      Morning Devotional...

David was greatly distressed...but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.                     1 Samuel 30:6

Many of God's dear people have been greatly distressed. David, and you and I as well, have known such days.

How wonderful, as we take the initiative to encourage ourselves in the Lord, then the Lord will encourage us.

What a truth! What a promise and what a God!

May we encourage ourselves in the Lord today, as we read His Word, speak to Him in prayer, and sing praises to Him.

      Be this our one desire,
      Thyself our object here;
The goal to which our hearts aspire,
To meet Thee in the air.

Hi, it is still Wednesday night here on the plains.  I just can't seem to get here before closing time!

We have been away to Amarillo for two days.  Came home tired.  Hubby was not feeling well, so he stayed home while I went to church.  Pastor Doug is teaching the book of Acts, and it is great.

I tried two different times recently to post here, and failed.  Somehow my message disappeared before I could get it posted, and was so late I just went on to bed.  One time I hit preview, and then "back" and it was gone.  The other time I guess my 60 minutes had expired and I didn't know it, and it wouldn't go.  What luck!

Hope all of you are doing well.
Have a great day, and take care.
      Love, Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

      Rose of Sharon
      (Click to hear music)

Words and music by Alfred B. Smith and John Peterson

"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys."
      Solomon 2:1

There's a Beautiful Rose ever blooming,
      In the Garden of God's Love for me;
It has filled all the world with it's fragrance,
      It will last for eternity.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Precious Savior, I'll always adore Thee,
      For with Thee no one else can compare;
By Thy Love so divine, I'm enraptured,
Thou are fairer than all of the fair.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Are you lost in your sins ~ tired of living?
Is your heart filled with bitterness, too?
Come to Jesus, the sweet Rose of Sharon,
He has the power to make you anew.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me

Drat,  I just lost my post again >:( >:( >:(

I enjoyed the scripture reading this morning.  When it seems that there is nothing to encourage us, we can encourage ourselves in the Lord.

I enjoyed the French conversations last night.  Perhaps we ought to open a French conversational thread :D I'd enjoy that.

I trust that everyone will have a great day today.

God bless and see y'all later.

      Anthony.

      Anthony

Meika,  with regards to your thoughts about loving our enemies.  I would say that if people commit evil against us, the Lord (who judges matters perfectly) will bring judgement upon them.  That is, unless they repent of the evil that they have commited.  But it is best to leave such judgments for God to make.  It is not good for us to decide who is and who is not evil, and we should never seek to avenge ourselves or bear grudges against people, because it is only God who can make judgments regarding what is inside of a man or woman.  All that we can do is to seek to  be pure ourselves and keep in a loving spirit.  If we decide to be angry with someone, we could end up being angry with the wrong ones (because we cannot see inside a person's heart and decide which ones are evil and which ones are good).

That is my understanding of some of those scriptures that you quoted.

      Anthony.

      mieka

This make me think of the sad story when God ask Abraham to kill his only son. I often think of this story. I know today Mr Abraham would be judged by all those who know him as a very evil man for killing his child. It would not be believed by anyone today that it was Gods wish. He would go to a jail for doing what is "right" only in the eyes of God. And he would go to his grave a very lonley sad man.
I do understand this is why we are not to judge others. But so often the words of the bible talk about those who are evil. are they evil only for what they do?
Mr Lott was sent into the city to find only one good man. The city was destroyed because he could not find even 1 good man. Did he not have to judge every man in this city? How did he know what was in the hearts of these evil people?

Good morning everyone.  I'm not going to post any particular replies, but I like seeing the threads.  Just wanted to say I'm still around :).  I got my garden planted last night! :D.  Anyway, I have to get to work.  Jen.

      Anthony

Hello Jen.  It is good to see you posting.  I had wondered if you were ok.  You will have to take a photograph of your garden and let us all take a look.  That would be cooool.

      God bless.

      Anthony.

      Carol

      Good Morning all,

We had a wonderful Spirituality session at church last night - it is a tight group of about a dozen regulars.  We have been discussing testimonies written by some church members.

