DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

Devotional of Chris Saunders

Ephesians 6 : 12

The born again man or woman is always involved in spiritual warfare, sometimes not too bad, at other times really terrible. Satan usually uses other people to do it, sometimes just tension, pressure or anxieties. It can seem relentless, bringing sleeplessness, tiredness, worry.
The young church which was formed in the book of Acts when 3000 Jews became Christians in one day.. Was a great miracle of God's redeeming grace, He had chosen them and now He called them into the Kingdom.
They were to take the Gospel, the good news of grace into all the world, this is what the Nation of Israel were meant to do, but failed miserably in it, the Jews were meant to have made the gentiles yearn to become God's people, but instead they kept the good news to themselves.
It was only when our Lord Jesus came that the "Light to lighten the Gentiles" actually worked for them.
But when the church was born, almost immediately the attacks began.. the "circumcision" hated the followers of this " false Messiah" this son of a carpenter..
Spiritual and physical warfare began and continued, the "Christians" were scattered to Jerusalem, Samaria and to the ends of the earth, taking the gospel with them. It began then and continues today, the true church is at war, and will always be at war, mostly on the defensive, for the church means no harm to anyone, the church is a great source of good in the world.
And because of the good that the born again believers do, they become number one target of God's enemy the devil, Satan, the accuser, the great Antagonist.
We desire to further God's Kingdom on earth, Satan desires to stop us doing this.
If the Evil One can put us out of action, stopping our work, then He is delighted, and there are times in our lives when we come under the most intense pressure, anxious and worried about families, friends, situations we take out eyes off the only One Who can give us relief, and victory in these battles, fear attacks our mind, we fret.
But all through the Gospels Jesus tell us not to fret, not to worry, not to be afraid of circumstances or evil tidings, but instead to look to Him, to keep our eyes firmly upon Him to see what He will do, for He allows things to come into our lives for His own Glory, He will most certainly work it all for good.
"Greater is He"..I'm sure you can finish that verse yourself.
I have brothers and sisters in Christ who are struggling at this very moment, I know He will bring them through, and they too know that He will bring them through, but at this moment in time they are suffering, the warfare is very real.
Just quoting scripture doesn't always help, although eventually it shall.. they need a hug, kind gentle words, encouragement of the right kind.
There will once again be times of refreshing from our gentle, kind, loving God, but right now we have to be faithful to Him and quit ourselves like men.
Be bold, be strong, trust, soldier on. It will most certainly come to an end and we shall look back with more understand than we have right now!
Chris.

MASTER, THE TEMPEST IS RAGING
(Click to hear music)

Master, the tempest is raging!
The billows are tossing high!
The sky is o'ershadowed with blackness,
No shelter or help is nigh;
Carest Thou not that we perish?
How canst Thou lie asleep,
When each moment so madly is threatening
A grave in the angry deep?

Refrain
The winds and the waves obey Thy will,
Peace, be still!
Whether the wrath of the storm tossed sea,
Or demons or men, or whatever it be
No waters can swallow the ship where lies
The Master of ocean, and earth, and skies;
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, be still! Peace, be still!
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, peace, be still!

Master, with anguish of spirit
I bow in my grief today;
The depths of my sad heart are troubled
Oh, waken and save, I pray!
Torrents of sin and of anguish
Sweep o'er my sinking soul;
And I perish! I perish! dear Master
Oh, hasten, and take control.

Refrain

Master, the terror is over,
The elements sweetly rest;
Earth's sun in the calm lake is mirrored,
And heaven's within my breast;
Linger, O blessed Redeemer!
Leave me alone no more;
And with joy I shall make the blest harbor,
And rest on the blissful shore.

Refrain

Hi Everyone. I can see the sun is shining as I look through the window that is right beside my big computer.  Pat put up curtains in here not too long ago and I had to tie one of the panels with a rubber band so I can see between our house and the neighbor and see a tiny portion of the street.  After all a fellow needs to keep and eye on his neighborhood.  I got up at 4 am again this morning as once again didn't have my bed set just right.  I will eventually get the patterns of up and down with this hospital bed.

I got a lot of things done yesterday and will get quite a few more done today that I can do from my computer at a very slow pace.  My heart seems to have decided to act differently with some pounding in the chest upon exertion rather than angina pain.  I think it ma have to do with the heart valve that the doctor spent a long time listening to on my final appointment with her.  It is taking longer for me to recover my breath and regain a little energy.  At least I am all cleaned up for the day and have had my breakfast and morning pills and am dressed and can now just sit quietly here at my desk and take care  of some things.

Janet, it is hard to believe it is again Bible School time.  I can remember as a child I always looked forward to Bible School and now they really have some good materials to help theme and decorate for it, something that didn't exist many years ago or  the Church I attended couldn't have afforded. I agree that my brain is working as only had that one day of brain fog.  I am happy and content and was thinking this morning how much work has been done and is being done to get things the way I want them and that it would be a shame to not have many more days on this earth to enjoy the efforts.  However, none of this is something I can control. I am the one to have you and all our other fine cyber family as good friends.  I hope you got a lot of hugs from those Great Grandchildren.

Ellie,  glad your hubby and I are quite a lot alike in terms of being able to plan ahead and then be flexible to make adjustments if something doesn't work out like you thought it might.

Judy, thanks for getting us off on a new month of Thoughts for June.  What a wonderful Devotional of Chris Saunders and, in my view, right on target. I don't have my speakers hooked up yet here on my big computer but I have sung and played that song many times over my lifetime.

Carol

Thank you Judy for beginning the month of June.  Also, thank you Chris Saunders for your message.

Our weekend was changed quickly when eldest son and wife came here - to store things in our house and bring a trailer of stuff to their son's storage unit.  They will be back at the end of the month.

Larry:  It is so nice that you have a room set up to your specifications.  Also, you can keep an eye on the neighborhood.  Your messages are strong in faith and so much appreciated.

Off to buy things to fill the fridge.  We had company & family over three days last week.  Love it and also

Janet

I'm about out of energy for the day.  This morning, Darrel asked me what was on our agenda, and I told him I thought we needed to work on making room in the garage for the camper.  So that's what we did.  It entailed quite a lot of work and some heavy lifting that took both of us to accomplish. But we got almost all of it done.  We have a queen sized bed, a refrigerator, a dishwasher and some other items we're looking for homes for, not to sell, but to give to anyone who wants or needs them.  I made several calls, but no luck so far.  The appliances need some repairs, but nothing hard or expensive.

Larry, I hope the pounding in your chest eases up, and that you can feel good and do things you like to do for quite a long time yet!  I know you're ready to go, but we aren't ready for you to leave us yet!

We're worried about finding a route to Florida and back that will let us miss the many flooded areas.  And we're getting more rain tonight, too.

Carol, when parents have extra room, we always seem to wind up storing things for our kids, don't we?  I'm sure you were happy to see your son and his wife!

We had a nice visit with grands and great-grands last night.  The girls are growing up much too quickly!! Eldest will be 12 in September!  Doesn't seem possible!

I'm going to work a bit more on editing George's book, then off to bed!  G'Night!

Hi Everyone.  It seems we have an overcast morning and temps only in the 80's today with a 60% chance of some showers around 3 pm.

It is hard to find the right words to tell you how much better and stronger I feel this morning than I have the last couple of days with no energy and very shaky on my feet.  It felt so good to be able to stand up easily, walk in the kitchen (keeping something close at hand to hold onto as didn't want to get carried away.)  The aid should be here around 10 pm and probably by the time she leaves Pat will be back from her dental appointment.  She will be driving herself there as it is pretty much a straight shot mainly over on I-20.  I will continue to work on a few things left on my list but can take things nice and slow. So life is good and I have nothing to complain about.  I hope you all will experience a similar nice day.  My best friend even called me on Facetime last night right after I had turned out the lights but not gone to sleep and we were able to talk a bit.

Carol, having company does delete the old food supply but being able to share it with our family and friends is always a joy. My mother always put out our best when a neighbor or relative would be there for a meal (but we never went hungry and I don't think my mother knew how to be a less than great cook being a farmer's wife. Nice you have a place your son can store some things.

Janet, I hope you were able to get some good rest last night after all that physical effort but expect you are feeling the impact of doing it today.  I hope you can take it easy and not feel rushed today. I find I get much more joy from giving something away rather than selling it. I always felt that way when I was able to help someone with a computer related problem and never accepted money for it which, if my solution didn't work, they could feel bad at me because I realized there was a whole lot I didn't know about computers and still don't.  As I have written above, this feels like day and night the difference in how I feel today than the last 2 or 3 days.  Are you going back to Florida to bring home the camper or whatever you purchased (can't remember).  I expect most of the Interstates would be OK although you never know.  They are built on a higher plane but obviously that doesn't prevent Mother Nature from doing what nature will do.  Your great grandchildren are certainly growing up quickly.  I well remember when they were born and the joy they brought to everyone (and sure they still do).

I just read this in one of the Devotional I get daily and thought it was really good and wanted to share it with you all today.

The Stranger
 (Author Unknown)

A few months before I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer, and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around to welcome me into the world a few months later.

As I grew up I never questioned his place in our family. Mom taught me to love the Word of God, and Dad taught me to obey it. But the stranger was our storyteller. He could weave the most fascinating tales. Adventures, mysteries, and comedies were daily conversations. He could hold our whole family spellbound for hours each evening. He was like a friend to the whole family.

He took Dad, Bill, and me to our first major league baseball game. He was always encouraging us to see the movies and he even made arrangements to introduce us to several movie stars.

The stranger was an incessant talker. Dad didn't seem to mind, but sometimes Mom would quietly get up - while the rest of us were enthralled with one of his stories of faraway places - go to her room, read her Bible, and pray. I wonder now if she ever prayed that the stranger would leave.

You see, my dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions. But this stranger never felt an obligation to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our house-not from us, from our friends, or adults. Our longtime visitor, however, used occasional four letter words that burned my ears and made Dad squirm. To my knowledge the stranger was never confronted.

My Dad was a teetotaler who didn't permit alcohol in his home - not even for cooking. But the stranger felt like we needed exposure and enlightened us to other ways of life. He offered us beer and other alcoholic beverages often. He made cigarettes look tasty, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely ( too much, too freely) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I know now that my early concepts of the man/woman relationship were influenced by the stranger.

As I look back, I believe it was the grace of God that the stranger did not influence us more. Time after time he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked and never asked to leave.

More than thirty years have passed since the stranger moved in with the young family on Morningside Drive. But if I were to walk into my parents' den today, you would still see him sitting over in a corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name?.....We always just called him...TV.

Carol

Larry:  Good post!  We notice how television is more and more tasteless and we will not even watch the so-called nightime comedians.  They are not funny - just crude and I really dub them hateful as well.  Why people laugh over anything they say - it is the dumbing down of society.

It is just wonderful to read that you are feeling better today - prayers for you and Pat!

...oh yes tv, thank heavens we have a turn off or change channel button...Do you remember Mary Whitehouse CBE? She launched the Clean Up TV Campaign in January 1964..She passed away November 2001 (aged 91)
We need a Mary Whitehouse today...

Greetings Carol  You are so right about how television is becoming crude.  Comedians have to use the naughty words to make a joke funny, it seems, but by the laughter some people seem to enjoy it.  Tasteless it is to me!

Rebot

Greetings Jackie  You are right, that if we don't like some television programmes, we have the turn off button.  Mrs Whitehouse was a splendid lady, but sometimes she complained about programmes, that did not deserve it.  Do you remember the BBC's Wednesday plays, one was Cathy Come Home which she complained about.  It proved a huge hit, as it told the story of what life could be for some people who faced hard times in the 1960's and how little help was given to them.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see your long message and your positive attitude.

..yes I do remember that film, Cathy Come Home, Carol White..I saw it at the cinema many years ago...Hard to believe I was 15 when that film came out...

Hi Everyone.  We have another overcast morning and expecting a high around 90 degrees this afternoon with a lower than 50% of some popup showers. I got up a little after 4 am this morning but had gotten about 5 hours of good sleep.  So far my sleep has been limited to about 2 hours at a time and then a quick trip to the bathroom is required.

As I read all the posting in the three discussions I follow I noted that things seemed to have really improved from what we were talking about yesterday and sure glad to see it.  While probably not as peppy today as I was yesterday I still am getting around using the rollator.  I have had breakfast, downloaded an operating system update for my iPad and iPhone, am all dressed and done a few other chores.  I see the rest of the day as a very restful one.

I started to listen to an audio book last evening that I had downloaded but realized I was too tired so shut it off and will restart listening later today or this evening.  Yesterday was a very productive day and a great day for me as I only used the wheelchair to get up to my big computer and used the Rollator the rest of the day.  I felt much strongly and it felt very good to walk, which I did quite a bit of.  I did a number of telephone calls including one to the SimpliSafe Home Security System folks as their great sale and special offers were expiring at midnight.  I got it all ordered and this time no hold was placed on the transaction as a security measure.  The good news is that I will end up paying less than I had thought when I first talked to them.  The have a panic feature that you can push a button to call for help and so I won't need to get a separate Life Alert to wear.  I actually am buying the equipment for the system and then the monthly monitoring charge is only $25/month.  This will be a project for my BIL when he visits in a few weeks.  So that was two things taken care of at once.  I got some changes started on some other accounts via online but will need to do a little more on that.

Scott texted me last night saying he would like to come out and have lunch with Pat and I and then expect he will go home and rest until evening when he and the girls will be here.

Carol, I agree with you on how tasteless some of the so called comedy on TV has become.  I prefer the old program that you wouldn't be embarrassed to sit and watch with your kids.  A number of years ago on a visit we were making in Missouri my niece and her then husband wanted to treat Pat and I and we went to a "comedy" club. I didn't enjoy a minute of it as the "comedy" was so crude and vulgar and I was very glad when it was over for the evening.  I know we all know the words we are hearing and I don't consider myself a prude, but have never liked swearing or foul language.  I just chose in my life to use my vocabulary to express myself and stay away from using four or vulgar or using the Lord's name in vain.  It has served me well.  In all the years I have been active in the morning men's coffee groups I have never found that these men needed to resort to lewd or vulgar language.  I think all of the men are Christians and many were war veterans and just super guys.  Thanks for the prayers for Pat and I. I try to pray for all of our cyber family dealing with problems of various kinds as well as just asking for God's guidance in my life and that I spend time in meditation so I may hear that still small voice providing the guidance.

Jackie, I do remember Mary Whitehouse although couldn't have recalled her name.  There are not several groups working to rate TV and movies.  Over here it appears that those with some religious slant are making the money for the companies and not the filth.

Ellie, obviously some people do like the naughty words.  It is quite an education to walk in the malls and I am sure in many of our schools and listen to how the students speak. However, I have no current knowledge as haven't been to a mall to walk around in a long time.  I really don't believe in censorship because that is letting someone else make the decisions for us.  One of our rights in the USA has long been the freedom of speech, religion, etc. and it appears these are quickly being taken away because a few people are offended.  I just wonder what these young folks entering the labor market are going to do when there is no safe spot provided. Pat and I are both very fond of BBC television programming and using our headphones helps us understand what is being spoken.  I had intended to be brief in my postings today but see I have missed the mark already.

I hope you all have a blessed day.

