Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Are there any in CP who are familiar with Wycliffe Bible Translators?  I have known a number of their people as well as New Tribes.  I think they both do an excellent work.

Marilyn

I have heard of the Wycliff Bible Translators, I saw a program on someone who was agraphic artist who became one of the missionaries. I can't remember his name put I can picture him in my mind.

Yes, Al, I've known of the Wycliffe Bible Translators since I was a teen.  I actually had thoughts at one time of going to work with them.

Al, several years ago we had a representative come to our church and speak.  They do wonderful work.

What specifically do you want to know about the Wycliffe Translators?  They are one of the older missions organizations out there.  I know that we A/G people are sometimes 'loaned' out to them.  They are a reputable and good missions group.

Skief - I haven't actually worked for them, but I've had several very close friends who have.  Their SIL training is probably the best there is for translation.  They often go into places where missionaries aren't welcome - as teachers and language constructors to actually produce the written alphabet, etc. that the particular nation never had.  In the meanwhile, of course, they also evangelize.  One close friend of ours went as a short-term missionary on two different occasions to help with their work.
New Tribes Missions, of course, also does an excellent job, and they too do language translation, alphabet construction, etc., but Wycliffe has been doing it longer.  And of course there's Missionary Aviation Fellowship, which works with both groups to get them to and from the places they need to be.

Al,

OK, I thought that you were trying to get some information about them.  I've had lots of people ask me if I know such and such missions group or person becasue they  were wondering if they should support them or not, and that's why I responded the way that I do.  NTM, Wycliffe, and MAF are all organizations that have been doing good work for a while.  They are independent organizations, and not tied to a particular denomination.

I do know that when I was in Mongolia and working on the Bible Translation committee there, that we were in contact with Wycliffe, but it was the International Bible Society that was taking the lead in the project.

Blessings,
Mike

Before I came to live in this area of Birmingham u.k.   my previous church had speakers from Wycliffe Translators and from Wycliffe Bible College.
The Anglican Churches over here do support Wycliffe.
