It is now 10.25 am, soon leaving for my 11.am church service, this morning is Holy Communion, ( goes on a tad longer, ) which now we have to walk a tad further, open space before steps and rail bar...it is the open space I cant cope with...apart from my MS walking..I also have to deal with my head spinning, ( brain ) and my vision...the main thing is that I go for the 1 hour and 15 minutes, staying for the cup of tea, and possible chat, is optional... Last week I took my rollator, I plan on doing the same today but, It does get left somewhere at the back, so I am then left to grab hold of anything and everything...
...Wishing everyone a Blessed Sunday....

Hi everyone. After a very hot day yesterday we expect basically the same for today.  There is a higher percentage for the likelihood for some rain this afternoon.  I am going to Sunday School and Church but I am doubtful that Pat will make it to Sunday School but hopefully will want me to come and get her so she can attend Church and we can go out to eat our main meal of the day.  I will rest this afternoon and then watch the end of the golf tournament.  They sure had a long day yesterday and the playing conditions appeared to be difficult.

Carol, I do hope you also are having a nice weekend.

Janet, I have made myself a note to send you instructions on making your screen darker.  I will need to do a little research.

Janice, glad you found us again and look forward to seeing postings from you.  Welcome back.

Jackie, I hope you got along fine at your Church service this morning.  Can't you take Communion in your seat if it is difficult for you to go up to the altar rail or ask one of the ushers to bring you your Rollator?  I know in the Churches I have attended those unable to come to the front are served in their pews.  Pat is no longer able to kneel at the altar for Communion but does go down to the front of the Church to be served.  I hope you were able to enjoy some socialization after the service.

Janet

Good morning to Janice--wonderful to have you back!  I was thinking about you just a few days ago and wondering how you are!

A;so good morning to Larry, Jackie and the others who will pop in later.  I'm ready to go to church, so using the last few minutes to pop in and greet you.

I hope everyone has a blessed Lord's day, wherever you are!

In church this morning whilst our vicar was giving a sermon we all heard what we assume was an ambulance's siren as it came into our village and past by our church..our Bishop paused for that moment and offered we say a prayer for the person it was on its way to...

Hi everyone.  We don't expect to be as hot today as we were yesterday.  We did get a little rain yesterday afternoon and a much higher chance of rain this afternoon.

I just placed an order at Home Depot for a new dehumidifier and will go to the store in a little bit to pick it up.  It will save about $80 by picking it up myself.  I am sure they will load it into the PT Cruiser and if I can't handle it when I get it home I will ask my good neighbor across the street to help me get it out and into the house later this afternoon.  That is all that is on my schedule for today.

Pat did go to Sunday School and Church with me and then we met a couple from our Sunday School class at a restaurant for lunch.  We really enjoyed it.  It turned out to be a pretty exciting golf tournament and another young player now has won a major championship that will forever change his life.

Jackie, that was a nice thing your Vicar to offer a special prayer for whoever needed the ambulance.

Hello everyone, Welcome back Janice, good to see you made it back.

This is a busy week for all going to the Wedding over the weekend. I took Keith to get his hair cut this morning. Tomorrow I get my very first ever pedicure and have my nails done. I do have two facilities to go with Freckles this week as well Then I will either have to take her to be groomed or try to bathe her myself. It has gotten too hard for me to kneel by the tub to bathe her then attempt to get up/ getting old isn't easy.

Keith's sister is in town from North Carolina for her 50th reunion this past weekend. We spent yesterday with her going out to Charleston for seafood lunch then an afternoon of visiting, no computer yesterday was good too, but I sure had a lot of emails to catch up on today.

Hello everyone.  I am still in the dark concerning how and where to post!  I must have been AWOL for a longer time than I realized.  Thanks for all the welcome greetings.  Yes, I agree, getting older is not for sissies!...I never expected to reach my age, but here I am.  Ailments and all.  Speaking of eye problems, I have Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Cataracts.  Have been going to Amarillo well over a year to see a glaucoma Doctor.  Our little town does not have any kind of eye doctors other than those who fit you glasses. Optometrists.  Must stop for now,  iPad needs charged!
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Hi everyone. We start out the day sunny with expected high temperatures in the mid-90's.  We had some thunder yesterday but no rain and not a big chance of rain today.

