Janet: You and so many others I can't count are so positive - it makes me feel humble.  I do know - it is alright to feel down and out then push yourself up in spirit and that makes you feel so good . Life is highs and lows for sure.

Another hot day in Colorado and we just returned from an old-fashioned car show.  Two of our sons entered their car/jeep in the show - it is just fun to see cars I recognize from school days.  I brought bars and ice water for them. We came home early - Don is having recurring leg pain and has a scheduled appointment this week.  Marvelous news is that it is only a five minute drive.  When he goes to the Veterans Administration new campus, we drive in horrible traffic for almost 40 minutes.  We are treated royally at the new hospital - they are always so considerate of the former servicemen and women.

Yesterday, I had a minor and totally painless procedure at a Dermatologist office.  I have never been with that doctor before - they took a little piece of skin and are sending it in for a biopsy.

Marilyn, your friend appreciates the extra help. Very thoughtful.

Greetings Everyone  A splendid weather day yesterday, Saturday that is on the Island.  Long sunny spells, but as with most islands a decent breeze. I had a day out visiting family and it is splendid having a wonderful family.

Greetings Carol  Medicines are not always the cause of memory difficulties.

Greetings Janet  Now that is what I like to hear, songs and singers from the 1950's.  I don't like this modern Rap music!

After church today I will be going to my friend's house to clean up after her dog and put her  trash out  as they pick it up at 2 am tomorrow morning.

Not much new here, I started an afghan for my son for  Christmas then the caregiver calls to tell me she is pregnant. Oh my, I guess I will have to get busy on the afghan so I can make one for her baby before it is born. Please pray for Tiki, she is high risk for a miscarriage.

Tomorrow is also the day I go to imaging at the hospital for my  mammogram and the ultra sound on the swollen lymph node behind my left ear.

Hi everyone on a relative cool day here in Georgia.  I am so hopeful that the confusion of the last couple of days when I was definitely in a state of memory failure is gone for at least one day.  Let me tell you it is a dreadful place to be in as everyone is telling you it will be all right when you can't do anything but plead for help.  If I don't post on a given day take it that I am back in the state where I cannot post.  I was pleading for help and all I seemed to get was people patting my hand and telling me I wasn't experiencing what I way.  Perhaps I did take too much medicine and certainly hope that is the case.  Pat thinks I have become dehydrated again.  It has never made sense to me to take a salt pill three times a day and then limit fluid to no more than 1 1/2 liters.

I don't have much to write about from yesterday since I wasn't here.  I will try to come back and edit my posting for comments from the since I last was able to do a quick edit.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see your post. If you experienced what you said, then Larry I for one know you must have experienced it.  One does not write the way they feel, if that is how they feel.

Janet

Thanks for the kind words, Carol.
I know that most of what we are experiencing lately is because of advancing age.  But what I never expected is how quickly I seem to be losing strength, endurance and balance!  We are going back to the gym to work on those issues, and I know it really helps.

Marilyn, will the caregiver be able to keep working through her pregnancy?  If not, I hope you find another good one.

Larry, I remember that morphine used to make Beth think she was going crazy; but that was the morphine shots when in the hospital.  She didn't seem to have that effect on the liquid morphine from Hospice.  Still praying it is something that can be changed, in your case.  That has to be so scary!

Ellie, nice to 'see' you!

Janet  don't know if she will be able to continue working here. We consider her as family. So she may stay on. If not I will have to hire someone else for the  cleaning. I am definitely thinking of hiring a carpet cleaner, the only problem with that, they will have to work around all the  stuff Keith has collected over the years that is stacked every where. Extra furniture is in the family room he gets rid of NOTHING!!, and won't let me even give things away.  Plus there are the cats that have sprayed every place imaginable. I try to  get the smell our but it has become almost impossible.

Hi everyone on a beautiful morning here in South Carolina. We are suppose to get up to 97 degrees this afternoon but no rain.

It was Pat's observation that made her recognize I was having the dementia due to the dehydration and as soon as she had me start on drinking water during the night I knew yesterday morning that the dementia was gone and my mind was clear again.  She is my caregiver and I have told her I will follow her caregiving and she and my son will look after my needs if I quit meddling.

I just had a call from Lowe's about my new flooring.  Talk about something being confused this situation is a case study.  The call was from the delivery folks at Lowe's saying they were about three minutes away with the flooring to deliver.  I explained that Scott had the material in his car that avoided any delivery charges as it involved only 8 boxes.  The actual installer will be calling within the next couple of days to set up the time to come and install it. They took the materials back to Lowe's and I had another call from Lowe's and I have the paid receipt so hopefully that is all straightened out but we will just take it as it comes over the next few days.  I am short of breath today and probably will spend the day in bed, enjoying a right minded day.  I did have a Facetime call from my friend Rod. The one good thing about getting caught with dementia is perhaps I have some idea of what my friend is living and we can have a great conversation.

I am going to enjoy every day of this Hospice Journey and will continue to be as supportive as I can be in sharing my journal.  On Friday my nurse was out on an emergency and came late.  I had seen years ago how they were willing to stay with a family of a person and family, as they did with us when Stacey was dying.  We just don't know what these people do while being on call.

I want to share this piece that Pat had sent me in an email this morning and that came right after I had made the decision to do whatever she said because she has made the commitment to be my caregiver.  If you see a few tears in this message they are here.

One final comment for today.  I will not always be posting in the morning as am sleeping later.  So give me a wide window to post each day as I plan to continue to do this daily after missing few days in 25 years.  I do appreciate your expressions of concern.  I will try to post in the AM.

