Title: How to Resize Photos with Irfanview

IrfanView

IrfanView is a free program that you can easily use to prepare your pictures for posting on Christian Photographers.


1.   Download the latest version of IrfanView here:

2.   Follow the installation instructions. 
If you have an older version it will automatically install over it.




3.   Open IrfanView

4.   Browse your computer for the picture you wish to work with.  Click on "Open", the picture will open in Irfanview.

5.   Click on Image and on Resize/Resample

6.   Set new size – enter 640 for the largest measurement.  Be sure Preserve Aspect Ratio is checked

7.   Click on File and Save for Web

8.   You will see two of your picture.  Under the frame on the left you will see the original file size.  Under the frame on the right is the new file size.




9.   If the new file size is more than 175.0 KB you can either click on the button "Compress to Size" and enter a number less than 175 or slide the "Quality" button to the left until the number is below 175.0

10.   Click on "Save as" and save your picture with a new name, to a place on your computer you will be able to find readily.  (I opened a folder "Irfan Pics")




11.   The photo is now ready to upload to a remote site for posting on Christian Photographers.
