Morning Devotional...

From Chris Saunders

"Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them that shall be the Heirs of Salvation?"
HEB 1.
We read about so many angels in our Bible, ministering to man, like the Angel for instance that strengthened our Saviour after his temptation and the one who strengthened Him in the garden. Then the One who wakened Elijah from his depressed sleep and showed him a fire and food prepared for him.. just what he needed actually.. To know that he was being cared for after his work on Mount Carmel with Ahab and the prophets of baal.
We may find out one day how many times our Guardian Angels were sent to deliver us from danger.
But the worship of such beings is strictly prohibited.. They are indeed God's messengers.
May God bless your week and keep you from evil.

Judy, I appreciate your thoughts today.
No, we are not to worship angels!  I worried about a sister-in-law who got so much "into" angels that I feared she did worship them. And the last conversation I had with her, as they took her to surgery , she said, "Janet, I'm scared!  Pray!  Ask God to send angels!" How I do hope I will meet her again in heaven.

We have been discussing whether or not we should go on the trip we have booked for April 2, to Spain and Portugal.  What do you think, friends?

I need to back up and read, see how many days I missed.  How I miss my email notifications!

I cannot find the earlier posts, sorry!

Janet I haven't moved it till today Friday.

A friend posted this on Facebook.

No One Knows the Day or Hour (when the world will end as we know it)

Well am I surprised or what? I see Janet posting again.  Welcome back Janet. No I would certainly not be traveling at this time buy  any means other than my own car.

My grand daughter texted me some pictures of Ron and a copy of his death certificate.  Boy oh Boy has the grief hit me again today when I read that and the obituary from new newspaper where he grew up, it didn't even mention the nmes of his brothers and sister or  parents., Only his children and grand children. It didn't even give the name of his daughter who passed away last May. My grand daughter said she would be sending me a package and some ashes. I asked if I could have his cross that was in one of the pictures.

We had to throw away all grapefruit from the little tree this year because of brown spots on the skin.  The grapefruit was only the size of lemons so it was odd to say the least.

We are keeping away from crowds as much as possible and washing hands  much longer - should be singing Happy Birthday twice at least while washing with soap and water.  Saying prayers for everyone affected - and people who have to work with the public and have to travel.

Janet:  Our daughter & SIL have booked a trip to Italy soon and the airlines should be refunding their cost but it remains to be seen what the airline will do.  Son-in-law has tons of mileage - I hope they are treated well. Glad you are home.  Their son is graduating this spring and going into pilot school - we wonder if that is still a good idea.

Marilyn:  sorry for your loss.  May you keep faith in all happenings.

Time to keep on here - now is clearing the desk clutter.  Don is starting on taxes.  Not a fun thing but just glad we can do this without asking for help.

From Chris Saunders this morning!

"For as the children are made of flesh and blood He also took part of the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." Heb. 2.
What a passage of scripture... What a deep, powerful, message we have here.
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.. To save us from ending up in hell, to set us free from the terrible fear of dying.. Dying holds most people in dread, they don't know where they are going, they hope for heaven but have no hope, for they are not saved, they ignore Christ all their lives living just how they wish, then when death approaches they start to worry, yes, you can repent on your deathbed but it rarely happens, but Christ our Saviour was born of a woman conceived by God the Holy Spirit, and lived sinless! And so by living sinless death could not touch Him.. Death is only for sinners. Jesus overcame death.. He could not die. He had to lay down His life for us, the devil had no hold on Him. He the sinless Lamb of God.. God in human form, tasted death for everyone, and when we trust Him with our life He brings us into His Kingdom here on earth and guarantees us a place with Him in Heaven, a Christian does not fear dying, he or she know where they are going and Who they are going to meet. My sweet wife had no fear of death. When she was diagnosed with incurable cancer she couldn't wait to go, and I can't wait to see her again. God bless you.

I got this info from a man my husband and I know well. The writer was working with the Corona virus in 1974. I am reminded of this verse.  Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV) What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

Now lets let common sense rule our minds, and look logically at this virus. This is long but take the time to read, and digest what is written.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

On the corona virus, Covid-19-Virus some useful information

Two interesting notes - the first I mentioned - about prevention... the second is symptoms and how to know you have it.... Both have good tidbits... Regarding gloves I'm now seeing some articles against them but the point is to use them then throw them out - ie - use them in the store, drop in garbage on way out... use the gas pump handle wiht gloves, chuck them... etc.