I did get over to Home Depot and picked up the new dehumidifier yesterday and Scott will be over later today to help get it out of the box and set up.  It weighs about 50 pounds.  I don't want to turn it on its said as they told me I would have to wait for 24 hours to use it if I did because of something about the Freon.  I am hopeful that Scott on one side and I on the other we will be able to lift it out of the box so we can start using it today.  My friend, who loaned me his dehumidifier will be here before noon to take his unit back home.

I am also awaiting the delivery of a UPS package, which is out for delivery,  of a new small combined Windows 10 and Tablet computer that Kim Komando has designed.  It is relatively inexpensive and if we don't like it we can return it in 30 days for our money back.  I have been wanting to get a lighter weight computer for Pat and while this is smaller than her laptop it is much lighter.  Once it is delivered today I will get it setup like her current laptop and she can try it out.

Marilyn, you do have a busy week ahead.  I hope you enjoy the pedicure.  I had three of those done and then decided I would have my toenails clipped by the podiatrists office in the future.  Had you met Keith's sister before?

Jeanne, if I can remember I will look through the few pictures I have taken as I like to take pictures of flowers.

Janice, like you I never expected to live as long as I have.  I am just grateful for each new day and while I don't accomplish much anymore I always try to do a few things each day as that is important to me.  I would say you have more than your share of eye problems. Do you like the iPad?

Jackie, it would be great to have fresh vegetables delivered.  Do you have any choice about what you will be getting in your box.  I was most happy to have Pat go to Sunday School and chur

Carol

Good Day and Welcome again, Janice.  Nice to see you and I hope you spend more time in here.  What is happening in your neighborhood?

Here in a SW suburb of Denver, the mornings are now cooler and we have windows open.  We are planning a drive to Minnesota in a few weeks.  This will be in four sections of the state - my mother's home town with lake, the north (Duluth and Lake Superior), the twin cities then south of the cities to see a grandson at Gustavus Adolphus college.  Always exciting for us - Don is from Duluth so he is happy to get started.

Larry:  That sounds too heavy for you to handle --- take care.

Don just walked out with bandage over his chin.  He has irritated a cut on his chin every morning for a week and today was the granddaddy of all bleeding.  He needs to not shave for a while.

We are trying to visit a grandson in Fort Collins and he has such a busy agenda.  Both school and work full-time.  Yes, he is a super man!  Graduating with honors in 3 years.  We just want him to smell the roses a bit.

I am giving many thanks for being able to sew a complicated pattern (why did I do it?) of a quilt top.  I had a good talk with The Lord and calmed down, then it just seemed to take place.  As mother used to say, "Everything will be alright".

Marilyn

Larry, yes I have met Sandee a few times before this past weekend. Freckles and I have been out for a walk already. Tomorrow we go to the Baycrest residential facility to visit the residents.  Then I will give her a dry bath with the bathing foam and brush her real good to get it down to the skin. Thursday we visit the hospital so she has to be clean for those visits.

Oh, my, am I ever sleepy this afternoon!  I can barely keep my eyes open!
And I had a good night last night, too.  Guess I just need more z's!  ;)

Janice, tell us what's happening in your life now, please.  We are way behind on your news!  It's so good to have you back!

Larry, glad you're waiting for Scott's help with the dehumidifier.  We sure don't want you hurting yourself!

Marilyn, you will surely enjoy that pedicure!  Anyway I really do, on the rare occasion when I get one! Freckles is such a lucky dog that you got her.  I think she is more pampered than a lot of grandchildren!   :)  I hope you have a good trip and don't have to fight too terrible much Eclipse traffic.
I heard on TV that people in the path of the total eclipse are renting out their back yards for as much as $1000 per night!   :o  I want to get some safe glasses so I can look at it, as we will have 80% or more eclipse here.

Carol, glad the Lord helped you get that complicated quilt pattern sorted out!  Hope Don's chin heals up nicely.  Darrel has been having so many zits on his nose, and he just won't leave them alone.  He always tries to squeeze them too soon, so his nose is bright red.  I told him if he doesn't stop it, people will think he's a wino!   ???

