Hi Everyone. The morning starts out with a nice clear sky and it is suppose to stay that way all day with a high of 67 degrees. I did get a good night's sleep last evening and feel more alert this morning.  This is the morning for the housekeeper to be here.  My plan is to finish up our taxes and get them submitted today.  I just need to review them once again to be sure I haven't missed anything.  This afternoon and evening I will watch some more basketball.  Pat and Scott did get to Costco yesterday afternoon.  When they got home Scott put everything away and later had dinner with us.  We enjoyed the dinner that was brought over to us two evenings ago.  Yesterday morning the man of the couple who visited us Sunday came back with more food and he stayed and visited with me, which I really enjoyed, although I wear down pretty fast when talking.  Fortunately he did most of the talking.  Then last evening I had a call from another lady in our Sunday School who said she would be bringing us meals from the Wednesday night dinner on the 1st and 3rd of each month.  This is something they do for the shut ins (hard to believe I now fall into that category but guess this is now reality).

Carol, I hope Janet and Darrel are having a great time while they are away and that they stay well while gone.  Other that sneezing more I haven't been too impacted by our heavy pollen.  Of course I am seldom outside.  You could have worse duty that having to spend another month in Arizona although know you would like to get back to the Denver area to be with your family when they are all together.

Ellie, we always ate at the dinner dinner while I was growing up and had three large meals.  Pat and I have always had at least one meal a day at the dinner table except for the last few weeks.

Patricia, you are quite right about family traditions changing over the years.  I guess it is a part of adjusting to life as it is rather than as it once way.  That is not always for the better but just is.

Carol

Larry:  It is time for you and Pat to enjoy being on the side of loving and receiving.  You and Pat have been in the community long enough to meet new friends and I know you both contributed with your gifts.  Yes, it will be alright to change plans - remember the olds saying, "Man plans, God disposes".  There must be a reason for everything and I need to talk to myself about TRUST - all the answers are in the bible.

Today, we plan to meet a cousin half-way to her Arizona home.  She and hubby live in Minnesota - you should see all the license plates from the mid-west in the winters of Arizona.  We are meeting at Cracker Barrel which is almost half way to each of us.  I made a pot of Split-pea soup and will bring a quart along to give to her husband.  Don is feeling better today and for that I am grateful.

Ellie:  The special cheese is toasted under a little table-sized grill than carefully scraped from each little pan (watched closely) and the melted cheese is poured over little potatoes and other vegetables.  How many people are in your city?  Can you walk to most of the shops?  Enjoy your day!

Hi Everyone on another beautiful sunny day with a high temperature expected of 68 degrees.  Yesterday turned out to be a pretty busy day and Pat and I have decided that today is a take it easy day.  I did get my Income Taxes finished, filed and accepted by the IRS and the State.  It was a good thing I looked them over again as I found two major errors I had made.  As a result my large tax refund went way down but at least I didn't have to pay more taxes.  I did lay down for a couple of hours and then got up and as Pat went to Walmart I folded a basket of clothes and then worked on Pat's computer coping a lot of files from the one she used to use to the one she is using now and a few other things.  I plan on watching more basketball today just as I did yesterday afternoon and evening.

Carol, we have had four years to make new friends and as we always have we found those friends among our Church family.  It is pretty amazing when one realizes how much wisdom is included in the Bible.  I remember noting all the out of State cars during the visits I made to Apache Junction to visit my folks.  I expect many of them have or will soon leave to return to homes up North.  I hope you had a great visit with your cousin and sure glad Don was feeling better so maybe he could enjoy the visit more.

Carol

We met my cousin and her husband at Cracker Barrel that is between Phoenix and Tucson.  Miles of heavy traffic and they drive faster here than any place I know.  We took a slower way back and actually got to view the beautiful roadside flowers this time.  Flowers are earlier this year from all the early rain.  This smaller road goes to Apache Junction or the other way is Tucson.

News from this area is the massive migration that is overwhelming - people from many countries are being dropped.  What is happening and what is on the national news are two different stories.

Larry:  Does your neck ache from watching the bouncing basketball game?

Hi Everyone. It is another beautiful morning with an expected high of 77 degrees and the sun should shine most of the daylight hours.  I woke up tired this morning although I had a good nights sleep.  By the time I got my shower, washed out the hose to my CPAP machine and got dressed I could hardly hold my head up.  I asked Pat to put my breakfast tray together and bring it to my office this morning, something I very seldom do.  I appreciate your comments that I am probably feeling better although that isn't the fact.  My longer posts just mean that I got started writing and didn't want to leave anyone out of my comments.  Today is not one of those days so just going to check in.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.

