JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Greetings Everyone Today the Island has seen a splendid sunny day with sunny spells.  We had a day at home, though I like travelling, there is no place like home.  Marilyn did I read you have a spur or is it another painful heel complaint called Plantar Fasciitis.

Marilyn

Ellie it is a spur and oh so painful.

Greetings Everyone  A splendid day here with sunshine, they say the worlds looks a brighter place with the sun out.   Mondays for me is a day for cleaning around the home, washing clothes and generally seeing to housework that needs doing.  My Mother was the same as probably her Mother did the same on Mondays.  Ell

Janet

We made the fourth trip to Garden City today ti "The Phone Doctor" and I now have yet another iPhone.  I'm so tired of phone problems!  Sincerely hoping this one works properly, as we are leaving on another trip (to Maine this time) in 10 days.

Extreme heat and humidity here today; hope it's more comfortable where you are!

Greetings Janet  Enjoy your trip to Maine in ten days time. There is much more mobile phones have on them with Apps have on them now, with more technology it could mean more problems.

Greetings One and all  It is a long time since I heard that expression.  We have a sunny day on the Isle of Man, not been out yet, unless you call outside the front door going out  :)

Janet

I'm about ready to throw this expensive phone as far as I can send it!  :ticked:   I have one moe idea, then I just don't know!  Keeps losing all my passwords.  Grrrr!  Bring back the old-time telephones!!

Today, we have a man doing repairs on the ceiling of our laundry room--water damage done because of the big hail storm that totaled our roof.  Have another guy coming to give us estimate on that soon. It's metal--they will pay to tear the whole thing off and replace it, but we think we will have it coated instead.  Much less disruption doing that, and it's guaranteed for at least 20 years--that will take us to near 100 years old.  Should be long enough!

I need to call for chiropractor appointments for both of us, so we'll be in shape for that trip!

Janet: We went to Maine one year in the late month of September. It was beautiful and people in small towns were so friendly.  We rented a car in Boston - terribly tough driving there in a driving rain but we made it.  Sorry for all the hail damage.  We had to put in two roofs but nothing leaked.  It seems to be more dangerous now.

Here,I was able to fix a waterproof protection for the surgery on my neck and enjoyed a quick shower.  Two more full weeks to go and the bandage will be off. Meanwhile, Don is helping so much with changing of the bandage.

Granddaughter just graduated from the University and has accepted a job in the Tech Center of Denver.  It sounds so interesting - way beyond any of our technology.  Her drive from home will really be too long - we want her to stay here with us and take time in looking for a roommate  &  apartment.  It is so expensive now - too many people moving here & gridlock traffic.

Janet:  We are so hot here, setting records  in heat.  Cannot believe they played football last night and the Broncos took a licking from the San Fran team.

Six of us in total (my church friends) celebrates our birthdays with a brunch and we gathered at a neighbors house.  I asked only for some daily bible studies if they had extras and now have night for quite some time.  Love those girls!   An older one I don't know really well has memory issues and she asked me at least 8 times (What happened to your neck?).  She has a full time caregiver.  Otherwise, she was just cheery and talkative.

Friends are blessings.

Carol

I really do not like my newer HP laptop computer - it is hard to type on these keys.   Slow to start - a real pain.

Greetings Janet I put all my passwords on a Microsoft Word document, then store it in a folder and keep it on a memory stick.  I now cannot lose a password and it is safe on the memory stick.  For the last four or five years, I have used an IPhone, I find them easy to use.    And I used to use Windows based laptops, but the Macbook Air is splendid and much more reliable than windows based products.

Jacqueline

The book i ordered from Amazon came this morning...by Dr. Chauncey Crandall... Touching Heaven.
Janet, thank you for your recommendation...i am sure this book will be a big help to me..

Janet

You're welcome, Jackie.  I have so enjoyed that book; still haven't quite finished but must give it back to my friend tomorrow, as her son wants to read it.  I will order another for myself.  (Reason it's taking me so long to read is that the print is pretty light, and with the MD, my eyes cannot read it without bright sunlight on the pages.  But I'm so happy I can still read!!
I hope you enjoy the book and that it helps you.