Rebot

Greetings Jackie  Do you remember that Ray Brooks was in Cathy Come Home, as well as Geoffrey Palmer.  And Ray Brooks was the voice of Mr Benn, who  appeared in book form as well as animated series on BBC.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  It seems for some, naughty words are part of some peoples everyday language, not mine I must say.  There has to be some form of censorship, in particular with film scenes, as the modern day films can be embarrassing for a number of people to watch.  As for the spoken word, censorship cannot be applied, unless it crosses the line of decency.  In the UK and the Isle of Man, we also maintain they freedom of speech and that freedom should never be taken away from us.  Splendid post today from you Larry.

Janet

Good morning!  I have certainly had a different kind of morning from any previous one!
I have already been to the doctor!  :-\ I realized early (really early) this morning that I have another UTI, and want to be rid of it before we leave for Florida.  My doctor very kindly had given me her cell number and told me she's always at the office by 7:30 and to call her anytime I need to...so I did!  I couldn't get the prescription yet because the drug store wasn't yet open!

Yes, I agree about the foul language. When we were growing up, about the worst words we heard were 'hell' or 'damn', and how I wish that was the worst we heard now!  Darrel was watching a movie last week when I came in, and the main character couldn't speak one sentence without using the F word at least twice in it.  VERY POOR vocabulary. I despise that word!!  Well, I'm sure we are all in agreement on this subject!

It's time for me to go paint, but I'm waiting for an email that Darrel needs me to print for him (he says he doesn't know how!) before I leave. Something he needs to sign and get in the mail today... So instead of being early today, looks like I'll be late.  It's okay.

Larry, your upbeat and cheery messages make my heart smile!!  Blessings to you and Pat.

Carol, there are a lot of TV shows we just won't watch any more.  We surely were enjoying watching Jeopardy while James Holzhauer was winning!  I think there was something "funny" about his losing on Monday...Just didn't seem quite right somehow.  The young lady who 'beat' him seems to not have nearly as good an attitude as James has.  We will see, huh?  We saw that over half his winnings are being taken by taxes!  Still, over one million dollars to keep, for such a short time of "work" is something most (or none) of us will ever see!

Hello, Ellie and Jackie!  Good to read your posts this morning!

I'll see now if that email has come!  TTYL!!

Hi Everyone.  It is another cloudy day today and we actually had some rain last evening and brief showers during the night.  Finally some cooler weather.  Scott and the girls were out yesterday afternoon and ate dinner with us and basically finished up the few remaining tasks that can be done.  I am still awaiting the grab bars and have to order the floor covering I want since Lowe's only carries the smaller width.

I didn't sleep very well last night and spent several hour in further organization of my desk and tray table.  I probably got 4 hours of sleep but got up early feeling better than yesterday and I have been walking and standing a lot this morning.  Scott had to take his car to the garage for some repair and when he gets through he will be out.  I hope to have him take me to the Credit Union so I can cash the first of the savings bonds.  I am going to access my safe deposit box and everything in a tote bag to bring home and inventory and then we will go back at the first of the week.  We will also stop at Wendy's to take advantage of the fifty cent Frostie and may bring some home to put in the freezer.  That will be plenty for today.

We did give Elizabeth the new Chromebook last evening and she was surprised and from what she told Pat no one had ever done something like that for her before.  It gave Pat and I great pleasure to give her the gift to help her with her college work that she is doing online and I know that I won't be around to see her graduate.  She needs the tools now not when she graduates.

Ellie, I have never understood why we have to see everything in films so graphically.  We do have film ratings over here but anything goes on cable.

Janet, glad you have acted quickly to deal with your medical situation.  Hope the medicine clears it up quickly.  When do you plan to leave for Florida? Like you I despise the "F" word.  Scott got both our laser printers online and working yesterday evening.  I have a B&W one here in my "man cave" and the color laser is still in where I had my office.  I am glad you find some of the things I write to make your heart smile.  It was inevitable that James on Jeopardy would eventually lose.  He will be back with the opportunity to win more money in some of their tournaments.  The young lady that beat him is very smart and deserved to win.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid seeing your post today.  Busy here with with computer work, as I write my letters on the desktop computer, instead of hand writing them now!

Janet

Happy Thursday to you all!

I have an eye appointment at 1:00, until then, I am working of laundry, a few cleaning chores, and starting my packing for the trip.

Larry, we plan to leave Monday morning for Florida.
I had been worrying about the trip, Darrel's driving long hours, the flooding, traffic, etc. but the Lord reminded me that He goes with us everywhere we go and is always there to protect and guide.  We only need to ask! Now I'm feeling much better about it!

I am enjoying watching the coverage of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.  Having just been there on Omaha beach a short time ago makes it much more real to me. It's so sad that thousands and thousands of young men lost their lives in that campaign, but war is always hell.  We need to be diligent in praying for our President, military and leaders, and the voting public in our country!!  ("Nuff said!)

Larry, glad Elizabeth appreciated the Chromebook.
I told Darrel that if we use the camper like we should, I want a small laptop computer to take along.  This huge Mac isn't going anywhere!  ;)

Darrel just got back from a trip out to Dollar
General.  He thought of something he thought he needed!  ;)

Ellie, very few people write even friendly letters by hand anymore.  Well, they write very few letters, period!  A hand written letter is a gift, these days!
Then again, if you write to a young person in cursive, they may not even be able to read it!!

Greetings Janet  Enjoy your trip to Florida, we have only been there once, a few years ago.  Our thoughts are with you on your travels.

I prefer to hand write letters, but technology sees most of us on the old keyboard.

Hi Everyone.   We are to have some showers over the next few hours and cooler temperatures.  Scott will be here later this morning to take me to our bank to take care of some business.  I had a rather strange night as was tired when I retired around 8:30 last evening and got some needed sleep in short increments.  Then about 1 am I realized I wasn't likely to get anymore sleep so I got up and good got cleaned up and dressed for the day.  I worked away at sorting out old records and getting correspondence ready and then filed away.  I got a lot done and finally around 5 am realized I was pretty tired again so laid back down and slept for another couple of hours.

I don't like to write anything too personal that others might be offended by but just can't help myself this morning.  Hospice brought in a potty chair to use in my bathroom and that is the most uncomfortable piece of equipment I think I have ever encountered.  It must have been designed by the devil to make a persons life more miserable.  I am going to ask the nurse today about getting a larger commode as don't see how anyone of much size could even fit into the one I have.  I know this isn't one of life's more serious problems but it does take on importance at these times of our lives.

I have nothing else planned for today and Scott will be working again tonight.  He has finally, at long last, decided he must have the carpal tunnel surgery.  His hand and arm has been dumb and tingling for a long time.  He tried to open a can of something last evening at dinner time and created extreme pain for himself.  He did get his car back from the shop around 4 pm and he said he didn't realize how bad it needed attention and now drove like a new car.

One last little telling on myself.  When I had been busy buying what I needed to set up this "man cave" I had picked out an office chair to use here at my big computer as the arms of the wheelchair or the rollator get in the way of typing.  I thought the chair should be here by now but yesterday when I looked at the Office Depot site where I had bought the chair I decided that I had it waiting in the shopping cart so had never placed the order.  That has now been corrected and the chair should be here soon.

Ellie, I can't remember the last time I prepared a letter in handwriting and however I sent it to is probably still trying to read it as my hand writing is terrible. I plan on using Facebook and the Messenger feature a lot more but will have to do some study to better understand it.

Janet, you sure are right about war being hell.  However, nations must protect themselves or they won't have a nation.  I sure would recommend you check out the Chromebook.  It is small and has no maintenance.  There are thousands of Google apps free in the Play store and there is no maintenance required as you save nothing on your local computer but in the Google cloud.  They do all the maintenance and dealing with viruses etc and it is a great idea and one that is fast approaching for regular computers.

Janet

Larry, thanks so much for the advice re the Chromebook!  I will check into that! I hope they bring you a different potty chair asap!! There is no reason for you to be uncomfortable in any way that can so easily be prevented!

I had the carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand, and oh, what a relief!  The surgery is rather simple, but makes such a big difference.  I imagine if it has been postponed a long time, it might be a bit harder to recover from, though.  Give Scott my best wishes on that situation!

Larry, since you were talking about preferring to give things away rather than sell them, I wanted to share that as we were getting the garage cleaned out, making room for our new "playhouse", I called every place I could think of, locally, to offer some things we wanted to give away.  No takers!  Then, the next day I got a call from our pastor.  He asked if we had a bed we wanted to donate (He was one of those I had called.) I said "YES!!  Then, he hesitantly asked if I had some sheets for it.  I said "yes, and I will find some pillows and blankets, too."  He and the pastor of the Church of Christ came out to get the things, loaded them, then Pastor Todd asked, "Uhhh....do you have anything to sit on?"  I asked him to wait a minute while I conferred with Darrel, who was standing right there. I asked him if he wanted to give away the bench seat from our old van, which we'd been using as a couch, when we had family reunions, etc.  It folds down flat, so could be used as a bed or a couch.  He agreed, so I found two small pillows and more blankets for that.  Pastor said this lady's husband had died, she has two young daughters 3 1/2 years old, and has NOTHING. She moved here to live with a friend, then the friend left and moved somewhere else.  I offered some skillets, pans, dishes, etc., but he said he would inquire about those things first. Anyway, it is a blessing to be able to bless someone, and I do hope those things help this young family.

I talked to my sister Doris this morning, and she said she is in terrible pain, her cancer is really ramping up; so I must really bear down in prayer for my dear sister.  She's ready to go, but I don't want her to have to suffer before she goes.  :'(

I  have almost all my packing done.  Now I'm concerned we may have to come home sooner; depending on how Doris does.  God is in control!

I'd better stop, before this gets so long nobody wants to read it!  Sorry!  :-[

Thunder is in the area and the typical afternoon showers and storms are gathering.  That is what it is when you live close to the mountains.

We are back from the older VA building where there were only 4   people in the waiting room.  This is the worst waste of taxpayer money I have ever seen.  The new building does not have room for primary care doctors - they couldn't get that fixed in how many years???   Just burning up the money now.

Larry:  Laughing at your chair being designed by the devil.  Is there no one on earth with common sense?  I do hope Scott has success with carpel tunnel surgery.  Don's surgery was OK for some time - now, they talk about something else.  It takes a long time to heal.  Scott has enough on his plate - bless his heart!

Ellie I dated Don for 6 weeks - he was in the Air Force - then I was sent to Washington DC for work and we wrote for 9 months.  Letters are the best way of getting to really know someone - in my opinion.   :)

Janet:  Prayers for Doris - keeping pain under control.  Giving your extra stuff away is so sweet and generous.  There are so many people hurting - I see it in the high rent prices and food and gas have gone up too.  Only the affluent don't notice the cost of living going up.

I will say - "It will all work out".  Somehow, it always does.  "It'll be alright".  Safe travel.

Just testing, testing, we are having alterations again on our site and when I clicked on Oldiesmanns links I wasn't getting anywhere...hope when changes are done I can still get in to post...I was up till late last night playing around with a couple of separate photos of me and Richard, dont know how I managed it in the end but after a lot of playing around, photocopying two separate photos together, then using my PSP programme followed by resizing, then placing them in image shack photo storage..managed to join two together as one...then printing them on photo paper on my printer, I have now placed one in an oak photo frame in the living room along with the photos of my three dogs and the dogs ashes containers and a vase of flowers..and now you see the photo of the two of us as my avatar...I am trying to make it a tad larger..

AS I SIT HERE SAFE IN HEAVEN...( for all who are going through a grieving process as I am..)

To many I am forgotten
Just a sad story from the past
but to those that love and lost me
the memories will always last

As I sit here safe in heaven
and watch you everyday
I try and let you know with signs
I never went away...

I hear you when your speaking
and watch you as you sleep
I even place my arms around you
to calm you as you weep

I see you wish the days away
as you beg to have me home
so I try and send you messages
that you are not alone

Don't feel guilty that you have a life
that was denied to me
oh, heaven is truly beautiful,
just you wait and see

Please live your life and laugh again
Enjoy yourself, be free!
Then I'll know with every breath you take
you're taking one for me...

Hi everyone.  It is now 5 am and still very dark outside.  We did have a much cooler day here yesterday and some rain on and off with some heavy rains nearby.  By midday we have a good chance of getting more rain.

It was a very strange day and night last night.  The nurse was here around noon and after seeing my feet and legs got hold of the doctor and they put me on 60 mg of Lasik and boy did it work.  I am to keep my feet up about the height of my head.  Throughout the rest of the afternoon, evening and until 3 am when I got up to do my email and message boards I made many trips to the bathroom, about 30 minutes apart.  I also could go back to sleep, even if for such a brief time.  I did feel rested when I got an now here at my desk I apparently fell asleep sitting in my wheelchair.  I don't remember ever going to sleep at my desk nor being able to do so in my easy chair.  I guess things are now well under control or they are completed that I can truly relax, which I plan on doing all weekend. I know of nothing else on the agenda for the weekend and that is just the way I want it, although sure wouldn't turn away a friend from the door.  Pat needs a couple of days of rest as well.

Janet, the nurse indicated I was probably stuck with the potty chair they brought me so I will give it no more concern.  I am going to try to call them today about getting  a quad cane.  We have an old one we  have used to hold our shower door open but I wasn't able to adjust it.  I am not sure they are open on Saturday.  I think because Scott's wife had the carpal tunnel surgery and it really wasn't very successful he has been afraid to have it done.  The pain and numbness he has experienced for so long has finally reached  the point where he now will have it done.  I have known many people who have had it done most successful, including my folks. It is getting hard to find places to take donations.  I found a place in Atlanta called the "Atlanta Mission" that would take anything and we gave a lot of stuff away to them when we moved 20 years ago.  I also had called them when Stacey passed away but when we and they got to her apartment the remaining things, that we planned to donate, at been cleaned out by the apartment management.  Here in North Augusta, 22 churches have gone together to create a Community Ministries and they do not refuse any donations. How awesome is God to put what you wanted to donate to use by someone who needs it.  Good work. It does make our hearts feel good when we can help out someone else.  So sorry your sister is now having so much pain from the cancer.

Carol, government has never been know for saving money and often don't really do things very well as they are bogged down in so my regulation, laws, etc. and none of them, although they talk a good game, are really interested in saving money.  I worked with this for most of my 33 years of working.  If you didn't spend everything you were allotted in a given year then you were penalized the next year.  I know they from experience and after trying to save money I decided I just hurt the people who worked for our Region and so after that I saw to it that we utilized whatever was allocated to us.  Scott told me he spent a lot of time researching the Carpal Tunnel situation the other night and discovered they now call it the Carpal Tunnel release.  Scott has quite a lot of leave he can use and usually loses using it because he won't take a vacation.  The job he does he probably will be able to do as he deals with the customers. You are so right that things someway always turn out right but at the time it may seem they are not.  We are not a patient people and God acts according to his time table.

Ellie, thanks.  Yesterday and last night were great. Pat and I wrote many letters to each other before we married, especially during the summer where she was 100 miles away.  I know that Pat still has a shoebox full of them but I sure have no desire to read them.

Jackie, it sounds like you did a great job with the photos.  I am not sure you can make the avatar any bigger here.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  I keep anything that hubby sent me, not sure he has kept many things I sent him.  Us ladies do tend to place a lot of importance to letters or gifts from our menfolk.  Now will a gentlemen tell me off for that statement.

It is splendid seeing your long posts.

Rebot

Greetings Jackie  Splendid seeing your photo of you and Richard. I have tried to enlarge it on software hubby has on his desktop computer, but it won't enlarge for me.

Jacqueline

Ellie...
...thank you for giving the enlargement a go...I was playing around with photos into the late-early hours of last night, I have more photos of varying sizes that I could still play around with but this avatar photo size is doable so I shall probably just accept it.....

