DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

From Chris Saunders

I ask you today to think on these two words.."God given."
What is God given?
The very air in your lungs is God given, when He takes it away you will pass from this life either to heaven, or if you are not born again..
To hell.
All we have is God given, our health, our strength, our work, our homes, our families, our wives, husbands, are all God given.
And God gives wonderful blessings to His saved children.
Your conviction of sin was God given, your repentance, the grace and mercy and forgiveness..God given, your whole salvation, sanctification, justification, God given.
You have nothing of which to boast!
Ah, you say, if everything is God given why did He give me a boyfriend -girlfriend- husband-wife- who was a gambler- womaniser) alcoholic?
Well, have you heard of God's permissive will?
How God allows things to happen, if you are really determined to have them.
King David was determined to commit adultery with Bathsheba and to have her husband killed..God allowed it..but the consequences were terrible, their child died, and David afterwards had much trouble, even having to flee his palace from his son Absolom who himself was murdered.
David had to learn that getting your desire outside of God's Perfect will brings suffering..always.
So here we go..where did you meet your boyfriend- girlfriend? In a bar, at a beer party?
In a casino?
Where do you expect to find a good person.. We'll you might expect me to say in church, but I know church fellowships where women go looking for a companion, and where men go to find women foolish enough to sleep with them!
I'm lonely, where do I find someone?..In God's will.
Ask God for them, and be patient, if He has someone for you you mustn't go looking in the wrong places, if you do go looking in the wrong places you will be outside His Perfect will for you and you will end up unhappy.

But for the non- Christian..well all I can say is that you will never be really happy and content while you are outside God's will for you,,He desires you to be His, Salvation as we said, is a free gift. If you are determined to be outside God's Will..hell awaits you.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His Only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him, will never perish but have Everlasting Life.
That's God's Will for you today.
All true joy, happiness, and contentment, is
" God given."

Read and study Genesis ch. 24 about Eliezer Abraham's servant being guided by God through prayer in finding a wife for his master, Isaac.
It is beautiful. Be patient.

THE BIBLE STANDS
(Click title for music)

The Bible stands like a rock undaunted
'Mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal,
And they glow with a light sublime.

Refrain
The Bible stands though the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the Bible stands.

The Bible stands like a mountain towering
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can.

Refrain

The Bible stands and it will forever,
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given,
All its precepts I will obey.

Refrain

The Bible stands every test we give it,
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it,
And to prove and to make it mine.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day.  It is suppose to be down to 34 at 8 am but then be up into the 60's again this afternoon and sunny all day long.  I am ready to go to Church this morning.  I have done the morning chores except to fix Pat's breakfast and decided to sit down an rest a few minutes and eat my breakfast and then will go and fix hers.  She said she wasn't in any rush and I have everything set out so it will be quick and easy this morning.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.  I have nothing to talk about that I did yesterday as stayed home.

Judy, thanks for getting us started on a new month and sharing another of Chris's fine devotional pieces.

Janet, I think traveling can be very stressful so not surprised that your fine trip did leave Darrel tired.  Nice to see you are beginning to do the things you really enjoy doing.  I hope your silk painting went well yesterday as well as your water color piece.

Marilyn, I have always thought that gray hair for a women was very attractive.  After all we have earned every last one of those gray hairs over the years.  When do you start your classes at the Senior Center?

Janet

Larry, I finished the little watercolor piece yesterday at home; the silk class was postponed. I posted a picture of the WC on FB, nothing special, for sure.  Just fun!  ;)

I got such a sweet letter in the mail last week from our eldest great-granddaughter Lexi.  She's 10 and in fourth grade.  I think they must be learning how to format and write friendly letters, anyway, she did everything exactly right!  She was asking me about Easter Island, saying she wants to hear all about it and see all my pictures; and that she will tell me all about the crater of diamonds, Walt Disney World, Legoland, and so on, concluding with these words, "And we will both have so much fun!'  THAT LETTER IS A KEEPER, (oops) for sure!  I am surprised they are still teaching the kids how to write "real" letters anymore, but really happy they are!

Today they had a big Grand Opening of the new church building for Oasis Church,
where we went for years before switching to the Methodist church over two years ago.  The building is like one you would find in a huge metropolitan area, very modern (and dark!) everything is black or gray, and with my diminished sight,
I had trouble seeing in there!  But it was really good to see so many we love and had worshipped with over the years; and everyone was warm and welcoming.
If the music had been better, with even one familiar song, we would have been much happier.  They kept repeating one song for over ten minutes!!  :-\

The first Mexican restaurant established here in Ulysses is having its 50th anniversary this weekend, with specials every hour.  We stopped and had lunch--Chimichangas were $2, Guacamole $1 and corn dogs 50c!!  We each had a chimichanga and I had guacamole.  I like corn dogs, but I'd had enough food, so skipped that.  Then they gave us a free slice of their anniversary cake!  Nice!  The parents established the restaurant, and when they retired, they told the kids, I think they had seven, that each one was to take a two-year turn managing the place.  They are still doing that today.  Now you know a bit of Ulysses history!!

Judy, what's the latest news on Pat?  I got a very short message via Messenger, but no news.

Pat is in a lot of pain.  Talking to her last night and she was struggling.  Please pray for her.

Larry I start teaching the Tai Chi classes on Tuesday. They aren't at the Senior center, they are4  located next door to Senior Housing in the HUD office building's activity room. It is a huge  room I hope at least a few people show up tomorrow. I have to tell them that this Friday there won't be a class because I have a prior commitment with Furry Friends at the class time.

Hi Everyone.  It is a another beautiful day here although it is quite chilly this morning, down to around 34 but again will get to the mid-60's.  I have a light day planned for today.  This morning I will drop off a return package at Fed EX on my way to Aldi's to pick up a few items.  From there I will go to Walmart to pick up Pat's big grocery order and come home and unload it and help put it away.  That will probably be it.  I think we plan on just having a salad supper this evening with chicken for Pat and tuna for me.

Yesterday morning when I plugged in the old toaster oven it made a sizzling noise and then started to burn around the plug with fire shooting out.  Fortunately I was still standing there so could grab the cord and unplug it.  It went immediately into the trash can. I bet we have been using it for 25 to 30 years.  So now Pat gets to pick out a new one. We are also going to have to return the new phone that Pat got as the conversations are garbled and the battery doesn't want to stay charged.  I ordered her a new and better phone last evening.  There really aren't too many choices available in an old fashioned basic flip phone.

I did enjoy watching the golf from Mexico City yesterday and it was a pretty exciting finish.  The old guy beat all of the younger ones as Phil Mickelson won the $1.7 million dollar prize.  Of course the runner up also made over $1 million dollars.

Janet, I will check out your Facebook page to see your painting.  Lexi sounds like a very sweet little girl who loves her great grandmother.  We have one of those really large non-denominational Churches close to us and they have a huge parking lot that I saw almost full when I drove by there on one Sunday.  Interesting story about your Mexican restaurant and how the management is passed around.  However, it sounds like the parents placed a terrible burden on the children that would really mess up their lives in terms of other jobs.

