Hi Everyone.  We have a cloudy morning and rain headed our way this afternoon, evening and tomorrow but no significant amounts and winds up to 30 MPH with a some stronger gusts.  They are having a street fair in downtown Augusta today that started yesterday afternoon.

On Thursday I did get my first of two flu shots and shingles shots.  I have to wait from two to 6 months for the second shots of each.  I will get my pneumonia shot a little later.  I didn't feel well yesterday but I did keep an appointment at Best Buy and got my iPhone battery replaced.  I also learned that I would be able to use the new iWatch by using the blue tooth function of my phone and the watch so that is back on the table.  After lunch yesterday Scott called me and said the radiator had blown on my Hyundai Accent so it went back to the garage but should be done this morning.  There is one more major repair to be done on it to replace the timing belt but asked him to wait until next month as the radiator replacement is rather expensive.  I did go to bed right after dinner last evening around 6:30 as my heart had been letting me know it was there all day and I was exhausted and in discomfort.   I did have a good nights sleep but still am feeling a bit down this morning so will skip my Saturday meeting and just plan on staying home today.  I will rest more and watch some football.  I hope to be feeling up to attending Church tomorrow.

Carol, I hope you have found some good anti-inflammatory vegan recipes.  Does your son cook?  Maybe your son will bring some of he recipes he is able to eat with him.  I don't do a good job of keeping in touch with relatives.  I try to keep the kitchen cleaned up and Pat sees that the bathroom is clean and we do the laundry.  Other than that we don't do much housework.

Janet, I am amazed that with the junk mail and ads I get each week I have to empty my desk waste basket twice a week and the kitchen trash container more often.  I am just now seeing some wind gusts developing as I look out my office window.  We are not going to get much rain but the main concern will be flooding from the many rivers.  I read yesterday that our county, which is quite large, has many dams and having a dam break is a concern.  Fortunately it doesn't happen too often.  It sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.  What do you have left to do on your book?  I am sure helping you gives John a sense of being needed and we all need that I believe.  It is nice you have someone dependable close by.

Marilyn, was Roger interred in a cemetery?  I hope you and Freckles have get fun in your Fun Fes parade today.  Is Keith going with you to enjoy the parade?

Janet

Larry, I came in mainly to check on you, as we were watching the news coverage of the storm.  Sad what all that water and wind does to trees and buildings!  Devastation over such a large area!  I'm glad you and Pat are safe and hope you will not be affected by any flooding that occurs.

Thanks, Marilyn!  It's always good to get home again.  I'm sorry for your loss, and for the way your daughter decided to act.  I do not understand things like that, but they do happen in a lot of families.  Glad you have a fun event with Freckles to cheer you up!  She is such a blessing to you, isn't she?  Do you still have another dog besides her?

Larry, I have to choose the "trim size" for the book, send the finished (I hope) manuscript for final editing, choose the pictures I want put in it, and anything else they come up with that I don't know about.  Working with this company is so much different from the company that published my first book.  Yes, the flood of junk mail is really a pain.  But we don't get nearly the volume we did when we were both in business, as lots of that has finally dropped off.  We had a tub full of mail when we picked it up; I put the empty tub beside the table as we sorted and all the junk went back into it, and it was about a third full when I took it to the dumpster to empty it before returning the tub to the Post Office.  I like to get that done ASAP when we get home.  I hope you start feeling a lot better today.  We are to get Hepatitis C and Typhoid shots before we go to Morocco.   :P

I think I will run out to the Farmers Market and see what's happening today!

Marilyn:  I hope you can make a private trip to the grave site some time.

Janet:  isn't it hard to come home and there is ton of duties that cannot be ignored?  Take care of yourself too.

Don gave me (us) a Roomba robot floor cleaner.  Today, I could not find the little dickens - searched over and over.  Finally, we found it hiding in a closet with the door closed.  How on earth could it close a door?  Another mystery to ponder.

So far, everything is working well with my long daily bible study.  I know when we travel that there won't be time but it doesn't "have" to be read in one year.  It has been many years since I read the entire bible.

Larry:  Our DIL will be doing all the cooking at their house - so nice to freeze portions.  I have frozen some veggie soups here and have another thing in mind too.