I certainly hope that no one misunderstood my previous post on Franklin Graham - I never meant to endorse anything on being politically correct in order to be invited back to Littleton, Colorado.

I am thinking of Sonja as this is the day of her son's appointment with doctors.

      Peace,

      Carol

      Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the devotional Pat. When we are discouraged we can remember the blessings we have in Christ and find strength regardless of our problems.  How does the line in the song go?  "When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,  Count your many blessings, see what God hath done."

1 Sam 30:6  David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.  (NIV)

Meika, you make very good thoughts about Abraham and Lot.  Here are some things which may help you.

If you go back and read the story again you will see that neither Lot nor Abraham had to decide about how many righteous men were in Sodom.  It was God who did that.  God did not see even 10 righteous men in the city and so he destroyed it.  Lot was at that time a righteous man and he did escape the destruction.

In the case of Abraham he did not actually kill his son Isaac.  He was willing to do it but God stopped him before he did it.  Abraham's faith was so great he believed that if he sacrificed his son God could raise him back from the dead.

Gen 22:11-13  But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.  "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."  Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.  (NIV)

Heb 11:17-19  By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,  even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."  Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death. (NIV)

Meika, you ask such thoughtful questions.  Thank you for doing this.  God bless you.

      --- Papa John    ;D

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Meika ~ I don't know if my Daily Encounter this morning will help or not, but at the end it tells us we are not to judge people, but we are to judge what
others do, say, and teach. I will post the complete writings. As usual I find it very interesting!

[size=3 ONE WAY TO GOD: FACT OR FICTION?

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6,
      NIV).

A Daily Encounter reader writes: "About your 'I Hate
Religion' article. It seems pretty judgmental to me. Are
you saying that the ONLY right way to worship the one true
God is Christianity? If you are, I have a little quote for
YOU, 'Judge not lest ye be judged.'"

Hello Judy (name changed), you ask if I am saying that the
only way to God is Christianity. Actually, I'm quoting
Jesus and God's Word. Jesus said without apology, "I am the
way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me." And again, "Nor is there salvation in
any other, for there is no other name under heaven given
among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12, NKJV).

In actuality, had there been any other way to God, why
would Jesus, the Son of God, have come to earth to die on
the cross for our sins? Furthermore, I would much rather
listen to what God has said than listen to what man-made
religions say. Also, when we decide what is/are the way/s
to God, we put ourselves above God and his Word. This is a
      very dangerous path to follow.

As Jesus also said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For
wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to
destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the
gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few
      find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, NIV).

Yes, it is true that Jesus said, "Judge not, that ye be not
judged" (Matthew 7:1). At the same time God's Word also
says, "But he that is spiritual judges all things" (1
Corinthians 2:15). In other words, while we are not to be
judgmental towards people, we are to be wise and judge what
      others do, say, and teach.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please give me a love for your
Word so that I will always know the truth of what you say,
and so that I am not deceived by what others say--no matter
how comfortable their words may be. Help me to always
choose the way of your Truth, no matter how uncomfortable
and unpopular that may be. Thank you for hearing and
answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

      Good Morning Everyone...

I'm just in from having my hair done!  So I'm "bootiful" as my grandchildren used to say!!!

I'm rushing around now getting ready for my little trip into Toronto for Janice's graduation tonight from Seminary.  Oh, Larry, that reminds me.  I never answered your question!  No, Janice isn't planning on going into the ministry.  In our church, we don't have women pastors but she's maybe planning on doing some teaching in a Christian school or maybe she'll go on to the next level and get the next diploma.  Who knows!?  I do know that Jack would be so pleased with her.  I think that she got 87% in her Greek!!!

Mieka, thanks for asking these questions.  Please don't stop!  It's so nice to read the many answers that you get from the ones in here and we're all learning as a result.  So thanks go to YOU!!

I hope you all enjoyed that hymn today.  I have it playing at the moment and I love the melody.