Carol, we're going on a bus to Maine, with people from Hugoton--in fact, they have filled two buses already.  I wish it were later in the year, so the leaves would be turning.  Glad you managed a shower--I know that felt wonderful!

I have stayed busy all day and now my back is hurting.  Grandson wants me to come to Moscow tonight to see if they can help me with the iPhone (now the third one, still problems)  Toni has a Mac, so do I, so I'm really hoping they can help me.

Ellie, I have passwords written down, but when the phone loses them, if I put them back in, it will now accept them. Frustration!!!

I'm going to rest a bit and see if my back will stop hurting.

Manana!

Greetings Janet  I have never had problems with Iphones, Android mobile phones I find not easy to use.  Do you use fingerprint recognition on your IPhone?

Marilyn

I had a long post and lost it. Be back later.

This morning I will be going to my ALZ support group, this afternoon I take Keith to see the surgeon.  His hernia has come back bigger than before the hernia surgery. K is refusing to have another surgery or  hospital stay so we will ask about getting a hernia belt, which I don't think he will  wear very often. However if the hernia breaks through there will  be all that  stuff pouring out in to  his gut. I  have told K that if that happens he will likely  end up a dead man.

This evening is the first night of his 55th high school reunion. Tomorrow night is the big dinner at the casino. So today is a busy day. The caregiver will come tomorrow to make sure he is clean shaven for the dinner, I will make him shower in the morning.

The heel spur is very painful and it is most of the time hard for me to  walk, but I have still taken Freckles for at least 2 per day. I am going to see if I can get in to the podiatrist next week instead of waiting until Sept 4. I do NOT look forward to any kind of surgery for the spur  which could be inevitable. K is no help all all and can't follow directions very well. He gets too confused  with the directions.

Oh the life of a caregiver. NOT!!!!

Greetings Everyone  A very wet day here on the Island, but I went over to the West of the Island to visit family.  Splendid to see family and have a lovely chat.

Sorry Marilyn to read that the spur is causing you lots of pain, until you see the Podiatrist, can you wear something to help when walking.  And sorry to her Keith's hernia is causing him problems.  Thinking of you both.

Greetings Everyone  It rained most of the afternoon yesterday and overnight on the Island, but as I type now at 2.50pm, the sun is out.

Janet

Boy, things are happening around our house! We had hail some time ago, but didn't think our roof was damaged. Darrel made his living using ladders for many years, but doesn't feel safe on them any more, so didn't climb up to check it.  When our insurance agent came, he got up there and looked and told us our roof Anyway, things have moved rapidly--already got the hole in laundry room ceiling repaired and ceiling painted, have hired a roofer to apply foam coating and then impervious coating on the roof, and the guys are here now, caulking the leaks and getting ready to power wash the roof. We were lucky to catch them when they had a few free days, so they will start applying the stuff on Monday.  This was our choice rather than tearing off the entire roofs and replacing with more metal, and is guaranteed for 20 years.  By that time we will both be 100, so should last us!

I'm attempting to pack for the Maine trip, but keep getting interrupted.  And a bit ago someone from church called asking me to make a big Jello salad for a funeral on Saturday...always something!

Marilyn, I hope Keith is aware enough to enjoy his class reunion, and that your heel will allow you to have a good time as well.

I have a short window of time before appointments this afternoon,
so I'm going to work on my packing some more.

Wishing you a a blessed day!

Greetings Everyone  Apart from a hairdressers appointment this morning, I have stayed home, as we have a Festival of Motor Cycling around the famous TT course this week and next.  Practices from last Saturday and the races are supposed to start tomorrow.  There might have to b more practices tomorrow, because there has been wet days when the racing bikes could not go out and practice.