I got up and did a few things this morning, then went to the church to help with a funeral dinner.  Was there from 9 until 1:30!!  This guy passed away in January, under suspicious circumstances; there was an autopsy, but I don't know what was found.
He was only 50 years old, the son of a couple of long-time church members.  They had his inurnment out at an old country cemetery which the family has been using for generations.  Then they came to fellowship Hall and ate dinner; after we took the plates, etc., off, we brought out big trays of cookies for them.  Not sure what was to happen after I left, but my back and legs were hurting from all the standing and lifting.  They weren't having any of the service in the sanctuary.  Different.

Jackie, I have NO IDEA how to do what you did with photos on the computer!!  Good for you!  Glad to see you coming in more often again!

Larry, is it too far for you to walk to the bathroom, so you can avoid the "torture potty?"  Glad they got the extra fluids off, so you can feel better.  Hospice is wonderful!

HI, CAROL!  Oops on the caps...always good to read your posts.

I'm signing off now, want to watch the news!

Hi everyone on what will probably be another really rainy but cooler day here in South Carolina.  Our high today is to be 82 with 100% chance of Thunderstorms around 7 pm this evening with still high chances throughout the rest of the day.  I have no plans of getting outside the house today so unless we lose power I really won't be impacted.  Yesterday afternoon around 5 pm the company that provides the medical equipment was here to deliver a claw footed cane for me to use (and it really helps assure I have good balance before taking another step.)  It was pouring rain here when he called a few minutes earlier but by the time the man got here to deliver the cane it had stopped.  He told me it had been a rough day making deliveries as he rain into many flooded roads around this area.

I had a great Facetime call yesterday from a man I have long known and we worked together over the years.  We recalled old memories and am sure we will be talking fairly often.  The Facetime is really good.  I do hope to get to speak with my best friend over in Grayson later today as it has been several days.  I spent the day just working on small projects, writing a letter to mail ( :o who doesn't have a computer) and writing several emails.  I reworked the medicine sheet we use with my pill boxes to record all the info from the medicine bottles.  I take a lot of medicine but after some manipulations I finally got every thing to print on one sheet. I did get the new sandals I had ordered but feet still to swollen to be able to adjust the straps but am hopeful that Scott can put in another hole closer to the end of the strap.

Ellie, I agree with you about women valuing letters and gifts perhaps more than men do although know it is an individual thing.  When I emptied our safe deposit box at the Credit Union the other day I found some old papers that relate to Pat's family that we thought had been lost during our move when a brief case didn't show up when we unpacked things here in South Carolina. I don't seem to know how to write very much short but am planning on using Facebook and Messenger to be a little more terse in my comments.  However, I will probably try to continue with longer postings here in the discussions as want to share things with my friends.

Jackie, sometimes better to accept the givens like the size of the Avatars rather than spend a lot of time.  However, there is an old and free program I have long used called Irfanview that makes it easy to reduce the size of photos.  I have used it many times in the past to make large photos fit the photo criteria here in our early day discussions. You just make the settings you want to use and the program does the rest.  I need to remember to use this program myself as just yesterday took pictures around my "man cave" and know they are way too large to be emailing.

Janet, many traditions are changing quickly and the lack of a funeral service in your sanctuary is one of them.  I know when Stacey died our minister said he was willing to work with us anyway possible.  We elected to have a beautiful "Celebration of Life".  It must be terrible for the poor parents to bear the loss of their son and then to have the death perhaps involve suspicious circumstances. I know you always want to be helpful wherever you can but perhaps it is time to let the younger folks pick up more of the load with such things as the lunch your Church provided.  However, providing the lunch is a wonderful thing for the family and friends and is certainly a great thing as it allows relatives, who perhaps one hasn't seen in a long time, to have a time to visit and recall their past experiences with the deceased.  These things are a bit hard to do in a restaurant setting. My bathroom is only about 10 steps and with the claw cane I can plant it and move my two feet a short distance and repeat the process usually where I am close enough to grab onto the door jambs or something solid . I am very careful as sure don't want another fall.  It  However, when I leave this area I will likely use the wheelchair as it provides a lot more safety. It really takes me a long time to do anything compared to how I use to do things in the past. I find using the urinal at the bedside to work best for me right now because with this Lasix it seems to be a job that has to be done about every 25 minutes or so, just when I get settled in bed or am started on something I am working on with the computers.  However, certainly no complaints as want to get this fluid off.

Janet

Hello, much later in the day than usual!

The combined churches Bible School program this morning was so wonderful!  Five of our local churches worked together, and all 5 pastors were on the platform together today, playing instruments and leading some songs!  The kids sang their peppy songs they learned in VBS, complete with all the cute actions.  And two of the pastors told a couple of the Bible story lessons they taught the kids.  Just wonderful to have this spirit of fellowship, brotherhood and camaraderie!  And just think!  When we get to heaven, we won't have any denominational barriers at all anymore!!  :D

We drove over to Hugoton to the kids to load up some stuff Mark has decided he wants us to bring him. All this time, he's been saying the only thing he wanted us to bring was his mail!! Well, his mail really gained a lot of weight--he wanted  boxes and boxes of heavy parts and other things.  It barely fit into the pickup bed with our things we had loaded for the camper.  But we're happy to be able to take it--after all, we are going to his place anyway!  ;)

Larry, good to read that you had a nice facetime visit, and that things continue shaping up in your "man cave."

I'm much too tired, as didn't get to sleep until around two this morning.  I couldn't find my bottle of CBD oil, and didn't want to take pain pills.  Finally got up and found the oil after 1:00.  Gotta keep that stuff handy!

I will try to stay in touch, but haven't had much luck doing that on my phone.  Leaving early in the morning; plan to be home around the 20th.

Love and blessings to each of you!

Hi everyone on what is probably going to be another rainy and cool day here in my part of South Carolina.  The morning looks like it will be calm but thundershowers are predicted for the afternoon.  Yesterday I heard that an area near here had up to 7 inches of rain and we had only a little less than 1 inch.

This morning my activities were not as they have been for several days.  I actually slept about 15 minutes longer and got up around close to 4 am.  I got cleaned up and dressed for the day then decided to lay back down and use my iPhone to read my emails, devotionals, and to read through the postings since yesterday on the CP and S&F sites.  The iPhone is so handy.  I then had my breakfast and am now settled in front of my big computer, probably for most all of the morning since I don't take another Lasix until lunch time and found the fluid is still coming off without having to keep my feet elevated above my heart level in the mornings.  I will get my feet elevated during the PM hours with oxygen being used and so can enjoy a nice quiet afternoon and evening.

If I keep gushing about feeling better daily I hope you are seeing me as some kind of Pollyanna as I am also realistic.  But I just have to share how much better I am feeling.  I am beginning to see the results of the Lasix but know there is still a long way to go.  Yesterday afternoon I stepped on my scales and found it registered 180 pounds whereas I had started out at 215 pounds.  I am certain another probably 20 or 30 pounds is due to this fluid buildup.  I am stronger this morning and just know it is going to be a wonderful day.  Around 1 pm the man that heads the ramp building committee will be here to check out our situation and I should know whether the committee will build one for us, but I am very optimistic they will.  I pay all of the out of pocket for the committee plus make a generous donation back to that committee or to wherever they ask for the money to go.  Then my new office chair is to be delivered sometime today and I hope it is morning.

Yesterday my 1st cousin, who was Pat's best friend growing up and college roommate and had introduced Pat and I in college (the rest is history) called me.  We had a wonderful chat and she has Facetime so sure we will be staying in touch better than we have in years.  Later I wrote to my boyhood best friend to get the phone number of his first wife (and mother of his oldest son).  She was the one and only girl in our Senior Class of six in high school and I haven't had any contact with her for over 20 years and want to reestablish our friendship as she is a very lovely lady.  Our good neighbor stopped by and gave Pat some home grown tomatoes yesterday.  I was resting at the time and so didn't get to visit with him but we have had some good conversations and I know he will be back over.

I have decided to start using the Edge Microsoft browser and the related programs like Mail on all of my computers.  I am finding it interesting to set up and it gives me something new to learn.  Guess I have rattled on long enough for this morning.

Janet, our Bible School is yet to occur and the Church is also having a variety of different summer camps for our young children throughout the summer.  It is a good outreach to the community and is not limited to our Church families only. You are right I expect we may be pretty ashamed in Heaven over some of our denominational barriers.  A few days ago I had a lovely card from a fellow I had worked with over the years and he is a Catholic.  He included in his beautiful card a little note hoping I wouldn't be offended by the tone of the card.  I had written him an email and then, I think it was yesterday, he called me on Facetime and we had a great time recalling our work past.  I actually think he may have been one of the trainees I had over the years but my memory fails on that matter and it is of no consequence.  We always liked each other and still do.  It sounds like your pickup truck held just the right amount of things Mark wanted and what you need to take.  I doubt you will see this posting for awhile since I see you are leaving for Florida this morning.  I sure hope you can avoid any of these storms and flooding here in the SE.  However, I am sure you won't take any chances.  It sounds like you might want to tie a string on the CBD oil so it doesn't get lost to you again.  Glad it is helping you and think it is something worthwhile for Pat to look into. If you can't get your iPhone to work as you would like you have some of our phone numbers and you can always give me or someone else a quick call so we can here from you these next 10 days.

Ellie, glad you checked in.  I believe it isn't the content or length of our postings that are really important but the maintenance of contact with our wonderful cyber friends.

Carol

My yearly physical was this morning.  I have one dermatologist issue to take care of and they want me to go downtown.  Now I have to find someone in the suburbs who will take my insurance.  Always something.  Thankful that it is the only & a little issue.

It is a cool day and tomorrow begins the heat.  Very worrisome for floods & slides in the mountains.  Meanwhile, the scenery is awesome.

I have been setting aside an hour per day cutting fabric and sewing little things for the fall church bazaar.  Also, reading a nice book by Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham's daughter.  I recommend it (especially the first part) for anyone who has lost a loved one.

Garth Brooks had a concert at the Mile High Stadium and several storms stayed away.  84,000 people were able to watch the show.  We didn't go.  :coffee:

Janet:  Safe travels to Florida and back.  I hope you will get a lot of use out of the new trailer.

PS.  Because my blood sugar was so good, I came home and ate the last Snickerdoodle cookie.   ^-^

Yes I have returned home, What a day yesterday. Our flight from SF to home because plane was delayed 4 hours, 3 of those late coming in from Fresno, and one  0ne on the tarmac getting a repair, we were in the plane for that hour. To top that off, Saturday I came down with a cold and yesterday I was absolutely miserable, couldn't get home fast enough.

As soon as the cab dropped us off I stuck every thing in  the bedroom and  went to pick up Freckles. She was so  happy to see me. My friend who took care of her had to have her own 16 yr old miniature Border Collie put down one day last week. So Sad.  We should have been home by 1:15 but didn't land until 5 pm.

I went to bed at 7 pm. I had not been asleep since  around 3 am Saturday I was dead tired and miserable with my head all stuffed up I couldn't even hear very well. I feel a little better today. but I  have a Dr. appt today 3 to check the lump on one of the lymph glands.

Hi everyone on an overcast and there is but a little chance of rain today with it staying in the mid-80's range.

Today is the day the aid comes to help me with my bath.  I have everything set up ready to go and know she is one busy lady. This has been an exciting morning for me.  A few days ago I got a second pair of sandals, this time with straps that would adjust but I still couldn't get them on my swollen feet.  Will this morning I tried again and they fit onto my feet.  They are cheap and firmly things and I plan on sending them back.  I am hopeful that I can now get on my house slippers and not have to buy sandals.  There was a discussion just yesterday in Seniors and Friends so I plan on looking back today and noting the companies that have good sandals so I can check them out.  I am more than ready to start getting out of the house and told Pat when she goes somewhere I will go along and find a corner to read or listen to my book and then she won't have to worry about going off and leaving me.  Scott's schedule was changed this week to have today and tomorrow off although he may have to work this evening.  He plans on coming out later this morning after picking up a big grocery order for his mother from the Walmart online ordering.

I did meet with the man who heads up our Churches ramp team and he is going to build a ramp for us but it probably will be in mid-July and he has some other commitments and members of his team may be away for a vacation, etc.  We can certainly get by until then.  Then my new office chair was delivered by Office Depot and they just put it on the front porch and Pat had to get the box inside the house.  Fortunately it wasn't too heavy.  I expect delivery of several things today.  Yesterday afternoon a lady from our Sunday School class called saying she was bringing us dinner.  Pat hadn't started anything and the call and meal was most welcome.  In fact she brought enough food for more than one meal.

Carol, it sounds like you had a successful physical and I expect you will be able to find someone who will take your insurance. Does your insurance company help find the doctor that accepts your insurance? I hope it doesn't get too hot out your way today.  I haven't read the Anne Graham Lotz book but am aware of it.  I would want to stay out of a crowd of 84,000 people also as traffic must have been a nightmare.  I will just listen to him sing on Spotify and save big time money and trying to find a place to park, etc.  Pat made a big bunch of Chocolate Chip cookies yesterday and just spread them out on a sheet and then cut them in bars.  Sure better for her than standing and putting out droplet of cookies and they taste just the same.

Marilyn, sorry your nice trip had to end so miserably with the delays and now the cold.  I sure hope today finds you feeling better.  I hope Keith and your other family enjoyed your trip.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  A cooler day on the Isle of Man, or in Manx Ellan Vannin, I am trying to learn some of the Manx Language.

Carol

Larry:I am glad that you can find some sandals to keep you steady on your feet.  So important.  How super nice that the church has a group to make a ramp for you.  It will be so much safer.  Yes, I couldn't tolerate a huge crowd like that - I wonder where all the cars parked?  How about using the stadium bathrooms?  I always think of practical things  :) Great idea for Pat to bake a pan of cookie dough and slice them into bars.  Snickerdoodles have to be rolled in cinnamon and sugar but I could just sprinkle them on top.

Don is off to the VA again this morning for a scan on his hand.  I am waiting for someone to fix our downstairs fireplace.  It won't be used for a long time but it really does get chilly in the walk-out basement.  The house is built on slanted land and has a full wall towards trees and open space - so nice to sew down there with a view south sun.

Tomorrow, we will take lunch with youngest son and wife.  They just returned from a long trip to Scotland.  She has summer off and he works for a company that tells him he has to take a sabbatical time off - many weeks.  I never worked for anyone that generous.

Marilyn: I hope you are feeling better every day - take time to mend.

Rebot:  Good day Ellie!  I cannot tell you the name of the television show that showed fantastic pictures of your part of the world and it is so lush,  green and beautiful.  It makes us want to take a walk on any of the paths.  So peaceful.

Judy:  Thinking of you today - sending up a prayer for  you and the family.

Marilyn

Larry you sound like you are feeling so much better and able to write your long posting again. It is greaty that church has a team that builds ramps. It must be a big church.

Hello Carol, Ellie, Jackie and Janet.

Judy I tried to go back to before this thread was started to see what I missed and was unable to find any sort of link to take me there.

I am going to be having an Ultrasound on the Lymph nodes behind my ears, although only one is enlarged I amalso due for my yearly Mammogram, the hospital will be contacting me for the Ultrasound and the Women's Imaging center for the Mammogram.

The Kauai trip was really nice although pretty hot weather wise. Gilbert had a friend who use to live there so he  contacted hom to ask about free activities for us to  do. The tourist activities are all over $100, per person.  So did did our self tours, no boat rides or helicopter tours, No Luau. Still Had a great time and ate good food. Keith did prefer not to do the walking that we did so he either sat in the car or stayed at the condo.

