JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

From Chris Saunders

Reading about the Armour in Ephesians Ch. 6 always makes me think of Nahum ch.2 -7.
"The Lord is good....a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who trust in Him.,"

He is good...an unbreakable statement..your stronghold in the day of trouble...promised safekeeping...He knows you.
What more do you need, it's all here for you, if you don't take what God freely offers you, then you only have yourself to blame!

Ephesians 6:10-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

God Bless you and keep you.

Have you ever gone to bed singing within your spirit?  I have a lot lately, Last night I was late to bed (actually early this morning) and a hymn I know well was filling my mind till I drifted off to sleep.  I was determined to remember which hymn it was, however daylight and busyness had other ideas.  This hymn is one I sing often as it reminds me of the day Pat sang it for her wedding to Jack.

Take My Life and Let it Be

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1,2

I went for a little visit of five days (to Areley House). There were ten persons in the house, some unconverted and long prayed for, some converted, but not rejoicing Christians. He gave me the prayer, "Lord, give me all in this house!" And He just did.

Before I left the house every one had got a blessing.

The last night of my visit after I had retired, the governess asked me to go to the two daughters. They were crying.  Then and there both of them trusted and rejoiced; it was nearly midnight. I was too happy to sleep, and passed most of the night in praise and renewal of my own consecration; and these little couplets formed themselves, and chimed in my heart one after another till they finished with "Ever, Only, ALL for Thee!"

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Judy...
...food for thought, yes i like that, quoting: ...

" if you don't take what God freely offers you, then you only have yourself to blame!"

...yes so true, one does not realise what we have turned down, missed out on, until our day is over, then it is too late...And how many other chances will our God give us?...

Greetings Everyone  It turned out a wet day on the Island, but dry now at Wednesday, 12.40am.  Splendid seeing your post Jackie.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  Not sure why my font has gone sooo much smaller.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  Instead of mentioning the weather where we live, we both were saddened to read of the loss of life and hurricane damage in the Bahamas.  Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones and those without a home to go to.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone  Only a short post, as going to a meeting tonight and lots to resarch and print out.  Ell

Good Morning folks!  A beautiful day here in NEastern Ontario. Sun is shining, and cooler than tis summer.  I have lawns to mow, and gardens to clean out of some weeds.  We had our first frost last night, and our house is cool so it is sweater time.  John hasn't been able to ather wood this year, he would up being too busy with hay then helping a friend by driving a water truck on a construction site.

God is good, he is meeting our needs, and keeping us healthy.

I better get going at the grass!

Carol

Judy:  I love your last sentence/  God is good and all our needs are met.

It is still over the top HOT here but I think of the powerful hurricane pounding away at homes and families and give thanks for we have what we need too.  Wishing Don and I could help clean up the storm mess - we did work on a house in Texas after a hurricane damaged it and the money towards repair was given by Lutheran charity   Now we cannot help in that way and it is so frustrating.  I can and should at least work on quilts for donations.

I need a haircut today. - a group of geese just flew over the house.  Judy , I think they are from Canada - it sounds like they are Canadian.... :coffee: I tried to sew 8 pocket tissue holders for purses - for the craft sale.   :-\    Somehow, I managed to sew all 8 holders wrong.

Greetings Everyone  It is splendid to go to a meeting and be able to try and do something to benefit others.  Then home to hubby and have a lovely cup of tea.

Rebot

Greetings Everyone It seems very quiet on the site these past few days.  About to catch up on home accounts, I do like Spreadsheets!

Marilyn

Good morning everyone. Rebot. I am here and have checked in daily although not posting. Not much new here. Friday night dinner at the Mexican place in the mall. Keith will be going to a high school football game with his friend, that will give me a couple of hours to myself this evening.

It sure is quiet in here without Larry's daily posting and Janet away on her trip to Massachusetts. At least I think that is where she went.

Rebot

Greetings Marilyn  Did you have a splendid meal this evening and did Keith enjoy his football game.  A meal at home for us and watching the News.

Carol

Yesterday was quite a day.  Our daughter came to visit and she drove us to the VA.  She can work from anywhere with her laptop.  It was a blessing to have her help.  Don had three appointments at the massive VA building and he was quite exhausted.  We drove back and had to stop just for Laura to take a half-hour meeting on her cell phone - so we sat in a burger place while she had that call.  She left just before the Gulley Washer (huge storm) came through.  A lake formed in the ravine and we watched water come within a couple of yards close to our basement.  Thankfully, all stopped suddenly as many reports of cars floating in deep water, etc.

Rebot:  What is your meeting - you mentioned going to a meeting and helping others.

Marilyn:  Janet may have gone to Boston - but did mention Maine.  It is easier to spell.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  Splendid that your Daughter came to visit you.  I went to visit family in the West of the Island,

The meeting I attended, dare I say it here.  Was a political meeting, as I have joined a party.

A wet day on the Island today, thought dry now.  Not been out anywhere, catching up on the washing and the hoovering!

Carol

We woke early to very heavy fog and that disappeared within an hour.  Tomorrow will be an entire day for Don at the Veteran's building.  We want him pain-free after this procedure.