Now, I must run and do a few things before getting ready to leave.  Phil is coming here to shower and clean up and then we'll go to Toronto in my car instead of his big old work truck! ::)

It is very important to be able to encourage ourselves in the Lord.  This morning's devotional brought to mind a time when Darrel and I were traveling.  We were in an airport restaurant/bar in some Central American airport, and there were many people there who were drinking, swearing, and telling ribald jokes.  It grieved my spirit so much, and I prayed about it, and the Lord said "You do not have to listen to what is going on around you.  Don't you have My Word?"  And I dug out my little travel Bible and began to read, and encourage myself in the Lord.  In just a few minutes' time, I felt like singing and praising the God of heaven and earth, and the stuff around me just faded away.

You're probably wondering why I didn't just go somewhere away from there.......because we were with a group, and I didn't want to get lost from them.  But God can change the circumstances around us!  We just have to remember to call on Him and ask in faith!  PHHN!!

Meika, your questions are so thoughtful, and cause us to dig into the Word.  What a blessing you are, little one!  I love you! :)

The wind is blowing again today, and this time from the North, so the tumbleweeds are all going the other direction today.  I surely hope they bypass us!!!

Meika - it is evident that you do much thinking and that you care a great deal about the things you read.  That is very good.  Keep reading God's Word - it will do you much good.

I do think that Papa John's answers to the things you wrote were very good answers.  Please read those two parts of the Bible (regarding Abraham's potential sacrifice of his son and about the cities of Sodom and Gemorah) again - very slowly and carefully.  Indeed Abraham never did actually sacrifice his son.  But he had to be willing to part with him if it were God's will.  But please notice Abraham's answer to Isaak before going up to the mountain.  When he asked him what they would use to sacrifice he told them that God would provide.  Evidently he believed in his heart that God would not finally require him to sacrifice his son.  God did provide the ram caught in the thicket.  And, as Papa John says, it was God Who looked over the people of the cities and decided that there were none righteous.  It was not Lot.  God bless you as you continue to read!

What a great devotional!  And Mieka...you are sure bringing out great thoughts and questions!  I can hear the pages of our Bibles turning.  I truly believe you have been given godly answers to your thoughts and questions.  Keep it up!  When you learn, we all learn.

I received this in an email today.....

This is something to really remember! After September 11, I happened to call a man on business whom I didn't know and haven't, nor will probably ever, talk to again. But on this particular day, he felt like talking. He was the head of security for a company that had invited the remaining members of another company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space.

With his voice full of awe, he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts were dead. In the end, all the stories were just about the little things that happen to us.

You might know, the head of the company got in late that day because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work, but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone.... all the little things that annoy me.... I think to myself.....This is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless you with all those "annoying" things.

Never drive faster than your angel can fly!
      Happy moments, praise God.
      Difficult moments, seek God.
      Quiet moments, worship God.
      Painful moments, trust God.
      Every moment, thank God.

      Good Morning:
Todays devotional is excellent, as yesterday was a day of discouragement.   My Aunt has been quite ill, she refuses to see a Dr, go to the hospital and infact does not even have a Dr.  but it does seen that today she is some better so that is good.

It is supposed to be very windyhere today also, 20-30 mph. It's 59 f. now and going up to 75 F.
We could use more rain as the water table is down from the drought the last 2 years. However the water in the wells where I live is so alkaline that it is awful even for showers. Everyone on the north side of the highway has to have the water hauled in by truck. for miles.

Mr Anthony, I thank you for your words about loving our enemies. I think the evil is then what is done, and not those who do it, yes?

Mr John, (Captain John  ;D ), I did know that Abraham did not kill his son, It was my wonder what would happen today if he did it. I think everyone would wrongly judge him for it, if he is to kill his son.

I know that God saw the people of the cities of Sodom and Gemorah as evil. I thought he ask of Lott to go into the city. If he could find (I thought it is 1 good man but perhaps 10) only then God would save the city. I thought this is strange because he ask Mr Lott to judge them. To see if he can find anyone worthy of God. I know God knows all who are good and evil, but I thought this was done for Mr Lott to undarstand why the city had to go. (I like this story, I will read it again).

