Morning Devotional...

From Chris Saunders

"By faith Israel passed through the Red Sea, as by dry land, when the Egyptians tried to do so they were drowned" .
Heb. 11.
Imagine it, a vast, deep, sea in front of you, Pharaoh's vast army coming to butcher you, was ever a miracle needed, but God had promised to bring them out of bondage into a promised land, our God keeps His promises, the Bible tells us that "God is not a man that He should lie." Well that is actually a condemnation of man! But it happens to be oh so true.
We do lie.
But fortunately God cannot, for He is without sin.
And if He promises to protect you then protect you He will, let's trust Him now to bring us through this dreadful time, " He will never fail you nor forsake you".. Now that's a good promise!

Standing on the Promises
(Click to hear music)

For all the promises of God in him are yea,
and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2 Corinthians 1:20

Author:  R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1928
Musician:  R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1928

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I?m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love?s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit?s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit?s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Louisa M. R. Stead, 19th Century
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

THE KING IS COMING!!!

The marketplace is empty
No more traffic in the streets
All the builders' tools are silent
No more time to harvest wheat
Busy housewives cease their labors
In the courtroom no debate
Work on earth is all suspended
As the King comes thro' the gate
O the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpets sounding
And now His face I see
O the King is coming
The King is coming
Praise God, He's coming for me
Happy faces line the hallways
Those whose lives have been redeemed
Broken homes that He has mended
Those from prison He has freed
Little children and the aged
Hand in hand stand all aglow
Who were crippled, broken, ruined
Clad in garments white as snow
O the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpets sounding
And now His face I see
O the King...

From Chris Saunders

"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down when they were compassed about for seven days." Heb 11
What a sight this must have been to the inhabitants of the city.. The mighty men of Israel with the priests marching around for a week. God had said to Joshua " See I have given you this city, the king, the mighty warriors." That was all Joshua needed to know, God said it that settled it. The city was gone!
The bible tells us..
" none went in and none went out"
We know the feeling!
And so it was that Joshua believed God's Promise and on the seventh day at the sound of the trumpets, the walls fell flat.
Joshua had told the army. " don't say anything just keep quiet as we march, but on the seventh day.. Shout! For the Lord has given you this city!"
We don't see any Jericho's today we don't need to, but today if you hear His voice, better obey it eh?

Thanks for asking Jackie. We are fine here.  However my cousin James in California nees prayer, He has the virus and his wife Sandra is on home  Dialysis. He told me this morning that yesterday was so bad he thought he was going to die.

Yesterday I ordered my groceries on line  with a program called Instacart. They were delivered  from a local store in under and hour. I am not going to stores unless absolutely necessary. Tomorrow is Freckles Grooms appointment and next week is her yearly  Exam and shots at the Veterinarian. They are not letting anyone i  the office, a Technician will come out to your car to get your dog and bring  them back to the car.

We are following orders to stay in place.  No one has come in the house.  Our children park in the drive way and we stand a long way apart to chat.  They are following the Stay Apart rules.  It sure is different. With all of the lay-offs  there will be more and more homeless.  If we didn't have the rule of non-gathering, I wonder how  church will get through this financially.  They have hired quite a few people and have been in financial trouble for several years.

Thank you for two great songs.

Marilyn:  Sorry to read about your cousin's suffering and the health condition on his wife.  Sometimes, the load of life gets rather heavy.  I order online and do the Pick Up instead of delivery.  We open the trunk at a specified time, and they load and even sign (so we don't share pens).  There are some substitutions and I have OK'd  all so far.  Just very happy to have that service because Don has health issues where he could not catch anything.

We have online messages from church, we call neighbors and friends,

Prayers for those who lost jobs, and businesses that are failing through no fault of their own.  Prayers for medical equipment needed, and a true cure delivered soon plus everyone on CP.

Thanks for the music you choose to put on CP.  Prayers for Canada - one grandson wants to go to a fireman's training there.  He has one more class (online) to finish here.  I told him, that he has to love hockey.

Be safe!  Keep faith!

Greetings Carol    When I ventured out today into the Town shopping area it was deserted. Apart from the two large food stores, all the shops were shut. As were the hotels, pubs, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers, and many other businesses.   As well all the Churches are closed.  To decrease Covid-19 infections, in the UK,  the Island where we live and around the world; self isolation and social distancing is  seen as key to stop transmission of Coronavirus.  Ellie

Jane Walker

Hellooooo  I just got back from a long time out.  Was wondering if anyone still remembered me.  :)
Things have been pretty much rolling along in the usual pattern for me, here.  I live alone and seldom go any place anyway, so this social distancing is nothing new for me.  I order my groceries online and drive over to pick them up. Just pop the trunk and they come and put them in for me ... even sign for me ... so I don't even have to get out of the car.
Some of my family and I were planning a reunion of sorts in Albuquerque New Mexico for this month but that has been scrubbed.  We have been planning it for more than a year, and there are even two of my brother's sons that we have never met who were going to be there.  The house had been reserved and tickets purchased but we had to cancel and hope to reschedule within a year so we don't lose all that money.
I am the matriarch of this family so I'm thinking my sisters and all the younger ones should treat me with honor and respect.  ;D  That's my thinking but that's not to say anyone else thinks that way.  My great granddaughter, Karmen, sent me a message on Facebook after my recent birthday. "I want to talk with you more often and I love you. You are getting really old but I still love you very much" I think that's great that, even though I am so old she still loves me.  ;D  I call her my Special K and she came back with "you're MY special G" I haven't seen her for well over a year but I had planned to drive to California and then my daughter, her two daughters, and my two great grandkids were all going to go by Amtrak to New Mexico in a group.  That would have been an interesting trip but now we'll never know. ???
I will be popping back in,now and then, just to see who's here and what y'all are up to.
Take care and stay safe (and well) and I'll be back.

Hey Jane, good to "see" you

I have a prayer request.  Many of you will remember Heather our daughter.  I have a prayer request regarding her situation.

Her husband Jon has been tested for Covid-19.  His breathing is shallow.  Heather is obviously concerned. Please pray that god will give her peace, and that if it is God's will to heal Jon.  Heather lost her daughter nearly 2 years ago.  She really needs God's peace in this.

Good night everyone and God bless

Jane Walker...
... welcome back to our fold, and yes i remember you as i have often posted on here " has anyone heard from Jane Walker, as i had not seen any postings from you for a long time," and here you are...

Judy...
... as if this epidemic is not bad enough but worse when it hits " one of our own." Like everyone, prayers are said on behalf of the world from me every day, to end this never ending death toll....So many Christians must be asking this same question, " why is our God letting this happen, and why and when will our God put a stop to all this."

Thank you for the welcome back.  I really have no excuse for my long absence except for the fact that I just had no desire to see or "talk" with anyone after my second daughter's death.  That really hit me hard and now, since her memorial service over three years ago, I have not seen nor heard from her only son.. my grandson, Bryan.  His stepdad moved to Missouri two years ago and there is no one to even keep me updated on Bryan's goings or comings.  My granddaughter, Becky filed a missing person report last December, but the one friend he had visited said he last saw him a year ago last October.  I have been a bit concerned about him. He has no family that cares about him and he does have problems.  Just a loving grandma here during this "stay home" time wondering if he even has a home to stay in.  He has spent a lot of time in his life being homeless and sleeping under bridges, etc.  I'd love it if, while we're praying, you'd help me pray for word of his whereabouts.  Thank you.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Hello, everyone!  And welcome home, Jane!  I have thought of you and wondered where you were. I have missed a few days in here.  We have been really overloaded with trying to get John's apartment emptied, having to go through years of mail, a lot of it never opened, looking for important papers concerning his retirement, looking for his Social Security card, just so many things.  And we had to throw away most of his stuff, it was just too nasty to clean.  I wasn't going to do it, and there's no one else either.