Not sure Janet why your message is marked with a line through the text.  Ell

Finally, a cooler day and tomorrow temperature will rise to 95 F.  Ugly hot for this kind of year and usually an afternoon storm somewhere.  Our middle son is out buy some pain lotion for Don - Don's is having severe leg pain.  He has a consultation scheduled with the VA in a while but we do not expect them to act fast and give him a shot in the leg area.  Most likely another time for the actual pain killer.

I keep working away on sorting things for donations and going to the sewing machine to make little purse tissue holders (those holders are for the church craft sale.  It must be over 30 by now.  Easy Peasy!

Our granddaughter will begin a new job in the Tech Center on Monday.  She will have to move from home as that is a long freeway drive.  We have offered our place until she finds a place and roommate.  We think she will tire of that horrible highway clog really fast.

Janet

I hope I don't get the strikeout lines this time!

Carol, sorry to hear of Don's latest pain.  My friend Dee has such awful cramps in her feet/legs, especially at night.  Says she is up every hour walking them out and putting on pain remedies.  I'll bet that granddaughter doesn't enjoy driving in such traffic.  I couldn't do it!

Only four days now before we leave for Maine!  Wish I knew if it will be hot there or cold!  We will take light jackets, at least.

We had the annual Rendezvous With the Arts at the Main Artery last night.  It was so much fun, and we had a great turnout, which was nice.

There surely aren't many of us posting in here anymore. I miss the others, especially Larry, who rarely missed a day.

Carol

I miss Larry's posts too.  I hope Scott will check in here and let us know how Pat is doing these days.

Jackie:Wishing you well and courage as you are living a different life now.  Friends are so important - I hope you nurture those connections. Often, friends want to help but they are not sure of what to offer. Good wishes to you.

Janet: I do hope you find a phone that works and is easy to understand.

Greetings Everyone  It seems quiet on the site these past few days.  I have been busy since I last posted, visiting family in the Island, that is hubby's side of the family.  Ell  /size]

Janet

Oh, boy!  Monday already, which means only two days until we leave!  I did finish my packing yesterday, except for the last-minute things like my makeup.

The guys who are doing our roofing were to be here at 9:00, but just called to tell me that 40 MPH winds are predicted for today, and are already picking up, so if weather report is favorable tomorrow, they will be here.  Since they are spraying lots of material, they cannot work in high winds!

Time for me to be about my chores.  We did go to the gym today!

Carol

I really love mornings in Colorado and now the temperatures are finally showing some cooling.

Don has charge of replacing my neck bandage every two days - next week this will be removed and stitches removed. I can't wait.  There will be a scar but at least there was no cancer.

Janet: I am getting excited about your trip - I hope you can see some colorful trees.

Judy and John:  Has school started?  It began mid-August here.  The high school band practiced earlier than regular class.  Is John still driving the bus?

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  Not long finished a quiz for where we live.  Splendid that I was able to convert youtube videos to mp3 format, then using a mp3 cutter to cut the part of the song I want, without the title being played.

JudyB

We have one more week before school starts. I will be driving this year as well.  Last week and it looks like this week John is driving a "water truck".  He has to spread water on road construction sites.  13 hour days and he is feeling it.  He was called by our friend's son to see if he could help out.  On Friday we head to Sudbury to take our friend.  Lloyd has 2 broken fingers due to a farm accident.  He is one determined man and being over 80 he has our admiration!

The weather has turned.  Cold nights and hot days.  This makes sleeping easier, however with our schedule we are both quite tired.

God is good, meeting our needs often before we know them.  I think of Paul as he wrote the letter to the Philippines. He was in prison in Rome and in doing so was praising God.  In all things he sets such a wonderful example for us.

Have a great day folks!

Carol

Greetings Everyone   After a cloudy start to the day, sunshine here now.  Splendid, as the racing could get under way around the TT course, this time of the year it is not the TT though, but the Festival of Motorcycling.

I thought this a splendid quote from President Harry S Truman  'How do you live a long life? "Take a two-mile walk every morning before breakfast."
