DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

Devotional of Chris Saunders

Our Lord and Saviour said.." You must be born again..You MUST be born again..Unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
The Kingdom of God is here on Earth, the instant that you are born again the Sacrifice of our Lord becomes dynamic in your life, you are sanctified by the Holy Spirit, God the Father becomes your Father in Heaven.
Your old life dies, nailed to the cross with your Saviour,
Your new, Holy Life has begun ...walk in ..enjoy it...live a Life of Gratitude and Praise.
Let us examine ourselves each morning, are we Grateful, Thankful, Joyful, in spite of many pessures from the World around us.
The Victory is won..it was won long ago..let us enter in to His Mighty Sacrifice .

This is a short devotional this month.  However it is an important topic.  On June 30th our grand daughter passed away, the reasons are immaterial, except to say she is no longer with us.  It is such a comfort to know that she is waiting for us to join her in Heaven sitting at our Lords feet.  There is life after death, life in Heaven with Christ or life in eternal damnation.  It is up to us to choose where we will go.  That is the joy of free will.

Enjoy the music, I have it playing in the background, and find the words of these hymns such a blessing!

Carol

Judy:  Thank you for sending us an old and wonderful song.  It is a very nice choir.  We remember the loss of your granddaughter last year - Peace be with you and all family and friends.  I hope you feel better very soon.

Please say hello to Pat.

Janet:  When I think of Kansas and the wheat crops - nothing looks so serene and hard working as the fields.  Great people feeding this country!    Oh, I do the easiest cooking or baking and we usually go out for one meal especially if there isn't much notice.  I do feel weary and most of it is from talking so much.

Jackie:  Now I know that old fuel tanks are on the entertainment for children.  Good idea.

Our sweet elderly neighbor brought blueberries over for Don's breakfast.  She is a 90 plus year young dynamo.  Still out there working in her flowers, still driving and so bright in conversations. She drove to the supermarket this morning for the big monthly day of bargains, extra for seniors.

Larry:  How is Pat?

Janet

Judy, thanks for getting the new month posted.  I hadn't really thought about it being late, so no worries there!  Any news on Pat?  It's been a long time since we've been updated on her.  Thanks.

Carol, I doubt you talk enough to wear yourself out.
I think it's house cleaning and meal preparations that do it.  ;)

I spent an enjoyable day painting with friends, my usual happy Wednesday.  I did a card and most of another scene of an old barn against a sunset.

My back is hurting so I need to get in my recliner and stretch out.  We have church dinner tonight.

Boy!  It feels so nice outside now, temp is 57*, feels like summer after days and days of 6*, 7*, and so forth!  :)  8)

Hi Everyone on a beautiful sunny day with expected temps in the low 60's. Just checking in once again today as am very weary this morning even though I had a good night's sleep.  Scott was here last night for several hours and will be back this evening.

Judy, thanks for the new Devotional Thoughts and the hymn you shared.  My Pat seems to be doing OK and is taking good care of me.  I am so grateful that she is my wife.

I think its a bit of swings and roundabouts, Richard looks after me in a kindof strange way, but I will be the one looking after him ( no date set as yet ) when he has his open heart surgery once he is home...In life it has to be...

Good morning, Larry!  God sure knew what He was doing when he instituted the family, didn't He?  I'm glad you and Pat have each other, and same for Darrel and me!  I often feel bad for those left alone, as life is so much more difficult for them.

I had a much better night's sleep last night, and am so grateful.  This morning we are going to attend my son-in-law Jeff's aunt's funeral service.  I have known Velda for many years.  It reminds me of the old song "Going down the valley, going one by one...."  Each year there are so many more on the other side that we have known and loved here.

If you would like to see/hear Jeff's song at the Pancake Day Talent Show, it is now on my FB page!  :)

Time is fleeting--only nine days now until we leave on the Paris to Normandy trip!  Darrel got most of his packing done yesterday.  Janet got out her suitcase!   He always packs earlier than I do.  But I'll get there!

This is another nice day, though to be about 12 degrees cooler than yesterday.

Talk to you later!

Larry:  You have a wonderful and caring son.  I am sure Pat feels the same about having you all these years.

The one year devotions I have been reading is down to 20 more days. Time surely passes too quickly.  How nice to have a study written just for daily readings.

Jackie:  Is there any home care for Richard when he returns after surgery?  I hope you do have someone to care for him especially at first.

Janet:  Have a wonderful and safe trip.

Carol..
...I think the way this will be done is at some point I shall be called in with Richard and we will be given a talk of Richards, and my needs, before, during, and his after-care, of course I may be wrong as we have never been in this situation before. After all, it is he they are calling in for the opp, not me, so they have to allay his fears of how I am going to be looked after whilst he is under their care. I shall wait and see how this is going to pan out. Oh yes, I am assuming he would get NHS aftercare - home visit.
He is due two or three hospital procedures before this will go ahead, one is taking place on Monday, the doppler scan of neck blood vessels.

Hi Everyone. This is going to be a cloudy but warm 68 degrees with a small chance of later day rain.  This is the day for our housekeeper so we will have a nice clean house in a few hours.  Scott is going to go by Walmart later this morning and pick up Pat's online grocery order and also pick up some prescriptions for her.  He will then be here for a few minutes.  This was a morning for my shower and that has really used up a lot of today's limited energy.  Interesting postings since I posted yesterday but only going to check in again this morning.

Marilyn

Good Morning Larry, Jackie, Carol and Janet and Judy.  Sun is shining this morning.

Freckles and I will be going out for a visit at one of the facilities this morning, this afternoon some of the ldies from my church are meeting at someone's home for coffee, although I don't drink coffee in the afternoon, tea yes. This evening is the Friday night Mexican dinner with friends.

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a cloudy day but it is suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  I plan on a nice quiet day today and will watch a lot of basketball this afternoon and this evening.  Not feeling very peppy this morning and trying to get up the energy and appetite to eat my breakfast.  I may try to start filling out our income tax this morning as have the data all together.

Marilyn, it sounds like you had nice but busy day yesterday.  I hope you enjoyed every moment of it.

Janet

I am enjoying a slow morning today, does me good once in a while!  Later I will get busy packing!
I had a very nice chat with my sister Doris yesterday.
She is having ten days of radiation, then they will switch her back to the chemo, which is only one pill per week.  She can now get up on her walker and walk that way unassisted, and says she is being very careful not to fall again.  I told her about our upcoming trip, and she told me to go ahead and live my life; that she knows I'm praying for her and God hears my prayers whether I'm at home or in France.  She assured me she knows I love her, and not to even consider cancelling the trip because of her condition.  I feel very relieved, am glad I told her.

Larry, I hope some of your energy returns, I know you like being able to do a few things at least.  Bless you, my friend!
 <3
Marilyn, good to see a post from you yesterday.  I hope all continues to go well with you and yours.

Jackie, it sounds as if things are going a bit smoother in your life, that's good.  Stress is a rascal!

Carol, thank you for your well wishes on our trip. I pray all goes well with you and yours as you continue being "the hostess with the mostess!"  :)  ;)

I need to prepare some Keto stuff to eat this week, then I'm going to eat whatever I want!  No dieting stress while traveling! But I won't go crazy, either.

I guess I should go get dressed.  I've been lazy long enough for one day!

Thank you - anyone who set up our choices of size of print and even color.

I woke with a miserable needle-like pain on half of my head.  It has to be allergies because we are reading it is so prevalent this year in Arizona.  Ready to head north - but at least two more rounds of guests and they are four weeks apart.  Of course, it is still stormy and snowing at home so the drive would be poor.  Instead, we will stay here and I will find allergy pills at the drug store.

chicken/vegetable soup last night in the crock pot.  Not bad and it was just right as weather is windy and cold right now.  I fixed my sewing machine and it turns on now - it had a little glitch yesterday and I thought it was a goner.  Machines need more oil here too.

Janet:  Prayer for your sister Doris and for full recovery.  Safe travel.

Larry:  Prayer for strength - both you and Pat.

Back to my old sewing machine - all the fabric is cut and ready to make donation tissue holders for sale at church yard sale.

Hi Everyone on this first day of daylight savings time for this year.  Our high is suppose to get to 73 this afternoon and a pretty good chance of rain later in the day and evening. I just didn't feel like doing anything else.  I had spent the morning in my office and did get started on filling in the income tax forms but will take a day off of doing them today. I plan on watching some more basketball this afternoon as this is the last day of the regular season.  In a little bit I will listen to the recorded Church service from last week.  It is the next best thing to actually being there.

Janet, glad you were able to have a nice chat with your sister yesterday and to find her doing better.  Perhaps this removes one worry as you prepare for your trip. It would be a shame to diet while in France and miss out on some of that good food and pastry.

Scott made an unexpected but very welcome visit as I was writing this morning and now it is after moon so just going to say I am checking in for today.

Janet

Good morning Larry (and all others who come in today!)  I surmise that you're feeling a bit better, judging from the length of your post!  :) I hope you have a very enjoyable day!

I went back over the printouts from the fancy scale at the gym, and found that as far back as I had kept them, beginning over six years ago, my weight hasn't varied more than 6 pounds.  So I think the weight I'm at now is the weight my body is supposed to maintain.  I'm doing the keto thing mostly to see if it will do as promised and melt off the mid-section fat that bothers me. I do think it's helping, can see the difference in the fit of my clothes.  Anyway, will enjoy the good French foods without guilt!

Our pastor wasn't there today, don't know where he is. We have a wonderful Ministerial Alliance here, all the pastors in town work together in harmony, and it's such a sweet thing to see!  When our pastor is away, he calls another pastor in town and they fill the pulpit for him. We meet earlier for worship, so this enables others to preach for us and still be in their own pulpit at the regular time.  And it's nice to hear the other pastors sometimes!  Today we had the pastor from New Life Church, formerly called Mennonite Brethren. TMI? Sorry! :-[

I got my suitcase mostly packed yesterday.  Tomorrow I have an audiology app't. as I know I'm not hearing as well as I should, and hope my hearing aids can be turned up some more.  There is still 'room' on them to do that. I've noticed a tooth hurting, so may have to try to get in to see my dentist, too, before we leave next Sunday. Whew!  Thing are piling up!!

I don't enjoy 'springing forward" but 'falling back' is just fine!  We did make it to church on time, though! :)

I wish you all a blessed Sunday!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Carol

There is no "Spring Forward" in Arizona.  I wish we could all change back to normal time - it is very confusing when making travel and other plans and calling family.

I just downloaded an audio book from the library. It is nice to have a story going when I am sewing.

Janet:  Good for you on keeping your weight normal.  Everyone in Europe walks a lot more than Americans - it sounds like a wonderful getaway for the two of you.  Here, the meals are planned on more and more vegetables and there are really fresh veggies in this area all year long.  I make one veggie soup every week - the latest one has some chicken in it.  It is really nice to listen to a different pastor once in a while and your church is to be commended for keeping the sermons- pastors need breaks too.

Our youngest son bought a 1966 Chevy Nova - he wants to work on it.  It sure looks huge on the picture, all the cars now are more compact except for the SUV's.

Hi Everyone.  I am getting a late start this morning as this was the morning for my shower.  That always wears me out.  It looks like we will be getting up to 72 degrees this afternoon and we are in for another cloudy day with the potential of some rain from time to time.  The housekeeper is come back this morning for a couple of hours and help Pat with her sewing room.  She is trying to arrange things to make getting her fabric more accessible.  I have no plans for today.

Carol, we also have vegetable, or vegetable beef or vegetable chicken pretty often.

Janet, I agree it is nice to hear sermons by different minsters.  We have a wonderful Christian radio station available here and they have many of the well known ministers and usually they are segments of sermons that have been preached.  They also have beautiful Christian music.  I hope you get your hearing aids turned up and also that you will get to the dentist.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone    Been out of action for eight days. And offline during that time as well.  Only able as yet to read the posts.

Janet

Ellie, were you sick?  I assume that's what you meant.  If so, glad you're feeling better now.

Carol, I wish Kansas didn't "spring forward."  It just about does me in for about two weeks, I greatly dislike it.  On TV they are saying people want to stay on DST year round.  Why not on "NORMAL" time?  But either way would be better than the disruption of the change.

We had a good day trip to Liberal and Hooker today.
Got my hearing aids cleaned (he said the microphones were nearly plugged) and turned up, so I am hearing better.  How I wish someone could turn up my "seeing. "Then we drove on to Hooker to Awesome Nails where I got a manicure and pedicure (Months overdue on that!) and Darrel also had a manicure. We also stopped by to see Diane for a while at her store as we came home.  And my sister Doris called me while I was there, so Diane got to speak to her, too!  She says she is feeling a bit stronger and her husband says she looks better.  So the prayers are being answered, Praise God!

I will call the dentist first thing tomorrow and see if he can take a look at the tooth that's causing me pain.

I'm sleepy, so I'm going to bed!     :sleepy:

Good evening everyone.  For those of you who are not on FB I will give you an update. Pat is still iin the rehab facility and will be for another couple of weeks.  We had a lovely visit, she was suitably surprised to see us.  She still has problems with one leg/hip. Swelling and pain are a real problem for her. Prayer for strength and healing are requested.

I was chatting with Ruth Anne on Sunday evening. We had a lovely chat. She has requested prayer from the folks here.  Her computer is down so she has difficulty getting on to CP.  When she is back I am sure she will update all of us!

I had a doctor's appointment today.  He is a young man, 3 years as a doctor, and had the tendency to hear a few words and add his own interpretation.  Last visit I told him I needed him to really "Hear me", he did then and did as well today.  I am thinking that was a learning curve.

Good night all have a great day tomorrow.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We expect to have a beautiful day today with sun and partial cloudiness and a high of around 63.  While I felt fairly good yesterday morning by afternoon I wasn't feeling good at all.  I am hoping for a better day today. Pat has an appointment with the lung doctor around 11 this morning.  I have to refill my medicine boxes this morning for the next two weeks and then want to work some more on the income taxes.  I probably won't get them finished today but hope to make a big dent in them.

Ellie, good to see you posting again and hope things have settled down for you.

Janet, glad you and Darrel were able to get your hearing aids readjusted.  It sounds like you had an enjoyable day yesterday.  Glad you were able to talk again with your sister and find her beginning to do better.

Judy, thanks for the update on Pat but sorry to read she isn't able to overcome the pain in her hip.  I have missed Ruth Ann's postings but glad to hear it is computer rather than health related that has kept her away for awhile.  These young doctors have to learn how to work with the patient and it isn't in the medical books.

Marilyn

Judy thank you for posting about Pat, Last evening  the Lord put her in my thoughts, and I thought about trying to call her at home to pray for her. Prayed anyway I think I don't have her number anymore.

I am going to work at the Hospice office this morning as soon as the caregiver gets here. She only comes once a week now to mostly clean for me, I just can't do the vacuuming anymore with my back the way it is.

A friend that Freckles and I visit a couple times a month in the nursing home, passed away Sunday night. So sad, he was close when I saw him the 2nd. and was going to see him again this Saturday when I take Freckles there to visit the patients.

First and foremost - Judy:  Thank you for the update on Pat.  So sorry that she has to endure all this pain.  Praying for freedom from pain and healing.

RUTH ANN:  I do hope you know we have not forgotten you and pray for good health and now you computer issues.

Ellie - Is that short for Eleanor?  It sounds friendly.

Janet:  That was good news on your sister's health.

Today is National Nap Day - our daughter sent an email to let us know it is healthy to nap.  :)

Greetings Everyone  A brief note today from me.  I will catch up all posts here sent to me as soon as I can.

Janet

It's nice to be hearing better today!  I wish Darrel was--but he has "selective hearing."  I'm sure you know how that works!  ;) He gets
his hearing aids from the VA, so didn't get his adjusted yesterday, though he did stop by to talk to them about getting another pair of shoes (special for diabetics.)

I'm really feeling draggy today, not much sleep last night at all.  Hope to sleep much better tonight. I did go to town and get a few things into the mail that I needed to do.  Our big Shopko store is going out of business, so I went there and found some of the Preservision Areds vitamins that I take for the Macular Degeneration, and saved $10.50 on each of the two bottles I bought.  Also got Vitamin D3 and Vitamin C.

I did get in to see the dentist tomorrow morning, hope they can fix the tooth so it won't give me trouble on the trip; then got each of us a chiropractic appointment for Friday.  Busy week!  We will leave before noon on Sunday, and I'm about to check and see what kind of plane we are booked on (been listening to the news!)

Gotta go see if they have a seat booked for us out of Dallas.  Last time I checked it still said TBD.  :-\

Carol and Marilyn, good to see your posts today!

Hi Everyone.  While we have some sunshine this morning overall it is suppose to be a cloudy day with no rain.  Yesterday was such a nice day that after Pat got home from her doctor's appointment she suggested we go over to Dairy Queen.  I said that sounded good as hadn't been out of the house for several days.  I had a small hamburger and fries, although only ate two of the fries.  I did finish the hamburger and had ordered two of the tiny Blizzards and ate a few bites of one of them and brought them home for the freezer.  I did enjoy the outing, the worst part getting the rollator in and out of the car.  I was pretty exhausted the rest of the day but it sure did my spirits good to get out.  Yesterday morning I did pretty well complete my income tax returns.  I will wait a few days and then review them again and e-file them. I was a bit shocked at the size of the refund we will get on both the Federal and State returns.  Today should be pretty quiet until evening when Scott, Jennifer and Elizabeth will be coming out to have supper with us.  The girls haven't been here since Christmas.  Pat has a new Instant Pot recipe for chicken that sounds good and we plan on asking Scott to pick up some KFC cold slaw to go with it.