Very worthwhile to read.

Dear Family and Friends, as some of you may recall, when I was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego, I was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (the 1970s). I was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, I have kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources.

The current projections for its expansion in the US are only probable, due to continued insufficient worldwide data, but it is most likely to be widespread by mid to late March and April.

Here is what I have done and the precautions that I take and will take. These are the same precautions I currently use during our influenza seasons, except for the mask and gloves.:

1) NO HANDSHAKING! Use a fist bump, slight bow, elbow bump, etc.

2) Use ONLY your knuckle to touch light switches. elevator buttons, etc.. Lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove.

3) Open doors with your closed fist or hip - do not grasp the handle with your hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. Especially important on bathroom and post office/commercial doors.

4) Use disinfectant wipes at the stores when they are available, including wiping the handle and child seat in grocery carts.

5) Wash your hands with soap for 10-20 seconds and/or use a greater than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from ANY activity that involves locations where other people have been.

6) Keep a bottle of sanitizer available at each of your home's entrances. AND in your car for use after getting gas or touching other contaminated objects when you can't immediately wash your hands.

7) If possible, cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and discard. Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more!

What I have stocked in preparation for the pandemic spread to the US:

1) Latex or nitrile latex disposable gloves for use when going shopping, using the gasoline pump, and all other outside activity when you come in contact with contaminated areas.

Note: This virus is spread in large droplets by coughing and sneezing. This means that the air will not infect you! BUT all the surfaces where these droplets land are infectious for about a week on average - everything that is associated with infected people will be contaminated and potentially infectious. The virus is on surfaces and you will not be infected unless your unprotected face is directly coughed or sneezed upon. This virus only has cell receptors for lung cells (it only infects your lungs). The only way for the virus to infect you is through your nose or mouth via your hands or an infected cough or sneeze onto or into your nose or mouth.

2) Stock up now with disposable surgical masks and use them to prevent you from touching your nose and/or mouth (We touch our nose/mouth 90X/day without knowing it!). This is the only way this virus can infect you - it is lung-specific. The mask will not prevent the virus in a direct sneeze from getting into your nose or mouth - it is only to keep you from touching your nose or mouth.

3) Stock up now with hand sanitizers and latex/nitrile gloves (get the appropriate sizes for your family). The hand sanitizers must be alcohol-based and greater than 60% alcohol to be effective.

4) Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel ANY "cold-like" symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available.

I, as many others do, hope that this pandemic will be reasonably contained, BUT I personally do not think it will be. Humans have never seen this snake-associated virus before and have no internal defense against it. Tremendous worldwide efforts are being made to understand the molecular and clinical virology of this virus. Unbelievable molecular knowledge about the genomics, structure, and virulence of this virus has already been achieved. BUT, there will be NO drugs or vaccines available this year to protect us or limit the infection within us. Only symptomatic support is available.

I hope these personal thoughts will be helpful during this potentially catastrophic pandemic. Good luck to all of us.

With apologies to those who have already heard too much about the corona virus, you may want to read this ...

How can one know if infectedd by Corona virus... Quick test

I got this from a friend of mine whose brother is at the Stanford hospital board. This is their feedback for now on Corona virus.

The new Corona virus may not show sign of infection for many days. How can one know if he/she is infected?

By the time they have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% Fibrosis and it's too late.

SIMPLE SELF CHECK

Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it proves there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection. In critical time, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air.

DRINK WATER
Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous. Please send and share this with family and friends.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun.
4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water!

THE SYMPTOMS
1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days
2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.

JudyB

I hope that the above information will put your mind at ease with the precautions to take, and the reasons for the spread!  The point I find interesting is that Heat kills the virus, and to avoid cold and ice drinks!

God bless you and be with you as you travel through the coming weeks.

Hello everyone!

I have had difficulty finding March!   :-[   Anyway, here I am! Yes, the corona virus is a terrible thing, upsetting the entire world.  I've never seen/heard anything like it in my lifetime.  So far, Kansas has only 11 cases, all of which are in Johnson County, the extreme Eastern part of the state.  We're in the Western part, so hope nobody from there or any of the neighboring states brings it any closer to us!

There is good information for protecting ourselves out there; we just have to follow it.  And pray for early summer weather, as it doesn't like heat at all!

Our trip was canceled by the company due to low enrollment, so we are getting a full refund, including the airfare!!  Happy about that!