Marilyn, I hope you and Keith can avoid the virus.  Such a sad time for so many.  Jane, how well I remember your often talking about "My guy Bry" way back when he was in the service.  I pray you can locate him soon. Life can hand us some tough ones, but by trusting our Father God, we somehow make it through.

Judy, so sorry to hear about Heather's husband.  She doesn't need more heartache either, that's for sure.

Today I managed to get through the last huge bag and good sized box of John's papers (junk mail, cards, important stuff and trash all jumbled together) and I found another check for $100 from his sister; his Social Security card; both his and Beth's birth certificates, his retirement information, and a lot of pictures. Now I have it pared down to a manageable size and can send his family the pictures and things that are of value to them but not to me, as I have never met any of them.  Such a sad, heartbreaking situation.

Jacqueline, always good to see some lines from you.  Hope you're staying safe and have someone to shop for your groceries, etc.  My granddaughter just got a job at Dillons and will be gathering the online orders for folks.

Ellie,it sounds like we are all living under the same rules, uh, sorry!  Guidelines.  We live a few miles out in the country and are staying put, except for occasional trips to the grocery store.  Sometimes we call ahead to the Senior Center, order two meals, then drive by and pick it up.  They bring it out to the car. I heard today that the Covid-19 is now in 184 countries!  Goodness!  And how many countries are there?

Carol, do stay safe.  I'm used to being so active I hope I won't get antsy after I get rested up some from this ordeal over John.  I'm wanting to get back to my painting.  I have quite a bunch of things painted and more I want to do.  Best therapy in the world for me.  I pray Don is doing better.

It is soon going to be four AM, I went to bed at 9:30, had just gotten to sleep when Darrel came in and woke me (unintentially) and I couldn't get back to sleep.  So I got up and read for an hour and a half, went back and tried again, no go, so up again and had a cup of hot chocolate and decided to try to catch up in here. I'm gonna need a nap this afternoon, I'm thinking.

Judy, I saw your message on FB, will try to find what you put on CP.

Blessings, everybody.  Please stay safe!

From Chris,

" Who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame."
He is our Forerunner, our great Example, He shows us how to Live and How to die.
Can you feel a little of that great joy now?
That Joy that awaits every faithful believer, every beloved child of God, why worry about what the world thinks of us, they will never know persecution or scorn nor mocking. Nor God's wonderful blessings, all they have to look forward to is a Christless life a Christless death and a Christless eternity in a very lonely place. But there is always Hope... Where their is life there is hope.
Let your joy be full.

Carol

Hello!
Rebot:  I would think being on an island would be of some help of staying away from this virus.  Perhaps it could be more difficult for you to keep up with supplies?

Jane:  It is very nice to see you post.  Prayers for Bryan.

Judy: Prayers for Heather and her husband plus you and John.  Thank you for the message of joy.

Janet:  My parents died just weeks apart and she was in an Alzheimer unit in Minnesota and he was in Seattle.  It was a whip lash kind of year for me trying to take care of everything.  I am so sorry that you have to carry this load.  All I can say is it will be finished some day - sending a prayer for you two.

Here is a funny note.  Last night at 8 PM - it was cold and dark here - I could hear a dog yipping.  Stepping out (we have a ravine in back that is a half block wide) the noise became louder.  It was neighbors all around barking at the full moon.  So funny when some dogs, and some were really deep sounding yips, started howling. My howl wasn't very coyote like - It is to support our health care givers plus police and firemen.  The UK claps hands and here in Colorado, we howl and that opens up the neighborhood to signal the dogs.

Don cut my hair yesterday - he was so shaken by the thought but it turned out OK.  His was easy to trim.

Thank you to Chris for reminding us of JOY!  We always have The great example to follow.

Carol

Marilyn:  Sorry, I just wanted to say prayers for your family members - and most of all for you and your husband.

From Chris

"Consider Him Who endured such contradiction
Of sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and your mind wants to give up."
Contradiction.... Contra = against... Diction=speach.
Let's consider whar our Gracious Saviour had to put up with.
He said that He was the Messiah they said no.. The messiah will come from Bethlehem not Nazereth!
He intimated that He was God, saying that He and the Father were one.. They said no.. You can't be!
He quoted Moses and the Old Testament to them.. They disagreed.. for they had the teachings of their Rabbis which contradicted the scriptures!
He told them that He cast out demons with the Finger of God.. They said You cast them out by power given You by the devil!
They set Him traps and riddles all through His ministry. Many, many more things they did to try and contradict Him, they just did not want this kind, gracious Messiah. Who gave sight to the blind, made cripples walk, cleansed lepers, raised the dead. And who was willing to forgive them their sins.
Instead they accused Him, the Holy, Sinless, Lamb of God of being the sinner!
Human nature does not change over the Centuries, science, technology, medicines. Etc, progress, human nature remains the same.
This world has no time for Christ, as the Scribes, Pharisees, Saducees had no time for Him back then.
And like them, people today want to live their lives without Him, they had Him crucified then, they would crucify Him still today.
Life for most is still one great contradiction!
If you know Him as your Lord and Saviour then rejoice... You will know what contradiction is!
He shall never leave you nor forsake you.

Hello again!  I have some news/answered prayer of Bryan!
A couple months ago I tried to contact a family who were friends with Joy and John and with whom Bryan used to hang out .  Just now I got a message back saying "Bryan's fine ... he's a part of our family, off and on.  He's living with his girl friend, Nicole" (she is the daughter of one of Joy's good friends).  I am so relieved to know he is okay and maintaining contact with some good people.  I think it would be nice if he felt comfortable enough to make contact with some of our family.  We have been so concerned about him.

I want to thank each of you for your welcome back ... I'm sorry for not keeping in touch.  There was just so much suffering and the passing of so many friends both here and on S&F I just felt overwhelmed.

Tomorrow is my daughter Dottie's birthday.  She's 59, the same age her sister Joy reached before leaving us.  Jacqueline, I see it is also an anniversary for you as well.  I do empathize with you. I know these "firsts" are really difficult.  I'm not sure they get any easier with the passing of time, but maybe we're more able to cope with the emotions.