Marilyn, it sounds like things are improving daily for you all if you are down to having the caregiver just being there for one day.

Carol, I thought everyday was National Nap Day, it is at our household.  ;D

Ellie, I hope you all are having a very pleasant day.

Janet, it sounds like you need to rest up for your trip.  Glad you are hearing better.  What airline are you using to fly to France?  Is this a tour with other people?  Hope the chiropractor appointments help both of you be in top shape for your trip.

Jackie, it seems that birthdays in a family often come in bunches.  Both my sister and I were born in February three years apart.

Carol

One son called and told us that electricity is off and on in the Denver area.  Had his cell phone charged - but no heat.  Apparently it is high winds and blinding snow.  I hope the marijuana dopes stay off the roads - now that it is legal to ruin other people lives ---am so disgusted that the marijuana vote passed.

Larry:  How nice it will be for you to visit with family.

Marilyn:  Having help for at least one day - I hope you can use that time for something enjoyable.

Janet:  Have a wonderful and safe trip.

Carol, I thought everyday was National Nap Day, it is at our household.  ;D  Larry:  So right on daily naps - it refreshes the brain.  I wake at 5:30 AM and wish I could stay in bed and sleep but have not stopped that habit.

Janet

Larry and Jackie, it looks as if we have the ol' homestead all to ourselves today! But it's more fun when a lot of others come join us, right?

I did go to the dentist this morning, he found nothing wrong with the tooth, but said it appeared to have a high spot on the filling and he though I may have been grinding my teeth against it.  So he polished it down smooth, and also took care of an annoying problem on a lower tooth.  He gave me a prescription for amoxicillin in case I get any infection (not expected, but just in case) which I will pick up in the morning.  Then I went and had a really good day painting!  :)

I thought our chiropractic appt's were for Friday, but they are in the morning.  In the evening there is a big college choir coming to perform at the Episcopal church which I want to attend. The Vicar there is my painting friend who helped edit my book and also wrote an endorsement for it.

I found our seats and we have a window and middle seat. :(  We requested at least one aisle seat, but maybe there will be some better options when the time comes.  If not, we will make it work.  It's a nine and a half hour flight, on American Airlines.

Carol, I see you were here!  Isn't it amazing how we depend on things like electricity and cell phones?  We had terrible winds here today, too.  Sprinkled off and on all day--but Denver had an almost white-out blizzard, so there is always something to thank the Lord for!  I had to fill out new paperwork at the dentist's as I had changed dentists a few years ago, and as I was doing the medical history I remarked to the receptionist that there were so many things I do not have, I was feeling really thankful!  Was also thankful the dentist welcomed me back with good humor and kindness!

Every day is napping day at our house, too!  ;)

Will try to post photos often on FB while we are away!
Our Trip Leader called me today, and he described the weather in France--sounded just like ours here in
SW Kansas!

Blessings to each of you!

Hi Everyone.  We have another beautiful day ahead.  I am just going to check in this morning as am really tired.  I didn't get to sleep until after 3 am.  I am having problems with my iPhone and while I found the instructions how to fix it when I went through the process it comes up with an error code.  Scott will be here in a little bit and am hopeful he can fix the problem.

Marilyn

I had used the quick reply and lost my post. So here goes again. I will be picking up our taxes today as the accountant called yesterday to say they are ready. I also need to go to Safeway to pick up our prescriptions.

The Caregiver class yesterday was on Identifying stress and what to do about it.  each  of us  at the end of class  has to write out an action plan for the next week. Mine was to find a quiet place to  sit for a while and read the next chapter and to clean out one drawer of my dresser as well.  Not sure I will be able to do those two things. But I am going to try.

Another thing I am going to do today is to book our flights to Kauai and make sure Gilbert has asked for the time off so I can book his flight out of San Francisco.

I think I have covered all bases now, and am ready to finish packing.  We will leave Sunday morning--that's if we don't blow away before then!  This wind is horrible! It's blowing semi trucks over, and wreaking all kinds of havoc!  One can barely stand or walk outside.  They predict it will die down by 4 this afternoon, and I surely hope that's so!

Larry, I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping, too.  I lie awake so long, then get up and read for an hour or two and go back and try again, usually with better luck.  I fall asleep pretty quickly when I go to bed, sleep for an hour or more, then am wide awake. Been trying the Chammomile tea, and it seems to help.

Marilyn, is Keith going to Hawaii with you?  If not, who will take care of him while you're away?  Have a wonderful and restful time, you deserve it!

I want to attend the Lenten luncheon today, I forgot about it last week.

We both got chiropractic treatments today!  All tuned up and ready to go!

Greetings Carol  This post of yours I am replying to is from late February, have I been offline that long!   The London School of Economics [LSE] in Houghton Street I passed many times on my way to work.   I loved the theatres in London and the people.  It is a vibrant place to be and from the smoggy days up to the 1960's, it is now a clean and well looked after place to live.   And Ramsey where we live is splendid.

Janet yes Keith is going  to Kauai with me and I think Gilbert (if he can get the time off)and Savannah are going as well. The 1 bdr condo  is for 4 people. I always get that because I don't like to sleep on the Murphy bed.

Keith is doing quite well except that he can't cook for himself, if he were to stay home I would have to get respite care for him.

Ellie (Rebot) you have the Queen's name.  How nice, I always liked the name Elizabeth. We have fond memories of times spent in Great Britain.  Oxford was just super
and we enjoyed walking through the back alleys to catch glimpses of the gardens.  So very special.

We did talk with all four children yesterday while the super storm was hitting the Colorado area.  One boy was trapped in Detroit.  Daughter was home, the wind was terrible.  One boy was in Montana and it was not as bad in that area.  Other son, who lives close to our house, said snow was sticking to windows and all four sides of the house.  Every road was closed and he was fortunately home - many people trapped in their cars.  Electricity was off and on - we usually do not have problems because all our wires are under ground.  It was a day and a half storm.

Marilyn:  I love Kona coffee and all the fresh fruit you will have too.

Greetings Carol   The Queen Mothers name was Elizabeth as well.  Oxford is a splendid place to visit.   But so is the Isle of Man.

Hi Everyone on a cloudy South Carolina morning.  Once again we are to get to around 75 degrees and then quite possibly have rain this afternoon. Scott contacted Apple Chat Support yesterday and after some work was able to restore my disabled phone and then it restored my phone exactly as it was in terms of apps and the other features.  I was greatly relieved.  This time we didn't set up a password to get into the phone which makes it much easier for me to use and eliminates the possibility that I will forget the password again. I have been watching a lot of basketball this week and today will be no exception.  I have seen some great games, often decided by one point at the very end.

Marilyn, it sounds like things are going great for you and Keith after the bumpy road you both had for a few weeks.  Glad you are going to be able to take a trip to Hawaii.  Have you ever been there?

Janet, I am sure you are down to counting the hours before your trip begins now.  That wind sounds terrible and the news reports from the Midwest sure looked bad in terms of snow and wind and the many traffic accidents. After a couple of hours or more of not being able to go to sleep the getting up for an hour or so usually works for me. I try not to worry but must admit a couple of nights ago my phone situation weighed heavy on my mind and I think that was the culprit.  I don't know whether it is just a myth but I have become a fast believer in Chamomile tea to aid in getting to sleep or going back to sleep.  Our Church is participating with other Churches here in North Augusta in holding Lenten Services.

Rebot, it sounds like you really enjoyed living in London.  I know where you now live much be a great place to live. Sure nice to read you are feeling better.  Unfortunately my longer postings does not mean I am feeling better because overall I am not. It is just that on some days, like today, I feel more like posting while other days I am just going to check in.  A lot of this is due to my state of mind at the time and not my physical condition.  I am trying to adjust to a new way of living that is dependent so much on others helping me and that isn't really very easy after a long life but now really have no choice.

Jackie, good morning and I must say I also like the name Elizabeth as well as your name.  I have a cousin with the same name and we have always called her Jackie.

Janet

Ellie, I think there are more derivatives from the names Elizabeth and Margaret than any other names I know!  I like Ellie better than Liz, for a shortened version.  :)   I haven't spent any time in Great Britain, only have been to the airport, not a good example of the country.

Marilyn, glad Keith can go with you, hope the others can as well.  How long will you be there? I've never been to that island, only to the big island.  Hawaii is beautiful!

Carol, good to know all your children are safe.  Better to be hunkered down at home than out on the road somewhere in a blizzard or the awful winds we've been having over such a wide area, for sure!  It even blew a train off a trestle in New Mexico!  That's a powerful blast of wind!! :o

Larry hasn't checked in yet today.  I pray all is well with him!

I have a haircut at 10, so I must be going!

Oh, good!  I see Larry posted while I was typing.

Greetings Jackie  Hubbys middle name is Charles, another nice name.

Rebot

Greetings Janet  Yes lots of ways Elizabeth can be shortened.  Her Majesty The Queen, was called by her close family Lilibet.

We had to fly into America to JFK Airport, not a very good experience for him going through security at the airport.  But it did not make us think it was a poor example of the country.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  London was where I was born and to me it is a splendid city.  And my second choice of city has to be Paris, I have visited there many times.  The Isle of Man is the opposite of London, small and very quiet.  Not a lot of traffic as no motorways and a lot of history which I am trying to learn about.

Take your time whatever you do during the day.  And just do what you can with the energy you have.  That is the advice I gave to senior citizens who had appointments with me when I was working.  Hubby depends on me and he accepted that his lifestyle changed long before I met him. It was me who found it difficult to adapt, but only for a short time.

I was telling hubby about your IPhone and he said if you have an IPhone that is a newer model than a IPhone 5S, you can use touch ID to enter the phone.  Though you need the password for the initial entry.   Store the password on your iPad, laptop or whatever you use, easier to remember it then storing that way, should be a safe place to keep it.

Janet: we will be there from June 1-8, getting the red eye back home the night of the 8th. I hope I can take the minimum amount of clothing etc and still have enough. I burn easily so  lots of sunscreen is a real necessity. I've even thought about getting a spray tan before we go.

Greetings   Not sure why my text font increased for part of an earlier post of mine.  Will have to check it before I leave the computer.

Janet

Ellie, you got louder until you were shouting!   ;)  Making your points!  I wonder what would cause that?  I did not mean in any way, that the London Airport was an example of London, only that no airport gives a true picture of the city or country they are in.  And you're right; the books I read were about London at least 100 years ago.  I would love to visit the Isle of Man.

Marilyn, I will be home a long time before you leave!
I thought maybe you were going right away!  How long is that flight now?  When Beth, Kerri and I went, many years ago, it was 8 hours from LA.

I've been trying to figure out what's causing my back and shoulders to ache.  Sure hope I don't have this problem while we're away!  I finally gave up and took a couple Tylenol, now I will rest a while and see if that helps.

See you later!

Hi Everyone.  It is suppose to be a cloudy day and is starting out that way with us getting into the low 60's this afternoon.  We are not suppose to get any rain.  About 4 pm yesterday we drove down to Pizza Hut and I am paying the price to getting out today as very tired.  As a result will just check in for today.

Janet, hope you and Darrel have a wonderful trip.

Rebot

Greetings Janet  The error on yesterday's message, is because of the system we have on our desktop computer. My hubby along with other conditions has no flexion movement in any of his fingers and cannot do most daily activities, that most people do without any problems every day.

And though keyboard use on a computer is not a daily occurrence, it is something he has been unable to do for about fifteen years or more.  Long before we met and married, he enrolled on a course in the United Kingdom to use voice activated software, known as VR.  This is not to be confused with basic online computer software to talk in some text, as that basic system does not meet his and other user's needs.

What hubby trained on is Dragon Naturally Speaking, this is specialised voice recognition software.  We have the professional version, expensive at £260 - $340, yes just for a disc.  The system let hubby put in useful phrases for letter writing, everything from good morning, which you say GM and it types good morning; to a letter ending when you say YS and it types yours sincerely.

It lets us choose the font and size, I say CN and 12 and I get courier new and 12 point font. Except the system developed a problem yesterday and posted part of the text in 24 point.  But it has been corrected and should type in 12 point as usual.  We hope😊

This desktop computer with Dragon Naturally Speaking is set up for hubby, though he hardly ever uses it, because the one piece of computer hardware you need to use with voice recognition is a mouse and his finger condition means he finds it difficult to do.

The voice recognition software set up for hubby by him, allows for the nuances of his accent.  He speaks in English, but the Manx people have expressions and meanings different to say the English language.  And for me to train the VR system to my accent and how I express myself is beyond my computer knowledge.  It is easier for me to use the stored phraseology in the VR system hubby trained it to do.

Janet you would love the Isle of Man.

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see your message today.

Good morning!  We are trying to think of every possible last-minute thing that needs our attention, so we won't have much to think about in the morning except--leaving!!  Thanks to all of you for your good wishes on our trip!

Ellie, I really didn't need an explanation, but thank you for that, it was interesting.  I'm so NON-techy that I have trouble doing even simple things on computer at times.

Larry, please take it easy and I'll continue praying for you each day!

I'm washing a few items, the pants I want to wear on the plane, etc.  Shouldn't be leaving any dirty clothes except what we're wearing today.  Always bring home plenty of laundry!

Our temp is supposed to reach 59* today!  That will be welcome!

I had a voice message from our Ruth Ann; called back and left her one.  So we're playing telephone tag!

Nothing much to say today, just wanted to greet you all and wish you a blessed day!

Greetings Everyone  Please will you keep in your thoughts the people who lost their lives in New Zealand yesterday. And most of them at prayer.

Also, the families and friends who lost their loved ones.

Janet

Good morning, Friends!  The day has arrived!  We will be leaving home to drive to Garden City airport in about three hours now!  Please pray for health and safety for us if you think about us these next 17 days.  Thank you!

I wasn't aware until a day or two ago about the terrible flooding in our neighboring state of Nebraska!  Almost half the state is under water, with such great losses of property and livestock--nothing on the news until last evening!  (My niece had posted a prayer request on FB earlier.)  So many desperate needs in the world, but God is aware of all and He is in control!  Blessed  be the Name of the Lord!

I had a very nice phone visit with our sweet Ruth Ann last evening.  She requests our prayers for physical healing and that her upcoming move to be near her daughter goes well.  She will be on the ground floor and have NO stairs!  She's so excited!  And so thankful that the nodules in her lung that were thought to be cancer have DISAPPEARED!!  Praise the Name of God!!  She is having problems with her computer and cannot get in here to post very often, so asked me to give you this news.

I still need to shower and get ready, then I can pack my makeup and other last minute items.  Looking forward to a wonderful, relaxing, rejuvenating trip, and thank you all for your good wishes and your prayers!!  I love you all!

Hi Everyone.  The day is starting out a bit cloudy but we are suppose to have partly cloudy a part of the day with a high of 65.  Yesterday turned out to be a day of great weariness for me and am beginning to wonder it if it worth the price to get out of the house as the last two times the following day I am exhausted.  I seem to be feeling better this morning although won't win any races and didn't want to get up this morning.  I will listen to our Church service from last week in a little bit.  I did watch a lot of basketball yesterday with some really good games.  There are two or three tournaments that will finish up this afternoon and then this evening they will announce the brackets for the bit NCAA tournament, which all of the vie for all year.

Rebot, it sounds like the special software not only has to be trained but the user as well with the abbreviations.  My good friend, with Parkinson's Disease uses the less sophisticated version as his hands shake so much it makes typing difficult.   They have some wonderful software and hardware for for people with physical impairments.  I am fortunate to have very good dexterity with my hands and don't even have any arthritis in them as many people my age do. Does the software do a good job with the Manx language?  That was a terrible tragedy in New Zealand yesterday with the lives of many people changed forever.

Janet, I doubt you will see this until you return from your trip but if you do just want to again say I hope you will have (or have had) a delightful and restful long trip.  I will miss your daily postings.  Glad you were able to talk with Ruth Ann and so happy for Ruth Ann being able to relocate near her daughter and certainly good news on her health situation.

Hi Marilyn.  I hope you and all who look in here today will have a good day.

JudyB

Heather was having a hard time this past week with remembering the loss of her daughter.  I texted her the words of this hymn and before she got it she went to clean a room and started humming it.  Then she got my message.... It is interesting when you have a message so quickly confirmed by God.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
(Click to hear music)

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus."
Hebrews 12:2

Words & Music: Helen H. Lemmel, 1922

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain

His Word shall not fail you He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Refrain

Hi Everyone on a beautiful sunny day and we are to get up into the mid-60's this afternoon.  Yesterday was opposite of how I felt on Saturday and was able to enjoy the day by not being so tired.  Our afternoon was topped off by the visit of a couple from our Sunday School Class.  They are really pleasant people and we had a nice visit.  I did get a few things done yesterday.  My goal for today is to work on getting Pat's computer set up the way she had her other one and get some of the games she liked and played a lot on the computer as well.  There are no basketball games on TV today so will get to spend more time listening to my audiobook as am coming down to the end of it.

Judy,  you and Heather must have tuned to the same wave length yesterday since you both thought of that hymn.  It takes time to get over the loss of a child or grandchild.

Rebot, one would think the safest place to be would be in a House of Worship.  All last year and again this year we have a North Augusta off-duty policeman at our Church services on Sunday Morning and he parks his police car prominently where it is seen when you drive into the main parking lot.