Judy, thanks for the update on Pat and certainly wish you could have reported better news regarding her.

Marilyn, I hope you have a good turnout for your class tomorrow.

Happy Monday, everyone!  The update from the weather service on my phone a bit ago said "High wind warnings!"  Ugh.

Larry, the little watercolor isn't good, but it was fun, and will help me get back into painting again.  I will have to miss this Wednesday as Darrel has a Dr. app't. in Liberal.  We have quite a lot to do that day, as we still haven't replenished the "larder."  And I need hearing aid batteries and to get the hearing aids cleaned.

Larry, I don't think your little toaster oven owes you anything!  That's a long time it served you well, and I'm so glad you were right there to unplug it and prevent more problems.  Pat may have a hard time choosing a new one.
I haven't looked at them in years, but they probably have all kinds of fancy ones by now!

I don't think the Romero siblings feel their parents burdened them at all;
they seem to really look forward to their two-year turns running the El Ranchito.  Several have started restaurants of their own, so they may opt out, allowing the others more chances to run it.  And the family are mostly women, so their husbands are employed in other jobs.  TMI?  Sorry!

THIS IS THE DAY!!!  I am determined to start typing on the book TODAY!! We have been to the gym, so I'm getting ready to dig in!!

Larry last week when doing my laundry I smelled something burning and it what the wall plug shooting out little flames I unplugged the washer cord  and  flipped the breaker to the off position. Thin I got an heavy duty extension cord and plugged the washer in to that  the other end in the dining room.

I cooked a big pot of food for Freckles this moring and it tastes really good. It is ground turkey, rice, butternut squash, peas, shredded carrots, spinach, and some cranberries.

Hi Everyone.  It is raining this morning but 53 degrees and will stay in the high 50's through out the day.  It is suppose to continue all day long.  I have a busy morning as have a dental appointment for teeth cleaning at 10 am so will leave around 9:30 as it takes about 20 minutes to get there.  Then as I come back home I will come but up by Costco and stop and do some shopping for some things we need.  I am hopeful I can get an electric cart as walking the aisles there today won't be fun and I will really have to go slow.  That will be it for today.  Yesterday I did get the shopping done at Aldi's and then picked up our on line grocery order at Walmart but when I got home Pat realized the luncheon meat we had ordered and been charged for wasn't there.  I called and they checked and found they had left it in the cooler.  I didn't feel up to making another trip and told them it would be later in the day before I could make another trip there and pick it up.  However, Pat decided she could drive down and get it, which she did and which I appreciated as had pretty much used up my day's supply of energy.

Janet,  I hope you got a start on your book yesterday.  Your explanation of the Mexican family makes more sense as to how they could handle it and that wasn't too much info.  Pat is concerned that the new toaster ovens may be larger than the one we had and take up too much counter space.  I will see what Costco has today if they have any in stock.

Marilyn, shame on you as it sounds like you are eating the good food you prepared for Freckles.  :)  However, must admit it does sound tasty.  You are a good owner to prepare the special food for your dog.  Glad your washer plug in was OK and it will probably just be a matter of replacing the wall plate.  I have had to do that on an occasion or two and that was all that was needed.

Marilyn, your situation re the faulty receptacle has been bothering me.  Do I remember correctly that you live in a mobile home?  If so, be sure you get someone to check the wiring and get things fixed correctly.  Darrel had a mobile home and after renting it out for several years, there were problems with several of the outlets in the living room.
They showed burn marks on the walls around them; so could easily have started a fire.  Yours may be only a small problem; I just want you and Keith to be safe!

Larry, how I wish you could send some of that lovely rain to us here in SW Kansas!  My station alert said this morning--AGAIN--Extreme fire danger! High winds, extreme dry conditions again today.  And they had some large grass fires near Ashland where thousands of acres and several homes, along with fences and cattle, were burned just last year!  :(

Yes!! I did get started typing my book yesterday!  I know there will be many additions and corrections to make as I go along, and that's fine.  At least I have it started.  "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." I talked to John and asked him some questions, then asked him if he would like to write some things for the book, too.  He was really pleased that I asked, and is thinking about things he wants included.  I learned some time ago that John is a really good writer; expressing his thoughts on paper very well. So I'm pleased he is eager to share.

Our gal Kristi (at the gym) is no longer taking care of the classes there. About a year ago she applied for and got the job of Director of the Recreation Commission, and they finally decided she was just over-burdened with work.  She's been working from 4 AM to 6 or 7 PM all that time, and never complaining.  So, while we will miss her sorely, I'm happy she won't have so much work now.  She hired a nice young man to take that job, named Zach.  He's very pleasant and knowledgable, so it's fine.

Our grandkids and the little girls are in Florida, visiting Mark and doing all the Disney stuff.  From the pictures Toni is posting, it looks like they are having a wonderful time!  :)

I had a call this morning that Beth's and John's stone will be set at the cemetery today.  So I will go out later this afternoon to see how it looks.

Hey!  Where are the rest of you?  Larry, Marilyn and I are getting lonely in here!  ;)

Carol

Prayers for all in pain.  Pat, we send our prayers for relief from your pain.

Larry:  Tucson can have snow - there are some mountains we can see and there was snow and even skiing.  Not at all like the normal abundance in the Rockies we are used to---  this year is a very dry year for the Rocky Mountains and it will mean critical watching of available water.  Not good news with the massive influx of people moving to Denver.

Judy:  Best to you and John.

Janet:  We do not care for the songs that the younger ones choose - they hardly ever play what my parents and I heard in church.  Best wishes to you on your new book.

Our daughter left yesterday with a 4 hour delay from winds in Denver - so she texted from the airport.  We dropped her off and headed to Costco - where Don stayed in the car after navigating the heavy traffic.  There is one lane you do not want to be in - it goes straight to Mexico and we both have to watch the fast traffic at that junction.  Whew!

We did drive to Yuma and had a super visit with my cousin & his wife who keep a little trailer in Yuma.  They used to go to Mexico for years taking vacations to work at an orphanage.  We always pray for each other and all our family members.  Now, it is our middle son who needs our prayers.  He needs a job - his dog just passed and there are more sad issues.  wishing I was home but we know that everything will be alright and we are not in control.

I am invited to a coffee at a neighbor's house this morning so I didn't wear my jeans.  Will change and keep on house cleaning later.

Carol

Janet:  Just saw your note - good news on the memorial for Beth.  Hugs to you.

Janet

Thanks so much, Carol.  I love hugs!

Janet I haven't lived in a mobile home since 2006 when IO first moved from southern California to McKinleyville. I am in Oregon now in a very large 4 bedroom house. I have been here since 2009  There is another room upstairs that houses all of Keith's  trains

Larry I always tastes Freckles food that I make for her. I am going to switch from white rice to brown rice though as soon as I run out of the whhite. I always used brown before I don't know why I switched.

I taught my first Tai Chi  class this morning, I took Keith with me and I had one student  shows up. I have known her for years and she is going to try to get some recruits from our yoga class to join us and some others as well. I don't go to Yoga class anymore, just too busy with furry friends and other things. In April there is going to be a two day seminar He will come from Florence ( up the cost about 50 miles) where he has his headquarters.

