Mini Challenge #30
~Natural Landscape, 2009~

Thank you to everyone who entered the 30th CP Mini Challenge, and thank you to everyone who voted.

Here are the results of our photo challenge entitled:

"Natural Landscape, 2009"

How to Use This Board

Here's our
Thirtieth Challenge for you all.

"Natural Landscape, 2009"

Details:

  • This topic was chosen by Kevin aka mybcjazz, who won our  last Challenge.  The subject of the next Mini Challenge is "Natural Landscape, 2009"Kevin says, "I thought it would be nice for us to get out and enjoy the beauty of God's creation for this next Challenge, Natural Landscape, 2009!  So for this one, natural landscape, an image taken this year is what I'm looking for."

What do I mean by landscape for this challenge?

    • The mountains, the beach, the forest, the field, the desert, and similar images (shot in 2009)!

And in this Challenge, there should be...

    • NO people pictures, unless they are a speck in the distance and not the theme, and don't distract from the theme, Natural Landscape 2009!

    • NO pet or other animal pictures, unless they are a speck in the distance and not the theme, and don't distract from the theme, Natural Landscape, 2009.  For example, I won't have a beach shot with Jazz, our border collie, leaping to catch a frisbee.

    • NO close-ups or "macros".

    • NO "city-scape" shots, although that would be a good one for a future challenge!

    • NO photos with Scripture as part of the entry.

    • SO...Please post ONLY a title, and the kind of camera (and lens) used below the entry, when posting your entry.

Please do NOT post explanations about how or why it was taken.  Please let your photo stand solely on its photographic merits!

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on March 22, 2009   and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please do that in a separate post so that every post ONLY has the Title and then the Photo and that's all.

  • Please post only one entry per post.  .

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!

Sorry, I was not able to join the excitement of competition. The cold and miserable weather
we have up here, where I live did not allow me to snap a fresh photo worthy of the challenge.

Hi, There are many nice shots, But I think for the nicest, completed, and finished photo, I think it's "A Winter Walk".

If no on e minds, I'm going to put on my Professional Photographer's hat, and my Photo Professor's hat...:

Many of the entries have great elements to them, your eyes have perceived them, but for some, the element becomes the photograph, and I think that the element might be more roundly incorporated into a bit more of a developed image.  This may include more scenery, a foreground element to contrast with the faraway, or something to bring more depth or leading lines.

I have deliberately been vague about individual pics, Just to give ideas...   Pardon the overdose of smilies, my four year old is fascinated by them, so I give a few...

I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I agree with your point, and would include Winter Wonderland in that category also. My only problem was that, since these were supposed to be restricted to "natural landscape" only, I wondered if, because the wooden walk in W. Walk and the red barn in W. Wonderland were "man made" creations, that necessarily caused them to be outside of the narrow parameters that were set for this contest?

Anyway, I won't say what my conclusion was, but I deem both of them worthy of framing and hanging on my wall (as were a few other entries)!  ^-^

Awww...  Laughing Peppers, I so appreciate your post and my thoughts are the same as yours.  It's not about winning.  It's nice to win but I just so love to come in here and see everyone's work and view the creation in our world as seen through the lens and eyes of our fellow members.

Thanks again.  (I was pleased to get that photo.  Not sure if I said that I had seen a postcard in WalMart in Winchester, VA with a similar photo on it last year and I've been waiting and waiting to try to capture a similar scene of just the rolling on and on of the distant hills.  In this photo, I was doubly pleased with the sky that seemed to have a similar pattern.)

I'm anxious to see what Sarge comes up for all of us!

Congratulations, Sarge, for a great winning photo.  I'm happy to say I voted for that one too.

And congratulations to all the gifted photographers who let us see your pictures.  I agree with the others, winning is nice, but the most important thing is just showing off what God made. :)

It was a delight to see the Natural Landscape photos.

CONGRATULATIONS, SARGE FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY!!

It was so nice to see all the GRAND entries.  On Pat's other photo site, the Photography Cafe, there are so many talented landscape photographers.  And all they do is present their images, without talking them up, and they never cease to amaze me.

Thus, my stringent rules for this competition.  Landscape.  Recently shot.  Standing on its photographic merits.

Well, landscape photography is one area where I want to excel, but still have quite a way to go. And I hope we all had an opportunity to lift up HIS name as we either "made" these lovely images, or just enjoyed what others presented.

No, it isn't all about winning, but it is about giving our best for the LORD, in all that we do.

In His Grip,
Kevin

Hi everyone.

WOW, sorry I haven't replied to this sooner, as I have been quite busy with homework (still in school!). It has been quite hard with tests and everything!

WOW. I can't believe I won this challenge, as it was the last thing i expected! ;D
I am so chuffed that I won, as this is my first ever photograhic win! Thankyou so much for the votes, and I think everyone else deserved to win as much as I did, as they were all superb entries. It was lovely seeing so many beautiful photos.

It may look a bit like HDR, but no I don't even know how to do that. I think it was the fact that I entered white balance settings and changed it!

Thanks, and the next challenge is on the way, which is.......You will have to find out!

I really enjoyed veiwing yours fotobirder. A brilliant entry, as was eveyone else'.
Well done everyone!

Congrats to everyone. I am so happy to see the natural photos for Natural Landscapes.
I actually thought Sarge used HDR, it looked that vibrant.
I was overjoyed to know he didn't. There are so few challanges out there that HDR hasn't snuck in.
God's blessings on all who captured the awesome beauty that our Father has created for us.

Well Done Pat .   You make these changes and they just seem to "flow".