Jackie, I would say Richard's family were too close for comfort to that shooting event in Christchurch. Nice banner that you shared.

Rebot

Greetings Larry   Splendid,  you posted one of your longer messages.  Do you have more energy today?
The idea of parking a police car to be seen, is a  very sensible idea.

Hubby and I visited New Zealand about five years ago and it is a quiet and the people are  very welcoming of visitors.  Though it is on the other side of the world, we felt at home there on the short visit we have.

Carol

Judy:  Thank you for posting the perfect song - it is just the message I need.

Jackie:  Thanks for the artistic work you do and taking time to send us your "cards".

How nice it is to hear from Janet - regarding the news that Ruth Ann is moving closer to her daughter. Have a safe and wonderful site-seeing trip!

Winter is over and all of a sudden, the temperatures are into the 80's F.  Almost shocking - this winter has been rain and cold in Tucson.  Two more of my cousins are scheduled to visit and that should be about the last visitors.  We want to take a drive to see a dear friend who is recuperating from an operation.

I made a crock pot of Butternut Squash soup yesterday and used cloves and pumpkin pie spices.  My soups are either a hit or miss and this one was OK plus.

A milestone - I just finished a year long bible study and  now will look for another one or something similar.

Hi Everyone. We have another beautiful day ahead.  It is to be partly cloudy this morning and then clear this afternoon getting into the high 50's.  I have a few things I want to accomplish this morning involving our computers and then will take it easy the rest of the day. Yesterday morning was pretty good for me for awhile and then nothing I tried seemed to work and I got pretty frustrated.  I was very exhausted the rest of the day and evening but had a good nights sleep and ready to try again, hopefully with better results.  I do have to refill my medicine boxes for two weeks this morning, a job I really don't like doing but must be done.

Rebot, it sounds like you had a delightful trip to New Zealand and glad you had that opportunity.

Carol, Ruth Ann sent me a text and I responded to her and got a nice response back.  She hopes to move by the end of the month.  She is moving into a regular small apartment in an older building but this is not an assisted living facility just a regular apartment on the first floor level so she won't have to deal with steps or elevators.  I can tell you are looking forward to the additional visitors but also to have that all behind you for another year and then getting back to Denver for the summer.  Hopefully you will find nicer weather than they have been having recently when you get back.

Jackie, you sound like my wife in experimenting with recipes.

Greetings Everyone  I like ny soups, home made or soup in a tin.  Hubbys favourite is Manx Broth.

Carol

I have to ask:  what is a Manx broth?

Growing up - mom had a stove with a built-in deep well or crock pot if you may.  We always had oatmeal - almost every breakfast especially during the work/school week.  I used to think we were such a backward Scandinavian family since other had eggs and meat for breakfast.  Now I know it was a stable meal - my children had a lot of oatmeal too.  We also had cooked apples or pears plus berries for most meals.

I am purging the fabric stash and dividing what to bring home and what should stay here.  All of the baby/children fabric has been donated to a group here making layettes for babies or little quilts for those older.  There is much too much fabric for me to keep.

Larry:  Glad you had a good night's sleep.  Working on the computer isn't as easy as it was years ago.  Hooray, you had a message back from Ruth Ann.  Great news that she doesn't have to use stairs.  We have stairs at home & my sewing is all downstairs but I hang on to the banister with one hand and never carry anything big downstairs.  I have been known to throw soft big things (quilt) down the stairs just to keep from tripping.  Does Ruth Ann check on us?  We miss her.

Larry:  All the children are meeting and having a meal at our home - one son will be in town for a medical appointment and they wanted to gather for a meal.

Janet:  How is your trip?

Rebot

Greetings Carol  After chatting with hubby, he tells me this is an old Manx recipe for Manx Broth.

Manx Broth Recipe

3 quarts water.
Scrag end of mutton.
A piece of beef
1 breakfastcupful pearl barley.
1 carrot, coarsely grated.
1 slice of turnip.
1 leek.
Thyme, celery, chopped parsley.
Pepper and salt.

You boil the water, add all the ingredients except the parsley, and simmer gently for 2 hours. Ten minutes before serving, take out the meat, cut it into small pieces, return it to the pan, add also the parsley, re-boil and serve very hot.

Hubby said that in the United Kingdom they call a Swede a Turnip.  But it is a turnip you need for this recipe.

Hi Everyone on this first day of Spring. It is starting out clear skies but will only get into the low 60's today.  I took my shower this morning and then laid down and read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.  I just don't have the energy left this morning to offer individual comments so will said say good morning as I check in. I have decided my new occupation is "professional rester" as that seems about all I do anymore.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Take it easy.  Now there is a phrase I like 'Professional rester'.  Can we join the professional resters club please!

Carol

Love the title of "Professional Rester".  It makes me want to nod off.

Ellie:  Hello and thank you for your special soup recipe.  I printed the recipe and will find some way to try it some day.  I will just guess at what a scag amount can be.  I do know that mutton was used very common in my gradparent's day - now they just see lamb chops at the shops.

Our granddaughter had a nice interview yesterday - they will let her know in a few days.  I do not like the location as it is downtown big city and that is a marijuana and other drugs jungle. She graduates from the university in days and has opted to not rent a cap and gown - instead will take a trip with a few friends.

Don't forget to look for the full moon tonight.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  The best way I can describe a scrag end of mutton, is it is one of the cheaper cuts of lamb from the neck.   Have a look on Google and it will show what a scrag end of mutton looks like.

Keeping on our Christian theme, all this talk about foods and stews got me asking...How many of us still say a prayer at the table before we eat our food, has this gone out of fashion in today's society? and if so, is it done within our eating group, or singularly? Baring in mind not everyone sits at the table nowadays to even eat, some sit in an armchair with a tray, some eat on the go...

Here is one I was brought up to hear-say at the table as a child, we was taught this at school.

" Thank you for the world so sweet, Thank you for the food we eat, Thank you for the birds that sing, Thank you God for everything, Amen.."

Another one I can add, which maybe more appropriate now to us, is..

" We thank you, Lord, for all you give; The food we eat, The lives we live. And to our loved ones far away, Please send your blessings, Lord, we pray. And help us all to live our days, with thankful Hearts and loving ways. Amen.."

I have to hold my hand that I have slacked on this, unless it has been with a church group meal..

Hi Everyone. We are to have a partially or mostly cloudy day today with it getting up to 65 degrees.  I think we may have had a brief shower this morning that helped clear the air of some of the heaven pollens in this area. I didn't get to sleep until about 6 am this morning but was able to get about 3 hours sleep.  So I am draggy today and will practice my new profession watching of alot of the NCAA Basketball Tournament games that start at noon and will be on all day and evening.  It is starting today with 64 teams and they are televising the games on multiple channels.  Half of the teams will play today and Saturday if they win and the other half on Friday and Sunday.  Scott and the girls were out for dinner last night.  We had Scott pick up food from KFC plus Pat fixed a big dish of baked beans.  After dinner the four of them played a couple of games of Farkle.   Pat and Scott are planning a trip to Costco this afternoon as Pat is out of coffee and that is a big motivator for her.  I don't think she has too many items on her list so it should be a relatively quick shopping trip.  She doesn't have an order for Walmart this week.  Of of the ladies from Sunday School brought over an Italian dinner with salad and dessert that we will enjoy tonight and Pat won't have to cook, which she appreciates.  Different ladies have brought in several meals these last three months.

Jackie, that was a very nice postings about saying Grace.  Pat and I eat a lot of our meals on trays and I must admit that we do not usually say Grace at these meals.

Carol

Thinking of Janet and her trip.

Rebot - Ellie:  Thank you for describing the meat and size.  Right now, I am planning a dinner for 7 and using Raclette special cheese and an electric item which melts the cheese to pour over vegetables.  It is a Swiss meal - no, I am not Swiss.  Fun to do and guests seem to like it - it is very relaxing.

Jackie:  Praying at meals yes we do give thanks.  I remember the "sweet" one - thanks for your input.

Larry:  I like your new job.  Fantastic that your friends will gift you with a meal.  It is so helpful.  Pollen is so bad in Arizona right now.  I have short darts of pain even though taking an allergy pill.

We did see the "new moon" last night finally after the dark clouds drifted away.  I just made myself sit here and sent a common letter to three friends in Colorado.  We have to wait an extra month here in Arizona because a cousin from Seattle wants to drive here for a visit.  It is alright, but I will miss seeing our children gather at home in April.

Rebot

Greetings Jackie  A splendid post about saying grace.  Many of the standards we practiced in years gone by have sadly disappeared from every day life.  I have come to the conclusion that saying grace is up to the each individual within the family group.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  I have not long looked at the Raclette dish.   I think I will try it sometime, but it will be only me who eats it, as hubby likes plain cooking.

Rebot

Greetings Larry   I always try to eat at the dinner table, not into using a tray on my lap.

Yes sadly, family traditions can, and do get broken, as the years move along..
It could be through marriage, where the other person wasn't brought up to say grace...
As I mentioned we were made to say it through our school years..." For what we are about to receive may the Lord make us truly grateful - thankful.." all it took was a couple of seconds of our time, before we tucked into our food..

Hi Everyone. The morning starts out with a nice clear sky and it is suppose to stay that way all day with a high of 67 degrees. I did get a good night's sleep last evening and feel more alert this morning.  This is the morning for the housekeeper to be here.  My plan is to finish up our taxes and get them submitted today.  I just need to review them once again to be sure I haven't missed anything.  This afternoon and evening I will watch some more basketball.  Pat and Scott did get to Costco yesterday afternoon.  When they got home Scott put everything away and later had dinner with us.  We enjoyed the dinner that was brought over to us two evenings ago.  Yesterday morning the man of the couple who visited us Sunday came back with more food and he stayed and visited with me, which I really enjoyed, although I wear down pretty fast when talking.  Fortunately he did most of the talking.  Then last evening I had a call from another lady in our Sunday School who said she would be bringing us meals from the Wednesday night dinner on the 1st and 3rd of each month.  This is something they do for the shut ins (hard to believe I now fall into that category but guess this is now reality).

Carol, I hope Janet and Darrel are having a great time while they are away and that they stay well while gone.  Other that sneezing more I haven't been too impacted by our heavy pollen.  Of course I am seldom outside.  You could have worse duty that having to spend another month in Arizona although know you would like to get back to the Denver area to be with your family when they are all together.

Ellie, we always ate at the dinner dinner while I was growing up and had three large meals.  Pat and I have always had at least one meal a day at the dinner table except for the last few weeks.

Patricia, you are quite right about family traditions changing over the years.  I guess it is a part of adjusting to life as it is rather than as it once way.  That is not always for the better but just is.

Carol

Larry:  It is time for you and Pat to enjoy being on the side of loving and receiving.  You and Pat have been in the community long enough to meet new friends and I know you both contributed with your gifts.  Yes, it will be alright to change plans - remember the olds saying, "Man plans, God disposes".  There must be a reason for everything and I need to talk to myself about TRUST - all the answers are in the bible.

Today, we plan to meet a cousin half-way to her Arizona home.  She and hubby live in Minnesota - you should see all the license plates from the mid-west in the winters of Arizona.  We are meeting at Cracker Barrel which is almost half way to each of us.  I made a pot of Split-pea soup and will bring a quart along to give to her husband.  Don is feeling better today and for that I am grateful.

Ellie:  The special cheese is toasted under a little table-sized grill than carefully scraped from each little pan (watched closely) and the melted cheese is poured over little potatoes and other vegetables.  How many people are in your city?  Can you walk to most of the shops?  Enjoy your day!

Hi Everyone on another beautiful sunny day with a high temperature expected of 68 degrees.  Yesterday turned out to be a pretty busy day and Pat and I have decided that today is a take it easy day.  I did get my Income Taxes finished, filed and accepted by the IRS and the State.  It was a good thing I looked them over again as I found two major errors I had made.  As a result my large tax refund went way down but at least I didn't have to pay more taxes.  I did lay down for a couple of hours and then got up and as Pat went to Walmart I folded a basket of clothes and then worked on Pat's computer coping a lot of files from the one she used to use to the one she is using now and a few other things.  I plan on watching more basketball today just as I did yesterday afternoon and evening.

Carol, we have had four years to make new friends and as we always have we found those friends among our Church family.  It is pretty amazing when one realizes how much wisdom is included in the Bible.  I remember noting all the out of State cars during the visits I made to Apache Junction to visit my folks.  I expect many of them have or will soon leave to return to homes up North.  I hope you had a great visit with your cousin and sure glad Don was feeling better so maybe he could enjoy the visit more.

Carol

We met my cousin and her husband at Cracker Barrel that is between Phoenix and Tucson.  Miles of heavy traffic and they drive faster here than any place I know.  We took a slower way back and actually got to view the beautiful roadside flowers this time.  Flowers are earlier this year from all the early rain.  This smaller road goes to Apache Junction or the other way is Tucson.

News from this area is the massive migration that is overwhelming - people from many countries are being dropped.  What is happening and what is on the national news are two different stories.

Larry:  Does your neck ache from watching the bouncing basketball game?

Hi Everyone. It is another beautiful morning with an expected high of 77 degrees and the sun should shine most of the daylight hours.  I woke up tired this morning although I had a good nights sleep.  By the time I got my shower, washed out the hose to my CPAP machine and got dressed I could hardly hold my head up.  I asked Pat to put my breakfast tray together and bring it to my office this morning, something I very seldom do.  I appreciate your comments that I am probably feeling better although that isn't the fact.  My longer posts just mean that I got started writing and didn't want to leave anyone out of my comments.  Today is not one of those days so just going to check in.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.

Carol

Mornings are just coming around much too quickly.  :coffee:  My sewing machine is giving me grief and it is sitting there quietly waiting for me to work on trying to find the problem.

On the news last night, they had a video of a pretty good sized Bobcat strolling through a neighborhood.  Twice, I have spotted Bobcats here and one had the baby with her walking much too close to us.

Larry:  Good morning -

Hi Everyone. It is going to be a cloudy and cooler day today getting up only into the low 60s.  Yesterday afternoon Scott came over for a few minutes to fix my 50 foot oxygen hose along the walls and behind our easy chairs where it does not present a tripping hazard and I started using oxygen sitting in my easy chair during the afternoon and evening as well as in the afternoon while I am resting in bed and during the night.  Sorry to say that I am not getting any better but weaker each day it seems.  So once again I am just going to check in today.

Marilyn, I did prepare a posting here but apparently somewhere along the line it didn't get saved.

Carol

I am back - there were VA appointments for Don, visitors, and now I am preparing part of a meal for 7 of us - at another house and my job is to get the Swiss cheese called Raclette plus vegetables which I will cook here over there.  We toast the cheese from an electric apparatus & carefully watch it melt, then scrape the cheese over new red potatoes, asparagus, and green beans that I will pre-cook here.  Too Much Information.

Marilyn, you will have that wonderful Kona coffee and other great stuff.  I hope the weather is perfect.

Reporting that humming birds have returned and I don't have nectar out because bees clogged the hangers last year.  Quail are here all over the back yard and so quick to disappear. All are gifts from God.

Larry and Pat:  You are loved.  I am so glad your son is nearby and you have great friends at church looking out for you two.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. We are going to have a beautiful sunny day.  Not peppy today so am just going to check in.  I have read everyone's postings and appreciate them.

Marilyn

Raining here today. Keith has an eye Dr appointment is just a bit. I know his eyes have changed a lot since he was last diagnosed with that Atrophy on the Visual Cortex. He doesn't think  so but I do. He has good days and  very forgetful days. It exacerbates in the afternoon. Some days are moments of forgetfulness etc. I think he is getting worse, but not so bad that I can't deal it it so far. Notice the key words here are SO FAR. Some days he is like a disobedient child. Like he is not even supposed to be pulling the rope on the lawnmower but insists he needs to mow the lawn. Dr says NO! I have hired landscapers to come clean up both the front and the ivy filled back. They should be doing the first visit either Friday or Monday depending  if the get another job finished on Thursday. Keith can't be trusted not to get out the mower and try, so the mower is going to be disables so he can't use it. I am removing the spark plug.

Larry:  Good to see your daily report. Are you having warmer weather?  There is another chance of snow at home (Colorado) and, of course, avalanche warnings.  Here, it is into the 70's daily.

We had a wonderful evening outdoors with two other couples and our friend (widowed now).  Most of my afternoon was spent just preparing for the meal and, now- today - I must get things ready for a cousin and wife visiting for three days.  We do go out for one dinner and they are easy to please.

Carol

Marilyn:  Good idea to take out the spark plug.  There are lots of places he can get into trouble - my friend's husband took the car and drove to a grocery store to buy her flowers and thankful he made it back to the garage safely.

I hope Janet checks in soon.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. It is our second day of sunny weather and is to get into the low 70s this afternoon.  Scott and the girls were here last evening for supper and Pat had put together a meat loaf.  She has found this a pretty easy meal to make since she discovered putting  all of the ingredients into the mixer and letting it do the mixing work.  The past couple of days haven't been very good for me as have been so tired I haven't wanted to to anything but lay down or sit and do nothing in my easy chair.  I am not sure today is going to be any better as took my shower this morning and almost feel several times in the shower as my legs seemed too weak to hold me.  I think we are going to have to take down the towel rack in the Master bath and put another grab bar in its place as it isn't safe to grab the towel rack for support.  Enough complaining as I am grateful to still be here.  Scott is going to pick up a sub at Firehouse Subs and come out and share it with us at noon.  He was suppose to have today off but has been called in to work late this afternoon and evening and that is when he normally would come out.  He did bring out the ramp for the garage and put it up but decided it wasn't safe anymore so he folded it up and put it on the street and it has already been picked up by the city this morning.  Once again I am going to have to beg off from making individual comments this morning as just don't have the energy to do so.

