August's Devotional...
by Bill Wiese

Over the years, some people have accused me of using scare tactics when I warn about hell.

If preaching hell is using scare tactics, then Jesus is guilty. He preached hell more than anyone else in the Bible.

Warning someone of impending danger is a message of love. What lies ahead in the afterlife for those who haven't repented should scare any rational person. Jude 23 tells us that some will only be saved with fear, pulling them out of the fire. Many people won't be swayed by just telling them, "Jesus loves you."

There is arrogance today toward God and a lack of respect for Him and all authority. Some people must be confronted with the severe reality of hell instead.

Jesus said in Luke 12:4-5a, "I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that can do no more. But I will warn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell. Yes, I say to you, fear Him." This is a very clear warning that hell is much worse than being killed, and awaits all those who don't fear God.

When hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast, the headline of a local newspaper and CNN read, "Certain death to those who do not vacate." You wouldn't say the writers of that article were mean for issuing that statement or that they were using scare tactics. You would be grateful for the warning. In the same way, God is giving us fair warning. You can heed His warnings and live, or ignore them and die.

Should we avoid warning people about the reality of hell because it will scare them? It is their choice to heed the warning.

Janet

Thanks, Judy, for posting the great devotional thoughts, and the song by Keith Green.
I hadn't thought about him in ages, and loved his singing.  Nice continuation of my day.  (Was going to say nice start--but I have already been up almost six hours, so my day started quite a while ago!)

We are so tired of being locked out of church, thinking of finding somewhere else to worship!  Little FB messages just aren't the full meals we need!  Yesterday we drove over to Hugoton and went to church with our Daughter and son in law.  I'm watching The River Church in Tampa Bay, Florida (Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne) every night!  Boy, it is great!  Wish I lived near it!  Bold truth with NO apologies to anyone!  Refreshing!!

We traded our beautiful Lincoln MKZ Hybrid in on a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid the other day.  Now I'm sure regretting it!  Finding several thing about the Rav that I don't like.  That's life, I guess.  Main reason was that Darrel had such trouble getting in and out of the Lincoln.  The SUV is much easier to enter and exit.  Sigh.....

We just got word of the death of a former bro-in-law.  And my eldest sister is in hospital and not doing well.  These things come much closer together the older we get, as we are all aware.

I need to run to town and do a couple little errands, see you later!

Loving all the music!

Weather reports a damaging hail is coming this direction.  I had a really early 7:50 AM doctor's appointment.  She is so overworked and has a one year old child too.  She changed a med I take.  Don and I had to search in a drug store for some strong creams for his painful skin condition (not diagnosed).  I have been making oatmeal/warm water  bowls for his arms at least.

Yes, indeed it is not the same as being in church - I am re-reading a pile of books given to me in the last few years.  They are all written by pastors or bible scholars.  Soothing to the spirit.

Here is a quote from Anne Graham Lotz :
"
"Your Father is waiting to welcome you home..........unconditionally."       Her book is "The Troubled Times Looking Forward with Hope to.... Heaven My Father's House"

So good to see that we are back up and running!!

Tried to post another song a while back and wasn't able.  So we will try again!

Greetings Everyone  I have been on what they call a staycation with hubby. A lot of planning went into our staycation, with hubby in a wheelchair, plus his other health conditions.  Then again anything is possible when you put your mind to it.   Ellie

Janet

Just a quick reply via quick reply this morning.  A dear friend of over 50 years has gone to heaven and her service is at 10:00.  I won't get to paint today as I have an appointment at noon that will take at least two hours.

My precious sister is "winding down."  They couldn't wake her to take her pills last night; it took three family members to get her ready and into bed; she didn't move all night, and they haven't been able to wake her this morning.
I am wishing I were younger and stronger so I could be of help, but I'm not strong enough to lift her, even though she is quite small.  So my job right now is prayer--lots of prayer!  Brother in law is trying desperately to find help with the daily care, not just nursing, and their daughter and granddaughter have to leave Friday.  They live in Minnesota.....God has a plan.  He always does.  We just have to trust Him.

Time to go.....

Oh yes, God has a plan...I will happily vouch for that, from my own personal experience...and to also add, it is in His time, not ours..

