Title: Apple Crisp
Post by: Marilyn on April 13, 2005, 09:41:47 AM
Apple Crisp

A delicious way to use fresh apples without all the fat and calories of apple pie.  Use this as a dessert at holiday time.

6 LARGE cooking apples
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Topping:
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine

Slice apples and arrange in an 8 x 8-inch pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Combine juice, sugar, and cinnamon and pour over apples.

Combine flour and sugar and cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 8.

VARIATIONS:

Add 1/4 cup oatmeal to the topping in place of 1/4 cup flour to add crunch and fiber.

Another good sounding Apple Crisp.  My recipe doesn't call for sugar and cinnamon in with the apple and O.J.
