JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

From Chris Saunders

"Let the word of God dwell in you richly, in all Wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another, in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual songs, singing with Grace in your hearts to the Lord " Coll. 3.

This is our way of Life, studying the word so that it becomes part of us, so that the Holy Spirit can get us to understand it, we are told in Proverbs to " get wisdom and with Wisdom get understanding." There are many people in this world who take in knowledge like a sponge, but they don't know how to use it.
Only God the Holy Spirit can enlighten a believer.
To teach and admonish one another is the way for all to grow in knowledge, understanding and grace.
Singing to God and to each other is as natural to the believer as breathing, I feel very sad about people moving their lips in a fellowship and nothing coming out, they never seem fully free.
God bless you.

Janet

Oldiesman:  Sorry about your car situation.
I surely hope you have good insurance!  Keep us posted, Please.

Judy:
Thanks for the beautiful song Beauty of Jesus.  I needed to hear that today!

We are leaving Saturday on another trip.  I am struggling with physical problems, which I am surely NOT used to.  Praying for patience and endurance while these issues are sorted, and for the Lord's healing power to be shown in my mortal body.

I had November's topic started in October.  I went to move it here, and "lost" the post.  I had a brainwave in bed last night and just had to move it to its correct place today.  Sorry folks.

Our beginning of winter weather has started. Flurries, rain, ice, and the rest of winter weather has been our daily menu.

We have a new family member.  A small furry grey kitten we have called Smokey.  He is cute, 10 weeks old, and a fan with all the other fur babies!

I will close for now have a great evening folks.

Marilyn

Good Morning everyone. I went to bed at 7:15 last night and slept in a deep sleep until 3am, I sure needed that sleep, Although I didn't get up until 4:30 and found that Keith was already up sitting in  the dark in front of the little electric heater. I was on my feet too much yesterday.

A cousin and wife from Minnesota are coming - they will stay with another cousin while here but I will bring part of a meal when we visit.  I would like them to stay here and they have already made other travel plans so we will go see them for a day trip.

Janet

I'm home again!  We had a lovely cruise to Panama Canal, nice to be pampered for ten days, but OUCH! when I weighed myself this morning!  Now I have an additional six pounds to lose! :-\

Most exciting thing we did was swim with the stingrays near Grand Cayman Island.  And we have the photos to prove it!  Ha.

Glad to be home, but there really hasn't been much activity here since I left.  Our group seems so small now....I still miss many who are no longer with us.

I miss them too. Maybe Nita and Jane will post now and then. Welcome home Janet you were also missed.

Thank you, Marilyn.  When is your surgery?

Two cousins and their husbands are coming for dinner tomorrow and I am looking at recipes.

Welcome home, Janet!  Swimming with Stingrays - it sounds cautious for sure. Never step on a scale after a vacation.  ;)

Marilyn

Janet I had the first surgery on Nov. 2st. My stitches will come out the 18th.  I still have a lot of pain when I walk which is not much walking. The incision is on the side if my foot just above the heel. Then he went into the heel and cut the Plantar Facscia. The right foot will have to wait until after Christmas because as you know I go to California for Christmas every year. Keith will not be going again this year and a friend is going with me but will visit her friends in Arcata while I go on to Eureka. The caregiver is supposed to come to make sure Keith eats and takes his meds.

I baked an angel food cake and prepared half of tomorrows meal--- only to talk to Minnesota cousin and they are stuck at the little airport because of storms.  So - we will just have to wait and see if there is any time to get together.

Watching hockey & will check on grandson in a few minutes.  This is his senior year.

So quiet in here - Marilyn, I hope you can walk better soon.

Carol

The Minnesota weather turned stormy enough so cousin's plane was so late that they couldn't get together here.  Luckily, I had only baked the cake so there is enough ham and vegetables for another meal - this time with neighbors.

I have a tooth being crowned today - very  nice that the dentist is not charging because she put in that crown a few years ago and it is out of place.  So glad that I did not change dentists.  Our oldest son is coming for a visit now for a few days.  It is snowing at home and one son is starting a new job tomorrow.

Rebot

Greetings Carol    The weather on the Isle of Man is now into the winter, strong winds the past week or two I am told, with also rainy days.

I had to ask about the past weeks weather as we have been on a cruise holiday.  Very enjoyable.  Though with hubby in a wheelchair, a lot of work for me.  It is not easy for hubby to travel, with help before we leave and on the Liner.  Hubby insists we holiday together, and he is right.  Ell

Janet

Marilyn, I hope your foot feels much better after the stitches are removed, so you will be more comfortable traveling to California.  I'm still in pain with my "glutius maximus" and can hardly sit; but being on my feet causes me to have pain in lower back.  I started therapy on Tuesday, which will continue three times a week until Dec. 13.  First session really did a number on me!
I was exhausted!  But if it helps, it will be worth it.

Today is very busy, as tonight is our church's big Thanksgiving dinner at the Civic Center.  This is a fund raiser and all profits go to Missions.  I volunteered for too many jobs and now I'm regretting it.  I guess if I get to hurting too much, I will just have to stop!

