It was good to be able to welcome Chris and Margit a few days ago and we've been enjoying Chris' photography with scripture.

And Pam Bice, the daughter-in-law of our Ruth Ann Bice has become a member on Thursday evening.  Please help them to feel welcome here.

Morning Devotional...

Let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Hebrews 12:28

An increasing number of evangelicals have a problem with the concept of godly fear, but Scripture teaches it as a necessary ingredient to service.

The absence of this fear produces unacceptable and irreverent service, that may please the flesh, but not God.

People want to be "contemporary," but God wants us to be holy, reverent, and godly.

A true knowledge of the Lord in His holiness, justice and wisdom will affect the way we serve.

It will help us to consult Him and be driven by the desire to please Him according to His criteria, not ours.
                                                                                      --Carl Knott

We fear because Thou art so good,
and because we can sin;
And when we make most show of love,
we are trembling most within.

Hi Pat, I will post.

I took Zachery to the doctor yesturday and found out he has arthritis.  I guess it runs with crohns disease.  Zachery calls it a value pack.  hehehe...I had to laugh at that one.  He seems to be taking it all very well.  He was talking to us at dinner and said he didn't mind the special diet or the arthritis and that he can handle it.  He has gone through so much and still has a good attitude.  He is so precious.

We are going to the carnival when Mike gets off work.  Thought it would be a good way to spend our anniversary.  Can't wait.  Chandraya is so thrilled.  It is fun to watch her talk about the rides.

I better get off here.  It is 12:00 am here and I need to get to bed sometime.

Pat S:  Thanks for the message once more.  Sorry to hear that you have to wait until September - We stopped our dental insurance a year or so ago as it was just too expensive.  I know that the schools do a great job though so it will be worth it when you finally finish.  Can you spell Mississippi?  We always had the kids spell that when the were losing a tooth.

Larry:  I know that it is difficult for you to give up your volunteer jobs for even  a little while - taking care of yourself is foremost.

Welcome Pambice!!!!!!!!

Sonja:  Zachery is an inspiration.  He certainly has a healthy outlook on life.

We stopped everything yesterday and took off to the foothills (Estes Park) for 4 hours.  It was a perfect day and so nice to get away.  Don ordered a veggie burger that I am trying to learn how to duplicate - it had a bean base and mushrooms, squash - if only I could  learn the right spices.  It was so good.

Baptism:  My mother was baptised Lutheran and my father, Baptist. I was baptised as an infant - later for many years, we attended a different denomination and always more than tithed, etc. and I was very active in the teen group. We had the single pastor to dinner every Sunday.   A new pastor arrived and we were suddenly shunned as a family because we were not members.  I cannot begin to tell you how this affected me at the age of 16 and tears still come when I remember losing my base of friends and my entire social life because my parents only allowed me to go to church functions.  So, when I see baptism discussed, I am not a person to judge anyone on their beliefs.

Our church allows anyone who is baptised to come forward for communion.

This is too long of a post - see you later, Carol

Good Morning to you All!

I have several errands to do today and I'm going out this evening and I have a wedding to attend tomorrow so busy, busy!  I must make this a short post today.

We're going to miss our Mieka!  I do hope that she has a wonderful time away on that boat and will hurry back to us.

Good Morning, Carol.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.  I'm so sorry you had to go through that in your church back then.  Personally, I do feel that baptism by immersion is so important as it's quite plainly laid out in the scripture in the New Testament.

I do hope that you have a great day today, Carol.  Sounds like you had a nice one yesterday!  How about some photos?  M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i!!!  HAHAHA!  That's a good one!  I must remember that.  Yep!  No front teeth missing for which I'm very thankful.    I have a new student now.  He's from Syria and such a lovely young man.  His wife and he have been working in Boston for four years and now wish to make Canada their home so they must go through two years at a Canadian university to qualify and that's what he is doing at the present.  His wife did it first and is now working to help him with the costs.

Hi Jen  Yes, my jaw is much better after a good night's sleep and several tylenol!  I'm glad your ankle is feeling better.  I think we're overdue for a coffee together, don't you?

Hi Paulette...  Have a wonderful time at the Bible Study!  Share with us if you wish what you learn today.

Well, dear Sonja...  I'm sorry about the news of Zachery and his having arthritis.  Has this definitely been diagnosed?  I remember the five years that we went through with our eldest, Ian, back when he was 10 years old and he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis of the heart!  He's fine now though.