I will be back later, but now I must get busy with some other stuff.  And I want to let the family know that I've had news of Bryan.  So, until later ... y'all behave and stay safe and healthy.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

THE BUMMER LAMB

Every once in a while, an ewe will give birth to a lamb and reject it. There are many reasons she may do this. If the lamb is returned to the ewe, the mother may even kick the poor animal away. Once a ewe rejects one of her lambs, she will never change her mind.
These little lambs will hang their heads so low that it looks like something is wrong with its neck. Their spirit is broken.
These lambs are called "bummer lambs." Unless the shepherd intervenes, that lamb will die, rejected and alone. So, do you know what the shepherd does?
He takes that rejected little one into his home, hand-feeds it and keep it warm by the fire. He will wrap it up with blankets and hold it to his chest so the bummer can hear his heartbeat. Once the lamb is strong enough, the shepherd will place it back in the field with the rest of the flock.
But that sheep never forgets how the shepherd cared for him when his mother rejected him. When the shepherd calls for the flock, guess who runs to him first?
That is right, the bummer sheep. He knows his voice intimately.
It is not that the bummer lamb is loved more, it just knows intimately the one who loves it.
It's not that it is loved more, it just believes it because it has experienced that love one on one.
So many of us are bummer lambs, rejected and broken. But He is the good Shepherd. He cares for our every need and holds us close to His heart so we can hear His heartbeat.
We may be broken but we are deeply loved by the Shepherd.
The Lord is MY shepherd... I'm a bummer lamb.

Jane:  How nice for your good news!  Praise greetings to you!

Judy:  Your work in here is much appreciated. I love the story of little bummer lambs.

Chris:  Thank you for all your work as well.

Jackie:  Prayers for healing with your new medicine.

I am knitting a scarf or two to donate to the church bazaar this fall.  Sure do hope church is open by then - who can predict what is ahead.  So far, all our children and grands are working.  It is quiet at the house - no one has visited for over two weeks now - our closest son will come and stand at the end of the driveway but that is it.  We cannot go to church as it is closed.  We only go out every 10 days or so to pick up groceries ordered online.  We open the trunk and a worker puts the groceries in the car and even signs off on the order - that way we are not touching anything and they are not touching as well.  Today, there were no substitutions. Uf they ask, I just say I am happy with anything - so glad to have this service and at no extra cost.  I think my prescription order in a few weeks can be handled the same way.

It is a beautiful day here with perfect temperature.  Tomorrow, Easter Sunday,  a strong winter storm is expected with snow and wind.  Springtime in the Rockies.

He is Risen, Indeed!!

CHRIST AROSE
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Robert Lowry, 1826-1899
Musician:  Robert Lowry, 1826-1899

Low in the grave He lay,
Jesus, my Savior!
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord!

Chorus:
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes;
He arose a victor
From the dark domain,
And He lives forever
With His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch His bed,
Jesu, my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead,
Jesus my Lord!

Chorus:

Death cannot keep his prey,
Jesus, my Savior!
He tore the bars away,
Jesus my Lord!

Chorus:

JudyB

The hymn, "Christ Arose" is a hymn of sheer drama. Robert Lowry, the author, has said,
My brain is sort of a spinning machine, for there is music running through it all the time.
As he read the verses above, Luke 24:6-7, he sat at his little pump organ and wrote out the words and tune to this hymn in 1862. Lowry was a Bible scholar and engaging orator who became the music editor for the Biglow Publishing Company. This hymn of his depicts a shining contrast between the moods of death and resurrection.

Today has been difficult for me.  I have wanted to post a picture of Pat, Murray and I.  I have lost the instructions Pat gave me many years ago, and both Pat and Jeanne have gone on to glory.  If anyone remembers how to post pictures would you send me a private message with instructions?

Janet

Judy, thanks so much for posting Don Francisco singing "He's Alive!  It's one of my very favorites, too.  Many years ago now, I got to see and hear him in person singing that song, and that was the first time I had ever heard it.

Hi Carol!  We had a lovely day here, as well.  I took the dogs for a walk, felt good to be out in fresh air and sunshine.  I also got back in my studio and did a bit of painting.  Hadn't been able to do that since John was found.  :'(

Jackie, hope your cellulitis goes away quickly.  That's no fun, for sure.  I have had it from falling and skinning my leg, then got the infection.  Happy Easter tomorrow. I hope you will be able to see a service online or on facebook.  That's what we will be doing.

Judy, I hope you get the instructions, as I would love to see the photo.  I posted a couple on FB yesterday for Siblings Day, too.

Jane, you are welcome here any time!  C'mon back!

I think I will go bake a fresh peach pie for tomorrow!  Well, get the peaches out of the freezer, anyway!

Marilyn, how are you, Keith and Freckles?  My "new" little dog loves stuffed toys.  She has several of her own but likes to "steal" mine!  Today she stole a dog, then a turtle, then a little Sloth!

May each of you be truly blessed this Resurrection Day!  Love you!

All sin for all time, everyone born into this world has the opportunity to have their sins forgiven...It's not just those who are called and chosen, and also the Whosoever!
Whosoever will may come and take the Water of Life freely, without cost, for the price has been paid.. A terrible price... a dreadful cost.. Paid by the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
This day we remember the women approaching the tomb and asking "who will roll the stone away "
That wasn't a problem, an Angel had already removed the stone ( Matthew ch. 28.)
And His words to the woman were.. "don't be afraid.. I know you are looking for Jesus Who was crucified,
He is not here.. He is risen.. See the place where He lay."
On this Easter Sunday morning, are you looking for Jesus, He Who suffered and died in your place.. for you. You are the Whosoever, and you can come today, convicted of your sins, and you will be accepted, you do not accept Christ, He accepts you my friend.
Today if you hear His voice, you can know a new Life in Jesus, a New Resurrection Life.
I will never get tired of telling you this, but one day it will be too late.

Wonderful Marilyn!!!!

We have cold weather yesterday and today. Our trucker son is here sleeping in his RV trailer. I suspect her is warmer than we are!

I shared with some of my phone contacts how Jesus gave thanks and broke the bread, it was at that point the disciples recognized the risen Lord. Oh how I would have loved to have been there!

On Saturday night we watched an amazing documentary "Before The Wrath" on Daystar.  Often on Saturday night they put a movie on to have family movie night.  This was about the Galilean wedding and its significance to the coming of Jesus. Jesus said that no one knows only his Father when he will return.  The disciples would have recognized that as only the grooms father would know when he would wake up his son to go and get his bride. "I will come like a thief in the night." The grooms father would wake the groom up and send him for his bride in the night, they would go with trumpets blowing.  It was a wonderful documentary.

Well onward with my day. God bless you all!

Greetings Marilyn  Lots of posts for you to catch up on.  On the Island today it is cooler and the same in the UK.  Splendid sunny day, but as sunny as it is, we have to stay indoors as much as we can to comply with self isolating.  Ellie

We had a quiet Easter staying home and listening to a service on the radio.  It has been snowing and the road does look fine but we have no need to get out of the house.  We are being asked to  stay home - a good idea.  There are many homeless in tents - it breaks my heart to see even children not in a safe place.  I just saw a message that Smithfield company (known for bacon, ham, etc) is donating about 3 million dollars worth of food (protein) to food banks especially in rural areas.

WE are both fine, no virus or sickness here. My cousin James has gotten much better. I am so thankful for that, I sure don't want to lose another family member. This cousin and his sister, were childhood playmates of mine. Their father and my step father were brothers, so even though not blood they are family to me.

Yesterday was like any other day here except there was a video from the pastor with a message. He took us all over the bible in the message. We had leftovers for supper, Keith had pizza and I had a frozen organic dinner.

Yesterday was an emotional day for me, another wave of grief swept over me. I did get a small plastic bag of Ron s sashes from my granddaughter, but right now I just can't deal  with putting them in the pendant. They are in the little box with the pendant until I can make myself  take care of them.