I had some errands this morning after we went to the gym, came home and had breakfast, then got dressed for the day.  As I passed her house, a friend of mine was out working in her yard, so I pulled in and chatted for a few minutes.  They have their house up for sale and I hadn't seen her in ages, have been intending to visit her.  Anyway, I went on and took care of my errands, and as I was driving home, I saw Mary putting her yard tools in the garage, so pulled in again, and we went in her house and visited for an hour, until her husband came home for lunch.  I'm so glad I did.  We both enjoyed it so much!  Mary is a very talented artist, but now has MD and is nearly blind in her left eye.  She is also almost totally deaf, but has hearing aids that go way deep into her ear canals, so she can hear normal conversations again.  Their family all live away from here, so they are moving closer to them, as they feel the years pressing in.  Sigh.....

Maribel is here cleaning for us.  I'm so thankful for her help!  Her two hours are almost up, and when she leaves I'm going to try to catch a short nap--even 15 minutes would help!

See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone. We are in for another very hot day getting up to 96 or above this afternoon with little chance of rain.

I did get the new little computer/tablet last evening and probably 3 hours working on it.  However, I am very disappointed this morning as it will not start up.  I think it may well have a defective battery as I noticed when using it last evening that the battery kept going down rather than charging as it should since it was connected to the electrical power.  It is a shame as I think Pat would have enjoyed using it.  I will call Kim Komando later this morning but am pretty sure I will have to return it.  Scott did stop by for a few minutes yesterday and got the dehumidifier out of the box and It ran all evening.  I wasn't able to hook the hose up as couldn't get the little plug out and will see if Scott can tonight.  By about 10 pm the tank was full.  I told Pat to just turn it off and I would empty the tank this morning, which I have done.  The unit is easy to move and I could roll it to the bathroom door and remove the tank.  That way if any water spilled it would be on the tile and not the wooden floor.

We will go out this evening with Scott and Jennifer for the evening meal.  Pat does have a 10 am appointment with the Pain Clinic but I won't need to go with her.

Carol, I was a bit embarrassed when after Scott had lifted the dehumidifier out of the box we discovered the box was open on the bottom flat, which had been held to the box by straps.  Live and learn I guess.  Does Don use an electric razor?  I have used one for years and wouldn't consider going back to a blade razor.  Later your grandson will ask himself as to why he was in such a hurry to finish college unless he plans to go on the graduate school.  I got my degree in three years by going to the summer sessions but was anxious to be able to leave the farm.

Marilyn, that Freckles must bring a lot of joy where ever she goes.

Janet, it sounds like you need to get some extra rest.  Your schedule would wear anyone out.  People paying $1000 for a 2 1/2 to four minute view of the eclipse staggers my imagination.  Sure hope it won't be cloudy or there will be a lot of disappointed people across the country.  I am glad you are having someone come and help you with the housecleaning.

Carol

Janet:  Blessings to Maribel!  It sounds like the right decision to move closer to family.

Larry:  I had a issue with my cell phone not charging at son's house and then realized that the bottom of the outlet was not working because it was on a timer for the light.  DUH - I should have thought of it.

:coffee:  time for my coffee.  I drink a concoction with water in the morning the first minute then switch to coffee.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone. We are in for another day with over 95 degree temperature and little chance of rain.  I did water my yard this morning.

We had a very pleasant surprise yesterday afternoon when the phone rang and it was Chape and Beverly on their way to Vermont.  It was a pleasant, although brief visit and much appreciated.  We did meet Scott and Jenifer for our big evening meal at Diablo's Tex Mex restaurant and had another delicious meal.  We then came back to the house and talked for awhile and then they and Pat played several games of Farkle, which they have started doing each Wednesday evening they are here.

It is going to be a pretty busy day for me today.  I have to get the defective new computer boxed up and dropped off at the UPS store, which is on our way down to coffee.  After I spoke to the customer service (an actual human) he sent me a mailing label and after checking out the unit for themselves they will send me another computer.  After I return my friend back to the assisted living facility following coffee I will go back downtown to Aldi's to restock the pantry.  Our Wisdom group is not meeting today as the Minister took a few days of well earned vacation.  We are going to have a salad supper, which is easy to do and is tasty.

