Oldiesmann: Update on the car situation... Initial estimate was that the car was repairable. However, after further inspection at a body shop, the insurance company determined that the cost of repairs is about $1200 more than the car is worth Oct 16 2019 10:28pm

Oldiesmann: For those who didn't see the message on seniorsandfriends, I was involved in an accident this morning. I'm fine and my car should be repairable, but I've had the car less than 48 hours and am not looking forward to the costs Sep 30 2019 12:33pm

Carol: Praise:  I have no cancer after undergoing a skin throat surgery  today!  Everyone was surprised - - prayers answered.   So very blessed. Aug 13 2019 5:25pm

Carol: Today is another drive to the VA.  We have found a little part that is not on the fast and furious freeway.  Whoever thinks that growth in a city is a good thing is wrong.  Two grands came for an overnight and their visits mean so much to us.  /b] Aug 07 2019 10:46am

Morning Devotional...

From Chris Saunders

" Who has delivered us from the Powers of Darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of His Dear Son."
Coll 1

Delivered from...rescued from... set free..changed.. transformed.
Satan no longer has any hold over the believer..we are freemen and women with Christ as our Saviour, Leader, Redeemer and coming King.
Satan cannot touch a hair on our head our great Protector watches over us day and night.
If you stray back into the world which is Satan's world then you are foolish indeed.. sometimes God will let you have your own way to show you how much you need Him.
And you will be very glad that He never lets go of you, many of us in the past have been curious about something and got involved in things that we shouldn't ..with people that we shouldn't and Glory be to God when we realised how far we had strayed and cried out ..our generous, gracious Lord was there to the rescue.
Don't test God ok?

Janet

Praise God, Who sent His own Son to set us free, deliver us out of the kingdom of darkness and translate us into the Kingdom of Light!  How very blessed we are!

After having read several books about heaven, I am now reading "A divine Revelation of Hell" by Mary K Baxter.  No, do not test God, Stay close to Jesus and live for Him. Our time is rapidly running out!

We have had terrible winds here since yesterday; I can barely stand against the wind.  Sure hope it calms tonight.

We discovered our car needs a brake job, so going to take it to the dealership tomorrow for that.  Otherwise, not much new going on here!

MASTER, THE TEMPEST IS RAGING
(Click to hear music)

Master, the tempest is raging!
The billows are tossing high!
The sky is o'ershadowed with blackness,
No shelter or help is nigh;
Carest Thou not that we perish?
How canst Thou lie asleep,
When each moment so madly is threatening
A grave in the angry deep?

Refrain
The winds and the waves obey Thy will,
Peace, be still!
Whether the wrath of the storm tossed sea,
Or demons or men, or whatever it be
No waters can swallow the ship where lies
The Master of ocean, and earth, and skies;
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, be still! Peace, be still!
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, peace, be still!

Master, with anguish of spirit
I bow in my grief today;
The depths of my sad heart are troubled
Oh, waken and save, I pray!
Torrents of sin and of anguish
Sweep o'er my sinking soul;
And I perish! I perish! dear Master
Oh, hasten, and take control.

Refrain

Master, the terror is over,
The elements sweetly rest;
Earth's sun in the calm lake is mirrored,
And heaven's within my breast;
Linger, O blessed Redeemer!
Leave me alone no more;
And with joy I shall make the blest harbor,
And rest on the blissful shore.

Refrain

Janet I moved your post with mine.

The trees are turning colour here now, orange with a dash of red and oak rust.  Soon everything will be yellow as the aspens turn.  I expect by our Thanksgiving, the colour will be done, and all will be looking dead in preparation for winter.
I love the colours of autumn, just not the impending cold.

John is doing well since his knee replacement. There has been no infection and he is moving well considering it has been only 3 weeks.

Have a great day everyone. Enjoy the weather, get outside if you can and take time to "smell the roses"!

Carol

Oldiesmann: Sorry for the auto accident - it is good news that you are alright.

Chris Saunders:  Thank you for your devotions.

Judy B:  Wonderful news that John is healing.

Neighbors are visiting this afternoon - I have planned snacks.  Don is in pain once again from Spinal Stenosis.  The shot cannot be given for three months as he just had it - It worked for just a few days.  One doctor says to not walk at all and another says walk all you are able.  ?