Carol

Larry:  Have two grab bars installed plus you need a bench in the shower.  Do it today, please.  Have you thought about having a home health nurse for a few hours a week?  Our friend had a lady who knew exactly how to handle her husband in the shower and so many helpful things.  Just a few hours a week would ease your mind.

For the first time, there are little blue flowers showing in the back yard - next to a Palm tree.  Someone told me that the seeds could have been there for years but needed the extra rain from this Spring.

Cousin Dennis arrives today with wife.  We always have a great visit.  He stays in Yuma all winter now and has to drive there from north of Seattle.  So lucky we have time to visit.  He and his wife used to go into Mexico every winter when they retired (she is a nurse) but it is too dangerous for many volunteers had to drop working at an orphanage.

Hi Everyone.  Once again we are to have a very nice day getting up into the low 80's.  Our nights are still chilly but no frost in the forecast and hopefully that is over for this Spring.  Scott was here for about an hour yesterday and did bring out a Firehouse Sub, which served as my main meal for the day.  I really got nothing accomplished yesterday as just wasn't up to it.  It look likes today may be a replica of yesterday.  I did enjoy watching one of the basketball games last evening.

Carol, we do have a long grab bar in our shower and it has a bench but the shower is fairly long and I didn't find the bench to be very helpful other than when it kept me from falling yesterday.  The shower is a one piece fiberglass unit with one side glass.  I had sponge baths until I was 16 or so as our house had no bathroom until that time.  I made a decision yesterday that I will do this type of bathing from now on as yesterdays experience of almost falling in the shower even while holding on to the grab bar really frightened me. I will have to figure out how to get my hair washed but have a couple of ideas.  Fortunately I don't have a lot of hair on my head to wash so shouldn't be too much of a problem.  Fortunately my rollator will go into the bathroom and I can sit during most of the bath.  I hope you had a nice visit with your cousin Dennis and his wife yesterday. Pat checked out the towel rack yesterday and feels it is securely anchored in studs and we really don't need a grab bar there.

Rebot, as Jackie said I hope your need at home is not for something serious health wise for your husband or for you.  Good to see you post.

Jackie, I hope you adjust to your new glasses easily.  It seems that old style frames are coming back as I saw an ad yesterday for an eyeglass place and one of the frames they showed was something I remember from my youth.

Greetings Jackie  There is a chance if husbands or wives differ in saying grace, that it might not be said at the table.  I must say that on the occasion when we have attended family or friends, if Grace is said then we will take part.  In fact, I have been asked on several occasions to say Grace when visiting family and friends.

As I said in an earlier post, it must be up to the individual to make up their own mind and certainly not ask people to say Grace, if they choose not to.

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a partly or mostly cloudy day today with a high of around 79 degrees (not bad for the end of March. I had a great nights sleep last night and it was after 9 am before I got up this morning.  I did accomplish a little something this morning as was able to unload the top tray of the dishwasher.  A good friend from Church came over yesterday afternoon to visit us and brought us a large bag of food.  She brought about a gallon of beef vegetable soup, two dozen roast beef sliders and a container of lemon square.  Guess what we had for an early dinner last night and it was all very good.  Pat had a very busy day yesterday including doing laundry and make a large batch of oatmeal raisin cookies, which about did her in.  I hope she will take today easy as she about overdid yesterday.  I have nothing on my schedule for today.

Ellie, right now I am just happy to make it through each day and am very doubtful that I will ever really feel better, but I have been wrong before.  I usually do sleep well at night.

Jackie, comfort works for me and glad you got yourself comfortable glasses and what you wanted.  Glad you are having nice weather.

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see you posting today.

Hi Everyone.  It is a cloudy morning but we only have a low chance of rain.  I am just going to check in this morning as used up most of my energy getting my bath this morning. I am listening to our Church service from last week.  It is recorded on Sunday morning but not available on the website until towards the end of the week.

Hi Everyone on this April 1st.  It looks we will have a mostly cloudy morning and then a sunny afternoon with a high only to 60 degrees. I am hoping to have a much better day than yesterday. The unstable angina started again yesterday afternoon and evening.  It never got too bad but just uncomfortable.  I hope to have a little more energy for today but so far that has not been the case.  Pat had set out my breakfast tray last evening so I only had to get a couple of things from the refrigerator.  Scott was coming out yesterday afternoon but never made it as he fell asleep and didn't awaken until after 7 pm and that was too late so he said he would try to get out sometime today.  He has today and tomorrow off from work so hope he can spend a few hours with us. I am going to have to just check in for today or at least limit my comments.

Hi Everyone on a rainy, chilly but otherwise nice morning and we are to see the sunshine by mid-afternoon.  We were suppose to get up an inch or more of rain last night but have no idea whether we did or not.  I have managed to get a few things done this morning such as emptying the top rack of the dishwasher and fold up a few rags that Pat had washed that will be needed by our housekeeper when she gets here Friday.  I have several other small projects I would like to do or get started on this morning but other than fill my medicine boxes for the next two weeks they are not high priority.  Scott did make it our yesterday morning and stayed until about 2:30 when he had to go home and get ready for work.  I think when I wrote here yesterday that it was Wednesday morning and not Monday morning. He worked on his mother's computer and fixed it so she can use Chrome on it.

Ellie, glad to see your posting as always and your greeting to me.

Freckles looks and smells great.(she went to the groomer yesterday) Today I will be working at the hospice office for a couple of hours. The caregiver/housekeeper called and was going to ER about her blood sugar. She has more trouble with her Blood sugar. She only comes once a week now mostly for the cleaning, I  have so much back pain when I have to vacuum. However, I don't seem to have a problem bending to clean the litter boxes or make the bed.

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful sunny day today with a high expected of 73.  We are looking forward to Scott being with us later this afternoon and early evening.  Other than that I expect it to be a pretty quiet day.

Good morning Ellie.  I hope you all are having some very nice weather.

Marilyn, it is always nice to get our pets groomed and bathed.  Sweeping carpets is not an easy job.  I haven't tried to sweep floors for several years except with a little light weight broom and dustpan for spot pickup.  I hope you enjoyed your work at the hospice office.  I expect there is a lot of record keeping needed in such an office.

I was thinking of Janet and Darrel this morning and have sort of lost track of how many days they have been on their trip.  I expect it at least over.  I was also thinking of Ruth Ann and hope her move went well and that she will help in keeping her new apartment set up.  Also thinking of Judy and John and our dear Pat.  I hope she is now recovered enough to leave rehab.

Greetings Larry  Not a good weather day on the Isle of Man today.  We have rain now and again and a high of 52F.  In fact, some parts of the United Kingdom had snow this morning.

Greetings Everyone  I think it will be another day at home for us, rain due, though some sunshine this morning.  I noticed when shopping a few days ago that there were Easter Eggs on sale.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful and sunny morning and headed to a high in the mid to upper 70's today with no rain in the forecast until possibly late tonight. The kind lady from our Sunday School class did bring by the Wednesday night dinners of fried chicken, salad, French fries and a thin but rich dessert.  Two pieces of chicken were on each dinner so I had the wing, 3 French fries, a little of the salad and the dessert.  I gave the rest of the dinner to Scott and Pat had put one piece of her chicken on Scott plate.  The girls were here but they had eaten before they got here to I reimbursed them for the cost of their dinners as it was no more than what it would have been had we taken them out to eat.  There are only two more Wednesday night dinners in May and then the meals will stop for the summer.  I can go online and pay for the dinners.

I think Scott discovered the problem with Pat's computers that wouldn't connect or stay connected to the Internet.  It had to do with the IP address and rather than one that changes he put in a static one.  He was also able to figure out how to get the games downloaded that Pat had paid for over the years.  Obviously we were happy happy as that takes a big weight off my shoulders thinking I would need to restore the computer to factory condition.  He will be out again this afternoon and will do the same adjustment to the other laptop.

When I made my Camomile tea last night I noticed it was very dark and had a different flavor.  When I finished I discovered that Pat had not removed the coffee pod from yesterday morning so I had a blend of decaf coffee and tea.  I would usually notice this before I start the coffee pot to dispense the hot water but had not.  We had a good laugh over this unimportant oversight by both of us and I will be more careful in the future.  After I finished the tea I had a great night's sleep.

Jackie, do you enjoy the Easter Eggs?  I assume these were candy eggs and not dyed real eggs. Glad you won a game and had a good time.

Ellie, we are like you all in that we seldom leave our home.  My next outing will likely be to the barbershop in a week or two.  I have encouraged Pat to get out, which she does occasionally.  We got one of those lightweight sweepers when we moved to this house and didn't have a housekeeper.  It was still hard on Pat and now usually our little broom and dustpan will do the pickup if something gets on the floors and our housekeeper does all the floors each time she is here.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Good Man Larry for reminding us we both need to go to see the hairdressers. I still go to get my hair done, hubby does sometimes, though I can organise a home visit when needed.

Our battery sweeper's on and off button jammed and I had to let the battery power off.  And the manufacturer kindly replaced it free of charge.  Splendid customer service.

Talking about Easter Eggs, if we buy one it will be a chocolate Easter Egg.

Janet

HONEY!  I'M HOME!!.... :)   ;)
I kept looking for today's date to post, but this is the closest I could find.  Maybe April hasn't been opened yet?

We got home Tuesday night at midnight.  I wanted to check in while away but had a lot of connection problems, etc.  Only managed to post a very few photos so far, several of those since we got home.

Carol, thanks for thinking of me!  The trip was wonderful, but last Sunday night I fell when stepping out of the shower and hurt myself pretty badly.  It was an elevated shower, about 9 inches down to the slick tile floor, and the tiny bath mat slid and down I went!
Fell across the toilet on my chest and arm, and hit my knee on the tile.

Time to leave for the doctor's--will finish later!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Janet

I'm home again.  Darrel wanted to take me to another doctor, just to make sure all is okay in my chest.  She ordered more X-rays, will call to tell me if they see any cracked ribs or dislocated ones.
My knee is really sore, but is a little better each day.  It was s long and uncomfortable ride home, needless to say, we were very glad to get here!

The trip was really nice.  Darrel was very moved by Normandy; especially Omaha Beach and the American cemetery there.  They had a special ceremony for our group and took photos of the Veterans among us.

The crew of the ship MS Bizet were top notch!  They treated us like royalty.  ;) There was an outbreak of the norovirus on board and they worked so hard to nip it in the bud, and they did!  There was much use of hand sanitizer when entering or leaving the dining room, boarding or leaving the ship, and they sanitized the ship stem to stern and top to bottom!  Was so happy neither of us got the virus!

We saw and toured such huge and beautiful Chateaus (Castles).  French history is very long and very complicated, with all the drama of royalty and intrigue. I wonder if the kids dread studying French History in school?  ;)   One thing I didn't know is that the Kings were nomads, moving often, with 1000 to 1,500 people, all their furniture and stuff!  What a job!  One King had 12 castles! They look very beautiful, but were cold and drafty, and not comfortable places to live.

A real highlight for me was visiting Claud Monet's home and gardens at Giverny. The gardens have been restored to the way he had them during his life.  Also saw his burial place, a family tomb, in a nearby cemetery.

I have read all the posting from the days I missed, and so glad to see Larry still faithfully stopping in to greet us, even when he doesn't feel at all well.
We love you, Larry!

I think it's time to eat--we skipped lunch.  We ate enough on the trip to fast for a month--but we won't!  ;)

This is enough (maybe more than enough) for today. It's good to be back in touch with all of you.

We are glad you had a wonderful holiday.  But, sorry to hear of your fall, sending best health wishes for a speedy recovery.  Hopefully, no cracked ribs, but heavy bruising is painful.  Have you been given any pain relief?

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  Kind of a dreary morning and will be a cloudy day with the temp getting into the low 60's this afternoon.  Our housekeeper will be here today.  I am going to just have to check in for today as am fighting a great weariness this morning. This is one of those mornings when I am having trouble holding my head upright when I am standing but can keep it upright when sitting.  I did get in the car yesterday morning and go with Pat over to Walmart to pick up the grocery order.

Janet, glad to see you safely home but so sorry about your fall and a tough ending for your fine trip.

Ellie, glad you had good customer service with your vacuum.

Janet

Hello, Larry.  Sending you best wishes for a return of strength today, and prayers for peace.  You know I admire your strong faith and accepting attitude so much.  You inspire me!

Yes, Ellie, thank you.  I now have 800 mg Ibuprofen and Tramadol for the pain, was able to sleep pretty well last night, until chest pain woke me around 3:30 when pain med wore off.  But I'm getting better day by day and bit by bit. "This too shall pass!"

Hi Everyone. We are in for another cloudy day with a high in the mid-70s.  It is sort of like day and night the way I felt all day yesterday and last evening and how I am feeling this morning.  I actually feel a little more human today and looking forward to the day.  Late this afternoon are the last two semi-final games in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  They are getting started early enough that I should be able to watch all of both of them.

The top Amateur women golfer from around the world are competing in the final round of the first Annual women's golf tournament ever played at the Augusta National Golf Course.  This is the only round they will have played on the true Master's Course as the other two days were played at another course.  I am sure I will watch quite a lot of the men's Tournament, which gets underway Tuesday with special events and then the actual tee off for the Tournament starting on Thursday.  Even if one doesn't care for golf just looking at the magnificent golf course and all the beautiful blooming plants is worth while.  This is considered the premier golf course in the world.  Many people fly in using their own or company planes and the roads are clogged and the restaurants and other businesses love it. Many people rent out their homes for this week for thousands of dollars.  The schools have their Spring break this next week and many residents leave town.  Our Church services have reduced attendance, except we older folks plus many of the activities of the Church are cancelled for the week.

Janet, I appreciate your prayers and concern.  Glad the doctor gave you some pain medications to help while you overcome the effects of the bad fall.  I sure hope you were able to get a good night's sleep last night and feel somewhat better today.  Do you have any broken ribs?

Ellie, I always try to remember that the person I am talking to about a consumer complaint is just an employee and didn't cause the problem and I find them willing to try to help solve the issue.  When they provide good service or have tried to do so and always try to thank them.  I wouldn't want their job of listening to people complaining all day long. I didn't have any choice of having a do nothing day yesterday as had no energy or desire to do anything.

Janet

Larry, how thankful I am to read that you feel better today and are looking forward to watching the sports.  I know I do not need to remind you to not overdo!  ;)

The Nurse Practitioner didn't call me, so I'm assuming I have no broken or cracked ribs.  The pain is much less in both chest and knee, I'm hoping part of that is due to healing and not all due to pain killers.  I try not to take any more medications than necessary.  But I do pay the price if I wait too long!

I plan to attend a little Jewelry making class at the Artery this afternoon.  It's only two hours, fun, easy, and will mean having several Christmas gifts done!

Ellie, you, Larry and I have had this place all to ourselves for a couple of days!  I do hope some others come to chat!  Oh, yes, I did see the one from Jacqueline--hi, Jackie!  (Do you mind being called by the shortened version?  If so, tell me, and I won't do that any more!

My chest is telling me it's time for another Tramadol.  :-\   Talk to you all later!

I wrote s post I believe it was Thursday and  it vanished into thin air. I looked for it yesterday and found it not. On of the grocers here is having a one day giveaway  of up to eight 16" pots of  good potting soil if you buy some plants. I have 3 large pots already in the car already. This is once  every spring. I still have the 3 large pots that Gilbert planted tomatoes in last year out on the deck, I am going to dig up 3 roses and plant them in the pots on the deck, when I get my tomato plants I will put those in the new dirt. Every May there is the Master Gardner's organic tomatorama in the mall.

I've borrow two suitcases for our trip but I think the biggest one will be too big, So I will take then next size smaller, my backpack for a carry on and my CPAP machine. Janet You fly a lot, am I supposed to take our medications in the original containers, Or can I take them in the little daily does boxes.? Those will go in the carry on.

Janet

Marilyn, we always take ours in the pill strips, with rubber bands to insure they don't get spilled (learned from experience). Things like OTC pain killers we usually take in original containers (small.)  I'm impressed!  You're packing already and not going until June??  If I pack even two weeks ahead, I find myself having to go see what I packed!  For one week, I could pack all I need in a carry-on bag.
Everyone does things the way they like, and that's good!

We are trying to choose a date to go to Florida to visit grandson Mark.  Right now, American has some good prices on flights from Garden City to Orlando.  Must call Mark to double check when he can be off work a few days, also Tiffany, his wife.

Planning and anticipating is half the fun!  I wish you a wonderful, relaxing, refreshing trip!

Janet I am, not packing already. I would be  re-packing anbd unpacking several times If I started now. I am just getting all the in formation a plus thinking ahead about what I need leave home and what I can take. I think I would do better with lists.

Greetings Janet  Tramadol are very addictive.  A few years ago they were placed on the list in the UK and the Isle of Man as a class C drug.

It could be I am a chatterbox!

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see your post.   Sometimes I think some people like complaining and  at staff, when it is not the member of staff's fault.  Civility and making one's  point about a product in a pleasant way is what is needed.

