JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

"But we speak the Wisdom  of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory." 1Cor.2.

Sounds like something from Tolkien doesn't it,.. The hidden wisdom.. But it is hidden from all non believers, to them the scriptures are an enigma, for only God the Holy spirit who indeed indwells all true Christians can interpret His own Word.
Tolkien was brought up a Roman Catholic by his mother, and he and
C S Lewis were great friends, Lewis himself wrote wonderful stories, made into films, concerning Aslan, who was a figure of Christ.
His Screwtape letters are classic.
But the bible to us who follow Christ is no mystery, with prayer and patience all is revealed. God ordained this wisdom which we have, before the world was created,
He plans very far ahead does our God!  "To our glory"  well, that's something to think about, we glory in Him, Who reveals all we need to know about Him and about how to live our lives.
To God be all the Glory, now and evermore. Amen.

To God Be The Glory
(Click to hear music)

God and our Father:
To Whom be glory for ever.
Galatians 1:4-5

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: W. Howard Doane

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Oldiesmann: No problem -thank you for all you do.

Sandi Patty:  More thanks to Judy - I have not heard Sandy Patti for a long time.  Nice voice!

We all pray for the fires in the west to be out when rain and snow come - air quality is terrible and I don't think wearing a mask can really filter this air.  We are grateful to have a home and can get supplies and food by ordering.  I wonder what mom and dad would think of going to a grocery store and having someone load the trunk.  Grateful every day.  Also, thankful for our medical care - Don has a walker he uses in the house & a cane when he likes to walk up the street to get the mail.  I have some more tests this coming week and not worried.

One son was about to adopt a mixed dog - German Shep, and part Wolf.  He rethought about it when he noticed the dog is so skittish  I told him I knew a pastor who had a half wolf dog and that animal never calmed down so it was good our son did not choose to adopt the needy dog.  I told him to let the dog choose him - that is how I was talked into a Golden Retriever - she would not leave me and licked my hand until I gave in - we had intended to find a small dog for one son and ended up loving that family dog for years.  I think she outsmarted us more than once.

I have to do some physical therapy at home for some side twinges that are sometime sharp & noticeable.  Very odd but I will go with the flow.

These are the times I feel so grateful for so much.  Will be so thankful when church can open again.

Hello Friends!  I have been locked out for a whole month, and have really been missing you!  Now I find that I had to log in again--strange.  Well, I hope all that is  a go now and I can come in more easily and not be frustrated!

We are doing well here in Kansas.  Have Dr. appointments in Liberal today, so this will be short, as have to leave soon.  She said we need to do paperwork, so come early!

I want to go back and see what I've been missing in here!

Janet I am glad you got on!  3

I am off to bed have a good night everyone!

Carol

Good day all.  How nice to see your posts.  Here in the suburb south of Denver we are missing our mountains that are blotted out from massive fires.  Air quality is so poor I wear a mask just to go to the mailbox up the street.  I think it affects our health even in the house.  It is a good thing my sewing area has a lot of fabric - cutting out aqua colors for the next table runner -  they are not for me, they are for friends and also the church may have a bazaar staged outdoors so they can be donated.  Last year, I donated 49 fabric holders with tissues - small enough to fit in purses or in the car.  We shall see - right now there are no gatherings allowed. Record setting heat here too.

Good news:  I see people acting kindly in many ways -

It is nice to see your posts -

We both got good reports from Urologist, but then the next day Darrel passed out four times! Something is wrong, for sure!  He has follow-up app't with VA next Wednesday.  So I hope they will find any problems then.

Carol, I am so glad our little church has been meeting for about two months already.  And on Wednesday night, there were more people than there were on Sunday!  We were surprised.

I went to the funeral of a lady who was a preacher here for many years, today.  It lasted over THREE hours!  :o
And for the first time in my life, I got up an left before it ended.  I needed the restroom, which was clear at the other end of the building (Civic Center) and also, they had the sound system turned up so loud it was blasting my ears!  So rather than feeling conspicuous walking clear back to front area where he asked us to move to in the beginning, I just left.  The preacher was actually so loud I couldn't understand what he was saying!  So that was a first experience of that kind for me.  There were several outside, and others coming out as I left, so it wasn't just me.

