Title: New Every Morning~Easter Sunday Apr. 20

Morning Devotional...

There they crucified Him.                           Luke 23:33

The ultimate crime!

The supreme blasphemy!

The vilest obscenity!

The grossest stupidity!

Sinners defiled and dead to God, actually nailed "Him" to the wood.

He, the loveliest Man who ever walked the dust of earth. He healed their brokenhearted, dried their tears, and blessed their little children. He brought the Word of heaven to their hearts and would open heaven to their souls.

Who were "they"?

People like you and me. But, praise the Lord, He did it to procure forgiveness for people like you and me.

                                                                        ~J. Boyd Nicholson~

For me Thou has borne the reproaches,
the mockery, hate, and disdain;
The blows and the spittings of sinners,
the scourging, the shame, and the pain;
To save me from bondage and judgment,
Thou gladly hast suffered for me--
A thousand, a thousand thanksgivings,
I bring, blessed Saviour, to Thee.

MY TRIBUTE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/mytribute.mid)

by Andrae Crouch

How can I say thanks
for  the things you have done for me?
Things so undeservered,
Yet You gave to prove Your love to me?
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee.

To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done.
With His blood
He has saved me,
With His power
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done.

Just let me live my life
Let it be pleasing, Lord, to Thee;
And should I gain any praise,
Let it go to Calvary.

With His blood
He has saved me
With His pow'r
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done,

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus was born in a manger.  Period.
He lived a perfect life. Period.
He suffered rejection and a mockery of a trial. Period.
He was crucified on the cross. Period.
He was buried in a borrowed tomb, COMMA.

He is NOT there, HE IS ALIVE.  He is risen from the dead and lives forevermore.  NO OTHER religion can claim as such.

Pat:  I just tried to post and it said the topic was loaded.  You must have been closing at the same time.   :-\

Happy Ressurection Day everyone!

Good Friday service was so emotional for me - for some reason this year, I had a much deeper feeling during the entire service.

I also have been reading "Let's Roll" by Lisa Beamer, widow of Todd Beamer who died on United flight on Sept. 11th.  It is a great testament of faith and hope.

Welcome Pat Hanna!  You have a terrific husband.

Tomorrow is family day and children will be arriving after attending their churches first.  Carol

Good morning to everyone.  It has been a tremendous encouragement to read everyone's thoughts so far about the resurrection.  One of the most encouraging verses in the bible for me is:

"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

It seems wonderful to me to think that our Lord Jesus Christ is alive and praying for us right now.

God bless everyone and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday Bernard

Anthony.

What more could we ask!

Happy Easter to all.

Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday, dear Bernard . . .
Happy birthday to you!

Jesus said, "nevertheless, if I go away, I will send Him to you."  He spoke relative to the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity.  He is the reason any of us care about our sin, our Savior, and our new lives.  The Resurrection = the Holy Spirit.  Oh pray that He'll manifest His resurrection - in you.

Paul explained it this way:

1 Cor 15:12-20
12   But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13   If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
14   And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
15   More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.
16   For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
17   And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
18   Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.
19   If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
20   But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
(NIV)

I got this in my email a little while ago...

HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!!   Today, marks the greatest historical event in human history...the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The reason the resurrection of Jesus is the greatest historical event is because it is the absolute key to our faith.  Paul said in his first letter to the church at Corinth in the 15th chapter, that if Christ did not rise from the dead, then we are still dead in our sin and most vain of all.  However, if He did rise from the dead, then we have the assurance our sins are forgiven and the assurance of everlasting life. You see, Jesus is either the biggest fraud in the history of mankind, or He is exactly who He claims to be...the Son of God.  The resurrection is the key event.

The historical evidence of Christ's resurrection is irrefutable.  The fact that he died on a Roman cross, the claims of followers seeing the risen Lord, evidence of the empty tomb, the inability of the Jewish leaders to disprove the resurrection claims in the very city Jesus died and was buried, and the radical transformation in the lives of His disciples are all well documented.  His disciples went from being normal men concerned only about there own welfare from the night Jesus was arrested, to bold preachers who were willing to die for their faith.  You also have Jesus' own predictions of His resurrection as well as the fact that soon after was the birth of the Christian church that started meeting on Sunday.  That is significant since these were monotheistic Jews who were used to worshipping on Saturday.