Carol, sorry your company couldn't make it.  Travels are often interrupted by things, and we just have to 'go with the flow' as it doesn't do any good to fuss or fret.  Glad your new crown won't be costing you.

Ellie, we just returned from a cruise, too, and there were so many people using wheelchairs, walkers, and motorized chairs.  It's good they can go on cruises, as there's little way they could travel otherwise.  I know it is tiring for the companion, as my daughter was in a wheelchair for years and I was her "motor."

I'm off to set out the donated books for the bazaar at the big dinner tonight.

Carol

So few replying in here and I "see" three people are looking at this site.  Come in and let us know a bit about you.  This is a friendly group - good for the soul.

Rebot: Where did you cruise?  I am glad to read that all went well - with us,I do all the listening and talking especially if someone has an accent.  It is a daily experience we can laugh about at times.

Janet: Hopefully, you will find relief.

Don is about to take some chiropractor appointments to see if that will help.  He will most likely have spinal surgery at some point - it can't come fast enough.  He goes to the VA and they have criteria he meets for the surgery - it is a matter of doctor's decision.

Our eldest son is flying into the Tucson airport and we will pick him up to stay for several days.  Tomorrow, I have two cousins and spouses coming for lunch so there will be 7 in total. Weather looks mild enough to eat outdoors - hallelujah!  Today, I have a pot of vegetable soup cooking for our meal.  Tomorrow is a ham, salad, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and if they want ice cream that is ready.

An older 2nd. cousin called me yesterday to tell me his wife had died.  Actually, she died a couple of years ago - I am sure his daughter knows his situation now - it made me feel so sad.  He is such a sweet man.

Janet:  It is so nice to have a book sale - a lot of the Christian self-help books are so  expensive.  My little group of faithful friends shares books and they each gave me one of their bible study favorites for my birthday.  That is what I asked for - it is really nice and so peaceful to the heart reading one daily study per day.

Well, I wasn't going to mention it again.  The javelinas are such pests and they are frequenting our back yard - destroying what they can.  They like the Acorn tree area and that is next to our bed.  So, I was yelling at them to go away when Don told me half the neighborhood could hear me....they do not pay attention and are too dangerous to go near.  They carry so many germs that when bitten a person has to get to the hospital.

Looking forward to several days of visiting with son and cousins.   Take care all!

Greetings Janet  Where did your cruise go, meaning in which ports did you stop. We noticed also many wheelchairs, mobility scooters, rollators.

It is tiring for companions, though we are classed as carers.  As it happens, it takes an awful lot out of hubby.  But he  told me a few years ago, it is not about what he cannot do, but what he can do.  I admire him for that.

This has been a snowy month fo us, with a lot of driving to do.  We have our family Christmas in a month at Dous home.  I am looking forward to that. It is always good to get together with family.

We are still waiting for the rest of our hay to be picked up. It has been spoken for, however the money that it will bring in covers the cost of wood.  Now it is November all the local suppliers of wood are done, they have none left.  This domino effect has left us wondering what next.  As John was discussing this with Doug this song came to mind.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijytLs96yig

I hope you can listen to that. It really brought peace to me.

HAve a wonderful weekend everyone!

JudyB

Good Day everyone, It seems no one has been here for a few days.  We have at last got mild temperatures. Tomorrow we have doctors appointments, and running around to do. Then the next day taking down trees. We have dead trees that we need to deal with, so now is the time.

It seems that these days people and families have a lot of unspoken prayer requests. I have 2 family issues, our Lord knows.  Just know I pray for your families as well that God would move in their lives.

Well I must go, if you come in to read, leave a comment, message, or Just say Hello!

Carol

Thunder in the background,it announces 4 days of rain in the Arizona desert.  That always means flooding in low spots and every year a few people think they can drive through what they believe is low water only to be rescued and shown on t.v.

I have been trying to fit a tooth guard - it is to stop my habit of grinding my teeth while sleeping. What an ordeal try to get this to work - hopeful it will work this time.

Our oldest son went to the airport yesterday and we all drove there at 4:15 AM.  He could get a connection in Denver and save a 7 hour wait by getting there early.  Honestly, we were really nervous about driving here because there are laws against too much lighting in Tucson (all for space gazing) and did we every scan the streets.  The Lord was in control!  We came back here and slept for a long time and never did feel good all day. Today is another day though - Don tried a chiropractor this morning and will see how this goes with his spinal pain.  I think he will have to have nerves cauterized.

Judy - Prayers for good answers to your needs - especially wood supply.  Are you knitting anything?

thank you JUDY for the wonderful spirit filled song!

It is raining Cats & Dogs --- truly there will be flooding in low areas. Thankful we made it back here in time.

Janet

Sorry I have missed several days!  I haven't been getting my email notices again.

Another busy day, but not as much as others to follow.  I'm going to go paint and just relax as much as I can.  I'm taking therapy three times a week now for the pain in my "sitter" but so far, I can't tell there is any improvement.  These spinal things really do a number on you!