Hi Everyone.  After a very rainy day yesterday we are in for a nice clear sunny day which will only get up to about 57 this afternoon.  My plans for yesterday changed as by the time I left the dentists office I know I needed to wait until today to do the shopping at Costco.  Unfortunately at the dentist they found a small cavity that I get filled next month.  Yesterday evening Pat made a delicious French Onion soup for our dinner.  It called for a cup of wine but we didn't have that in the house so she used a cup of my breakfast cranberry raspberry drink and it made a delicious soup.  She used homemade croutons and three different cheese on top of the soup that was put under the broiler to melt the cheese.  This morning Scott is coming over to go with me to Costco and he is a big help and will carry in the purchases from the car when we get home.  This evening we are having fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and a dessert at our Wednesday night dinner at Church.  This is always a favorite meal.

Today we are going to have delivered the 7 new slide out shelves that will complete our lower cabinets and one for under Pat's side of the sink.  Hopefully Scott will feel up to installing part of them this evening when they come out after dinner.  We are also expecting delivery of the new telephone I ordered for Pat.  I put on a nitro patch this morning for the first time.  I am hoping it will help with the chest and arm pressure and discomfort and not give me a headache as the patches have when I used to have them applied while in the hospital.  Those were always applied on my upper chest and my cardiologist told me to apply them on my upper thigh so will see how that works out.

Janet, I wish we could share the rain with you but not to be.  We had such a nice slow rain yesterday that it all must have soaked in.  I think we had less than an inch.  I haven't put my gauge up for this year so not sure.  Glad you got started on your book as I understand that is usually the hardest part.  However, I know you are a good writer and it sounds like John will be collaborating with you which will present a different perspective.

Carol, I wonder how some of these big cities are going to deal with the water shortages that the droughts are creating in your area and other places.  South Carolina is also experiencing drought conditions in parts of the State.  I am not too concerned about us not having water as we are located right on the Savannah river and our water comes from the county North of us and I think they get their water from a big dam that is upriver on the Savannah River.  Like you I prefer the old Hymns that I grew up with and have sung all of my life.  I hope your son finds a job to his liking soon.

Marilyn, is Keith still interested in his trains? Sorry that more folks didn't show up for you class but most things start out small.  What is your seminar about?

Talking of dentists, my annual is coming up very soon, just after my birthday this month...

At last this months brand new MS social is on tonight, outside our County, a lot further to travel, but worth it...Really looking forwards to it, they stress that their meetings are happy and they laugh a lot...if like last months, my first meeting, I can definitely vouch for that, the atmosphere was good...

On the subject of pain...every day I live with MS pain, various parts of the body, none will ever leave me...I need our MS social group evenings, I cant say it makes me feel better but, being around other MS'rs does make one feel they fit in...and if we can still find amusement and the occasional laughter, all the better but this isn't the same atmosphere at my more local MS gathering...hardly anyone smiles or seems too happy...

Marilyn, I don't think I ever read anything about your current house.  And if so, please forgive my forgetfulness.  I was just concerned for your safety, as electrical problems do cause terrible consequences sometimes.  Sorry only one showed up for your class, maybe you will have several next time.  You do stay busy!  Good for you, I'm glad you are in good health and can do the things you enjoy.

Larry, I hope the patch helps you feel better, and without headaches!  I was just telling Darrel we need to plan a road trip to the Carolinas and visit you!
Hope Scott will have time to help you install the shelves.  It's so good you live near him now--good for him and good for you and Pat!

I had a little conversation with our Pat.  She's still battling lots of pain,
and it sounds like she is going to have hip replacement surgery soon.

We have Dr. app't. in Liberal today; see you tomorrow!

Janet...a good morning to you, or a good afternoon from me...

Janet after last months, my very first, I noticed how hard, how uncomfortable their wooden chairs were, also how very low...so I have taken it on myself to hunt down ( on the internet ) some cheap, bargain comfy cushions which I shall be donating to them tonight...I hope I am not being to pushy and they will welcome them so that others can use them either for sitting on or for resting their backs...all in all I shall be taking in six, one I shall be keeping for my own use, just hope they have storage as the venue room I am assuming gets hired out, just dont want to have to bring them home only to take back again next month...
I am not sure how far six will go as I estimate a good 30 plus of us, six to eight large tables, six to seven people per table, at least one I noticed sitting at the end in his own mobility chair...although I am assuming not all have MS, guessing some are their hubby's or wives... But I do want to show my commitment to this group...

My more local group have a mixture of varying comfy armchairs, with several varying cushions along with the wooden tables that the committee members often sit along...I am sure at some point these armchairs and cushions have been donated...

Good morning everyone.  I was down to visit a friend south of us on Monday.  As a child my best friend lived in the same town.  I decided after I left visiting that I would explore the old haunts.  My friend's home is gone as is the house beside it and a mansion built in its place.  The church we would go to was still there but the parsonage is gone and a mansion in its place.  Her school which was at one point a one room schoolhouse then extended to include rooms for all grades, is now boarded up.  It is a sad commentary of the expectations of the generation we are living in.

After leaving the town I went on down and visited Pat,  She is in a lot of pain and is looking forward to having the hip replacement done.  we had a lovely visit talking about my time in N. Ireland and our plans for a trip to Holland and England in 2021. we had a good visit.

Talking about mansions has reminded me about the song I've got a mansion. I will see if I can find it!

Jacqueline

Mine ( mansion ) is out there somewhere...if any of you find it, please let me know so it can be returned to me....

Thank you Judy...Elvis sung many Gospel's...

My goodness!  How young and handsome was Elvis in that photo!!

My mansion isn't on this earth, but in heaven, where moth and rust do not corrupt nor thieves break through and steal.  And my Beth is waiting over there to welcome me.  So I have much for which to be thankful!

Do you think about your mansion (or room) in heaven?  I do, sometimes. And I wonder how it will look.  Knowing our Lord knows us intimately; all our hopes and dreams, all our likes and dislikes, every color we find pleasing;what kind of furniture we like--everything!  Can you imagine or picture what He is preparing for us?  It will be beautiful beyond description!!

We had a good trip to LIberal.  Dr. Leidich always wants to visit with us after we have been on a trip, and it is so nice to not feel we are being rushed.
He is so friendly and pleasant, a genuinely nice fellow.

Then we met Jeff (son in law) for lunch at Wendy's and had a lovely visit with him.  He always shares what the Lord is directing him to do, and how his businesses are doing; also what he is hearing from his son Mark in Florida.  The time goes much too quickly, but I'm happy he likes spending time with us.

We stopped in Hugoton to see Diane, always good to see my daughter!  She is getting her greenhouse ready for Spring, will soon be very busy planting and transplanting flowers and vegetables!

Now we're home, groceries all put away and about to leave for Wednesday night dinner at the church.  Ham tonight!

See you in the morning!

