Greetings Larry  I keep anything that hubby sent me, not sure he has kept many things I sent him.  Us ladies do tend to place a lot of importance to letters or gifts from our menfolk.  Now will a gentlemen tell me off for that statement.

It is splendid seeing your long posts.

Rebot

Greetings Jackie  Splendid seeing your photo of you and Richard. I have tried to enlarge it on software hubby has on his desktop computer, but it won't enlarge for me.

Jacqueline

Ellie...
...thank you for giving the enlargement a go...I was playing around with photos into the late-early hours of last night, I have more photos of varying sizes that I could still play around with but this avatar photo size is doable so I shall probably just accept it.....

I got up and did a few things this morning, then went to the church to help with a funeral dinner.  Was there from 9 until 1:30!!  This guy passed away in January, under suspicious circumstances; there was an autopsy, but I don't know what was found.
He was only 50 years old, the son of a couple of long-time church members.  They had his inurnment out at an old country cemetery which the family has been using for generations.  Then they came to fellowship Hall and ate dinner; after we took the plates, etc., off, we brought out big trays of cookies for them.  Not sure what was to happen after I left, but my back and legs were hurting from all the standing and lifting.  They weren't having any of the service in the sanctuary.  Different.

Jackie, I have NO IDEA how to do what you did with photos on the computer!!  Good for you!  Glad to see you coming in more often again!

Larry, is it too far for you to walk to the bathroom, so you can avoid the "torture potty?"  Glad they got the extra fluids off, so you can feel better.  Hospice is wonderful!

HI, CAROL!  Oops on the caps...always good to read your posts.

I'm signing off now, want to watch the news!

Hi everyone on what will probably be another really rainy but cooler day here in South Carolina.  Our high today is to be 82 with 100% chance of Thunderstorms around 7 pm this evening with still high chances throughout the rest of the day.  I have no plans of getting outside the house today so unless we lose power I really won't be impacted.  Yesterday afternoon around 5 pm the company that provides the medical equipment was here to deliver a claw footed cane for me to use (and it really helps assure I have good balance before taking another step.)  It was pouring rain here when he called a few minutes earlier but by the time the man got here to deliver the cane it had stopped.  He told me it had been a rough day making deliveries as he rain into many flooded roads around this area.

I had a great Facetime call yesterday from a man I have long known and we worked together over the years.  We recalled old memories and am sure we will be talking fairly often.  The Facetime is really good.  I do hope to get to speak with my best friend over in Grayson later today as it has been several days.  I spent the day just working on small projects, writing a letter to mail ( :o who doesn't have a computer) and writing several emails.  I reworked the medicine sheet we use with my pill boxes to record all the info from the medicine bottles.  I take a lot of medicine but after some manipulations I finally got every thing to print on one sheet. I did get the new sandals I had ordered but feet still to swollen to be able to adjust the straps but am hopeful that Scott can put in another hole closer to the end of the strap.

Ellie, I agree with you about women valuing letters and gifts perhaps more than men do although know it is an individual thing.  When I emptied our safe deposit box at the Credit Union the other day I found some old papers that relate to Pat's family that we thought had been lost during our move when a brief case didn't show up when we unpacked things here in South Carolina. I don't seem to know how to write very much short but am planning on using Facebook and Messenger to be a little more terse in my comments.  However, I will probably try to continue with longer postings here in the discussions as want to share things with my friends.

Jackie, sometimes better to accept the givens like the size of the Avatars rather than spend a lot of time.  However, there is an old and free program I have long used called Irfanview that makes it easy to reduce the size of photos.  I have used it many times in the past to make large photos fit the photo criteria here in our early day discussions. You just make the settings you want to use and the program does the rest.  I need to remember to use this program myself as just yesterday took pictures around my "man cave" and know they are way too large to be emailing.