Carol

Mornings are just coming around much too quickly.  :coffee:  My sewing machine is giving me grief and it is sitting there quietly waiting for me to work on trying to find the problem.

On the news last night, they had a video of a pretty good sized Bobcat strolling through a neighborhood.  Twice, I have spotted Bobcats here and one had the baby with her walking much too close to us.

Larry:  Good morning -

...thank you for asking, I shall pass it on...but not too great at the moment as he is back to struggling for breath again, and In my opinion back looking ill, the thinner shape of, and grey pale colour of his face has completely changed from the way I remember a rounded face glowing with health, skin colour, been like this for quite a while..I do worry over him
Unsure whether its his heart, his COPD or his anaemia coming back...

Yes make those memories, that's all we have left..

Hi Everyone. It is going to be a cloudy and cooler day today getting up only into the low 60s.  Yesterday afternoon Scott came over for a few minutes to fix my 50 foot oxygen hose along the walls and behind our easy chairs where it does not present a tripping hazard and I started using oxygen sitting in my easy chair during the afternoon and evening as well as in the afternoon while I am resting in bed and during the night.  Sorry to say that I am not getting any better but weaker each day it seems.  So once again I am just going to check in today.

Marilyn, I did prepare a posting here but apparently somewhere along the line it didn't get saved.

Carol

I am back - there were VA appointments for Don, visitors, and now I am preparing part of a meal for 7 of us - at another house and my job is to get the Swiss cheese called Raclette plus vegetables which I will cook here over there.  We toast the cheese from an electric apparatus & carefully watch it melt, then scrape the cheese over new red potatoes, asparagus, and green beans that I will pre-cook here.  Too Much Information.

Marilyn, you will have that wonderful Kona coffee and other great stuff.  I hope the weather is perfect.

Reporting that humming birds have returned and I don't have nectar out because bees clogged the hangers last year.  Quail are here all over the back yard and so quick to disappear. All are gifts from God.

Larry and Pat:  You are loved.  I am so glad your son is nearby and you have great friends at church looking out for you two.

Hi Everyone. We are going to have a beautiful sunny day.  Not peppy today so am just going to check in.  I have read everyone's postings and appreciate them.

Marilyn

Raining here today. Keith has an eye Dr appointment is just a bit. I know his eyes have changed a lot since he was last diagnosed with that Atrophy on the Visual Cortex. He doesn't think  so but I do. He has good days and  very forgetful days. It exacerbates in the afternoon. Some days are moments of forgetfulness etc. I think he is getting worse, but not so bad that I can't deal it it so far. Notice the key words here are SO FAR. Some days he is like a disobedient child. Like he is not even supposed to be pulling the rope on the lawnmower but insists he needs to mow the lawn. Dr says NO! I have hired landscapers to come clean up both the front and the ivy filled back. They should be doing the first visit either Friday or Monday depending  if the get another job finished on Thursday. Keith can't be trusted not to get out the mower and try, so the mower is going to be disables so he can't use it. I am removing the spark plug.

Larry:  Good to see your daily report. Are you having warmer weather?  There is another chance of snow at home (Colorado) and, of course, avalanche warnings.  Here, it is into the 70's daily.

We had a wonderful evening outdoors with two other couples and our friend (widowed now).  Most of my afternoon was spent just preparing for the meal and, now- today - I must get things ready for a cousin and wife visiting for three days.  We do go out for one dinner and they are easy to please.

Carol

Marilyn:  Good idea to take out the spark plug.  There are lots of places he can get into trouble - my friend's husband took the car and drove to a grocery store to buy her flowers and thankful he made it back to the garage safely.

I hope Janet checks in soon.

Hi Everyone. It is our second day of sunny weather and is to get into the low 70s this afternoon.  Scott and the girls were here last evening for supper and Pat had put together a meat loaf.  She has found this a pretty easy meal to make since she discovered putting  all of the ingredients into the mixer and letting it do the mixing work.  The past couple of days haven't been very good for me as have been so tired I haven't wanted to to anything but lay down or sit and do nothing in my easy chair.  I am not sure today is going to be any better as took my shower this morning and almost feel several times in the shower as my legs seemed too weak to hold me.  I think we are going to have to take down the towel rack in the Master bath and put another grab bar in its place as it isn't safe to grab the towel rack for support.  Enough complaining as I am grateful to still be here.  Scott is going to pick up a sub at Firehouse Subs and come out and share it with us at noon.  He was suppose to have today off but has been called in to work late this afternoon and evening and that is when he normally would come out.  He did bring out the ramp for the garage and put it up but decided it wasn't safe anymore so he folded it up and put it on the street and it has already been picked up by the city this morning.  Once again I am going to have to beg off from making individual comments this morning as just don't have the energy to do so.