I must get off here and get some jobs done!  I have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Hi to each and everyone.  Finally we have a morning with no rain.  Interestingly enough with all the rain we have had and our lake overflowing, we will still go on water restrictions on June 1st.  This is State-wide and I don't object to it as feel we need to conserve this valuable resource from God.

Pat, glad to hear that you are feeling better this morning.  Years ago I went to a dental college in Kansas City and had a lot of work done.  It wasn't very far from where I worked and I had plenty of leave to use but I sure got tired of the long appointments and the many trips.  However, I really appreciated the very modest cost involved and the work was excellent.

Mieka, what a cute postings with all the little graphics.  You have more patience than I do and I hope we will see more of your creative messages from time to time.  Have a great time with your family on your vacation.

Sonja, sorry to hear tha Zachery has arthritis.  At least knowing what the problem is helps and hopefully there are things that will help him with the pain.  He is so young to have these afflictions but it sounds like he is taking things in stride and has a lot of support from his family.

Carol, I can relate a bit to the shunning you experienced, not that I experienced it but in the same church that wouldn't recognize my baptism, they also practiced closed communion and when my Mother came to visit they refused to allow her to take communion.  She is the one who led me to Christ and I guess I will never forget this experience.

Welcome Pambice.  Your Mother-in-law is precious to us here and we look forward to your participation.   Thanks for joining us.

Jen, glad you foot is better.  It seems that it often takes awhile for a sprain to heal.

Pat, another fine devotional this morning.  What freedom we have through Christ and what joy to be of service for him.

I just got back from our Friday morning men's coffee at the local Senior Center.  There were nine of us this morning and the conversation was very relaxed and we stayed well over an hour.  I hope to get out today and get a haircut before I started being mistaken for a shaggy dog. ;D  I am feeling better today than yesterday although I have no energy.  I also had good news yesterday from my cardiogist's nurse.  She called and said they had been able to get my consultation with the EECP clinic moved up to June 11 from the 26th.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning Larry!  No rain up here either but it's very chilly for this time of year.  I hope it warms up soon.  Larry, we had a really good class at our Senior Centre yesterday.  They have a nice lab in there and there are some really interested people learning.

Interesting posts today (again!)

Sonja, give that wonderful little Zachery a warm hug from me.  What a great kid!  We could all take some lessons from him on how to handle adversities!

WELCOME, PAM BICE!!!

Carol, I'm so sorry about that bad church experience you had back then.  If people had any idea how much they are hurting others with their narrow opinions, would they think it through more carefully?  We can hope they would.

I didn't go swim today because they are trying to figure out how to fix that leak, and have everything turned off, and the water is cooling rapidly.  Also, my ear is acting up a little, so I just skipped it today.

Abby is still here, I guess I probably should call her Mom and ask how long I get to keep her!  She says she packed for three days, and today is the third day, so I'd best be calling to find out when they need her home!  I know she has an end of school thing soon, but don't remember what day for sure.

It's good to see Tenderheart and Mercychild again this morning! :D  WE miss any of our friends who do not post, don't we?  So I hope everyone checks in today!

Another great devotional this morning Pat. And thank you for the links. I don't always look at them but it is nice to know that they are there to check out later.

I love all your graphics Mieka, what patience you must have to find them all and post them all. They are so cute. You said something about Jeanne's birthday, Do you know something that we don't know? I looked at the calendar and there is nothing there about Jeanne's birthday.

Larry, I am glad to hear that y ou are getting out with your senior friends for coffee. :) Sorry to hear that youhave to give up your volunteer work and the Choir. I don't know that I could give up Choir. That is such an integral part of my worship to the Lord. I love singing to Him.

Pat you sure have been very busy lately. Running hither and thither just about everyday.

Carol I am sorry to hear about your bad experience in your church as a young person.  Wow, that would turn off a lot of people to church for life. Praise God that didn't happen to you.

Jen good to see you posting again, your posts are always so God-filled and wonderful. You have a great family, Paullette is a great mom.

Sonja: Zachery seems to be taking all these problems in stride. What a Guy!!

Well I am off the read the other forums here and then get ready for work, TTYL
Marilyn

Hi Janet, we were posting at the smae time. Aren't g-kids great. I can't wait to be next door to mine, what a privelege to have them right there where we can visit anytime.

Sometimes I don't post because our keystrokes at work are reviewed. I can read a bit (my goodness the system here at work is SO much faster than my 56k modem at home), but don't often post from here.