Janet, many traditions are changing quickly and the lack of a funeral service in your sanctuary is one of them.  I know when Stacey died our minister said he was willing to work with us anyway possible.  We elected to have a beautiful "Celebration of Life".  It must be terrible for the poor parents to bear the loss of their son and then to have the death perhaps involve suspicious circumstances. I know you always want to be helpful wherever you can but perhaps it is time to let the younger folks pick up more of the load with such things as the lunch your Church provided.  However, providing the lunch is a wonderful thing for the family and friends and is certainly a great thing as it allows relatives, who perhaps one hasn't seen in a long time, to have a time to visit and recall their past experiences with the deceased.  These things are a bit hard to do in a restaurant setting. My bathroom is only about 10 steps and with the claw cane I can plant it and move my two feet a short distance and repeat the process usually where I am close enough to grab onto the door jambs or something solid . I am very careful as sure don't want another fall.  It  However, when I leave this area I will likely use the wheelchair as it provides a lot more safety. It really takes me a long time to do anything compared to how I use to do things in the past. I find using the urinal at the bedside to work best for me right now because with this Lasix it seems to be a job that has to be done about every 25 minutes or so, just when I get settled in bed or am started on something I am working on with the computers.  However, certainly no complaints as want to get this fluid off.

Janet

Hello, much later in the day than usual!

The combined churches Bible School program this morning was so wonderful!  Five of our local churches worked together, and all 5 pastors were on the platform together today, playing instruments and leading some songs!  The kids sang their peppy songs they learned in VBS, complete with all the cute actions.  And two of the pastors told a couple of the Bible story lessons they taught the kids.  Just wonderful to have this spirit of fellowship, brotherhood and camaraderie!  And just think!  When we get to heaven, we won't have any denominational barriers at all anymore!!  :D

We drove over to Hugoton to the kids to load up some stuff Mark has decided he wants us to bring him. All this time, he's been saying the only thing he wanted us to bring was his mail!! Well, his mail really gained a lot of weight--he wanted  boxes and boxes of heavy parts and other things.  It barely fit into the pickup bed with our things we had loaded for the camper.  But we're happy to be able to take it--after all, we are going to his place anyway!  ;)

Larry, good to read that you had a nice facetime visit, and that things continue shaping up in your "man cave."

I'm much too tired, as didn't get to sleep until around two this morning.  I couldn't find my bottle of CBD oil, and didn't want to take pain pills.  Finally got up and found the oil after 1:00.  Gotta keep that stuff handy!

I will try to stay in touch, but haven't had much luck doing that on my phone.  Leaving early in the morning; plan to be home around the 20th.

Love and blessings to each of you!

Hi everyone on what is probably going to be another rainy and cool day here in my part of South Carolina.  The morning looks like it will be calm but thundershowers are predicted for the afternoon.  Yesterday I heard that an area near here had up to 7 inches of rain and we had only a little less than 1 inch.

This morning my activities were not as they have been for several days.  I actually slept about 15 minutes longer and got up around close to 4 am.  I got cleaned up and dressed for the day then decided to lay back down and use my iPhone to read my emails, devotionals, and to read through the postings since yesterday on the CP and S&F sites.  The iPhone is so handy.  I then had my breakfast and am now settled in front of my big computer, probably for most all of the morning since I don't take another Lasix until lunch time and found the fluid is still coming off without having to keep my feet elevated above my heart level in the mornings.  I will get my feet elevated during the PM hours with oxygen being used and so can enjoy a nice quiet afternoon and evening.

If I keep gushing about feeling better daily I hope you are seeing me as some kind of Pollyanna as I am also realistic.  But I just have to share how much better I am feeling.  I am beginning to see the results of the Lasix but know there is still a long way to go.  Yesterday afternoon I stepped on my scales and found it registered 180 pounds whereas I had started out at 215 pounds.  I am certain another probably 20 or 30 pounds is due to this fluid buildup.  I am stronger this morning and just know it is going to be a wonderful day.  Around 1 pm the man that heads the ramp building committee will be here to check out our situation and I should know whether the committee will build one for us, but I am very optimistic they will.  I pay all of the out of pocket for the committee plus make a generous donation back to that committee or to wherever they ask for the money to go.  Then my new office chair is to be delivered sometime today and I hope it is morning.

