JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How to Use This Board

Here's our
Twenty-Seventh Challenge for you all.

"That's Not Natural"

Details:

  • This topic was chosen by Kathleen aka Shutterbugmom, who won our  last Challenge.  The subject of the next Mini Challenge is "THAT'S NOT NATURAL"Kathleen says, "I'm calling the challenge, "That's Not Natural."  In this challenge, we're looking for out of the ordinary subjects in nature.  Things you don't normally see in nature, shouldn't be found in nature or things that seem out of place.  (see my first entry for an example).  For those who physically cannot go outside  to shoot, due to illness or being housebound for some reason, you may enter something not natural that you can photograph indoors such as: kittens nursing on a mother dog or peanut butter and tuna sandwiches...I hope by those examples you get the idea.  Have fun finding the unnatural in nature!  I am looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.  ;)"

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.

  • Please upload up to 5 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on December 16, 2008   and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please do that in a separate post so that every post ONLY has the Title and then the Photo and that's all.

  • Please post only one entry per post.  .

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
    Remember, this is a fun project!

This is an older shot from a film photography class I took. We were learning how to do various exposures in the dark using flash and and open shutter. It was so much fun. This turned out a bit spooky looking. My husband is such a ham!

The Rainbow and The Shadow

[attachimg=#]

Hi everyone,
Based on the title of the challenge: That,s Not Natural.
Two of the photos from my portfolio come to mind.
These photos best describe the category, without using tricks.
They were just suddenly there, waiting to be photographed.

Here is my first entry.
Title: The Rainbow and The Shadow

About the photo:
On the way to The Holy Land, as our plane was over Tel Aviv, I was seated by the window shooting clouds. Then the not-so-natural happened. A circular rainbow appeared and inside it was the shadow of the Alitalia aircraft. Being at the right place and at the right time, I captured this very rare occurrence with my fuji finefix S2 pro. I shot this on November 2005.

The Laughing Peppers

[attachimg=#]

About the photo:
     The humorous phenomena took place, while I was preparing the ingredients for the beef stew that I planned to cook for dinner. After slicing the red bell pepper in two, I noticed the incredibly undisturbed formation of the seeds. As I worked the knife around it, The real surprise appeared.

The two halves appeared to be laughing at me.

     I shot this in the summer of 2005 with Fuji S2 Pro. It is also my favorite and most treasured shot. I love it so much, that I made it as my signature photo. The Laughing Peppers title has also been my username in websites that I belong to, such as Christian Photographers Community.

Fickled Finger of Fate

[attachimg=#]

My first entry was taken this past Tuseday as I went out for Snow pictures. December the first is the earliest date that I know for snow in Georgia. As I went through the pictures, I found one that isn't natural at all. Every Photographer has probably made this mistake. :laff: :yes: :bash: Somehow my fingers got in the way of the picture. I don't remember it at all. :-[ Anyway I entitled it the Fickled Finger of Fate. :roflBig: Sorry, I put the photo at the bottom on this one. I used a Nikon D70 on Autmatic Focus.

Duke and Weeko line dancing.

I love this shot, even though it's not sharp. We helped out a friend and took in his beautiful dog for a while. My dog loved the company. I thought they looked like they were dancing. Enjoy.

Tri-colored Heron Twist

[attachimg=#]

After searching through my files, I found my second entry. Everyone should know that Chubby Checker started the Twist. It's a dance that became very popular in the 60's. Well, maybe some of you wouldn't know. ;D This Heron is doing a great demonstration of how "The Twist" should be done. Definetly, not natural for a Heron. I used a Nikon D80 on Automatic Focus.

[attachimg=#]

This Challenge really makes you have to think. Thanks Kathleen. That's something i really need to do more of. ;D ;D :anon: :anon: :yes: :yes: I saw what I thought was a Cotton Boll on our Christmas Tree. It is a real Cotton Boll. But someone turned it into a Christmas Ornament. A Christmas tree with a Cotton Boll "That's not Natural." Camera Nikon d70 on Autumatic Focus.

Although it is actually natural in nature, it always catches us by surprise to see butterflies dining off dead animals and seems so 'un-natural'!

Blackbird with a white head

Hi

Apologies for not answering sooner.

Pepe is still going for walkies at twenty years of age not very far though plenty of TLC is one reason they have lasted so long that and enormous vet fees :o.

There are many stunning photos on this forum and it lightens up the dull winter day viewing them all.

I spotted a blackbird with a white head last week and of course the camera had been left at home luckily she was spotted in the bush on Sunday hoping she will teurn for a better photo.   I have viewed blackbird's completely white but never one with a white head before.

Not Natural

[attachimg=#]

These macro close-up images look un-natural, like weird aliens.  But this is how the Creator made them, in fine detail, not just a little bug but a magnificant creature.  So, this might not qualify as "Not Natural", but very amazing.

I still don't know how to make these big, but just click on the image to see the amazing detail.

Live Moon Christmas Tree Top

The moon was really beautiful in our back yard on Dec. 11th and 12th, so I took a couple of playful shots of it.

Moon In Her Hand

On Dec. 12th the local news said that the moon was the closest to the earth that it would be (This year? Or ever? They didn't make that clear! Anyone know?), so I finally talked my wife into holding it in her hand.  :)