Carol, sure glad it was a simple plug in problem and not a problem with your phone.

Janet

I'm waiting for Darrel to get dressed so we can go to the gym.  We need to go earlier because I have a 10:20 dental appointment.

I see I missed posting yesterday, even though I did come in and read the postings.  Guess I hadn't anything exciting to report.   ;)

I wasn't able to find any of the eclipse-safe glasses (procrastination causes these things!) but Toni and Curtis have two extra pairs, so we will go over to Moscow and get those.  They are going to drive clear to St. Joe, Mo. to watch it.  He said it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, which it is, but for me, seeing the 85-90% eclipse is sufficient.  And there will be lots of photos to see of the 100%, I'm sure.  I'm thinking that a lot of people will spend so much money to be in the path of the total eclipse, and then it might be cloudy and they won't get to see it after all.  That would be a big disappointment!

I have a lunch date with my friend Dee today.  She's my painting buddy, and we have been friends for many years.  Painting has brought me so many friends, but she has stuck closer than any of the others!  :)

Larry, it sounds as if you have a really busy day planned.  Don't overdo it!  I know you are careful to listen to your body and not push it, and that's a good thing!

Hi, Carol!  Are you going to post a photo of that complicated quilt when it's finished?  I'd love to see it!

Hello to the rest of you when you pop in!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Carol

Janet:  No, I am just going to send it to you for finishing

Around dinner time yesterday, the coyotes went crazy with two sirens heading into our neighborhood  - Rescue Squads plus another siren, a Sheriff.  Our friend and neighbor who is terminally ill, had fallen.  His wife with her two injured hands and one elbow could not, of course, lift him.  He did go to the hospital.  So many times this has happened and he just wants to go to heaven.

I could only make phone calls for prayers yesterday.

Today,, the sun is shining.  There are two packs of coyotes in the ravine - on both sides of the road. They sound like sirens themselves.  Don made the fashionable lighted mason jar outdoor light for me.  All from the dollar store - I used mini mason jars, the solar lawn light, and blue opaque marbles.  Without much sun yesterday, they are still glowing this morning.

Otherwise, I felt useless yesterday and surprised at how weepy I felt because Gene really does want to go to heaven - he feels he is such a burden.  His wife needs elbow surgery and perhaps more hand surgery.

Larry:  Nice that you can trade your tablet/computer for a new one.  It will be interesting to see how this works for you.  Really nice for you to have unexpected company while they were driving through your area.

Janet:  The news tells us that even the special glasses are not completely safe.  I'll just look at the shadow on the ground - thank you very much.

Our beautiful free country - watching it being manipulated.  Praying

Marilyn

Janet, I thoroughly enjoyed my pedicure and the stylist gave me a deal because I have been her client for 8 years. She painted my fingernails and toes the same color with silver sparkles on the tips and white flowers on my big toes. Fancy stuff!!

Everyone just loves Freckles, she is so friendly and loving and really loves her job and the love she gets and well as the love she gives. I washed her good with the dry shampoo and brushed her good as well this morning getting her nice and clean for the hospital visit.

Carol, when I lived in the desert coyotes used to come into my yard all the time. One time a young one came under the fence as my dogs and I were sitting outside. Happy chased the little one out into the desert. Pretty soon I saw happy coming back with the little coyote chasing him nipping at happy'ss tail. It was so funny. My landlords used to come up there on the weekends, the brought some bones and food up and put it outside one time, two large coyotes came into the yard to eat, My dogs were in the house so they didn't chase the coyotes. I am glad they were because thoe guys were big ones. I told my landlords never to leave food out again. they thought there were leaving it out for my dogs.

Hi, friends,

I'm weary tonight, so won't talk too long.

I'm still caring for the kitty and his owner (my sister in law) - she needs for me to pay her bills and fetch things from home to take to the care center. The center is only 2 blocks from my apartment, much  closer than the 20 miles across town to the hospital.

I got choked today and thought I was gong to pass out before I could slowly regain my breathing, so I think the extreme stress on me is why I'm so tired tonight.

Jackie, thanks for the graphics, and the saying in this last one. I really enjoyed it.

And, all the wonderful comments. - Absolutely great.

May God's richest blessings be with  all of you tonight.