My 'puter cannot type correctly today.   ^-^

Hurrah!  Don slept an entire 5 hours last night.  It is cooler in the basement and his skin is really hot to the touch so we keep on with meds from the drug store.  The VA hospital is still closed and he did get a call from his doctor or perhaps it was an email  He is exhausted from the pain and it isn't even diagnosed - whatever this cruel health problem is at this time.

Janet:  Sorry for your stress at this time - you are so right.  There is a plan and it isn't easy to "see" the plan at any time. When we look back - it is noticeable.

I am going to listen to Judy's music now - take care all.

JudyB

Carol

Judy:How special the music is - so spot on with what everyone is feeling.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I picked up groceries this morning and they made a mistake so that is now checked off but I need to pick up medicine too - the pharmacy made a mistake.  These poor people are really working overtime.

Thanks again for this special song.  I am going to play it for Don right now.

JudyB

Janet and everyone thank you. I try to keep it relevant, and uplifting.  Jesus is returning soon, we need to keep our ears open for the sound of the trumpet, and our lamps lit.  We need to be aware of the signs of the times.... Even so come LORD
Jesus!

Just discovered Jerry Lee Lewis' gospel album... I wonder what Jimmy Swaggart thought of his cousin's rocking rendition of "I'll Fly Away" (Jimmy Swaggart is an American evangelist who has been very outspoken about rock and roll being the devil's music)

Probably my 2nd favorite behind that done by Christian Celtic rock band Flatfoot 56 (think the hymn with bagpipes and your standard English punk sound...).

Hello everyone...just a quick note as we are leaving for Nebraska.  My precious sister passed away on Monday, so we are going for her service.  She's joyful, free from all pain, and having a beautiful, happy reunion with so many she knew and loved here on earth.  So I cannot but be happy for Doris!

Our plan is to return home on Saturday; until then, blessings to each of you!

"Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.
By Whom we also have access by faith into this grace, wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the Glory of God. ROM. 5.

The believers life is a life of faith and hope. We hope for that which we cannot see.. Eternity.. A life with God in Heaven
It is all promised to us in various parts of scripture and especially in John's gospel.. I go to prepare a place for you..Our Lord desires that we be with Him to see His Glory, the Glory which He left behind to come to earth to save us. The first time I took Margit to my homeland of Scotland and she saw the hills, the rivers, the heather covered moors, the pine forests, her first words were " why did you ever leave?"
But that's a long story.
When we get to our true home in Heaven we will understand something of what our Master gave up to come to Earth to redeem us from the slavery of sin!
But " there was no other good enough to pay the price of sin.
Only He could unlock the door of Heaven and let us in."

Had a great 5 day visit with Gilbert and Sonja. They were vacationing  here and doing some sightseeing up the coast as well. Last night they pitched the tent on our back deck and left for home this morning.

I'm glad you got away Marilyn!

Janet are you home yet? Been praying.

We have rain coming every other day this week!  John and our neighbour Lloyd still have a field of hay to take off, it has been a weird year, for rain.  John has been working on a construction site, driving a water truck, keeping the dust down! A busy year!

HELLO!! Yes, Judy, I'm home.  We got here Saturday night.  Our church is still closed, to open next Sunday, so I spent all day Sunday watching wonderful Spirit-filled services on my computer!  I'm still dealing with John's stuff; have the car sold, as we don't need or want it, even though it's a really nice little car; anyway, problem was I needed his drivers' license number, and didn't have that.  But I did more searching today and, praise God, I found his license!  So I'm in hopes now we can get a replacement title, since that's among the missing, as well.  He did have it paid off, just paid the last payment the month before he died, and we have the lien release.  Sorry....TMI!

Are any (or all) of you having to wear face masks?  I cannot stand them; feel as if I will pass out from lack of oxygen.  Plus, they are dehumanizing and meant to instill more fear so they can control us even more.
Sigh......

It's time for me to sack out; I've been up since 4 AM.  No reason, except I couldn't sleep any more.

Wishing God's blessings to each of you!

Janet so glad you are home safe. Yes winding things up after a death can be problematic.
I totally agree on the facemask issue, it also hides the identity of those who abduct children..... At least POTUS is working on that!

Have a great day everyone!

Wow!  where is everybody?  Judy and I are getting lonely in here; please come back and chat with us!

I don't know what is wrong with me; I feel so lethargic, and have to really push myself to get anything done.
But I know God is with me, and this should pass soon (I hope!)