Thanks for your kind welcomes to Pam. You'll find her to be loving, kind, deeply devoted to her family, and a dedicated Christian. What more can a mother in law ask? (Oh, yes, and we're friends, too!)  :)

Hi Pat!!  Great devotional today.  We all need the godly fear.  Sounds like you are going to have a good busy, busy, busy!

Marilyn ~ Great that you can use your own computer for your photos.  Now you can take lots of pictures and post them.  That will really make the time fly before you make your big move north.

Karma ~ Now you quit teasing Pat.  It isn't Pat's fault she gets to read other people mail.... ;)  ;D :D ;D ;)

Sonja ~ Zachary got the Combo Deal!  He has a super attitude about his illnesses.  Great boy!  Give him a hug for me.  {{{hug}}}

Mieka ~ I love your little smileys.  Now did you write your text around your little smileys or did you write your text and then put in the smiley?  ??? ??? ???  Mieka....Chinese for 'little fish'.  Did you know that in Hawaii the word for 'little fish' is humuhumunukunukuapua`a.  Glad you are Chinese instead of Hawaiian!!    ;)  BTW, have a great vacation with your family!!!  :) :D

Carol ~ Good morning....I would love to find a book about the differences in religions/denominations.  In fact, I am going to the Christian Book Store today to see if they have one.  We all believe in Christ but we all have our minor differences, also.  Sounds like some denominations have major differences that do not accept other denominations minor differences.  God knows you and THAT is what counts.

Larry ~ This shunning and refusing to allow someone to take communion mind-boggles me.   :o :o What did they say? "Nope, you can't take communion.  You don't belong to this denominational church."   ??? ??? How humiliating!  That would certainly turn off someone that is new at attending church even just observing that.  We have communion every Sunday.  Sometime during the communal offertory, it is stated that 'believers of Christ may take of the bread but we ask you to wait and take of the cup together.'  But no one 'police's' the congregation.  That is between you, God, his Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jerry is here today and we are going out to eat and do some shopping.....then do our favorite work.....MOWING!!!  (Hey, Mieka....do you have a smiley with a lawn mower???)

PAMBICE

We visit every day.  We talk about our children, grandchildren, local politics, aches and pains, sorrows, triumphs.  We discuss the Sunday sermon, our reading of scripture, a new book that touched or troubled us.  We post photographs.  We sing.  We laugh a lot.  Sometimes we cry.  We make an effort to listen intently.

Our visits to CP is our holy time.  As we read each others posts and look at each others pictures, we posts our thoughts, hopes, and fears to each other and to God.  Our posts are a manifestation of Christ in the world.  Being part of the Body of Christ is not a private walk with Jesus; it is two or three people gathered together with Christ in their midst.  When we show compassion or 'listen' with love, we are expressing Christ.  We are being the church in the world.  Even though we aren't perfect and we don't have all the right answers, we experience Christs's presence in these times together.

Who needs someone to listen???!!!

Good Morning EVERYONE!

Yup, PAT  I often "lurk" here because I enjoy y'alls conversation/discussions but don't feel I have anything constructive, or interesting, to contribute.  There have been a few nights when I've been here mostly by myself and then MIEKA would show up ... we're both on Pacific Time y'know ... and we would have a big confab on IM!  It was fun the other night when she was deciding which photo to put up with her bio.   ;)  Again, last night, we had a lengthy exchange of Instant Messages.  She is a lot of fun and very talented, too.

I will stop here and say a big
WELCOME PAMBICE
though, cuz I think it's great that she's Ruth Ann's daughter in law!  That's something I'll never have ... I never had a son!   ;)

And ... MARILYN .. Pat and Jeanne Lee have birthdays next month   :P  Mieka will be gone "at least 3 weeks and maybe more"  She says her father is good at pulling surprises and might keep them away longer.   :D

Well, I gotta go ... I haven't had my time of Bible reading yet.   :-[

See y'all later ......

Yes, IM'ing with Mieka is so special.  I've kept all of mine.

Words and Music by John W. Peterson

Psalm 50:10
"For every beast of the forest is mine,
and the cattle upon a thousand hills."

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills,
The wealth in every mine;
He owns the rivers and the rocks and rills,
The sun and stars that shine.
Wonderful riches, more than tongue can tell -
He is my Father so they're mine as well;
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills -
I know that He will care for me.

Welcome Pam

I sure hope that you will post more often than me as I seem to be slow in this department as well.

