Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I'd like to liven this section of the forum up a bit. I'm a "techie" and love to talk about and share about technology. With that in mind I ask, what camera and lenses are you shooting with? Point-n-shoot? DLSR?, Mirror-less or micro four-thirds? Phone? Film? Digital? Tell us what you like about your camera and lenses also what you don't like.

Here's what I shoot with. I have three Canon DSLR bodies. The 7D, 40D, and 10D. I also have a Canon Elan 7E film body that hasn't taken a shot since 2009.  ;D For lenses I have a the following Canon lenses: 24-105 f/4 L IS, 70-200 f/2.8 L IS, 50mm f/1.8 ("nifty fifty"). Also a Tamron 10-22 in Canon mount. I've shoot weddings part-time for a number of years and this kit has served me well. I like that Canon is pretty consistently well made and that the camera/lenses produce some great color and digital files. I know what the system does and what to expect. I don't like the cost. Especially of the "pro" line of "L" lenses. On the other hand they are razor sharp and last forever.

Recently I've decided to ramp down my shooting of paid gigs and will probably sell off some of my Canon gear. In the place of that I've started to build a lightweight kit using Sony's NEX line of mirror-less camera bodies. In that series I currently have the following NEX bodies: The NEX-6, NEX-5, and NEX-C3. I'll be selling off the C3 and probably the 5 to help pay for the recently purchased NEX-6. The lenses to go with that system that I have are the 18-55mm e-mount kit lens, 16-50mm e-mount "PZ" OSS, 55-210mm e-mount OSS, and 16mm f/2.8. It's a great system with APS-C sized sensors. These sensors are physically the same dimension as the sensor in the full-sized Canon DSLR's that I own. I'm amazed that I can get such good quality from a small and lightweight package. On the down side the sensors get dirty so easily. One or two lens changes and you have dust on the sensor. I also don't like the proprietary flash system on the early NEX bodies. Something fixed on the NEX-6 with a standard hot-shoe.

Feel free to ask me any question about the equipment I own. But, most importantly let us know what you shoot with. I'm certainly not an equipment snob. Photography is not primarily about the equipment but the eye of the photographer and the light available. On the other hand, I'm just a techie and these things interest me.  ;)

Well I'm not a pro, just a long time hobyist. If digital cameras had not come along I would probably still be using my Fujica st901 with my pentax screw mount lenses. (I modernized from the Pentax spotmatic II.)
I now use a 16 megapixl Sony Cybershot HX100V that has a 30X zoom.
I don't know if I will ever go back to any interchangable lense camera. I am spoiled by never having to change lenses.

One great advantage to not having to change lenses is sensor dust. It's a constant battle for me. Especially on my mirror-less cameras.

I'm not a "photographer".  I just take pictures and now and then something comes out good.   :D

My first digital was a Pentax - I think 2 mp and 4x zoom.

Then my husband saw an ad for Olympus C750UZ which had 4 mp and 10x zoom and the Pentax was traded in for that.  A great camera but bulky to carry all the time.

So along came Olympus Stylus 800 with 8 mp and 3x zoom, no viewfinder but it had image stabilization and was handy in my purse at all times - until an acquaintance taking a group photo dropped it on a cement floor, knocking the lens askew.  It would have cost more than the camera was worth to get it fixed.

Back to the 750.  By this time my hands weren't as steady, especially zooming, so when I found a Fugi Finepix on sale with 14 mp and 18x zoom and image stabilization I invested in that.  Takes great pictures, but still too bulky to carry all the time and I found myself often wishing I had a camera.

So a gift from one of my children had me camera shopping again.  This time I came up with Olympus CR340.  16 mp and 10x wide angle and image stabilization that fits nicely into what used to be a cigarette case and is always in my purse.

But I'm still just a point and shoot picture taker.   :D

I have a Canon EOS.  I use it as a point and shoot and would sure like to understand it better.  My learning style is ro be shown and read not just one or the other, so I am not getting full benefit out of the camera.

Right now I only have the Canon 7D camera with a Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L, Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS, Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 OS lens.  I bought the 7D in 12/2009.  Before that I had a Canon XSi that I had for a little over a year.  Before I started using DSLR cameras I mainly used Kodak point and shoot cameras.

I worked for Qualex for about 15 years.  Qualex was owned by Kodak and we did photo finishing.  During the summer we would average about 100,000 rolls of film a week.  I was in Quality Control.  I had to make sure all the printers and paper and film processors were in balance.  Back then about the only time I would shoot pictures was when a new film type came out and I needed to shoot some overs, unders, and normal to run it through the printers to set up a new film channel to optimize the color balance of the film.  Our plant shut down in 2003 due to lack of film coming through our plant.

Since digital camera came out I enjoy shooting pictures.  I enjoy shooting birds in flight pictures the most but the eagles are only down here about two to three months a year.  I do shoot portraits, I did our church directory and had people to let me take their photo or give me a photo for the directory.  I have three speedlights I use for portraits.  I'm glad the 7D has the wireless flash to trigger the speedlights.  I have some small umbrellas and a couple of large ones.  I have thee backgrounds, black, white, purple.  I have some rosco filters I put on the back flash to change the color of the backgrounds.  I guess that's about it.  O, I did work one fall going to schools and shooting school pictures.