Mr Sowers, this is a great help to me, I thank you.

Yes, it is true that Jesus said, "Judge not, that ye be not
judged" (Matthew 7:1). At the same time God's Word also
says, "But he that is spiritual judges all things" (1

judgmental towards people, we are to be wise and judge what
      others do, say, and teach.

Mr Moak, your answers are always so wonderful and complete and easy for me to undarstand. I hope you never see my questions as a challenge to Gods words. It is only my wish to learn them as they were written.

Ms Janet , when you say to me: What a blessing you are, little one!
These are the words of my dear friend Mr Choy. I had to cry when I read this. The sadness I find is only that which was my delight.

Mieka ~ I have copied the meaning of your name and will keep in among my files. I love it. We are to be fishermen of people for the Lord and I believe you are doing just that! At the end of every Daily Encounter I get, is this fish, <:))))><< !

Marilyn ~ I will see about sending you Bubba's picture and what little I do know about him!

      Anthony

      Papa John,

I love the animation that you posted.  Marilyn, you have started a new craze.

Jerry, that's a good illustration regarding Mieka's name.  We are indeed to be fisher's of men.  I love that sign of the fish.  I wonder if it's copywrited :-\

      Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am late getting here today as it has been a busy day.  Pat had an eye appointment this morning and as soon as we got back and ate a bite of lunch I had some shopping to do.  After going to Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Office Depot I was beat when I got home and had to take a little nap.  When I got up I went to visit my friend, Tom, who is now pretty well housebound and no longer able to stand.  He is looking better overall but I am certain her will never be able to walk again.  He is such a fine man and he has a wonderful wife.  They are both in their early 80s.  Fortunately their daughter, who is a nurse, is now staying with them when she is not at work and that is a big help.

Pat, thanks for the info on your daughter and how she plans to use her seminary degree.  I think I thought yesterday was Thursday in my comment about your attending the ceremony then.  I knew it was today.  That is a beautiful piece of music you posted and am enjoying listening to it as I write.  For years I have loved the music written by John Peterson and have several of his books.  It is time to get them out and play through them again.  He has written many Christian songs, including some wonderful Cantatas for Easter and Christmas.

The devotionals are all very meaningful today.  Jerry, those scriptures leave little wiggle room in interpretation.

Papa John, I like your new picture of yourself.  I believe you could audition to play the role of Ernest Hemingway, if memory serves me correctly.  Must be the beard. ;)

Mieka, I don't believe any of us would ever be angry with questions you may have.  I second what the others have said about what a great joy it is to have you participating with us.

Karma, that is what little ones are suppose to do.  It is their job to be sure their parents have something to keep them busy.  :D

Marilyn, I will have to check your webpage again.  I sent you an e-mail with links to get a couple of pictures of our Mr. Tiggers (our cat) yesterday.  It went to your Yahoo account.

      mercychild

Wow, it's been busy in here today.  I've missed a lot.  I just wanted to share something I heard.  "When you attain your goal, it is merely the starting point for another one."

I thought about it all day.  You know, we are limited in our humanity.  We have ideas of goals we would like to attain for the Lord.  But He has different plans for us very often.  However, God still brings us to different plateaus in our walk with Him.  Different levels of knowledge and intimacy with Him.  I know in my own life, when I see that God has been gracious and brought me to a new plateau, sometimes I feel ecstatic and I don't want to move, because it's such a wonderful place to be.  But God doesn't want us to be content with that.  He has so much more planned for us.  When He brings us to a higher level, it is only another step up to something else He has for us.

Hehe, anyway, there's my mini- life-lesson for today!  It never sounds as good when it's written down.  Anyway, I have to run because dinner is ready!  God bless you all.  Jen.