And our little town has been on a "boil advisory" for the water since last Wednesday, due to a break in the main water line.  So most restaurants have been closed, school's out this week anyway for Spring Break, and our nice Health Fair was postponed.  And people here are buying up stuff like crazy!  Reminds me of the Y2K craziness.

We are well, staying home except for church and gym, and occasional trip to grocery store for a few items.

Hello to everyone, and I hope I can stay up with you now!

Janet:  So happy for you that your trip was cancelled.  I do hope our daughter & SIL will have their trip to Italy cancelled in June.

We were planning to drive to Minnesota for a university graduation.  Our math major grandson will have no program and that is good to keep everyone safe. Granddaughter and our daughter can do everything online so that keeps them working.

We are set to drive home Saturday morning with a motel in New Mexico set up for that night.  I will have food in the car.  This year, it is taking me two days longer to close up and empty freezer, etc.

Judy:  We heard about heat killing this disease - it is still snowing off and on at home.  Your PM was on the news this morning and talking about what most nations are doing.  It is nice to know our leaders are working together - how blessed we all are for good works together.

o

JudyB

Our PM is keeping the roads for illegals open even though the borders are closed to everyone else. He has said the borders are closed between the US and Canada....except for the illegals... As the Natives say "He talks out of both sides of his mouth!" We don't trust him, and want a vote out of non-confidence....a new vote for a new leader. If we went with your system he would be gone, he lost the popular vote by 100 thousand.....

However we as christians need to take 2 Chronicles 7:14 to heart.   If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
We need to follow the first part to get the second. Humble ourselves, pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways.

Carol

Judy:  Thank you for the sites, such a strong message and much needed.

We arrived home  yesterday after a drive in wind and snow. We drove from Santa Fe, New Mexico in high winds (some trucks pulled over) and snow.  There is a bit of snow on the ground and it is sunny today.  We stopped at a store to buy a few things.  Not much on the shelves.

Church is asking for people to sew masks.  I hope they have the correct cloth as that is important.  I will check with them and sure can help. First, must unpack and check in (phone) neighbors and friends.

Judy:  Keep on encouraging all of us.  We need your moral boosters so much - especially since news is doom and gloom.

One good remark for today, I will leave it with you.

The Lord wants us to rely on him and his word.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

Janet

Good morning, friends!  It's a beautiful day here, although we started with heavy fog.  We have taken Sandy dog to the groomer (Met her in town in a parking lot) and then a quick trip to the store for some needed groceries.  I think we are set now to stay home for several more days, other than meeting to pick up the dog at 5:30.

I have such peace in my heart, that peace passing understanding.
God said that "no plague shall come nigh my dwelling!"  And that He is my protecter, my shield, my rock; my sure foundation, and He has promised to supply all my need.  So why should I fear? I just feel an excitement in my spirit about what God plans to do for us through this.  I know He has a GOOD plan for His kids, and for the countries who honor Him.  :)  ^-^  <3  <3

I am doing some painting to occupy some of my time, and having such fun doing it!  No gathering this Wednesday, but I wasn't planning to go, anyway.  I will miss it, but we will be happy to see each other when we can meet again!

Carol, glad you are home, and hope you stay put now for a long time! You don't need to be driving in snow and wind!  Please take care of yourselves and be safe!

Love to each of you, and prayers for continued good health.

Good morning fellow Cp'ers, Our state is on lock down, so  my pedicure appt for today is gone  I was going to walk Freckles in the mall after that appointment, but now that is out of the question. However I bought  rain suit and she gas two nice raincoats so we can still take walks in our neighborhood. All non essential businesses have been  told to close. I still have to call  the nail salon and make sure she is closed, I don't want her to  get a citation for being open.

All is well here and my family elsewhere is ok too. I keep checking on them. Even my daughter that  was estranged for so many years, has been texting with me since Ronnie's death in January. My grand daughter still hasn't sent me  any of his ashes.  I bought a real nice pendant with his birthstone for the ashes, but  she keeps delaying sending them.

Hey all y'all stay safe.

We are forcing ourselves into lock-down.  I was able to talk to two friends on the street yesterday.  No more meeting in homes.  Praying for all the people without jobs and street people without a roof over their heads.  It took three days but a grocery store will package everything and we can pick up tomorrow afternoon.
Don is so vulnerable - and I can't catch the bug either or would have to isolate somewhere.

