Morning Devotional...

Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Peter 2:24

This verse has been used by God to bring the assurance of salvation to many people. It answers to the question, "Why the cross?"

The Lord Jesus in His coming to Calvary dealt with this outstanding need of humanity, their sinfulness. Only He could do it, for no one else was sinless. He bore our sins in His death on the cross that we might "live unto righteousness."

He "was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification" (Rom. 4:25).

Is He your Saviour?

I have neither grace nor merit--
guilty sinner is my name;
But, believing, I inherit life
which only Christ could claim.

Janice

Hello friends, I am in Amarillo, TX using my son-in-law's computer.

Earl was admitted to the coronary care unit ICU at a hospital here today.  He has congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and has had a heart attack.  The doctor said those who have diabetes can have silent heart attacks.  (He didn't feel it).  They are draining off the fluid buildup from his lungs etc, and will work at getting his heart back in rhythm, and he will have a heart cath tomorrow.  We will be here several days.

Thank you for your prayers.
Love in Jesus,
~Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

 ??? Mr Jerry........

You have not make a post for a very long time.   ???
Is it because others might see you have a rabbit ears?

I sometimes have a shame for my ears. These make me happy to have mine.  :P

;D  (I love you Mr Sowers).  ;D

Ruth Ann Bice

Janice, I'll be praying for both of you. Hopefully they can get things taken care of shortly and get him stabilized.

Yes, each year my doctor does a special heart test because I, too, am diabetic. It is to let them know if there's hidden damage.

Jerry, I love your new photo! Mieka, I love your work - you made me giggle tonight.  ;)

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Anthony

Before I say anything I must congratulate Meika on capturing Jerry so well.  It's a pity that we couldn't get a photo of someone moving the ears to get a better reception though ;D

Great shot Meika!!

Anthony.

Anthony

Good morning to everyone on Christian Photographers.  I do trust that everyone will have a great day today.

Welcome Corpulhicks
I do pray that you will settle in with us all and feel comfortable enough to tell us a bit about yourself.  I look forward to getting to know you better.

Ruth, it sounds like you had a very busy weekend with Mother's day, but it is nice to see the family during these times isn't it?  Hope the rest of the week goes well.

Etta Sue, congratulations on the great great neice.  What a joyful occasion for all of your family and the baby seems a healthy weight.  God bless the little one and the parents.

Marilyn, how strange that they sent you a different camera to what you ordered.  I hope you have lots of fun with it.  I am sure Sonja will help you with it if she knows the make and mode.

Jeanne, it is good that you decided to be ethically correct with regards to your operating system.  A little leaven can leaven the whole lump.  It's a good witness putting this up on the forum.

Pat, I am glad that you have had another Mother's day today.  It must be nice to make the event last for a few days.  The hanging basket sounds great.

Ruth Ann, thanks for the link to the rabbits ears, I couldn't get it to work though but that doesn't matter because Meika has provided us with a photographs.

Hi Marilyn and Sonja, (Marilyn, it was good to get that message from Gilbert.)

Karma, how can you compete with a nation that gets out of bed six hours before you do  8) 8) 8) (p.s. Now if I had worn your hat with the glasses I would have looked cool ;D)

Janice, I was so sorry to hear that your  husband is so ill.  How devastating for the family.  It is good that we have an Almighty God to bring our difficulties to though.  I am sure that all of the group will be praying in the coming days.

Anthony.

Anthony

The devotional was so great this morning.  To think that we do not have to pay for our sins in any way.  So many religions seem to be trying to do this.  Thanks for putting the devotional together Pat.

If Larry looks in today - the Lord bless you brother.  We have praying for you through yesterday and today.  We trust that all is well with you.

Anthony.

Judy McKenna

Haven't been to CP for a couple of days, but before I look back, and see what all I've missed; I must tell you Janice, that this morning when I have my devotions, I will pray for Earl.

I won't forget to pray for you and the family either Janice!

Anthony:  Good picture of you!.. Pretty cool lookin' Brit there Anthony!! ;D

Meika:  Love Jerry's new picture!  Should have been on for Easter!

Etta Sue:.. a great great niece?? ..wow., you must have a large family.  Do you have family reunions? ???
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Judy McKenna

Jane:  How well I remember baby pictures of Autumn Rose.  I remember commenting (along with so many others on S.Net) on her lovely name.