Yesterday my 1st cousin, who was Pat's best friend growing up and college roommate and had introduced Pat and I in college (the rest is history) called me.  We had a wonderful chat and she has Facetime so sure we will be staying in touch better than we have in years.  Later I wrote to my boyhood best friend to get the phone number of his first wife (and mother of his oldest son).  She was the one and only girl in our Senior Class of six in high school and I haven't had any contact with her for over 20 years and want to reestablish our friendship as she is a very lovely lady.  Our good neighbor stopped by and gave Pat some home grown tomatoes yesterday.  I was resting at the time and so didn't get to visit with him but we have had some good conversations and I know he will be back over.

I have decided to start using the Edge Microsoft browser and the related programs like Mail on all of my computers.  I am finding it interesting to set up and it gives me something new to learn.  Guess I have rattled on long enough for this morning.

Janet, our Bible School is yet to occur and the Church is also having a variety of different summer camps for our young children throughout the summer.  It is a good outreach to the community and is not limited to our Church families only. You are right I expect we may be pretty ashamed in Heaven over some of our denominational barriers.  A few days ago I had a lovely card from a fellow I had worked with over the years and he is a Catholic.  He included in his beautiful card a little note hoping I wouldn't be offended by the tone of the card.  I had written him an email and then, I think it was yesterday, he called me on Facetime and we had a great time recalling our work past.  I actually think he may have been one of the trainees I had over the years but my memory fails on that matter and it is of no consequence.  We always liked each other and still do.  It sounds like your pickup truck held just the right amount of things Mark wanted and what you need to take.  I doubt you will see this posting for awhile since I see you are leaving for Florida this morning.  I sure hope you can avoid any of these storms and flooding here in the SE.  However, I am sure you won't take any chances.  It sounds like you might want to tie a string on the CBD oil so it doesn't get lost to you again.  Glad it is helping you and think it is something worthwhile for Pat to look into. If you can't get your iPhone to work as you would like you have some of our phone numbers and you can always give me or someone else a quick call so we can here from you these next 10 days.

Ellie, glad you checked in.  I believe it isn't the content or length of our postings that are really important but the maintenance of contact with our wonderful cyber friends.

Carol

My yearly physical was this morning.  I have one dermatologist issue to take care of and they want me to go downtown.  Now I have to find someone in the suburbs who will take my insurance.  Always something.  Thankful that it is the only & a little issue.

It is a cool day and tomorrow begins the heat.  Very worrisome for floods & slides in the mountains.  Meanwhile, the scenery is awesome.

I have been setting aside an hour per day cutting fabric and sewing little things for the fall church bazaar.  Also, reading a nice book by Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham's daughter.  I recommend it (especially the first part) for anyone who has lost a loved one.

Garth Brooks had a concert at the Mile High Stadium and several storms stayed away.  84,000 people were able to watch the show.  We didn't go.  :coffee:

Janet:  Safe travels to Florida and back.  I hope you will get a lot of use out of the new trailer.

PS.  Because my blood sugar was so good, I came home and ate the last Snickerdoodle cookie.   ^-^

Yes I have returned home, What a day yesterday. Our flight from SF to home because plane was delayed 4 hours, 3 of those late coming in from Fresno, and one  0ne on the tarmac getting a repair, we were in the plane for that hour. To top that off, Saturday I came down with a cold and yesterday I was absolutely miserable, couldn't get home fast enough.

As soon as the cab dropped us off I stuck every thing in  the bedroom and  went to pick up Freckles. She was so  happy to see me. My friend who took care of her had to have her own 16 yr old miniature Border Collie put down one day last week. So Sad.  We should have been home by 1:15 but didn't land until 5 pm.

I went to bed at 7 pm. I had not been asleep since  around 3 am Saturday I was dead tired and miserable with my head all stuffed up I couldn't even hear very well. I feel a little better today. but I  have a Dr. appt today 3 to check the lump on one of the lymph glands.

