From Chris Saunders

"Receive with meekness the engrafted Word which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word, if you are only a hearer then you are deceiving yourselves." James 1.
Live in the word of God, the Bible is your best friend, it will teach you how to live right and if you live right you will die right.. Dying to self while living right is the most important thing.
A person who sits in the congregation and hears the word, and agrees with it all, but then goes away and doesn't let that precious word change him. Who never gives to the poor, who is neither generous
with his time nor his money or possessions is a miser in more ways than one.
He is not living right.
We are called to live right in a wrong world. A generous man is a happy man, always giving and not counting the cost, for he knows that he is giving to his Lord through others, and is happy to do so.
God bless you this day and show you where to give.

It is a perfect day for baking - chocolate cupcakes and a small chocolate cake.  Next week our daughter and family plan to visit us in the yard appropriately 6 plus feet apart.  We have taken the rules seriously and yet see too many easing their space requirements.  I hope everyone is safe.

We have been using the computer for chats with family and friends.  It will be so nice to be able to hug again.

Judy:  Curious about your church & others nearby.  Are they closed?  There are so many losing jobs here so this is a trying time for sure.  Thank you for your work on this site and all of your messages of trust.

From Chris Saunders

"Pure religion, undefiled, before God and the Father is this. To visit the fatherless and widows, in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1.

You can go to "Church" at every opportunity, study your Bible every day, pray and praise. But if good works don't come from your salvation, your religion isn't worth much in God's eyes!
We know that we are not saved by good works.. But we are saved to Do good works, Lord make us generous givers, giving from a cheerful, good heart, and Lord keep us from becoming worldly, especially while we cannot fellowship at this time, You are God, You do not change, You are always with us wherever we are, church is no more Your dwelling place than our own room. For You live in us and seek to work through us, may this day be a Holy time, and also a day to do good works. Amen.

Carol Yes all the churches are closed.  Our pastor sends out words of encouragement on a daily basis.  On Sunday he and others broadcast a message on FaceBook or on YouTube.  It is wonderful to be able to connect like that.  We are not getting together with anyone who is not tested.  Doug our trucker son lives with us, when he gets home he keeps his distance.  Heather and Jon (daughter and SIL) have been tested, and are safe as they stay isolated as well.  Other family we steer clear of. I am looking forward to this ending. I am missing my grands! Most people are following orders.  Our premier Doug Ford is looking at very slowly relaxing orders.  He wants to get businesses reopened. Justin Trudeau is a dictator. (He has effectively taken all weapons away from us.) He has said this won't be over till there is a vaccine. The minister of health has said that there will be enforced vaccinations. With all that is on the news about the vaccination there are a lot of people refusing to be vaccinated.  That will be a matter of wait and see.
There seems to be a rebellion of many non christians against the One World Order.  That is great however we as Christians know the end result.  WE have read the last chapter in The Book!

How sweet it is to listen to music posted by Judy while reading a couple of notes.

I slept so poorly last night that I had to stagger back to bed and just woke from two hours of deep sleep.  Not one of the children or friends have entered this lonely house for it seems like forever.  Don is high risk.  On Mother's Day, our daughter and family will visit from the lawn - hopefully there will not be rain.  Last night, we had a tremendous electric lightning show that went on for more than a few hours.

Judy:  I agree with you on going slowly on reentering our regular patterns of living.  Even scientists don't agree on when we can live openly again.  It feels like trying to walk across a freeway and you can't see the cars coming but you can hear the danger.  Praying for common sense guidance for everyone!

Now to load and listen to the 2nd song - many many thanks.

Greetings Everyone    Apart from standing outside my front door, I have not been out of the development area I live on, since last Thursday.  We have to be guided by the scientists and clinicians when the easing of restrictions takes place.  Businesses can only open when it is safe to do so.  We must never put wealth before health especially during this Coronavirus pandemic.    Ellie

Giving thanks for my bowl of cereal this morning.  There are tons of people in this state out of work for various reasons.  The city of Denver (we are in a south suburb) is planing to take a very large area and set up tents & Water, toilets etc. for people.  It looks like a disaster idea to me - putting families all together because there are so many drug addicts here too. Our medical and police are working exhausting hours.  Praying for all these people.