BTW , does she still have those chubby and rosey cheeks?  You should put that picture here in photos so the friends here could see what I mean by "those chubby cheeks!"...so cute! :)
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Judy McKenna

Hmmm, now I'm a "Full Member". :D.. can someone explain this though... I'm at 102 posts for the last three posts... shouldn't it be 105 posts? (here I go again with another dumb question)...!! ??? :-\
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  First of all I want to thanks you all for remembering me in your prayers yesterday as I had the angiogram done.  One of our ministers visited with me, prayed with me and read the scriptures before the procedure.

It was a fairly quick procedure as there was nothing they could do with what they found.  My 5 stents in the bypass are 100% blocked so in essence they are gone.  There is still some bloodflow in the original artery that was bypassed 15 years ago.  God has looked after me in that I haven't had another heart attack when that site closed.  My heart is weak.

The doctor changed my medicine dosage, took me off one of the heart medicines and gave me another.  A little after 8 pm last night I was allowed to come home.  The doctor told me to do what I felt able to do.

I am also going to have a series of treatments called EECP, which is a noninvasive, outpatient proedure to improve perfusion in areas of the heart deprived of adequate blood supply.  As I understand it, after talking to someone at one of the clinics, you take 35 treatments by going 5 days a week for 7 weeks with each treatment lasting an hour.

Janice, glad to hear that Earl is where he can get the care he needs.  Hope they have some warm blankets for him in the cath lab as that has to be about the coldest place in the hospital.  Getting the fluid off will undoubtedly make him feel a lot better.

Pat, thank you for the explanation on the devotional yesterday.  I really wasn't trying to point out a typo but thought I might be missing something.

It was nice to read of the Mother's Day activities of so many of our folks.

Joan, sure hope Truett is feeling better today.

Marilyn, that is a wonderful praise report.  Hope your finger is better today and doesn't get infected.  I will be looking forward to seeing some pictures from your new camera.

Mieka, that was certainly a good picture of Jerry.   ;D

Sonja, that message from your son is certainly a keeper.

Ruth Ann, don't think I have ever had strep throat but know it is not something to fool around with and that it is very unpleasant.  Hope you are well soon.

Jeanne Lee, sure glad to hear you didn't experience any problems in installing Windows XP.  I think you will enjoy it.

I also want to extend a warm welcome to Corpuhicks.  Look forward to your postings.

This has gotten long and I haven't mentioned everyone but assure you all that I have read all of your postings.

Marilyn

Good Morning. It is 65 degrees f. here already this morning and cloudy. It is supposed to be up to 92 today. That's the weather report from the Mojave desert.

Pat Good Devotional this morning. I can't ewven imagine the pain and suffering that our Lord went through on the cross, taking upon himself ALL of our sins and ALL of our sickness and disease. Excruciating pain and suffering.

Mieka, that's a great photo of Brother Jerry with his Rabbit ears.  ;D ;D

I'll be back later.

CORPLHICKS!!

We visit every day.  We talk about our children, grandchildren, local politics, aches and pains, sorrows, triumphs.  We discuss the Sunday sermon, our reading of scripture, a new book that touched or troubled us.  We post photographs.  We sing.  We laugh a lot.  Sometimes we cry.  We make an effort to listen intently.

Our visits to CP is our holy time.  As we read each others posts and look at each others pictures, we posts our thoughts, hopes, and fears to each other and to God.  Our posts are a manifestation of Christ in the world.  Being part of the Body of Christ is not a private walk with Jesus; it is two or three people gathered together with Christ in their midst.  When we show compassion or 'listen' with love, we are expressing Christ.  We are being the church in the world.  Even though we aren't perfect and we don't have all the right answers, we experience Christs's presence in these times together.

Who needs someone to listen???!!!

Marilyn ~ Great that you got your new camera.  Have fun with it.  Learn all about it and click away!  :D

Jeanne ~ Glad you are legit now.  I am still on Windows 98.  It works for me so I probably won't change until it breaks.  ;)

Pat ~ So happy that you had an extended Mother's Day.  Sure makes you feel good to feel loved.  :)

Ruth Ann Bice ~ Yep, those are rabbit ears.  Boy, did I open a can of worms!!  These young uns and ferriners don't know what rabbit ears are!!   ::)  I have rabbit ears on the TV in here and the one in the bedroom.  I pray that you are feeling better today with your strep throat.

Janice ~ I feel for you.  Feel what you are going through.   :'( Keep thinking positive.  Be strong and draw comfort from God.  I am so thankful that God is in your heart.  I will have Earl and you in my prayers.

Mieka ~ I love your rabbit ears on Jerry.  I was trying to do something like that last evening but couldn't figure out how to do it.  You did a great job!!!  He will get a big laugh out of it.

