Morning Devotional...

Rise, and stand upon thy feet.       Acts 26:16

Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me.                                  2 Timothy 4:17

The Lord stopped Saul in his tracks and brought his mad career to a standstill. From that moment Paul stood for the Lord.

He stood before the Jews at Antioch; the Greeks on Mars Hill; Felix, Festus, and Agrippa at Caesarea. Lastly, he would take the stand before Caesar in Rome.

How could any man stand against such opposition?

Reflecting on his life, Paul declares, "The Lord stood with me, and strengthened me."

Have you taken your stand for the One who is able to make you stand?

Ephesians 6:13

Author:  George Duffield, 1818-1888
Musician:  Adam Geibel, 1855-1933

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep He suffers, away with shame and fear;
Where'er ye meet with evil, within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles, and put the foe to rout.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the Gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, each soldier to his post,
Close up the broken column, and shout through all the host:
Make good the loss so heavy, in those that still remain,
And prove to all around you that death itself is gain.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil a crown of life shall be;
They with the King of Glory shall reign eternally.

I'm first!   :D

I was outside for a while today and for me that is more than I should have been.  I moved my wood to a more compact pile in a location closer to the house.  I'm about out of wood and will have to order some more before long.  I guess I'm just making room for the new load.   ;)

I pulled a few weeds while I was out there, but then had to get back inside because my face had turned a bright crimson and I was tired.  Seems I get tireder faster these days ... wonder what causes that.  Of course it couldn't be...wouldn't be...wouldn't dare be that "O" word, now would it?   hmmmm

MIEKA~ I really like this new photo of you!   ;)

Etta Sue~ Hi backatcha ... BTW, I'll be going to a family reunion in Muncie Indiana around the middle of July ... how far is that from you?  Jus' wonderin'

I've got other forums awaiting me so .... I'll talk with y'all later.

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm getting ready to leave for Hamilton with my friend, Larry.  So I won't tarry long in here this morning.

I hope you all have a wonderful day though.

Jane, no!  We aren't getting "OLD"!!!

Mieka ~ I love your new photo! You are a beautiful young lady!

Jane ~ You will be in Etta Sue and my front yard when you are in Muncie,IN. I live about 20 mile away and Etta Sue is maybe about the same. How long will you be visiting Muncie for the family reunion? I live east of Pendleton,IN and Etta Sue is 10 mile west of me. I am sure I am speaking for both of us when I say WE could maybe meet someplace.

Howdy to all the rest of you on this beautiful Lords day! Etta Sue and I are going to Ohio to meet with some of my deceased wifes cousins that moved to Arizona. I figure it could be our last time together so why not! I pray for everyone to have a super wonderful stupendous day in the Lord!

Good morning everyone.

Pat, thanks for the morning devotion which reminds us of the strength we get from God to accomplish his will in our lives.  I have often thought that without God's help the way would be too difficult for us.  I like Paul's statement in  Rom 8:31  ". . . If God is for us, who can be against us?"  (NIV)

But to have God's help we need to do our part.  A good Bible reading to help us understand what we can do is Eph 6:10-18 :

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."  (NIV)

Mieka, thanks for your new signature picture.  Ah ha!  I guessed you were a little older than the little girl picture indicated.  I could tell the first picture was of a short little girl.  I am smart that way.   ::)

Pat, I love the picture of you and Jack.

(Edit)  Good morning Jerry.  She IS a beautiful young lady, isn't she.

Hi everyone.  It is another dreary day here in Georgia and we had more rain last night.

I am sitting here at my computer listening to the Billy Graham San Diego Crusade.  It is available in streaming video and will be on the web until the middle of June.  From the link last week I requested their newsletter and when it came today it had the link to this crusade.  They have a wonderful newsletter as well.  If anyone is interested just send me a message and I will forward the e-mail which has all this information in it.  There is some great Christian groups performing, including Michael W. Smith,  and Billy Graham is preaching.

I am not feeling too great so am going to make this short this morning.

As Jerry says, we are going to Ohio today so I didn't take time to reply to each of you... :'(  But I really like the new picture that Mieka has...well, new to us.  How about a new to you photo also, Mieka?  We are never satisfied, are we?

And Jane....WOW!  Muncie is 45 minutes away and that is with traffic.  You let me know where you are and Jerry and I will find you.  Hey, if it is a big outdoor reunion, we could even pretend we are relatives... ;) :D ;D ::)

Gotta go so I can be caught up before leaving for Ohio.

Everyone have a God Blessed Day.

Good Morning: Thank you Pat for the devotional. Is your friend Larry the one who is having the cancer treatments? We must remember to pray for him, perhaps you should post it in Have you Prayed about it?