I found a boxed game & we will try to learn Sequence - for whatever it is worth.  Don plays cribbage with neighbors and grands.  I could try to learn it again.

Stay safe!

Carol

There is a new (to me) song I just watched and listened to on the internet.  Perfect timing.  Dolly Parton sings "Hello God".

We are getting many phone calls for sales, mortgages, and so forth.  They promise to take us off the list but that never happens.

Don is not sleeping well at all - he has to nap more.  He needs to adjust to our higher altitude.

We are staying away - at least standing far away from anyone talking to me.  No welcome home hugs.

I spotted 3 Bobcats next to our house walking to the ravine in back.  The experts say animals are seen more and more in the suburbs since traffic has lessened.  Wondering if that bear will return - I hope not.

One cousin's daughter is going to have a c-section soon.  We are all concerned as this will be her first child and she is not young anymore.  Talk about a miracle - they have waited years for this child.

If ever we are in a storm it is now!

Carol

Judy:  Thank you for "Eye of the storm" music.  Perfect to this time and peppy too.

A new to me book, by Max Lucado, is on loan from a friend.

We lived in the country in Minnesota raising the children for some years and that is where going to the grocery 7 miles away was not always a good idea.  So, I usually have some things handy and I used to can food too - not now though.

Take that back - I read the Max Lucado  some time ago - that is OK for me because I probably forgot most of it.

Janet

Jacqueline, listening to the birds sing is great! Let them remind you that just as God watches over every sparrow, He watches over you.  The worst thing we can do in times like this is to get into fear.  Fear works, just as faith does.  But fear draws to us the very thing we feared.  (Not trying to preach to you, just encourage you!)

There has never been a time like this before.  In the Great Depression, people suffered lack and want; loss of jobs and livlihood, even homes.  Sometimes they were hungry, but I have never heard or read of anyone starving to death.  Neighbors helped neighbors,  friends, and strangers, too.   And when it was over, everyone dusted themselves off and got back to work. There was no multi-trillion dollar handout to everyone!  Yes, I do believe in helping people, but I don't think anyone should collect more on unemployment than they made while working!  Why would they want to go back to work?  (Unless, like right-thinking people, they like to and want to work!)

Okay, enough already!  Sorry.  Guess you can tell I am more than upset about this.  But GOD is still in control.

I will be happy when lockdown is over!  I miss my friends, my family and my church!!

Love and prayers for each of you!

There is a song out by Dolly Parton singing "Hello God".  I like country music but this is for everyone.  I am having some dizzy problems with a prescription.  It makes me very careful to walk even in the house.

We had several inches of snow last night and as always the ravine in back looked wonderful.  There were animal tracks.  The best part was watching dogs romping around and having a great time.  So glad we missed this snowfall by a day and half.  I am making a grocery list online and do not know when I can pick it up yet.  It will be about two weeks and sometimes they cannot give you the item or will try an exchange.  We don't care - their exchange is OK with us.  Not fussy.  Just so happy to have a service like this - they put it in the trunk.  Don can certainly not go into a store and I cannot bring the viscous germ into the house.

Janet:  They voted this payoff and did you know the woman senator from California made sure a ton of our money is being given to cultural arts Linclon Center  How many US citizens will ever get to see that place?

Judy:  Are you seeing signs of spring?  Thank you for the beautiful music & their sweet faces.

Janet:  Police are out watching for people who have no business being on the roads.  Some tickets.

Janet

I got sidetracked listening to Lance Walnau, and it was 45 minutes long--but well worth it!  Judy, thanks for the links.  We all need our faith strengthened during this time of craziness.

I checked in with both my daughters today, am happy that they and theirs are doing well.  Daughter near and her husband may have to permanently close their businesses.  Our governor has issued a statewide closing order for all but "essential" businesses.  And I highly doubt that a greenhouse/nursery and car washes would be considered essential.  They would qualify for help, but will it be enough?  Times that try our faith, for sure!  But I do know God's plans for us are always and only for our good!

Carol, you and I were typing at the same time.  I watched/listened to Dolly singing "Hello God" and loved it.  I guess it's been out for a long time, but it surely fits this time!

Carol, I'm not going out unnecessarily, and don't think our few cops would bother with me, anyway.  Went to town this morning for a prescription for Darrel, then went thru drive-up window at donut shop, and also same at bank--the straight home again.  We don't have access to delivery of anything, not even pizza, as we live out of city limits.