Janet

Ellie, I know--that's why they will only prescribe one week's worth of Tramadol!
I certainly don't want to be addicted to any substance! Aren't they bad to constipate one, as well?  I have stool softeners, in case.  Not a pleasant subject, sorry folks.  :-[

Hi Everyone. We are to have another cloudy day with it getting to 80 this afternoon.  It wasn't that warm yesterday but still comfortable to to sit out on the porch yesterday afternoon, which I did for 30 minutes or so and hope to do so again this afternoon.  I had to wash the pollen off the porch chairs.  In the past I have done that with the garden hose but can no longer get to the turn on valve.

Happy to say I had a day yesterday that I was not anxious to have it end as was feeling a 100% different than on Friday and enjoyed the day.  This is the second day in a row my blood pressure was too low to take the diuretic as was only 59 and the doctor told me it must be at least 60 or above to take it.  The main thing I have on the agenda today is to go to Church by listening to last weeks Church service online as I can visualize being there. I did watch a couple of hours of golf yesterday afternoon and then watched the first game of the Semifinal of the men's basketball game.  I didn't try to watch the second game as came on too late.  However, when I got up to have my Camomile Tea I did catch the last few minutes of it.

Janet, I keep testing my limits on the days of I better and yesterday before coming into the house walked to the mail box at the end of the short driveway  but decided that was too much by the time I got into the house and settled in my easy chair. I hope the no news from your Nurse Practitioner was good news concerning possible broken ribs. I think Pat also has the same pain medicine as you but may be wrong and tries to not take it if she can avoid it.  Yesterday she did have to take it and also used the TENS unit, which gives her relief from the back pain.  Fortunately we had some left over potato soup that we had for our supper so she didn't need to cook anything.

Marilyn, I hope those flower pots will not be too heavy for you to lift when they have the new potting soil in them.  I am sure it is not fun to travel with the CPAP machine.  Years ago, when Pat had her first CPAP and we did occasional traveling it was pretty heavy and had a big carrying case.  Our big ones are not very heavy but we would also have to carry the distilled water for the tanks that are attached.  Since we have not traveled for several years we have not had to pack them up and take them.  The last time I flew I read the requirement and it strongly suggested taking the medications in their original bottles to aid in getting through the TSA lines.  That may have changed but suggest you go online and read the current TSA guidelines.

Ellie, the pain medication Pat takes is also a controlled substance and when I picked up the prescriptions for her I have had to let them scan my driver's license and sign a special form.  It has been a few months now since I picked up her medication. I am sure customer service folks really appreciate calls from customers who are polite and pleasant to work with.

Jackie, about everyone calls my granddaughter Jenn but she will always be Jennifer to me and that is what I do and will continue to call her.

Jane, let me add my belated birthday wishes as well.  I depend on others mentioning birthdays as that is something I am not good at keeping track of.  I hope you treated yourself to something special.

...you are the same as me...my daughter I christened as Vivienne, she has always disliked that name, and over the years she makes sure her friends call her Viv, some might call her Vivi, this is what she likes them to call her, I am sure as she is soon to be 50, she still plans on being called by Viv - Vivi...She knows I will always call her Vivienne whatever age she becomes...whether to her face or written in a card...
I liked that name then, and I still like that name now...Vivienne it will always be to me...

Larry, great news to read that you are having some better days, and even enjoying sitting outdoors for a bit.  Sunshine and fresh air are God's remedies for lots of things that ail us!  :) We have been to church, ours gets out at 11:00, as they have Sunday School and Small Groups after church.  I was glad to get home, as I got very uncomfortable before we got out.  I always think I should be all well in this length of time.  Not this time.  :-\  But soon, I hope!

Jackie, I think Vivienne is a pretty name.  But I've noticed through the years that many people, especially girls, dislike their names.  I did, for many years, then decided Janet is a good name.  It means God's gracious favor!  And is the feminine form of John, my Dad's name.

Happy Birthday, dear Jane!  :hbirthday:    :hb3:  :hb2:
Let's have a party!! (even if it's late!)

I'm hurting a lot through back and chest, think I will flop in my recliner and maybe take a little nap if I can get comfortable.

Carol

Since March we have had 8 visitors and perhaps the last left today.  They drove from Seattle and we took them for a desert hike and visited a store so she could shop for lighter slacks. Three days - Don is taking an early nap.  This is getting hard for him.  Mornings are still cool and afternoons are warming up quickly.  Quail have returned - they are my favorite sightings.

Ellie:  It sounds like you know London very well.  Still a fascinating city.  Our youngest son and daughter-in-law are scheduled to visit Scotland this summer.

Marilyn:  I hope you have a stress-free time in Hawaii and everything goes well for you.

Larry:  Always nice to see your note - I don't check anything when company is here as they always stay in "my laptop room".   ;)

Janet:  Sorry about your fall - I hope you do well in getting off the pain pills.  What a wonderful and moving experience you had at Normandy.  We didn't see any ceremony but just looking over the cliff is enough to make a person cry - what a tremendous effort for all the youngsters - bless their souls.  I don't think we teach enough about WWII in our high schools.

House is all cleaned - and this is a Sunday where we couldn't get to church because cousin stayed and stayed.  They loved the crockpot of cooked oatmeal with dried fruit in it and that is the easiest thing to make for company.

We took a drive through Phoenix to show some sites and have vowed to never even drive through that city again.  Reckless speed is all they know and they drive way over the speed limit then slam on brakes - do I sound like an old driver?

Thank you all for the Birthday greetings.  I was trying to keep quiet about that. :-[  It was a very quiet day, just the way I like it.  Facebook does a great job letting everyone know, and I did receive greetings from almost all my family and certainly a huge number of friends.  Dottie called in the evening and she had her grandson there. Bladen in six and he wanted to tell "Great Grandma" Happy Birthday.  He asked if I was doing anything special for my birthday and said "You should get a cake".  So ... Janet we will have that party after all, I guess.  :) At 84 I am now the longest living female in my family.  ::) I still have a brother in Phoenix who is two years older.

I have to smile to myself whenever I'm talking with Dottie and she mentions how "old" she is.  She's the youngest of my three girls and will have her 58th birthday on Thursday.  ;D

Hi Everyone.  I have read all of the postings since yesterday but am only going to check in today as not feeling very good and am very tired.

Carol

Larry:  It sounds like you need a peaceful and restful day.  Take care.

Rebot:   Greetings:  Going from a London to your more quiet area must have been a refreshing change yet so different.

Belated Birthday wishes to Jane...

I counted visitors from the last 4 weeks and it is 10 - forgot two people.  Good grief.

It is going to be 90 F. today.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We had a stormy and rainy late afternoon and evening yesterday and more rain is in the forecast for today but tomorrow and Thursday are suppose to be nice.  At least it is warm.  They had to suspend the first practice round at the Master's Tournament yesterday due to the lightning and high winds.  We have the chance of having the same situation again this afternoon and evening.  I had a very good night's sleep last night but am still tired today so am just going to check in again this morning after reading the posting from Carol yesterday.

Janet

Larry, I pray your days of feeling so tired will very often be interspersed with much better days.Remember we are here, cheering you on, loving you, and praying for you.

I was shocked when I tried to get out of bed this morning! I felt so much better yesterday.  We had to get the oil changed in the car, so went to Garden City (about 60 miles away) shopped for groceries, had lunch, then took the car to the garage.  I didn't do anything hard, but I guess all the walking around in Wal-mart was enough.  I hurt so much through my chest, a bone-deep, throbbing ache, I could barely move!
Ugh.  So the pills are being taken today, for sure!  I'll be glad when this incident becomes only a memory.

Like Larry, I'm not going to add much today.  My recliner is calling me!

We are slowly getting ready to leave for home at the end of the week.  There is one last (hopefully last) snowstorm that is coming to our driving area this week but we leave on Saturday and it should be clear.  Only one little mountain pass in New Mexico so it should be OK.

Janet:  Sounds like you should talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side.  Rest well.
I have felt like a wet noodle just from the upkeep with company and taking them to new sites.   It is fun - it is exhausting.

JudyB

Good evening folks.  I have not been able to get on to the site till this evening.  Every time I would try I would get an error message.  I will start a new page tomorrow..

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  Finally a sunny and totally cloudless day for the first major even of the Master's Tournament.  However, the weather is looking iffy towards the weekend.  Scott and the girls will be here late this afternoon and Scott will make the Taco Pie for our dinner.  One of my good coffee drinking friends stopped by yesterday afternoon and we had a nice visit.  I am still feeling very tired this morning so am just going to check in again for today and hope tomorrow will be better.

Janet

Carol, I have been to a doctor since we got home, more X-rays, no broken or cracked ribs.  Deep bone bruises, which are very painful and take a long time to heal, so am just doing what I can, and when I need to, I rest.  Hope you can do the same. Even though you're a wonderful hostess, you need to cut back on your entertaining, it is taking too much out of you!  Surely your relatives will understand (?(

Larry, enjoy your TV golf!

I'm off for Wed. painting.  The former owner of the gallery is to be there today visiting, they have invited several others, so don't know how much painting will be happening.  And if I get too tired, I can always come home!  But it's good to be with friends.

Carol

Wow for wind today.  It is suddenly very cool - we used a coupon for a free breakfast and brought donations to a shop that helps needful organizations just in the county area.

Is anyone in the path of this mega storm?

Janet:  I do take it easy but have to control things a bit because Don has such a difficult time hearing - we manage. Everyone understands.  You need to remind yourself to slow down a bit too, lady!   ;) I hope you mend  quickly from bone bruises - that had to be a hard hit to bruise bones.  We all are trying to watch where we step and slow the pace.

A good friend just called and is coming over soon.  ---

Janet

Carol, you are right!  I am having to slow down, though not my wish.  It took a long time for me to realize how much the last several months caring for Beth took out of me.  I kept thinking I'd bounce back, like I always had, but it hasn't happened.
And, like you, I am trying to watch where I step and slow the pace.

We're having terrible winds here, too, and wondering if we're going to get snow!  After having temps in the mid-80s!  :o  Crazy!

When I got home today, I flopped into my recliner and promptly fell asleep.  We didn't want to get out in that wind to go to the dinner at church, so we stayed home.

Hi Everyone. We have an overcast but dry morning and it is suppose to be a very nice day for the beginning day of the Master's Tournament. There are tens of thousands of people here than have come from other places to see it. I will be watching on TV but probably not too much until the last afternoons and the weekend.  We have a special friend coming to visit us from out of town and she is bringing us dinner today.  She won't be here until after 3 pm and will likely stay for only a couple of hours, but that is enough as visiting like that really tires me any more.  I really enjoy it but it has a cost.  Scott and the girls were here yesterday evening and Scott plans on coming back out today.  I decided I would try once more to get into the shower after which I had to lay back down for awhile.  By the time I got to my office this morning I couldn't hold my head up.  Once again I have read all of the postings but going to just check in again today.

Richard died at home today sitting in his arm chair with his mouth and eyes open... After I called out the door for help, neighbours, police, ambulance medics spent hours trying to revive him, then the coroners came and took his body away..There was nothing out of the ordinary this morning, he had taken Toby to the groomers and not long been back, before having to back to collect him a little later..I also phoned the groomer to ask her if anything had seemed out of the ordinary, she told me no, nothing out of the ordinary..This is not sinking in, and will be worse when I wake up in the morning expecting him to still be in his bed as usual...

I'm so sorry, dear one.  There isn't much one can say at times like this, is there?  Glad he didn't have to suffer terribly, as others have.  And may our kind, merciful God grant you peace as you deal with this, and face your "new normal."  Remember, your friends are lifting you up in our prayers.  :grouphug:

I really could do with your hugs, real hugs...I dont think today I have achieved much apart from a call from the coroners office, and Richards sister phoned me again about making arrangements contacting our solicitor who is local to her, and if I remember right, making arrangements from Richards employer Vauxhall for returning the car...I think it may have been social services who phoned who suggested they will contact St Andrews, community church angels..
Do you know just how much for granted I took Richard? as I cant stop our phone from this constant bleep, bleep, never could, yet Richard only had to touch something and it would stop, I have pressed everything...I also have a continuous buzz almost like electricity pylons coming from the oven timer, again it has a mind of its own, I dont even use the oven, but Richard was the one who knew how to set it or stop the buzzing noise which also is driving me crazy, it is  constant hum.....I have not even put the tv on...Last night I finally dozed off 3.30am, woke up 6,30am, weighed myself and overnight I have lost 4.lbs of weight..not eaten much today, made several mugs of teas but some just sat un-drunk on the table...

Please continue to pray for me...I am the one left, I am going down hill...It was me who was meant to be the first one to go, not him...I kept telling him I would be in a mess...and with everything, the procedure, the bills, the moving, just about everything, he took over doing everything, he really did care about me...we never told each other how much nor did we tell each we loved each other...I was too busy moaning and complaining, well let this be a lesson to you, life really is too short...we were even joining social things that brought some fun to both of us, it all has to end now...never take life for granted, never wake up thinking this is just going to be a same day as it was yesterday...

I wanted someone this morning to sit down with me so I could let all my feelings out, I wanted someone to put their arms around me and give me a hug, a real person, a real hug...The lovely always friendly young tall post lady dropped off a parcel, she is the post lady always seemed happy who both of us liked...She stepped in the door, listened to me, gave me kind words, and gave me the hug I much needed...
I just want to go with him...

Hi everyone.  I am just checking in this morning as not feeling like posting more beyond this short note for Jackie.  This is the time to be very kind and gentle with yourself.  Just imagine yourself as being hugged by each of us on these discussions.  You know your friends here are pulling for only good things in your future and that we love you as a dear friend.  While you may not see it yet there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Janet

Amen to Larry's words, Jackie. Yes, be kind to yourself, you are now in a state of shock, nature's way of protecting you during this first part of the grief journey.  As he said, we do care about you, are here for you in the only ways we can be, ready to listen and to pray. I'm thankful for the post girl giving you the "in person" hug you needed so much, and may others follow!

I'm really hurting this morning; had a tough night and am taking pain meds.  They do help, but they don't take all the pain away.  I know I must try to be patient and give my body time to heal.  Doctor called me early yesterday morning and gave me more unwanted news, I so appreciate her kindness.  I think about Larry's steadfast patience with his heart condition, he is always an encouragement to me.

Hello to the rest of you who may pop in later.  I wish us all a blessed day.

I don't mind, Marilyn.  It's just that others have so much worse problems than I, I feel selfish talking about my problems.  What she told me is that it appears I may have COPD, had I ever smoked? No.
Had Asthma? No.  And I have only one kidney, it is only functioning at 52%. She told me to STOP taking the 800mg Ibuprofen I'd been prescribed, as it is very hard on the kidneys. She told me to take Arthritis formula Tylenol instead. And she thinks I may be developing diabetes. I told her they did the blood draw right after I had eaten lunch, so that's likely the reason for elevated sugar.  I've always been so strong and healthy, this is all a shock to me, but I am fully confident that I will soon be over this hurdle and back to being myself again.  I'm trusting God for my healing!  Prayers always appreciated!

" I am going to pieces, no one has come to see me, and just come off the phone from Richards sister, she isn't going to get to me for a couple of weeks..She has also gone back on what she said to me yesterday, she is denying she even said it about I am part of the family...now she cant answer that because she isn't sure..although she is also saying she didn't say it yesterday...She is helping as much as she can from her end but in reality it is for her brother ( which I understand of course, ) and not actually because she and her hubby cares for me, even when I asked them that once this is all over, I asked, no I begged, still believing what she said to me yesterday that I was part of the family, if she they the family will help me sell up and get back home near to them, she cant even guarantee doing that.....Have you ever felt unloved - unwanted? Followed by...

I posted this ealier but never posted it as afternoon dog walking friend came to walk Toby and another on site friend from down the bottom came to see me, at least he did come in, gave me a hug, and another hug as he left, he sat down and spent quite some time with me just talking about Richard about how he seemed, what he talked about recently, me, about what happened on the day and his medical issues leading up to it, he, basically things that Richard had told him when out walking Toby.....he also said after I had asked him if he will give Toby a morning walk as my neighbour across the way says he cant do it tomorrow morning...

I can add that at 8pm I am now eating three small new potatoes and two small brussel sprouts...

I want to make my apologies as I have not read any posts, maybe I am too afraid to as it may start me off crying again but...I know that on both forums ( S & Fs )  members - friends,  have posted in response to my many posts, so I say a BIG Thank You...And a special thank you to Larry Hanna for making a personal posting to me, as I read once again you are not feeling up to making any larger posting, please do take care, I dont want to lose another...

Jane Walker,  and a special thank you for my card, I have noticed it briefly but again cant at the moment bring myself to reading it, but I did notice it is a lovely card and has come from Jane, thank you so much Jane for thinking of me at this troubled time of my life...

Jackie I just don't know what else to say. We are here for you to vent  and whatever you feel like talking about. This is difficult for you that we all do understand and will keep on praying for you.

Janet, I will pray for you as well. Wow that was some shocking news you received. These older bodies seem to be falling apart on us. Keep  staying as active as you have been, that is what I am trying to do, although I do find myself being much more careful at the  gym and not over doing myself.

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful sunny day that will get up to 70 this afternoon.  I did wake up feeling better this morning.  I was able to take my shower this morning and each time I do it now I am finding new safeguards.  After I finished I laid down for the better part of of hour to recover some energy.  It is almost 10:30 now and haven't even eaten my breakfast/lunch, which I have at my desk and will eat as I work here this morning.

