Just a moth, waiting in the cool of the morning to dry off and fly away.   Lucky for him.  Mrs. B was not pleased to find him in her vegetable garden.

 He is so brightly colored too. If he takes a bite you know what to do.  :clobber:

He is ugly in a beautiful sort of way.  Good picture.  Did you get one of him flying off?

No, he left while I was otherwise occupied.  Apparently, it's an odd form of sphinx moth, Melittia gloriosa the glorious squash vine borer.  Mrs. B is very concerned, now.