Hi everyone.  It is only a little after 6 am and still dark outside my window here by my desk.  We had a very nice day here yesterday and the rain stayed away.  It does look like we have a really good chance of rain throughout the day but our temps should remain nice.

I had an interesting night, if a bit scary.  I use a password program called Last Pass and have for years.  It has one Master Password that remains only in your knowledge and cannot be recovered if lost.  They use very strong military type encryption and I have tons of not only passwords but other related information stored in Last Pass. Last night while doing something it suggested it was time to change the password.  This I did but obviously didn't get the process completed and it appeared for a time that I would lose all of the passwords and other information I have stored in Last Pass.  Finally I can upon an email that showed how to revert back to the old password and that is what I did and didn't lose a thing.  I was very relived.

Yesterday my new office chair for the computer arrived and Elizabeth stopped over and started to put it together only to find out it hadn't been assembled correctly.  So we are taking it back to Office Depot locally ASAP for a refund.  This chair, like a steno chair, had no arms and it dawned on me during the night that what I had was a disaster waiting to occur as it would be so easy to fall from it.  Then I remembered I had used one of our dinette chairs as my office chair in the past so rolled one of them into my office and it is going to work perfectly and I don't need to buy another chair.  I hope we can take the chair back for a refund later this morning and while there I want to get a blue tooth adapter for my TV and then I am going to give myself a Father's Day gift of a good pair of blue tooth headphones just to use with the TV.  I have a couple of pair of inexpensive small ear bud type head gear and each will be dedicated to a separate device.

I expect Scott to be here fairly early this morning.  Pat has arranged with a friend to pick her up here at the house to take her to her crafts activities at the Church later this morning.  I plan on using my walker today at the Credit Union and Office Depot rather than having to have Scott deal with the transport chair for our outing and if I play it right we can still get some ARBY's sandwiches to bring home for lunch. After the busy morning I will probably crash this afternoon as I have been doing most afternoons and evening.

Carol, I can now wear my house slippers, which have a rubberized type sole and are much better than the sandals.  I wear them without socks and the sweat pants hides that fact.  Scott has finally decided he must get his carpal tunnel situation taken care of soon. That must be some company that your son works for and also his wife.

Marilyn, we do have a pretty large Church but don't know the membership.  It is very mission oriented and they go out two different times of the year to help those who cannot afford to help themselves in building ramps, fixing rotten flooring or roofs and sometimes actually replacing plumbing or fixtures that are beyond normal repair.  Glad that Keith enjoyed the trip even if he sat in the car or stayed at the condo.

I find myself trying to fall asleep here in my easy chair.  Time for sleep later.

Carol

Back from picking up my prescription and some groceries.  Everything works well when ordering 3 months of a prescription 4 times a year. My old cell phone was not working at all and Don found a way to search for updates - apparently, that was the problem.  It seems as though there is always some little "fix-it" on the agenda.

Marilyn:  I hope your trip was peaceful and it sounds like a nice break for a normal routine.

I have to make banana bread - the entire bunch turned ripe almost overnight.

Greetings Carol  It is a very green and lush Island, lots of rain here at times.  But it is a beautiful Island.

Greetings Marilyn   Like you I enjoy the splendid longer posts from Larry now.

It is warm enough to have windows open. We took a long walk earlier and then I forced myself to sew.  I have cut a lot of 2 1/2 inch squares of different cotton designs and have begun the project.  Also finished making 20 mini Kleenex fabric holders for a church bazaar. My goal is to make more and perhaps pot holders but I have to see how things turn out.

Judy and John:  my mind has been on you two today - sending Peace and Prayers to you.

JudyB

Thank you for praying.  John is struggling with back spasms, I am concerned they may be related to his back surgery, from a little over 2 years ago.  We lost our Rottie Zeke 2 weeks ago, he was chasing a groundhog I think, and got his head caught in between 2 boulders.  We found him and John tried to move the one boulder with brute strength.  It was too big and I believe that is when he pulled muscles in his back.  I am trying to persuade him to get an Xray, but he seems to be trying to avoid that. A neighbour came with his tractor and lifted the boulder and I pulled Zeke away.  He was shocky, and badly dehydrated the vet treated him well.  Thankfully he has bounced back, and is fine.  A testament to prayer and Zeke's strength.

Many of you will remember Heather our daughter.  June 30th last year her 18 year old daughter died.  The details of that at this point are not important.  2 weeks ago she had a meeting with her pastor about starting a support group for parents who have buried their children.  She had a follow up meeting yesterday and he has approved the group plan, however he would like it open to anyone who has buried a loved one.  We are so excited for Heather, what the enemy had planned for bad our Father has turned to good.  She is working on getting materials together and preparing for this ministry which is to start in September. Please keep Heather and he husband in prayer. Jon (her hubby) still struggles with Kimi being gone and I am praying what the research he is doing will help him as well.

We have had so much rain in our part of northern Ontario, however north of us the fire fighters are battling a forest fire, and praying for more rain. The local farmers are struggling to get into the fields to plant their crops. We need heat, to enable the crops to grow.  This year from last autumn on has been so different from what we are used to.  An interesting thing is the placement of the sun during sundown.  It appears to be more north than west. The earth seems to have changed its position as a result of the multiple earthquakes. Has anyone else noticed this?

Well John is home from his run and I must go!

Hi everyone on a beautiful Father's Day here in South Carolina.  The birds are singing us a nice song.  I have actually been checking in here everyday but for some reason couldn't find the sign in box.  Obviously it was there as others were postings.  Thanks Michael for finding me.

I have had probably the most unusual Father's Day morning, one I couldn't have scripted. I have been giving a lot of thought to some changes I want to make in some documentation as well as cleaning up my LastPass information and being sure what I have conforms with what Pat has.  I think I have a handle on it.  About three AM I was wide awake and decided to get up and work for awhile.  When I picked up my phone I saw I had a message from Scott wanting to know if I was awake.  I texted him back that I was and in a few minutes he came in the door to wish me Happy Father's Day and to sit and visit with me awhile. He has found the little device he thinks that will make my television blue tooth adaptable but his Mother has it and he didn't want to wake her.  He told me I could go ahead and get it and he will install it Wednesday when he is out on his day off.  When he gets home from work he always has to unwind a bit but by 4:30 when he left he was ready to get some sleep.

Yesterday he did get the final ramp to the UPS Depot and sent it back.  It cost over $90 in shipping costs.  I knew I had to pay the return shipping cost if I sent it back so am not complaining although I never thought it would be so costly.  I got the UPS tracking number and emailed the necessary information to complete the matter.  Sometime things just don't work out as we had hoped and the ramps were one of them.  Now the Church group will build the ramp sometime in the middle of July and we can make due with care in getting into and out of the garage into the house.

I have dried a load of clothes that Pat had left in the washer, mainly my clothes, and hung them up.  Also while fixing and eating my breakfast I washed up the dishes in the sink and emptied and put away the dishes Pat had washed last evening. She is going to do a special cleaning wash with something she has to clean a dishwasher.  By the time I finished my breakfast my heart was signaling it was time to sit down and rest, which I pretty much expect to do for the rest of the day as I work on desk projects.  My steps get smaller the more my heart wears down.

It looks like my last posting here in CP was around June 12 so  quickly read over all the posting since then and see I don't need to add anything to today's posting.  .

Happy Fathers Day!  We now attend only the 5 PM Saturday church service because it is quiet and Don can hear what the preacher is saying.  I must say, it is really nice too. It is a full service with communion and also all the same music.  There are 3 services on Sunday morning. Yes, it does "feel" different to not be spending Sunday mornings at  church - We are blessed that there is a place for Don to understand the sermon and partake in the church gathering.  Giving thanks for this opportunity.

Also, giving thanks that two of our sons drove from the mountains here with truck & trailer and one car all the way to middle Montana - straight through safely.  One son is selling his cabin and moving to a small town.

Happy Father's Day to all who qualify in here - sweet memories to all who miss their Dads.

Larry:  How sweet it is that your church has such giving helpers to install a ramp for you.  I pour white vinegar into the dish washer with hot water - do not know if that is the best way to clean it or not - it seems to take care of any calcium buildup.

Hi everyone on what looks like it will be a very nice day.  It is suppose to get up to about 91 degrees this afternoon with only a small chance of showers.

I thought I was going to have a rough night last night but woke up this morning and realized I had gotten 4 or 5 hours of good sleep and since them had a another short nap at my desk.  By 6 am I .  dressed and had eaten my breakfast.  I will be using my wheelchair to get around in the house today rather than trying to walk as the walking seems to bring on this chest pain.  I also realize I am not really ready to leave the house unless necessary.

I decided to do an interesting exercise this morning to see approximately what I had spent since going under Hospice to fix up my bedroom as I wanted it plus some other purchases like clothing.  I found I have spent about $1,800 so far with probably another $1,000 spent by the time I get the ramp built in the garage.  When I considered what I would have paid in co-pays for doctor visits and medicines, etc, I am still ahead of the game by a few hundred dollars. There are only three or four things left to be delivered and one of the big ones will be the carpet runner that is to be delivered today.  This morning I ordered a keyed electronic deadbolt system for our front door that will allow 16 numbers to unlock the deadbolt and then at night there is a lock out feature where these numbers won't work.  This way each of my family members can have there own code to get in as can some of the Hospice workers, if they want to bother.  This along with my home security system should provide good protection as well as much less work going to the front door.

I am planning on having a FaceTime visit this afternoon with several men from my previous Church.  They apparently know very little about computers or phones and think they are going to be very pleased to find out how easy making such calls can be and the hours of driving if they were to make the 5 hour round trip to visit me.

Carol, that must really be a huge Church with all of those services.  Glad you have found a place where Don can hear the services.  That sounds like quite a change for your son to sell his cabin and move to the small town.  It seems we always worry when our loved ones are on the road, especially a long trip.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  We have a nice sunny day on the IOM, not hot by your temperatures, but 61F is a pleasant temperature.

Splendid reading your long post.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone. The weather says it will reach 90 degrees again today and that there is a high probability of rain here late this afternoon, which we can use. Yesterday was sort of a lost day for me as spent most of it laying in bed. About any movement, and sometimes no movement at all, was bringing on these new discomforts in the middle of my chest. I was really tired. In mid-afternoon the girls came out and spent a couple of hours with us. When they came in they handed me a nice box of Dairy Queen Dilly Bars and, of course, we had to check them out at supper time.

Then around pm I had the call from my three Church friends from my previous Church and we got connected on Face Time and it was most enjoyable. However, I talked so much that I was sort unhappy with myself and wrote them an email to apologize for monopolizing the conversation. I find I am doing that frequently now and am wondering if some of the medication I now take could be contributing to this situation.
I sure hope I haven't always talked this much.

Scott sent a text late last evening after his work that he planned on coming out today. IT will be nice to see him and not sure what he has in mind other than to test out the Bluetooth receiver/transmitter that he got me for Father's Day. He is bringing his blue tooth headphones so we can try it out. If it works well I have already picked out a new set of noise canceling headphones to get.

The aid will be here from Hospice to help me with a shower this morning. As far as I know now the rest of the day will be one of rest. My plan is to begin to clean out a lot of old files I have saved on the computer. I am going to create a sectionalized notebook of the information Pat and Scott might need when I am no longer in the picture and it will have several sections of things that have been important to me such as a few poem written my my Grandmother. It should be both a useful project and a pleasant one in gathering this info from the computer and getting things on paper.

Ellie, your weather would certainly be more comfortable than the above 90s we have been and appears will continue to have for a few days. Do you have a nice garden where you can sit out and enjoy the weather and the out-of-doors?

Carol

This morning started with an early phone call - friend/neighbor has a rescue cat and it disappeared last night.  I have looked hard at the open space in back but sure can not see any animal.  No coyotes this year so that is a good sign.

We are about to meet youngest child for lunch and to treat him and his wife.  I heard of a new French Bakery and looking forward to some divine food.

Larry:  Your daily posts are much appreciated.  You are so considerate with making things easy for Pat - hugs to both of you.

I almost have the latest quilt put together.  It consists of a lot of 2 1/2 inch squares and now to measure and add two borders all around.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid post and you don't talk too much.  Not that I have heard you, but your posts are interesting,  what hubby calls 'newsy'.  We have a small garden, but I prefer to sit in our conservatory.

Hi everyone. It is pretty early this morning but I awoke awhile ago from a 6 hour period of uninterrupted sleep and am ready for a good day. According to the weather app it is suppose to get to 89 degrees today with only a 20% chance of participation. Yesterday we did get some rain after sunset but have no idea of how much. The yard people were here and will be back finishing our neighborhood today so know they appreciate the rain holding off.

Pat had left me a note last night to wake her at 7 am as she has an early doctor's appointment. I didn't put it on my calendar so have no idea with which doctors she will be meeting. Scott is planning on coming out again today as he has agreed to work for someone who has a special occasion planned for today. Then he is actually going to take off 5 days so he can spend time with his aunt and uncle and with us to enjoy their visit. They will be flying in tomorrow but my sister wasn't sure if they would try to get by the house until Friday as my BIL isn't well and may elect to spend today resting at the motel. Pat has arranged for the housekeeper to come back and spiff everything up (as if since last Friday we have need it but she sees things I don't.

Once again I spend a good many hours laying in bed yesterday and getting some "cat naps" even sitting here at my desk. I did increase the Lasix back to 60 mgs by taking 20 mg more at lunch time. I also forgot to take the morphine at noon so took it with our evening meal. I know I will be getting rest when I feel the need for it. I have most of my breakfast laid out but don't want to eat it at 4 am as makes a long time before lunch.

We had a very nice dinner last night that consisted of some fruit, something involving flower and eggs and milk and was very good. OK, it was a cherry cobbler with ice cream and it was very good. Pat had some left overs she had planned as the main item in the meals but I very politely declined her kind offer of the leftover before the dessert. I guess this is one of the joy of the freedom I now have with Hospice to eat whatever and whenever I want. My grandfather always ate his dessert first as knew he would eat it even if too full. This way he really enjoyed it and didn't over eat. Of course, his dessert portions were a "little" smaller than what I enjoyed last night.

We are expecting the girls to come over and have Wednesday night dinner with us. Pat decided she didn't want to dirty up the kitchen so will have them pick up Firehouse Subs for our evening meal. I haven't had one of them for months it seems and that sure sounds good to me although probably a quarter of the sandwich will be plenty We are expecting the girls to come over and have Wednesday night dinner with us. Pat decided she didn't want to dirty up the kitchen so will have them pick up Firehouse Subs for our evening meal. I haven't had one of them for months it seems and that sure sounds good to me although probably a quarter of the sandwich will be plenty along with dessert naturally..

Carol, I have never heard of a rescue cat before. I thought they were basically too independent and would want their own rescue human. I expect the cat will return when it gets hungry and is satisfied his/her human has suffered long enough. :) I wish I could tag along to a good French bakery and have a loaf of that great French bread with the hard crust. I am not aware of any French bakeries in the area and it seems Panera is probably as close as we come to there being one. I want things to be as easy as possible for Pat but know that isn't always possible but when I feel up to it sure don't mind taking on small tasks for her. It seems sometimes our largest problem is that her hearing isn't too good and she will speak too softly or says she can't understand what I have been saying and then when I try to raise my voice it sounds like I am angry or something (such is not the case). We are actually using the telephone more and more to talk with each other in separate rooms as the conversation is well heard for both of us. Pat said yesterday that the quilts she likes to make the most are the scrap quilts. She keeps sewing things together and then cutting them into small pieces so she can sew them together again. I don't care as long as she enjoys what she is doing, even if her quilting session for the day is to watch a quilting video or TV program. I know it hurt her back to sit at the machine and sew.