Hi everyone on an overcast and there is but a little chance of rain today with it staying in the mid-80's range.

Today is the day the aid comes to help me with my bath.  I have everything set up ready to go and know she is one busy lady. This has been an exciting morning for me.  A few days ago I got a second pair of sandals, this time with straps that would adjust but I still couldn't get them on my swollen feet.  Will this morning I tried again and they fit onto my feet.  They are cheap and firmly things and I plan on sending them back.  I am hopeful that I can now get on my house slippers and not have to buy sandals.  There was a discussion just yesterday in Seniors and Friends so I plan on looking back today and noting the companies that have good sandals so I can check them out.  I am more than ready to start getting out of the house and told Pat when she goes somewhere I will go along and find a corner to read or listen to my book and then she won't have to worry about going off and leaving me.  Scott's schedule was changed this week to have today and tomorrow off although he may have to work this evening.  He plans on coming out later this morning after picking up a big grocery order for his mother from the Walmart online ordering.

I did meet with the man who heads up our Churches ramp team and he is going to build a ramp for us but it probably will be in mid-July and he has some other commitments and members of his team may be away for a vacation, etc.  We can certainly get by until then.  Then my new office chair was delivered by Office Depot and they just put it on the front porch and Pat had to get the box inside the house.  Fortunately it wasn't too heavy.  I expect delivery of several things today.  Yesterday afternoon a lady from our Sunday School class called saying she was bringing us dinner.  Pat hadn't started anything and the call and meal was most welcome.  In fact she brought enough food for more than one meal.

Carol, it sounds like you had a successful physical and I expect you will be able to find someone who will take your insurance. Does your insurance company help find the doctor that accepts your insurance? I hope it doesn't get too hot out your way today.  I haven't read the Anne Graham Lotz book but am aware of it.  I would want to stay out of a crowd of 84,000 people also as traffic must have been a nightmare.  I will just listen to him sing on Spotify and save big time money and trying to find a place to park, etc.  Pat made a big bunch of Chocolate Chip cookies yesterday and just spread them out on a sheet and then cut them in bars.  Sure better for her than standing and putting out droplet of cookies and they taste just the same.

Marilyn, sorry your nice trip had to end so miserably with the delays and now the cold.  I sure hope today finds you feeling better.  I hope Keith and your other family enjoyed your trip.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  A cooler day on the Isle of Man, or in Manx Ellan Vannin, I am trying to learn some of the Manx Language.

Carol

Larry:I am glad that you can find some sandals to keep you steady on your feet.  So important.  How super nice that the church has a group to make a ramp for you.  It will be so much safer.  Yes, I couldn't tolerate a huge crowd like that - I wonder where all the cars parked?  How about using the stadium bathrooms?  I always think of practical things  :) Great idea for Pat to bake a pan of cookie dough and slice them into bars.  Snickerdoodles have to be rolled in cinnamon and sugar but I could just sprinkle them on top.

Don is off to the VA again this morning for a scan on his hand.  I am waiting for someone to fix our downstairs fireplace.  It won't be used for a long time but it really does get chilly in the walk-out basement.  The house is built on slanted land and has a full wall towards trees and open space - so nice to sew down there with a view south sun.

Tomorrow, we will take lunch with youngest son and wife.  They just returned from a long trip to Scotland.  She has summer off and he works for a company that tells him he has to take a sabbatical time off - many weeks.  I never worked for anyone that generous.

Marilyn: I hope you are feeling better every day - take time to mend.

Rebot:  Good day Ellie!  I cannot tell you the name of the television show that showed fantastic pictures of your part of the world and it is so lush,  green and beautiful.  It makes us want to take a walk on any of the paths.  So peaceful.

Judy:  Thinking of you today - sending up a prayer for  you and the family.

Marilyn

Larry you sound like you are feeling so much better and able to write your long posting again. It is greaty that church has a team that builds ramps. It must be a big church.

Hello Carol, Ellie, Jackie and Janet.

Judy I tried to go back to before this thread was started to see what I missed and was unable to find any sort of link to take me there.