Sunday is Darrel's birthday and we have plans for dinner with daughter and son-in-law in Hugoton that evening.

I will be checking back; sure hope more of you post!

I have been in regular contact with Ruth Ann for some time.  This morning I received this message:

Quote"Judy, although I'm not active on CP, maybe some of my friends might want to pray for me.
The subject
My son is with me for a brief period. He is here to help me get healthier and more active because he wants me to live longer.
How blest am I that he is a Christian.
We brought up this very topic in an early conversation.
I need prayer that God will guide us through this journey.

The subject I referred to is our bodies as temples of God, and how we need to try to keep them in good shape for our Lord's habitation.
Ruth Ann"

Yes as a little congregation we need to be praying for each other that our daily needs be met.

"The Wisdom of the world is foolishness with God, He takes the wise in his own craftiness. The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men, for all things are yours."
1 Cor 3.
Paul here is talking about being baptised by certain big name people, and is condemning the church at Corinth for being so foolish. Paul says it just doesn't matter, they have become foolish in thinking that any  flesh and blood man has a status.
God is in complete control, "He who sits in the Heavens laughs at the schemes of men".
Men have feet of clay, our best church leaders are only flesh and blood. Many church leaders who had great following over many years have fallen from grace, and many more will fall yet. God is perfect, no one else is.. look up to Him, follow Him, learn from your preachers and teachers, but also spend much time in prayer and bible study, this above all shall keep you from being led astray. Follow humble leaders if you can find one today, but don't rely on them too much.. Flesh and blood..
Feet of clay.. keep reminding yourself.
Enjoy God, Jesus Christ is our Leader, Teacher, Preacher.. Some men can interpret the bible better than we can, listen to them, enjoy the teaching if it opens your heart and mind to Christ. But in Christ alone we stand redeemed, and in Him we live and enjoy invigorating Life!!
It's said that God speaks through the Bible, if you want to hear Him speak audibly.. Then read out loud!

Praying for RuthAnn.

Raining here today. We sure did need this rain, I hope it does something for the fires that are still burning. I haven't been back to church yet. There is another church out by the airport that has a Covid outbreak. as of yesterday there were `3 cases there. It seems to be going up a little more everyday in Coos County. There were 100 cases that came from the Bandon Golf  Course. I guess it is being brought ibn by the guests coming to play golf. I certainly can  not take any chances, my lungs won't take it and I am Keith caregiver. COPD is  bad enough that  an added lung problem and I would be i heaven. he last time I was at church  there were some who didn't wear a mask and someome else used my mic after I finished singing.

Ruth Ann: I do hope you know we are sending healing prayers your direction.  How nice of your son to be helping - we love our sons and daughter too for all they do.  Take care and keep on healing.

Janet:  May Darrel recover completely as the VA finds his health issue.

Judy:  Thank you for passing on the news on Ruth Ann.

Marilyn: May you have strength to weather this time in your life.

I am going to listen to the next song right now.  These sweet spots in life are so uplifting and give thanks for a special moment of good news.

"Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. There has no temptation taken you but such is common to man, but God is faithful, Who will not allow you to be tempted above what you can stand, but will with the testing also make a way to escape, that you will be able to bear it. "
1 Cor. 10.
When everything is going well in our lives that's when we must not get careless, for the Christian shall always be tested and tempted. That's actually what builds our character.... Someone once said that a young believer is like a teabag.. No use until he's been in hot water. If you lived an airy fairy life what good would you be in a situation that needed someone strong to make serious decisions that affect people's lives. Paul uses the words.. Tempted and Tested interchangeably, we are tempted to do things that we shouldn't do, sometimes by Satan mostly by our flesh and when we are tempted then we are being tested, for nothing comes to us without God allowing it.
So tempting, testing, is for our good.
And He gives strength to the weary, and yes, we can get very weary of the continual illnesses and aches and pains, and all the many problems that afflict us. But He had brought us safe so far and Grace will lead us home. Nil desperandum.

