Greetings Janet  Ah, you were talking about political debates.  On looking up what you mentioned, could it be said, others might have the same feeling regarding the other party.

I recall a politician saying these few words,

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others

Those few words are very true

Well I have been told, I certainly was not expecting that....I maybe only 68 but I do have MS, and then see how old and frail you become...and if I want to still grieve over the loss of my three dogs and Richard that is totally up to me...
I apologise if I am so miserable and affecting others around me by making them unhappy, I am assuming my posts are too depressing for members to read....I guess we have to be happy all the time or put on a brave face or a false face...

We have a beautiful day so far this morning and think the rest of the day will be the same although getting into the 90's again.  I had a very good night sleep last night  and rather than  getting up at midnight as has often been the case I didn't get up till after 4 am and I'm taking things pretty easy. Earlier this morning I put an order in at Costco that I will get in 3 to 5 day.  This item did not require an order of $75 or more for free shipping.  I realized I was trying to go to sleep again here in my easy chair so I lay down but thenI  I would listen to the church service that was recorded last week and was the last Sunday for our minister.  It was a very nice service and at the end they shared some statistics of many of the things he had done including bringing seeing more than  400 people into our congregation,  performing many funerals and wedding and other thing and they left out quite a few of them such as  hospital visits.

We had no visitors yesterday.  Scott will be here today to pick up his drill and finish installing his new dishwasher. I hope'll be able to stay at least a few minutes with me as I enjoy any time I spend with him.

Janet,  I am getting great pleasure out of giving things away. I'm going to make the proposal to our son, with a agreement from Pat, that we start doing some things to improve the inside of his home and then when it is cooler in the fall do some  outside restoration that will show from the street.

I have been in touch  with my best friend Rod's daughter and it appears that he will probably be released today.  I think there is a72 hour rule for evaluation.

Janet,  a little later today I will send you an email that hopefully will  help you get on S&F's  and overcome the password problem.  Wow, I am impressed that Mark has already done his Christmas shopping and has it back in Kansas this early.

Jane, getting new glasses is something to talk about thing we do every day. I think a pond a time we all just have to tell her pop in and say hi and let it go for the day. but that restart the Teleno I'm not a member you know that we are still doing OK or not to be a thing on Pix .  Wrong laptop is dead after I got rested up from overdoing but I look in the mirror I do seem to see it earlier for a little man that was going around a lot of unnecessary good now they parted. I'm sure it must be a lot easier on my heart to hear around the 50 pounds I have lost already open reduction going lately so I think that most of the hood maybe Sean I don't mind at all from Lakeview so I can use simulation of it overnight and during the day when I talk . I do not feel old and I think that is because of our body they age and remind not equipped for tonight.

Jackie,  hey no need for you to apologize for how you're feeling. I think we all would share the hope that you will not leave this site. One person cannot know how another feels and I feel confident to say we all have just been trying to help you and not criticizing you. We each process grief differently.

Carol

Everyone processes grief differently.  AND, that is OK.
I admire anyone who can talk about their feelings - sometimes, those who have gone through dark years can tell us the their way to get through the sad time and help us look for guidance.

Just this week, I said "I  am feeling sad".  and wouldn't you know I opened the bible and it was written "Do not feel sad". It was the perfect thing for me to read - my life is not being guided by me.

It is that time of the year for afternoon sudden storms and thunder with lightning.  Of course, just as we want to meet two of the boys for supper.  Wouldn't you know?  Thankfully, our oldest son just got off a plane so he wasn't delayed.

Janet:  Where are you headed with your RV?  You may have to wait until September when weather calms.  A group of 43 youngsters & leaders just left for Omaha to work on flood damaged homes.

Larry:  That is a great idea - helping spruce up Scott's home.  I had to take my Bernina into a shop and it needs a tune-up.  Two weeks until they get to it.

No,have to get going here.  Oldest son is arriving for three days.  I made an all vegetable soup plus an oatmeal with dried fruit for two meals both in the instant pot pressure cooker.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  A quiet day at home yesterday.

