Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Does anyone know this camera?  My sister gave it so me, with the lens kit,  and didn't give the ac power adapter, so until I get one, I don't know what it does. (I'm more of a point and shoot person)  She did tell me she thought it was one of Sony's big things that came to nothing...but she paid $700.  Not sure how many years ago that was...a few.

I don't know enough of what specs to look for to even decide if I want to keep it.

Oh!  I found this, and it shows the details of the camera.   Thanks for looking.  After reading all that...I still don't know if it's any better than my Panasonic  Z8. :)

Nita, I have the NEX-5 as well as the NEX-C3 and NEX-6. I'm a believer in the NEX system. You get a lot of quality in a small package. In my opinion it's a great system for a point-n-shooter to move up to.

The pros:
It's got a big sensor for the size. By big I mean the physical size of the sensor is the same as a Canon DSLR. It's an "APS-C" sensor which provides great image quality. As a comparison, your point-n-shoot probably has a sensor the size of your pinky finger nail. This give you so much better performance in low light.

It's a compact and light system. You won't mind carrying this around at all.

It's intelligent auto system works great and does a good job predicting the scene and gives good results. At the same time the camera allows full manual operation if you want to go that direction.

Cons:
The sensor gets dirty. Especailly if you change lenses alot. I'm always cleaning mine. Not hard to do, just a pain.

Not a ton of lens options and the very good ones are expensive. The best is the Zeiss 24mm e-mount and it's over $1000. However, there are some much cheaper alternatives (Sigma 19 and 30mm) that give great output.

The flash system is not that good and it's proprietary. One reason I upgraded to the NEX-6 is because it has a standard hot-shoe. (And a viewfinder)

I really like the camera. If I were you I'd get a charger and give it a try. Worst case, you won't like it and you can sell and easily recover the cost of the adapter.
