JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I see I have been among the missing for a few days.  Life gets complicated at times, doesn't it?

I finally finished editing the book I was working on for a fellow painter--what a job!  1118 pages, with an average of 50 to 75 corrections needing made on EACH page!  I'm so relieved to have that finished...at least until he hands me his final chapter, acknowledgements, dedication, etc.  I told him I think it's much too long for most people to even want to read, and how he could easily shorten it by half, but he likes the long word count.  So we shall see.....

This is fair week here in Grant County, and my last year to serve as Supt. of the Art Dept.  I went by this morning for entry cards and fair book and told them it's my last year.  They weren't happy to hear that!

I'm so sorry Larry feels his life is out of his control now.  He's such a dear man, and a wonderful friend.
I have been praying for a much better report, and shall continue to lift him before our Mighty Father.

Judy, thank you for being vulnerable and posting about your family.  God never fails!  If we can only trust Him enough to put our loved ones into His hands, He will give a good outcome.  So glad things have been--and are--turning around for you!  (((Hugs)))

Jackie, I hope you are doing well.  Good to see you posting.

Carol, sorry about your leg, and Don's hearing aids. Hope you get the machine problems sorted out!  I have been having phone problems for months; finally upgraded to iPhone 8 Plus a week or so ago, and am still trying to sort that out. Passwords, don't you love them?  NOT! I still cannot get my email on the phone.  Good thing I have a computer!

Marilyn, hoping you get a good report from the doctors on your test.

Today I'm going to get my fair entries ready.  I had decided not to enter anything this year; but I haven't missed a year doing that since  was 18, and that's a long time.  So I decided to go ahead and enter stuff, since I have to be out there anyway!  Why not?  ;)

Jane, it's always good to read your posts!  Keep it up, girl!

I will write Larry an email today!!

This is a VBS week at one of the sister churches.  I am taking Ivy every day , she is staying with me for the week.

Jackie thank you for the info on Larry.

Larry if you come to CP know you are prayed for.

It is so easy for us to loose our JOY.  Someone says something that hurts, and the JOY is gone.  When this happens turn to the LORD. He alone is our JOY and Strength.
Reminds me of the chorus we sang as children.

The Joy of the LORD is my strength
The Joy of the LORD is my strength
The Joy of the LORD is my strength
The Joy of the LORD is my strength

HE gives me Living Water and I thirst no more
HE gives me Living Water and I thirst no more
HE gives me Living Water and I thirst no more
HE gives me Living Water and I thirst no more

You know it is sad that we as adults forget these treasures we once loved!

Hi Everyone, I am waiting for the Garage to call me to tell me my car is ready with all brand new tires. They will have to come after me to take me to pick it up. It has been a long day of waiting.

I did do the vacuuming as soon as I got back home this morning and I have taken Freckles for 3 walks already 8666 steps, 4 miles total. Keith is doing OK and I haven't heard any results  from the ultrasound tests.

Judy:  You made me think of " got the Joy Joy Joy Joy - down in my heart, down in my heart."  I can only remember bits of it - have not heard that one for years.

Our middle son came for a visit bringing a therapy dog (Lola) a small Golden Retriever) rescue.  Lola came right to each of us and snuggled close - she has the sweet instinct of caring.  She belongs to our daughter who lent her dog to aid her brother through some stress.

I bought corn from a good farm in Colorado and we are having that for dinner.  Nice and fresh, the way we used to have it in Minnesota - straight from the farm.  Last evening was the twice monthly quilters meeting here.  I made a pumpkin bar recipe with a cream cheese frosting - then forgot to serve the ice cream/sherbet.  With 9 of us, the chatter was pretty lively.  Don always plays cribbage those night with two neighbors.

Another afternoon storm is coming - we are in the normal summer pattern.  We try to make appointments before 3 PM because hail is too common.

Janet:  Yes, some of us are still "out' here.  I am into such a daily routine these days - I had to add daily exercise to stop a pain - it is pain to take the time.  Wouldn't you think housework would be enough?   Apparently not.  Our calendars are being filled with doctor appointments, etc. - not what we want but we have no choice.

Judy:  I realized that I was griping when I have no cause and right this minute I am going to look for JOY - there is JOY if I look around and give THANKS - ---Thank you for reminding me.