Yes, Carol, I'm furious about the Democrats' add-ins to a bill intended to help people who are out of work, small businesses suffering, etc.  "Never let a good crisis go to waste!  That's when we can do the most damage to the country by our idiot wastefulness that has nothing to do with the crisis!"  GRRRRR!!!

We now have first case of coronavirus in adjoining county here, and one in adjoining Colorado county.  But the manufactured virus has no power nor protection against PRAYER!!

Please stay safe, everybody!

hello everyone,, though 's better check in. We are both fine just hanging in  there and only going out to take Freckles for her daily walks vand to get groceries.

I had a wonderful 1.5 hour talk with my estranged daughter yesterday We talked  o a lot about family history on my side and told her things she had never known. We have been talking a lot since Ronnie's death in  January.

Today I was  making  bread dough in my bread machine and about  90 minutes into the 1 hour 20 minutes the machine stopped. I went to to see why and Keith was there telling me he unplugged the machine because it made too much noise. I was so angry with him.  The bread turned out OK, I had to take it out rather than restart the machine.  I haven't cut it yet so I hope it is  as good as it would have been on the inside.

I need a vacation!!!! Alone. I got ready for my shower this morning and there he was  ready to get in  with me. He did and I told him that is not going to happen again because I like to take my time in the shower and not have to take care of both of us after I get out. I have to help him dress. Enough of my  complaining now. See you al  tomorrow. God Bless and be safe.

What a beautiful song!  Thank you, Judy. Well, did you all attend online church this morning?  We did, it was very enjoyable.  Then I listened to a short teaching by Andy Stanley. I don't care for Charles Stanley, but I love Andy!  Such a great teacher.

I watched some little videos from Michaels, and am going to my studio and try one or two before I forget how they showed me to do them!
Won't take long.  lol

Looking at Larry Hanna's dear face in the random images on the left. I miss that sweet man so much!  And our dear Pat, of course!  And Jeanne, and, and, and.  Guess this is the way it is when we get older.  :'(

But God's still on HIs throne, and He still loves us, even with all our faults!  Praise HIs Name.

We have terrible wind here.  Hope the sun is shining on you, wherever you are!

Snow here has almost melted and another storm is waiting.  We only go out to get groceries - all churches are closed or should be closed.  Hope and pray that this exercise in closing so many places will help fight this virus.

Marilyn:  You have to be so pleased and grateful for a great chat with your daughter.  Super news!

Judy:  Have schools closed in your area?

Our family had an internet meeting at 5 locations - all cameras were on the screen.  It was with Zoom (much like SKYPE and we got to see all the faces talking to us and they saw us - isn't some technology fantastic?  One son lives in Montana.  The rest of us are in Colorado.  It is a free service, but I am sure there will be ads coming out - they have to make money too.

Janet:  I wish we would have met Larry.  We did have Pat stay one night with us while they were on a long trip.

We are really following orders and not meeting with neighbors or walking with them either.

Keep on keeping on.

Greetings Everyone   I am delighted to be posting once more.   Home responsibilities with hubby these pasts few months have necessitated my internet time being trimmed down to family time and a chosen few UK contacts.

Sad news around the world with Coronavirus.

Good morning Ellie and Jackie I come here every day to read the posts but I don't always post something.

This morningI made a new batch of my Fire Cider I like to,keep it on hand for various reasons. 1. it keeps the cramps out of my legs at night. 2. It keeps the colds away even help one to get over a cold quickly. So it is an organic medicinal tonic.

I did  take Freckles for her morning walk, The wind and rain has stopped for a bit, more is expected though today.

Carol I  m so happy to finally be in contact with my only daughter after all these  years. I always felt that when she needed more family history or medical history  that she would relent and  talk with me. The conversation was a cheerful one.

Good morning, friends.  I haven't listened to any of the musics linked to our site yet, as I have news today. Not good news, though.  Our Beth's husband John was found dead in his apartment yesterday afternoon.  They think he had been dead since Friday.  Since we are the only family he has here (his family all being in upstate New York) it falls to us to make arrangements for his burial, disposal of the few assets he had, and all that goes with it.  Since we cannot have a funeral because of the Corona virus, we are trying to figure out the best way to go.  Cremation, for sure. But he hasn't enough in his bank account to cover even that.  We talked to funeral director, told them there isn't enough money to cover what they are asking ($4415 for just a direct cremation!!) and asked what their rock bottom cost would be.  Instead of a direct answer, she asked, "How much is available?"   >:(  I had figured in my head after going to the bank to check what he has, and knowing of several hundred dollars he owes to other places, and gave her a figure of $2500.  We pretty much told them they can accept that or nothing!  Too greedy--and uncaring!