I am going to be having an Ultrasound on the Lymph nodes behind my ears, although only one is enlarged I amalso due for my yearly Mammogram, the hospital will be contacting me for the Ultrasound and the Women's Imaging center for the Mammogram.

The Kauai trip was really nice although pretty hot weather wise. Gilbert had a friend who use to live there so he  contacted hom to ask about free activities for us to  do. The tourist activities are all over $100, per person.  So did did our self tours, no boat rides or helicopter tours, No Luau. Still Had a great time and ate good food. Keith did prefer not to do the walking that we did so he either sat in the car or stayed at the condo.

Hi everyone.  It is only a little after 6 am and still dark outside my window here by my desk.  We had a very nice day here yesterday and the rain stayed away.  It does look like we have a really good chance of rain throughout the day but our temps should remain nice.

I had an interesting night, if a bit scary.  I use a password program called Last Pass and have for years.  It has one Master Password that remains only in your knowledge and cannot be recovered if lost.  They use very strong military type encryption and I have tons of not only passwords but other related information stored in Last Pass. Last night while doing something it suggested it was time to change the password.  This I did but obviously didn't get the process completed and it appeared for a time that I would lose all of the passwords and other information I have stored in Last Pass.  Finally I can upon an email that showed how to revert back to the old password and that is what I did and didn't lose a thing.  I was very relived.

Yesterday my new office chair for the computer arrived and Elizabeth stopped over and started to put it together only to find out it hadn't been assembled correctly.  So we are taking it back to Office Depot locally ASAP for a refund.  This chair, like a steno chair, had no arms and it dawned on me during the night that what I had was a disaster waiting to occur as it would be so easy to fall from it.  Then I remembered I had used one of our dinette chairs as my office chair in the past so rolled one of them into my office and it is going to work perfectly and I don't need to buy another chair.  I hope we can take the chair back for a refund later this morning and while there I want to get a blue tooth adapter for my TV and then I am going to give myself a Father's Day gift of a good pair of blue tooth headphones just to use with the TV.  I have a couple of pair of inexpensive small ear bud type head gear and each will be dedicated to a separate device.

I expect Scott to be here fairly early this morning.  Pat has arranged with a friend to pick her up here at the house to take her to her crafts activities at the Church later this morning.  I plan on using my walker today at the Credit Union and Office Depot rather than having to have Scott deal with the transport chair for our outing and if I play it right we can still get some ARBY's sandwiches to bring home for lunch. After the busy morning I will probably crash this afternoon as I have been doing most afternoons and evening.

Carol, I can now wear my house slippers, which have a rubberized type sole and are much better than the sandals.  I wear them without socks and the sweat pants hides that fact.  Scott has finally decided he must get his carpal tunnel situation taken care of soon. That must be some company that your son works for and also his wife.

Marilyn, we do have a pretty large Church but don't know the membership.  It is very mission oriented and they go out two different times of the year to help those who cannot afford to help themselves in building ramps, fixing rotten flooring or roofs and sometimes actually replacing plumbing or fixtures that are beyond normal repair.  Glad that Keith enjoyed the trip even if he sat in the car or stayed at the condo.

I find myself trying to fall asleep here in my easy chair.  Time for sleep later.

Carol

Back from picking up my prescription and some groceries.  Everything works well when ordering 3 months of a prescription 4 times a year. My old cell phone was not working at all and Don found a way to search for updates - apparently, that was the problem.  It seems as though there is always some little "fix-it" on the agenda.

Marilyn:  I hope your trip was peaceful and it sounds like a nice break for a normal routine.

I have to make banana bread - the entire bunch turned ripe almost overnight.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  It is a very green and lush Island, lots of rain here at times.  But it is a beautiful Island.

Rebot

Greetings Marilyn   Like you I enjoy the splendid longer posts from Larry now.

Carol

It is warm enough to have windows open. We took a long walk earlier and then I forced myself to sew.  I have cut a lot of 2 1/2 inch squares of different cotton designs and have begun the project.  Also finished making 20 mini Kleenex fabric holders for a church bazaar. My goal is to make more and perhaps pot holders but I have to see how things turn out.