      Jerry L. Sowers

Anthony ~ I don't believe that fish is copywrited. I know it is used on bumper stickers and emblems for cars and I even have a friend who has one tatooed on her shoulder. I have seen it everyplace imaginable.

Larry ~ That is why I like my Daily Encounters. It doesn't leave any room for doubt because it has the scripture from which it is taken and written about!

Whew!  I am stuffed.  I had a late lunch today.  One of those days that I told myself don't stop on the pc until you have so and so all done.  So it was late.

Then around 4pm, Barb, my SIL, called.  Wanted to know if I wanted to go out to eat with them and Ivalou.  When?  Right away.  So I ran a comb through my hair and walked to their house.  We had Chinese food.  I wasn't hungry but it was soooooo good.  I am stuffed!

But the company was why I went ... not the food.  I really didn't eat that much but I am stuffed.

Did I tell you that I am stuffed?

I got all my PSP lessons done.  All six weeks of them.  Now for a mini-vacation and the next lessons start in June.

Good morning everyone.  I got up very early this morning.  I have been having back trouble and at 4:00 o'clock I couldn't sleep so I got up to take some medicine for my back.  Pain is not fun.  I am reminded of the prayer of Jabez which we read a few nights ago in our daily reading:

1 Chr 4:10  Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.

      Good Morning Everyone!

Yes, I got home at about 1:30 am from Toronto.  It was so nice to be there.  The speaker was excellent and I enjoyed being able to meet old friends.

I peeked in here but my bed was calling so loudly so I just got in between the covers and went to sleep instead of doing the Morning Devotional.

      Have a great day everyone!

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

      Anthony

Papa John, I was sorry to hear about your back pain.  It is unpleasant, especially when we are not able to sleep because of it.  I am happy, though, that you quoted the scripture.  I never realised that Jabez asked to be free from pain as well.  Thank you for pointing that out to us.

Carol, it's so good to see you today and I  hope you have a wonderful day.

Pat, I am glad that you enjoyed the ceremony (if that is the right word), but you must have been very tired.  It's good  to see that you were blessed with travelling mercies.

I usually go out on Friday's, but the weather is too wet.  We visited a garden centre instead and enjoyed a meal.  It is nice not to cook or wash up.

God bless to everyone.  I plan on doing some French study this afternoon.  It would help if I could figure out what has gone wrong with my printer, but I can't at the moment.

Anyway, have a great day and catch you later.

      Anthony

      Larry Hanna

Pat, glad you had such a nice time yesterday and got to see old friends in addition.  I think our daily devotional from yesterday, plus the additional devotional items posted by Jerry, Papa John and others have sufficent content to last us two days.  Get rested up and we will look forward to the devotional for tomorrow.

Papa John, hope you back is feeling much better by this time.  Sometimes it seems almost impossible to get in a comfortable position.

I think Pat and I are going to do some furniture shopping today.  I need a new recliner as I have sort of worn out my old one.  We are also shopping for a new dinette set as the chairs for the one we currently have are getting in back shape, in fact, we had to discard one of them sometime ago as the leg broke.

We had lots of rain again last night with more heavy thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon.  Hope we can get back before they get here.  It is usually later in the afternoon before we get the storms.

Nita, on the reply page you see several "Add YABBC tags: line above the message posting box.  After you get your photo the size you want and get it uploaded to your server, just copy the file location on your server and then click on the fourth item from the left in the second row (it looks like a picture in a frame) and put your cursor between the two tags and paste the path of your graphic there.  If you want to center it once you have that done you can highlight that whole thing and then click on the centering button (the fifth item from the right in the first row of tags and it will put the centering tags around the highligted area.  That technique works for any of the codes that you want to subsequently add.  Hope this makes sense.  Pat, if there is a better explanation please let us know as we are all learning to use this coding, which is a bit different from regular HTML coding.

Hi to everyone stopping by today.  Will be back later.

      Good morning:
Pat, It is good to hear that you had a nice time with your daughter Janice at her graduation and got to meet up with old friends. Better still that you got home safely.

