Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Mr John?
I like this answer and I think I undarstand most of it. But not this part, it is a puzzle.

and there was no longer any sea.

It is my thought that God is over all the land and I am told that the devil has power on the waters ???

The ocean is my home, I have always live by the sea.
Does God not like the sea?

Janet

Mieka, next time you are where Christian books are sold, look for, or ask for Heaven, My Father's House by Anne Graham Lotz.  It should be a small book, but it has great information regarding heaven.

I want to know more about heaven, too! ;) :)

Mieka, that part is a puzzle to me, as well.  Since I love scuba diving so much, I want there to be oceans still when we go to heaven.  But this one thing I know:  Whatever we need to be happy and joyful--that will be in heaven!  So if there aren't any more oceans, there will be other things just as wonderful........  I don't believe the devil has power over the sea, because God is much more powerful, and He is in control.  Any time we call to Him, He hears and answers us.

Hey there, y'all ... I have been quietly observing for the past few daze and decided maybe I'd better let y'all know I've been "eavesdropping" too   ::)  :-[

I will be going to Bible Study this evening and that is always enjoyable for me.  I was asked to write the Proposed Bylaws for our church, and I've just completed the corrected version.  They will be ready for our annual business meeting on the 18th when they will be (hopefully) ratified and adopted by the membership.  This has kept me a mite busy, for one thing.   ::)

Pat, the times I hit reply to the email notifications of IM here was when they were from you so that's okay, isn't it?   ;)

I love it here and I have voted every day ... Y'all are the greatest, fer shur.

I'll be back later ...

LISTENING WITH YOUR ANSWER RUNNING

There is a story out of Edinburgh, Scotland, about a woman who was
resolutely opposed to street-corner evangelism. One Sunday evening she
was waiting for a streetcar at the Mound, a location used by various
orators and, on that day, by a well-known evangelist.

The meeting had just finished when, to her horror, she saw the
evangelist heading straight for her. She gathered her strength and had
her answer ready. So when the poor man politely said, "Excuse me,
Madam, but does the number six car go to Marchmont?" she snapped back,
"That's a matter between me and my God!"

She answered a question that was never asked. She had not heard the
man because she was "listening with her answer running."

A sure way for wives and husbands, parents and children, employers
and employees, people of all acquaintances to misunderstand one
another is to listen with their answers running.

Today, give your whole attention to others and discover what a
difference it makes!

Etta Sue

Oh, what a happy day!  The driver got Ivalou and I over 2 hours before her appointment.  But when we got there, they took her right in.  She got her eye patch out.  Was sent home with eye drops, a patch she is to wear while sleeping and sunglasses when she is outside.  We got home and was hungry.   ::) So I got my car and we went to Noblesville.  We ate and then went to K-Mart.  Ivalou needed a small birthday gift for a lady at church and a Mother's day gift for her Secret Sister AND cards for each.  Now Ivalou WAS one that couldn't read her digital clock that has 2" high LCD numbers without her glasses.  She was reading greeting cards today!!!  No glasses and only one eye 'fixed'.  What a miracle this surgery is for people.  And the doctor said each day her vision would improve.  She is under no restrictions except she is to put these drops in 3 times a day AND DO NOT RUB HER EYE.  She asked him about mowing the yard.  Yes!  So she mowed her yard this afternoon.

Praise God!

Also Jerry called and all of his belongings are in Indiana now and the key to his storage has been returned.  They charge by the month and he had already paid for this month but he got his deposit back plus 3 weeks of this month.  So he is one happy camper!!

Praise God!

Ali is crying.  She want a drink from the faucet!!!

Hi, Larry Hanna & Papa John, my longtime friends!  Hello also to all my new friends here.  Janet, I'm so happy for your grandson, Aaron and know you're proud of him. :)

I was corrected on the 1/2 mile walk times by a friend who was there.  He said I was only 15 seconds behind the lowest time yet.  Made me feel a bit better even though this old body was experiencing sore muscles. :D

We had "gray alert" until 9pm at the hospital this afternoon and I drove through lots of rain on the way home.  Saw one pick up truck that had hydroplaned and was off the road. :o

About my remark that I believe God gives us choice.  Now some folks might immediately think "abortion", but I'm very much against abortion.   I believe the choice is whether or not we will serve the Lord.