Hi everyone. It is a bright and sunny morning and headed into the mid to high 90's this afternoon with only a very low chance of rain.  Yesterday turned out to be very busy and accomplished what I had planned to do plus fixing both breakfast for Pat and dinner for us.  I am hoping for a quiet and easier day today.

I slept for eleven hours last night but still not feeling very peppy this morning.  If I get motivated later this morning I will go and get a haircut and perhaps watch golf later this afternoon.

Janet, I have had the same idea concerning people traveling far to see the eclipse and then perhaps having it be a cloudy day and they would miss it.  I will settle to see the eclipse on the news.  Hope you enjoyed your lunch date with your friend.  Friends are special jewels in our lives.

Carol, do you send your quilts out for the final stages of doing the sewing in of the quilt with a pattern or "in the ditch"  (I have been listening to Pat on that one).  :)  Sorry to hear of your neighbors added burden with the fall and hospitalization. Your outdoor lights sound very nice.  Don is so talented.

Marilyn, I sure hope no weeds appear in your toenail flower gardens!  :)  Glad you enjoyed the experience and they sound very pretty,  When I had the pedicures done I made it clear at the beginning that I did not want any paint on my toenails.  Coyotes can certainly be dangerous for small pets.  I haven't heard any of them around here.

Ruth Ann, glad that your SIL is located much closer to you.  Paying bills for someone else isn't an easy job.  Sure glad you didn't pass out with the choking.

Jackie, another very nice graphic and wonderful saying on it.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It is good to hear from y'all this morning. I'm still tired from yesterday's activities, but I needed to get some things accomplished so I'm up and about.

My poor sister in law has no one else to help. She was a young widow, with one multiple handicapped son. He died a few years back as a result of brain cancer. And, her brother who held her power of attorney died in 2015. So, I will help her as long as I'm able to do so.

I must go for today. Jackie, thank you for the nice graphic. :)

May each of us experience God's love and blessings today.

I hit something I shouldn't have and lost half my post this morning; then Darrel said, "Let's go!" so I didn't have time to fix it.  Oh, well.

In the part I lost, I did thank Jackie for the beautiful graphic.  I love those, and don't make them myself, so appreciate what others do.

We went to Hugoton, collected sweet little girl hugs, also big girl and boy (Toni and Curtis) ones, then went on to Garden City.  I had two friends who really wanted some of the eclipse glasses, so we ran all over Garden looking for some, to no avail.  I had walked probably two miles this morning outdoors, as it was a nice, cool morning.  Then, running into and out of at least eight different businesses, asking for those glasses, and all over Walmart, and I feel like I've been  :run: all day.  When we got home, I put away the groceries, then collapsed in my recliner and took a nap! zzzzzzz.  :)  There were more things I had planned to do in Garden, but I was just too tired.  We will probably go back next week.

Darrel got a pleasant surprise in the mail today!  He has been invited to go on the next Kansas Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., the last of October and the first few days of November!  They think they have taken all the WWII Vets still living and able to go, and are working through those from the Korean and now the Viet Nam wars.  They will take them on a bus from Garden City to Wichita, and fly them from there to DC.  I'm so happy for him to get to go!  He served in the Army for seven years.

Larry, you had a really busy day!  Glad you got eleven hours' sleep!  And I know you won't overdo things, for which I am glad.

Carol, I just want to say how much I appreciate your posts!

Janice here...I just got caught up reading your posts.  Nice to read all of your news and happenings.  I have been tolerating a very painful neck, thinking it was a vertebrae problem, from the symptoms.  It began in April, and I was finally able to see a doctor last week.  X-rays show it is not the vertebrae, but a degenerative arthritis instead.  A relief to know I don't have to have surgery.  But the pain remains regardless.                                                                          For the last 2 or 3 years I have been making quilt tops, and a few finished for a recliner cover for watching TV.  Average size abou 56x70.  None bed size.  I estimate I have made 35 or so.  It has given me so much pleasure, I just can't quit making them.  I started out saying I was going to make one for all my girls...1 daughter, 1 step dtr, 2 grand-dtrs, 3 or 4 dtr-in law, have lost count!  I have  stack of tops with no backs.  My dtr will inherit my house when I am gone, so she can have. Garage sale ang include these tops for sale!  😃
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Hello Janice!  I would love to buy two of those little covers from you!  We use them all the time for Beth, in her wheelchair and in her recliner while at the home.  And I haven't been able to find any around here.  The ones for her wheelchair wouldn't need to be as long, probably no more than 60" so they don't drag on the floor or get in the wheels.  Since she is unable to move at all, she gets chilled easily.  Let me know how much you want for them and I'll send you a check!  Recently,
when I was looking for a new one, I wound up buying a pretty tablecloth with butterflies on it, to use. Not ideal, as it is slick and slides off easily.  We wanted something lightweight for summer.  She has really warm ones for cold weather, but the two light ones are worn out and look shabby.  :(  I don't do that sort of thing, so if I can help you out by buying some, it will be a blessing to both of us--and Beth!  Thanks so much!