They made a very wise decision to start the golf tournament early yesterday as they got it over and people safely off the course before the stormy weather hit the area.  Fortunately most of the rain and storm was either South or North of the Augusta area.  I did watch a lot of the tournament both Saturday and Sunday as well as quite a bit of the Thursday and Friday rounds.  It was a very good event with a lot of excitement in terms of who might win right up to the end.  It was really some accomplishment for Tiger considering two years ago he doubted he could ever play competitive again due to back problems. The young guys will have many opportunities for wins in the future.  Nothing on the schedule for today but tomorrow will be buy as have an appointment for a test at the hospital and need to have some blood drawn for some test ordered by the kidney doctor in preparation for my appointment with him in a couple of weeks.

Jackie, it sounds like a wise decision to give up Toby as taking care of you is far more important than dealing with a pet.  It sounds like you have a couple of good prospects for someone to care for him.  It sounds like you are beginning to get some of your affairs in order.  I hope the retired nurse will be of great assistance to you in the days ahead.  I am glad to see you are beginning to see at least a small light at the end of the tunnel.  Things always work out although we don't see how they can.  Sending you some HUGS today.

Janet, hope you will soon be feeling better from your fall.

Carol

We just unloaded the car after driving from Tucson to Denver.

Jackie:  Keep reading bible verses that give strength and courage - this too shall pass.

Hi Larry:  Prayers for you and Pat.

Freeway driving is nothing like it was years ago and truck drivers are not the good people of  yester years. They are certainly not "gentlemen of the highway" anymore.  Stressed but happy to get off the road.  Yet, we were privileged to see a lot of snow on the mountain peaks all along the way from Tucson to Denver.  Colorado Springs is growing much too fast.

Does anyone care about hockey?  Don was elated to learn UMD - University of Minnesota Duluth won the National Championship.  It was a wonder to watch - they won the previous year too.

Making my grocery list and it is soon time to shop.  I wish that a pot of soup was brewing right now.

Take care everyone.

Greetings Jackie
We were so sorry to read of Richard's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We are all thinking of you here. Sending you hugs, many of them.

Everyone, I am not long home from a few days to see family.  I will post more in the next day or two.

...Please can you personally recommend the bible readings you would be reading if you was me right now... I am ashamed to say, this is something I never even thought of, although I am sure it will start me off crying...but it will be comforting to know I am nearer to God, or our God is nearer to me...I do have a bible in my bedroom, just rarely ever get it out, or maybe felt I never needed it, but I do now..
I need strength to get through this and I need strength  to face the future alone....

I somehow missed the notification that my Apple protection on my computer had expired (two years ago!) and boy, am I paying for that!  Spent three hours on phone with Apple Tech Support yesterday, and then a boatload of money for getting things cleaned up, and even more for LIFETIME protection, so this doesn't happen again.  And in all of that, I lost the REPLY box on here, and it took a bit to figure out how to get in so I can talk to you nice people!  Pheww!  Wore me out! Now I am supposed to call the nice tech guy once a month for a "checkup".

I've been watching the devastating, heartbreaking loss of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.  Having just been there, it really hurts to see this loss of an 870 year old iconic structure.  Very sad.

Jackie, Carol's advice is very good.  That's exactly what I did in the month leading up to my daughter's death in December 2017.  I immersed myself in Bible reading and prayer every morning, and it gave me the strength to face and endure what we knew was coming. God is the source of our lives, let Him be the strength you need at this time.  You will find you never want to face life without Him, ever again.  (((((hugs)))))

I have been on this computer all day today!  Unsubscribing to tons of emails I get deluged with every day; trying to find something we need, and listening to the news from Paris too.

I hope to be back to normal tomorrow.  We did go to the gym this morning.  All I did was walk a half mile on the treadmill at 3 MPH.  That was enough.

Blessings to each of you!

Good evening folks.  This has been a rough week for me, All is much better now, just very tired.

As many of you know our 18 year old grand daughter died on June 30th. There is no reason to go into details as to why just that the family has had a hard time wrapping our minds around her dying.

In the job of cleaning up and going through her things Heather Kimi's mother found her Bible, the one I gave her for Christmas 2013.  Heather has given it back to me.

Here are Kimi's words, written in the front and back of her Bible.

Glorify God in your temptation.
Agree with God about your struggle.
Believe the gospel: Jesus died for you.
Get with people who agree with God.
Fight like you believe God's promise
Don't try to fight this alone; if you could fix this you would have.
Know your triggers, weak points.
Choose your accountability partners carefully.
Celebrate your victories- large and small.
KEEP FIGHTING
Don't compare your struggle with anyone else's
1 Corinthians 12:4-26
There is no action like a body their action like other people are better. We know that because of what Paul said in this passage. You can't say to the feet I don't need you, you can't say say to the head I don't need you.
God has built me uniquely no one is the same, God has given me a purpose that no other person has.

What is your SHAPE
S; Spiritual gifts
H; Heart
A; Abilities
P; Personality
E; Experiences

Kimi had passages underlined in both old and new testaments, with notes in the edges of the pages, pointing out things she wanted to remember. I am humbled as I read her notes, and scan through her writings.  For the time being I will be using her Bible for my studies, and let her words wash over me.  I know she is with her Saviour, that helps, however reading her words has hit hard.  I really never knew that this was where Kimi's heart was. She didn't talk about thins like this with this old Gramma.

JudyB

We are already half way through April.  I still have a hard time getting onto this site.  So I am waiting for the beginning of May and will start a new page then.

We had snow again last night, and Wednesday is supposed to reach a high of 61F.  We are concerned with the higher temperatures, flooding is a big problem. as a result of the amount of snow we had this year.  There was a heavy layer of snow before the really low temperatures came.  As a result the ground is not frozen.  It is however saturated with the runoff.  We have a creek on the road that if the runoff gets too bad, it will flood the road.  Thankfully the township is keeping a close eye on it.

Well I am off to bed, So good night/good morning!

Greetings Judy B  Such a young age to pass away at eighteen year of age.  But Kimi's chosen passages from the Bible show a very wise  young lady.  In reading your post and what Kimi wrote, it shows me I never too old to learn from my children and grandchildren.

Hi Everyone.  For the second day we have clear skies with a high expected of about 75 this afternoon. I was really embarrassed this morning as have it in my mind that today was my appointment for the ultra sound.  When I looked at the paperwork this morning is saw that it is next week just as my calendar right in front of me shows as well.  I had gotten up early and was all ready to go and was ready to fast this morning before having blood drawn after the test.  Fortunately there was no harm done as we didn't make a wasted trip.  Today is the day to fill my medicine boxes for the next two weeks and will have to order some medicines also.  I did empty the top shelf of the dishwasher this morning and also folded a load of clothing.  I think that is my limit for today.

Carol, glad to see you had a safe trip home and hope you can have a few days to recover from the trip.  I have never gotten into watching hockey and must say I don't really understand the game very well.  Is your grandson still playing hockey?

Ellie, glad to see you home safely as well and know that you had a few days with family.  Sometimes a break in our normal routines is a good thing.

Jackie,  a suggestion and that is to do a search on the Internet for Bible verses on Grief.  The Bible says a lot about grief.  There is a wonderful website called Bible Gateway with a powerful search tool and many of the Bibles there use a reader and sometimes it is helpful to have it read to us as we follow along.  I have a wonderful Al-Anon book that says a lot about grieving and I plan on sending you some of the paragraphs from it later today or tomorrow. Jesus is there for you and wants to help you carry the burden you now have.  I looked up the "Five Stages of Grief" and think this website could be helpful to you :  https://grief.com/the-five-stages-of-grief/ .

Janet, sorry to hear of your computer problems with the Apple protection program but glad they were able to help you.  That is probably money well spent on getting the lifetime protection so you have a resource to turn to for regular maintenance. Glad you found us again.

Judy, sorry that you have had such a tough week. It is not easy to go through a loved ones things but sure the Bible will be a cherished thing for you in the month and years ahead.  You also might find some of the references I left for Jackie helpful.  Can you give us an update of Pat.  I am sure the strong belief that both she and Paul share are a source of comfort to her each day.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  I think you might have been more embarrassed if your appointment had been last week and not next week!

Janet

This will be short, as it's been a long day and I am exhausted.  Went to our Urologist today and learned the reason for several of my recent problems is that I have a UTI.  Ugh.  So when the culture results get in (on Friday) I will get whatever antibiotic they prescribe.  Meantime, I'm to take the Amoxicillin I already have on hand.

We took our son-in-law Jeff to lunch and enjoyed visiting with him; and on the way home, stopped in Hugoton and visited a bit with Diane.  It's so nice to have part of the family close.

Larry, I have done similar things many times--or at least several times.  I'm always embarrassed, and usually when I check the calendar, it's written there as plain a can be!

Jackie, I have been watching for verses that may be of comfort and encouragement to you, will be sending along as I find them.

Good evening, friends!  I am so glad we have each other!

Good Morning. I am keeping a close eye on Freckles. She is on bed rest for a week. She has developed arthritis  in her spine, there is one disk  that is gone possibly degenerative disk disease, She is on pain meds every 12 hours, no jumping in or out of the car, no Furry friend visits for now. She also has a raging ear infection in both ears. She is 10 yrs old now, so she is definitely a senior dog, She goes back to the Vet in a week and may be starting acupuncture.

Judy:  Sending thoughts of peace and love to you and all the family.

Larry: Yes,that g-son is playing and also coaching younger ones.  Girls play hockey too - they have their own team. It is a game of strategy and endurance.  Always good to come here in the morning and see your post.  Hello to Pat!

There is an alert for a woman in the area who has threatened to shoot at schools.  Another mentally misguided soul who needs help  - praying she will be stopped.  It is on the national news.

We are going to church Saturday night here and will drive north of the city for dinner on Easter with daughter and family.  I thought it would be easier for us to not go to the huge service and visit all in one day - would be too much for Don with his hearing issues.  We sure miss some gatherings but always thankful that so many people consider his hearing loss and crowds are too taxing for him.

Easter blessings to each of you!

Hi Everyone.  I am just going to check in for today as am very weary.  The last two or three days has caught up with me so will just take it easy the rest of the day with extra rest.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.

Jacqueline

Larry Hanna, I remember the Bible Gateway, do you remember when I had to read for the first time, Acts 2: 1-21 and its hard to pronounce words in front of the lady Bishop, how nervous I was..

I Have done a brief search on Bible verses to read at funerals, and out of some that came up I like these two...
John 14: 1-3
Psalm 34: 18

But Richard wasn't religious, nor do I think any of his family are either...

Greetings Larry  Take it easy.  When we feel we have more energy, we tend to overdo things.   [size]

Janet

Good evening!  I have had another peaceful day painting with friends.  I did one small one I like, and another that isn't any "great shakes."

Carol, I heard today that the mixed-up 18 year old "woman" shot herself.  Why would anyone get 'infatuated' with school killings?  So many mixed up people in this world.

I am so sad about the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris burning.  And to think, we were just there!  If it was arson (they are saying at this time none is suspected) but, if it was, I surely hope the culprit is caught and punished.  There is no punishment that would fit such an act of destruction, but things like that embolden others to copy-cat.

Jackie, I'm glad to hear that you are looking in your Bible for the comfort you need.  And I will continue watching for verses I think may be of help to you. If I ever get through this siege of doctor visits, I will be able to concentrate better.  Tomorrow I have to see eye specialist about macular degeneration. I have been very tired and draggy today, hoping my energy rebounds soon!  :)

Marilyn, I've not heard before of a dog being on bed rest.  How do you keep her in bed?  I surely hope Freckles rebounds soon, I know how special she is to you.

Ellie, thanks for your kind words.

I wish you all a good night's rest in the blessings of our Lord.

Hi Everyone. We have another cloudy but still nice day in preparation for tomorrow which may not be nice at all with a good chance of some severe storms tomorrow.  Scott and the girls were here last evening for dinner.  Right before they got here a couple of ladies from our Sunday School brought us a big meal of a lot of ham, squash casserole, lima beans and a great lemon pie.  Scott took are car back to his house last night to take it to the automotive place to get the oil changed.  They just called saying that work was done but that we needed two new tires and it was time to change the spark plugs and do some other maintenance work.  It will be a little less than $700 dollars and I went ahead and authorized them to do the work.  They were going to take Scott back to his house for the day and will come and get him this afternoon when the work is completed and he will bring the car back tonight when he comes out as he usually does on his days off.

Jackie, I do remember when you read the Scripture at your Church Service.

Ellie, you are right about overdoing when we feel better since we want to help when able.

Janet, glad you were up to going to your painting group yesterday and hope your eye appointment goes well.  I also hope you are feeling better from your fall.

Marilyn, it sounds like Freckles needs the rest and know where she can get it.

Carol

It is a sunny and cool morning here which is so normal.

Larry: Sorry about that auto repair bill - it is shocking what services cost these days.  Glad that you have loving attention from church members.

My good friend here goes to a mega sized church and there is a group of men of good will.   They came to her house and fixed a lot of things she could not do - all is for help to widows or housebound.  Isn't that a wonderful service?

Janet:  Hard to believe of all the school shutdowns over the Columbine shootings.  Everyone is asked to not say the name of the killers but pray for the families of those who were lost children.  We lived not too far from the park and school - it was too sad for words.

Janet:  Good to take care of those appointments.

Marilyn:  Wishing you well as you care for Freckles.

Jackie:  For me, I have set aside a daily time to read the good book

Yesterday, I walked over to a good friend's house and we caught up on news.  My intention is to check in with everyone possible.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. Just checking in today.

Janet

I came in and read all posts yesterday, just ran out of time and energy and didn't post myself.

Carol what a wonderful thing, the "Men of good will!" That is true Gospel in action!  Good not to give any attention to the school killers; that's what they want. I wrote a short note to Mathieu, our trip leader in France and told him I felt so bad about the Cathedral; he wrote me back a nice note in return.

We have had hard winds for a couple of days, as we do every year around this time.

Larry, I am getting a bit better each day from the fall. Sure makes me realize what damage one fall can do to a body!  Chest, back and arms still hurt, but knee only hurts after I sit a while, then it stiffens up again.

I want to post this for Jackie before I go to get my hair done:

Isaiah 41:10  Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

Adding this from The Upper Room:

Recently, I encountered a street sign, Rough road, next three miles."  Immediately my car began to shake and bump. I'm glad I know it's only three miles, I thought, or I might turn around and go back.  Usually in life we don't know the duration of a rough patch.  Often our struggles can seem endless.  Those who are unemployed, chronically ill, or living in war-torn areas do not know when they will find relief.  But in times of uncertainty, we can trust God's sovereignty and love for us.
When I was a teen, my mother was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given only months to live.
One morning, facing another uncertain day, I prayed, "Lord, I can handle anything as long as I know when it will happen."  Then I noticed a poster in my room that pictured a young woman looking out a rain-covered window thinking 'I'm afraid of tomorrow.'  Below it was the outline of a hill with a cross, and the words, "Don't worry.  I've been there before."  I felt God's peace as I realized that no matter how long the road ahead, of us is or what the outcome will be, Jesus not only knows every trial we will face but has already walked that rough road before us and will see us through.

Prayer:  Dear Father, help us to know that even in times of greatest uncertainty, we can be assured of your faithfulness.  Amen.

I hope this brings some measure of hope and encouragement to you today, Jackie.

Hi Everyone.  We had a very stormy day yesterday with tornado watches and warning and a significant amount of rain that occurred several times. However, we were spared any high winds and I have not heard of any tornadoes hitting around our area.  Today is also suppose to be cloudy and cooler but only a very small chance of rain.  After spending 20 or the 24 hours yesterday in bed I do feel somewhat better this morning and think I will be able to get a few things taken care of.  Yesterday morning my blood pressure bottom number was 46 but is up to 55 this morning, not high enough to take the diuretic but must better than yesterday. We will be having a quiet day here at home.

Jackie, glad to see that things are working out for you in terms of neighbors beginning to become aware that you can use a little help and you are getting things lined up to be able to get out for some social life when you are ready. What seems overwhelming become manageable when we just deal with one thing at a time.  It sounds like you do have some good neighbors.  You have a lot to live for although your life is going to be different.

I have read all of the postings but will once again take a pass on making individual comments to everyone.

Janet

Jackie, have you heard of the little devotional book Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young? I love it!  It amazes me that almost every time I read it, which I do every morning, what it says applies to my life that very day!  Only God's Word can do that. If you would like a copy, I'm sure you can Google the name and find it, I know Amazon has it.  I would send you one, but the postage would likely cost more than the book! I will copy here today's reading:

Do not be afraid, for I am with you.Hear Me saying, "Peace, be still," to your restless heart.  No matter what happens, I will never leave you or forsake you.
Let this assurance soak into your mind and heart until you overflow with joy.  Though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, you need not fear!

The media relentlessly proclaim bad news; for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  A steady diet of their fare will sicken you.  Instead of focusing on fickle, ever-changing news broadcasts, tune into the Living Word--the One who is always the same.  Let scripture saturate your mind and heart, and you will walk steadily along the path of life.  Even though you don't know what will happen tomorrow, you can be absolutely sure of your ultimate destination.  I hold you by your right hand, and afterward I will take you into Glory.
               ________________________

Sarah uses pure scripture for these devotions, and at the bottom of each page is listed the references of the scriptures used.  I know that Carol also uses this little book, probably others here, as well.  I hope you will get one, as it has proved to be such a blessing in my life, and I feel it will be for you as well.

