WE'RE VOTING

What a wonderful response we've had to this challenge!!!

Please select your TEN favorites and then click on the Submit button.  Voting will be open until October 3 so be sure you get your votes in before then.   Even if you didn't enter a picture, please take the time to vote in this challenge.  There are lots of wonderful photos of "CHURCHES" shown.

How to Use This Board

Here's our
49th Challenge for you all.

"Churches"

Details:

  • This topic was chosen by JudyB, who won our  last Challenge.

Her explanation:  "The topic is Churches.  You have to be able to see it is a church, old new or in between.  Inside or outside.  But the photo must be identifiable as a church.

Let's encourage folks by letting them know we're enjoying their entries."

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.  Please keep your photos under 175 KB in size.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on September 25, 2010   and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please put it below your picture.

  • Please post only one entry per post/message.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!

Let's ALSO NOT put any photos in this challenge labelled "NOT AN ENTRY" or anything that is not to be voted on.

Remember, this is a fun project!

Travelers in the wilderness could find a room for the night and a decent meal, courtesy of the brothers and fathers at this site.   It fell into disuse and was about to be demolished when it was put on the registry of historic churches and is now being refurbished as a site for retreats and conferences.

Iglesia de San Miguel, Los Ebonos

Los Ebonos is an American town, because the Rio Grande takes a southward loop for a few hundred yards.  There's a ferry to cross here, a raft pulled across the river by six employees, using a rope strung across the 30 meters of river.

Very nice people, very little of the 20th century here, much less 21st.

Mrs.Barbarian

I grew up in Connecticut and my grandparents lived in Connecticut and then Upper State New York.  These pictures bring back so many memories of the churches I used to attend as a young girl.  The churches in New England are so beautiful inside and out.  They have wonderful big organs in them.  You can sing loud even if you are a lousy singer because the organ drowns out your voice.  These pictures are wonderful!  I want to burst out in some of the hymns I remember singing when I attended church as a girl in New England.  It was good to see them and visit them if only in my imagination.

I also had a tough time voting, as there were so many beautiful churches, and great shots.   Of course, the Church of our Lady...right here in Guelph, Ontario, got one of my votes.  ;)

Thanks to all who contributed their photos. Great work!!!