PapaJohn Thank you for your addition to the devotion. You always add just the right verses and comments to make it complete. I sent you an IM did you get it? ;)
Well 6 more weeks and I am up north. I've inquired about the truck and still have to make arrangements for a tow bar. I know that if we pack the truck right we can get everything in a 10 foot box van. I couldn't belive :o how much is will cost, it was only1/2 that when I moved sown here 9 years ago. with a much bigger truck. INFLATION  :o

How is the new job going Brother Al? I have helped to deliver MOW here, we had 2 hours to get them all delivered. We only had 20 to deliver but out here in the desert they are far apart., from one end of the valley to the other. I have done Volunteering at the Senior Center a lot. from working in the kitchen to delivering the MOW to cleaning the place. :o

Papa John ~ Thank you! It should be a good trip. It isn't any farther than where I was living when I moved here. Troy is the County seat and the place I was born. Well, just outside of town in a streetcar, along the Erie canal, along the old U.S. Route 25. There you now know why I am the way I am!  ::) :P ;D ;) 8)

Good morning, everyone!  We are back from our swim again.  Last night we had the wrap-up for our Walk Kansas program, and my team came in second, with 1036 miles in 8 weeks!  Pretty good, for an all seniors team, don't you think?  Four of the six on my team use swimming as our primary form of exercise.  We get triple miles for swimming, so for my half mile swim, I get to count 1 1/2 mile walking.  They called us the "Aqua Team" and the Rec gave us special prizes.  We each received a yellow bag with a swim cap, swim goggles, water bottle, bottle of sport drink, magnet and a card giving the signs/symptoms of a stroke.  Those caps cost $8.00 and the goggles $12.00, so it was a nice prize.

The goal was to walk the distance it is across Kansas (423 miles) so we made it across, back home again and nearly across again!  ;D  The team in first place got double all the miles they walked if a family member walked with them.  They are all younger, with kids at home, so that is why they had more miles! :-\  It was fun, and good exercise.

I wanted to mention that "Stand Up For Jesus" is one of the hymns I learned as a child, and still love.  I hadn't heard or thought of it in years, but sang it all the way through this morning!  Thanks, Pat.  I tried to do the quote thing, don't know how------but I especially liked the words "where 'ere you meet with evil, within you or without........"  as that realtes to our conversations yesterday.  I wasn't familiar with that verse, and it's so good.

I will post before I ramble on too long.  Mieka, dear---nice photo!  You are a lovely girl.  I would like to just claim you as my own! ;)

Mieka: Good Morning: I like your new photo. By the Way I have lived in California all of my 63 years. I am currently to the east of where you are; in the Mojave desert, San Bernardino county, 30 East of Victorville. I used to live in Stockton in the central valley and work in Sacramento. I have also lived in San Francisco, Modesto and Lodi. I Lived in Nevada for about 6 months one time. So you can see that I already love California. Some places better than others. I will be glad to leave the desert, too hot and too dry, no trees and no grass, no water. I will have all that up north in Mckinleyville.

A belated hello  :) :) :)

Pat ... A big THANK YOU for keeping behind me.  I've been rather slack in getting on the computer lately. I did go to SN one or two days last week.  I haven't been there in months and had a lot of catching up.

My granddaughter has been coming over to my house to use the computer and get on-line.  That is one reason I haven't been able to keep in touch like I want.

Another reason was I was not keeping up with my Bible study and letting this computer take that time I should have been studying. I was feeling rather guilty and deprived of my daily walk with our Lord & Savior.

I am so glad that this is a forgiving, Christian group.

The devotions are so good here..the song today is a good one and I have to go back and sing all the verses.

Have a blessed day to all....

and especially to you, Mieka

Oh WOW!!  I am almost about to get excited about going to this family reunion now!  I really didn't have much enthusiasm built until I read that Jerry and Etta Sue are close enough to pose as relatives!   ;D  I did manage to purchase my plane tickets the other day, though.  I will fly to (and from) Kansas City, MO. and my sister (who lives in Independence) will meet me and another sister (coming in from Knoxville, TN) and we'll then drive to Muncie, IN.  My sis who will be doing the driving wants to take my other sis home afterwards so we can go through Rogersville and poke around in some of the family history in that part of the country.

And, yes, it will be outdoors ... the last one I attended was in 2000, just before I moved out here.  Our cousins plan this every two years (had to delay this one because of illness) and it is/has been mainly their families and additions, but we have been doing research on our dad's  family and now have a published Price Family History!  They are expecting more to attend this time because of increased/renewed interest in our genealogy.

Okay, so now I'll stop about all that and say GOOD MORNING to all who frequent this place.

It is one very beautiful, sunshiny, blue skyed morning here on the west coast.  Flowers are blooming all over the place and the birds are singing greetings from every tree and bush.  God is good ... all the time!