Our children plan to visit on Sunday - sitting outdoors on the grass and I have been concerned about that plan.  They insist.

Ellie:  We have been reading about the UK and problems with over-crowding on the tube  - it is sad to see all the airplanes stacked in rows not going anywhere.  What is sad is churches cannot open.

Here, we are seeing new birds arrive with the change in our living habits.  We also see impatient drivers roaring down this short street just because they are so frustrated.

Thankful for so many things - Don plays Cribbage on the internet with one grandson once a week.  That is so nice - free too.  Thank you, Judy, for the music you put online for us.  Prayers for you and John - for your safety and living.  We use ZOOM (free) once a week for a family meeting.  I am so grateful for that technology.  Zoom shows each of us chatting and highlights the person speaking.  You need internet for that - I like it because we can see how everyone is doing through this time.

Greetings Carol   I do not live anymore in London and in normal times the Tube is at all times very busy.  I imagine the article about the tube is a Daily Telegraph news item.   And news items do not usually paint what the true picture is.  The tube system is down greatly in numbers of passengers and trains.  What trains there are running, are for key workers and those who cannot work from home.   There was another news item I watched concerning a crowded aircraft, which needs to be looked into.  What we have heard is,  flights in future might have to have the middle seat of three left vacant to help stop the spread of  Coronavirus. If that happens, can airlines make a profit.   The aircrafts must remain stacked until the scientists and clinicians say flying is a safe environment to travel in until Coronavirus is no longer a threat.   It is sad Churches cannot open, but gatherings of people are not allowed presently, and we have to be guided where is a safe environment for people to congregate in.   Ellie

I agree about the closures of our churches, i am sure our God would want them to stay open for anyone who feels the need to go inside to pray for whatever..just not seems right that the powers that be can order a church door to close to the public during our pandemic, if ever there is a more precious time for stepping inside a church for praying, it is now.....

Greetings Jackie   The powers that be, issue guidelines for our well being.  And where people gather in numbers of more than five,  it makes it difficult to social distance between persons.  And some of our churches are small in size.   That is why shops, cafes and restaurants are closed in the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man, to minimise contact.  All the churches on the Island are closed, as they will be in the UK.   Agreed it would be splendid to go into our local church and pray, but sadly we are not allowed access to our church or chapels.   I pray whenever I am, be it home or out for a walk.   Ellie

I went out today, Needed groceries, and wanted to see Elizabeth.  She has had a hard time with the isolation. I went in and had a wonderful visit with her. Little Ivy was such a joy to be with as well. It is hard to believe she is 8 soon.  Such a sweetheart.

It was good to get to the store to do some shopping alone, I am hypoglycemic, so I rarely go shopping without someone with me.

Today May 7th we had snow!!! Can you believe that!

Have a great day folks!

From Chris:
Chris Saunders

"God gives grace, God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you, cleanse your hands you sinners, purify your hearts you double minded." James.

It is no good telling a Christian "resist the devil and he will flee from you"
Don't ever do this, this command is qualified. Why should the devil flee from you if you are living just like an unbeliever, with a sinful life and no power?
Why should he flee from you.?

It says " Draw near to God and He will draw near to you".
Think about this.. You are only safe in Christ, and walking in obedience to Him. Judas walked with Christ and lived a double life. Which Christ knew all about, and at a certain time Satan entered into him and he was cursed of all men. Judas did not draw near to God ever.
Yet he had the name of being a disciple, even the Eleven did not know what he was doing.
Draw near to God. Confess your sins.
1 John ch 1 v 9.
Live a Holy life in Christ.
Then the devil will flee from you!

Thankful for the beautiful music.  I have not seen the name of Sandi Patty for years and years.  Such a strong voice.  I will listen to His eye is on the sparrow - remembering? I think - George Beverly Shay?

Today, for a few hours, 3 of our children and three grandchildren (one came with a new girlfriend) came to sit in our back yard on the grass - we had sweets and sandwiches and spent all our time chatting behind our masks.  It brought tears when I saw them - they had a long drive each way and came to visit.  Bringing so many flowers, now I need more potting soil. Our daughter found six packs of active yeast.  Hooray, now I can use my old bread machine.

