The Happy Face Of The Mountains
At first a few clouds, mere wisps of steam,
Than more, greater, billowing out,
Then lightning's flash, and om'nous thunder
Torrents of rain, ending the drought
Then night in the mountains, peaceful, cool
Clouds are all gone, and rain has ceased,
Stars are shining, and crickets singing,
A quiet rest for man and beast.
Then glorious morn, another day!
The pow'rful sun so clean and bright!
Air so much purer, fresher, and clean!
I'm glad I'm alive - all is right!
O' bless the Lord for mountain storming -
Refreshing all this lovely place!
O thank Him for His gracious caring -
The mountains have a happy face!
Nothing quite like the mountains after the rain (both in 'real life' and metaporically!)
Thanks for sharing!
A very nice poem Al. There is something about the mountains which seem to bring us closer to God. The same thing is true of the sea. It is possible to appreciate more the wonderful creation of God.
