Morning Devotional...

(Anna) coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of Him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
Luke 2:38

Anna's first words were heavenward. With sincere appreciation, she thanked the Lord for the advent of the long-awaited Christ, of whom Simeon had just spoken.

In thus rendering her thanks, Anna was spiritually attuned for testifying of Him to "all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem."

She established a "God first" priority--a perfect example for effective witnessing!

Fresh from converse with your Lord, return
And work till daylight softens into even;
The brief hours are not lost in which ye learn
More of your Master and His rest in heaven.

MARILYN~I, too, understand your sadness at this time of year. :(   I am always alone away from any of my family on Mother's Day ... add to that the fact that my mother died on Mother's Day!

( I used to say she probably planned it that way so none of us would ever forget her)

Think of the happy times, my friend, and look ahead to this summer when you will be living right next door to your son!   :-*

Marilyn, is there an older lady you know, maybe in your church, who is also alone (in the natural) whom you could take to lunch or do something special for on Mothers Day?  That might help to ease your own feelings of lonliness.  I am praying for you, dear sister!

This if from my morning devotional yesterday, and I thought it was really good, so am sharing it here with you.

May 8 - Keep Quiet

"A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards." (Proverbs 29:11)

One of the things that you and I as believers must learn if we want to be faithful servants in the kingdom of God is how to keep our mouths shut. We need to master that skill.

When we get our backs up about something, we think we have to let everybody know about it. "I'm just going to give them a piece of my mind," we say.

Don't make that mistake. Nobody wants or needs a piece of your mind-- and if you give it to them, you'll only end up alienating people and bringing harm to yourself. Instead, learn to keep quiet.

This especially applies in the area of spiritual insight. When the Holy Spirit gives you discernment about a situation, don't go spreading it all over town. If you do, you'll come to the place where the Lord can't trust you with revelation and insight into things and situations.

I've seen that happen. I've known intercessors who have received revelations about someone's weaknesses or needs. They have been given insight into the problem in someone's life, so they could pray for that person. But, instead of keeping that information between themselves and God in prayer, they told others about it. As a result, they lost their effectiveness as an intercessor.

Don't let that happen to you. Develop the quiet art of the wise man, and the devil will find it increasingly difficult to harm your prayer life and ministry to others.

Marilyn:  Just hold onto the thought that many people are praying for you this weekend with your situation now and the move soon.

Joan:  It sounds like you went to an interesting place in Atlanta.

Janet:  Thanks for yesterday's devotion.  Yes, wind can be so annoying and we sure get it here.  Sorry about you tomato plants.

Papa John:  I am hoping that the pain meds are helping.  Happy Birthday !!!!

Karmat:  Happy Anniversary!!!!

Thank you Janet, your devotional certainly speaks to me (how did you know ;D). That has happend to me. The Lord gave me a name  in the middle of the night and in the morning I called and told someone else to also pray for that person,. The reason was unknown to me what the need was I mean, I just got the name. I used to get names in the night frequently and would do the same thing, I no longer receive those revelations. I considered myself spanked bythe Lord.

Good morning to all and Thank you for the prayers.

Marilyn

I go this in my email this morning I want to share it with you all.
Family attitude
The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is
fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today
Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. "I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room .... just wait."
"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged...it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it ..."It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away .....just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account .....you withdraw from what you've put in . So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories. Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
FAMILY
The Company
we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think?
So what is behind the story?
Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Good morning all!  Whew! we survived the storms here last night.  It seems it was thundering and lightening all night long with lots of rain hitting the windows.  I walked outside this morning and there are swimming pools everywhere.  But, thank God, not in my basement!

Marilyn ~ It seems to me that ALL holidays are lonesome when you are single.  Like Friday nights and eating out.  That is family night and here you are alone or with a friend.  But I had those happy times so I have to remember them.  Also take a friend out to eat tomorrow.  You might just make her day as well as yours.

Today is our day to have lunch at a Chinese place with the people who built my deck.  Dennis and Julie are so sweet....maybe it will rub off on Jerry... ;D  Then my DIL asked if we would be available tonight for them to take me out to eat.  So we are going to a steak house tonight.  Also one of my nieces and great-niece are coming to Ivalou's tonight so I want to be sure and see them.  So a busy day!

I pray that all of you have a wonderful day with our Lord.

Well, what a chatty bunch you've all been today!!!

Great to have two celebrations too!

I got online this morning and was paged by an old friend from 1957 and he told me that the pastor who married Jack and I passed away the other day and the funeral services are this morning but about 4 hours away!