Carol

Yesterday was free coffee at Kneaders - a bakery company that closes their doors every Sunday.  Free for veterans.  We like to give them some business and a group of us gals always go there for our birthdays too.   :coffee:

Janet:  Glad to read your editing job is over - that sounds like a lot of time.

Mama Robin is really vocal this morning. This goes on for hours - I cannot see the nest.

Tomorrow is a first for me - a physical therapy worker will make me exercise - not a fan on this at all. Apparently, the list on two pages of different exercises I have now isn't enough?   At least my health care is really close - Don has to go to the VA and that ends up being a full day with heavy traffic.

Janet

Good morning!!  I was up for a few hours in the very early morning, then went back to bed and was able to sleep--until nearly 9 o'clock!  Must be a record late rising for me!  I don't have to be out at the fair this morning, so am catching up here at home. The free barbecue is tonight, and our Citizen of the Year, Larry, is being assigned a special table at the barbecue.
He  came by the Art Dept. to tell me that and that he can invite those he wants to share his table.  He invited Darrel and me!  He and Darrel were classmates in high school.

Kneaders sounds like a place I would really like, Carol. I hope you don't find the exercises too difficult! We are really liking the Hempworx CBD oil for all our aches and pains.  It cannot hurt you, has no hallucinogens, and is now the only thing I use when the pain overtakes me.

I think I remember all the words to every song I learned as a child, both the little fun ones and the old hymns of the faith.  I love to sing, though that isn't one of the things I was given a talent to do.  But God tells us to sing, and that He inhabits our praises---so, sing I will!  ;)

Marilyn, hoping to hear of a good report.

Has anyone heard  from Larry?  I have gotten a few messages via Messenger, but they do not sound like him, so I'm wondering.....

Jane, may I entice you to come in and chat a bit?

Time to run!

MESSAGE FROM LARRY'S SON, SCOTT

Mary Ann,

This is Scott, Larry's son.  I believe I have written you in the recent past, but not sure.  I am going through his communications to let everyone know his status.

Unfortunately his status has not improved and in some ways is worsening. I know he would not want anyone worrying about him so I though I'd drop you a line so you might post something on his behalf.

At this point I do not know when he will be able to return to his online presence. The sooner the better.

If he helps me remember, as he did yesterday, I will keep you updated on his condition.

Thank you,
Scott

Jackie, thanks so much for posting Scott's update on our dear Larry.

Scott, thank you for the update, and please do keep us informed as often as you can.  Also, please tell your Dad that we love and miss him, and are praying for better times for him, as well as your Mom, you and all the family.  We appreciate this so much!

Thank you Jackie, I have been thinking about Larry since the last post.  Jackie is there a way you could get Scott's email address for me?  I would like to contact him to see if there is anything I can do.  Please and thank you.

We are in a heat wave. John is working on hay the last field is about done.  Our neighbour Lloyd is bailing as fast as the tractor can go......  When this job is done, we will be able to breathe again.  Constantly in prayer for the rain to stay away.

GOt to run a car just drove into the drive!

Jane Walker

Hello!  For some obscure reason I have not received notifications lately.  Today was the first one and it was of Marilyn's post.  ???

Anyway, I'm here now and have caught up with y'all.  I'm concerned about Larry, too.  I'm glad Scott was able to give us an update.  And thankful to Jackie for relaying it from S&F.

My daughter and her two daughters, along with Karmen, drove to Spokane yesterday to retrieve Bladen (Jessica's boy) who has been visiting his father's family.  Dot called me about 1 o'clock and they were "stranded" at a McDonald's where they had made the exchange of Bladen. She said when they had laid the car key on the table, but when they were ready to leave it was gone.  They went out and tore the car apart looking for the key to no avail.  They had noticed a woman sitting nearby and she was now outside sitting under a tree across the parking lot.  A man came up to them (who had observed the whole scenario) and offered to take them to the Honda dealer to get another key made.  He didn't realize that the car had to go to the dealer for that.  Anyway, he said he was a police officer (off duty) and he also had the feeling that woman had taken the key and was just waiting for them to "go home and get another key" then she could steal their car! He said it happens all the time.

So, Dot has to have her car towed to the Honda dealer for $90 and pay for another key to be made for $110. Needless to say none of them were terribly happy.  They were all tired and sticky from the long drive and had planned to go to a friend's house to freshen up before the main reason for being there (aside from getting Bladen).  A childhood friend of Jessica and Becky recently died and they are going to scatter her ashes.  This girl died from liver and kidney failure because she had been an alcoholic and drug addict for years. Such a sad waste of a young life.