I called an old friend from Fort Collins who now lives next to her daughter north of Raleigh, North Carolina.  Everyone is safe - all the horses are fine too.  Daughter is a veterinarian -I remember her getting her DR. credentials.  They had rain but not much in wind.  It sure looked different on the t.v. maps.

Marilyn

I wasn't told where  Roger was interred,  maybe I can find out later.  No I don't have another dog just freckles. both Happy and Bebe passed away a few years ago.
The parade was fun. I found a way to keep Freckles little hat on by  putting her collar through the ear l.oops since the hat was too big for her in  the first place.

Hi Everyone. Our area seems to have avoided any direct impacts from the Hurricane.  We had generally light rain starting yesterday afternoon but no big wind gusts that I heard.  Today we may get some more rain but they are saying less than an inch with some wind gusts.  However, it is now moving Northward away from us.  So did feel somewhat better yesterday and, as of now, I do plan on going to Sunday School and Church.  Nothing else on the agenda for today.  I did stay home all day yesterday and rested a lot.

Janet, I haven't heard of any flooding in our area but that will come later as the rivers send a lot of water downstream. This has been some storm for the Carolina's.   Thanks for the info on what is left to do on your book.  The mail was something I always looked at and sorted as soon as we got home from a trip.

Carol, I hope you will really like the Roomba.  Sweeping is one of the household tasks that I very difficult and tiring.  I know a couple of people who have used them and really like them.  You must have really given it an exercise if it had to go into the closet and rest.  I thought it was suppose to return to its base when finished.  Like you it has been a number of years since I have read the entire Bible.  I used the Bible in a Year edition twice.  However, I did read and listen to the New Testament not long ago.  Are you saying you won't now have to do the special cooking for your son? Sure glad your friend and daughter in Raleigh are OK.

Marilyn, glad you enjoyed the parade and it sounds like Freckles did also.

Janet

I really made a big mistake yesterday, and boy! did I pay for it! I had picked the produce from the garden, had tomatoes and peppers.  Not many peppers, just a big handful, so I decided to cut them up and put them in the freezer.  I didn't think they were very hot, I didn't have any disposable gloves, so I just did them.  Well, it wasn't very long until I had a bad case of  "hot pepper hands!"  Yes, that's what they call it, and let me tell you, if you haven't experienced it, don't!  It's awful!  I tried scrubbing my hands good, no help.  Put vinegar on them, no help.  Tried cooling lotion, nope!  After suffering with them until 11:30, Darrel said, "Why don't you look on the internet and see what they recommend."  I did, and there are many things--milk, yogurt, (I had neither) rubbing them with oil (nope) making a paste of baking soda and water, applying it, letting it dry, etc. (I wanted quicker relief!)  Finally I read - use bleach & water 1 to 5, soak hands a while, rinse in cool water.  That did it!!  What a relief!
After the two Tylenol kicked in and I kept my hands outside the covers for another hour, I finally got to sleep.  Whew!  I will sure get some gloves before I mess with peppers again!

Larry, glad to read your day of rest has you feeling better again.  Will Pat be going to church with you today?

Today we will be worshipping in the slightly remodeled Fellowship Hall, as they have begun the much needed update and remodel of the sanctuary. They met there last Sunday, but we were in Alaska.  ;)  Some of the "older" members still aren't happy about things being changed, but it will be a much more usable and beautiful space when it's done.

Almost time to go!  Will be good to be in church again.

Blessings to each of you!

We went to the Saturday 5 PM service which stays around 1 hour in length.  Is is much quieter and Don can understand the speaker with their wonderful hearing aids.  It looks like that fits best for us and sometimes I also go to an early service at another huge church - a chapel service at 7:30 AM>

Larry:  This bible study show 3 separate books of the bible with about 4 chapters daily.  We write what we take from the lesson.  It takes about a half an hour every day so that is good it isn't too long and people drop out.  Reading in Genesis, John and Psalms now.  I am a vacuum cleaner - it is one thing I have done almost every day.  We sold a house once and the carpet was 7 or 8 years old and everyone thought it was new - so there is a reason to keep on vacuuming.