Good morning today is the day I work in the hospice office for a couple of hours. I have to take one of the kitties to the vet after work because she has been limping for 2 days. I couldn't catch her yesterday, as son as she saw the crate she hid.

My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 1.

Greetings Everyone  I have not been able to get online for a few says now, not sure when I will return; hopefully soon

Janet

Oldiesman, so sorry about your new car!
 (Was it brand new, or new to you?) Either way, not a good deal.
 Hope you have it all sorted out now, and the cost was much less than you feared.  We do appreciate you so much!  Thank you again for providing this place for us.  I would love to go to Srs and Friends, but have no idea what I used long ago as user name and password.  :'(

Marilyn, hope you are doing better.

John and Judy, hope all is well with you up there in the cold North country!  It's really feeling like Fall here.  We are still in drought conditions and praying for rain.

Carol, I hope you and Don are doing better, too.

No news here, just wanted to check in and let you all know I'm thinking of you!

It is a wonderful sunny and cool day here.   Youngest son and wife are bringing dinner here later.

 I am packing one carry-on luggage for a flight tomorrow - a 5 day (I hope 5 days) stay in Montana.  Another son needs someone with him for surgery and several days of recovery.  Hoping for very little snow - I have to drive a macho truck. My mother would say "it will be alright".

Janet:  Thank you - we are doing as well as can be and so grateful.  Truly hope you have more moisture from rain or even snow.  Don has to go to the VA by himself on Monday - I leave tomorrow.

Did everyone get their flu shot this year?  We never catch the flu and always go in September.  Glad to get it done before stepping on a plane.

Judy:  Thank you for your music - always nice to hear the songs.

Oldiesmann:  I do hope you can get your car fixed perfectly and it isn't too costly.

Rebot:  I will look forward to your messages -

Janet

Carol, it's so good that you can go be with your son for a few days.  Will pray for Don's safety while you are away.  And I agree with your mother, "it will be all right!" I know you can drive that macho truck!  :D

I had a terrible night last night and not much better day today.  I have no idea why, just feel awful, and having to go to bathroom every few minutes, then I get chills and feel like I'm about to pass out.   Ugh.  They are having Fall Fest downtown, and I don't even care!  I'm still in my pajamas!  "Not worth shootin'" as my Dad used to say.  Hope I feel like myself again tomorrow!

They had been predicting rain for a few days for this corner of Kansas.  I told Darrel this morning that it should rain tonight.  He asked why and I said, "Because I gave up and gave my flowers a good watering!"

Wishing you all a very pleasant evening a a night of good, restful sleep!

Greetings Everyone My time is taken up at home presently.  Thinking of you all. Ell

Carol

Good Sunday morning (here)  I am ready to get to the airport - no church this morning. I have a very small devotional packed in my little overhead very small luggage.- one change of clothes for the 5 days (washer and dryer will do the job).  I always travel light as can be - and can go right to the gate with everything set up before take-off. It is sunny and clear so the view when we pass along the mountain peaks will be wonderful - stunning creation!

Don wanted to drive but it would take two days and winter weather is already upon some of the route.

Take care all.

Marilyn

Hope you had a safe trip Carol.

Janet I pray you are feeling better today.

Yesterday my feet hurt so bad I didn't go to church. I  could barely stand let alone walk. I have a friend  bringing a  wheelchair this week. I will get dome practice in on how to go about doing my morning routine with the animals and getting around the house. I will be able to see what has to be moved for me to get around.

John is doing really well with his knee, they are about to discharge him from physio.  He figures he will be back to driving bus later this month.

Our weather is wonderful still. we have had rain, wind and frost at night. No snow, that is the west, we are still ok.  Today the sky is shining, no coats, trees are turning to brilliant reds oranges and rusts. the aspens are still somewhat green however some are golden. I love the fall colours, however I don't like the weather that comes next. Winter is the least favourite season.

I have gone off facebook for a while, will be back eventually.

Have a great day folks!

A Shelter In the Time of Storm
(Click to hear music)

You have been a shelter from the storm.
Isaiah 25:4

Words: Vernon J. Charlesworth, circa 1880.