Judy:  thanks for the gospel music.  It sounds great - now, they (church) wants to play heavy beat music and words are the same - over and over.  So boring.   ::)

I came in to check out Pat's condition.  From all I have heard, the hip replacement goes very well.  All the best to Pat!

Twice interruptions here - a friend dropped by and gave me rice and kale -then a phone call  from daughter another call from middle son - I tried to finish vacuuming and just made it.  A pair of slacks is awaiting my sewing on the hems and the vacuum needs a new filter so on to search in google.  Always something.  We are blessed.

Jacqueline

In hindsight, who needs a mansion? as long as at the end of my days I am back with the people who mean most to me,
my family and more so my dogs, Petra, Megan and Benji, I wont care whether its a mansion or not...A mansion is what we make it, it is some place that is filled with happiness and love..

Hi Everyone. We woke up to a really chilly morning and we had a freeze last night.  Today we will get only into the low 50's but it is a nice sunny and clear day with no wind.  The only thing on the agenda for today is to go to coffee.  The old fellow I pick up to go to coffee with me celebrated his 88th birthday last night and everyone at the dinner sang Happy Birthday to him.  His daughter had brought in cupcakes and he called me over to his table and shared one with me and one for Pat although Scott actually ate here.  Later today I think Pat and I go and both have hair cuts. We did have a nice dinner last night at the Church.  The fried chicken was very tasty.

Scott has a new tenant for his apartment at the back of his house and I invited him to come and have dinner with us and then he came out for the evening and played Farkle with Pat and Jennifer while Scott put in a couple of the shelves.  In the other cabinets the top shelf is removable which makes putting in the bottom sliding shelf fairly easy.  However, the ones he worked on last night had the top shelf permanently attached so the bottom shelf was very difficult.  After he had installed it we found that it was too wide and I should have gotten one not as wide.  So that one will come out and we will use it in the bathroom.  Pat did get her new phone and it is really nice as has big numbers and a larger screen on the front.  She can also answer and end a call without opening the lid and it has three present numbers.  I think she is really going to like it.

Jackie, going to the dentist isn't a very nice birthday present to yourself.  :)  I hope you had a great time at the MS social last night and very thoughtful of you to purchase the chair cushions.  It is good medicine to laugh and being with a supporting group of people is also very healthy.

Janet, I wore the patch all day and until I went to bed last night.  In the afternoon I sensed a slight headache and took a couple of Tylonol and it never developed.  It kept the heart discomfort in check yesterday. This morning I woke up feeling better than I have for a couple of months.  Don't know whether that has anything to do with the patch but plan on continuing to wear one daily.  I do hope you and Darrel will come over our way as we would love to have you visit and South Carolina has a lot of things to visit such as Charleston and Myrtle Beach, neither of which we have never visited and pretty sure we never will as no longer are up to any sightseeing trips.

Judy, glad you were able to check on Pat and sure hope she can have the hip replacement sooner rather than later.  My wife had that done a several years ago and it went very well as did her knee replacement.  It is tough going back to where we grew up and see what has changed and what is no longer there.

Jackie and Janet, the only mansion I look forward to is after this life. I wouldn't take a mansion if it were offered as keeping a smaller home is a lot of work in maintenance and cleaning.

Carol, do you like kale?  Pat bought a big bag of it not long after we moved here and fixed some of it and didn't like it at all.  We ended up putting in down the garbage disposal and ended up clogging up the disposal.  It seems to be the fad of this time period in restaurants and recipes.  It sounds like those were pleasant interruptions you had.

Hooray for Larry's feeling better!  Thank you, Lord!  I would love to visit both North and South Carolina, as I've heard a lot about the beauty there.  The BIG draw is to visit you and Pat, though.  I guess to make that happen, we shouldn't plan any more out-of-country trips, and just plan to drive, taking it easy and stopping wherever we are drawn!  It sounds lovely!  Glad Scott got started on installing the shelves for you!

Jackie, so sweet of you to donate the cushions, thereby making some other people more comfortable, too.  When we visited the church we used to attend, I was really happy to see they had purchased comfortable Church chairs to replace the "mini torture chamber" white plastic ones they had formerly!  How was your social last night?  You're right, if a home is filled with love and contentment, the feeling of "home" then it feels like a mansion!  My little house is, but the bible promises even better when we reach our heavenly home!  And THAT has to be something really glorious!
I can hardly wait!  But on the other hand, God still has things for me to do here before He calls me home, so I am content.

Carol, hello and a big hug to you today!  You are very special to me!  And we need to meet ASAP, too!

Time to go to the gym!!

I had a hard time in flogging, I mean, distributing my donated cushions...no one seemed to be interest, I stood up with cushions on the table crying out to the 19 people who turned up, there are cushions going spare here, I almost had to push them onto people who were near me, the ones who did hold out their hands as to show they could do with one... ;D They have no means to a store cupboard so would have meant to bring them back home but thankfully one younger and non MS lady who was sitting side of me offered to take them home and either she or someone she mentioned would bring them in next month...although these cushions were meant for MS'ers, she took two, one to sit on, one for her back, think she felt she was doing me a favour...I did get a mention of my good deed, and a gratitude clapping ovation...

Last nights meeting was more of last years agenda, the expenditure-donations-accounts-2017 balance etc comparing to 2016's...They now have their completed years agenda but with just one empty month to still fill...I took in printed papers of a fairground lady, family concern who is local to the 2 to 3 surrounding counties who came to my local MS centre and gave a very enjoyable and very humerus talk on the pre-war days of the family fun fair beginning of last year...They took my papers and read out to us all that they will be considering how to contact her so as to get her to do a video screen talk...again my Idea went down well...

Good morning everyone. We are both doing well although my back is giving me problems, that never changes, I went to the chiropractor last Wednesday and by Friday  it had slipped put again. I have to pay the 20% that Medicare doesn't pay every time I go. They don't do billing. so i can't afford to go  more than once a month therefore, I take my Meloxicam every few days. I don't like to take it every day.

Keith went to my Tai chi class with me on Tuesday, I hope I can get him to go with me every time he needs something to do and exercise too. On the comming Tuesday I hope more students show up. there was only one other person there and that was a good friend of mine.

This morning Freckles and I are going out to Charleston ( The Fishing community out by the ocean) with two other teams of human  and dog. we will be presenting a class to the Head Start kids on caring  for their pets and safety around loose dogs. How to approach a dog on a leash and what not do do around a loose dog. We even teach them how to pick up some fake poop using a bag.

The wind is really blowing here today with gust up to 40-50 mph, the temperature isn't too bad at 55? right now but rain is coming again.

Hi, friends,

I've been working on a quick report to the new owners of our apartments. I have a 10:40 appt tomorrow morning to meet with them.

So, I'm thankful that the old computer is still working pretty well, and that I have Microsoft Office which works well, even though it is out of date now.