Churches are really having a struggle with all the layoff's and shut-downs.  People are not able to contribute - I do appreciate most food has not jumped in price but time will tell if that still holds true.  If they suddenly have no income - that is a really anxious time for so many.  Don was out of work one time and our house would not sell - I had to work all kinds of temporary jobs and was always fearful that I wouldn't catch on fast enough.  Remembering that time - when taking a daily walk of praying for some sign and in the midst of the sidewalk there suddenly was a yellow flower blooming through a crack in the cement.  Such perseverance - I took that as a sign of a struggle that we could get through and we did.  Always thankful.

Judy:  Six inches of snow on the ground - well, I hope you need the moisture.

It is a hard saying but must be stated that God has no grandchildren, you may have grandchildren but God cannot. If you are truly saved, then you are a child of God, but your children are not related to God through you.

You may hope that God may have pity upon your children because you are known to Him, He cannot..if God winked His eye and let them..as sinners..enter into Heaven..then Our Lord Jesus Christ would have suffered and died for nothing.
All sinners have to die to self, all rebels have to surrender at the cross.
God has no grandchildren..you sons and daughters of Christians have to realise that
The day will come when you have to surrender to Christ or perish, it will do you no good to say..my mum, my dad, know God....yes they do, by grace, they are known by God and related to Him through the death of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but you are still not.
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..

Carol, Usually May is the beginning of the tiny horrible blackflies the take gouges out of you, also the mosquitos.  This year that is delayed. So are the trees, dandelions, tulips, and other beautiful spring things.

We are planning on a fair sized garden this year, hoping to feed all who help with the planting weeding and harvesting.  I am hoping that isn't delayed as well!

It is wonderful having Doug close by. He has bought an RV trailer, and has parked it in the driveway. As a trucker he is gone during the week and home on weekend.  It is so wonderful so see him regularly.

Bless this special child!

Judy:  I am so happy that you have this special time with Doug.  Thank you for the tips on Irish bread. The black flies sound awful.  In Minnesota, they have Lake flies and they stick to siding and cars.  Of course, they have mosquitoes and they like to bite skin on animals and people.

Nice harmony - thanks again.

Tonight is the monthly ZOOM meeting of the quilt group.  It will be the second online meeting for us. How nice it is to not drive across the city to someone's house.  Don has found an online cribbage game and he can play against one friend at least.

"Is any sick among you?
Let him call for the Elders of the church, and let them pray over him anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick person and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he has commited sins, they shall be forgiven. " James.

Controversial today?
Oh yes, very, in most Pentecostal fellowships this practice has been ongoing for many, many years, do people get healed.. Some do..some don't.
Many churches don't even have Elders..
Isn't the book of James written to Jews... Of course it is. Chapter one tells us.. "to the twelve tribes scattered abroad" Contrary to many there are no "lost" tribes they are scattered all over the world and still keep up their customs.
But isn't all the bible for our instruction? Of course it is. 2Tim ch 3 v 16.
Should we practise these instructions for the healing of the sick today, why not.. But all the quack preachers do it, well criminals use guns..
It all depends upon the user.
Maybe Satan has tried to destroy credibility in this passage so we won't believe it.
Have I personally been prayed over and anointed by Elders.. Yes, several times, over my forty odd years as a believer, was I healed.. Several times.. Were there times when I wasn't healed.. Yes.. But that doesn't change my belief in God's word.
Have I prayed for anyone and seen God heal them.. Yes.
Have I prayed for others and they weren't healed.. Yes.
We shall leave it there for now.
God bless and encourage you this day.

Crossview Church is sorta in my territory.  I know the street - however, all churches are closed (as far s I know). It is a terrible time for church to meet their monthly bills as there are many many lost jobs as well.

Thanks for "Blessed Assurance".  We do like listening to the "oldies".

I spent time in the basement sewing area and barely fixed the machine problem.  It did get fixed.  I have a throw/quilt ready to sew together with the three layers - top, batting, and back.  It is all scraps and whatever - forcing myself to not buy any cotton fabric.  If the church has the annual handiwork sale before Christmas, I will gift it.  We certainly have no need for one more quilt.  Our church supports many things including a school in a poor area and also families of our military.  Some of them, especially with children, have trouble buying school supplies and even food.