Larry, my thoughts and prayers continue to be with you!

I was visiting with a friend yesterday and she asked me to buy her a Bible.  She wants one easy to understand, without all the "thees" and "thous", etc.  I'm pleased to find her one.  I feel the New Living Translation will be the best for her.  So I'm off to visit Google!

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi Everyone and HAPPY EASTER.  We have a beautiful Easter morning here but it is a bit cool and we will only see about 70 degrees later today.  Scott and the girls will be here for an early Easter meal with us as Scott has to be at work at 2 pm so will need to leave here around 1 pm.  I am sure the girls will also leave about the same time.  Scott is going to fix the green bean casserole  and the scalloped potatoes, the ham is pre-sliced and Pat will get it arrayed on the plate.  One of the girls will make the ambrosia salad.  After dinner will be time to rest for awhile and then plan on watching the end of the golf tournament, which is being hold at Hilton Head, SC this week.

After the rather miserable day on Friday that I spend mainly in bed, yesterday was a great day and I felt much better.  I am hopeful today will be about the same but can already tell it won't be a repeat of yesterday as not quite a peppy this morning. I always dread that time of the year when it is time to renew the Dish contract (every two years) and also see about getting a new promotional rate from Comcast.  I tackled both yesterday with very satisfactory results.  The Dish contract for the next two years gives me the same TV package and they are going to upgrade the Hopper where we will be able to record 500 hours of programming and up to 16 programs at the same time (I can't image why anyone would do that.)  The good news was by agreeing to have a paperless billing and automatic payment my bill will actually be about $4 less a month than I have paid the last two years.  Then the icing on the cake was when I later talked with Comcast I was able to get a promotional plan with the same Internet speed as I have had (25 megs) which is more than sufficient for us they gave me a new rate that saves me $20 a month from what I had paid the last year.  So I was a happy camper and was glad to have those chores out of the way.  I was also able to clear off my desk, which I had let pile up as hadn't felt like tending to it.

Janet, Pat has that Sarah Young book and likes it.  That reading you shared from yesterday was certainly right on.  It sounds like you made a good choice on the Living Bible for your friend and how awesome to be asked by someone for a Bible.

Jackie, glad to see you have ordered the book of Devotionals that Janet recommended.  When I have down times I try to remember that life can't be lived on a mountain top and that life takes us into some deep valley's but we wouldn't then appreciate being on the mountaintop.  Nothing stays the same.  It is good to see that you are getting to a little higher ground each day as people appear to help you and you have good things happen like finding the driver's license and you accomplish a little each day.  However, it is time for you to start eating as not eating accomplishes nothing good.  You must keep your strength up as I know you will find happier days ahead.

Marilyn

I just ordered the book too, it will be delivered tomorrow.

Greetings Everyone on Easter Sunday
I hope your Easter is as blessed as the day we all became friends.

Carol

He is risen indeed.

I keep "Jesus Calling" in Arizona and "Jesus Always" home.

We did go to service on Holy Saturday and it was so nice, two of our neighbors also attend. Today, we will take off and drive north of Denver for a mid-day meal with daughter & all her family.  Rain and wind is expected this afternoon.

Prayers for all in troubled parts of the world.

Janet

Ellie, thank you for reminding us that our "cyber" friendships are certainly a blessing!
I wish us all a blessed Resurrection Sunday!  HE IS RISEN!  HALLELUJAH!!

Marilyn and Jackie--so happy to read you both ordered "Jesus Calling!"  I'm sure you will never regret it, it's a real blessing.

I ordered the New Living translation Bible for my friend and pray she will really enjoy it.  She has been watching Joel Osteen on TV every morning, and the other day, there was someone else on in his time slot. She thought he had been taken off, but I checked, and he hasn't. She gets so much encouragement from listening to his positive messages, so thought it's time to start reading the Word for herself, but doesn't understand her KJV bible very well.  We have been close friends for over 30 years and I'm always glad to help her in any way I can.

Larry, glad you got a good deal from Comcast!  We are struggling along with YouTube TV and really dislike it.
I can't even find the programs I like, mostly on TBN. Have to ask Darrel to find them for me.  I can no longer read the small print on the TV screen. You are probably about to enjoy your nice Easter dinner with Scott and the girls.  We will go to Diane's and have dinner with them and Abby.  John also says he is coming!

Jackie, you are right!  In the Word, Joseph says to his brothers who had sold him into slavery, after he rose to the second-highest position in Egypt and saved their lives during a terrible famine; What you meant for evil toward me, God has turned into good, to save your lives and all of your families in this time!"  I often think on those words when something bad happens, and wonder expectantly what good thing God is planning to bring from the situation.

We had an early service this morning, followed by a pot luck breakfast.  I have my part of the meal ready to go to Diane's, just had a little time before they will be home from church.

I wish you all a very Blessed Easter!

Hebrews 13:2
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." -Hebrews 13:2

We are called in this verse to be hospitable or friendly to those we don't know. The Bible tells us that some have entertained, or hosted messengers of God, unaware. When we meet strangers, we should be careful how we treat them because it could be someone that was sent by God to help us or protect us. We don't know what God is trying to do or what He is trying to accomplish but we know that it is a part of His good and perfect will.

Greetings Everyone  Please keep the people who passed away, those injured and the families of all those affected by the terrible attacks in Sri Lanka in our thoughts and prayers.

Carol

Good morning from a rainy Colorado.  It is rainy today but Easter Sunday was sunny and cool.  We had a wonderful visit with our daughter and two grandchildren.  One is interested in becoming a pilot and had his first flight over the north area of this state.  We shall see - he is still in school.

This morning I have a little dr. appointment but the annual physical is in April.  We just keep chipping away at the To Do List.

I finished one year bible study and took a break & now there is another one to begin.

Ellie:  Reading the attack in Siri Lanka, it is horrifying and these people are planning more for the future.  I am sad to say that many Americans have put aside their memories of the attacks to the New York towers.  Thank you for the beautiful angel photo.

Larry:  good day to you!

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We are in for several days of sunny and warmer weather with highs in most days in the 80's.  Rain isn't forecast until Friday although things can change in a few days down this way.  We had a nice Easter dinner.  The kids got here around 11 and pitched in an fixed the dinner.  Pat put the hams in the Instant Pot with a glaze on them and the meat turned out very tasty.  She had about 7 pounds of ham in two sliced pieces and rather than hours in the oven it took maybe 25 minutes in the Instant Pot.  We were able to eat in time that Scott could leave at 1 pm and the girls left shortly thereafter and we sort of collapsed for the rest of the day.  Today Pat has our housekeeper coming over to help with some things that taking the dishes out of the China Cabinet and washing them and I don't know what else she has on the list.  These are things the housekeeper doesn't have time for in her normal cleaning visits.  I plan a nice quiet day today with some extra rest as not as peppy as the last couple of days but I did empty the dishwasher for Pat and put here breakfast tray together so things are on schedule.

Janet, hopefully your friend will agree to attend services with you in the near future.  You have obviously been an influence on her as she knew who to ask for the Bible and I am glad she found Joel Osteen a blessing  and influence to her.  Nice to see that John planned to attend  your Easter dinner at Diane's.  Is he doing any better?

Carol, glad you had a nice day with your daughter and two grandchildren.  Our country needs pilots and I hope your grandson's interest will continue. I certainly agree that what happened yesterday in Sri Lanka was terrible and there seems to be no end in sight.

Jackie, thanks for sharing the devotional thoughts around Hebrews 13:2.  I am convinced we have been surrounded by Angels that we often don't recognize nor would they agree but I will never be convinced otherwise.  I read this reading a little while ago in the daily Devotional I receive called "Our Daily Bread".  It is called "Second-Wind Strength" based on Isaiah 40:27-32 by Arthur Jackson:

At the age of fifty-four I entered the Milwaukee marathon with two goals—to finish the race and to do it under five hours. My time would have been amazing if the second 13.1 miles went as well as the first. But the race was grueling, and the second-wind strength I'd hoped for never came. By the time I made it to the finish line, my steady stride had morphed into a painful walk.

Footraces aren't the only things that require second-wind strength—life's race does too. To endure, tired, weary people need God's help. Isaiah 40:27-31 beautifully weds poetry and prophecy to comfort and motivate people who need strength to keep going. Timeless words remind fatigued and discouraged people that the Lord isn't detached or uncaring (v. 27), that our plight doesn't escape His notice. These words breathe comfort and assurance, and remind us of God's limitless power and bottomless knowledge (v. 28).

The second-wind strength described in verses 29-31 is just right for us—whether we're in the throes of raising and providing for our families, struggling through life under the weight of physical or financial burdens, or discouraged by relational tensions or spiritual challenges. Such is the strength that awaits those who—through meditating on the Scriptures and prayer—wait upon the Lord.

Ellie, you are certainly right in your comments about Sri Lanka.  I think I have mentioned before our Church hires an off duty city policeman to be at our Sunday Services and he parks his police cruiser in a very prominent place in our parking lot.  Little towns like ours are certainly not immune from such terrible tradegies.

Kanet the book I ordered is Jesus Calling enjoying peace in His presence. I should be here today. That's what I love about Amazon, the prime membership , free shipping and one or two days until things arrive.

Jackie Hebrews 13:2 has been very significant in my life. There are times when I just "KNOW" that someone was an angel from God.

Janet

Marilyn, that's the book I have, as well.  I also enjoy using Amazon Prime membership. And, like you, and Jackie's post, and Larry's comments, I know I have had protection from angelic forces numerous times in my life.  Beth experienced this, as well.

Larry, glad you had a good Easter with your family. We did, as well, but I really wore out.  I had a nightmare last night and woke Darrel up screaming "HELP".  :o I was dreaming a man was attacking me with a 2x4! Wonder what on earth would cause me to dream such a thing??

There have been more Christians martyred in the past 100 years than in all the years before, since Christendom began.  The devil knows his days are numbered, and is on a rampage, trying to steal, kill and destroy as much and as many as possible in the short time he has left!

I've been to the gym, then home for breakfast; back to town to get car tags, go to bank, PO and make an appointment, and I feel as if I've done a full day's work.  I really want to frame a few of my paintings so I can switch out my display at the gallery with some new things.  I think I will rest a bit and see if I can do that.  I'm not back to nearly my full strength yet, and keep over-estimating how much I can do.  :(

Larry, John seems to be feeling better, for a few days at least.  He was pretty congenial and stayed longer than he usually does after dinner.  My friend is looking forward to getting the new Bible, and I do hope she will go to church with us soon.  Her body is very fragile and lots of chairs are really uncomfortable for her. Our new pews seem pretty comfortable to me, but not sure how they would be for her.  One of her ribs broke a couple weeks ago, she doesn't know how.  She's very bent to the side from Scoliosis, and may weigh 80 pounds!  But she's very determined!  I never met anyone who works harder to try to maintain what she has left!

Carol, glad you had a good time with daughter and grandkids, and made it home safely through the traffic!

Jackie, thanks for the lovely picture and the devotional!

See you lovely folks later!

Thats the book I have coming..." Jesus Calling Enjoying Peace in His Presence...should be here Thursday 25th..It has already been dispatched,  just 3 more days...

Just walked to my kitchen after my above posting, looked out the window  into the back garden, started crying and talking to Richard saying why did we wait so long to get some enjoyment in our life then have it taken away, ( we never had a social life together all the years back home) ... I am wanting answers...why wait so long for some fun in our lives ( our new bingos at two venues, one lunchtime church, the other fortnightly evening our - my disabled society, ) only to start having some fun and enjoyment together, good company, only for it to be taken away from both of us...I am needing answers...why did God do this to us? why would God do this to us?

Richard was my rock, both of us knew, he was all I had....

I'm just crying now, going to pieces, telling Richard " i just want you back, i just want you back."

Pat is at home.  She is working on regaining her strength.  It is a tough go.  She still has a considerable amount of pain.  Continued prayer is appreciated.

Larry all the updates are on the group conversation in CP.

We had a wonderful weekend here in NE Ontario.  On Thursday last week we had the road to our house wash out, the creek overflowed its banks from runoff.  We resigned ourselves to staying home.  When John got up on Friday he saw the township machinery fixing the road.  God is good all the time!  We went to the Good Friday service.  Had a wonderful time there  We only know of one road that is still closed, that is because the water level in the lake beside it has overflowed its banks!I am hoping to get pictures  of that!

I have things to get done, so will close with this

HE IS RISEN, He is Risen indeed!

My Freckles  is going to start acupuncture and cold laser therapy next Tuesday for the L13 and 23 Vertebrae in her back. She is still not to do  a lot of walking up and down these hills. I can walk her on flat ground or at the mall . No jumping and running. I'm taking her with me  when I go anyplace because  if I don;t when I come in the door she is too exceited and do her little dance of raring up on her back legs  and bouncing  until I pet her. Please pray for my dog.

Judy where is the thread that has the updates on Pat

Hi Everyone.  Another beautiful morning here.  This is the day I have sort of been dreading as have to get out and go to the hospital testing area for the ultra sound and then have some blood drawn for tests ordered by the doctor.  Scott is taking me and just texted me saying he was up and would be here shortly.  I have read all of the postings but am just going to have to check in today.

Carol

Quilting group meets tonight and it is up the block this time.  That is great because the city of Denver (full of pot heads) is so difficult to drive in anymore.

Jackie:  Thank you for your talented picture of an angel!

Judy:  Thank you for mentioning Pat!  She is very dear to our hearts.  I hope the weather changes and gives you and everyone a break from rain and flooding damage.

I have a bruised bone and so glad to hear it is just that ---probably from lifting too much.  Giving thanks for that diagnosis.

Tonight, the boys (Don and friends) play cribbage here.

Larry: We wish you well on your tests today.

Hello Rebot:  I hope you are enjoying a beautiful and colorful Spring season.

Now to get the snacks and other things ready for the serious Cribbage game!

Rebot

Greetings Larry We think you might well be at the Hospital already.  Best wishes for your tests today.

Greetings Carol  The Isle of Man like most of the United Kingdom is having a splendid warm and sunny spell of weather. Do you listen to popular music?   If you do there is a song by Paul Simon called, 'Call me Al".  Or in my case 'Call me Ellie".

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  I was just about ready to hit the posting button and my finger hit some key and I lost my posting.  It is a beautiful morning, bright and clear and will be in the high 80's again today.  My tests went well yesterday with most of the time involved was registering and waiting to be called.  I was gone for 2 hours but it really left me tired.

The Dish Tech has been here and gone.  He worked very quickly installing the new equipment and getting everything working.  The old equipment is now in the process of transferring the recordings that Pat had saved to the new equipment.  The old Hopper would hold up to 200 hours of recording on 3 channel while this new one will do 500 hours on 16 channels.  The transfer process may take a day or longer so they will be sending me a box with a prepaid label to return the old equipment when the transfer is complete.

Scott will be here late this afternoon and friends from my Sunday School class are bringing us the Wednesday night dinners from the Church.  The told the girls they could eat out and then come on over and we would reimburse them for the cost of their meals.  This way Pat wouldn't have to do any cooking today.

Carol, glad your quilting group didn't require you to get out on the busy and risky highway.  I haven't had a cribbage group to play with since I retired but it has always been one of my favorite games having played it since I was a child.  I have my grandfathers old ivory inlaid cribbage board that folds in half, including the ivory pegs.  When I want to play it now I just just an online game site. Snacks are important for such gatherings.  I hope your bone bruise won't be too painful for very long.  At our ages we need not be lifting anything heavy.

Ellie, my tests yesterday went well and took only a few minutes.  We were gone two hours and came home exhausted and rested most of the afternoon and then went to bed for the night around 6:30 pm.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Thanks for the information regarding your tests yesterday.  I retired a little later than you, at 1.30am!

Carol

I had a wonderful visit with the quilting group last night.  They are experts - and their work is priceless and award winning.  Why they keep me, I'll never know.   :) Don lost at cribbage but the visiting with pals is priceless.

Larry:  Your family cribbage board is a treasure.  Does Scott play Cribbage?

Hello Rebot:  I do listen to some pop and oldie music, some favorite Christian music, and lots of the classics from Italy. Also, Sissel (she is from Norway) and she sings with Josh Groban.  Love the tenors from 4 different countries.  And, since we live in Colorado - some of John Denver.   It makes housework go faster.  Yes, I like the talented Paul Simon.  I'll look into "Call me Al"  - thanks Ellie.

It is a fine morning here only hours after a cold freeze yesterday. Some trees are blooming.  There is heavy snow in the Rocky Mountains and predictions for avalanche and floods when melting begins.

We had to buy a laptop computer for Don as his not-so-old one stopped working completely.  Electronics can be so frustrating.

I wanted to go to the last bible study this morning - they break for a long summer.  However, a medical incident happened to Don and he did get it under control in the wee hours of the morning.  Hallelujah!

Rebot

Greetings Carol  I like Josh Groban and John Denver and the late Glen Campbell.  Not heard of Sissel, though I will look on YouTube as there will be videos of her.  And I love listening to my favourite hymns.  Ellie

I have never done this before but I found myself reading from the Bible ( New International Version ) when I went to bed last night...I started at the New Testament..Matthew ( the genealogy of Jesus ) I only managed two pages before I turned off the light..

Some more good news...my ordered book by Sarah Young (Jesus Calling-Enjoying Peace in His Presence ) arrived through my letterbox this morning...