Janet

My dear Jackie,
I prayed before I posted, as I was typing, and also afterward, that you would hear my heart and not feel criticized or condemned.  I am so sorry you didn't hear my heart through my words.  I know you are grieving, as you have every right to do, and please, please accept my sincere apologies for hurting you.  Believe me, that was the last thing I intended to do.  But I did.  Now, is there any way to make up for that?  I wanted you to feel uplifted and encouraged, to look forward to a better and happier and more peaceful life than you are living right now because of all your painful losses.  I had no right to impose my beliefs on you--that wasn't my purpose either!  I promise to be far more careful in choosing my words in the future.

So please come back and vent about whatever you like.
I shall stay mum, but still enjoy having you in our group.  I'm not unkind, really. And I'm so sorry for this misunderstanding.  Will you forgive me?

Hi everyone on this first of July. Where has the first half of this year gone? It looks like we are to have a very nice day with some sun this morning and some partly cloudy this afternoon and a low chance of rain but it's going to get hot up to 95 later today.

I am trying to get an early start  posting to the discussions as  yesterday couldn't stay awake but so far haven't fallen asleep . I  woke up about midnight and Pat was waiting for me so that I could do some bug hunting. She had seen a big water bug or something like that and she doesn't like bugs, to say the least, so I spent the next hour or so looking through the pantry and while I was doing that I got rid of a lot of big boxes of soda did some re-organization of it but found no  waterbug or whatever. I told her the bug was more afraid of her than she was a bit but she wasn't buying that.  Maybe it'll show up later today.  I don't blame the bugs trying to get in from the heat out there but they're not gonna hurt us whether   water bugs or palmetto bugs or whatever they are. It is now after 3 AM and I have gone back to bed. . I told Pat that I'd probably spend most of the day in bed here either sleeping or using my laptop and just getting some extra rest. I'm not feeling as strong as I did yesterday although yesterday was a very good day. We had a surprise visit  from Elizabeth that we had not expected but was most welcome. She came to talk to me about getting a new rug for their room and had done all the homework in terms of prices and where it where it can be accomplished without breaking the bank so to speak. She's very smart young lady and I  supported her and what she said. I  told her that I wanted she abd  Jennifer to make the decision after all it's their room and they're going to be using the rug.

Scott did come yesterday afternoon for a short time and I was able to discuss with him several things that are minor and will probably be done Wednesday evening when they're all here for our dinner together. Scott said he will definitely be taking his two days off, which are Wednesday and Thursday.  As of now we are planning an outing  Wednesday as Pat wants to get a haircut and we have a couple of other stops, including eating lunch at Sonny's BBQ, as I mentioned yesterday.

As far as I know at this point we are not expecting any visitors today but if someone stops they  will certainly be welcome as I can always talk with someone.

It is a couple of hours early to be having my breakfast  I asked Pat if she would take care of her own breakfast today. She has about a day and a half of the prednisone  to take and she hasn't really slept very much in quite a few hours and didn't again last night but hopefully that will soon end. She has a terrible cough t said her throat was not sore which is good.

Carol, it sounds like you will be pretty busy the next couple day but that you are getting prepared early. It is interesting how just when we need something like the Bible verse that it appears.  There must be a lot of quilters in the Denier area since you have to wait to get your machine serviced.  As I recall it probably takes about that long at the Bernita dealer to have a machine serviced.

Ellie, I welcome a quite day and this week with the holiday on Thursday I will have he aid here only on Tuesday.  I can always take a sponge bath.

Janet, I think you expressed to Jackie what we all intended.  I know I came across too strong.  In Al-Anon we have a saying "to take what you like and to leave the rest".

Seven Ways To Whet Your Appetite For God's Word
 (By Connilyn Cossette & Anonymous)
 [Edited]

Has the Word lost its sweetness to you? Here are some ways you can stir up your appetite:

 1) Instead of reading the Word for the sake of knowledge, or to prove a theological point - read it as a love letter from the God of the Universe to you.

 2) Ask the Father to give you a new appetite for his Word, to make it come alive to you in a fresh new way, and show you how Jesus is written in every chapter from Genesis to Revelation.

 3) Slow down, take it in a chapter or even a verse at a time; savor the Word like you would a delicious dessert.

 4) Go back to the beginning, start with Genesis, look for evidence of God's grace in each chapter.

 5) Read it like a child, with the eyes of simple belief. Read the Word for what it actually says and not what you have been told.

 6) Ask the Holy Spirit to show you new things that you've never seen before. You'll be surprised what jumps out at you when you go searching.