PapaJohn I am sorry to hear about your back pain. Pain is not nice under ANY circumstances. Good that you recalled the Paryer of Jabez. I have the first little book that Bruce Wilkinson wrote withthat title. Jehovah Rapha is the God that healeth thee and I pray our God will take away your pain.

Good day from cool, overcast Kansas, the land where the tumbleweeds roll! >:(

I am getting ready to go to Hugoton.  My kids are having their annual Open House at their business, and I want to go see what's happening there.  Tomorrow I am going to the big city of Campo, Colorado, where I grew up, to attend my ____th year high school reunion.  Well, okay, it's my 45th!  I can hardly believe it! :o  Darrel will go with me, and we are taking my Mom.  She graduated with one of her granddaughters there, after many years of bieng out of school raising a family.  She got her GED and they let her go through the graduation exercises with the kids that year.  She is so proud of that.

I have lots to do today, so I won't be spending much time on the computer.  But I do wish you all a wonderful day!

Pat, I'm glad you are home safely.  We are hearing so much about the SARS thing in Toronto, and how they are angry about the WHO telling people not to go there.  This morning they said there are 400,000 Chinese living in Toronto--I was really surprised at that number!

Pat and Marilyn, thanks for the reminder about Francy Lou's surgery.  It must be frustrating having to wait.

Larry, I hope everything goes well with the shopping.  I was looking at a recliner today for my mother, but it was a little too expensive.  I hope you manage to get one sorted out for yourself.

Marilyn, thanks for your thoughtfulness re the clipart.  It is a great idea.

Yes, I was just watching CNN and the question was asked, "Would you travel to Toronto?"

        So I wrote the following:

          Would I travel to Toronto??

I certainly would.  In fact I did and without any second thoughts about doing this.  I traveled to Toronto yesterday from my city of Guelph and was right in the middle of the area where most of the cases have originated.  I then traveled to the centre of Toronto (Jarvis and Gerrard Streets) in order to see my daughter graduate and I had absolutely NO qualms about doing this.  I never saw a single person with a face mask and I hugged old friends and acquaintances and shook hands with many people.

The W.H.O. decision to issue this warning is just terrible and could cause such panic among the populations of the world and such devastation for the convention centres of Toronto.  If the W.H.O. had just simply come and done their homework in this situation, they would certainly have come up with a very different decision.  The SARS is definitely under control in the city and the Health Care workers who have worked tirelessly to get this problem rectified deserve so very much credit!

Get the word out please that Toronto is a good, safe, clean and friendly city to travel to right now.  This BAD decision by the W.H.O. was simply a political move on their part and they are using Toronto as their scapegoat.  The number of suspected and probable cases in Toronto actually dropped by 10 yesterday, as several were scratched off the suspect list.

Pat: that is a very nice letter and straight to the point. I hope they read your letter on the air. So many times people write in to the different networks and no one pays attention to them. I have a friend tha writes to Fox news at least once a week and to some of the comentators who incur her ire. She also writes to several newspapers, some of the stuff she writes has not been researched and she is really out in left field. But like I tell her, she's a democrat and we don't see eye to eye. Since whe's a friend I casn tell her what Ithink even tho' she tries to get me to change my mind. Haha.

Well it is almost noon here now and Larry the pain hasn't left yet.  I have had a lot of back trouble through the years but this seems to be more serious.  In any case we have decided that if it doesn't improve by Monday I'll go to the doctor.

But the way I look at it back trouble is nothing compared with cancer or heart attacks etc.  I am so very fortunate to be doing so well when I think of many of my Christian friends who are struggling with life threatening problems.

I hope you are all doing well today.  It is a little cool here compared with the weather we had in Florida.  But it won't be long until the warm summertime will here.

I like the promise God made after the flood about the continuing seasons:

Hello everyone....Pat...am happy that you had a wonderful evening with your daughter and her family......and that you are not too tired out....

