This recipe has been handed down in my family from generaton to generation.

Grandma's Apple Cake.

4 cups of fresh sliced apples (4 large apples or 5 small)
2 cups sugar pour over apples and let stand

2 cups flour
1 1/2 teas. soda
2 teas. cinnamon
1teas. salt
mix the above 4 ingredients well.

2 well beaten eggs
3/4 cup oil
2 teas. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Add flour mixture to egg and oil and mix well. add apples, nuts and vanilla. Bake in greased 9 x 13 pan at 350 F. 45 minutes.

This recipe is written in my mother's handwriting. bringing back thoughts of her and my Grandmother and the smell of this cake baking in the oven.

This sounds like an Apple cake that mom used to make.  So sweet and good, no icing is necessary.  Thanks, Marilyn!