That's okay, they don't make old folks like me either, so an old computer and old software and I seem to work well together.  :)

Y'all have a good day

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful sunny day here and headed into the low 60's this afternoon.  I have an eleven am appointment this morning for my semi-annual pacemaker check.  It is a very quick check.  On my way I plan on stopping off at Costco to drop off the ink cartridge to have it filled and then will stop back by on the way home from my appointment to pick it up.  I will grab a bite to eat while there.  This is the day for the housekeeper so we might go out for our main meal sometime this afternoon. I did get a haircut yesterday and Pat is going this morning and the stylist she likes wasn't there yesterday but it today.

I watched a lot of basketball yesterday afternoon late and last evening.  I plan on doing the same today.  This is the weekend for the Conference Playoffs.  I see our South Carolina University team lost their game.  It was a late game so I didn't watch it. I just fixed Pat her breakfast and used our new toaster oven for the first time to make a piece of toast.  Initially I couldn't understand why it wasn't heating and then realized I hadn't plugged it in.  We don't like to keep this type of appliance plugged in all the time so usually unplug it after use.

Janet, that is great news that you will be planning a trip to my part of the country.  There are also many interesting things to see in Georgia such as the great aquarium in Atlanta, the Coca Cola provision and many other places to see.  I did have a good day yesterday and expect the same today.

Jackie, I can't even imagine that folks did jump at the chance to get one of your cushions to sit on if the chairs are uncomfortable.  It seems storage space is always a problem in places where we can meet.  Glad to see they recognized your good deed.  Nice that you had a good program suggestion as coming up with good programs can be a real task.

Marilyn, you sound like Pat and what Stacey used to experience with the chiropractic treatments.  They provided great relief but it didn't last very long.  Look forward to reading your report on the visit to the Head Start group and I bet that was a lot of fun.

Ruth Ann, hope your report for the new management goes well.  Glad your computer and printer are still working well.

Carol

Larry:  The Kale was chopped and mixed with brown/red rice.  I added a little butter for taste and it was good.

Ruth Ann:   :) nice to see you.

I am waiting for a roof inspector concerning our leak over the bathroom.  It is a tile roof and  this is the roofing company that insurance recommended.  This bill will all be on us.  We have been ready since 7:30 AM as they gave us that early time until 1:30 PM.  I had them confirm - it just doesn't sound right.

Janet:

Carol

Back again - pardon the lapse.

Janet:  You have barely returned and rested and planning more trips.  Good for you.  Don and I find ourselves just "tuckered out" so many days and can't figure out why this happens.  visiting and driving takes us more than a day to recover anymore.  How do you do it?

Larry:  I forgot to ask what make of phone Pat is using.  Mine is an iPhone that daughter used and we get the hand-me-downs.  Usually, it is great but this one accidentally dials or other strange things happen so I wouldn't mind going back to a usable flip top.

Janet

Carol, since we didn't cross the International Date Line on this trip, we didn't have jet lag.  And we have been home for two weeks now.  I'm just making wishful plans right now about the Carolinas/Georgia area, as I know we cannot go until probably next year,
since we already have two more trips coming up in 2018.  But before leaving on a road trip, I do want to try to find all /or most of the neat things and places to see.  Otherwise, we will only see white lines on black pavement!

Larry, so glad you are continuing to feel better!   :)  Keep it up!  ;)

I had two appointments today and had to wait for both gals, so I'm behind on things here!  Talk to you later!

Janet

Larry, it seems I have gotten in the door before you today!  Good morning, when you do pop in!

I'm up, have done my devotions and am ready to leave for my painting meeting.  However, it is still dark outside, so I guess I'd better wait a while.
I have to be in Lakin at 8:00, and that's 30 minutes, so I have a few yet.
Good time to stop in and say hello to you all.

Carol, I attribute a LOT of the reason Darrel and I are feeling better to our drinking a product called Zeal.  We have both experienced so much improvement in our overall health and well-being since we started on this product.  If you and Don would like to try it, I'd be happy to send you some free samples.  Most people can feel a real difference in as little as 20 minutes after drinking a sample.  And I'm noticing more and more things getting better as time goes by.  It's the only thing Darrel has been "sold" on enough to remember to take it without my having to remind or hand it to him!  You can google Zurvita--that's the name of the company, if you want more information.  I think it's a really wonderful product!

And speaking of Zeal, it's time for me to mix today's with water and drink it!!   :) ;)

Gotta run!

Hi Everyone. The morning is starting out very nicely with sunshine and the temperature in the 40's.  I expect we will get to 70 this afternoon but the forecast says mostly cloudy all day long.  The only thing I plan on doing today is attending a meeting this morning and then sometime this afternoon or early evening Pat are going to go out for our main meal.  We got a coupon yesterday for Ruby Tuesdays that if you bought one entree at regular price you could get a free burger.  That may be an offer too good to  pass off up we won't make that decision until it is time to go to eat.  I had a very busy morning yesterday as I stopped at Costco and dropped off the ink cartridge and then drove to the doctor's office and got there just at the time of my appointment.  However, the tech didn't call me back until about 11:30.  All was fine with my pacemaker/defibrillator.  The tech, a very pleasant young fellow, took the time to explain and show me on the monitor what they look for and what it means, which really was never done before in the 13 years I have had one of these devices.  It showed I still have 2.4 years of battery life before the device will have to be replaced.  When I left there I went back to Costco and picked up the ink cartridge and then went over to the food court and had lunch.  After resting I spent the rest of the day and early evening watching the college basketball games.  Today is the semi-finals of the tournaments so will be watching more this afternoon.

Yesterday Scott sent a text saying the house next to his was burning to the ground.  Other than getting some smoke in his house and losing part of his fence between the properties his property wasn't bothered.  I was sure glad the wind wasn't blowing yesterday.

Carol, I know that Kale is a part of the cabbage family but it just didn't have a pleasing taste.  Pat used a recipe and we ate part of it but decided that was enough.  Glad yours was good.  I hope the roof inspector finally got there and the news wasn't too bad.  You and Don do more traveling than Pat and I have done in several years when our trips have been limited to 2 1/2 hours over to Atlanta, which we haven't done now for a long time, or trips halfway to meet friends for lunch.  We hope to do the halfway trip again in April sometime.  We just don't have the stamina we used to have.  Pat's new phone is a VOCA V530 model.  So far she really likes it but still trying to learn how to get to all the features.  It has a pretty loud ring but great voice quality.  I am surprised that your iPhone can call out while it is locked unless the lock is turned off and I am not sure that is even possible.  One of the really nice features is that you don't have to open the cover to answer an incoming call or end it as there are buttons on the cover for it.

Janet, I felt really good yesterday and did a lot of things.  Last evening I was sitting in my easy chair and the weariness hit me but feel good again this morning.  I see I wasn't the only one who had a wait for a scheduled appointment.  I hope you have a great time at your painting class this today.

Honey!!  I'm home!!!   :D ;D 8)

We had such a nice day today painting in watercolors.  Every one turned out nice, and no two looked alike!  I'm going to cut a mat for mine, then I will take a photo of it and post it, and you all can tell me what you think!

Larry, glad your weariness passed and you felt good again this morning.

Since I posted this morning, if I remember correctly, I haven't much to say this evening!