Anthony ~ Good to see you this morning.  Uh, afternoon.   ???

Judy McKenna ~ Well, really, even my immediate family hasn't all been together since Mom passed away 2 years ago.  But since us three kids live so close, we do get to see nieces and nephews throughout the year.  We keep saying we are going to have Christmas in July back in the woods and all are invited but we haven't even done that.  But all of us take comfort in knowing if we need someone, any one of them would be here.   :-*

Larry ~ You gave us good news and bad news.  Not the greatest but at least, you will get some treatments to improve your condition since they can fix the condition.  You know we are all sending up prayers for you.   :-*

Today, it is bright and sunny with a cool 60°F.  A little windy.  But I have to get the mower started and mow the yard since rain is predicted tomorrow.  Sorry, Mieka, but us people in the midwest have to keep our yards mowed and that is a priority in the summer.  Keeps us out of trouble.

Pat~I just love this little poem.
I have neither grace nor merit--
guilty sinner is my name;
But, believing, I inherit life
which only Christ could claim.

I think I will keep it.

Larry~Wow, sounds like God has been taking care of you.  Why can't the doctors go in and fix those arterys?  You would think they could do something as advanced as they are.  Glad to here everything went ok.

Good morning to the rest of ya all.  I will be back.

Larry, I am so thrilled to see you posting this morning!  I just told my husband about an hour ago, that I am praying for you, that your procedure went well.  It doesn't sound like great news, but at least you know where you stand, and the doctors can decide the best course of action.  I pray you have more years here with us, to exalt the name of Jesus.  God bless you, my brother, you are so special to us.

Mieka  thank you for the giggle today------Jerry looks good in pink, doesn't he? ;D ;D ;D

Oh, Janice, how tough for you and Earl!  Prayers will continue for your family..........  I hope there are many around you to minister to you both physically and spiritually during these hard days.  Our love is with you, dear friend.

WELCOME, CORPLHICKS!

Ruth Ann, I pray that nasty strep is conquered in short order!  We are praying for you!

I know it is not mother's day, but I thought this was so cute.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby ... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal," is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct ... somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring .. Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good"...somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices ... somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother ... somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first ... somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books ... somebody never had a
child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery ...somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten ... or on a plane headed for military "boot camp"

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back ... somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married ... somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home ... somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her ... somebody isn't a mother.

Janet

Sonja, that is so good------and so true!

Hello, everyone! My name is Cami, and, although I've been here for alittle bit, this is my first post. I loved the devotional today; we tend to put aside the pain and suffering our Lord bore just for us! I liked reading all your posts; I feel like I know some of you already! I will be back soon!

Janet

Hello, Cami!  Good to see you this morning, and do come and post often!

I wish to pray for EVERYONE today. It seem there are SO many with troubles this day.

Mr Hanna, it warms my heart to see you here today so soon.

Ms Cami I hope you are well today.

Ms Janice I hope you did get some rest, and I will pray again today at the chapel.

I have a question today of the devotional.

This verse has been used by God to bring the assurance of salvation to many people. It answers to the question, "Why the cross?"
I undarstand why so many Christians love the cross. It is symbolic, yes? It is a remind of Jesus and all he has done.
How is it decided when these things are or not a Idols?
Some have a star to remind them of all that is Holy.
Some have a fish to remind them of creation.
Some a Buddha, some a golden cow.
Some kiss the cross and pray to the cross.

If these "idols" are NOT the God, but they are the remind of the God, are they then ok to treasure? When is it wrong?

The fish symbols are not something we worship.  I have one on the back of my van.  What I am saying to people is I believe that God created us.

Bowing down and worshiping anything other then God is wrong.  Even idolizing an actor or actress is wrong.

I just want to say that I do not idolize any of these things you have mentioned.  And I don't believe anyone should.

Sonifo

Mieka
I guess you could say the same for the bible then, Right?
I modified my last message.  Please go back and read.  :D

mieka

Of course I undarstand the Bible is the Word of God, But what about the cross? it is worship by many Christians.

(I have a fish too on my car)  ;D

Sonifo

How is a church supposed to stand out amongs the other buildings?  When you are driving down the road and get frustrated because you are late and things just aren't going your  way, and you see a cross or a fish on the back of someone car.  Do you not stop and think oh ya I am a christain and should act like a christian? I should be patient and kind.  I say a little prayer to God not to the fish or cross.  They are just reminders and not to be worshiped.