Judy and John:  my mind has been on you two today - sending Peace and Prayers to you.

JudyB

Thank you for praying.  John is struggling with back spasms, I am concerned they may be related to his back surgery, from a little over 2 years ago.  We lost our Rottie Zeke 2 weeks ago, he was chasing a groundhog I think, and got his head caught in between 2 boulders.  We found him and John tried to move the one boulder with brute strength.  It was too big and I believe that is when he pulled muscles in his back.  I am trying to persuade him to get an Xray, but he seems to be trying to avoid that. A neighbour came with his tractor and lifted the boulder and I pulled Zeke away.  He was shocky, and badly dehydrated the vet treated him well.  Thankfully he has bounced back, and is fine.  A testament to prayer and Zeke's strength.

Many of you will remember Heather our daughter.  June 30th last year her 18 year old daughter died.  The details of that at this point are not important.  2 weeks ago she had a meeting with her pastor about starting a support group for parents who have buried their children.  She had a follow up meeting yesterday and he has approved the group plan, however he would like it open to anyone who has buried a loved one.  We are so excited for Heather, what the enemy had planned for bad our Father has turned to good.  She is working on getting materials together and preparing for this ministry which is to start in September. Please keep Heather and he husband in prayer. Jon (her hubby) still struggles with Kimi being gone and I am praying what the research he is doing will help him as well.

We have had so much rain in our part of northern Ontario, however north of us the fire fighters are battling a forest fire, and praying for more rain. The local farmers are struggling to get into the fields to plant their crops. We need heat, to enable the crops to grow.  This year from last autumn on has been so different from what we are used to.  An interesting thing is the placement of the sun during sundown.  It appears to be more north than west. The earth seems to have changed its position as a result of the multiple earthquakes. Has anyone else noticed this?

Well John is home from his run and I must go!

Hi everyone on a beautiful Father's Day here in South Carolina.  The birds are singing us a nice song.  I have actually been checking in here everyday but for some reason couldn't find the sign in box.  Obviously it was there as others were postings.  Thanks Michael for finding me.

I have had probably the most unusual Father's Day morning, one I couldn't have scripted. I have been giving a lot of thought to some changes I want to make in some documentation as well as cleaning up my LastPass information and being sure what I have conforms with what Pat has.  I think I have a handle on it.  About three AM I was wide awake and decided to get up and work for awhile.  When I picked up my phone I saw I had a message from Scott wanting to know if I was awake.  I texted him back that I was and in a few minutes he came in the door to wish me Happy Father's Day and to sit and visit with me awhile. He has found the little device he thinks that will make my television blue tooth adaptable but his Mother has it and he didn't want to wake her.  He told me I could go ahead and get it and he will install it Wednesday when he is out on his day off.  When he gets home from work he always has to unwind a bit but by 4:30 when he left he was ready to get some sleep.

Yesterday he did get the final ramp to the UPS Depot and sent it back.  It cost over $90 in shipping costs.  I knew I had to pay the return shipping cost if I sent it back so am not complaining although I never thought it would be so costly.  I got the UPS tracking number and emailed the necessary information to complete the matter.  Sometime things just don't work out as we had hoped and the ramps were one of them.  Now the Church group will build the ramp sometime in the middle of July and we can make due with care in getting into and out of the garage into the house.

I have dried a load of clothes that Pat had left in the washer, mainly my clothes, and hung them up.  Also while fixing and eating my breakfast I washed up the dishes in the sink and emptied and put away the dishes Pat had washed last evening. She is going to do a special cleaning wash with something she has to clean a dishwasher.  By the time I finished my breakfast my heart was signaling it was time to sit down and rest, which I pretty much expect to do for the rest of the day as I work on desk projects.  My steps get smaller the more my heart wears down.

It looks like my last posting here in CP was around June 12 so  quickly read over all the posting since then and see I don't need to add anything to today's posting.  .