His apartment is stuffed full (he was a hoarder) filthy and smelly, and I don't even want to step foot in it without a mask and gloves at the minimum.  And it's the end of the month, so his rent will be due on Wednesday.  Wish there were someone I could hire to take care of cleaning it out, but they would have no idea what to keep and what to pitch. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated concerning this matter. Thanks.

JANET go directly to the crematorium. Get a price from them.  You will likely find it will be about half of what a funeral home charges.

Rebot

Greetings Janet   We send our condolences to you and the families of John.  It is sad time for you all.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.  Maybe the funeral director we see that at times, there is a caring side needed to business and that they will help to come to an agreement for John's funeral.

oh Janet...
...just read the sad news of your Beth's hubby John, your son-in-law, and all the problems you are now left to deal with..
...I am afraid under this world wide now C-Virus situation, this we will find will become the norm...no means to buy food, no means to get medical attention... there will be people all alone found dead in their homes who have had no one to check up on them...
I know we ( UK ) have what is known as a " paupers funeral."
He will now be with his darling Beth, God Bless John..in spirit if not in body..

From Chris Saunders:
"Yet a little while and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
Now the just will live by faith, but if any draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him." Heb. 10.
Oh He is coming as He promised, I do hope that many shall surrender their lives to Him before He comes, once He is here then it's too late!
And we who await His coming with clean hearts and minds must live by faith, believing all His promises, and living right, living not for ourselves but for Him, and doing our best for our neighbours, and especially loving our brothers in the Lord, brothers are saved, our neighbours are not.
God bless you and strengthen you.

Carol

Hello all!

Judy:  Thanks for the news from Chris.  Very timely.

Janet:  So sorry you are having to deal with the added work and cost of this - such a sad story.  Judy made a very interesting comment about dealing straight with the crematorium.

We give thanks each and every day for what we have - good family and friends and this little spot of comfort - to air our thoughts with cyber friends.

Jackie:  Sometimes I just can't think of anything to add to any of the posts and sometimes there are numerous interruptions with friends and family issues and duties.  So it goes with each of us.  Take care.

Greetings Everyone  Even though I do not live in the UK now.  I have been gladdened at how much the United Kingdom Administration are being of assistance to workers who are laid off due to the Coronavirus infection, by means of workplaces, shops, public houses, or what are called bars closing down.  In effect a huge number of employees and self-employed will have 80% of their wages or salary paid every month, they are off work.    In this sad time with coronavirus, having reassurances that families can pay their rent, buy food, and heat their properties, tells us everyone is working together in their efforts to overcome this pandemic.  Splendid to appreciate the community spirit that abounds at this time.  And I praise the viewpoint that the UK administration will spare no expense in assuring the people get the monies they need.   Ellie

Janet

Judy, that probably is a good suggestion for people who live where there is that choice.  But all crematories around here are either owned by or connected to specific funeral homes.  And I think they must be the greediest people on earth. >:( I  finally made an offer, saying, take it or not.  If not, we will have another funeral home come pick him up.  After conferring with the owner, my offer was accepted.  Still a big rip-off, in my opinion, but we're under pressure here.

John's sister has been wonderful about helping me.  She found John's Social Security number in some of their mother's papers, wrote the obituary, and is offering to pay for the cleanup of his apartment. Problem is, everything has to be gone through so carefully. We have been going through his mountain of unopened mail, old newspapers, junk mail, etc. and I found cards with cash inside, one with a $50 check.....oh, what a job.  :'(   We are taking today off, as had to have a break.  I want to go paint, but I'm just so tired.

Thanks for all the kind words, and for praying for us.  We need it!

A prayer for the world

God of love and hope,
you made the world and care for all creation,
but the world feels strange right now.
The news is full of stories about Coronavirus.
Some people are worried that they might get ill.
Others are anxious for their family and friends.
Be with them and help them to find peace.
We pray for the doctors and nurses and scientists,
and all who are working to discover the right medicines
to help those who are ill.
Thank you that even in these anxious times,
you are with us.
Help us to put our trust in you and keep us safe.