Jane Great news about Bryan I know how  concerned you have been about him since  Joy graduated to heaven.

Hello to Ellie, You too are a carer for you hubby. Sometimes I think that I am tired of this job, and would like to retire even though I know that is n ot going to happen. I have been a carer for almost 30 years for one person or an other. I  now take care of hubby and I have a Hospice Patient that I visit. Or will visit when the lockdown is over.

Janet Freckles doesn't play with toys, I don't think she ever learned to play. She was 5 when I got her and I tried to play ball with her and gave her various toys She put them all in her crate where she sleeps and eats during the day, then she threw them all out the next day. Silly Dog. She is 12 now and my constant companion she is my Service Dog so she goes every where with me ie restaurants, Doctor etc. She is also a Therapy dog who goes to visit patients in the hospital, Cancer Center. Nursing homes, school. Of course we haven't done any of that during this lockdown.

Carol a friend  gave me yarn and a knit pattern for a hat, I don't knit very well but maybe if I follow the instructions It might turn out fine. A long Long time ago I knitted a sweater and when I cast off the neck it was  almost too tight to go over my head. I  also have some chenille  yarn that I don't know what I am going to make, a hat or a scarf. I Crocheted a red Cloche hat and there is enough yarn left I am going to make a scarf to match. (If I can fine my (rountuit)

Judy you can send me the photo and I will post it for you. It may have to be resized the attachments have to a certain size.

Marilyn, glad you found your way back home!  You are missed when you don't post.  Glad your cousin is doing better.  I just called the funeral home re John's ashes, to find out whether or not they will provide a container to bury him in--they do, so that's a big relief.  He had so little money, and we really shouldn't be responsible for all this work, much less the expense.  Poor John; if only he would have taken care of himself.  But that was his choice.  Sigh....

We had a good Easter; watched/participated in our church's online service, including communion.  For lunch (dinner here) I made a big pot of hamburger stew and a fresh peach pie.  It was good!  ;)

Many people and companies are stepping up with the big bucks to help out in this crisis, which is a wonderful thing.  There are still many good people in the world, in spite of the news out of the left swamp.  :uglystupid:

Boy, am I ever missing my family!  Wouldn't be surprised to get notice that I've gone over my allowed cellphone minutes for the month.  Got terrible news yesterday that a close friend has been diagnosed just last week with stage four liver cancer.   :'(   So many things and people needing prayer!

Carol, isn't it awfully cold there?  Thinking of people living in tents is heartbreaking, especially the children, as you said.  I suppose there are as many reasons for people being homeless as there are homeless people.

Jackie, Jane and anyone else out there, come and talk to us.  Being under "House Arrest" is getting boring! Actually, I'm never bored at home, as I have my reading, painting, husband, and work (****)  ;)  to keep me occupied!

I wish you all a pleasant and God-filled day!

"Follow peace with all men, and Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord."
Heb. 12.
Peace with everybody, ah, but sometimes amongst neighbours or in the workplace or in extended family they don't seek peace with you.
Well that's ok, just keep your mouth firmly shut, be polite, well mannered,
Rise above it as much as you can, you march to the sound of a different drum.
Holiness is the believers life. Live the life you are called to live, you cannot get on with everyone, even in a fellowship there will be people who get on your nerves, as you will get on theirs perhaps, get on with what the Lord has called you to do, and most certainly try to love your neighbour and your brother as yourself, unbelievers are your neighbours.. Christians are your brothers.
But love is wonderful, the great Love of Christ in your heart will remove any bitterness that could spring up in your relationship with someone with whom you just don't get on. Love conquers all, it conquered us, when we were God's enemies, it will conquer everything if you go to Christ and ask Him to deal with a situation and to fill you with an abundance of His Love.
The Beetles sang " All you need is love, ta ra ra ra ra!"
Their love was a worldly love, yours is Godly,
A better song,... "Here is love vast as the ocean.
Loving-kindness as the flood,
When the Prince of Life my ransom.
Shed for me His precious blood."
It goes on to say " Heaven's Peace and perfect justice, kissed a guilty world in love."
Never get bitter.. Get better... Let Christ fill you with that perfect love.

Picking up meds this afternoon.  We can use a drive-thru for prescriptions, and that is better than standing in line.  There is still snow on the ground but this too shall pass.  I had a refreshing walk yesterday all bundled up like it was January.  We are keeping up with the news and pleasantly surprised as to how generous citizens are in helping those less fortunate.  This is a good time for teaching and listening.

Well, well, look who managed to get back in here!  I really wasn't far away, just didn't have much energy (or words) to join in the conversation.  Sorry.  I've been a bit frustrated with my facebook account. The last few daze I've tried to upload photos, access my notifications(I saw 3)and other functions and every thing was blocked for me and I was stuck in limbo.  This morning I decided to try a different browser.  Whatta ya know!!  Things are purring along just fine now.  Guess I shouldn't be so stuck on habit and more open to admitting I just could be wrong once in a while.

I still don't have anything to say worthwhile so maybe I should just mosey on out of here until later.  My daughter has taken to calling me every evening lately.  She is working from home with her job.  So is her daughter, Becky. They are in the same house lately, also have a "home school" 8 year old.  It is a lot of stress, at times, because Karmen is "authority resistant" according to her mother!  Not an easy task to be trying to work and monitor a child's schoolwork at the same time.  I don't envy them at all.  Add to that, they are having to stay inside for the majority of the day.  Only short "necessary" trips out.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

 Happy Thursday, Y'All!

God to see several new posts in here today.  Our Governor has extended the "Stay Home" order until May 3. I hope to goodness they get the guidelines in place for people to go back to work by then.  Staying home is fine for people like us who are retired, but not at all good for young people who need to be earning a living. And I also hope they will figure out a way to let the kids go back to school, before the parents pull their hair out!  (Their own, not the kids'.)  LOL

We are having some nice days, then cold nights.  I had intentions of going for a walk today with the dogs, but got busy in my studio doing a little painting, some framing, some rearranging of things on the walls.  So I didn't go walking.  Need to be getting more exercise!

I'll say goodnight for now, hope to chat with you all tomorrow!

"We are going to receive a Kingdom which cannot be moved, so let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear.
For our God is a consuming fire"
Heb 12.

He is a consuming fire indeed, it is fire that burns up the dross, and the chaff. Fire cleanses, burns up germs, disease. As a young man I used to watch the farmers burn up the stubble fields after harvest, the smoke was seen for miles. If it went across a road then you couldn't see to drive. Then after all disease was burnt the field could then be plowed and another different crop planted.
God also burnt up all offerings made to Him. For they were still unclean, offered by sinful man... Accepted but purified by fire.
Satan and all his helpers will one day be burned in the fire, then at last there will be peace on earth, a new, beautiful, perfect earth, for the old earth too will have been burned up with fire.
Carpe diem. Serve the Lord with gladness, be on fire for Christ!

Greetings Janet There have been a few people joining in with house parties in the UK and being seen miles and miles away from their homes.  Which is contrary to  the guidelines in place.  As long as we all  keep to the guidelines, the sooner rather than the later restrictions might be lifted.  It is the scientists and clinicians, that State Governors take their advice from.  Ellie

Ellie, unfortunately, that isn't always true.  We have some governors here in the US who are so power hungry that they just love to see how much they can bend people to their wills.  There will be more and more protests if this keeps up.  THEY think they know far better than the people themselves, what is good for us.  And all the while, they live their high and mighty lives in their ivory palaces.  It cannot last!

