Title: Gunnison's Mariposa Lily
Post by: BigSkyKen on April 07, 2010, 01:38:24 AM
I was in a quandry whether to post this here, or in the flower forum, but decided that because it is kind of a macro picture, and this is the "scene of the crime" where my previously posted picture could have covered an elephant, I needed to make ammends and get it right!  While many of you are enjoying spring, we are getting yet another snow tonight, so I have to keep digging into last fall's files until spring breaks around here.  This is a Gunnison's Mariposa Lily, taken in the Lewis & Clark National Forest, near Utica, MT.

Perfect depth of field. And I love the deep greens. What camera equipment are you using?

Also, we're pretty lose about putting threads in the right forums, so this could have been put in either forum. :)

Ken, no need to "make amends".  We've all been new and had our ups and downs.  And Pat, bless her heart, is wonderfully forgiving of our mistakes.

And thank you for that lovely photo!   :D

Ken you are doing better than I am for posting.  Well done!

This is a beautiful Lilly.  you can see the drops of dew...or perhaps rain.  Lovely!

ScottyBoy, I made this shot with my Canon XSi with a 55-250 kit lense, which I call my poor-man's macro!  I did a little sharpening in PSE.  This flower appears very simple to the naked eye, but a closer looks shows that the Master Designer added a little complexity to it!  We had several light rain showers that day, so that's the source of the waterdrops, Judy.  Thanks to everyone for taking a look.

All the technical jargon doesn't take away from the beauty of the picture.

Alright! Another Canon person! :P

I use a Canon Rebel XTi with a couple different lenses (I don't have a macro either).

Yes Scotty, I guess I am a Canon purist!  I picked up an EF-S 60mm macro lense over the winter, but haven't had a chance to take it out for a serious test drive yet.  When the flowers start popping and bugs start hatching, I will give it a good workout!  I've heard good things about the XTi, It should offer you a lot of possibilities.

That it does. It's a great camera.

I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your macro shots. :)