My friend, the Christian faith has never meant to be a blind leap in the dark.  God never asked His children to just believe without any evidence of what we believe in.  He has given us plenty of tangible historical evidence to help us know without a doubt that what is in His inspired, inerrant Word is ABSOLUTE TRUTH.  Absolute truth that you can stake your very life on.  Of course, once we get to the point we accept the resurrection as fact, and we accept His Word as TRUTH, it then demands that we totally and unconditionally surrender our very life to Him.

That becomes the logical conclusion of this spiritual journey.  Because you see, it is not our life any longer, it belongs to Him.  Our purpose is to simply serve and glorify Him.  I pray that on this day in which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, you will recommit your life to Him.  We can all do better.

None of us have given it ALL to Him...we can give Him more.  Make this day the day that you realize that Jesus rose from the dead, to insure that you will live for eternity with Him if you have accepted Him into your life.

I pray you have a wonderful Resurrection Day.  For those traveling to be with your family, you will be in my prayers for a safe journey.  May you be richly blessed as we stand together to proclaim to this hurting and dying world that Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords, and the King of Kings....HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts on the resurrection.  It is a wonderful truth that does in fact revolutionise people's lives.

Our pastor  this morning pointed out there are some doctrines that christians may have alternative views on, but there are some doctrines that are essential to the christian faith.  Of course the teachings on the resurrection are essential to our faith.

It is sad that some elements within the Church of England try to deny the resurrection, but it is so  nice that here on CP you are all rejoicing in this wonderful truth.

It's been a great day on here today with somebody fellowship.

I wonder how Bernard is doing on his birthday?  I trust he had a great day.

God bless,

Anthony.

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/theoldruggedcross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Happy Resurrection Day!

I will remember this day the rest of my life.  It was really something to work for God today and see everything come together right for the two services in our church today.  The music was superb and Pastor David outdid himself.  His sermon was titled...He Holds the Key.  Yes, Christ hold the key to eternal life in heaven.  Because he arose from the dead, we have faith that we, too, will arise from the dead and because of that we should have no fear of death.

Just a wonderfull, beautiful day!

It was sunshiny, then rain, the sunshine, and rain again.  Right now the sun is bright as ever.

Happy Day, everyone!

Hi everyone.  We had two glorious services at our church this morning with our Chancel choir singing at both services (we normally only sing at our 11 am service).  At the first service the church as about half full but at the second service it was packed and they had to bring in extra chairs.  What a wonderful sight as it has been sometime since I have seen our santuary filled.  Papa John, our Pastor preached on the first 11 verses of 1 Corinthians today.

Our youth minister did the Children's sermon on believing on faith but had his little puppy in a cage covered up so the children could not see what he had.  He told them he had a little animal there but didn't show it to them.  Of course, at the end he did show them but he made the point of believing that Jesus was raised from the dead even if we can't see him today.  I thought it was a very effective illustration and one the children might well remember.

Following church Pat and I went out to eat so that she didn't have to cook today.  Our son was over yesterday to see us and our daughter is out of town this weekend attending a funeral with her friend so we were by ourselves.

Happy Birthday, Bernard and many more

Pat, the song "My Tribute" is beautiful.  To God be the Glory.  Judy, the 57 cents story is so touching but so illustrates what can be done if we have faith.

A few minutes ago we opened our new Christian Book Exchange.  I hope you will check it out and participate.  It will give us a wonderful way to share Christian literature with others when we have finished with it.

Larry

We had a great service this morning, I was people coming in that I have never seen before and then some of the regular members had family with them, so our little church had almost a full house this morning. Then after church my 81 yr. old lady friend and I went to to local Chinese resturaunt for lunch. That only the 2nd time she has been able to get out to churchthis year. She is on oxygen with a concentrator at home and uses a walker. iI take her to church when she is up to going.  I love the new section.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BERNARD!!  And many more!

We didn't get to sing this song today, and it is my very favorite Easter Hymn.  So I am going to put the words here and if you know it, we can sing it together!