Judy, that song Take Heart is so fitting for today's crisis.  And I love Greater is the One
by Mercy Me, too. I have it on a CD in my car.

I walked about a mile today with the dogs.  It was a lovely day to be out walking, need to do that more. Too easy to get lazy just staying in the house.

Jane!!  So good to see you pop in again!  See?  We don't bite!

Carol, it's nice that you can get your groceries put into your car trunk, and that your son comes and visits in the driveway with you.  I so miss my family.   :'(

Tomorrow I shall do some laundry.  What an exciting life!  :D   But I am very thankful to have laundry machines, hot water and detergent.  I surely wouldn't want to make lye soap, carry and heat water, scrub them on the old rub board and hang them on the fence to dry!  See how easy we have it?  I do remember my mom making lye soap--what a job!  From the time I was old enough to pay attention to such things, we had a wringer washing machine, though.  Memories!

I need to find a good book to read.  And stop watching so much of the news!  :-\

See you all soon!

I came back to say that our next door neighbors had a big party a few nights ago.  They all parked their cars near our house, beside the trees, so they couldn't be seen from the road.  I don't know if they stayed in the cars or not, but they sure played some LOUD music!  And no, I didn't call the cops on them.  They weren't bothering me, so I felt it wasn't my business.

Good Day!  We are one day closer to freedom - I just read an article from a relative of a scientist predicting one more year of safe living before the cure is ready.  We need to Keep on Taking Heart.  We must.

I was in the ER at a fairly new hospital two nights ago.  They treated me so well, I just cannot thank them enough.  Feeling better today and miracle drugs are lessening the pain.  So thankful for world-class health care here.  My worry was mostly for Don as he was with me for hours.  The dear nurse assistant brought him a sandwich and water.

Ellie:  So very nice to see you posting from far away.

Judy:  Love "Take Heart".  You are our cheerleader!

Jane:  Keep on posting even more, we all need this breath of fresh air in our homes.  Bless the grandchildren.  How difficult it must be for parents.

Judy:  Many thanks - you keep us remembering why we are here and how we must give thanks for every little happy spot in life.  Best to John! Thanks for the message from Chris!

Janet:  Please take time for yourself - I know you have so many tasks -

It is a little gesture but I want to tell you - our granddaughter made a basket of little goodies and put a sign out for the UPS or any delivery driver on the block to take a snack with a thanks for their work.  Because of the way they work now, there are many drivers or mail trucks in a week doing their jobs without a word of thanks. --If scientists say this is too early, why don't the politicians listen?  It is really tough on business and losing a job is such a shock and even depressing, especially now.  The recent grads are not finding jobs, we know two who graduated early and there is nothing.

Of course, it had to happen.  There is a rise in crime because some people just have to steal anything they want.

On a thankful note - my electric tea kettle stopped working and Don bought a new one - this one gets hot but the exterior only feels warm.  I appreciate not being singed by getting near it.

Greetings Carol  Far away yes, but with the splendid technology of modern times we are near at the click of a mouse.  Ellie

Greetings Janet  At least 185 countries are affected by Coronavirus.  And the fight against it should be led by the expertise of the scientists and clinicians.  Law makers can only manage the pandemic, by the advice they receive from the scientists and clinicians.  As in most cases, lawmakers are generally lay people with proficiency in the profession they learned prior to becoming law makers.  We here, are people who live on a small island and are told what guidelines we must follow, the same guidelines residents of the UK are informed about. And to stop transmission of Covid-19, the two most important influences to stop it is social distancing between people of 2 metres.  Coupled with the over 70's, we are advised in the UK and the Island here, stay at home.   Ellie

Janet

Carol, sorry to learn you had a necessary trip to the hospital.  Glad you're back home now, and thankful with you for the staff member taking care of Don.  That eased your mind and helps in the healing.  Times are really hard for so many people.

I think the Governor of Michigan will soon be regretting her draconian, and very stupid rules!  The citizens there are rising up in protest, and something's gotta give!

I'm thoroughly disgusted with our governor, too.  She has "ruled" that abortions are "essential and life-affirming", but that all churches must be closed.  Almost immediately, two lawsuits were filed against her for the church closings.  They were using social distancing and all the other rules; still she says they cannot conduct church services.  NOTHING is more vital than our connection to God our Maker!!

Okay, off my soapbox now.  :ticked:   ;D

I have the laundry going and Darrel has returned from a trip to the grocery store.  I told him to wear his mask, and when he got home he said the only ones wearing masks today were elderly people; the checkers and other store workers weren't wearing them.  That surprises me, as about half the people we saw on our last trip to town were wearing masks.  Ours is one of the 24% of counties in the US with NO cases of Covid-19, but I don't want our people to get careless, either.

We are blessed that all our kids and grandkids are still working.  Daughter who is a paralegal is working every other day, as they have a big enough staff in the office that splitting them is the only way to maintain the distancing.  Pilot grandson says the crisis has actually boosted his line of work, as he hauls cargo. He pilots 767s, so they hold a LOT of stuff.  Both granddaughters in law are working from home and eldest daughter's business is rated essential as it's agriculture related (greenhouse and nursery.)  I won't bother you with the rest, but am so happy none have lost their incomes!

If ever there was a time we needed to pray, this is it!  I'm trying to stay in an attitude of prayer, mentioning those on the front lines of this, and especially our President and Vice President, very often. I do not think God is finished with America!!

Do some of you remember Ruth Ann Bice?  She used to post often in the old days.  Anyway, she surprised me with a video phone call this morning!  She is doing well; living in an apartment only two blocks from her daughter, and able to take care of her own needs mostly, so that was good to hear.  Thought you'd like to know, too!

I need to go swap out my laundry and put away the dishes!

Blessings to all.  How are you, Jackie?  Good to see you posting!

"Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with what you have, for He has said" I will never leave you nor forsake you."
So we may boldly say.." The Lord is my Helper, I will not fear what man shall do to me."..Heb. 13.

This passage has encouraged so many of us through the years, it harks back to Genesis 28 v 15.
God's promise to Jacob about the promised land. And everything came to pass just as He did promise, for God is not a man that He should lie. Only humans lie, God cannot lie, and this promise too is being fulfilled as we speak, God is with us and will be with us, even if we forget Him He will not forget us.
We are sealed with the Lord Who is the Spirit for a Eternity, does this give you confidence.. Can you go out today knowing that you are not alone, never alone. Be bold, be strong, and remember Nehemiah 8 v 10, " The joy of the Lord is your strength" The Lord rejoices over His people, and He adds to our number every day.

Good morning everyone. I too have done a few loads of laundry. Yesterday I was blessed with a whole case of Radishes, some green beans and peppers. I have been packing up  one gallon plastic bags and blessing others. 3 of my neighbors, 2 friends from church, and  1 Furry Friend. human.I alway pray that "Lord today  let me be a blessing to someone".

We are doing well. Yesterday a friend an I took our dogs  out to the Empire lakes to walk the trails. There were a lot of other people out there fishing and walking. All social distancing. I didn't see anyone wearing masks. It was so nice to get out and spend some time  talking with a friend.I also visit with a neighbor almost every day  on her patio across the table from her.