Hi Everyone. The morning is started at in the mid-40's and will only get into the low 60's this afternoon and we have varying changes of rain until late this evening when as of now they are saying 100% chance of rain.  I did remember to reset the alarm clock last evening when I went to bed and then the clock on the stove and my wrist watch this morning.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church and think Pat will go with me today as she is up and eating her breakfast now. We will go out to eat afterward, probably back to Ruby Tuesday's as they had a good deal starting today and Monday.  Last evening we decided to go to Dairy Queen for our evening meal and it was good topped off with a mint Oreo Blizzard.  Then I was able to return the phone we had purchased there for Pat that didn't work well at all.  The Dairy Queen is on the outer property from the Walmart so it was very handy.  This afternoon I will rest and watch a little more basketball, which I watched quite a bit of yesterday.

Janet, I am anxious to see your new painting and happy to see you enjoyed a nice day yesterday.  Were you all painting the same object or scene or did you get to pick your own design.  Can you enter it into the County fair this fall?

Janet

Larry, yes, I could enter the watercolor in the fair, if I don't have another by then that I like better.  We did all paint the same subject; no two looked alike!  And none of the other gals are from my county, thus, there wouldn't be two that are similar.  Our art department in adult painting has diminished so much in the past 10 years, the rules have been relaxed quite a bit.  It's either that, or eliminate it; and nobody wants that!

John forgot to set his clock up, so he missed church today.  Darrel had already done ours before I got home yesterday.  I need to set my watch up, or I'll be in trouble, for sure!  ;)

I don't know what's in store for lunch, but Darrel has been busy in the kitchen since we got home from church!  I'm sure whatever he's making will be good!

We have a meeting tonight with Dr. Saxon and the lady I'm sharing a Zeal booth with next Saturday.  Meeting them tonight at Saxon Chiropractic clinic.

And on Tuesday I am meeting a pastor friend who also writes books. I'm hoping he can give me some useful information on self-publishing.  Tate Publishing, who published my other book is out of business.  The parents retired and turned it over to the son, and it didn't last long after that.  Sad, but that often happens with family businesses, it seems.  :(

Now I'm off to read more of my journals; combing for material for the book I'm writing.  I hope you all have a blessed afternoon!

Carol

Yesterday, I put 7 plastic bags of grapefruit out near the sidewalk - two were not picked up.  We will pick more - the little tree is loaded and Don cannot take grapefruit - these are Ruby Red and so sweet.

I rode with our friend to the airport and just picked up her daughter who will visit for a week plus.

Janet:  Thanks for the offer - I will check it out.  My tiredness is mostly from housework, etc.  At least I like to think so -

Larry:  Thank you for mentioning the phone - I will check that also.

Yesterday, most of the morning was spent on fixing my old but dependable Viking sewing machine.  Almost giving up and one last attempt and suddenly everything worked perfectly.

Our oldest son and DIL are still coughing but they can now say they are on their way to recovery from colds.  our youngest son has a dreadful cold (he is never sick) and has been to a doctor twice.  There is something different about the colds this year - the colds last much too long and everyone is super weak.

Listened early to a sermon - it isn't the same as being there.  Two Jehovah Witnesses, stopped by yesterday.  They were polite and we had a little chat about Isiah.  I don't know anything about their version of religion.  I remember the time Don was on the roof working on it and I saw a car full of them drive up - I was leaving and Don was stuck on the roof while they talked and talked -

Janet

Ruby Red grapefruit???  Oh, Carol!  How I wish I had some!  I love them, and we never seem to find good ones in the stores around here!  Makes my mouth water, just thinking about them!

Hope all your loved ones recover from their sicknesses soon!!

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. I slept in this morning until almost 8 am.  It is a dark, cool and rainy morning with a 50% chance of more rain throughout the day.  I plan to just stay inside and have a restful day.  When I finish my normal readings and writing on the discussions I think it may be a good day to recheck and perhaps finish up my income taxes for last year.  Pat didn't go to Sunday School with me but I came home and got her and she went back to Church with me.  We then did go to Ruby Tuesday's again and had a nice lunch utilizing the coupon for the free hamburger which made a very reasonable lunch tab for two as it saved $10.

When we got home I laid down for a couple of hours but turned on the TV and watched the basketball games, which all seemed to be very close and very entertaining.  After those were over I turned on the golf and watched the conclusion of a good tournament.  Then I watched on Netflix a Barbra Streisand concert called Encore that she gave in Miami in 2016, which I really enjoyed.  I think that was the last touring concert she plans to ever do and she was 75 at the time. It was almost two hours long and while her voice isn't quite as good as it was 50 years ago it still is amazing and I really enjoyed it. Needless to say I didn't have any difficulty sleeping last night.

Janet, I guess the fact that all of you painting the same thing but ending up with painting where no two looked alike proves that we all see things differently as well as probably different skill levels.  Too bad your self-publishing company has gone out of business.  I hope your pastor friend can give you some good tips.

Carol, I am like Don in that I am not suppose to eat them and it has been years since I have.  The ones you have sound so good.  Nice of you to ride to airport with your friend and glad you didn't have to do the driving.  Is the Tucson airport very big?  I am sure it is nothing compared to Phoenix, which I know from my experience is very large.  I agree with you that this cough many people can't seem to shake (including the month it put me down) it very strange. When the Jehovah Witnesses how come to our door I speak to them politely but tell them I have my own Church and take their literature and say goodbye.

Janet

Larry, Tate Publishing wasn't a self-publishing company, but a "regular" one.  It cost me big bucks, and they didn't do the things they promised relative to getting the book out and helping with publicity.  I was very disappointed in them.  Warren (and Curtis) told me to check out CreateSpace on Amazon.  I did, but don't have all the necessary computer skills to do it alone.  Sigh......

It looks like it will be clear here today, which probably means warm, and I hope not windy, but it probably will be.  My weather bug says currently 18*
high to be 59.  Wind only 4 mph!  Wonderful!!

I just posted a photo of my painting on Facebook, if you would like to take a look!  :)

We have an appointment for the car in Garden today, and as usual, we have a list of things to do while there.  So I'm happy the weather is nice!

I hope more of you come in to post today!

Hello Every Buddy. I hit the floor running this morning and have accomplished  some of what really needs doing. I do think the floors need doing but I would like to hire someone to come twice a month for 2 hours to do some of the cleaning for me. This is going to be hard to get Keith to do. I am feeling a little down today for good reason. Yesterday I told Keith to get his cup out of the microwave, he stood in front of it and said which one is the microwave,  It has been in the same place for probably 30 years. It is not on the counter but at eye level on it's own shelf that was built for it when the kitchen was remodeled all those years ago. He has also started doing a very high pitched whistle that drive me crazy it hurts my ears. I have repeatedly told him not to do that but he  does it anyway saying it is a habit says  it calls the cats, Freckles doen't like it either and it does not call the cats. He thinks he is OK and will not consent to doing the legal documents that are necessary.

I never mind chatting with anyone about God and have had some interesting conversations over the years.  It is hard to break away though.  I had two roommates when living in Washington D.C. and one was Catholic and the other Mormon.  We did get stuck listening to a flannel board discussion one night - and the Catholic girl and I were not interested.