I will send her the link, i am sure she could create a new password if the forum will allow her to do so...

To all who knew Paul Halbach:  I got word late last night that he has passed away. He struggled with leukemia in the last few years.  Please pray for his family as they deal with his death.

Carol

Off this morning to attend a quilt lecture.  The quilter has her own television show and I need to get a gentle push to get back to finishing my projects.

I love this time of day - the earlier the morning the better.  We are able to have windows open all night and that is so refreshing.  We have A/C now - years ago with two of the babies born in Colorado during summer, keeping cool was a necessary thing.

Thinking of Larry, Pat and Scott!

Carol

We had the pleasure of meeting Pat and Paul when they came through this area from a trip to the west coast.  They were late and we had supper at 10 PM - no problem.  The visit was much too short - they did stay a short while after breakfast and I wish they could have stayed longer.  A very pleasant and faithful couple.

MESSAGE ABOUT LARRY -

This is Scott, Larry's son. It brings great sorrow to inform you that my father is very ill and is not expected to last much longer. The Hospice nurse said he should make it though the night but beyond that she could not say. I apologize for starting your day like this.  My father asked me on Wednesday to stop all visitors , except his hospice nurses and aid. I will be contacting all of my fathers contacts (quite a job indeed) when he reaches his final destination. As we all know...heaven.

From Scott Hanna:On Facebook
This is Scott again.

To all you wonderful people who have commented on Dad's page. Some have stated they believe this may be a hoax as they had communications with him just within the last two weeks. I can assure you all none of you have been victim of a hoax. As short as around 10 days ago he was up and active and interacting with his world. His decline was quick but generally quiet and peaceful. Mom was with him in his final moments and was singing him a song when he passed.

I have no words ...  :'(  :'(
We've lost another wonderful friend.
I've often heard these things come in threes ... It is so here. Pat, Paul, and now Larry.  all in such a short time of each other.
Heaven is richer for our loss.

I just got home from a two day road trip.
I did learn of dear LARRY'S passing, as was able to get some of my email.  Had a lot of time without a connection...

I am so very sorry to have lost another dear friend.  Larry was the best, most faithful poster we had on CP, and will be dearly missed.

I want to go find Larry's FB page and post my condolences there as well.

My deep sympathy to Larry's son Scott and Larry's wife Pat plus all of Larry's relatives and close friends.  It has been a pleasure to "know" all these people of strong faith.

JudyB

I have finally caught up with the posts.  On sunday I had an eye injury and was not able to stand the light.  All better now and now time to get caught up.

I am saddened to see news of Larry's passing.  He was a good friend to all here.  John was able to have coffee with him on one of his trips south.

We have lost a lot of members in the past months.  Prayer goes to all their friends and family.

I am heading out and will be back later today.

Marilyn

Good morning one and all. I will be going to visit my nrw Hospice patient this morning. I will take Freckles since she likes dogs and told me I could bring her.

Marilyn, may I ask what are your duties as a Hospice worker?  I know they have nurses and aids; was told they also have people who will visit patients when family has to be away, etc. Beth was on Hospice for over three months, but I stayed close, as I wanted to spend all the time possible with her before she moved to Heaven.  So I'm just wondering what your duties with Hospice are, if you don't mind telling me.  Bless you for what you do!

Judy, glad your eye injury is okay now!  I remember when John and Larry met that time.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Larry in person, but will have a long visit with him when I get Home!

Carol, how are things going with you and Don?

Janet, I go sit with the patient , Respite care, I  check to see if she is in any pain, do the things that her husband or caretaker would be doing if they were there. Today We talked a lot, I looked at photographs, put away the  meals on wheels. Mostly doing what the caregiver would be doing. I could  set up pill boxes, fix meals, etc. Observing the patient  closely so that I can provide accurate details  in my daily report back to Hospice. I could take her to Dr appts if necessary.

I am thinking of all the good and faithful people we have been privileged to know through CP.   <3

Janet:  We just keep on keeping on.  On thing I have learned is that what can keep me awake at night is nothing compared to what so many have endured and some still endure.  Believe!!!    I have missed an appointment this morning and that is totally unlike me so I had a chat with the Lord and will try to shape up and count blessings.