In my humble opinion, I don't think the governor of Michigan is being overly cautions about  taking care of her constituents.  Everyone needs to be concerned about their neighbor and stay home. Going back to work when you might be carrying the virus germs is not a very good idea. Some are asymptomatic and can still pass the virus to other. As for the President to call for the people protesting to liberate the state is a dangerous thing to say. I saw pictures of people carrying gun. The precept of violence is a possible  explosion and people getting hurt.  Pay more attention to the Scientists, Doctors and professionals.

Taking a break from washing & ironing.  Also, setting up a list of groceries & other for the store. l They are out of Baking Powder and this is the third week.  Some people go in and grab every piece of a product - it is getting grim out there.  Sad to say.

Janet:  Next time, please send greetings from all of us to Ruth Ann.  We sure do miss her.

Judy:  As always, thank you for the music I am about to click on and thanks to Chris - and to you for posting his uplifting notes.

I do not see a 100% cure/ending for this virus.  There will always be mistakes and lazy people who do not want to listen to safety advice.  We just have to live our own lives with a deeper trust in following our faith.  Still, I do believe there will be a breakthrough in medicine that will find a solution for this virus.  Praying for a newborn baby girl in Minnesota right now - she is beautiful and healthy.  Everyone wants to protect her from any harm so there are lots of prayers for a better future.

Meanwhile, this is a good time to check on friends and family.  Try to call someone you haven't chatted with for some time - they really appreciate this effort.  Especially so with elderly aunties and cousins.

Jane Walker

Okay... I'm back!! :)  I have not been outside my home except to get the mail and, once every couple weeks, to pickup my groceries that have been ordered online.  That's made a bit of a problem for me this morning.

I will need to go over and pick up my groceries this afternoon but my car wouldn't start!!  ??? I figured it was a dead battery, since the car's been sitting there for a couple weeks.  The last time I was out (for my groceries) I needed to have someone jump start my car for me.  This morning I called AAA and got the battery charged.  Hopefully it will still be up and running when I need to go to the store.  I guess the best thing is to go out there and start the car every day and let the motor run for a while to keep the battery charged.  This staying at home thing has it drawbacks, I guess, altho I usually stay home anyway.  Oh, well, we all must find a way to exist during this time.

I "see" Ruth Ann on face book from time to time. Mostly just as she comments on someone's post, tho. She and I had a great visit/conversation, years ago at the Atlanta bash, and a few phone conversations since then, but not lately. She is a great friend, and I miss her.

It's a beautiful sunshiney day here on the Oregon coast so I think I'll just take a stroll out to the porch and enjoy it for a while ... taking my Kindle with me so I can read.

See y'all next time ....

Greetings Marilyn   We do see coverage on the UK news channels about Coronavirus problems in parts of America.  And we are of the same mind that the Governor of Michigan is not being unduly cautious about wanting to take care of her citizens, while Coronavirus is causing such health issues in America and around the world.   We are over seventy, put eleven on that for my age.  And on the Island, we are asked to self-isolate as much as we can and maintain the 2 metres between other people when we have to buy foodstuffs.   75% of our shops are closed and the same percentages of workplaces.   For the reason you mention about someone carrying the virus and having no symptoms.   I have mentioned about parties being ended; in what way can a number of people be 2 metres apart in a lounge in a friend's home? The health guidelines are there to try and protect them and others!    We saw the pictures of people carrying guns, that frightens us!   I will endorse your thoughts in relation to paying attention to Scientists, Clinicians, and the professionals.  In the United Kingdom it is the Scientists, Clinicians and the professionals that advise the Government.

Greetings Carol    Like you, we both are unsure if there will be a 100% cure, then again, so many scientists and many more people in many countries are working on a vaccine; we should put faith in they will find a cure.   There will people who do not listen to safety advice, it could be said, they don't want to be told what is best for them to safeguard their health.   And prayers from both of us for the new born baby girl in Minnesota, for her health and future happiness.  And we all wherever we live, should look out for elderly friends and neighbours.    Ellie

Hello, again, from Oregon's south coast.

I told you before that my daughter was working from home, well, I just received a phone call from her saying she, and all of her co-workers, have been "furloughed"!  She was told it is nationwide for her company, but that doesn't help a whole lot.  So this puts our nation's unemployment numbers significantly higher. They're telling her "until mid-June" but it will all depend on when the VA begins to treat the "non-essential" medical needs of veterans.  Her work is in co-ordination with the VA in securing medical appointments for veterans. So you can see it is a very big IF in all cases.  ???

I went out to pick up my groceries yesterday. That's it for my ventures forth into the outside world for at least a couple more weeks. I don't mind because I am a stay at home sort of person anyway.  As long as I can pay my bills and communicate with family and friends online I'm okay. I can even shop online if I have such a desire.  :)

Times are tough right now but that's when the tough manage to rise above it. I'll be off now and see what else I can get myself into before the day is over.  :D

I had been waiting until seeing some posts on here before I posted again.  Now that you have almost all been here, I will just say "Hello!  Good to "see" you all, and hope you all continue to do well."

I did convey your best wishes to our Ruth Ann.  It was a video chat, and she looked good!

I have a wonderful friend on FaceBook. Michael says it like it is.

Written by Michael Strickland

HEAVY DUTY DOSE OF REALITY! I have been trying to communicate this reality to Christians for many years. In the New Testament there WERE NO church buildings. They had church like the Chinese have it today ... hidden. If each individual Chinese Christian doesn't keep his own personal fire on the altar, he will not survive. Pastor may be in prison next week, and we may not see him for 3 years. As Paul did, many pastors around the globe in persecuted countries work to earn their own living, while secretly meeting and sharing God's Word.

Michael Jordan
19 April at 09:40
Do you know why Christians are responding to the stay at home orders like they have?

It's because we have created a dependency on a religious system rather than a dependency on God. We have gone to "church" for years and still most don't know that they were created to be the Church. They find their identity in a building with 4 walls rather than finding their identity in the Almighty. They limit Gods ability to move and work to the confines of their church building.

Many are nothing more than Christian parasites feeding off the knowledge possessed by the pastor while never studying, learning, or getting a walk with God for themselves. Many pastors feed continually off the people's wallets bleeding the church members dry. So when anything such as these stay at home orders occur both go scrambling.. no one in the pews mean less offerings.. no one in the pews means if you wanna hear from God you gotta put in the effort yourself..

This virus has done much to expose the state of professing believers and the state of the "church" and it's not good. Many of those clamoring for their 4 walls will be the first to take the Mark cause they are more dependent on their system then they are on God.

"Now the God of peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the Blood of the Everlasting Covenant. Make you perfect in every good work, to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory for ever and ever Amen."
Heb 13.

The God of peace.. Yes God is a God of peace. He is always at peace. God never loses His temper, He is always at peace, He makes His decisions calmly. No matter how much the heathen rage against Him, and shake their fists at Him, He just laughs, it tells us so in Psalm 2 v 4.
But when God moves.. Then look out , nothing can stop Him doing what He wants to do.
But God is a God of peace, and wills and desires that we too know His peace. Jesus told us.. My peace I give you, my peace I leave with you.. so while all around us is in turmoil we still should have that inner peace which is more precious than gold, nothing can rob us of that gift of peace, it calms us in every situation.. Saying... Never fear child I am still in control.
Go this day, to do whatever you have to do, but before you begin just be still before Him and ask that you be kept in peace. It will flood your soul and remove all fear.. Just trust Him.

