How to Use This Board

Here's our
Thirteenth Challenge for you all.

AUTUMN SPLENDOR

Details:

  • Show us your best photos  illustrating the Autumn Colours in your area for this challenge.  Maybe the autumn colours are over (as they are nearly over here in Canada) but maybe you took some photos of them.  Show us!

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on Nov. 6, 2007 and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please put a title in your post for your photos.  We need the title for the poll.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!

WOW all these great photos. I especially love the ones of Yosemite, looks like home to me. I used to leave their all summer every summer growing up. My Aunt was the Postmistress for 30 years and my Uncle worked for Yosemite Park and Curry Company before he went into the Real Estate business in Oakhurst. The shot along the Tuloumne river with Half Dome  in the distance is gorgeous.

Marilyn,

Thanks for the comment. August was the first time I saw Yosemite in person in my life of 46 years. I fell in love with the place then and was really excited to be going back to CA on business for two weeks on 10/22. When they gave me the choice to fly back to TX on the weekend I said "No way!" I knew I was going back to Yosemite. I'd love to go there in the winter, although I can't imagine driving on those roads with snow or ice on them.  ::)

Pat

I also enjoyed Yosemite.  Not sure if I'll ever see it.  It's certainly a long way from me.

Nice one of Darwen, Michael!

Again a picture taken in Darwen town center, this time a study of that birch tree set against the rear whitewashed facade of the cafe

Another wet day, and the warm prospect of a baked potato stall, as autumn fails into winter.

A bit of radient colour comes to Darwen, as the trees on the side of a river parkway, adorn themselves in their autumn finery.

Hey Kathleen!  So lovely to see you.  I've been wondering how you've been doing.

I looked at all the photos displayed to date and what a beautiful collection.  I think the colors of fall are so rich and certainly reveal the beauty that God has provided for our enjoyment as the life cycle of plants is once again completed.

Pat

I sure agree Larry!  I think it's one of my favourite times!

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

What a beautiful bunch of photos!  I agree that Fall has such richness and variety of colors.  We are having Indian Summer here, temps in the high 70s, but this may be the last such day for some time!  So I think I will go for a walk and just enjoy it!

Wouldn't you just love a quilt made of the photo of Kathleen's reflection shot?

Pat

For sure, Michael!  That would make a lovely quilt!

Let's start voting tomorrow on these!

Then we can maybe get another Mini Challenge in in time for Thanksgiving or Thankfulness!

Hope this is alright with you all.

"Autumn Tree"

I took this photo on my first trip to North Carolina, last year.  We just missed the peak for leaves, but there was still plenty of color to suit my fancy.

You missed the peak for leaves? We don't even come close to the colours you've got here where i live in Lancashire, the leaves just go rusty, and fall off, that's our autumn. :hello:

Thank you so much folks!  I appreciate the votes on my Small Cemetery on the Pennsylvania Mountainside.  It was, indeed a lovely scene.

Congratulations to the others in the top 10 and I'd also like to congratulate ALL members who entered.  I personally found this challenge a difficult one to vote in as there were so many good ones entered.

Yes, congrats to everyone!  That was fun.  Since fall is my favorite season I especially enjoyed seeing all those lovely shots!

Wordsculptor-Don't feel bad...I had two blonde moments regarding the challenge. First, I couldn't see the voting pole and then relized it was because I wasn't signed in, yet.  DUH!!!!!!!!!!  Guess I didn't realize the general public couldn't vote.  Oh well.

My other blonde moment was when I wondered why the ones in bold type didn't match the percentage of votes.  Oops, the ones in bold are the ones I voted for.  Double DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was great to have a "people's/peers choice" type of challenge instead of certain judges with predisposed ideas of what they are looking for.

Pat-Congrats on your beautiful 1st. place, image!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh boy, now I have the pressure of coming up with the next subject, ha?
