Title: Sweet and Sour Sauce

Sweet and Sour Sauce

   Water
1 can (8 1/4 oz.) crushed pineapple in heavy      
   syrup drained; reserve syrup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tbls. soy sauce, optional
1 tbls. cornstarch
1/3-1/2 cup cider vinegar

Microwave in 2 cup glass measuring cup, add enough water to reserved syrup to equal 3/4 cup; stir in pineapple, sugar and soy sauce. cook at High (10) 2-3 minutes; stir once. Blend cornstarch with vinegar until smooth. stir in pineapple mixture. Cook at High (10) 2-3 minutes, or until sauce is slightly thickened; stir once.
Variation: Add 1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper with pineapple.

This does sound good Marilyn... do you serve it over rice or what?

I guess you can put it over rice. But I use it as a sauce on grilled meat, Like spare ribs or cubes of pork loin for a chinese meal. Ususlly it ends up on everything on the plate anyway.