While I agree with Judy's friend about the CHURCH (us) vs the church (building), I still feel the need to see/be with my Christian friends.  It's good to have all our fancy electronic gadgets, but nothing beats face to face conversations.  I dislike texting because nobody seems to call anymore just to chat and catch up as friends.  Convenient, yes, but not satisfying.  Just my opinion, of course.  So I will be very happy when the lockdown ends.

So much sadness, so much loss.  Now the huge problem with the oil prices.  And we lost a good friend of many years a few days ago...  Problems with how to conduct funeral services.  When this is over, I will plan a memorial for John.  So much to think about.

What a sweet picture in Random Images today, of Jeanne Lee with her mother!

I finished, matted and framed a watercolor yesterday, and am pretty pleased with how it turned out.  If interested, you can see it on my Facebook page.

I hope more of you come in and post today and let us know how you're doing.  We miss you when you're not here; we are such a small group anymore as it is.

Time to go pick up our lunches from the Senior Center.  We drive up and they bring them out to the car!

Blessings!

Greetings Janet    I agree with you, seeing and being with my Christian friends has at all times been a must for me.  Good old fashioned banter beats looking at a smartphone screen and texting!   And the more we text is the less we will phone family and friends.  We watch on a Sunday a BBC programme called Songs of Praise.    It is a BBC religious programme that has presented Christian hymns sung in churches of varying denominations from around the UK since 1961.    I have tried to convert old Isle of Man videos to a form I can send to family and friends today.  Using a splendid bit of computer software 😊    Ellie

Something to remember ladies, this is not forever, it is for our protection and safety.  If we remember back to stories from Russia the Christians had to stay in their homes to worship God. That is what the Chinese Christians and Middle Eastern Christians have to do to this day.
Perhaps God is preparing us to be worshipping in our homes alone with only code words to identify ourselves as Christian.  It is a scary place out there  when we see Christians persecuted daily for their faith.
I have heard Christians say even recently, "Oh that will never happen in North America! (US and Canada)" How can we be so blind?  Donald Trump, love him or hate him, is a man for a season.  He is slowing down the one world government, which our leader is pushing.  I have a friend who is not by all accounts born again. She is speaking up against the O.W.G., and how W.H.O. figures in to it. Trudeau our PM is pushing for all he is worth to make Canada a dictatorship.  That my friends is how close we are to the OWG or One World Government.

Janet

Ellie, I love Christian music, especially the old hymns of the faith that I learned as a small child.  I can still sing every word of those, without a book.  I love praise music, too, but prefer a mix.

I went for a longer walk with the doggies today, other than that, have been lazy.  I don't like me much when I'm too lazy.  :-\

Thin k I'll go see what I can find to make for supper.  (We have dinner at noon here in the country. ;))

Janet...
... if i didn't have my MS i would walk and walk amongst our singing and flying ( at freedom ) birds..just hearing our  bird-life singing gives us the hope that life is still very much out there, and gives us some hope... Listening and being amongst  our birds is what gives me my most pleasure...

Janet...I agree with you, we in UK have ALWAYS had our church doors open to outsiders to step inside as and when needed...I am sure they would still want to be doing this but it is our government who are saying no due to this distancing, re church services, which i understand but i still feel that doors should be left open for those who need to step inside and pray for whatever they personally need to be praying for...even though i remember my late father always telling me, one doesn't need a church to pray to God in, we can pray anywhere, ( father was referring to when he was on the front-line during WW2 ) yes of course we can, but we do feel more protected, closer to God when when we are given the chance of stepping inside a church as and when a church is available..

...I too, like all our world are praying for our days back of normality, that this C-Virus will go away as quickly as it came but, i am also asking this question of why did it come in the first place, what is its reason, is it because our world is overflowing with humans, our world overflowing population, and it needs to get the numbers down - or is it because we need to be taught a valid lesson, such as we have been slowly destroying our planet, or, to never take anything in this world for granted, because this will now change everyone, our world as we once knew it will never be the same again, may even be an improvement for us lucky and blessed ones who survive it, as time go by...
Our God is the only One who can answer this question..our world is in His hands only..

From Chris
" My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into various temptations, knowing this, that the testing of your faith works patience." James 1.

Being tempted is not the same as sinning, you might look at something or someone and be tempted.. Then say.. No it's not right, I'm not doing that. You were tempted.. Tested, but you resisted.. Our Saviour had to resist Satan three times in the wilderness. And every time he answered with scripture. He did not "bind" Satan nor use any of the other nonsense that some people today do.
He simply came back at His enemy with the most fitting scripture for the temptation.
We are sometimes very remiss here, forgetting that the Word of God is quick, powerful, sharp as a two edged sword. Separating bone and marrow.
Let's pray that if we are tested today, God will drop the right scripture into our mind.
But remember this, usually for scripture to come to mind we have to know our bible!

Good morning!  It's a beautiful day here in my little corner of Kansas.

Jackie, thanks for your notes to me.  I love to hear the birds sing, too.  Since there are few trees here, I don't get to hear them nearly as much as I would like, but it's always so cheerful and uplifting to hear them singing!  As you said, it surely does give us hope, and a feeling that life will go on.

As for the why of this awful C-virus....I don't pretend to know the reason, but to reduce the world's population, I think we can skip that one.  God loves every person on this planet, and HIs plans for us are always for our good, never to harm.  Now there are people among us who strongly advocate the "reduction of populations" (murder is what I call it) through abortion, letting very poor populations starve or whatever, all while pretending to do everything to help.  Hypocrites!  Bill Gates is chief among them.  I believe that while God did NOT send this plague, He does have vital, valuable lessons for us to learn through it.  I am praying that I can learn those lessons, and learn them well.

Also, I am praying that we, as citizens, stand up and demand our freedoms back, at whatever cost, and not let those who are power hungry keep us under the rules implemented for "our good".  This is supposed to be temporary!  So let the people go back to work!

I am heartened to see that more suits have  been filed by churches against some of the governors' draconian laws against them, even while they were carefully following all the guidelines as to numbers, distancing, etc.
God instituted the church, and He promised that 'the gates of hell shall not stand against it.'  So let God be true and every man a liar.

Like you said, our God is in control.  He's got this, as people are fond of saying these days.  And as long as we look to Him for every answer, trust in His love and care, we will be okay.  God bless you and continue to listen to our happy feathered friends!

All is well, I could not get in here yesterday and today went well after I signed in again.

Judy:  Thank you for the song "Remember".

We are noticing a change in our lives and some neighbors and family say the same thing happens.  All of us feel so fatigued in the afternoon and can nap or feel the need of a nap.  I believe it is an inner sadness of missing closeness of family and friends.  We are making more phone calls to each other -

Jackie:  We are seeing different birds here and that is unusual.

My goodness!  I had a rough night, and didn't realize it was nearly 9 before I got up this morning.  Guess it doesn't matter, can't go anywhere, anyway.

Carol, I am feeling that same lethargy and sadness.  And I think you have pin pointed the cause.  We must just keep praying and trusting God that this too shall pass.