So that was sad for me to learn that.   I was just asking about Sam when I was at Toronto Baptist Seminary graduation with Janice and everyone I asked said how well he was doing and happy to be still preaching.

We were the first large wedding he ever did and he was so nervous that day.  That was a good day back in 1961.

Well, I have to go out and spread a lot of earth around.  I got two huge bags sitting in my driveway and one is for the lawn so I better get at it.  It's supposed to rain tomorrow so that will help it settle down.

I'll be back when it's time to have a coffee break and you can be sure that while I'm out there I'll be praying for you all.

Check our Missionary Corner.  There's an email in there you should all see from Lebanon.

Marilyn, thank you so much for sharing the email about the elderly lady who decided she would be happy.  I am a firm believer in a person making up his/her mind to accept what comes their way.  The key line for me in the email was, "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged...it's how I arrange my mind."

Looks like we are going to have a nice day here.

I'm awesomely created in HIS image, and I'm filled with his spirit.  It's Christ in me, the hope of glory.  I'm a warrior, a victorious warrior, coming against powers and principalities and wickedness in high places. God has given us ALL things that pertain unto righteousness....hallelujah!  He's worthy to be praised, and worshiped and adored.

I've heard from several over the past month that they could login but then couldn't post.

I've suggested to a few that after typing in their name and password that they tick the little box "Stay Logged In" and that might help and it worked for Francy Lou today so maybe if you're reading this and you've been finding the same problem, try ticking that box.

I have been out and about to the Post Office, Gas station, grocery store and the Library. There is quite a crowd at the library for the wild west days, they even have the fire trucks out there and the kids are dressed in the fireman clothes and using the hoses to knock down pylons with the water. Everyone  seems to be having lots of fun.I took Gitsie with me today. Ususally Bebe goes but Gitsie needed a little treat  too. Now I am home again washed my car finished folding the laundry and am watering the trees. it is 71 no breeze. I have allthe windows and doors open to air the house and cool it off some. ot hot enough to turn on the A/C yet.

A gorgeous day today and our daffodils and tulips and grape hyacinths are at their peak.  I took some pictures I'll post in the photo forum.

Gene got his mower fixed (to the tune of $65.:-\ ) and finished up the lawns he couldn't get done yesterday.  Now he and a couple of friends are trying to fix the hood of the truck so it will open as it should.

I've been making sure I have everything backed up on my PC so I can reformat and install Win XP.  The fellow who built my machine three years ago put in a copy of his own Win98 rather than a new one, and when I found out, I decided that as a Christian I should not be using an illegal system.  Soooo.... sometime between Monday and Wednesday of next week I'll be delving into the mysteries of XP.

It's great to be able to celebrate the two things on the same day.  The Lord richly bless all of you.

I am off to bed, so I see you all tomorrow.

Anthony.

Goodnight Anthony!

As they say (or used to say when I was a wee toty tot...)

Sleep tight,
Don't let the bugs bite!
If they bite
Squeeze 'em tight
So they won't bite tomorrow night!

My granny from Chester always said that to me when she tucked me in!

Whoooeeee  I've been busy today :o  I decided to get to work on my homepage and get some more pictures there.  First, I needed to scan some more photos ... I thought I knew right where to find them but...alas!  It took some tall doing to find even a few. It seems my daughters have gone through the stash I've kept through the years and made off with a lot of photos (of themselves, of course).  I seem to remember this happening when we were sorting photos for Jean's memorial service.  But what do I know    ::)

Anyway, I did finally get another page together and uploaded to my website.  So progress is slow but it is still progress!!

My daughter, Joy, who is in Mexico, just emailed me and said that in Mexico they celebrate Mother's Day on Saturday ... so she wanted to wish me a Happy Mother's Day.  She is going to a wedding on the beach at sunset this evening....sounds like a beautiful event.   :D

I'll try to get back here before Pat locks up for the night.  Until then, y'all take care, y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Papa John

Jane, a wedding on the beach at sunset sounds very romantic.

I just noticed that beside me,  Pat Scott, Jane Walker, Marilyn, and Anthony are here.

Happy Mother's Day to those who are mothers.  Anthony, that let's you and me out.

Yes it does, PAPA JOHN  especially in Mexico, with the warm breezes blowing and the sun sinking into the Pacific Ocean..... Aaahhh :)

Thanks for the Mother's Day greeting ... Tell Cornelia
Happy Mother's Day from me, too .... Okay?   ;)

Do you think they ought to have a son's day Papa John?  I could  just imagine my mother buying me chocolate ;D (we love each other really ;))

Anthony.

