Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

How to Use This Board

Here's our
60th Challenge for you all.

"Weathered"

  • This topic was chosen by Jim D, who won our last Challenge.

What a wonderful variety of subjects this offers!  Thank you Jim D for suggesting this new topic!

Please read carefully the "Details" about what is expected, and the rules for posting your photos.

Details as described by Jim D:
"I'm a big fan of images of weathered wood on vintage/old structures, but almost anything else that could be titled "weathered" (like metal or cloth objects, outdoors people's faces - you name it) will fit this theme nicely. Let's use our imaginations and most of all, have fun taking pictures."

Let's encourage folks by letting them know we're enjoying their entries.

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos (see directions above in the link to "How to Use This Board") in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.    It's best if your photos are at least 500 to 600 pixels wide so that they are easily seen.  Please keep your photos under 175 KB in size.

  • If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.  Instructions for doing this are in the "How to" section.  CLICK HERE  If you need any help, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • The challenge is open now and will be closed to uploads on September 10, 2011  and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • Please put a short title above your photo.  We need the title for the poll listing.  If you want to tell us a bit about your photos, please put it below your picture.

  • Please post only one entry per post/message.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!

Let's ALSO NOT put any photos in this challenge labeled "NOT AN ENTRY" or anything that is not to be voted on.

Remember, this is a fun project!

Rock Island Line

Taken with a Canon S5IS somewhere near Stillwater, Oklahoma. I was driving down a main road, saw this, and my sweet husband was kind enough to slam on the brakes and pull over, then try to avoid having a heart attack as I tried not to get run over getting the photo as it was on the opposite side of the road and down a ways and it wouldn't have been legal (or wise) to put the car in reverse. Lucky for me he's more like   than  :clobber: when he sees me go into "must get that shot" mode.  :)
The world is very fair to see
The artist will not let it be
He fiddles with the works of God
And makes them look uncommon odd!

The Old Passes Away

"20110302_StevensonBarn_438"

After watching this old barn deteriorate for years, it finally hit me...this barn is like my old, mortal self.  I was Spirit inspired to write a short blog post about it (http://bigskyken.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/the-old-passes-away/) last April.  Now, every time I pass that old barn, I see it as a reminder that "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil 1:21).

Lothair (MT) Elevator

"20110331_Elevator_Lothair_545-1-2"

It seems that every old abandoned elevator marks the end of another rural town.  In the quest for bigger, better and more efficient, families migrate to the cities and our culture loses one more tie with the industries that feed and clothe them.  Perhaps I was just born two generations too late!

Athenry Priory

"20110724_Ireland_AthenryFriary_2333"

This Domincan friary was built between 1241 and 1252 AD, near Athenry Town, County Galway, Ireland.  The ravages of time, assisted by Cromwell's soldiers in 1652, have taken their toll on structure.

Just realized none of my entries had camera used and where shot. Guess it would help if I learned to read directions.  :) All entries shot with Nikon D7000, 3 frames bracketed by shutter speed, shot at Cades Cove, TN in July.