 7) Don't get caught up in commentaries or what some other people say the Word is saying but rather let the Lord speak to you through the Word itself.

Taste and see that God's Word is "...more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. (Psalm 19:10)

Carol. Preserving the faith......I prefer to think that my Father is protecting me from what could be much worth.  He is my hope and His mercy and grace sustain us.  Love you Carol I will be praying.

Janet perhaps Oldiesman can give you your username, and you can change your password.  I cannot get on either however I never did go on very often.  Also there may be someone on CP that could find and give you your username?

Jane you are an inspiration to me.  If I can do all that you do when  am in my 80's I will be happy.

Jackie to go from disappointment to disappointment can be wearing. I have a friend who only see the bad things in her life.  I also have a  different friend who looks at the blessings that God provides us with.  Both have had many disappointments and have reasons to be discouraged.  The second friend I am referring to takes this verses in Philippians

Philippians 4:8 and 9  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Life can be so hard, and if we turn our face to the Bible we can overcome everything with God's help.  Jackie I am not preaching at you , rather I am preaching at me.  If I dwell on the 4th chapter of Philippians the Word "gets me through" the hard times.  Try meditating on this chapter as will I, lets see if the words will change our mindset.  I am praying for you.

June 30th my grand daughter died.  Heather arranged to have family out yesterday, to celebrate Kimi's life.  I decided to let them have use of the "farm" while I took our two fur babies out to take some pictures. John and I had a wonderful day, I feel we celebrated Kimi's life by taking pictures, something she loved to do, and kept the stress off Zeke at the same time.  He loves little kids, however listening to their squealing in delight causes him extreme stress as he thinks someone is being hurt.  This was easier for the Boys.

Have a wonderful day folks, Your 4th of July is coming up this week, so enjoy the celebrations and stay safe.

Love to you all

Carol

It is always comforting to come to this place and read the warm and wonderful posts.  Thank all of you!

Greetings Larry  A splendid long post from you and I wonder if you were what we call in the UK and perhaps America, a 'touch typist'  in that you learned to type at speed without looking at the keyboard.  Before hubby's health issues, he was a touch typist.  Are there many men on the site who are touch typists?

Today, I went to  one of the churches on the Island, as it is Church flower week and the flower arrangements were superb.  When I returned home I re potted a pot bound 'Adams Needle', with instructions from hubby.  As he told me there is a right way to re pot a very large Adams Needle and a wrong way.  I decided to do it my way first and made a bit of a mess of it.  Then I asked for instructions and do you know what, it took me half the time to do the job.  I will listen in future!  /size]

Judy, I don't do much at all any more. ??? Just sit around all day with my computer, TV, and Kindle.  Occasionally I go to the store for groceries, and once a month to the free Senior Movies. I don't even walk out to the mailbox every day. There's no one here but me so I live just the way I want, which usually includes daily naps and staying up past midnight!  ::)

Ellie, let me join your club of night owls.  That certainly describes me!!

Hi everyone on what is going to be a very hot day here in South Carolina as we expect to get up to about 97 today by late afternoon. It looks like it's going to be a nice day around here as Pat has had a good night as did I. She was able to go to bed fairly early for her and I haven't heard her coughing like she has been the last few days and I think she's just generally feeling better and that sure makes me feel better.

The aid called a little after 8 am saying her early appointment had cancelled and that she was on her way. to help me with my shower then I will have free time until about 3 o'clock this afternoon when the Comcast technician should be here to fix my Internet problem. I called yesterday and explained to the tech exactly what had been happening at this house for the last 4 1/2 years thinking that we had a problem with the equipment but realizing that changing the equipment  didn't solve the problem. I told him in a logical way what have been happening and he said he agreed with me in every step that the tech, who was young really didn't know what he was doing as couldn't even put the plug in the wall straight. I told the tech that I I was not going to get up and do a lot of trying to get the back online that we've done so much in the past and I simply wanted somebody to come out here and fix the problem. He was able to find a spot this afternoon and will have a tech here as I indicated above.

So I am expecting to enjoy a nice afternoon of rest and listening to  some beautiful music and also switch over to Willy's Roadhouse on XM radio which I enjoy because I like the old-time country songs and there's some commentary that goes along with a lot of the songs that provide some interesting background of the people involved with Willie and other country stars. I had my breakfast late so will just have a light lunch, probably that Dilly Bar that Scott just brought me (I hadn't expected to see him today so that was a great treat.

