Title: Cold healthy "pizza"
Post by: RogueSnapper on January 12, 2005, 12:25:25 AM
My girls love this.
I've seen this recipe call for a number of high fat products, but we use different ones and it turns out even better in my opinion!

Cold healthy "pizza"

We buy two cans of crescent rolls and spread them out on a cookie sheet. Do NOT separate them, just unfold the roll because that's your dough! Mush it together a bit in any place you see the perforations in the dough. Bake it until it's a nice brown and done, then let it cool.

Take a cup of low fat cottage cheese and a cup of low fat sour cream and whip it together in a blender until it's smooth and creamy, add a package of ranch dressing mix. Just the powder, mix that up too.

Spread it out on the now cooled crust.
Then you add whatever you want on top. We cut up veggies very fine. Shredded carrots, bits of mushrooms, green and red peppers, black olives, cauliflower, broccoli, whatever you have in your fridge will do.

It's really easy, fast, and the girls love to help make it. Bake the dough, mix and add the spread, top. :) I thought it sounded so weird at first and didnt' want to try it, but we (a group of parents) were testing out healthy recipes and I didn't want to hurt the mom's feelings who wanted us to try it, then I loved it!

Gina, I have had these a reunions and pitch-in dinners but haven't made one myself.  It does sound very easy!

I also put the title in the text part so if someone wants to copy and paste this recipe to print, the title will be included.

Thanks for adding that in for me! I should visit the practice forum soon so I can get used to the different ways of posting here. :)

No problem, Gina.  You aren't the first and won't be the last to do that.  No problem.

Bumping this up since it's now still hot outside, yet harvesting time for all the yummy veggies that go on top of this!

Perfect weather for eating this. It sounds SO good tonight, but I don't wanna go to the store so I'll have to save it for next week!

Not to go off topic, but, well, I'm going off topic to say you have a wonderful website! I was just browsing it, and have bookmarked it now.