Carol

Chris and Judy:  Thank you for today's message.  We fondly remember a good friend who suffered pain for so many months but would speak to us about how he looked forward to heaven - he never criticized or blamed - he was a Christian every minute of his life.

Yesterday, we looked north/west and saw a frightening sky of fog and smoke - it was  brown and coming to cover the city of Denver and so much more.  Warnings for anyone outdoors.  Bless the hard working - those outside and those with breathing issues.  Praying for anti-virus cure.

This sounds silly - but, we had hair cuts yesterday.  It was very clean and sanitized - then we found they put an extra $3.50 on each of us for sanitizing.  Usually, it is a fair price - this was shocking.

We just had a pleasant surprise - one grandson called on the internet from Slovakia.  He has two more days of confinement after getting the virus.  It was a broken and slow audio but so warming to see him and he is upbeat even with a lot of disappointments now.  Today's message is timely.
Update:  More out of control fires in the high country - oldest son had a cabin there but did sell it.  Many acres of where we used to stay are totally burnt with zero containment.

Carol

Prayers for all the people under fire watch - the fires keep growing and livestock - horses, etc. are being hauled away - far away.  Not to mention people fleeing their homes.  The winds pick up and it is hard to guess which direction for anyone to drive or run  The news is terrifying.  Peace be with all in the fire area - we are miles away but staying indoors because of the dirty air.

Here, I found my old bread baker and have whole wheat bread started.  Taking the time to clean closets and making a big donation of clothing to hopefully bring to the thrift store ---- so many people losing their homes - they have nothing but what they could carry.

Janet:  How is Darrel?  I pray he is gaining strength.

God can keep us from falling in.
But He maybe won't stop us from jumping in.
If we are determined to sin.
We as His followers are duty bound to stay away from certain places, from mixing with certain types of people, from certain bad habits.
When the Lord saved us our choices changed, things we once enjoyed doing, now have no hold on us, He set us free from them.
Be very careful that they don't sneak back in to your life.
How deceitful is the human heart, "catch the little foxes that spoil the vineyard."

Carol...
...as our UK Queen Elizabeth once said and described 1992 as her " Annus Horribilis " year, a horrible year...I would say that 2020 has way overtaken that, maybe not for her but the rest of the world, a good 75% of it has been-is now still being affected...so many have lost their loved ones to this epidemic...so many heart-breaking stories..
When i think back to this time last year when most people were looking forwards to last years Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations, no one had any idea as to what was soon to be, just " waiting around that next corner."
Wild-fires included...
This has been a busy year for our God listening to all our prayers to make it end-put a stop to it...

I remember Queen Elizabeth's speech on annus horbilis.  Very true words at that time and now.

I just called two cousins - one in the state of Washington and the other in the state of Arizona.  Remembering the years it cost so much to call long-distance.  Such a treat we don't think about today.  One is under quarantine with her husband as he is facing surgery soon.  She was going to go to lunch today with a few friends _ all testing negative_ and I told her she could not take the chance of virus or even something else so I said - Do Not Go to meet anyone.  Then, she said "Thank you mother"  ....  Well, it is too risky for all of us and she isn't going - unless she weakens.

"The Lord is my shepherd.  ...  we and so many others are stunned by the forces of nature this year.  Thousands of acres of land is scorched with many houses and businesses plus animals in our beloved national park (Rocky Mountain National is the one we used to live near.  I will never be able to walk a path where I almost stepped in front of a bull moose that was quietly watching us as chatted and walked in the park.  The fire damage will change everything in Colorado for decades.  Praying for loss of life and loss of homes, businesses as well as churches.  Praying for people who lost so much.

I am thankful for this place to come to and mention my concerns.  Thankful that we are able to get most of the groceries we need and we are able to keep on keeping on.

Take care everyone!