Judy, good luck with getting in your winter's supply of wood!  And thanks for the you tube version of God Will Take Care of You.  I do love the old songs of the faith!

Carol, sorry that Don is having so much misery with his back.  Mine is minor compared to his, but it sure makes things harder and wears me out.

At our church Thanksgiving dinner fundraiser for missions, we served 947 meals!!  And sold almost everything at the bazaar.  Will get the total amount raised at our next Women's meeting.  We were all thrilled to have such a good turnout.  Our town is good about supporting things like this.

Marilyn, I hope your foot is improving daily!

Ellie, we stopped in Cartagena Columbia, Jamaica, (Yeah, Mon!) Limon, Costa Rica, and Grand Cayman.

Carol, I hope the floods don't do your property harm.  Is it bad to say I hope it drowns a bunch of those awful javelinas?

I must get busy and get my stuff together for painting!

You all have a wonderful, God-filled day!

Our oldest son left here two days ago.  It has taken us two days to recover from that drive to the airport in the dark and all the visiting with friends & family.  Thanksgiving is coming up much too fast.

Janet:  So sorry for your spinal pain.  Don had a short time of relief after chiropractor work on the first visit.  He will take another appointment in a few days.   ;D about your mentioning javelinas - they are so detested around here but  protected.  Nasty attitude too.  Did you bring back some exotic spices from your trip?

Judy:  Thank you for your lovely song.  Very soothing to the soul.

I wish  could walk the way I used too and I will when my foot is completely healed. The Dr said we are also waiting for the complete healing to do the other foot.

Freckles just left for her walk, Thank goodness for my  neighbor and friend.  I fired the caregiver yesterday, She has had one excuse after another why she couldn't come in the days she specified she would. She had only been here 4 times since we got back from Kauai in June.  I have hired someone I have known  for a long timer, whom I used to work with at the Clinic. She took care of my other dogs and house when we would go on vacation for afew years.

I have seen some progression in Keith of the disease.  He has good days though and I look forward to those days. Other days  what can I say. He has taken to wearing his hat that I crocheted for him and his gloves all day long until I tell him to take them off to eat or go to bed.

Janet sending along healing prayers to you. I have had back and spinal problems all my life having scoliosis since I was 12. Many different chiropractors and many visits. The curvature in my spine is only noticeable if I don' have my back covered. My mother was always telling me to stand up strainght and I kept telling the that I can't, she finally gave up telling me.

I am trying for find a restaurant that will create a TG dinner for us to either vbe delivered or that I can go pick up. I don't feel like cooking this year and I  don't want to take Keith someplace where he isn't comfortable being or that will cause others to stare at him. We still go to Friday night dinners at Los Dos Amigos in the mall. I just want to protect him from any perceived ridicule.

I jhad finally decided that I will  cook
Thanksgiving dinner  myself. When I called the restaurant they told me it would be $30. per person for the dinner. Yikes! I won't cost e that much for the fixin's. So my friend Jo will go shop[ping for me in the next couple of days.

Cooking at home is best anyway - love the aroma from the turkey and all the leftovers to cool or freeze.

Rebot:  Do you ever eat turkey?  I am glad that at least our country still has one day set aside to be thankful.

Oh my lots of typos in my post. Sorry about that

Marilyn, I rarely use the Quick Reply, and I always edit my posts, and still I find mistakes.  We know what you mean so don't worry about the typos...we don't!

I think my fingers have gained weight or something!!  Must be some reason why I get all these double letters I didn't intend!  ;D

Yikes!  $60 for two people is  pretty pricy!  I have only ever eaten in a restaurant on Thanksgiving one time.  We went to Amarillo to visit Darrel's sister and mom.  They hadn't wanted to cook, so took us out, and it surely wasn't the same, neither the food or the ambiance.  Home cooking is best, and like you, Carol, I love the aromas and the leftovers!  But it is a huge job for only one cook. At least it feels that way now that I'm getting older.   :-\   I'm so thankful my first daughter lives only 30 miles away, and always shares the cooking, whether at my house, hers, or her son's!  Thank God for Daughters!!

I have two or three appointments every day through Wednesday! Yikes!
When am I going to get pies baked, etc?  (I;m sure I will find a way!

Carol, thanks.  I spoke to my chiropractor and he assures me he can help.  I have an app't for first treatment (for this!) tomorrow. I cannot understand why on earth the state wants to protect those nasty javelinas!!  Someone should dump a herd of them by their houses, bet they would change their tune!  If they would let them be hunted, some people would have meat, and they would never be extinct, either!  The javelinas, not the hunters,  ;)

I'd better get busy, time is fleeting!

I'm popping to share with Carol that a woman has been attacked and killed by feral hogs in Texas!!  She was caregiver to an elderly couple; arrived at work between 6 and 5:36 AM, exited locked her car, and was attacked.  But in Texas, if feral hogs are on your land, you are allowed to destroy them "by any means possible!"  Arizona needs to follow suit!

I'm sad because my cat is dying.  We will have to put her down soon.

Time for lunch, see you!