Ellie, thanks for the vote of confidence on the length of my postings. I have always wanted to be sure I was understood in what I was trying to say and thus tend to add more information that is often needed but my philosophy is a little too much is better than too little since one can always bypass reading but if it isn't there such a condition doesn't exist. Is a conservatory like a little windowed in room or building or just a nice part of your house? It does sound nice. Unfortunately it is too hot or too cold here most of the time for sitting outside, even with a very nice porch like this house has. With the British TV shows we enjoy we do get an idea of the lovely gardens that exist over your way. I just love the pictures of flowers an the scenes filmed in them as well as seeing inside many of the homes.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Oh how I enjoyed your post today, very newsy and you sound so positive.

Our conservatory is one that is built onto the property, Mainly the frame is UPVC and the rest glass.  It can be called a sun room, but in the main it is a conservatory.  I will try sending a picture of one.

I am not sure if a picture is allowed, if not please accept my apologies.

Hi everyone. It is going to be another hot day here in South Carolina getting up to around 93 with some chance for rain, although less than 50%. I am expecting this to be an exciting and busy day. The aid will be here around 10 am to help me with a shower.

Scott has taken 5 days off of work so he can spend time with my sister and BIL and with us. He sent me a text saying he has turned off the phone portion of his smart phone so he can't be reached by his work. This will be the first 5 days I can remember him taking for a very long time as he usually loses his vacation time. He and Elizabeth are planning to come out this morning and work on a few more things, including seeing if they can get my TV hooked up for Bluetooth so that I can use earphones with it. He thinks he has what is needed but he will have to take the TV off the wall bracket for a minute to hook things up and so Elizabeth will be here to hold it. Scott has an old dishwasher that has now shorted out the electronics so he is shopping for a new basic one and has found a good deal and we are going to have the pleasure of giving it to him as a gift.

I had Elizabeth take out the mat in front of my computer and it is on the street for the garbage truck later this morning. I expect others of you know what I am talking about these soft mats where the wheels sink into it and then your chair doesn't want to move. I checked into the new glass desk mats and they look great but they are extremely expensive. I had some places to check on the web to see about getting something basic that is solid so the wheels on my chair can move easily. Yesterday I ordered another type chair cushion that is suppose to be very good at preventing or dealing with bed sores. I have lost so much weight that I am concerned about getting a bed sore and want to be preventive rather than treat after one occurs.

Last night the girls surprised us with a homemade German Chocolate cake that Elizabeth made. It has been several years since I have had German Chocolate cake and it sure tasted good. They had picked up sandwiches for our dinner so that made a nice meal. I even forgo my normal fudge bar.

Ellie, there is now no restriction on where we can post pictures and other graphics in our discussions. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I very much liked the appearance of your Conservatory. It looks like you have some very pretty country side off to the left of your Conservatory. Thanks for sharing the picture and I hope we get to see more pictures from around the Isle of Man in the future.

Carol

Ellie:  your special spot to sit and watch the world go by looks so inviting. Especially nice when weather is too chilly to sit outdoors.  Charming.

Larry:  It is so nice for Scott to finally have "free time" and he can enjoy visiting.  I understand about your frustration with the plastic mats as they are tough to move the chairs with rollers.  We are suddenly in the 80 degree weather here and it is a jolt.  Tell Pat that I am putting together a lot of 2 1/2 inch squares in a sorta pattern and really wish I had never thought about this project.  It is very slow going.  Scott will appreciate a new dishwasher.

My friend/neighbor who lost her cat did find the wanderer in her basement after two days.  This friend is very forgetful and we are wondering if she forgot to look there at all.

A neighbor saw deer in the ravine - hooray, we have been missing the wildlife.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  A busy day for you, but lots of help from Scott and Elizabeth.  Oh, the German Chocolate cake sounds lovely!  I will do my best with pictures of the Isle of Man.

Rebot

Greetings Carol Thank you for your splendid comments about the conservatory.  It does get very hot in the conservatory on a warm day.

Hi everyone. We have just ended a 12 hour electrical outage due to a really bad storm that hit right in our area around 4 pm last evening. The power finally came on around 3:30 this morning. Am writing using my cellular plan versus the Internet as expect it will take them a while to also restore the Internet. So will just check in this morning and write more later.

Rebot

Greetings Larry I was telling hubby about you being on the site through your cellular plan.  He thinks it is the same as our 4G, which we use when we don't have  a Wi Fi connection.

Sunny here on the Island, light breeze with 61F temperature.

Janet

Honey, I'm hooome!!
I tried to stay in contact, but wasn't successful.
A lot of the time I didn't have internet connection, and was only able to look at email headlines and delete a lot of those.  I saw a bunch from CP, but they were always the same postings.  I wish I were more techy!

It took us three 12 hour days to drive to Florida in our pickup.  Then we had a few days there, during which we picked up the camper and got stuff ready for the trip home.  I had kept all the things from the other one, bedding, dishes, towels, etc.  But the guys needed some hook-up stuff, and a drill to roll the stabilizers up and down.  We did get to go boating with the kids one day (Granddaughter Abby was there, too!) and watched them tube and dump each other off the tube!  Mark gave Abby some wild rides, dumping her off several times--then she said she wanted to drive the boat and pull Mark.  "Payback time!"  And she did get him back, good! I'm so glad they have a good relationship with each other.  Tiffany rode the tube a little bit, too, but neither Darrel nor I wanted to do it.  Years back, I did, though.

Anyway, we took six days driving home pulling the trailer, over some of the worst roads in the whole US!  I mean, those in Tennessee and Arkansas and a lot of Oklahoma were like riding a paint shaker!  Oh, yes!  I'm so happy to be HOME~!

Larry, I'm delighted you're still posting all your news--we love you!  And I love the rest of you as well, and have read all the posts since I left!

Hi everyone. I'm just going to check in for today as the morning has gotten away from me and my family will soon be here to spend the day with us. I had prepared a longer posting but lost it somewhere and don't have the energy to go back and try to find it or redo it I'll see you all tomorrow by

Carol

Yesterday, we had a hail storm but I don't know if it was damaging anywhere.  It did snow in high country - they keep pushing out the last day of skiing  and it will be at least the last of this month. We have deer in the ravine once again and the news show a black bear in another area.  They will try to capture the bear and relocate it to the mountains.

Church service tonight - unless another storm pops up on the radar.  That would be typical for this area gets late afternoon storms - we could set our clocks at 3 PM and sure enough a storm would descend.

I am rereading a book by a former pastor - "Vice and Virtue" and have started to read "Jesus Always" once more.  The last one is a book that can be read daily and reread upon finishing.  -- Must start to bake banana bread so there will be one little sweet in the house.

Janet

Larry, I hope you do find your long post, as I'd hate to miss out on anything you say

Hello, Carol.  My, that seems late for skiing, but folks here needed sweatshirts this morning!  After 93 degrees yesterday.....

I forgot to mention last night that we did stop in Sherwood, Arkansas to visit a grandson who is in the Air Force.  He's 26 today, and has bought a really nice house with swimming pool there, has it all fixed up so nice.  He's in the market for a good, strong Christian girl, as he really wants to get married! This is our youngest grandson.

We have the camper all unloaded, I have last load of laundry in, and mail all sorted.  And I was up half the night (for unknown reasons) and am about ready for a nap!

Hello to anyone who pops in later!

Greetings Everyone  A much cloudier day on the Isle of Man today.

Carol

We did not make it to the Saturday 5 PM service.  Just looking west at the sky it looked fierce and another storm did pass through.  There was some flooding in the ravine in back of our house but the big drain solved any problems.

Janet:  Glad to "see" you home safe.  How nice that you could visit with your grandson.  Have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday....

Janet

We had rain and hail last night.
My flowers were really looking pretty; now they are beaten almost into the ground, all blooms knocked off and most leaves too.   :'(  They will probably come out of it, but they look pitiful right now!  We got one inch of rain here at our house.  Someone at church this morning said the hail in town was golf ball size!   :o

I'm so sleepy!   :sleepy:

See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone on what looks to be a beautiful but hot South Carolina day that is to be sunny, with no  chance of rain and a high of 95 degrees.  Today is the day my sister and brother-in-law have to return to their home in NW Iowa.  There visit has seemed much too short but it has been a wonderful, memory filled experience.  We have laughed a lot and cried a little as we recall our childhood and the many years since.  Fortunately they will be able to stay until mid-afternoon.

Yesterday Scott and Bob (BIL) got my new beautiful TV on the wall and Scott  went through the process of getting it all set up, something he really enjoys doing.  I got my new blue tooth headset and am enjoying the XM music station Escape that plays beautiful music.  I had a very restful night.  I was really exhausted when I went to bed right after dinner and slept for 2 or 3 hours, then was up for an hour or so and then sort of followed that pattern for the night. I just don't want to waste one of these very precious hours and know that later this week everything will pretty much quiet down.

Today Scott will install our SimpliSafe home security system.  He advised me last night that we really aren't going to be able to eliminate the Ring Doorbell as that is the outside camera and the SimpliSafe works within the house.  He wanted me to order a couple of key fobs so that the alarm can be activated or deactivated from the car rather than having to rush into the house and remembering to turn off the system.  I will do that later this morning when I can just call and order them.  We will activate the system and we have a 72 hour testing period where they would not call 911 as get everything set up and in place.  I also get a one month free monitoring.  So by this evening we should be pretty well protected and monitored 24/7 with a good deadbolt system on our front door.  My new glass chair mat for the big computer is to be delivered today and finally Scott and Bob may install the four grab bars around the area where I will be sitting at the large computer in the mornings.  Am I a lucky man or what.

Yesterday in the daily devotional book the Upper Room was a reference to Galatians that I am going to make my new Scripture reference and that is Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self-control." In other words "Playing with Joy" and that is the way I hope and want to live out the rest of my life here on this earth.

It looks like all faired well in the stormy weather.  We had a lot of rain before dark yesterday evening so it will be awhile before we will need to water.

Greetings Larry  Another one of your splendid posts.  We enjoyed reading about your time with your sister and brother in law.  As you say, a wonderful, memory filled experience.  The memories we cherish, will be with us for evermore.

My day has been one of housework and more housework, it has to be done.

I like your scripture reference. My hubby's favourite choice is not scripture, but a poem published in 1888.
Let me know what you think of the poem.  It was written after the author of the poem, lost a leg due to illness and he was moved to write this poem.  It is  is called Invictus.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
 For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
 Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Janet

Larry, I was so happy to see that you had posted today!  So glad you're having such a good ad memorable time with your sister and bro-in-law. And you're continuing with getting everything set up the way you want, house protected, etc. etc.  Yes, you're a blessed man, to have Scott to help you with all these things.  We have so much trouble with our technical devices, and have to call on Curtis (grandson) for help. He's a busy guy, so sometimes it takes a few days before he can get here.  But sometimes he can tell us what to do on the phone, as happened last night when Darrel couldn't get his computer online.

Enjoy the rest of your too-short visit with family!

Ellie, I like the poem Invictus, but hadn't ever read the backstory of it.  However, I cannot say that I agree with the final stanza.  Well,  I guess we are the masters of our fate and the captains of our souls, in that it is only our decision alone which determines our eternal destiny.  Other opinions?  (and I am in no way trying to be argumentative!)  :)

We picked some of our cherries today, at least enough for a pie (I'm thinking there's enough for two pies)  I'm glad we have a cherry pitter!  ;)

Greetings Janet  I enjoyed reading your thoughts about the poem Invictus  And you are right to ask for other opinions.  In  saying you can not agree with the final stanza, could I ask why?

There is another reason why my hubby likes this poem.

Carol

Ellie: In many ways we believe we can be "masters of our souls".  I believe we can train our inner thoughts to think first - what would Jesus guide us to do - for instance.  We do have free will and I so admire the person facing dreadful decisions who can step back and formulate a fair and sensible answer to the crisis after prayerful thoughts.  Thank you for your interesting post.  There isn't any perfect answer but we can look for guidance through prayers.

Janet:  Wishing your AF grand the best in finding a wonderful wife some day.  I found my Air Force guy - he was a blind date and I had never gone on one before -  ^-^

Ellie:  House work never ends for girls.  I also want to add - the author wants to show us we are in charge of many directions of our lives - in some ways & how we adapt to life.  That is my take on your question.   ;)

Good morning everyone. It is a bright and beautiful morning here in South Carolina the temperature is headed up to about 93° but no rain in our forecast which will be nice. I had a good six hours asleep last night but really needed it because of the time the evening arrive and I've been a long day and as you know when we have a realtors leave us perhaps the last time they will see them it's a little difficult. But as I told my sister and brother-in-law I intended to be here next year and if they would come and visit me but if not I will be waiting for them in heaven.

Scott came out and spent the morning with us and then went home to rest a while and take care of some things for himself his dishwasher is I think I mentioned previously had failed and he needed to get the old one out of this kitchen into the street where someone would pick it up for the parts and be ready to install The new one which will come on Saturday apparently. As soon as he finished that he came out and brought in the glass floormat and put it down for me and boy is it nice. It is certainly a luxury that I never expected to have but I will certainly enjoy it. Decided to  wait until the day of install the home security system, which should be very easy to install after reading the instructions. About the only thing left now would be to put up for a little grab bars here next to my desk on the walls help me pull my chair up to the desk. I ordered a wireless keyboard and mouse yesterday to use with the big computer to laminate some wires and also to help me take the keyboard and use it.

Pat  and the birthday coming up in a very few days and I want to make this a very special Acacian for her because this might be the last one I get to spend with her. I have a plan that I will discuss with Scott today and then we will see about bringing it into being. There is no reason she can't enjoy the same good television picture and Bluetooth headset like I have more than dealing with the television it has pretty poor picture actually I'm having to use all technology in the headset she uses it wants to fall off her head all the time. The only problem is what I do with all these extra television sets but perhaps of someone who would appreciate a nice television and we certainly don't need all that we have I hope this is not being wasteful.

The aid will be here in a couple of hours to help me with my shower for the day and that is about All that is on the schedule. So I'm looking forward to relaxing rest of the day although I'm sure I'll find something to keep me busy as I want to be. Of course I'm taking quite a few naps and all of this so it sort of cuts the day up into little pieces and this is something I've never experienced before in my life, actually kind of nice.

A few more thoughts since it is difficult to go back and quick edit on the phone using cellular I think maybe this will work better than what I have been trying to do.  I will just make more than one posting. Wish I thought of this before.

Carol, I thought your posting was excellent and you expressed the thoughts we probably all have here that we have different opinions but staying them doesn't mean we're trying to change somebody else's thoughts because in reality it just never works. You obviously found A great husband in the military family and have a great family. I will be lucky to have a family that loves us?

I'll see you all tomorrow and have a joyful day because that's what I plan to do each and every day.

Janet

Ellie, the reason I disagree with the last two lines of "Invictus" is because he says I am the captain....I am the master.  I believe that God is always the master.  Yes, we are in charge of our fate here on earth, but only if we have chosen to accept Jesus' gift of eternal life will we get to go to heaven. And I am assuming that is what everyone wants!  :)

May I ask the other reason your hubby likes the Thanks!