Janet:  You made me think of that song..."I'm a Pepper"... silly song.  So sorry, I am glad you found a cure.  Both Don and I had a terrible night after touching some cacti a few years ago.  We could not even see the needles - no sleep on that night.  Janet - a lesson learned!   Take care.

Marilyn:  I bet the children get a kick out of seeing your doggie with a hat.

A grandson is coming for a visit this afternoon - so Don is having  a short nap first.

We all worship differently and  - but we all worship the same one.

Marilyn

Hi everyone, My son Ron sent me some pictures of Roger's urn with some poitis around it and a big wreath of flowers. When I ask where he is locate he said he didn't know  not one had told him either. Maybe iu'all just some some flowrs to Sheila his wife.

Marilyn, what are poitis?  I think there is a typo, but I'm trying to figure out what you meant.

Today is eldest grandson Curtis' 35th birthday--how time flies!  We went to Diane's (his mom's) for dinner this evening.  Good to see him, Toni, and the three little girls who are growing up way too fast!

Hi Everyone.  The sky is clear and the sun is shiny brightly on the way to a 90 degree afternoon.  We had light rain but no wind problems yesterday afternoon and evening.  I am watching the Weather Channel and now they are having tornados and the flooding is terrible with the rainfall totals exceeding all recorded rainfall of the past.

I did make it to Sunday School and Church and then picked up something for our main meal of the day.  I wasn't very peppy yesterday and went to bed around 7:30 last evening as was aching and not enjoying being in my easy chair.  I have nothing on the schedule for today so will just take it easy and rest. I can find something to keep me as busy as I want to be.

Janet, I can't imagine what you experienced and glad you finally found something to stop the pain.  Those must be some very hot peppers you have grown.  I have never heard of this before.  Pat did not go to Church yesterday.  We are concerned about the possibility of her falling when the pavement is wet.  Change is always difficult, especially for those who have grown very use to the way things have been for a long time.  I expect folks will soon adjust.  I hadn't really looked forward to the blended services our Church had for the month of July but found I really liked them and hope it will be come the normal practice for July each month as it brought all of our Church services together into a blended for one service.  I hope you enjoyed your Church service yesterday.

Carol, sure glad you now have a Church service that you both can understand the speaker.  We have several people in our Church who use the hearing aids that are provided.  I can't image vacuuming the carpets daily.  We had an upgraded, rather than builder's grade, carpet put in our last home before we moved here and the carpet wore well for the 20 years we lived there.  We only have carpets in our guest bedroom and Pat's sewing room upstairs.  I can't imagine these will need to be changed for many years, certainly not while we live in this home, as they get very little use.  The housekeeper does vacuum the guest bedroom every time but doesn't go upstairs very often.

Marilyn, glad that Ron sent you some pictures of the urn.

Carol

In two more days, weather is predicted to at least be under 90 degrees.  They have been promising for such a long time.  Our nights and early mornings are cool so that helps but this is way too hot.  Fire danger is at the highest level.  It is an unusual year for everyone.

I am watching the little dog and she is so sweet.  We miss having a dog - there is no fence around our house so it plus the stairs to go to the back yard area prohibit even thinking of taking on an animal.

Janet:  Sorry for your episode with your hands.  The only thing I can equate with your issue is when both Don and I dug out some little cactus last year.  We were told that it did not have stickers.  We had a miserable night but it finally went away.

Larry:  Take it easy.

Marilyn--LOL!  :D  I never would have guessed that!

Larry, may you feel better again tomorrow!

Carol, I have heard of those mean cacti with the almost invisible stickers.
How did you deal with the pain?

I have spent the day rereading Walking Beth Home, found a few more little typos, changed a word here and there for one I felt worked better, added a few sentences.....I think it's pretty good!  My friend the priest said she loved it!  Can't wait to see her on Wednesday and get her edit--can then see how many things she found that I didn't!  :D

Darrel has found my state and federal numbers for my business, so I can fill out new papers.  I want to restart my framing business, since the gal downtown is out of sight.  I guess she moved her stuff home and hasn't set it up again so isn't doing any framing again yet.  And I'm getting some requests now.

Off to work on those papers!