PAT!  I was very careful NOT to say that word!!  Aaaggghhh :o

I have other forums to visit so perhaps I'd better get to gettin' ... See y'all later

BTW - I thought that was really cute about Janet swimming across Kansas (twice) but MIEKA said it first!  hahaha  :P

Well, I'm home from Hamilton.  It was a lovely ride down and then coming home, it was bucketing with rain!

I had to really run to get into my house from their house two doors away.

He got kind of good news though.  His cancer hasn't spread to his liver or spine as earlier thought and so they will be giving him the full treatment of radiation which is 30 times down there.  We go every day Mon. to Fri.

I hope that Etta Sue and Jerry have a good day in Ohio.  Did I miss something somewhere as to when they are coming home?  Or is it one day?

And I hope you have a nice time too, Jane when you come east!

Hello to the rest of you.  I won't name everyone.  I did think that Mieka's comment about Janet swimming across Kansas was so cute.  I giggled when I read that!!

Cornelia and I went out to get a few things at the grocery and then to the drug store and then to the Dollar Tree.

She has gone to teach her Tuesday Bible class and I am trying to catch up on a few little tasks here.

It is good to see everyone today.  Looks like we may have rain again today.  We have had over 10 inches so far in May much more than usual.

Matt 5:43-45  "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'  But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  (NIV)

Mieka,  where are you going on vacation?  How long will you be away?  Will you have access to a computer?  Now I am asking the questions.    ???

Hi Papa John,

:o You have a dollar tree?  :o

I will be leaving on Friday for the new Orleans and then on the boat to the Montego bay. There are many places we will visit but I can not think all the names. Now there is more troubles from a terrorists, I hope it will not change my trip or make it hard for me to come back home.
There is a computer on the boat I can use sometimes, but when it is far at sea it is hard to get a internet at all. I will hope to say a hi if I can. I hope to have many pictures to share. It is the most long time for me away from home ever, but I will be with my family.  ;D

A group of students were asked to list what they thought
were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there
were some disagreements, the following received the most
votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one
quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet, so she
asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make
up my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and
maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven
Wonders of the World' are:

1. to see
2. to hear
3. to touch
4. to taste
5. to feel
6. to laugh
7. and to love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin
drop. The things we overlook as simple, ordinary
take for granted are truly wondrous!

A gentle reminder - that the most precious things
in life cannot be built by hand or bought by man.

Janet, that is a very interesting contribution you have just made.  I have visited all the first list except the Panama Canal.  But that second list  ----  I have all seven of them and they are the real gifts we have.  They are the real wonders of the world and the seventh one is the greatest wonder of all.

 ???  Where can I practice this?

Mieka:  Red is your color - you look terrific in red.  What a testimony you have!

I noticed that the New Media Player is easier to use.

I am doing a lot of volunteer work for a women's scholarship program again this year - my energy is ebbing.  We have a huge book sale over the weekend - three days beginning in a week and a half.  Thousands of books.  The group is both Christian and those who are agnostics - I wouldn't even know if anyone is atheist.  It is a strange mixture in a way.

Marilyn:  Wishing your days to pass quickly now that you are almost on the road.  Where are your sweet doggies going to be when you travel?  We had to give our golden retriever motion sickness pills and she was wiped out on a move from Texas to Colorado - in an open-air jeep.  Come to think of it - I was too!  We did a one day move to save money - I hope that your drive isn't too long.

Larry:  You are in my prayers that you will feel better very soon.

Welcome Chrismar

Another drizzly day here!  Mieka - like your new photo!

Good News:  I just learned that I placed 2nd in the 1/2 mile walk during the Gwinnett Senior Golden Olympics.  Was happy about that as I've never done the walk before.  We're leaving for Virginia Beach and the National Senior Olympics this weekend. 8)

Papa John - that's a great picture of you and Cornelia and I like your fish at the end of your page. :)

Welcome to CHRISMAR ... I'm a little late, but still sincere.    ;)

JOAN!  That is a great picture of YOU, too.  Good to see you again! Congratulations on your 2nd place win in the Senior Golden Olympics.    ;D

We have a new section in our Photography Area.

Please go and see the new photo in there.  It's by our latest member!

Chrismar sent it to me in an email and it's certainly lovely.

This area will be reserved just for photographs that have a scripture on them.

AMAZING GRACE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/amazinggrace.mid)
(Click title to hear music)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

Jane ~ We are definitely looking forward to meeting you! It will be great! If you would like my phone number, I would be glad to e-mail it to you! It is an unlisted-unposted number so that is the only way you can get it!

I am home and I am not sure when Etta Sue will join us, but she should be home by now!

Welcome Chrismar!!!!