Music: Ira D. Sankey, circa 1885

The Lord's our Rock, in Him we hide,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Secure whatever ill betide,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land;
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
No fears alarm, no foes afright,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

The raging storms may round us beat,
A Shelter in the time of storm
We'll never leave our safe retreat,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Be Thou our Helper ever near,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Marilyn: I do hope you can get pain relief from your foot problem = it will help you get around so much better.

Judy:  Hooray! John is recuperating so nicely.

I am home a full day early because the insurance company couldn't get their act together and OK the surgery for our son.  A neighbor -she is a nurse -will watch him the entire night after he finally gets surgery insurance answer.  Apparently, several weeks is not enough time for a corporation to act.  I am just wiped out from the flight being bumpy and a baby crying so much on the plane - poor dear.  Son and I  had to rise at 4:30 AM to catch the plane - driving almost 70 miles to the airport in the dark & slippery road.  Oh, Joy! I carried and read the smallest devotion book and it was perfect for me through the days waiting.  The best part is having time alone with this son - he is a long drive  for us.

Granddaughter arrived to spend the night and she may have to work from our house tomorrow if the winter storm arrives. She has a long commute so we have told her to  stay here if necessary.

Greetings Carol  We were sorry to read of your problems with Insurance company.  Very upsetting for you.  And how long does it take for a Corporation to act!

Rest as much a you can. Ell

Greetings Marilyn  Are you prescribed pain relief.  Ell

Janet

Carol, good to read you made the trip and are safely home again.  Sorry your son didn't have the needed surgery, though.  Delays of that kind are so frustrating!

Marilyn, I'm so sorry about your foot pain!  Hope the surgery goes well and the recovery supernaturally well and quick! Use the wheelchair as needed, after all--why not?

I am still feeling miserable.  Cannot sit without pain, and am so exhausted all the time.  Had an appointment today, and was told my potassium is still very low, even though I am taking a double dose of it!  And thyroid is acting up, so took me off that med.  And I have another UTI.  Was sent for a back X-ray, trying to find the cause of the pain when sitting.  It appears there are bulges, which they suspect are discs--now they are scheduling me for an MRI on Wednesday. SIGH....... Not fun getting old sometimes, is it?

Glad John's recovery from knee surgery has gone so well.

We are to get some Wintry weather the next few days, and I'm hearing a lot of complaining about that.  Why do we fuss so much about things we have no control over?  I guess because we are human.

Having had no sleep last night, I went to bed at 2 PM after I got home from the Dr. and slept until 6. When I woke up, I didn't know if it was evening or morning!  Decided since Darrel was up it must b evening--too early for him if it were morning!  Now I'm trying to stay up long enough that I can sleep when I go to bed.  We put the electric blanket back on the bed tonight!

I cannot sit here any longer, so I guess I will head to bed!  "Night, all!

We flew through a mild snowstorm but what concerned me the most was the plane in Montana was taking on ice - very thankful de-icing procedure was done on the wings, etc.  Ice on a plane adds a lot of extra weight and it was already a full passenger list.

Back home and this snow has melted from typical sunshine.  We have a two day drive ahead of us beginning tomorrow.  We have a friend who is losing her eyesight very quickly and we can be of some help.  She is in Tucson.  The roads look fine right now.

Otherwise, our church is in deep debt and needs repairs.  It seems true that people are wandering away.

Carol

Three interruptions here and I signed off too early.

Marilyn:  Every day your pain should lessen a bit - prayerfully.

Janet:  It is so frustrating when more than one part of the body is in pain. I do hope they work on the most important pain right away.

Oldiesmann:  How are your car problems working out? I hope they will make it look newer again and the other driver pays for the work.

Right now, I am making a list online to a grocery store in Tucson and will activate my order when we are at least closer in the drive.  What a nice set-up idea - I have been using this for years and only had one hick-up.

Janet

Thank you, Ellie, Marilyn and Carol.  I did go
to the regional mtg. of UMW today at my church, but should have stayed at home.  I couldn't understand the speakers, Yes, I had on my hearing aids!)  And my pain made me really "squirmy."  So I'd have been better off at home.

I don't know anything much that would be of interest, mostly just checking in.  Love you all!