Gently and carefully, transplanted two little cactus into a clay shallow bowl.  I put solar lights around the edges and we shall see if they last over the hot summer.  Called a friend at home and I try to check in with others as well.  So grateful for the phone service we now get that doesn't cost extra for long-distance.

Doorbell is ringing and Don says it is a neighbor.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  It was 32 degrees when I got up and suppose to go on down to 30 around 8 am and then up to about 60 this afternoon.  However, we do expect wind with the clear skies.  We will have to leave the house fairly early this morning as Pat has a 10:00 am appointment at the hospital for a bone density test.  After that we plan on eating our main meal out at noon before coming home.  I think we will go to either the Honey at the Rock or Texas Roadhouse as will be in the vicinity after being at the hospital.  Nothing else on the schedule for the rest of the day.

Janet, I will definitely check out your Facebook page to see your new painting.  I did misunderstand about your previous book publisher.  As I read about your comments about publishing the book though the Amazon Create Space the thought occurred to me that perhaps you could locate a bright young high school student with computer skills who could help you and probably be glad to earn a few dollars.  I took a few minutes to looks through some of the basic information available on the CreateSpace website and it appears very doable.  Didn't you mention once that your sister had written a book?  If so how did she publish.  I realize I am getting into something that is really none of my business but just want to be helpful.

Marilyn, I feel for you with the concerns you have for Keith.  The tipping point that my dad had with my mother was the morning she stood at the sink with an egg in her hand to try to fix breakfast and threw it in the sink saying she didn't know what to do.  I think it was that day that my dad called me asking for help and we were on our way the next day and ended up staying for 9 months to help him out.  If you haven't done so please help yourself and contact the Alzheimer's Association in your area as they are so much help.  It sounds like you have a serious problem in terms of the legal aspects.  Does he not acknowledge that he is suffering from dementia or have any idea of what a burden he is placing on you and that it is get worse if you can't handle the business affairs.

Carol, I never really thought about transplanting cactus plants but it does sound like a challenge.  Cell phones have brought us a long way from where we used to be limited as to the distance our local phone service covered before long distance charges applied or even with cell phones where you didn't have unlimited talk time.

Janet

Carol and Larry, you have reminded me of how happy I was when our local phone company gave us free access to other towns in our area and no longer charged long distance for calling them.  I used to call my daughter in Moscow often and those charges really added up! (She lives in Hugoton now, but Curtis and Toni live in Moscow.)

Larry, I don't at all feel you are intruding; I always appreciate your suggestions!  And asking a bright kid may be the answer I need.  I will visit with my friend Warren this morning and hope I learn a lot from him as to the best options.  Shirley did self-publish, too, but I have forgotten what she told me.  She actually published four or five books!  I need to call her!

We had another very pleasant day yesterday, so appreciated!

Another lady and I are going to have a booth at the Health Fair on Saturday to tell people about Zeal.  It is helping Darrel and me so much, and we do need to help other people learn about the many benefits Zeal offers!  We only have to be there about four hours, so it won't be too much for us.  They close up everything and serve a nice dinner at noon (or lunch.)  ;)

Marilyn, I agree with Larry!  Your situation sounds serious, in dealing with Keith's problems.  If you got the papers ready that you need, could you maybe just get him to sign them?  I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this.  I have a friend whose husband is a "brittle" diabetic.  He broke his foot somehow a while back and did not go to the doctor (I don't really know why.) Infection set in, and he wound up having to have the foot amputated halfway up to the knee!  Now he is getting really bad with dementia.  I think it must have been partly that reason that he failed to see a doctor when he broke the foot.  So anyway, I pray you can get help for Keith before his problem gets any worse.  I cannot imagine how hard this is for you to deal with, and hope you can find answers.

I need to write three notes of love and encouragement, think I will do that now!

Larry and Janet, last night I went on the Legal Zoom website and  filled out the application and paid for the Power of attorney that covers  EVERYTHING They will go over it an  mail it to me  for him to sing in front of a notary which we can do at our bank. I told him I was doinmg that and that I had to put it on my credit card. So to my thinking he better sign it since I went to the trouble of  getting it for him.  There is one part I don't really thing needs to be on the PIA and that is the part about  owning a business, that doesn't apply anymore. But i checked off everything on the form. Just pray that he signs it after it gets here so I can go file it with the county recorder.

Hi Everyone.  We have a sunny and clear day ahead with it getting into the mid-50's.  We had freeze warnings out for our area last night but I don't think it got that cold.  Last evening Pat and I went back to iHop for our dinner meal.  I had a Belgian waffle with a scoop of ice cream on top rather than syrup (and it was delicious) along with two scrambled eggs and two sausage links.  The combination was very good and I will have that again.  Pat had a bowl of their chicken noodle soup and found it very good along with spicy chicken Quesadillas.  There is nothing on the schedule for today until this evening when we will be having our dinner at the Church and then Scott will be coming out.  Jennifer advised us yesterday that she was uncertain about being able to attend either the dinner or coming out later as she thinks she has another kidney stone.

Janet, I bet you will enjoy talking with the people at the health fair and the time will go by quickly.

Mariiyn, glad to see you got the legal process started and certainly hope Keith doesn't refuse to sign.  You are going to have challenges ahead and you need to be able to make the decisions he is not going to be able to make.  I expect the Legal Zoom is a lot less expensive than seeing a local attorney.

Carol

We watched the movie of Cori Ten Boom last night.  She lived in Amsterdam - a Christian family - and the family took in German targeted people.  She and at least one sister were sent to concentration camp - the one for women only.  Her sister died in camp.  An amazing test of faith.  She lived to write books of courage and love and visited 60 countries.  I read her years ago and now want to search out the books again.

The roof repair is scheduled and it will be a great relief to get that taken care of - the last week of March.  One cousin and wife are visiting us at the end of the month and our oldest son and DIL will meet us for dinner next Sunday.  they are preparing to move back to Colorado.

Janet

Windy-very windy-here today with another warning of extreme fire danger.  It was pretty chilly early this morning.

Larry, we ate at I-Hop in Garden last Monday.  We rarely eat there, but that was my choice; unfortunately we were both disappointed.  We each had the Sr. 2x2x2 meal, and the pancakes weren't up to their usual standard, also they served about half the usual amount of butter.  Darrel asked for more, and by the time she brought more, his pancakes were cold.  So it will be a while before we go there again.  He likes to eat at what he calls "the chicken house"--Golden Corral.  I like to change things up sometimes!  ;)

Carol, I've read Corrie Ten Boom's books several times.  Such a woman of faith and courage!  Her father was also arrested but didn't live very long under their brutal conditions.

Glad you will soon get your roof repaired.  I imagine it's really hard for Don to wait for others to do the things he has always done for himself.  Darrel finally decided to get the oil changed in the car, after many years of doing it himself.  He hates getting his hands that grimy, and said he guessed he's old enough now to let someone else do it!