Today, we watched 30 old planes fly over - super neat!  Neighbors were outside too - nice to chat with my neighbor.

We have a weekly prayer list we can read with our news letter.  There are names of people who are listed for many reasons, health and healing is one reason.  Years ago, I went through training to bring communion to anyone who wished.  Loved loved loved it - and trained for volunteer at a hospital where I slept overnight one night per month.  Sometimes, no sleep - we took turns since the daytime chaplain would be gone.  I loved it - wish I had the energy again.

One thing noticeable to us with this virus - neighbors want to talk and they miss our close encounters.  I miss it too - we have to be super careful and not let anyone in so we talk outdoors spaced apart.  It helps.

Judy and Chris:

Thanks for your ongoing uplifting messages.

"The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much.
Elijah was a man with the same passions as we, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain and it didn't rain for three years and six months." James 5.
Now then, a man just like us, same faults, same weaknesses, same desires, but he had God's ear, God knew him as His Prophet, a man who would do exactly as he was told, he lived rough, looked rough, but he wasn't bothered about looking nice, he was bothered about living right in a wrong world. He was bothered about the amount of sinning that was going on around him in Ahab and Jezebel's kingdom, Baal the false God was being worshipped as commanded by the Queen, and his frustration was answered by God, and it did not rain.. a hot land with no rain, everything burning up, much worse than we have ever gone through, and God told him to hide away for he was now a wanted man.
Ravens fed him and he drank from a little Brook named Cherith..( Cherith means a cutting, a separation) and that is very apt!
So day after day, the same, waiting for a word from God, living in fear of Jezebel's rage.
But an obedient man, a proper man, who did not dally with sin, a man after God's own heart and so God listened to him and used him.
Could that be you.. Me?
May God continue to work on us.

We just had a call from #3 child.  He just found out he has Shingles and was headed toward a pharmacy.  Apparently, if born before 1980, everyone carries the dormant virus.  Both Don and I had Shingle vaccinations after a church friend said, "If you have to mortgage the house - pay for the Shingle shot.  I remember her having a very painful recovery.   My next shot is on the list when I go for an annual physical.

Some animal or very big bird has poked a hole in our steep part of the front roof.  Birds are swooping around - several years ago, we had to pay for a bee colony to be safely placed in a new home.  It cost us $100 to "save the bees".  This is a new mystery.

How is everyone feeling?  This is almost like being trapped in a 3 day snow storm in some ways.  I am so grateful for electricity still working and water isn't frozen.

Judy:  We had hail but no snow.  Three days now predicted to be into the 80's - we call it whiplash weather.

Janet:  What is happening in your world now?  How is your church handling the shuttered doors?

I have become increasingly discouraged this month with the lack of response on here.

I received a text message that Pat's house has finally sold.  Janice and Andrew have been really busy the past year clearing it out and getting it ready for sale.  This is the end of an era for my family in Guelph. Time to move on!

Have a great week everyone!

Judy:  I haven't had much to say - every day is really dull without contact with friends and family.  the word malaise comes to mind.  Congrats on selling the house.  It has to be sad for you and the family - we are glad that we had one evening with Pat when they drove out of their way to spend a night.  "Time to move on" is a great attitude.

I am supposed to be on the quilting group tonight when they meet on Zoom.  I just cannot do it - nothing to report, no time to even think of sewing something.  We have a grandson's graduation from college party coming up this week, and he is looking for work - isn't everyone?  I feel so sorry for the kids getting out of school with limited opportunities.  They are all hard workers so something will come along.

Our church opened - we can listen to a message on the internet and prefer to not go into the building yet. So very strange. Very good news that you found Janet on Facebook.  I do not check there all the time.

Time for the news, hope and pray for a vaccine.

Greetings Judy  Our lifestyles have changed these past few months.  New ways of shopping with stores allowing one or two people at a time.  Family and friends not allowed in ones home.  Places of worship with closed doors.  As Carol splendidly said prayers for a new vaccine.  Ellie

Families are getting together here in Ontario now..... We have had family over, and enjoyed every minute of it. On Saturday we are having our Heather, Her husband Jon, and their son and his fiance over to help with planting our vegetable garden.  It is huge, and I cannot do the job alone.  We have pooled resources for seed, easily over $150, and the garden will feed the entire family.  Doug won't be working in the garden, instead he will be providing us with meat instead. He will be hunting with John in the fall.