I came back to edit and say--we could really use two of each size!  Don't stress about it, though, Just whenever you can get to it will be fine.

Hi everyone. It is going to be another mid-90's day here after it got to 97 yesterday afternoon.  The heat index was 107.  We did get two nice but short afternoon rains.  Today is to be in the mid-90's again but no indicated chance of further rain.

I stayed home all day yesterday.  I did call the AC man who installed our AC unit.  He was able to be here in 20 minutes and checked everything out and found nothing wrong with the unit.  He told me we should keep the fan on Auto during the AC season and use fiberglass filters rather than the pleated filters and to keep the door open upstairs as it is zoned and it helps the air circulate.  He did not charge me for the visit, which was a shock.  The fiberglass filters are much cheaper than the type I have been buying and said they do as good a job but allow more air to circulate. I plan on watching some of the golf tourney this afternoon.

Ruth Ann, your poor SIL certainly is in a bad situation and it is good that the Lord has provided you to be there to help her.  Has she considered giving up her cat which would certainly lighten your burden in helping her?

Janet, I heard yesterday that libraries had been given a huge number of them so you might call and see if they have any.  There are going to be a lot of disappointed people if the sky is cloudy where they are.  Our forecast indicates that could happen in our area.  How wonderful that Darrel got the invite for the Honor Flight.  That should be a wonderful experience but probably a painful one as well for the memories it will bring back.  A well deserved honor for him for his seven years of sacrifice for our Country.

Janice, my wife can relate to your neck problems as has a lot of back and neck pain and takes muscle relaxant and pain medicine almost daily.  She has spinal stenosis and it is unlikely that surgery would help her although she will see the surgeon in a few weeks to get his opinion.  You are quite a quilter, another thing you have in common with my wife.  She is not able to do much each day.  Her mind is willing but the body just doesn't agree. She does watch quilting videos daily and loves the quilting magazine put out by Missouri Star Quilt Company.  It is a bit expensive but no advertising and beautiful high quality paper and printing.

Another beautiful morning - we are waiting for our oldest grandson to arrive with all the wood, etc. to make a low table.  I need to go to W-mart.  Ugh

Ruth Ann:  Your choking episode is just plain scary and exhausting.  So very sorry.  Do understand that you are the only one to help your S-in-law.  Would her church or any of her friends be able to step in with at least one of her assistance issues?  You probably have to continue with the money matters just for safety sake.  Be safe - we all want you to have your rest and healing.

Janet:  Hooray for Darrel having the Honor flight.  Thank him for his service from both of us.  I wish I had a quilt that size for Beth.  When this dreadful thing is over, I'll only make smaller sizes.

Marilyn:  We attended a lecture on coyotes from an expert once.  She thought they were the smartest animal - learning to survive in the suburbs so well.  keep the dogs away.

My haircut yesterday was from a person who had each fingernail painted differently.  He - works for a national salon and I asked him about insurance.  Nothing from the corporation.  Trying to figure out his income on a daily level, I cannot even understand how these working people can live.  One gal I used to see had a young son and when he was sick or out of school, he needed a sitter.  So - everyone who can - please give generous tips for good service.  It is a very good time to also say, "I will pray for you" when you have the opportunity.

Janet, my email is xxxxxx_nm@yahoo.com.  Please use my name in place of the xxxx's.  Would rather talk by email than online.  Thanks.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24