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a sunny day with a high of 93 degrees.  We did get some rain late last night.  I didn't sleep well at last as woke up at 1:30 and never could go back to sleep.  I got up around 2:30 for a couple of hours and then laid back down but couldn't fall asleep.  There are only two things on the schedule for today.  I do have someone coming to the house at 10 this morning to work with me for an hour.  Then Pat and I plan on going to Ruby Tuesday's for our main meal today as it is National Cheeseburger Day and so today and tomorrow they are offering a free cheeseburger when a regular entree is ordered.  I think the rest of the day will be free so will be able to get some rest this afternoon and hopefully sleep tonight.  Nothing to write about in terms of things done yesterday.  It was just a quiet day although I did finish listening to another John Grisham novel and started another one that I hope is as good.

Carol, sure hope Colorado doesn't have any new fires because of the hot weather.  Glad you are enjoying the little dog.  Did your son and his wife arrive as planned?

Marilyn, thanks for the clarification.

Janet, I had a pretty good day yesterday and looking forward to the same today.  Glad Darrel found the papers you needed so you can start up your business again.

Good Morning everyone and welcome to Rebot.

Today Is one of the days that I teach Tai Chi. Several peole in my class have been too busy to show up for 1 hour of Tai Chi, so one lady is getting some one on one instruction. I have to have at least 6 people in my class in order to be  covered under the grant. Right  now I have 9 that come intermittently which is OK.

I had to taker Freckles to the vet yesterday for a follolw up on her UTI and to get an allergy shot. We have visits bother tomorrow and Thursday, so I need to get her cleaned up for the Hospital visit on Thursday. tomorrow I also go to the Alzheimer/Dementia  caregivers group after out visit at the residential facility.

Yesterday a friend  reminded that we are both  almost 80. It is hard for me to  grasp that in 2 years I will be 80, I sure don't feel like it.

I am reading through the Bible again, it has been quite a few years since i did. I read Job, Psalms before I started at t Genesis, now I am  half way through 1 Samuel. I had forgotten how interesting it is to read the history that predates Jesus and how much prophecy of Jesus there is in the old testament.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Excerpt taken from UK tv programme...Grayson Perry - Rites of Passage...

Perry posed the intriguing question: when do people truly die, when they stop breathing, or when they're no longer remembered?

That is a good question...

Good morning!  Or whatever the time is where you are!  I have been busy doing "stuff", trying to clear the afternoon to tackle trying to get photos chosen for the book.  I do not know how to find and move them to where I need them; prayers appreciated.  I cannot continue to lean on the grandson for that kind of help; he has gone above and beyond for me already, and is very busy running his business and with his family.  So I am trying to force myself into just  jumping in and trying to do it, even though I don't have the  foggiest idea what I'm doing.  :-\

Larry, sorry you didn't sleep well.  Darrel didn't, either.  I did pretty well, not the best.  Glad you can just take it easy when you need to.  Nice that you have many choices in places to eat, and get those good bargains, too!

Marilyn, good to see you, hope more of your Tai Chi people will be more regular in attending.  Sounds like fun!  We need to get ourselves back to the gym, I can really feel the difference when I don't get my exercise!  I'm thinking Darrel will be willing to go back next week.

Welcome, Rebot!  Glad to have you with us!  Please come in and tell us where you live, what you like to do, or anything you would like to share.

Jackie, that is an interesting question.  We know their bodies are dead, but if their memories are alive, then they aren't really "gone."  That's the way I look at it, anyway.  Have you another MS outing coming up soon?

I'm off to run a couple errands in town before I tackle the photo challenge!

[ Greetings Jackie A fascinating question by a most interesting person!

When we stop breathing, life does not exist as we know it.  Yet many people say they can feel the spirit of a departed loved one looking over them.

I believe those who pass away are always in our thoughts and prayers and will for all time be remembered by family.

Maybe a best answer is how we view Jesus....is he alive ( to us ) or dead?

The way I view this is, death is a new life we have yet to experience...