Larry, I'm ever so glad about your nice visit with your relatives.  I called my sister who has cancer a while ago, and told her our next trip will be to come see her!
She was happy to hear that.  I'm not sure if we will go right away or wait until after the fair.  I still am obligated to be here for that, but have decided to tell them this is my LAST year!  Some of the younger folks need to step up and help!

I'll have to check out those glass mats; I don't think I've ever seen one!  You are such an appreciative person, it makes me smile to read the gratitude for everything in your posts!  Good for you!

I finally got all the bills paid, and other items in the mail taken care of.  What a relief!

Carol, thanks for your good wishes for our AF grand.
I told him I will be praying he finds the girl God has chosen for him.  I never went on a blind date--but the idea always intrigued me, for some reason.  ;)

...I have also posted this to you on our S & F's site, you may not have seen it, so posting it on here as well..

...Could you tell me who the author I need to look for when I am looking on Amazon (UK) for the devotional book you have mentioned..." The Upper Room, or The Upper Room Disciplines " I would like to purchase it but I dont want to get the wrong book, seems to be a few books with that title with different author names....Yes I like what is says...

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self-control."

I too would like to follow your philosophy..." and that is the way I hope and want to live out the rest of my life here on this earth.."

Sad to admit but I hadn't always followed these when my Richard was here,  especially the " kindness, " just wish I could start all over again and put things right...

Greetings Carol   We all need guidance and prayer for most of us is where the guidance comes from.  And as I said the person who wrote the poem, did so after losing his leg.   I researched this more today and he was told he might lose his other leg.  I imagine the gent prayed a lot for guidance and as his leg was saved, it seems his prayers were answered.  And as he was only sixteen at the time, he would have been guided by his parents to pray for guidance.

The research told me the fourth stanza alludes to a phrase from the King James Bible, which has, at Matthew 7:14,

'Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it'.

Housework certainly never ends for girls, but there are exceptions.  Until hubby became disabled, he asked me to let him share the household chores – sweet sweet man.

Rebot

Greetings Janet    I agree with your understanding of the last two lines, yes God is the master.  Maybe as the author was only sixteen, this is the way he chose to put his health struggles to good use, by putting his thoughts into poetic verse.

I was only passing on hubbys predilection for this poem.

Invictus was the poem which inspired Nelson Mandela, sorry President Nelson Mandela when he was detained for twenty seven years, most of those years in a cell no bigger than 10 foot by 10 foot on Robben Island.  Who as we know was a joint winner of the Nobel Peace prize?

And hubby places the late President Nelson Mandela as one of the people from the past and present he would have liked to have met.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid reading your long post today.  A very positive Larry I am reading about these past few weeks.  It was 63F on Tuesday (yesterday) on the Island, a bit cooler than your 93F 😊

Did I express hubbys thoughts in a negative way Larry.  Neither hubby or I would want to change somebody's considerations or beliefs.  As those beliefs are personal to the individual.

Janet

Thanks for the additional information re the poem Invictus, Ellie.  I'm quite surprised to learn it was written by one so young; I had always supposed it was written by an elderly man! Shows how our assumptions can often be very wrong!

Hi everyone. Today we will have a partly cloudy day with a high of 91 but no rain in the forecast. We had quite a day yesterday.

Scott got the new SimpliSafe home security in place and was really impressed with the company and the system. A representative stayed on the phone with him and guided him each step of the way. It was not difficult as there is no wiring except a power cord for the video camera that shows a large part of our home. I had not purchased that originally but in talking with them we found it could be easily wired into the home doorbell and so no more batteries with Ring. We will be able to cancel the Ring doorbell contract and they provide storage of the footage of the camera and they don't increase the monthly fee for this service. I now have a panic button that I can carry around my neck and have ordered two more panic buttons so Pat and I each have one permanently by the bed as well as keep one with us. That also saves on a separate Life Alert type monitoring service as this service is a monitored one 24/7. With my iPhone app I can monitor our home from anywhere and do things like set the system on. It is really quite something. I don't want to sound like a commercial but just speaking as a very satisfied customer.

Scott noticed how much both Pat and I enjoyed getting out of the house when we all went to dinner and suggested that we do this at least once a week on one of his days off. It may be just a little drive or to go out for lunch. Pat and I both thought that was a good idea. Also now with the Panic Button Pat should feel free to leave me alone.

Finally I made a decision that I want Pat's upcoming birthday and our anniversary to be very special as this could be our last one. I think I mentioned this yesterday. I set the wheels in motion bought this 65 " Sony TV that is blue tooth equipped and does a lot of other things. I am getting Pat a set of the Bluetooth headphone like I recently got that will fit her head. One of the nice things was that they offered a 5 month repayment plan with no interest if paid over the 5 month period. So I will just have smaller charges for the five months rather than having to pay for it upfront. It is being delivered to Scott's home and right now I have arranged with my good neighbor, who has a pickup, to bring it out here as it won't fit into the car. It weights 51 pounds. We will cover it with black plastic so that what is in the box can't be seen until it is time to install it. Now she will have the best TV in the house in the living area where she spends so much time in her easy chair and hopefully will have many, many hours of very enjoyable TV watching in the days ahead.

This afternoon the man should be here to start working on the new ramp in our garage. He said he would plan on doing it this afternoon and then on Thursday.

Scott is coming over to change out the Modem/Router as this may be the problem with our internet being so sporadic.

Janet, I certainly agree with you that it is time for some younger folks to take over the responsibilities you have had for your annual fair. You have certainly reached the age where you need more time for the things you enjoy without all the pressures of direct involvement. Also, it sounds like a wonderful thing to go visit your sister. Is she under Hospice care? Pat's sister must have her gall bladder removed as she is in severe pain a lot of the time. The doctor told her she wasn't like to have a ruptured gall bladder because there are no stones. She was going to come and suffer during her visit in fear that I wouldn't last long enough for her to have the surgery and recover 3 weeks before she would be cleared to travel. I had suffered the same terrible pain before they finally tested and found I had a bad gall bladder and once it was removed I was fine and all the pain and discomfort went away and I was able to eat anything. I got a commitment from her that she would do as I asked. She has always looked to me to help her. Now when she comes she should be able to really enjoy being here. I know everyone isn't the same but waiting just a few weeks to recover will make her visit much more enjoyable. I had never heard of the glass mats until the ramp building mentioned them. I love mine already. They are pricey but I no longer have to fight that old black mat that buries the wheels in those little holes.

Jackie, I did send you information via email about the devotionals I follow each day. I look forward to getting the emails and doing the short devotional readings each morning. While you can purchase a subscription for the little monthly magazine they publish the same material for free in the daily emailed devotional.

Ellie, thanks for that additional research and sharing on Invictis. I agree with your husband in that I want to continue to share as many of the household chores as I am able as it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I just have to be smart enough to know which I can and which are really too much for me anymore. We are very blessed to have a fine housekeeper so other than the kitchen area and the bathrooms basically we don't have a lot of housework to do and Pat takes care of these, although I help keep the kitchen clean when I feel up to it. One of the problems with just reading words without the benefit of further discussion or observing facial expressions is that it is easy to misunderstand what is really met. I didn't read your comments about your husbands enjoyment of the poem as negative. I always thought it was a pretty neat poem myself and if the lad was only 16 he had had a lot of bad experiences. I guess in many ways we are the masters of of fate by the decisions we make to believe the Bible or not.

Carol

I just had a phone call & we checked the number - it is a scam asking for money.

Today, five of us gals celebrated the birthday for one of us.  The lunch was so large, there will be leftovers for dinner.

Larry:  You and Pat have raised wonderful children - Scott is very caring and thoughtful.

We have one son coming for an in and out visit within a week.

Janet

Larry, I didn't take Ellie's comments about her husband liking that poem as negative, either--not at all!  I'm glad when someone brings up something like this as it is fun to get others' opinions on it.  It's so great to read your continuing good posts and know you're still doing well.  You are surely getting things all in order as you want them to be!  Good for you!

No, my sister isn't on Hospice.  As far as I have heard, the doctor she has hasn't even mentioned it to them. But if not, I think they should inquire.  She is 83 and very frail, although she's been a really hard worker up until Thanksgiving Day when the cancer made itself known by causing her terrible pain.  When I spoke to her a couple days ago, she said she's not having much pain at all now, and thinks she may be a little stronger.  She does have some dementia, so has trouble remembering things from day to day at times.  We aren't planning to take the camper up there, just will drive the Lincoln.  I told Darrel I will strip the bed, wash the sheets and remake the bed so they won't have any added work because of us.
Of course we will help with whatever meals are needed while we're there, and probably won't stay long.  Don't want to tire her out.

It felt so good to be back painting with my friends today!!  And George is happy I'm home, as he really wants to get his book finished that I am editing for him. That is work I really enjoy, and can work at my own pace and time.

Carol, good to see your posts, always!  I really hope we will meet one of these days. Not sure of the chances of that, but can hope, right?

Jackie, good to see you had popped in!  Come back and talk to us, we're always willing to listen.  :)

Ellie, I hope you didn't take my comments/questions as negative--I surely didn't mean them in that way!  I have loved poetry since a very young age, have memorized a lot of it through the years (but don't ask me to recite any now!)  Another one I love is IF.

Jane, come on in and chat a bit!

Marilyn, how are you doing?  How is Freckles?

Talk to you lovely people tomorrow!

Larry Hanna...
...thank you, I have now sent you replies, you have been very helpful and, I have a book ordered and on its way, which I should be receiving any day now, lucky for me this book will be coming from a UK book supplier which I have used before so is reliable, rather than the US that would have taken one to three months to arrive, how lucky was that?

I cringed when I read part of your post which read..." Finally I made a decision that I want Pat's upcoming birthday and our anniversary to be very special as this could be our last one..." i know you are speaking realistically but, this is also what I had said to my Richard last Christmas..." that I want to get a small Christmas Tree this year and decorate it, as this might be our last Christmas together.." well little did I realise that this would come true...became my-our reality...

One day too, we shall all be as free as a bird..

The Parable of the Mustard Seed..

Matthew 13:31....Mark 4.30-34......"Then Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like.. To what can I compare it..It is like a mustard seed that a man tossed into his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches."

Mark 4:32......" But after it is planted, it grows to be the largest of all garden plants and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air nest in its shade."

Psalm 104:12......" The birds of the air nest beside the springs; they sing among the branches."

Ezekiel 17:23......" I will plant it on the mountain heights of Israel so that it will bear branches; it will yield fruit and become a majestic cedar. Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches."

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

Good Morning everyone, I am doing well. Freckles  is so much better after the Cold Laser therapy and the acupuncture. Today is our monthly Furry friend luncheon and General meeting. The luncheon will be at the Pancake Mill, it is a good thing our reservations were made as that place is always so crowded. It is right on the highway and very popular among tourists, truckers and the locals.

Keith is doing fairly well. we really enjoyed our trip to Kauai earlier this month. Having Gilbert and Savannah along was such a blessing. I couldn't drive the rental car because I am over 70 so Gilbert had to be the driver. We did all the free things as the tours were at least $125. per person. I posted all the pictures that I took on Facebook at the end of each day. Mine are all scenery. I wish I would have had someone use my phone to take pictures of us. I want to get some printed so I can put them in an album for a memory book for Keith when his memory really starts to get worse.

Marilyn:It sounds like your Hawaiian vacation was smooth sailing and fun. Love that Kona coffee.

Janet: We still see a lot of snow on the mountain tops and it is melting enough to cause some flooding and downed trees. So far,not in this area.  Hopefully, the melt will go slowly.  We are talking about going north to Montana for a visit with oldest son.

Hi everyone. We are to have a mostly cloudy day today with a high in the upper 80's and no rain in the forecast.

My major concern right now is Pat who is pretty sick. Our son was awake and came right out when I talked to him and they are now probably down at Prompt Care. She thought it was asthma but this morning is pretty sure it is bronchitis as she is wheezing, her oxygen is down into the mid-80;s but fortunately we do have oxygen available in the house and she feels terrible. I just hope she doesn't end up in the hospital but just take things one step at a time as it will be what it is.

When I went to bed last night I was again totally exhausted due to not sleeping the night before and all the craziness I had created trying to plan a surprise for Pat. The solution was to throw that plan out entirely and just tell her of the surprise. Then I needed to clean up the mess with where the new TV would be delivered and hauling it out here. The simple solution was going online and setting up both UPS and FedEx where all the tools for changing delivery addresses and many other tools are available. I had to chuckle at myself as I had in mind it was FedEx that had the TV until I got everything set up and went to use the tracking number and found that it was UPS that was delivering. That actually gave me a good laugh at myself. So now I have both services fully set up to me and was able to go online and get the delivery here to our house and will be able to track it on the delivery route this afternoon, Scott will set it up after it arrives. He said this TV has a lot of new technology that he has never heard of and is the type of thing he loves to get into.

The ramp in the garage was basically finished yesterday expect for one little piece of wood and Pat was able to use it to get to the car with her walker this morning. The man will be back this afternoon to finish it and I have his check ready as the materials were just around $ 140 but I am including a few more dollars in the check to pay for the gas he used to make the trips here and to Lowe's for the lumber. I will be going online this morning and making a like contribution to the Church Ministry area that has the Ramp Builders.

I fixed a light breakfast for Pat this morning, something I haven't done in several months. It is amazing what one can do sitting in a wheelchair (as I know Bubble and Don can well attest). We had used up all of our silverware so I got out a big bowl, filled it with hot soapy water and washed up all of the silverware. There are plenty of clean dishes but we had used the silverware an now we have a clean drawer of that. I used to do this all the time and this morning I just sat in the wheelchair and accomplished the task. I now expect to have a very quiet day probably resting in bed, at least this afternoon. I will turn off my "jet motors" and hopefully keep them off. I have never been a procrastinator. :) Just worried about Pat but also know she is fully in God's hands so must remember to turn that matter over to him (although I want to take it back and worry some more! How foolish but we are humans!).

Yesterday was one of great sadness for me as well when my best friend Rods wife called me with the information that it is likely he has now been taken over by that terrible disease of Parkinson's. A couple of days ago they found he had gotten out of the house during the night and had fallen. While there is always hope that this situation is medicine related as his doctor had put him on two new medications. They had taken all the phones out of circulation as he was calling people and also unplugged his electronics, which he was still trying to fix or use. They knew what was going on. Betty and I shed some tears and now my concern is for Betty. Fortunately she has two daughters that are very attentive, one living on the level above where she now lives. Betty is into her 80's and not well herself. She is a very sweet lady who has loved her gardening and her Church and certainly her family. She and Rod were great friends with Kay Arthur and Betty was one of the instructors in Bible Study for Kay for years. I am so grateful that God brought both of these fine people into my life. Rod is 7 years older than I am but age has never been a factor and until the Parkinson's began to destroy is life he was the strong one. He taught me a lot about computers and would come over to help me at a moments notice if I let him know I had a problem.

I guess that is enough for today and I see I certainly didn't keep anything short in terms of what I have written. I guess I am still working on a little nervous energy.

Carol, I agree with you about out children. I know he is here for me with best relationship I have ever had with him as an adult.  I also know that when I am no longer in the picture he will be attentive and see to the needs of his Mother, which has given me great peace of mind.  I can do the setting up and planning to make things easier for them, which I think I have done.  It sounds like you have a fine and caring family also.

Janet, I was obviously dying and no other doctor I was seeing ever mentioned Hospice until this wonderful caring Dr. Janet Utz, a very fine and highly respected Cardiologist. Please be proactive with your sister and BIL as they will likely have to bring up the subject to the doctor. Being cynical but when a person goes into Hospice the doctor loses a patient. Feel free to give my telephone number or email address to your BIL as I would be more than happy to share my short but wonderful experience with him. I realized yesterday that I was just starting my 5th week rather than the beginning of the 6th.