I just called the monument company from whom we bought Beth's (and John's) headstone, to ask them to come engrave his final date on it.  They want $217.00 for that!  GRRR.  He hadn't enough money even to bury him, and we understood that little thing was included in the price we paid for the stone.  So many things to make me feel even worse.  I will be so relieved when all this is taken care of and I won't have to be trying to remember every detail that needs doing.

I need to go back and listen to the songs Judy posted yesterday.  Thanks, Judy.

I need some birdsongs to listen to!

I came back to say thank you to Judy, and to Jacqueline for the lovely music, scenery and birdsongs.  I enjoyed!

<3 Rain on the Oregon coast this morning so no birds singing. (I guess they didn't hear about "singing in the rain" :D) so it is really pleasant to hear the Nightingale Serenade.  Thanks Jacqueline!

I can completely agree with you, Carol and Janet, about the lethargy and "need" for a nap.  I also have been feeling that way for a while.  I put it down to my age and the fact that I live alone, but maybe there's a bit of sadness creeping in as well.  :-\  Yesterday was the anniversary of Joy's birthday. Whatever it is, we can know that this, too, shall pass.

My granddaughter, Becky, tells me that Karmen is exhibiting signs of "childhood depression" too. :(  It has a lot to do with not being with her friends, and teacher, at school.  But it is also the case of her never having a place to call her own.  They have been knocking about all her life.  First on the streets of Chicago, then except for a brief time a year ago in an apartment, just staying here and there with one relative or friend and another.  I was able to help Becky with the deposit on a two bedroom condo into which she hopes to move soon.  Hopefully that will help Karmen feel more secure in her young life.  Becky has a good paying job now and, although working from home, she can look forward to better things in her life.  She tells me she is "making a brand new start on life" and is determined to succeed.  I've heard that before and always she seems to get blindsided with either job loss or injury or just plain depression.  I'm grateful she can still come to me for help. She always has good intentions that "this is the last time" but she also is suffering with ADHD so has trouble keeping her head straight and on task.  She has a boyfriend now who, Dottie tells me is a really great guy and good at keeping her on track.  He is a coworker of hers so that helps, too.

Gotta go now  things to do .....  I'll be back later.

"If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, that gives all men liberally, and doesn't chastise us for asking, and it shall be given him." James 1.
When it comes to understanding scripture it is essential to have Godly wisdom. That's why we are told that the natural man receives nothing, he does not have the Spirit. In Proverbs we are told to get wisdom and with wisdom get understanding!
Wisdom, yes.. But we need to understand how and when to use that gift of wisdom.
In Proverbs again we realise that when God is talking about Wisdom He is talking about the Holy Spirit personified.
Wisdom was there when the Earth and Heavens were created.
God absolutely delights in the person who asks for wisdom to read and understand our Bible, a hungry heart and mind shall receive as much wisdom as he needs , this is God's desire, to give us a hunger for Him and His word. " You have not because you ask not" is very real here, that's why you will sometimes meet Christians who have never progressed very much, they are biblically illiterate , we need enquiring hearts and minds folks, if we want to grow up!
Ask today for wisdom to understand and you will never be fooled by false teachers and preachers.
God bless your weekend.

Jackie: Thank you for the site.

Judy:  This is a wonderful place to come and forget about the sadness.

It still seems so odd not to get up and go on a Sunday morning.  Many times, we had conflicts but the church has the same service on Saturday nights so we always had a choice. Also, because of Don's hearing problem, he preferred the quiet Sat. service.

You can laugh at my baking attempt.  For years, my trusty bread maker has been so nice but it has turned on me.  This last loaf looks like a craggy stone.  I cannot find yeast in any store because the stores let people buy the entire lot.  So, I substituted baking powder (after waiting weeks for that to arrive) and found later that I need to have something like vinegar to activate the powder.  I am going to use another recipe and see what happens.  This loaf could be a new doorstop.

Animals are moving into the city - a herd of elk was seen walking a main street just north of Denver.  Now, we are used to seeing the in the hills but to walk right into town is another thing - miles away.

The birds singing music background is so very pleasant.  Thanks all!

" Blessed is the man that endures temptation and testing, for when he is tried, he shall receive the Crown of Life, which the Lord has promised to them that love Him". James 1

What wonderful words, what a wonderful promise!
And we know that we will never be tested beyond what we can stand.
And why do we receive a Crown.. Because the Lord has promised it to them that love Him!
It all works together.. If you love Him you will endure, if He has your heart and mind.. You will endure, you will never want to let Him down, as Job exclaimed. "Yet though He slay me I shall praise Him.." there are people today living double lives... Going to church but living sinfully, don't be that person. Come to Jesus Christ.. Confess it all. Begin again, He freely forgives the earnest sinner, who cries out for forgiveness. Begin again. With a clean slate, all your past wiped out, then you shall endure temptation.. You will have the Holy Spirit to help and strengthen you, that Crown will be yours, is any temptation worth the loss of that Crown, Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of soup, and afterwards wept for what he had done, but it was too late that Crown had gone.
Will you give it all up for Christ.. For that Crown?
Someone needs this word today.

Feeling sad today as we plan a little memorial service for John tomorrow as we inter his ashes next to our Beth.

I painted last evening, a lighthouse scene on the cover of a smallish journal.  I rather like how it turned out.

Carol, love your "rock bread" story.  If they could make stone soup, why not rock bread to go with it?
We're learning more and more to go without bread.  Picked up meals from Senior Center today--chicken strips, sweet potato fries, cauliflower with cheese, fruit cup.  Pretty good!  Filled the empty space, anyway.

I need to get my thoughts together, as Pastor asked me to make a few remarks about John tomorrow.

Blessings to you all!

"Let no man say that he is tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted to do evil, and He temps no man.
But every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his lust and enticed.
When lust is conceived it brings forth sin, and at the end. Death." James 1.

God cannot be tempted by anything.
He is Perfect and sinless.
We on the other hand are sinful.
We are told to put to death the old man. So if we don't, we have trouble ahead, whatever we feed grows stronger, feed a pup and it will soon be a large fully grown dog, capable of great damage. The larger the dog the more capable of damage, we don't tame the flesh. We put it to death.
Lust for sex, lust for money, lust for power, lust to be number one among your peers, any lust is bad, the Cross is there to crucify the flesh. The Old man is not dead only put under, don't dare wake him.

"Beloved, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to be angry. For one's anger does not work the Righteousness of God." James 1.

I watched a programme the other night, and I was amazed at how much people were all talking at the same time and insisting on having their say.
So in the end of the chaos, nothing was accomplished, that's the world today, lots of talking heads, very little wisdom, and few new, good ideas.
Scripture tells us to listen, take it in, think about it, ponder it, then bring it before our Lord, then make a decision. The Godly person does not jump in feet first and cause more trouble.
Proverbs tells us not to listen to the first complainant and take his side until we have heard the second complainant also. A wise man once said that there are two sides to every story.. then there is the truth!
We need the wisdom of Solomon today in this complicated world in which we live, and a greater than Solomon tells us to ask for Wisdom from above, without doubting that we shall be given it.
Anger without good reason does not bring God any glory, we are told not to keep company with any brother who cannot control his temper.
All the good guidance that we need to live in this world is in our bibles,
Brought to life by the Holy Spirit we shall grow.