I have taken care of a load of laundry that was basically my things anyway and put them away, emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away and now we have another load being washed. . I realized last evening that I can get down my new ramp in the garage by holding on the nice railing we have and using the cane and then I have the fold up aluminum walker out in the garage and I'm going to keep  at the bottom of the ramp and it won't be necessary then for me to use a walker to get down the ramp as II can use the aluminum one to get over to the car and it should make getting in and out of the car much easier as well as not having to take the walker with me. We will have the transport chair in the truck so it will be available if needed. We have some plans for tomorrow that I will give me a chance to test them out.

It seems that everyday is a different adventure as  I had no idea that today would turn out as it has so far.
.

Judy, it sounds like you made a wise decision in getting out and taking pictures and keeping Zeke from getting too stressed.

Ellie, yes I am a touch typist and love to type.  My dad had an old Underwood typewriter with those round keys.  Before I was eligible to take typing in high school, you had to be a junior or senior, I put adhesive tape over the keys and then started typing.  As a professional I wasn't allowed to type on the job.  Finally when computers were introduced I was finally able to type my writing at work and it was much more efficient. In this day and age with the computer I expect there are many men who are touch typists but also a lot of one finger typists.  I am sure your husband knows a great deal about planting.  Sometimes we men do know what we are talking about although if you see men represented on many TV shows we are bumbling fools.

Jane, you have earned the right as well as the need to take things easy.  That is also my goal for Pat with her bad back and feet. As long as I am able I intend to not be an invalid as I enjoy accomplishing something every day but I also now have he freedom to do or not to do what I want and it gives me a lot of joy and peace of mind. We don't go to the mailbox each day.  With the USPS app we can see what is being delivered so have options.

Janet

I'm late getting here today. I've been working on editing George's book, and have it to the point he wanted to get to for this week.  I put in 19 hours on it since last Wednesday.

We went on the Senior bus last night to Liberal for the wonderful Patriotic music program they put on each year. It was so well done, professional quality!  It's done by a large Baptist church over there, and they don't charge admission, but consider it a community service.  I wish all of you could have been there, I know you would have greatly enjoyed it, as we did.

The many ant stings (bites?  I need to google that) that I got on my legs while picking cherries have been itching so bad, makes me want to claw my skin off!  I put something different on it after my shower today, and it seems to be calming the itching down, thank God! I'm so sleepy, because the itching has kept me awake for two nights now.  I believe a nap is in order today!

Jane, glad you're doing so well!  When I mentioned our ages, it wasn't in any way to say that we are old or frail, just that we're aware that one fall could change our lives!  So we are trying to remember to be careful.

Our wonderful house cleaner is here today, for two hours. She surely does make my life easier!

Grandson Curtis came and took us to lunch today...Sweet!!Love those grandkids!

Larry, hope the rest of your day goes well!

Well, it looks like Larry and Janet are the only ones here (so far).

Janet, I wasn't addressing my comments to anyone in particular, I just notice how often a person is referred to as "elderly" and then learn they are younger than me!  I don't feel old until someone in my family points it out, although I am finding it more and more difficult to do a lot of things I have always taken for granted.

Larry, I don't know about earning the right to take it easy. I just know that, ever since Joy died, I don't seem to have any incentive or motivation in life.  I guess you could say my joy also died with her.

I was reading the paper that comes with some of my meds, and saw that one "may cause drowsiness" ... aha there's my excuse!  I seldom manage to watch a TV program to it's conclusion if I'm sitting in my recliner.  I have to get up every few minutes and walk around, get a cup of coffee, wash dishes, or come to this computer to stay awake!
Now that's my excuse and I think I'll hang on to it.

Thinking of grandkids... I have 8 but they have given my 15 great grandkids.  Recently Karmen celebrated her 8th birthday.  I messaged her mom, Becky, to be sure and let her know how much I love my Special K.  Becky made a voice reply (I don't know how) and Karmen said "Thank you, Great Grandma, I love you sooo much. You're my special G"

[color-black]It was obvious from what I wrote here yesterday that I was really in a middle and was getting things confused when I spoke of the Audible Book Club and staying in whee it is nicer o-tha being