Carol

Larry:  Have two grab bars installed plus you need a bench in the shower.  Do it today, please.  Have you thought about having a home health nurse for a few hours a week?  Our friend had a lady who knew exactly how to handle her husband in the shower and so many helpful things.  Just a few hours a week would ease your mind.

For the first time, there are little blue flowers showing in the back yard - next to a Palm tree.  Someone told me that the seeds could have been there for years but needed the extra rain from this Spring.

Cousin Dennis arrives today with wife.  We always have a great visit.  He stays in Yuma all winter now and has to drive there from north of Seattle.  So lucky we have time to visit.  He and his wife used to go into Mexico every winter when they retired (she is a nurse) but it is too dangerous for many volunteers had to drop working at an orphanage.

Hi Everyone.  Once again we are to have a very nice day getting up into the low 80's.  Our nights are still chilly but no frost in the forecast and hopefully that is over for this Spring.  Scott was here for about an hour yesterday and did bring out a Firehouse Sub, which served as my main meal for the day.  I really got nothing accomplished yesterday as just wasn't up to it.  It look likes today may be a replica of yesterday.  I did enjoy watching one of the basketball games last evening.

Carol, we do have a long grab bar in our shower and it has a bench but the shower is fairly long and I didn't find the bench to be very helpful other than when it kept me from falling yesterday.  The shower is a one piece fiberglass unit with one side glass.  I had sponge baths until I was 16 or so as our house had no bathroom until that time.  I made a decision yesterday that I will do this type of bathing from now on as yesterdays experience of almost falling in the shower even while holding on to the grab bar really frightened me. I will have to figure out how to get my hair washed but have a couple of ideas.  Fortunately I don't have a lot of hair on my head to wash so shouldn't be too much of a problem.  Fortunately my rollator will go into the bathroom and I can sit during most of the bath.  I hope you had a nice visit with your cousin Dennis and his wife yesterday. Pat checked out the towel rack yesterday and feels it is securely anchored in studs and we really don't need a grab bar there.

Rebot, as Jackie said I hope your need at home is not for something serious health wise for your husband or for you.  Good to see you post.

Jackie, I hope you adjust to your new glasses easily.  It seems that old style frames are coming back as I saw an ad yesterday for an eyeglass place and one of the frames they showed was something I remember from my youth.

Greetings Jackie  Home Life is usually busy for me.

Greetings Larry   We hope you are  feeling better, allowing you to enjoy your days and sleep well at night.

I think you know I try not to speak about health matters, regarding both of us at home.

Greetings Jackie  There is a chance if husbands or wives differ in saying grace, that it might not be said at the table.  I must say that on the occasion when we have attended family or friends, if Grace is said then we will take part.  In fact, I have been asked on several occasions to say Grace when visiting family and friends.

As I said in an earlier post, it must be up to the individual to make up their own mind and certainly not ask people to say Grace, if they choose not to.

Greetings Carol  Thank you for the added information on Raclette cheese.  I can walk to the shops, though on wet days nice in the car!

...I dont know much when it comes to picking glasses frames, the shapes, the colours that are suitable for me but, this time I went for comfort, even though I will go for the more expensive ones...

Our UK weather has also been pleasant, dry and some sun even though I dont venture out in too much of it...

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a partly or mostly cloudy day today with a high of around 79 degrees (not bad for the end of March. I had a great nights sleep last night and it was after 9 am before I got up this morning.  I did accomplish a little something this morning as was able to unload the top tray of the dishwasher.  A good friend from Church came over yesterday afternoon to visit us and brought us a large bag of food.  She brought about a gallon of beef vegetable soup, two dozen roast beef sliders and a container of lemon square.  Guess what we had for an early dinner last night and it was all very good.  Pat had a very busy day yesterday including doing laundry and make a large batch of oatmeal raisin cookies, which about did her in.  I hope she will take today easy as she about overdid yesterday.  I have nothing on my schedule for today.

Ellie, right now I am just happy to make it through each day and am very doubtful that I will ever really feel better, but I have been wrong before.  I usually do sleep well at night.

Jackie, comfort works for me and glad you got yourself comfortable glasses and what you wanted.  Glad you are having nice weather.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see you posting today.

Carol

The guest/ my desk/ my sewing machine/ room is ready as my cousin & wife left just now.  We have already changed & washed everything so it is ready for another cousin and her husband to visit for several days.  Thankfully, we have a few days rest.

Larry:  How thoughtful of your church friends are to help you with your meals.  A true Christian act of kindness.

You mentioned Lemon Square and I had baked a Lemon Pound  Cake  with Lemon icing.  Just enough frosting for a bit of sweet.  The temperature will hit 81 F today (here)

and it snowed yesterday south of Denver.