"A good name is better than fine perfume"  Ecc. 7:1

Janet

Joan, I understood that was the choice you meant! ;D

Are you Joan Scales, the Southerner?? ;)
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Ruth Ann Bice

I think she is Joan Scales.

If so, yep - you have another Southerner to live with!!!

Hi, Joan.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Papa John

Joan, I knew you were opposed to abortion as I'm sure we all are here.  I can't see any difference in abortion and murder.

Mieka, about there being no more sea, I think we must remember that WE will be different in heaven.   Things which delight us here probably would not delight us there.  In any case I promise you that none of us will be disappointed in heaven.

Well, we are ready to go to Bible study tonight.

--- Papa John    ;D

Hey!!  I know JOAN SCALES too!   :o  In fact, I had a most wonderful dinner (supper) at her house one evening a couple years ago...prelude to the Atlanta Bash for SN.  Of course, Joan probably only knows me as "Jaywalker" but that's okay, too!   ;) :D

ETTA SUE~ Indeed you have had a wonderful day ... you and Ivalou both!  Jerry, too, since he got all his belongings in one place now and a refund as well.   :D

Howdy Y'all ~ Well as Etta Sue said I am now officially completely moved (after a year) to Indiana and I am rid of a storage unit I have had for three years. When my wife died I had to move by the end of March. I was sick and had to go to the hospital and got out two days before I was to be moved so my son and son-in-law moved me. What a mess. Things they should have moved they left and things that could have been left they moved. I had two of these units because they didn't know how to pack stuff in them! I got rid of one of them as quick as I could get help moving it all to this one I got rid of today! I now have everything I own in one place for probably the first time in my life! I have always been a horse trader and have had stuff stored every where. The first year my wife and I were married I owned 32 automobiles and had them scattered any place I could keep them. I now have one lonely automobile. (VBG) Etta Sue said I turned the key in, but it was a lock and I had bought it from the storage place so I have it in my car and will lock a tool box with it!

I'm baaaaaaacccccccccckkkkkkkkkk!

Now before I go to the other forums, I wish to post my Daily Encounter for all to read. I think it fits maybe some of the discussion of the day! The Host for Dick Innes had some major problems and has now gotten everything straightened out so I am getting them again! So here it is!

MOONLIGHT SONATA

"Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night?" (Job
35:10, NIV).

Ludwig von Beethoven, one of the world's greatest
musicians, was born into a musical family in Germany. As a
child he spent many lonely hours practicing his music every
day.

By the age of eleven he was already composing his own music
and conducting an orchestra. In his late teens he went to
Vienna for further study. There he reached fame, though not
fortune.

One evening as he was out walking he passed a cobbler's
house where he heard someone inside practicing one of his
compositions. As he stopped to listen he overheard a girl
say that she wished she could hear a real musician play it
properly.

Beethoven went into the house and, noticing the young lady
at the piano was blind, offered to play the piece for her.
He did so for her for more than an hour, and while he did,
darkness fell and the lone candle in the room had gone out.

Outside in the night sky the moon shone brightly and sent
its radiant beams glistening into the room where Beethoven
sat playing beautiful music. He was so inspired by the
appreciation of his music by the young lady and the beauty
of the atmosphere in the room that he composed his famous
"Moonlight Sonata."

Do you ever feel that your dreams have been shattered and
you feel all alone in the darkness of despair. I certainly
have. However, when our life is truly committed to Christ,
it's in these "dark nights of the soul" when God is working
in us to give us more understanding of life and compassion
for others--and in time will bring back the music into our
life.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, in my 'dark nights of the
soul'--even though I feel that you are far away--help me to
see with my heart and know that you are at my side, and
that you will never leave me or forsake me. And help me to
'see' that you are using my circumstances to help me become
a better, healthier, and more whole person. Thank you for
hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus'
name, amen."