Hello to everyone in here...it is a busy place indeed and it is soooo good to see all the people popping and sharing  what the Lord has been teaching them and i find it so uplifting each  and every time I come in here....so let us keep coming and telling others about this sight and about the fellowship that we receive in this place and especially about our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
God bless and take care .

Hi everyone.  What a day this has been and we just got home about 8:15 pm.  We weren't shopping all that time.  This morning we did buy matching leather recliners for Pat and I from the Lazy-Boy store.  It will be about 10 weeks before we get them as they didn't have them in stock.  This is a very comfortable chair and should last for many years.  Then we decided to go to Dinette World and we picked out 4 new dinette chairs that would go with our existing dinette table, which is still in good condition.  We then stopped and had lunch and got home about 3 pm.

I had laid down for a rest but about 10 minutes later the phone rang and it was our daughter saying her car had broken down on a major highway about 30 miles from us.  She was calling from a grocery store and we told her to stay there until we got there.  When we picked her up we had to find a tow truck.  We went back to her car and the tow truck arrived shortly and took the car to her friends house, which wasn't too far away.  One of her friends is a mechanic and he was there.  It is apparently the alternator and so we had to go to an auto parts store and pay for the alternator that should be there sometime to tomorrow.  Then we headed back home and ran into terrible weather.  However, God looked out for us today and other than hard rain and slow traffic we made it home without a problem.  There were tornados, heavy hail and severe rain in the Atlanta area but apparently so far it has passed our area, although was headed to the town about 5 miles from here.  There are some other storms headed this way tonight but hopefully that is the worst.

Well, now that I have told you of our day I am going to sign off tonight as am exhausted.  See you all tomorrow.

        Larry

My Brother, My Friend and my treasure. :'(
He died early this morning, I did not know of it until later in the day.
He lived here with us for most of four years. He has been very sick for many months. It was his wish to be on this boat to race with my brothers. The crew is one man short today, to honor him.

I saw him Tuesday for a short time. I wanted to tell him I love him, but he wanted only to hold my hands until he fell to asleep. We know this day would soon come to pass. As I try hard to be strong, I have found in here, many words to help me through this day. Today you are all in my prayers for your kindness to me. My heart is heavy today, but I know my treasure is with God.

        Papa John

Larry, you HAVE had quite a day.  I'm glad you were able to come to the aid of your daughter.  Things usually work out all right.

Mercy Child, I understand the problem your dad had.  There have been times when I had to sleep on the floor.

Jerry, you and Al and I are brothers, see?  We are in the same family and you belong in the same sentence with us.

Miss Mieka, thank you for thinking of me and my hurting back.  I hope you were able to make some good pictures today.  Oh Mieka, I have just read your last post.  I am so sorry about your brother, your friend, your treasure, Chris Castro.  You and all your family have our deepest sympathy.  God bless you.

        --- Papa John     :)

Unlike Larry this has been a day of doing nothing for me.  I got caught up on my recorded TV shows.  Then the phone rang.  Ivalou wanted to know if I would help her eat a pizza.  So I walked over there....in my lounging pj's...and had pizza.  Her grandson is playing baseball this year.  She had the addresses of where he plays but she didn't know where some of them were or how to get to some of them without backtracking.  So she came back over here.  We found all the places on MapSend and now she knows where and how to get to the games.

Then we watched some recorded TV shows.  I had put in 'Ice Skating' on my TiVo.  It automatically recorded Synchronized Ice Skating.  I didn't even know such things existed.  Very interesting.  Twenty to twent-four females/males ice skating...synchronized like synchronized swimming.  Better, I think, because you can see all of them unlike in swimming where part of them are underwater.  We watched the Worlds.....Sweden #1, Finland #2 and Canada #3.  USA 1 got #5 and USA 2 got #9.  The Worlds was at Ottawa, Canada.  Very interesting.  This was on the Lifetime Channel originally.

Mieka...so sorry you lost a dear friend.  Remember our life on earth is temporary.  When you believe in Christ Jesus, we have eternal life in heaven.  You will see your friend again some day.

It is getting sleepy in Indiana!