I have been watch 3 hours of programs on christian TV about godly mothers. How wonderful to see Christian mother and daughter and sons talking about how they love each other. Now all the mothers are going out into the audience hugging everyone.

Etta Sue

Good afternoon.  What a wet day in Indiana.  Even rained out the practice and qualifications at the 500 track.  While we were eating with Dennis and Julie, it was lightening, thundering and the electricity was flickering.  Did it stop us from eating?  NO!

I took a lot of pictures today for the future challenges.  I have them all ready to upload and then post.... ;)

Now we are waiting on Tony and Charlene.  Got an email around 4pm saying they would be here between 6 & 7PM.  It is 5:30pm.

I hope the rain is over.  The is flooding stage nearly everywhere.  Water was even running over my road west of me.

Good night to you chatty bunch!!!

Jesus

Jesus! before our eyes;
Jesus! within the breast
Jesus! above the skies;
Jesus! when up we rise;
Jesus! eternal rest!

I'm logging off early tonight.... but before I do., I wish all the Moms here, very Happy Mothers Day! :D

Is it too late to wish Karma and Bern a Happy Anniversay? (gosh, 6 years., Friday, it will be 45 years for Norm and I) :-*

A belated Happy Birthday (and a hug) for Papa John!...Cornelia dosen't mind, does she Papa John?

This afternoon Norm bought more shrubs for our yard.  Now that we are $300.00 lighter in the wallet, I hope thats the end.  Its difficult to keep everything watered, especially when the city puts a watering bylaw into effect, that we aren't to water with the garden hose!  Our lawns are sure a mess. :)

It's so nice to see you Judy!  Sounds like your garden will be nice.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Janet - You have such wisdom... and I appreciate it.  Your devotional May 8th was such a blessing.. "Keep Quiet" is one I will keep!

Also., your advice to Marilyn... I could easily think of two or three widowed ladies in my church that I could spend Mothers day with if I was alone.  Thats such good advice, Marilyn.. I hope you do that.  I'm thankful that Gilbert is right next door.

Don't worry... I'm sure the other kids will be thinking of you on Sunday.  They may not call, and thats a shame, but I'm sure you are in their thoughts!

God bless you... you are a special and dear friend!

Lovingly,
Judy

Hi everyone.  First of all Happy Birthday, Papa John and Happy Anniversary, Karmat and Bernard.

I have read over the messages but am just too tired this evening to do any more than say Hi.  It has been a busy day.

Pat

Talk to you tomorrow, Larry!  Go and have a good rest.  You need to be rested up for Mondy.

Larry, thank you.  Have a good night's rest.

Judy, Cornelia doesn't mind, especially since it is in cyberspace.

Time for our Bible reading.  We are still reading every night.  We are ready tonight to start with the third chapter of Ezra.

Judy I am not next door to Gilbert yet, not until July 12th.

I called the 81 yr. old lady (Martha) that I take to church, she isn't feeling well, pain in her chest, lungs and back so she isn't going to church tomorrow. I am going over to visit her after church and take her some books I picked up for her at the Library. She likes to read alot. She and I usually go out for lunch after church on most Sundays. But last year on Mothers day her grandson took her to lunch instead.
Everyone else has someplace to go.

I want to wish EVERYONE a happy MothersDay tomorrow, even if you are not a mother, OK?

And Ms Karma and Mr Bernard a Happy Life, Hundreds more years, OK?

And Mr Captain Papa John, a most Happy Birthday.

For me it is a day to SHOP.  ;D ;D ;D

And a (((hug))) to Ms Pat.  :)

mieka

Ms Marilyn... Please do not be sad, OK?
I often wish I have a mother to miss.... :'(
I wish I have some moments I can look back and treasure.

The sadness is only that which was your delight...?

((((HUG))))

karmat

I think Marilyn can adopt Mieka, then they will each have a cyber mother/daughter.

Would say more, but my FIL is staying with us tonight as my MIL stays with Bernard's grandfather in the hospital.  The computer is in the guest room (or should I say the guest bed is in the computer room? ;)), so I really need to be scooting so he can go to bed!

It was a beautiful day today.  Hope everyone has a good night/morning/afternoon!

We had a busy day, with Aaron's graduation and reception and then the mother/daughter banquet.  Diane came, and she and Abby just left for home.  I just wanted to say goodnight to all of you before Pat locks the door.  See you tomorrow!