Rebot:  Do most of your relatives live close?  I have several cousins who live in the same small town and they visit with each other a lot.  It would have been nice to grow up with them and stay that close but my parents moved far away.  Meanwhile, we do have wonderful visits when we can.

Marilyn

It's been raining here  off and on today sometimes heavy, Not much new here.

Rebot:  We have stayed in southern England - one wonderful week in Morton On Marsh.  They had a flood in the area just a few weeks before we arrived.  We took the wonderful train and bus every day and also had hot daily breakfasts early each morning.  Canterbury is another favorite place - we were invited to Evensong at Saint Mildred.  Don had an office in Brighton and went there a lot and I was able to visit that area once.  We really liked our stays in England and people were very nice and friendly.  Great memories.

Don has an afternoon medical treatment at the Veteran's Hospital - this time I have to drive.  Tomorrow is one more long day for a 2nd. procedure for him as well.  We bring our eBooks.

We download eBooks free through the library and now there are talks about "charging for the library books over the internet".  Whoa - don't our taxes support the library enough?

Rebot

Greetings Carol Moreton on the Marsh is a splendid place to live and visit. And in a place I love to visit, The Cotswold's.  And I like Canterbury.   Call me Ellie or Ell.

Janet

I'm back!!  We got home on Tuesday night around 8, but our internet was down until grandson Curtis came by this afternoon and got it going again for us.  Love those grandkids!

The trip to Maine was way tooo loong!!  For a bus trip--4 days up there, 4 days there, and 4 days home.  Would have been so much better if we could have flown up and met the group there.  We did enjoy most of it, saw lots of our beautiful America, and met a lot of nice people.  There were two buses full of the group, many we had not met before.  People from up in Iowa, down to San Antonio, Texas, Colorado to Oklahoma and other places, too.

I wish we could have been in that region when the leaves had turned, I know it's spectacular then.  We didn't get into Vermont or Rhode Island, so need to go that way and catch those states, then see North and South Carolina, too.

I loved seeing the lighthouses, and some of us took a Harbor Cruise out of Portland, and saw some of the lighthouses up fairly close. I hope some of my photos are clear enough to paint from!

It sounds like all here are still dealing with the same problems.
And I pray all the physical problems clear up fast, so we can all enjoy our days more, and not spend so much time going to doctors!

They got our roofs all done before we got home--nice!!

Darrel made a pot of soup from the vegetables we had in the refrigerator, and now we surely need to make a trip to the store! Having eaten too much and too often on the trip, I have some extra pounds I want to shed!

I'm supposed to go to a little meeting at the library shortly. Good to be back in touch, and I'll "see" you tomorrow!

Greetings Janet  Splendid to see you back and after a lovely holiday.

JudyB

I haven't been around for a bit, I have been trying to get things done to prepare for John to have knee replacement surgery.  That was on Tuesday.  Tonight I have to move a single bed downstairs to the living room so he doesn't have to climb the stairs.  I am about to do that now, and I am concerned that my strength will hold up till its done.
Please pray for us as we continue this journey. His pain level is high and this is a man that has a high pain tolerance.
Thank you everyone.

Rebot

Greetings JudyB  We are thinking of you and John, am I right in thinking the knee surgery was on Tuesday.  Having the bed downstairs is splendid.  Is John on pain relief to lessen the pain he has.

Janet

Judy, has John already had his knee replacement surgery?  I wasn't clear on that when reading your post.  You should have called someone to help you move the bed--that's too heavy for you to move down a flight of stairs by yourself!  Yes, I know....there wasn't anyone around, and it needed to be done. We women manage to do things that we shouldn't, and sometimes pay the price in injuries or pain.  I hope you didn't hurt yourself!

This has been a rather strange day for me, seems almost surreal! Not sure why, exactly.

Carol, Marilyn, Jane, Jackie and all others----come back, come back!
We need you and we miss you!

I am here Janet.Just had an interruption on the computer -a cleaning upload was demanding to stop typing and I am supposed to obey right now so the computer can be in charge.  This world is stranger every day.

Judy:  Prayer for John to heal any pain be eased. Prayer for you!

Ellie:  Greetings!

Our weather just cooled, finally.  Giving than

We plan on going to church service tonight.  It is easier for Don to understand the message and it is the same service and songs they have on Sunday mornings. Always communion as well.

Janet

I thought my Iphone problems were solved--but when I called my
sister this morning, I got cut off, and same message "Your call cannot be completed, please hang up and dial...arghhh!!  So frustrating!!

I went out to Farmers' Market and bought tomatoes and green beans this morning.  The wind is blowing like crazy, and I'm sure you all know how I feel about that!

I wish everyone a pleasant and God-filled day!

Janet I am  here and have been here daily to read, just didn't have nuttin' to say.

I have been crocheting on an Afghan that I am making for Gilbert for Christmas. I want him to have a special gift to  always remember me by every day. I think I wll be making two more over next year for Forest and Savannah.

Keith remains the same or maybe not the same, he is having  a lot of confusion as to where things are located in the house, like which way are the bathrooms. Last evening he had trouble  unlocking the front door so he could go out to get one of the cats before we went to bed. after about 10 minutes he finally got it unlocked. All he had to do was twist the  little  lever in the middle of the door knob.