Jackie, I would expect you can find many books that are used that are sold in England and they usually are much less expensive and you probably avoid the VAT tax and the added shipping costs. Just put the title of what you are looking for in a search line and see what you get.  I bet you will be surprised. You are doing very well and just taking things one day at a time.  All walks start with one step and sometimes we try to do to many things at once.  (I know as I just did that!) I loved your citing the Bible verses.

Marilyn, so glad you were able to take that trip and enjoy that special time with your family.  Now you have some great memories.  Also nice to read that Freckles is doing better as know that was a concern for you.  Did you have pancakes at your luncheon?

Carol

Just checking in after another trip to dreaded W Mart.   I actually found some nice shelf liner at the dollar store. I left a call for the man who cleaned carpet a couple of years ago and will schedule it after son from Montana visits next week.

Just thought I'd step in and say "hey" to everyone (or as they say in the south "all y'all").
I come here most days and keep tabs on what's going on in your world, but I just don't have anything to add to the conversation.
Things just keep happening, though, and the world keeps turning, so I s'pose it really doesn't matter where one jumps in.

I had my annual eye exam on Monday, and learned my cataracts are growing and I'll soon need surgery. That along with dry eyes has been a slight annoyance for me lately.  Sometime over the weekend I noticed a itchy bump on my forehead, near the hairline, and figured it was some sort of bug bite.  Well, that spot began to grow and spread down my forehead until it reached my eyelid which swelled and became quite painful. I toyed with the idea that it might be Shingles, but I had the vaccine a few years ago and thought that took care of it.  Well, yesterday I finally took myself to the walk-in clinic because I've heard Shingles in the eye can cause blindness.  I was thoroughly checked out at the clinic and they agreed that it was indeed Shingles and referred me to the Bay Eye Clinic for the same reason I had been concerned.  At the Eye Clinic I got all the same tests I had just been put through on Monday, and the doctor said my eye was okay but he gave me a prescription for an antiviral to, hopefully, prevent any further spread of the rash. So --- that's how I spent my afternoon yesterday.

I have just hired a new person for my yardwork.  Ron, who has been doing it for several years, has just proved unreliable, and I got notice from the park management that I needed to get the grass cut a.s.a.p.  I told Ron, and all I ever got from him was "I'll be there in the morning." and then he'd never show up.  To be fair, he never did say which morning that would be.  Anyway, I believe my wonderful neighbors were the ones who turned me in.  They spend far too much time paying attention to my place.  Anyway, I happened to see this man, Kirt, as he was preparing to do some work across the street so I asked him what he would charge to cut the grass and trim the hedges.  His answer was "Whatever you feel like"  He then spent the next three hours in my yard!  He gave me his card and said he would be happy to do other work for me ... like power washing, carpentry, pruning etc.  He said I could figure what I could pay for him to do stuff around here (because cutting grass is only a couple months a year) and divide that by 12 and I could pay him monthly.  I know he has expenses every month and that was my suggestion in the first place.  This morning, when I told him what I'd pay monthly, he thought that was too much so began telling me what all he could do for that money.  He loves to talk -- a LOT -- and has a lot of ideas about what he can do here.  I don't think I want him to do any painting, or carpentry, but that will be conversation for later.

Okay, you asked me to come in and chat --- aren't you sorry now?

Greetings Everyone  Been a busy day catching up with you some things I have started, but never finished.

Greetings Larry Sorry to here Pat is unwell.  Will you pass on my best wishes to Pat and hubby's as well.  If it is Bronchitis, we hope for a speedy recovery for Pat.  My hubby has suffered with Asthma since he was ten years old. And a shortage of breath with any condition is not a very pleasant thing to have or see.

Rebot

Greetings Janet  My hubby used to write poetry, but unless I act as his scribe, nothing gets either on paper or the computer.  And he rarely feels like writing poetry these days.

Janet

This has seemed a strange day!
Darrel had a 9:30 app't with the doctor I saw that I like so much, here in town.  I went along, so I would know what she told him, as he forgets things so much.  She's sending him for a bunch of blood work they couldn't do today as he had eaten breakfast, and it needs to be fasting tests.  So he will go in the morning. I had to smile this afternoon when he came home from the grocery store and told me, "I got a nice compliment!"  I asked what, and he said the girl who checked him our had asked him how old he is, and when he told her "81", she couldn't believe it!  She said, "I thought you might be 60, at the most!  So he even showed her his drivers license!  :D   Yep, men enjoy compliments, too!

Larry, I'm so sorry Pat isn't feeling well. I shall pray for her quick recovery.  Sorry for the bad news of your friend, too.

I'm sure the church and the ramp builders appreciate your generosity.  I'm working on seeing ways to be more generous, as I feel the Lord is working on me in that area, among others.

It's wonderful that you do have a great relationship with your son as an adult. I'm thinking he must have a lot of your wonderful attributes!  ;)

No, Jane, I'm not one bit sorry I asked you to come in and chat!  I really enjoyed your newsy post, and I'm so happy you have found a willing worker to help you with things that need doing that you can't or don't have the tools to do.  What a blessing--and for him, too, as that will help both of you!

Hello, Ellie.  Been really busy here, as well!

Darrel and I picked part of our cherries a day ago. He pitted them (with the cherry pitter) and this afternoon I made a pie.  It was good!  Cherry pie is his very favorite kind.  :)

Marilyn, good to see you posting, too.  Glad you enjoyed your Hawaiian trip.  I didn't know you couldn't drive a rental car if you're over 70!!  Hmm.

Jackie, Keep reading the Word, there is strength, healing, comfort and wisdom there that you can find nowhere else.  Great start!

Jane, that's scary about the shingles almost getting to your eye!  Yikes!

I spent several hours today working on the editing on my friend George's book.  I counted the corrections I made on just one page--41!   :o

We couldn't stand to listen to any more of the democratic racket, so turned off the TV.  Sigh.....

Well, clock is chiming ten--and my pillow is calling!
G'night!

Well it never rains but it pours, 3 funerals in 6 weeks.  A good friend he was 88, passed away on Sunday.  The funeral is Saturday.  We sang together in the choir when I was in my teens.  He was a good man and a firm believer, with a wonderful voice.

John is out helping our neighbour with hay again this year.  It is a time consuming job however he finds it relaxing to sit on the tractor and just rake the hay.  John was having trouble with his back, (muscle spasms). That seems to be ended, however he is being very careful how he moves.

Larry, I am praying for Pat, I know what asthma is like, it can be quite scary. It s always sad when a friend has difficulties like your friend.  It sounds like you are a supportive ear for her.  Take care of yourself too and don't over tax yourself.

It is late and we have appointments tomorrow, so I am off, and hoping to get a full nights sleep.  Sleep has been elusive this week.

John...or is this Judy?
...John you have used one of my late fathers well known sayings, one he was always using...
" it never rains but it pours.."

... we had certainly had our share of funerals taking place when I was in my 20s and 30s..... My family had three just like you, just a few weeks apart...two brothers and a cousin of my fathers within a few weeks of each other... One uncle even travelled down for his brothers funeral, stayed at our house, my fathers home, and was found dead upstairs in bed..I was downstairs at the time...

...my own partner of 20 years funeral-cremation was only 11 weeks ago...

I was really saddened to hear of sister Pats parting....I think we all can give thanks to Pat for making our forum and our Seniors and Friends forum what it is, it has been a lifeline of long standing friendships..Pat was our masterpiece who started up our forums several years ago..

Jane Walker...
...you can come in and have a chat any time you wish, at least you made me giggle, and believe you me, I haven't been doing very much of that lately apart from crying every day over the loss of my Richard.....

Marylin...
...relieved to hear that your Keith is doing well, I know he was a worry, a concern for you some time ago...

Larry no pancakes, I had Creamy Vegetable Crepes and a Fruit bowl. The vegetables were crunchy just the way I like them, I do not care for mushy veggies.

Jane good to see you posting. Sorry you have the shingles. I have heard there is a new shingles vaccine that you get in two doses that is better than the old Zostervax which I too had about 25 years ago. I am thinking I should as my Dr about getting the newer vaccine.

Janet I think it may have been that particular rental agency with the age restriction on the drivers.

Carol I didn't get to taste the Kona coffee but we did buy Kauai coffee at the Plantation. It was good coffee too.

Jackie, It is hard when you have so many things going wrong in ones life. Take a look at the past yerar for me. Sept. 6 my son passed away. Oct, 28 Keith had prostate Surgery, Oct 30 took hime to ER going into sepsis, they couldn't even get a BP on him. Emergency surgery 6 days in ICU 2 week in Rapid Response unit,  andother 2 weeks on the 4th floor unit. He was released the day before our Thanksgiving, Dec. 22 I had a bad a-fib attack (didn't even know I had a heart problem)  ambulance to ER, they stopped my heart and restarted it in the correct rhythm. Dec 24 drove to California for Christmas with my son. on to May, grand daughter in  the hospital IVE in South Carolina, Liver completely  destroyed kidneys not function. May 30 she passed away. June 2 we left for Kauai. I sure needed the time to reflect on my own life expectancy and enjoy my youngest son and grand daughter and Keith. There you have it.

I tried to get a posting done this morning but was so tired I just couldn't do it.  I wrote so much yesterday and I would invite you to look back if you didn't read about quite a day we had.  We had a call today that one of our dear friends, the lady who stayed with us as we awaited death, who now has Alzheimer's is in her final moments.  This on top of my best friend now being in a mental health facility and a low possibility he will come out of it has made this a very draining few days.  I am just too tired to write more today.  Hopefully will feel more rested tomorrow.

Just discovered that I had drifted off for a short power nap.  Don't I have it rough.:)  Now time for lunch and then a quiet and restful afternoon.

Greetings Janet You said 'democratic racket', are we talking about tennis as they use tennis rackets

Jackie you were right It was me who put in the post.  LOL I didn't even cue in till I read your post that I was on John's profile!

We had rain again today. Looks like the farmers are going to be struggling this year getting crops in and hay cut.

It is late I am going to close for now and be back to put up the new page for July.

Marylin...
...yes you are right, been a terrible year for both you and your Keith...we have to ask our God why?...I too am looking back to when all my bad things first started showing themselves...Well I first stumbled unwittingly onto a forum for tracing ones family, I placed a notice and it was answered which never turned out the way it was hoped for.... A month or so after, i lost my-our furbaby number two, followed by a short time later, a year later, I was diagnosed with my Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, and 1 & a half weeks later being booked to have a hysteroscopy operation by the oncologist because there was the possibility of cancer, thankfully there wasn't, just polyp removal...Now just a short time later we moved address due to my illness of needing a ground accommodation, no stairs.....then seven months later we lost furbaby number three, then a year or two later my Richards health started taking a turn for the worst, and now he has gone, suddenly and unexpectedly taken away from me, I am sure that morning when he woke up, got out of bed, he ws not expecting to be taken that morning, that lunchtime, why would he have, he had not long got back from taking our-his dog to the pet groomers in his his car, a 20 - 30 minutes drive with the intentions of driving back to collect him and hour or two later, as you are all aware, I found my Richard sitting in his armchair, dead, his hands on the sides of the armchair, his eyes and mouth open...he was not breathing...sorry I am off crying again as I am picturing him...why was I not thee when he needed me the most, he was always there for me, ALWAYS...

Carol

It is so nice to see more of you checking in. I have several deep concerns but just cannot "talk" about it - only in my prayers.

Jane:  Thanks for your newsy note.  I hope that because you did have a Shingle shot, this may lessen the curing time.

John B:  You and Judy have gone through a lot - I admire your perseverance in keeping faith.

Janet

  Ellie, how I wish it were something so harmless as a tennis racket!   I was referring to the Democratic party "debates" on TV. UGH. 'nuff said!

Carol, remembering your concerns in my prayers...((((hugs))))

Judy, thanks for keeping this forum going!  Have you any idea how I can get on S&F site?  Oldiesman gave me the URL, but I don't remember my username and password, thus I cannot post.  I think there are probably a lot of people there that I remember, and would enjoy connecting with them again.  Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

Jackie, I am now 79 years old.  I have gone through a lot of bad things during the years I've been living.  But I choose to look forward, not back!  If I were still grieving over every loved pet that died, every cruel thing anyone did to me, every disappointment and loss, I would be miserable and make those around me unhappy, too. Please don't take this as a reprimand, but please do try to remember the good times in your life, so that you can be peaceful and enjoy the years you have left to live.
I know you are now reading scripture, and that's a wonderful start!  Please know I care about you and it pains me to hear the unhappiness and regret in your post. Allow Father God to take the hurts and replace them with joyful songs! (((((hugs)))))

Larry, I hope to see a post from you later, with good news about both you and Pat.  Love you!

We went out and tried to pick the rest of our cherries, but the tree is too tall for us to reach the high ones.
Darrel got on the ladder for a while and picked, but decided it was too dangerous to be doing that at 81.
I agree, we need to use the good sense the Lord gave us and not take chances of falling!  The cherries are now pitted and setting in the refrigerator.  I'll decide what to do with them after while.

We are going down to see Daughter Diane, take the box of Christmas gifts Mark sent with us from Florida, check on her apricot tree (always way more than they can use) and get another geranium for in front of the house.  The hail devastated mine.  It looks like they will come out of it, but I have a space needing one more!

I hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

Good Saturday morning.  I'm just checking in 'cause I don't have anything to talk about. ???
I got to pick up my new glasses yesterday and I was so surprised at how clear and sharp everything looked through the new lenses.  I surely didn't know my sight had gotten so bad.

The meds seem to be working quite well.  The shingles haven't spread any further and seem a lot less severe although there is still some pain and swelling around my left eye.

I keep smiling as I read your comments about the "old and frail" people who are 81 and such. I'm 84 and still don't feel I'm old and certainly not frail.  :D  Although I suppose that day is coming.  :-\

Hopefully all y'all will have a blessed day on this last day of June.  I'm praying for that to be so, and for all your illnesses and problems.  Sending lots of love your way....

Greetings Janet  Ah, you were talking about political debates.  On looking up what you mentioned, could it be said, others might have the same feeling regarding the other party.

I recall a politician saying these few words,

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others

Those few words are very true

Well I have been told, I certainly was not expecting that....I maybe only 68 but I do have MS, and then see how old and frail you become...and if I want to still grieve over the loss of my three dogs and Richard that is totally up to me...
I apologise if I am so miserable and affecting others around me by making them unhappy, I am assuming my posts are too depressing for members to read....I guess we have to be happy all the time or put on a brave face or a false face...

We have a beautiful day so far this morning and think the rest of the day will be the same although getting into the 90's again.  I had a very good night sleep last night  and rather than  getting up at midnight as has often been the case I didn't get up till after 4 am and I'm taking things pretty easy. Earlier this morning I put an order in at Costco that I will get in 3 to 5 day.  This item did not require an order of $75 or more for free shipping.  I realized I was trying to go to sleep again here in my easy chair so I lay down but thenI  I would listen to the church service that was recorded last week and was the last Sunday for our minister.  It was a very nice service and at the end they shared some statistics of many of the things he had done including bringing seeing more than  400 people into our congregation,  performing many funerals and wedding and other thing and they left out quite a few of them such as  hospital visits.

We had no visitors yesterday.  Scott will be here today to pick up his drill and finish installing his new dishwasher. I hope'll be able to stay at least a few minutes with me as I enjoy any time I spend with him.