~Amen.

Greetings Everyone  Last week in the UK and on the Island here, people were asked to go out at 8.00pm to clap and show support for the splendid National Health Service (NHS).  I went out and hubby bravely made it out in his wheelchair.  Many of our neighbours were out clapping and the UK saw a splendid turnout of people.  It gladdens the heart to see the community spirit.  Tonight there is a clap for carers and I intend to be out there clapping and hubby has asked if I will  get him ready to go out. As he wants to clap for me as well.  Ellie

... we on our parkhome are doing this tonight at 8.pm...told this is for our NHS...I will do my best to stand outside my front door on the high up concrete step...We must not forget our Royal Mail postal deliveries and our courier services that deliver to our homes...Nor anyone else who are keeping our countries going, when everything else seems to have stopped..

Greetings Jackie  It could be for the NHS and Carers.  I will organise myself at 7.30pm to be outside for 8.00pm, I need that time to get hubby dressed and into his wheelchair.  He is a foot taller than me; it would be easier if we were the same height!  Without a doubt you have a splendid idea about all those who make life easier for us.  And we must include the politicians who do not have an easy job.  Take care when you are on the concrete steps.

... no need to go through all that trouble getting ready half hour before, just go to your doorstep for that minute or two of clapping altogether...I believe this is happening all around our UK at 8.pm, not sure it will be every night or just once a week on a Thursday only..Link...

Greetings Jackie  There was a splendid turnout of people clapping at 8.00pm last evening and one lady played the Manx National Anthem.  A lovely touch we thought.  Hubby would not have it any other way, to be dressed when outside the home. Although I am retired from my profession, getting him dressed is party of his therapy.  Ellie

I did light one candle.

I choose to look for the wonderful acts of goodness we hear/see each and every day.  Grieving  for the multitude of lost lives those who live on without their friends/family.

Janet:  Good news that one of John's relatives will be of some help.  Hang in there!

We have another snowfall - it began last night and stopped this morning.  The driveway was so slippery when taking trash out for pickup but I made it in time.

Rebot

Greetings Carol    Listening to the local station here on the Island, you hear of the good deeds people are doing to help others with the Covid-19 outbreak.   Like the man on low wages who got a rebate on his tax in the hundreds of pounds and gave it to charity.  Where we live a sports team are delivering bread and milk to those over seventy.  And many more stories as well.   Ellie

Janet

I came in and read yesterday, but was busy trying to trace down things concerning John.  How glad I am that I got him to go to bank lawyer with me and sign Powers of Attorney over to me, for both health care decisions (but no way was he going to a doctor nor a hospital) and he signed the other to Transfer on Death to me, everything he owned.  It isn't much, mainly his little Kia car, which he had just made the final payment on in February.  He has quite a collection of baseballs, signed by Yankees players, along with each player's card.  They are just thrown into boxes, so some of the glass boxes are broken, and they are in disarray.  I have no idea of their value, but his sister told me to watch for "his baseball card collection" that he's been accumulating since he was a kid. This is what we found, so I'm assuming that's what she meant.

We are finally ready for the guys to come haul off the rest and clean the place.  This is, by far, the hardest job I've ever had to do.  It breaks my heart knowing John was suffering so much the last few weeks of his life and still refusing any help we offered.  It truly didn't have to be this way, but it is, and it cannot be changed.

Nice that you folks in the UK are applauding the people working valiantly against this plague.  It is changing life for everyone in the world.

My back is aching, and I need to rest a bit.  Love to each of you here, and "Stay Home==Stay Safe!"

We are hearing of the good deeds people are doing here in UK

Carol..
.. you are so right, i have never known so many good acts of kindness, so many are pulling together, yes goodness can always come out of a tragedy even if we cant see that at the time, nor even imagine a new future that will be awaiting for whoever survives this outbreak, because our lives, will never ever be the same again.....Our whole world is living one big nightmare...

Janet....
... yes so many are placing their own lives at risk...and yet they still soldier on...

Greetings Janet I watched a news item about cabin crew from a leading UK airline making tea and coffee and handing out cakes to Nurses and Doctors after their Hospital shifts.  Though the cabin crew were stood down with airlines grounded, it shows the goodness in people.  And I must praise the food banks who look after people low on foodstuffs.  Ellie