                               HE AROSE
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord.

Up from the grave He arose!  With a mighty triumph o'er His foes!
He arose the victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever with His saints to reign!

He Arose!  He arose!  Hallelujah, Christ arose.

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior,
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord.
(Repeat chorus)

Death cannot keep his prey, Jesus my Savior,
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord,

Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes!
He arose a victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever with His saints to reign!

He arose!  He arose!  Hallelujah, Christ arose!

Ahhhh.........now I feel better!  Thanks. ;D :D

Our pastor used the chorus "Lord, I Lift Your Name on HIgh" as the outline for his sermon this morning.  In case you don't know that one, and I'm sure probably most if not all of you do, here are the words to it.  He used the last part as his outline.

Lord I lift your name on high,
Lord I love to sing your praises,
I'm so glad you're in my life,
I'm so glad you came to save us.

You came from heaven to earth to show the way,
From the earth to the cross my debt to pay,
From the cross to the grave,
From the grave to the sky,
Lord I lift your name on high.

I will stop before this gets too long, but be sure to visit our new thread!!

Hi, everybody, and happy Rez Day!  I just wanted to thank all of you for the birthday wishes and let you know that yes, I have had a very good day.  We visited my grandpa for Easter (he is 93) and every time I see him it makes me thankful that God has given us all these years.  He is really feeble and hurts a lot, but I believe that God is blessing him with a long life because of the years of dedicated service that he gave to God.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great day.  Sorry I haven't been here much, but I have really been away from the computer lately as spring has come and I get cranked up into the outdoor stuff that I love :-)

God bless all of you!

I'm so pleased to hear how each of you spent Easter Sunday!  I must add to this, how we spent our day too.

This morning our church had two service, we attended the 11:am service.  Janet, we sang the two pieces that you mentioned.  I think my favourite is "Christ the Lord is Risen today.... etc."  I'm not sure if thats the title., its the first line.  We sang it this morning, and I have been humming it all day!

Tonight I attended our Cantata for the second time this weekend.  It was SO GOOD the first time..., I knew I'd enjoy seeing it again... and I did.  Its funny how you pick up things that you missed the first time.

We were invited out to dinner with some friends to their home, then back home here for a nap before church again.

I missed seeing my kids; I did get a phone call, so at least we were not forgotten.

Now before I FORGET.... A very Happy Birthday Bernard.  Tell us how you spent your day!

I just had to come back here and add this note:

Judy B., I hadn't read all the postings from April 18th., and the story of the little girl's 57cents.  That sure did bring tears to my eyes.

At first I ddn't think it was a true story, til I read the last paragraph.

I encourage anyone who missed Judy's April 18th posting, in NEW to go back and read it.  It sure is moving, and one I won't forget for a long time.

I'd love to see that church that was built using her fift-seven cents!! :'( :'(

Howdy all!!

You know, its sad, but I think sometimes as Christians, we hear the Christmas and Easter message so much, we become hardened to it.  I can honestly say, I felt the power of Easter today in a fresh new way.

Before we went to church, Bernard was practicing the songs he was supposed to sing in the cantata, one of them being, "He's Alive."  I was feeding Travis breakfast, adn Bernard got to the line, "She said they'd moved him in the night, and none of us knows where." and chills ran over my body, when I realized the power of the resurrection.  I heard Chuck Swindoll say one day last week, "The stone wasn't moved to let Christ out; it was moved to let us in."  How awesome is that????  So, anyway.  Easter was awesome, way awesome.

I hope all ya'll had a good 'un too!

I'll be around . . . .

Popped in to say goodnight too.  I love reading all the posts though.  It's a nice thing to go to bed to.  I have to tell you all, God's been bringing me some really hard lessons lately, and it's so nice to come here and get all the encouragement.  I really need it sometimes.  God bless you all.  Have a great rest.  Jen.

I'm popping back in to say "Nite-nite"!

Jen - I didn't know you were having struggles... I'll be praying!

Love,

Judy

We're glad that you all had a wonderful Easter.  It's wonderful to think about the real meaning of the day and how the Lord died so that we might live.

Let's continue discussing in our next thread...