Greetings Everyone  The sunny and warm weather we have had for the past week has changed to cooler weather with showery rain.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Our skies are overcast at the moment but expect a combination of sun and clouds during the day with it getting up close to 90 this afternoon.  Nothing planned for today other than rest as can hardly hold my head up this morning.  It might have something to do with my low blood pressure this morning of 80/52.  We did have a nice visit with Scott last night and he will be back late this afternoon.  The girls didn't come out as Jennifer has been suffering with migraine headaches and said she had a sore throat so was glad she didn't bring that out.

Carol, I like the same type of music as you indicated.  I particularly like Irish Tenors and Piano music as well as instrumental music.  I most often listen to music here in my office during the morning hours and sometimes while I am laying down. It seems computers don't last too long anymore but I always enjoy getting a new one as it is usually faster and somewhat better than the last one.  I hope Don is feeling better today from his medical incident yesterday.

Ellie, Josh Groban is also one of my favorites and I have found several other tenors with beautiful voices who are not as well known here in the USA.  I also know of Sissel and have a play list made of her recording that are available on Spotify.

Jackie, I am thrilled that you have picked up your Bible and read a couple of pages.  Matthew is a good place to start as it tells us about Jesus and his life and death for us.  Sometimes I enjoy going to the Bible Gateway website and having the Bible read out loud while I follow along.  It sure helps on some of the difficult names.    I hope the Sarah Young book will spur you on for more Bible reading.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  If you look at YouTube, do listen to a UK chap called Paul Potts and one of Kelly's favourites Kathryn Jenkins.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We are supposed to have a cloudy and light rain morning and then this afternoon it is to clear out and we will have some wind.  We will get only into the high 70's today.  Yesterday was another lost day for me in that I was up only 2 hours in the morning and then 3 hours around supper time.  I wasn't sleeping during this time but too weary to stay up and spent the hours with my eyes closed and listening to my audio book.  I am hoping today will be better but still pretty weary.  I plan on spending 2 hours here in my office as have some things that I would like to get done or at least start on.  I don't have anything I need to leave the house for until next Tuesday when I have another doctor's appointment.  Scott was here again yesterday afternoon late and spent a few hours with us.  He helped his mother in the kitchen in fixing the mac and cheese with ham in the Instant Pot and it was delicious.

Ellie, I have made myself a not to check out the two names you mention on YouTube.  I don't spend much time on YouTube.

Carol

Good sunny but cool morning here.  I'll take it so gratefully.  Grateful that our first grand to get a big girl job will begin at the end of the month.  She even negotiated a bit of time before she starts and a bit more raise - graduates University in Fort Collins first.

It was good news for the family after so much sad news  -

Ellie: I wrote the singer's names and will check very soon. Thank you.

Yesterday, I baked a loaf of gluten-free bread - it looks wonderful - it is tasteless.

We (and most of the church meet for coffee at Panera.  They told me Panera (here) was closed on Easter.  There is a Christian group that bought out Panera.  So, we have Kneaders and that is closed on Sundays always & I don't know yet if this Panera is closed every Sunday.

Things are changing....isn't it nice to have some good news?

Carol

Larry:  It is very nice to "see" you this morning.  Scott is a good son to you and Pat.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  It is cool on the Isle of Man today with a strong breeze and heavy rain this morning.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  Let me know what you think of the two singers I mentioned, I do like Paul Potts and I wonder why hubby likes Kathryn Jenkins  :)

Marilyn

Good Morning good to see a post from Larry today. I pray you will get through the day doing what you had planned.

Today is the Hospice Volunteers Appreciation luncheon at the casino. There will be  some drawing for prizes that another volunteer and I  put in beautiful packaging. I plan to have the stuffed chicken, last year I had the salmon, there will also be Pasta Primavera for those who do not eat meat.

Carol sorry you gluten free bread came out so beautiful and yet tasteless.Have you tried coconut flour?, that might change the taste a bit.

Ellie, I wanted to come back this morning and tell you I am listening to Paul Potts singe in Spotify and will set up a play list as there is a lot of his music available.  Nessun Dorma is one of my favorite arias and have listened to it many time over the years.  I have heard of Kathyn Jenkins but I find I don't have a playlist for her either so will also check her out.

Carol, congratulations to your granddaughter in getting her first job after college. I am glad you have had some good news.  I have a good friend who can't eat anything with gluten in it and I agree gluten free bread isn't very appealing although many places now have it.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Glad to hear you have found Paul Potts music.  Hope you find something for Kathryn Jenkins as well.  Very stormy on the Island last night, with strong winds and heavy rain.

Carol

It is sunny and a cool Colorado morning. Local news is all about the truck driver who came down the mountain at very high speed (90 mph)driving on the right side shoulder of the highway.  He then hit so many cars and killed at least 4 people and many burn victims. He was arrested for Homicide. Prayers for all the families.

Marilyn, this was a good brand mix and I will try some more recipes.  We can get different flour in bins. This was almond flour.  Thanks

Ellie:  I listened to both singers via ALEXA and Paul Potts reminds me of Josh Groban.  Very nice and clear voice for Katheryn Jenkins as well.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  Sad news about the loss of life and injuries with truck going at high speeds.  As you say, prayers for the families.

Glad you heard both singers.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We are going to have a gorgeous day here in South Carolina with clear skies and a high into the low 80's.  It was so nice yesterday that I spend an hour or more sitting on our front porch yesterday afternoon as it was in the mid to high 70's with a nice wind.  I did have a good day yesterday and hope for the same today although my shower and getting dressed left me very weary and by the time I got to the kitchen I couldn't keep my head up again until I sat down and rested.  Pat mentioned getting a hair cut today and if I am up to it I may go with her as I sure need a haircut.

Ellie, I did enjoy Paul Potts and am listening to Kathryn Jenkins now as I write.  Her voice reminds me very much of my last choir director who was a soloist for many years with Atlanta Symphony Chorus and sang all over the world with Robert Shaw. She was our choir director for 14 years and I will never know how our small church was so fortunate to her.  It was always a joy to attend choir practice and then sing with the choir on Sundays.  Sure glad you didn't blow away last night.

Carol, I saw on the news last night the terrible fire from that wreck.  He should have been arrested.  I thought it was illegal to drive on the shoulder of the highway plus he was obviously driving too fast.  So many lives lost.  I saw it was last night before that section of I-70 was reopened.  So many lives lost and lives forever impacted with burns and other injuries.  Pat is now using almond milk in place of other milk.

Jackie, I am concerned about you as you haven't posted for awhile.  I expect you have been very busy and are exhausted.  I hope you have started eating and getting some proper rest.

Larry Hanna, I am here...(((hugs)))

Seems like our S&Fs site is down...if not, I cant get in...

Edited to add, just looked at Richards bedroom calendar and only just noticed he had written Petra on it, the day she died, Petra was my dog who I lost on an Easter Saturday but Richard had written the exact date which uncannily was the same day-date Richard died 11th April...So not only did I lose my Petra (10 years ) ago April 11th, but April 11th was also the same date I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, just 4 years separating them..I am going to remember that date for the rest of my life and all for the sad reasons...

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. Just checking in today.  I am too weary to sit at my desk very long.

Carol

Larry: I hope and pray that you can have a restful day.

I am back from the early (7:30 AM) chapel service with friends at the huge church.  Don prefers the Saturday early evening service where we are members.  So, I often go to two churches on weekends and the mid-week bible study but that is over until Fall.

Yesterday was spent on trying to fix problems with my old Singer featherweight.  Almost. Don has been trying to fix the computer and it is not working well.  It is just that way sometimes.

Beef stew will be tonight's supper.  Hopeful that the snow melt this year will be slow and safe - no avalanches.  The mountains are beautiful with all that snow but dreadful when everything melts too fast.

Jacqueline

Ellie...
...yes it was back up and running soon after I posted it was down...Thank you and bless you for keeping me in your prayers..I am still very much needing our God's help...

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day but suppose to hit 90 degrees this afternoon.  I spent about 20 hours laying in bed yesterday and still had a good nights sleep.  I still don't feel very rested this morning but am determined to be up more today.  Pat said she wants to get a haircut today and if I feel up to it I will go along and get mine cut as well as I am beginning to look pretty shabby.  That is all that is on the schedule for today other than resting.

Carol, it is very frustrating when machines don't work as they are suppose to.

Jackie, you are always in my daily prayers.

Hi Everyone. I see that no one posted since I did yesterday but I want to check in this morning.  I have an 11:30 routine annual appointment with lung doctor.  Scott will be here to take me.  Yesterday in trying to disconnect the old Dish box from the new I did something that caused us not to get television  from the Dish signal.  Scott will fix that when he gets here as those things are things he likes to do.  The boxes were on the floor and I tried to search out the problem but can no longer get down on the floor and gave up.  Pat and I had our audiobooks to listen to.  The only thing we missed seeing that we would like to have seen in Jeopardy to see if the very brilliant man won again yesterday.  I know when I get home I will crash and spend some time in bed as I didn't get a wink of sleep last night.  No particular reason but just one of those night I couldn't get to sleep regardless of what I tried.

Greetings Larry  We hope you get your television programmers back on line. Though, not having television for a day is not a bad thing.  We can get rather reliant on the on our TV sets!

Freckles will be getting her first laser treatment and acupuncture this afternoon. I hope this will help her to be free from pain and not have to take the  carprofen pills.

Hello!!  Has anyone missed me? My computer has been turned off and unplugged for about two weeks, because I had a horrible hacker!  In the process, I had a good deal of money stolen through a credit card, and lots of other bad stuff.  My grandson Curtis finally had time to come by this morning, and spent an hour cleaning it up and disabling stuff they had attached.  :ticked:   Why can't people who have enough intelligence to do such things go get an honest job?   >:(

Anyway, I'm back.  Still having a lot of pain through chest and back from that fall in France.  They thought I had COPD, but I said NO, I DON'T!  Now they think I bruised my lung, as well as my sternum and ribs. If I'm still having pain when we get home from Florida, they want to do a CT scan.  Plan is to leave Monday to go to Florida to visit grandson Mark, returning on the 18th.

I have read all the post from when computer was disabled.

Jackie, good for you!  I love reading the Word, and I think the little Jesus Calling book will also encourage you.  Keep going!  We are proud of you!

Larry, glad your tests went well, and I know it tired you out.  Prayers continue!

Marilyn, hope Freckles feels better!

Ellie, I do not recognize any of the singers, but am sure I would enjoy them.

Larry, did you get your hair cut?  Yes that fellow won again yesterday, but it was much closer than it's been before for him!  He is amazing, isn't he?  Such fun to watch!

Our housekeeper is here, and I need to do a few things, even though my body wants to lie down.  :(  I'm certainly happy to be back in touch!  I managed to read some posts on my iPad, but I couldn't post.

Greetings Janet I share your thoughts on hackers!  Why don't they use the expertise they have and put it to goo use, instead of making people lives a misery, by breaking into their computers and taking peoples hard earned money.

Hope the discomfort eases for you.

Janet...
... just a question, I have been reading from the Bible at night before I go to sleep, i am reading from the New Testament Matthew...I haven't started on the little Jesus Calling devotional book yet apart from the first few pages about Sarah Young's journey...So my question is...do I read just one page at a time of her devotional readings? and if so as I guess I do, do I start reading the one that corresponds to our actual date? even if this starts from four months into the book, again I am assuming this is exactly what I do...

Hi Everyone. It is already 74 degrees here this morning and we are headed up around 90 degrees this afternoon.  I did have a great nights sleep last night and didn't even get up to have my Camomile tea.  However, this morning things went downhill quickly when I tried to stand up and slid off the bed onto the floor.  I was too close to the edge of the bed and when I started to slip off the bed my  cotton socks on the wooden floor got no traction and the next thing I knew I was on the floor.  I tried and tried to get up but no strength in my legs.  I finally got on my knees but didn't have the strength in either my arms or legs and we finally called Scott, who was here in a few minutes.  He got behind me and just picked me up.  Once I was on my feet I was OK.  Nothing broken but sure going to have a sore tail bone and sure I am going to have some sore arm and leg muscles as well.  We have already made some changes to see this doesn't happen again including putting down a bathroom rug at the side of the bed and I will no longer wear cotton socks to bed but some of those you get in the hospital with the little rubber dots on the bottom.  I realize I must start an  exercise program.  I printed out instructions for me sometime ago.

Another friend from Sunday School stopped by yesterday and brought us a good main dish, which we had for our dinner last evening and enough left over for another meal.  She also brought out some fresh strawberries from our local strawberry farm. More importantly she sit down and visited with us for a few minutes, which is always enjoyable.

I had a few things in mind I wanted to accomplish this morning but will probably modify my plan as I used up so much energy all ready.  This was suppose to be Scott's day off from work but while he was here his boss called and asked him to come in and work this morning until around 2 pm.  Later this evening he will stop by Walmart and pick up Pat's online grocery order and come over and have dinner with us and spend a little time.  I am sure he won't stay long as will have had a busy day.  He should  be able to get a few hours rest this afternoon.  He should have tomorrow off but that remains to be seen.

Ellie, Scott was here yesterday morning and in just a couple of minutes got the TV working.  I had pulled a couple of the connections out of the wall trying to get the old Dish receiver ready to send back and I tried to get things plugged in but didn't have the strength to get where I needed to plug in.  Scott did take me to the lung doctor yesterday for the routine visit and I don't have to go back for another year.  No more appointments until a week from today and the following week have two appointments.  Pat also has an appointment tomorrow.

Marilyn, how did Freckles do with his treatments yesterday.

Janet, on our local news last night was an interview with the head of the Georgia Bureau of investigation who said the hacker crimes was their biggest problem in the State.  Your credit card company should remove those fraudulent charges.  Glad you are back on line.  It sounds like you will have a long recovery period from you fall.  Sorry that pain and discomfort will accompany you to Florida but at least you should be able to get some needed rest while away.  I saw the fellow on Jeopardy last night and he won another $90,000 plus.  I feel sorry for the other contestants and they don't fair well.  Glad you are able to write to us and hope you will have access to a computer while you are gone.

Jackie, I am sure Janet will answer your questions on the daily readers.

The one plus of my fall this morning was to get my bottom number for the blood pressure above 60 for the first time is quite a few days.  It is obvious to me from how much I have written that I am a bit hyper this morning.

Greetings Larry Just a short post as I need to catch up on computer work, regarding house accounts.  Splendid hubby had the full Microsoft Office set up, as Excel is superb!

Sorry to hear of you slipping on the bed, hope not too much discomfort for you.

Carol

Weather changed from spring-time to winter while I was at church for the pot-luck feast and last bible program until next fall.  The temperature has dropped about 20 degrees and was I ever glad to get in the car to drive home - staying indoors today.

Larry:  Sorry about your painful fall.  Falls can come as such a surprise and no easy feat to get off the floor.  It sounds like you two plus Scott are doing all the good safety drills in your home.

Janet - for some reason I have always detested thieves and don't even like watching a movie about those awful people.  Sorry for your having extra work.  You best see a doctor to have everything checked out - take care.

Jackie, I am so pleased that you have begun to read the Word of God.  You won't ever regret that, for sure!  I have heard several people, much wiser than I, thru the years, advice those new to the Word, to start reading in the Book of John, but Matthew is good, as well.  As you go, you will notice some things are repeated in Mark, Luke and John, that you read in Matthew.  This is because the four Gospels, as those four books are known, were written by men who walked and talked with Jesus on his earthly journey. And just as any four people today would tell the story from the way they personally remember it, so did Matthew, Mark, Luke and John!  I'm just telling you this so you won't get confused as a new reader.  :)  ;)

About the little book, Jesus Calling--yes, just turn to the date on your calendar and begin reading there--one little page a day!  That book reminds me of pecan pie, as it is so rich it only takes that one little page to give us a lot to think about.  And thank you for asking!
Never hesitate to ask questions!  The only wrong question is the one you don't ask!  I'm praying the blessing of enlightenment and understanding as you begin this exciting journey!

Larry, so sorry about your "slip-down" this morning, so glad you didn't fall hard!  You have safety measures figured out already, and that's good.  So glad you can call on Scott for help!  I guess getting your blood pressure up some is a good thing for you, but now let's see if we can find safer ways to do that!

It's so good to be back online.  In today's world, these things just get more and more common.  Thieves looking for easy money, and older people are their favorite targets!  I won't leave home again without totally disconnecting my computer, by unplugging it and also turning off the wifi.  :clobber:

Carol, I hate thieves, too.  If someone asks me, I am glad to help them, but nobody likes to be stolen from nor made to feel like a fool.  :-\  I hope I will be much more wary and diligent in future!  And never forget the lesson I have learned.

I have been having more and more pain in my chest and back from that fall, it's been keeping me awake at night.  So I called the NP I have been seeing again this morning, and she ordered a CT Scan of my chest.  That was the first one I've ever had.  If I don't hear from her tomorrow, I'm to call her.  I just didn't want to go to Florida with something bothering me that much, but still plan to go, as this is the fourth time we have planned this trip and bought the tickets; the tickets are non-refundable and I sure don't want to have to cancel again and lose still more money.  Money isn't
the most important thing in life, but it sure makes it easier to live!

I went to the Artery today after the scan, but didn't even get out my paints.  I just looked at books and visited, ate lunch with them and came home early and took a nap.  Not myself at all.  ???

We are going to church soon for the final dinner of the season, which is hamburgers and hotdogs.  Then will make an early evening of it.

Love and best wishes to all of you!