Our church is to open this Sunday--but they say "Masks STRONGLY encouraged."  So I may have to be a computer churchgoer for a while longer.

My Sis is still strongly in my mind; that may account for some of my listlessness; but I wouldn't know why, as I'm so happy for her to be safely in heaven and out of this broken, sinful, crazy earth!

Love you all; now I'm going back to listen to some of the wonderful music Judy has been posting.

Greetings Janet  I pop in now and again. It is quiet on here.  When I go to the hair stylists I wear a face mask.  And in many shops in the UK, it is a requirement.   Ellie

Apologies on my lengthy absence if i have been missed...I moved to a new address 140 miles back to what i class as home 17 days ago...Well i wont need to tell you my internet - landline - tv provider gave me so many problems before engineer came to reconnect me, after i paid for reconnection which lasted for 24 - 48 hours only after i moved home, then next day took it away from me...and yes i want to change to a less hassle free provider but they have now tied me into a two year contract, so much for 43 years loyalty to them...

"God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.     Genesis 1:31

Taken from one of my birthday cards given to me by a good friend, wife of a pastor, who is and has been dealing with a very ill husband.  Our little group from church had a birthday lunch for me - they are my dearest friends.  Only two of us still have husbands and her husband has been on Hospice care for a long time.

I had a wonderful birthday here with almost all of the family - we sat on the porch spaced apart and did not have to wear a mask with being outdoors.  There were 8 of us and they brought the entire meal.  Talk about being grateful!  I was especially happy that they were here as Don has been feeling very weak - enough so he tried to get into the VA and his doctor wasn't able to call back.  Tomorrow (Monday) perhaps she will have time.  Prayers for all the medical staff - they are angels on earth.  He is a bit better today.

Janet:  Our air quality is horrible from all the fires so we are all careful about being outdoors - I hope it doesn't go all the way to your area.  Also, it is very common nowadays to feel weak and tired - the news is just awful and it is hard adjusting to a new way of living.  We feel that way sometimes as well as many of our friends and family.  This is such a violent city, no one can predict when any normal will return. Do you have my yahoo address?  It is just my first initial and last name.  ....

What I see around here is the unifying of the churches - it is such a blessing to read about the churches helping each other.

Jackie:  I hope all of your internet issues and t. v. get corrected to ease your change of place.  Good wishes on finding new friends and your old friends in that area.

Judy:  I love love love "10,000 Reasons!  Many thanks.

I am feeling more happier now i have moved from 140 miles to what i call " back home " although has changed a lot, and not in the pleasanter way, more rougher, more nationalities but the noise from traffic out my front window when window is open is not something i have ever been used to but...to hold this in perspective, their is a hospital where ambulances come whizzing around the corner to where i am now living at speed with their sirens blaring, and although noisy, my first instinct - my first thought is for the person - people who are inside it, as i give a little thought and prayer to that person, these people, and give thanks that that person inside it, is not ME...

Greetings Jackie   Splendid news that you are posting again.   Where you are living sounds like where I resided for  few years in Aylesbury.  Cars, yes ambulances whizzing by. Splendid seeing many more nationalities in the country.    Ellie

Janet

I was here yesterday but got interrupted before getting a post typed.  Now I'm listening/watching the RNC, but will try to multi-task for a few minutes!

Happy belated birthday, Carol!  I'm trying hard to think of your last name, since yesterday, still hasn't popped into my mind.  Aughhh! I know I know it!!  So glad you had a nice birthday with most of your family.
We're going to a party for Abby on Wednesday, at her brother Curtis', and Mark is coming from Florida.  It's sort of for her college graduation, as she will soon be going back to Manhattan, Kansas to take more classes. She's going for her doctorate!  Anyway, will be god to see all the kids again!  We just saw Kerri and her two sons a couple weeks ago, so life is good!

Marilyn, I'm sorry your life is so tough right now, but God will reward you for taking loving care of Keith during this phase of his life.  I pray strength and peace for you as you journey onward.  ((((hugs))))

Jackie, is your home now on a more level terrain so you can get out and in more easily than where you were?
It's sad when you return to a place you liked, only to find so many more people, noise, traffic.  Carol surely has experienced that!  I hope you're adjusting, and that you have friends there to "hang out" with.