Janet...
...yes I have two MS socials coming up but as yet dont know what their " entertainment " or subject talks are going to be...neither have anything planned for this month...maybe will turn into a quiz night...The one I go to 31 miles away, next county have had the most fun and enjoyable evenings, the other, my more local, have had subject I have given a miss to as they have been about MS, such as leaving part of our brain to science or FEZ, ( Functional Electrical Stimulation ) sends electrical charges to a leg muscle..I want entertainment that will take my mind away from my Illness not reminders that are continually focusing on it...

I have a question...If we pray for forgiveness of something re regret from the past, how do we know we have been forgiven for it...when I say pray for forgiveness this doesn't mean in church, this can be from inside our own home...I have often broke down and cried but I still dont know if I have been forgiven for it...

Hi Everyone.  It is another bright and sunny morning and once again we are headed well into the 90's with a heat index that likely will exceed 100 degrees.  I got my day started early as made a trip to Walmart to pick up our online grocery order.  This time I had to go to a store that is over 20 minutes away from us as both of our local Walmart's had closed the online ordering for a week due to the hurricane.  Fortunately, there is a parkway I can go on for most of the way and the traffic wasn't bad.  I was home by about 8:30 and things are put away.  We are back from downtown where Pat had blood drawn in preparation at the lab in preparation for a visit to her GP next week.  When that was done we went across the street to have breakfast where I go to coffee on Thursday Mornings and split a Western Omelet and grits.  No need for lunch today. This evening is the Wednesday night dinner and then Scott will be out to visit with us for awhile.  That is plenty for one day.  I haven't read the messages yet so will do that when we get home later this morning.

Rebot,  Welcome and so nice to see you joining in the conversation.

Marilyn, you hadn't mentioned your Tai Chi class for quite awhile.  Glad it is going well and happy you have enough to keep your grant.  I hope you and Freckles enjoy your visits today.  I feel the same as you about approaching 80 as I am only about 5 months away from turning 78.

Jackie, interesting question.  I would say our earthly body is dead when it ceases to breath whether we are remembered in years to come or not. That sounds like a question that would be posed to Theology students or philosophy students.  You make an interesting observation.  Remember that Jesus came and died for our sins and that when we face judgment day our sins are forgiven and will be remembered no more.  Take a look at Hebrews 8:12

Janet, my often used advice when someone needs to know how to do something is to do a Google Search and it will probably link you to several YouTube videos that demonstrate how to insert photos into whatever software you have prepared your book with.  I did get a good nights sleep last evening.  However, have had a busy morning and look forward to getting some rest this afternoon.

Janet

Thanks, Larry.  I believe you told me to look for You Tube instructions for something before.  But I forgot, so thanks for yet another reminder.  I didn't get to work on that yesterday, and today was my painting day, so ......  My friend who read my manuscript went over it very quickly with me today and showed me a few things she suggests I change to make it better.  I'm thankful or her feedback!

Jackie, about asking for and receiving forgiveness, all you need to remember is 1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
What a wonderful promise that it--and it is true EVERY time.  Maybe, like me, you have trouble forgiving yourself.  If so, just know, and try to accept that He has forgiven you, so why should you hold onto the guilt or pain any longer?  He has cleansed you--you're forgiven, washed clean, and set free! What a wonderful God we serve!

Rebot, good to see you posted again.  We hope you will become a regular here with us!

Tonight we will go to church for the Wednesday night dinner and stay for Bible study.  We missed the first week, as we weren't home yet.

Today I painted a newborn baby giraffe!  She's pretty cute!

Hi Everyone.  Just more of the same weather wise today with heat and humidity.  However, yesterday evening when we came home from dinner at the Church I noticed the air was much cooler than it has been at that time all summer so there is hope for some cooler weather.  Our dinner last evening at Church was quite good and we all enjoyed it.  We then came home and had a nice evening with Scott.

Today is coffee day so will pick up my friend and go downtown for an hour.  I have a prescription to pick up at Walmart and a couple of other items and then plan on a quiet day.  I think I will refresh my Windows 10 software on my laptop.  Fortunately it doesn't have too much in the way of programs installed and the refresh doesn't destroy my personal files although will certainly back them up before starting the process.  It is a bit of a job but have done it quite a few times so know what is involved.  Other than that I plan for a quiet day.