Janet,  I am getting great pleasure out of giving things away. I'm going to make the proposal to our son, with a agreement from Pat, that we start doing some things to improve the inside of his home and then when it is cooler in the fall do some  outside restoration that will show from the street.

I have been in touch  with my best friend Rod's daughter and it appears that he will probably be released today.  I think there is a72 hour rule for evaluation.

Janet,  a little later today I will send you an email that hopefully will  help you get on S&F's  and overcome the password problem.  Wow, I am impressed that Mark has already done his Christmas shopping and has it back in Kansas this early.

Jane, getting new glasses is something to talk about thing we do every day. I think a pond a time we all just have to tell her pop in and say hi and let it go for the day. but that restart the Teleno I'm not a member you know that we are still doing OK or not to be a thing on Pix .  Wrong laptop is dead after I got rested up from overdoing but I look in the mirror I do seem to see it earlier for a little man that was going around a lot of unnecessary good now they parted. I'm sure it must be a lot easier on my heart to hear around the 50 pounds I have lost already open reduction going lately so I think that most of the hood maybe Sean I don't mind at all from Lakeview so I can use simulation of it overnight and during the day when I talk . I do not feel old and I think that is because of our body they age and remind not equipped for tonight.

Jackie,  hey no need for you to apologize for how you're feeling. I think we all would share the hope that you will not leave this site. One person cannot know how another feels and I feel confident to say we all have just been trying to help you and not criticizing you. We each process grief differently.

Carol

Everyone processes grief differently.  AND, that is OK.
I admire anyone who can talk about their feelings - sometimes, those who have gone through dark years can tell us the their way to get through the sad time and help us look for guidance.

Just this week, I said "I  am feeling sad".  and wouldn't you know I opened the bible and it was written "Do not feel sad". It was the perfect thing for me to read - my life is not being guided by me.

It is that time of the year for afternoon sudden storms and thunder with lightning.  Of course, just as we want to meet two of the boys for supper.  Wouldn't you know?  Thankfully, our oldest son just got off a plane so he wasn't delayed.

Janet:  Where are you headed with your RV?  You may have to wait until September when weather calms.  A group of 43 youngsters & leaders just left for Omaha to work on flood damaged homes.

Larry:  That is a great idea - helping spruce up Scott's home.  I had to take my Bernina into a shop and it needs a tune-up.  Two weeks until they get to it.

No,have to get going here.  Oldest son is arriving for three days.  I made an all vegetable soup plus an oatmeal with dried fruit for two meals both in the instant pot pressure cooker.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  A quiet day at home yesterday.

Janet

My dear Jackie,
I prayed before I posted, as I was typing, and also afterward, that you would hear my heart and not feel criticized or condemned.  I am so sorry you didn't hear my heart through my words.  I know you are grieving, as you have every right to do, and please, please accept my sincere apologies for hurting you.  Believe me, that was the last thing I intended to do.  But I did.  Now, is there any way to make up for that?  I wanted you to feel uplifted and encouraged, to look forward to a better and happier and more peaceful life than you are living right now because of all your painful losses.  I had no right to impose my beliefs on you--that wasn't my purpose either!  I promise to be far more careful in choosing my words in the future.

So please come back and vent about whatever you like.
I shall stay mum, but still enjoy having you in our group.  I'm not unkind, really. And I'm so sorry for this misunderstanding.  Will you forgive me?

Hi everyone on this first of July. Where has the first half of this year gone? It looks like we are to have a very nice day with some sun this morning and some partly cloudy this afternoon and a low chance of rain but it's going to get hot up to 95 later today.

I am trying to get an early start  posting to the discussions as  yesterday couldn't stay awake but so far haven't fallen asleep . I  woke up about midnight and Pat was waiting for me so that I could do some bug hunting. She had seen a big water bug or something like that and she doesn't like bugs, to say the least, so I spent the next hour or so looking through the pantry and while I was doing that I got rid of a lot of big boxes of soda did some re-organization of it but found no  waterbug or whatever. I told her the bug was more afraid of her than she was a bit but she wasn't buying that.  Maybe it'll show up later today.  I don't blame the bugs trying to get in from the heat out there but they're not gonna hurt us whether   water bugs or palmetto bugs or whatever they are. It is now after 3 AM and I have gone back to bed. . I told Pat that I'd probably spend most of the day in bed here either sleeping or using my laptop and just getting some extra rest. I'm not feeling as strong as I did yesterday although yesterday was a very good day. We had a surprise visit  from Elizabeth that we had not expected but was most welcome. She came to talk to me about getting a new rug for their room and had done all the homework in terms of prices and where it where it can be accomplished without breaking the bank so to speak. She's very smart young lady and I  supported her and what she said. I  told her that I wanted she abd  Jennifer to make the decision after all it's their room and they're going to be using the rug.

Scott did come yesterday afternoon for a short time and I was able to discuss with him several things that are minor and will probably be done Wednesday evening when they're all here for our dinner together. Scott said he will definitely be taking his two days off, which are Wednesday and Thursday.  As of now we are planning an outing  Wednesday as Pat wants to get a haircut and we have a couple of other stops, including eating lunch at Sonny's BBQ, as I mentioned yesterday.

As far as I know at this point we are not expecting any visitors today but if someone stops they  will certainly be welcome as I can always talk with someone.

It is a couple of hours early to be having my breakfast  I asked Pat if she would take care of her own breakfast today. She has about a day and a half of the prednisone  to take and she hasn't really slept very much in quite a few hours and didn't again last night but hopefully that will soon end. She has a terrible cough t said her throat was not sore which is good.

Carol, it sounds like you will be pretty busy the next couple day but that you are getting prepared early. It is interesting how just when we need something like the Bible verse that it appears.  There must be a lot of quilters in the Denier area since you have to wait to get your machine serviced.  As I recall it probably takes about that long at the Bernita dealer to have a machine serviced.

Ellie, I welcome a quite day and this week with the holiday on Thursday I will have he aid here only on Tuesday.  I can always take a sponge bath.

Janet, I think you expressed to Jackie what we all intended.  I know I came across too strong.  In Al-Anon we have a saying "to take what you like and to leave the rest".

[b}{color=black]I found this in the Laugh and Lift email for today and thought it was so good I wanted to further share it:

The Lift

Seven Ways To Whet Your Appetite For God's Word
 (By Connilyn Cossette & Anonymous)
 [Edited]

Has the Word lost its sweetness to you? Here are some ways you can stir up your appetite:

 1) Instead of reading the Word for the sake of knowledge, or to prove a theological point - read it as a love letter from the God of the Universe to you.

 2) Ask the Father to give you a new appetite for his Word, to make it come alive to you in a fresh new way, and show you how Jesus is written in every chapter from Genesis to Revelation.

 3) Slow down, take it in a chapter or even a verse at a time; savor the Word like you would a delicious dessert.

 4) Go back to the beginning, start with Genesis, look for evidence of God's grace in each chapter.

 5) Read it like a child, with the eyes of simple belief. Read the Word for what it actually says and not what you have been told.

 6) Ask the Holy Spirit to show you new things that you've never seen before. You'll be surprised what jumps out at you when you go searching.

 7) Don't get caught up in commentaries or what some other people say the Word is saying but rather let the Lord speak to you through the Word itself.

Taste and see that God's Word is "...more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. (Psalm 19:10)

Carol. Preserving the faith......I prefer to think that my Father is protecting me from what could be much worth.  He is my hope and His mercy and grace sustain us.  Love you Carol I will be praying.

Janet perhaps Oldiesman can give you your username, and you can change your password.  I cannot get on either however I never did go on very often.  Also there may be someone on CP that could find and give you your username?

Jane you are an inspiration to me.  If I can do all that you do when  am in my 80's I will be happy.

Jackie to go from disappointment to disappointment can be wearing. I have a friend who only see the bad things in her life.  I also have a  different friend who looks at the blessings that God provides us with.  Both have had many disappointments and have reasons to be discouraged.  The second friend I am referring to takes this verses in Philippians

Philippians 4:8 and 9  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Life can be so hard, and if we turn our face to the Bible we can overcome everything with God's help.  Jackie I am not preaching at you , rather I am preaching at me.  If I dwell on the 4th chapter of Philippians the Word "gets me through" the hard times.  Try meditating on this chapter as will I, lets see if the words will change our mindset.  I am praying for you.

June 30th my grand daughter died.  Heather arranged to have family out yesterday, to celebrate Kimi's life.  I decided to let them have use of the "farm" while I took our two fur babies out to take some pictures. John and I had a wonderful day, I feel we celebrated Kimi's life by taking pictures, something she loved to do, and kept the stress off Zeke at the same time.  He loves little kids, however listening to their squealing in delight causes him extreme stress as he thinks someone is being hurt.  This was easier for the Boys.

Have a wonderful day folks, Your 4th of July is coming up this week, so enjoy the celebrations and stay safe.

Love to you all

Carol

It is always comforting to come to this place and read the warm and wonderful posts.  Thank all of you!

Greetings Larry  A splendid long post from you and I wonder if you were what we call in the UK and perhaps America, a 'touch typist'  in that you learned to type at speed without looking at the keyboard.  Before hubby's health issues, he was a touch typist.  Are there many men on the site who are touch typists?

Today, I went to  one of the churches on the Island, as it is Church flower week and the flower arrangements were superb.  When I returned home I re potted a pot bound 'Adams Needle', with instructions from hubby.  As he told me there is a right way to re pot a very large Adams Needle and a wrong way.  I decided to do it my way first and made a bit of a mess of it.  Then I asked for instructions and do you know what, it took me half the time to do the job.  I will listen in future!  /size]
Jane you are an inspiration to me.  If I can do all that you do when  am in my 80's I will be happy.

Judy, I don't do much at all any more. ??? Just sit around all day with my computer, TV, and Kindle.  Occasionally I go to the store for groceries, and once a month to the free Senior Movies. I don't even walk out to the mailbox every day. There's no one here but me so I live just the way I want, which usually includes daily naps and staying up past midnight!  ::)

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Greetings Jane Walker  I rarely retire before 1.30am.  I recall that friends of mine, who similarly like me retired late, gave ourselves the nickname 'The Night Owls', because we retired so late.

Ellie, let me join your club of night owls.  That certainly describes me!!

Hi everyone on what is going to be a very hot day here in South Carolina as we expect to get up to about 97 today by late afternoon. It looks like it's going to be a nice day around here as Pat has had a good night as did I. She was able to go to bed fairly early for her and I haven't heard her coughing like she has been the last few days and I think she's just generally feeling better and that sure makes me feel better.

The aid called a little after 8 am saying her early appointment had cancelled and that she was on her way. to help me with my shower then I will have free time until about 3 o'clock this afternoon when the Comcast technician should be here to fix my Internet problem. I called yesterday and explained to the tech exactly what had been happening at this house for the last 4 1/2 years thinking that we had a problem with the equipment but realizing that changing the equipment  didn't solve the problem. I told him in a logical way what have been happening and he said he agreed with me in every step that the tech, who was young really didn't know what he was doing as couldn't even put the plug in the wall straight. I told the tech that I I was not going to get up and do a lot of trying to get the back online that we've done so much in the past and I simply wanted somebody to come out here and fix the problem. He was able to find a spot this afternoon and will have a tech here as I indicated above.

So I am expecting to enjoy a nice afternoon of rest and listening to  some beautiful music and also switch over to Willy's Roadhouse on XM radio which I enjoy because I like the old-time country songs and there's some commentary that goes along with a lot of the songs that provide some interesting background of the people involved with Willie and other country stars. I had my breakfast late so will just have a light lunch, probably that Dilly Bar that Scott just brought me (I hadn't expected to see him today so that was a great treat.

I have taken care of a load of laundry that was basically my things anyway and put them away, emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away and now we have another load being washed. . I realized last evening that I can get down my new ramp in the garage by holding on the nice railing we have and using the cane and then I have the fold up aluminum walker out in the garage and I'm going to keep  at the bottom of the ramp and it won't be necessary then for me to use a walker to get down the ramp as II can use the aluminum one to get over to the car and it should make getting in and out of the car much easier as well as not having to take the walker with me. We will have the transport chair in the truck so it will be available if needed. We have some plans for tomorrow that I will give me a chance to test them out.

It seems that everyday is a different adventure as  I had no idea that today would turn out as it has so far.
.

Judy, it sounds like you made a wise decision in getting out and taking pictures and keeping Zeke from getting too stressed.

Ellie, yes I am a touch typist and love to type.  My dad had an old Underwood typewriter with those round keys.  Before I was eligible to take typing in high school, you had to be a junior or senior, I put adhesive tape over the keys and then started typing.  As a professional I wasn't allowed to type on the job.  Finally when computers were introduced I was finally able to type my writing at work and it was much more efficient. In this day and age with the computer I expect there are many men who are touch typists but also a lot of one finger typists.  I am sure your husband knows a great deal about planting.  Sometimes we men do know what we are talking about although if you see men represented on many TV shows we are bumbling fools.

Jane, you have earned the right as well as the need to take things easy.  That is also my goal for Pat with her bad back and feet. As long as I am able I intend to not be an invalid as I enjoy accomplishing something every day but I also now have he freedom to do or not to do what I want and it gives me a lot of joy and peace of mind. We don't go to the mailbox each day.  With the USPS app we can see what is being delivered so have options.

Janet

I'm late getting here today. I've been working on editing George's book, and have it to the point he wanted to get to for this week.  I put in 19 hours on it since last Wednesday.

We went on the Senior bus last night to Liberal for the wonderful Patriotic music program they put on each year. It was so well done, professional quality!  It's done by a large Baptist church over there, and they don't charge admission, but consider it a community service.  I wish all of you could have been there, I know you would have greatly enjoyed it, as we did.

The many ant stings (bites?  I need to google that) that I got on my legs while picking cherries have been itching so bad, makes me want to claw my skin off!  I put something different on it after my shower today, and it seems to be calming the itching down, thank God! I'm so sleepy, because the itching has kept me awake for two nights now.  I believe a nap is in order today!

Jane, glad you're doing so well!  When I mentioned our ages, it wasn't in any way to say that we are old or frail, just that we're aware that one fall could change our lives!  So we are trying to remember to be careful.

Our wonderful house cleaner is here today, for two hours. She surely does make my life easier!

Grandson Curtis came and took us to lunch today...Sweet!!Love those grandkids!

Larry, hope the rest of your day goes well!

Well, it looks like Larry and Janet are the only ones here (so far).

Janet, I wasn't addressing my comments to anyone in particular, I just notice how often a person is referred to as "elderly" and then learn they are younger than me!  I don't feel old until someone in my family points it out, although I am finding it more and more difficult to do a lot of things I have always taken for granted.

Larry, I don't know about earning the right to take it easy. I just know that, ever since Joy died, I don't seem to have any incentive or motivation in life.  I guess you could say my joy also died with her.

I was reading the paper that comes with some of my meds, and saw that one "may cause drowsiness" ... aha there's my excuse!  I seldom manage to watch a TV program to it's conclusion if I'm sitting in my recliner.  I have to get up every few minutes and walk around, get a cup of coffee, wash dishes, or come to this computer to stay awake!
Now that's my excuse and I think I'll hang on to it.

Thinking of grandkids... I have 8 but they have given my 15 great grandkids.  Recently Karmen celebrated her 8th birthday.  I messaged her mom, Becky, to be sure and let her know how much I love my Special K.  Becky made a voice reply (I don't know how) and Karmen said "Thank you, Great Grandma, I love you sooo much. You're my special G"