Yesterday I painted one side of a privacy fence so now I need to do the otherside, that will be when the rainy weather goes and the sun is with us for a day or two and besides my muscles are doing a good job of saying ouch.

This morning we had a little rain and more is on its way.

Mieka you will be missed I sure love your posts.

My heart goes out to Zachery being so young and not well.

Pat: Thanks for posting the devotional.

Blessings      Ruth

Sonja, I am so glad Zachary seems to have a very good attitude about his problem.  I am including him in my prayers.

Mieka, I loved your post with all the active little smileys.  I hope you have a wonderful trip.  We will be looking forward to your return.

Welcome to Pambice.  We hope you will show up here on New Every Morning.

Carol, sorry to hear of your "shunning experience."  Love and kindness seems to me a better way of helping people get closer to the Lord.  I have always thought that we should not judge others to keep anyone from communion.

Larry, it is good to see you here every day.  I'm glad your consultation has been moved up for you.  You remind me that I need a haircut.  Cornelia has been cutting my hair for over twenty years.  Think of all the money I have saved.

Etta Sue, "humuhumunukunukuapua?" I didn't know you were a linguist.  Wow!
We take communion every Sunday too.  I have never heard of anyone being denied the privilege.

Ruth, our deck needs painting.  Maybe you could drop by and give us a hand.  Actually every year Cornelia and I put a new coat of gray stain on the deck but this year we just don't feel like we can do it.  We have a handy man who does work for us and as soon as it dries out enough he is going to come and paint it.

Good to see you, Paulette and Cami.  It is nice to see you even if you just drop in to say, "Hi" as Pat tells us.

Pat I always enjoy the devotionals.  Bro. Carl Knott said, "People want to be "contemporary," but God wants us to be holy, reverent, and godly." I have found a lot of holiness, reverence, and godliness among contemporary congregations.  I'm sure he didn't mean to say that only the more traditional style of worship is holy, reverent, and godly.

We had that appointment with the specialist today.  He said the MRI shows that my biggest problem is a lot of arthritis in the spine.  He increased my pain medicine, prescribed a new pain patch, and scheduled an epidural steroid injection which will be week after next.

Sorry for the long post.  Good to see you all here today.  God bless you all.

What?  No Mieka for three weeks or more!!!!   :'( :'( :'(

Jane ~ Just stop in and say 'Hi!'  It really doesn't hurt.  But then how would I know.  I can't stop with just 'Hi'.

Papa John ~ I am glad that surgery isn't necessary for your back problems.  Hopefully they can get the pain regulated so it won't be so bad for you.  You and Zachary can help each other.... ;D

Marilyn ~ I am off to the prayer section to read your request!  And yes, isn't it nice to have each other here?

Jerry and I had a Chinese buffet for lunch.  I ordered a book at the Christian Book Store.  Then ordered a battery for a watch and got me a new Catch-A-Call for my pc.  My old one hasn't rang for about two weeks now but this one is working.  Had my sister call to test it out!  Then I spent way too much at the grocery store.  We got the groceries in the house and Jerry put salt in my water softener and then it was outside to mow.  Got that done for another 4-5 days.  Whew!  Now it is time to rest.  It is cold, too.  Only 66°F.  If we could have some of Marilyn's hot and she could have some of our cold, we would both be happy!  ;D ;D ;D

Just rushing around here...  Got my Avon packed and now have to deliver it.  I have a wedding tomorrow so it won't be tomorrow.

Must rush as I'm leaving for Andrew and Terena's house in a little while.

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

The Power of Holding Hands
By Rabbi Harold Kushner
I was sitting on a beach one summer day, watching two children, a boy and a girl, playing in the sand. They were hard at work building an elaborate sandcastle by the water's edge, with gates and towers and moats and internal passages. Just when they had nearly finished their project, a big wave came along and knocked it down, reducing it to a heap of wet sand. I expected the children to burst into tears, devastated by what had happened to all their hard work. But they surprised me. Instead, they ran up the shore away from the water, laughing and holding hands, and sat down to build another castle. I realized that they had taught me an important lesson. All the things in our lives, all the complicated structures we spend so much time and energy creating, are built on sand. Only our relationships to other people endure. Sooner or later, the wave will come along and knock down what we have worked so hard to build up. When that happens, only the person who has somebody's hand to hold will be able to laugh.

*********************************************
Marilyn, I am holding your hand tonight!

TODAY'S PROVERB . . .

They are not dead who live in the hearts they leave behind.

And Then There's...
The only truly dead are those who have been forgotten.