Greetings Janet  I float in and I float out of the site, reading the posts as I go.  Don't overdo the Gym work!

Greetings Larry  We are both glad Pat found out you were dehydrated and that since you
re hydrated, you feel a lot better.    Post when you can and I like your other friends here, we look forward to your posts each day.

Something odd is going on with this HP laptop.  It is not typing where I want it to type and I have to go back and forth.  Machine against man.....I am losing.

Judy:  Thinking of you - I really hope you can find someone to help with Tinnitus.

Larry:  Happy Anniversary

Janet:  Thank you for your special prayers.  You are in my prayers as well.

I must find some tech worker  - so difficult to type when every minute I have to reset the typed word.  This is insane.

I'm using Quick Reply this time, as I'm about to leave to paint--my happy day!

We went to see the urologist yesterday about Darrel's diagnosis.  He made us feel somewhat better by telling us that as we age, every system in our bodies loses the "perfect" functions they had when we were young, and that if it is needed, our doctor here will send Darrel to a Nephrologist, there are two of them in Garden City.  So I don't feel it's as much of an immediate threat as I first thought.

yesterday as he was very tired.  I am not sure if that meant today as well.

Sorry, I did not post the message yesterday.

From Larry today.
***********************
Mary Ann,

Your kind help is so appreciated.  My life seems to be totally out of my control.  All I do is sleep in sort of a daze while being aware of what is going on.  Since I don't seem to be able right now to accomplish what I say I am going to do I have decided to take a leave of absence from the discussion boards.  What I thought I would be able to do or would make a commitment to I just can't seem to focus enough on to accomplish and just continue to sleep.  Therefore would you post on the Discussions that I will not be appearing for awhile and may not be able to return at all.  I hate this as you all are my friends of many years.  I will just have to take things one day at a time. My world is changing by the hour.  I certainly welcome emails but right now just can't handle the discussion boards.  Thanks.

Larry

Jacqueline Thank you for the update.

I'm so excited and I just can't help it!!!

About a year ago I felt that I was loosing contact with my kids and their spouses.  In response I stated praying that the "walls" would be broken down and that they would be receptive to God and family.  "I" had a brain wave.  I started texting every child (except 1 whose number I didn't have) and their spouse Good Morning.  I prayed that God would do what ever he needed to bring my family back to Him.  Last June (a year ago) my sweet troubled grand daughter died.  Thankfully she believed in Jesus Christ as a child, and was adamant about her faith.
At her funeral I had contact with the last of the family....A hug and her name....simple right?  Nope, but ya see it was my arms but the hug was from God to her.....I got her number.
My good morning list was now complete.....or was it.
Our son in law was a very bitter man, and Kimi dying gave him more reason to be bitter.....
I started including a young lady "K" to the good mornings..... She is our grand son's girlfriend.
Then Heather showed me the messages she gets fro another friend!  OH THAT IS A GREAT IDEA!!!  I added bible verses to my good mornings for select people.  I have bee called a bible thumper once too often...so this was for select people.
Today's message was this..."The most difficult thing is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity." Amelia Earhart.
To select people I sent this in addition to the quote.
"This quote reminds me of a chorus we sang as a child/teen.  I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, No turning back, no turning back.  Many make the decision to follow Jesus but lack the tenacity to follow through. Unfortunately they will hear "I never knew you!"
By "accident" I sent this additional text to "K".  I then apologized. She loved it and asked if she could share it with her mother. WOW God is working with my family!!!
I was later chatting with Jon Heather's husband (4 weeks sober), and he has requested the bible verses as well! this is the man that was so bitter he wanted nothing to do with God, or the Bible!!!
Boy I am excited!  I love seeing what God is doing in people's lives!

Topping this off with this.  My good morning list has grown.   If you have problems connecting with your children, start with a simple good morning!  Eventually you will be able to add more, as the LORD leads!

Marilyn

Oh Judy that is so awsome, I love what you are doing.

Judy, I can "feel" your excitement through the computer! When we leave things in God's hands and take our hands off, great things happen.

I have known/sung that chorus for years.

When my grandson was just about 4 years old, he and his brother were being driven home from school (or preschool in his case) and all were singing songs along the way.  Someone suggested "Let's talk about Jesus" and David said "No way, I want to talk about GOD"  when asked what he meant he said "'Cause God's got big hands!"  He thought He must have big hands if He has the whole world in His hands.  I remember some of us thought about putting that slogan on a tee shirt ... God's Got Big Hands...

I had my ultrasound Thursday, she took several pictures of that side of my neck then only 2 of the other side. Praying for good results.

Judy: Such a nice family story and thank you for sharing the Good News!

My favorite song to sing along with is "Bless the Lord" (or it is also called 10,000 Reasons) by Redman.

Marilyn:  Prayers for good results for you from the doctor.

We are laughing about this coming week because it is all about doctor appointments.Don had to turn in his hearing aids for at least 2 weeks - It is a real challenge here. I do a lot of walking and wouldn't you know, one leg of mine is not behaving so that is just one of the things wrong on the list to tell the doctors.  We are fortunate to have medical care -

I had to have my fairly old Bernina sewing machine tuned - it is too fancy for me to deal with it. They "lost" it for a few days and  I was a bit concerned, then, they called and said someone had put the wrong tag on it. So nice of them to take the $50 price off.

We have several stressful issues in the family - reading the good book and having faithful friends keeps all of us going.

Tuesday night, the quilters are meeting here again. As long as I have ice cream or sherbet, along with something baked, they love desserts.