We are all being very careful.

Back on December 30 we came home from LAX with a planeload of Oriental people.  They were all coughing and hacking, adults and children alike.  The middle of January We both were sick.  I had razor blades in my lungs.  When I went to the clinic The doctors words have repeated themselves in my head, not understanding at the time, their importance.  "If you get worse or develope a high temperature, go to the hospital immediately!"  I thought Why would I do that when all I gave to do is take tylenol!  |I did have a fever, I won over it, and moved on.  In hindsight I suspect I had a mild dose of the covid.  Life has gone on, and I am now fine.  My family is doing well, no one is sick.

At 71 I am finding I am low on energy. I admire those of my age and older who have all the energy to do what they do. I am actually envious!

Have a wonderful day everyone, Keep posting your updates,or Just say Hello!

Love you all Judy

My late father idolised Mario Lanza as a tenor voiced singer as father too had a great tenor voice...Father often sang in Italian as he had picked up Italian whilst fighting on the front-line in both Italy and North Africa during WW2 as a paratrooper ( the secret service ) fighting against the Germans and the Japs, and whilst in Italy dating an Italian lady for a period and being chaperoned all the time...Not sure when but my father was missing in action for a couple of months and told me as a young child, " one doesn't need a church to pray.." I am assuming he done enough praying to God when he was by himself and befriended an Alsatian ( German Shepherd ) dog and shared his food with the dog until he met up with his platoon.....
I also share the love of Mario Lanza's tenor opera voice, especially when he sings in Italian ( O Sole Mio / Nessun Dorma ) as i can hear my father singing....

Greetings Jackie   Do you remember the splendid Franco Corelli, he had a magnificent tenor voice.   Franco was tall, dark and handsome, that is some combination 😊  Ellie

Wow!  So nice to read that I was missed!  I did check back a few times, found nothing but music, left a short post.  (But Judy said I posted in April.)  How I miss my email notifications I used to get!  Those kept me up to date!

Oh, well....I'm here now.  We are still doing fine.  Like everyone else, tired of staying home, not going to church (We do participate online) and not seeing family as much as we like.  On Mother's Day, Diane invited us for noon meal, and later Curtis and Toni stopped by with the girls, so we got great-granddaughter hugs!!  They are missing their friends and school.

Granddaughter Abby graduated from Kansas State University, and I attended via zoom.  I feel so bad for all the HS and College grads this year, not getting to have a "real" graduation.  There were only 18 in Abby's Major graduating, so they gave each one a little time to tell their future plans, their favorite memories, and to thank parents, etc., for support.  It was quite nice, and more personal than a huge graduation for the whole University would have been. Abby has accepted a job as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer at a Christian College in Manhattan--New York.  So she is moving from Manhattan, Kansas (the Little Apple) to the Big apple.  I hate to see her go so far away, but I'm sure she will do well.  And she graduated Summa Cum Laude.  She was home last night, so I got my first hugs from her in months!

I'm staying busy doing a lot of painting.  It keeps me sane.

Before this gets too long, I will stop.  Thank you for missing me!  I missed all of you, too!  Getting exercise by walking these feisty little dogs we got.
I think we were out of our minds!  They are really a lot of trouble, but we do enjoy them.

If I am among the missing, yell at me!  I don't mean to stay away!

anet good to see your post. J
Jackie and Ellie  glad to see you also.
Judy how is you kitty.

We are fine here in Oregon. Not much is new. MY Freckles sure misses her Visits to the facilities. She wants to go up to everyone we meet on our walks to say hello. I  miss our visits as well and the fellowship with the other doggie humans. We started back to church last week so we have been twice. We had all of 15 people attending but it was so good to see them all. On a good day we may have 25=30 people. We are a small church.

Marilyn...
...that is one step in the right direction when our church doors open and people can sit next to each other as we once did...I feel for Freckles, how does one explain to a dog why they cant get up close to a human at this period of time when all they want is their continued fussing..

Greetings Jackie  A splendid thought about sitting next to each other in our church. Will social distancing be something that church congregations will have to look into as well.  Ellie