We got to have church in our church building Sunday.  So good to see our church family again!  Some still are afraid to be around people, and that's fine.  About a third or half of the people there wore masks.  It breaks my heart to see the little children with those on..... :'(

We went to Garden city today.  I had to take my phone to the doctor again.  Hope it stays healthy now.  I got one of those sanitizing things to put it in overnight while it's charging.    Wouldn't want it to catch anything!  It wasn't ringing, just going straight to voicemail; I couldn't hear the voice on little videos, etc.....anyway, it seems to be "recovered" now!  ;D

Right now, I am very happy to be living out here in the 'boonies' where we don't have rioting, looting, and all that rot.  God, deliver us!

I need a great book to read!  I'm reading the greatest one, it's called the BIBLE.  But I enjoy reading other books, too.

I'm signing out now, before I babble any more!  G'Night!

I forgot to mention a little miracle here.  A few days ago, this laptop's keyboard became useless.  We could not understand how to "fix" it and so disappointed because it isn't that old.  Lo and behold, the next morning I tried it once more and it now works.  Very thankful.  :)

Thanks all for notes.  We keep plugging away.  Today, our youngest son may be driving Don to the VA - we are not sure he can get in there at all.  We called and left messages a half week earlier - they are overrun with patients so we are not sure of any attention.

Picking up groceries is my task today -

Janet:  No - Abby can't be that old - OK, good for her and her seeking more education.  Seeing family is such a wonderful feeling.

My "To Do" list is I want to put a binding (finishing) on a quilt and I keep getting interrupted.

Now to listen to the latest music - courtesy of Judy!  Many thanks

Ellie...
... not ground but first floor, there is a small lift but my mobility scooter has to be folded- unfolded each time i get in the lift which for me with MS is not an easy task to do, where no one offers to help...Ground floor is what i need but i am using this as stepping stone for me...

Janet...
... i feel good being " back home " although it feels like it has wiped 20 years away of my life, as if the past 20 years of meeting my Richard and setting up our forever home after we got engaged, had never happened but, it did, i - we once had a good life which sadly has come to its end now...I am now left with the memories, and no one can, nor will ever take those good and happy memories of my life with Richard and my-our three dogs away from me...
Both Richard and i are back " home, " just the one County separates us...and of course " life and death, " also is separating us...

Carol...
... yes small miracles do happen...2 small miracles happened to me after i lost my Richard...Richard or someone guiding my Richard helped me to find things, open things that i needed, that turned up in a place i had looked so many times but was not there, or opened something that just opened when i had so much trouble previously opening...

Ellie: So right, these electronics are ruling our world.

Jackie:  Keep your eyes open and I hope you can get a place on the main floor.

We still have poor air quality from the huge fires in the western part of Colorado and even from California.  I am putting the binding (last hand sewing) on another quilt and there is a table runner almost ready to put together.  My goal is to skinny down the fabric stash and just keep my mind on being grateful plus active enough not to dwell on the sadness creeping into everyone's lives.  Counting blessings.

Carol

It is still too smokey here to  sit outdoors.  Only the first snow in the mountains will begin to clean our air.

Judy:  Always a treat to listen to a song you have posted.  How are you two faring these days?  Can you get everything you need from the grocery store?

Janet:  Our church has online messages and they are from any one who works there so we can keep up sorta with what is happening.  No, it certainly is not the same.

Don has had one call from his doctor - he has been trying for two weeks to be "seen".

Yea - I am on the last part of a quilt where I like to hand sew the binding (edges).  Already choosing fabric to make some table runners for gift - our granddaughter has an apartment now - she "flew" away to a place north of this city.  It sounds like she will be having a nice girl to share the rent.

JudyB

Carol

"Worthy of the Lamb" is playing now - many thanks.  I really only knew that song from a few years ago - my Lutheran churches usually keep the old songs but some new one are showing up on Sundays.  I attend a few different churches with friends.

We were able to sit on the deck in the sunshine today because the air quality looks a bit better.  How nice - we have lots of fires burning in the mountains and now there is news of snow falling this last week a couple of times.  Terrible fires this year - many prayers for the loss of trees and housing.

We had our annual flu shots and glad that To Do can be ticked off.  Numbers still show flu kills more people than the latest virus. One year, we thought we had the flu and it was food poisoning from a restaurant.