Janet, are you going to post your new baby giraffe painting on your Facebook page.  I always enjoy looking at your paintings.  That is another really appropriate Bible verse you shared with Jackie in response to her question.  It is interesting how we find it so hard to forgive ourselves because we are not perfect in all that we do.  Hope you had a good dinner at your Church last evening.  Do you have a regular paid cook to fix these meals?

Good day all!  We are sunny and cooler today and it finally rained last night.  Super nice to have this rain.

Son & wife left a few minutes ago and they will be back in December for more appointments.  Meanwhile, his doctors are pleased with the better numbers on his 4 days of check-up.  Even the word "miracle" was made.  I'll take a miracle anytime in life.

I have to put a binding on this last quilt and it is the happiest time as I really like to sit and enjoy the finishing project.  We have enjoyed having a dog visit this week and at the same time do not even think of having another animal ourselves.  The coyotes are back in the ravine after being absent for months.  There yipping has wakened me two nights in a row.  Time to get up and get the walk-out basement ready for anyone visiting - meanwhile, we may have to take a little nap just to rest a bit today.  Oh, forgot to mention that elk were seen south of our house, I am not sure where exactly but this is a suburb of Denver. With all the traffic, you would think animals would feel crowded out of this area.

Hello Rebot!  I hope someone can help you with the font you prefer.

Marilyn

Please pray for Keith. His prostate is very swollen, He was catheterized yesterday, Today  he just keeps leaking. the dementia isn't helping, last night he thought he saw people in th back yard. It may have been a deer, but he sure thinks it was two people walking low to the ground, He was up looking in all the rooms, opening and closing doors. He sees the Urologist next Thursday afternoon.  Dr. Craig (his son) said it will never get better only get worse. They woin;t operate on a person with dementia because being in the hospital will just confuse them more..

Hi Everyone.  We are in for a mostly sunny day and getting back into the low 90's this afternoon with humidity.  It will be a busy morning as the housekeeper will be here, I have to go for a pacemaker check and on the way home will stop at Costco to pick up a few things.  I plan to eat my lunch there as know by the time I get home I will be ready to rest.  I slept good last night until I woke up at 5 this morning.  Yesterday was a full day with going to Walmart, downtown to coffee and resetting my laptop computer and then restoring the various programs I use on it. The reset removes applications but leave personal files and settings.  However, I am careful to have those backed up just in case something goes wrong.  I think I about have everything back to where I want it.

Rebot, if you are posting in the little box at the bottom of the page click on the Preview link and it will then give you the posting box with the various setting available such as selecting the font and size that you will see when it has actually been posted.  What you see in the posting box is controlled by the setting you have for your computer.  In the setting click on the "Personalization" link and you can then select the font that you will see on your computer.  If what you are seeing on your screen is too small you can set the default in the "Display" link.  I have a 22 inch monitor and keep my setting at 125 percent for display.  Another way to increase the size of the info you are seeing on your screen is to hold down the control button on the keyboard and scroll the mouse wheel up or down to get it to a size that is comfortable.  I hope this is helpful.

Carol, glad you son got such good news as "miracles" are always a good thing when it comes to health.  Glad you enjoy finishing your quilts with the hand sewing.  I have seen Pat do that a lot in the past.  It sounds like it may be getting close to the time to get the suitcases out and make your lists for your return to Arizona as it sounds like Don is ready to go.

Marilyn, sorry that Keith is experiencing new problems physically and with the dementia.  I remember that my mother as she advanced in her dementia was certain that one of the neighbors was going to break into the house.  She insisted Dad cut up all of the credit cards, she kept the window blinds pulled all the way down at night feeling someone was peaking in and spying on them.  Then the sundowner's syndrome set in and at night she would go around the outer edge of the rooms in the house just touching the walls.  Does Keith wear any kind of identification bracelet or have something with a GPS tracking in case he gets out of the house without you knowing it?  I know you have your hands full and I will certainly remember both you and Keith in my prayers.

Marilyn

Larry I think I would have a hard time at this point getting him to wear an ID bracelet or tracking device. He still know what os going on but at times he doesn't. I have him wearing Depends   now since  the bladder is leaking so profusely.