I have been at the Main Artery today, painting.  Still working with watercolor and it's  beginning to get a little easier.  I cannot imagine how, but I have misplaced most of my watercolors, all the tubes and a few sets of pans.  :o How could I do that??  :idiot:

Marilyn, I hope Keith will sign the Power of Attorney and not give you a hard time about it.

Tonight our Wednesday night supper at church is potato bar!   :P

Hi Everyone.  Today starts are as a very chilly 32 degrees but will be getting into the 50's later today.  We also have a fire warning as our humidity is to be between 15 and 20% today.  This morning I will pick up my friend from assisted living and we will go downtown for coffee.  Before I pick him up I will make a quick stop at Walmart to pick up some prescriptions for both Pat and I.  This afternoon I plan on attending the funeral service for the wife of one the men who is in our coffee group.  Then I will watch some of the basketball games as the big NCAA Tourney gets underway.

After dinner at the church last night we picked up our grocery order from Walmart and Scott came on out to the house.  Jennifer is sick and stayed home where she needed to be.  Scott was here for only an hour or so and he wasn't feeling up to par.  We had beef stew at dinner and beef often riles up his IBS as it did last evening.

Carol, glad to see you finally have the roof repair scheduled.  Is this a job move back to Colorado for your son and DIL?

Janet, we also had a lot of wind yesterday and are to have it again today so we also have the fire alerts as I mentioned above.  Sorry your I-Hop experience wasn't a good one.  I sure hope the quality doesns't go down at our new I-Hop as so far it has been very good.  It has been several years since I have been to the Golden Corral.  Our men's luncheon group ate there numerous time where we lived in Georgia.  There is one of the Golden Corral's here but not close to us and I doubt we seek it out and Pat really needs to be served and not have to deal with a buffet, at least a large one.  I expect you will find your paints and supplies after you replace them or don't need them. I guess that is the danger of straightening things up at our age as we forget where we put things.  :)

Good morning! I have been coughing so much it's wearing me out, so after Darrel got up and brought me some Nyquil last night, that quieted my cough and knocked me out until 5 this morning.
I got up, but was still staggering around and needing sleep, so I went back to bed and stayed until 8.   :o :o  That's really the middle of the morning to me!
But I think I'm somewhat better now.  I will take Zeal three times today, and take it easy, as I must be over this crud by Saturday!  Patsy is depending on me to help with the booth!!

Darrel took the car back to Garden City today to have a battery replaced in the parking brake.  Lots of miles for a tiny thing, but the warning light and buzzer were very annoying!  We told them about it the other day when we got the oil changed, and it took another hour before they came back and told us what it needed and of course, they didn't have the little battery, but called the next day to say it was in.  I like to go along with him, but just wasn't feeling up to it today.  (I know, TMI...sorry  :-[)

Larry, it sounds as if your area and ours are having similar weather, except for all the nice rains you have had recently.  We are still hoping!  :)

Yeaaaa!!  I found my paints last night--exactly where I put them, which was where they belonged.  Imagine that!  :-[  Well, now at least I know where they live!  ;)  So I could paint with watercolors for many years now and not run out of paints!

I saw John last night at the church dinner.  He's just been staying home a lot, and doing pretty much nothing.  I reminded him to begin writing  what he wants included in the book; and suggested he go to "pet finder" on computer to look for a dog.  He needs something  that will encourage him to get out of that apartment into the fresh air!

I need to see what I can do around here.  Talk to you later.

I set 12 bags of grapefruit out on the curb and all have been taken.  Yea....  This is a very little tree and it as 3 X that amount left on it.

Our good friend and her daughter came over last night - we are celebrating her big birthday almost all week.  We bought two pizzas for dinner and it was mild enough to sit outdoors. Reminiscing.  She knows a worker who could repair out indoor ceiling damage - the roofers only fix the outdoor spot.

Larry:  Oldest son and wife have rented for 3 years - she has a job with an international bank and will continue working from Colorado where they have a cabin in the mountains.  Everyone who flys out usually stays at our house because it is more convenient to get to the airport.  The mountain drive can be clogged - not to mention rock slides and construction.

Janet:  The colds this year are lasting a long time - sorry for your coughing spells.  They are exhausting.  I hope we can stay out of trouble.  If John is depressed, he  wouldn't make a very good caregiver for any animal.  Congrats on finding your paints!

Marilyn:  Perhaps you could have one of Keith's sons talk to him.

Janet

Carol, John doesn't appear to me to be depressed, but of course, I'm not a psychiatrist!  He has never shown much interest in doing anything since I've known him except spending time on computer.  You set my mouth to watering again, talking about those grapefruits!

I went back to bed, just got up again about 30 minutes ago.  Guess I will go shower and dress and see if that helps.  :-\

Didnt realise it has been so long sinse last time I posted, even though I often pop in to read up...

We are in for the return of " The Beast from the East " snow storm this weekend....this Is the name they have given it, by that, I am assuming our meteorological office...

Oh dear, not sure what I clicked on late yesterday evening, whatever is was I remember it wasn't anything that sent alarm bells ringing but, once clicked the screen jumped to a large red page complete with large filled writing and a male voiced warning repeating our computer was being attacked...Anyway we got through to our BT helpline who was calm and he got inside our computer and dealt with it, he said we had been mildly attacked, he has now cleared it out using " Malware " malicious software...then I ran the full Norton security scan just to satisfy me...

Hi Everyone.  We have a truly beautiful day ahead.  We will be getting up to 75 degrees this afternoon with sunny skies.  I had a great nights sleep last night and feel like a new person.  The night before I hadn't slept well and was very tired from the time I got up until I went to bed for the night.  I did go to coffee and then in the afternoon attended the funeral I mentioned yesterday.  I just plan on a nice quiet day at home today with some good basketball watching this afternoon and evening.  I need to finish up filing the taxes and need to work on Pat's laptop and update the spare I have here in my office, which I haven't had on for quite awhile.

Last night Pat dropped her new phone on the floor and the back came off and she wasn't able to find it.  I got down on the floor and looked under her chair and all around only to find it right in front of my side table in plain site.  With this wood flooring you never know where things are going to land.

Janet, so sorry to read that you have come down with the terrible cough and leaves one feeling so tired.  I hope you are able to stop it quickly as know it is holding on for a long while for some people, like me, where it lasted for a month.  The idea of a battery in a parking brake is something I have never heard of before.  Glad you found your paints.  It sounds like John has the right idea about getting a dog and that would require him to get out of his apartment.

Carol, that sounds like a very prolific grapefruit tree.  Glad the fruit is being eaten rather than just going to waste.  It is better to get a reference from someone for a workman than just getting it from the Internet yellow pages.  Years ago we had a bathroom upstairs that was over one downstairs as the house had two identical master suites.  It had a water leak and we didn't realize it until part of the downstairs ceiling sagged and water came pouring out.  We were fortunate to find someone who did the popcorn type ceiling and was able to restore the ceiling back to as good as new.  Will your son and DIL be relocating to an area near to you or in some other part of the Denver area.

Jackie, glad to see your posting.  Days seem to go by so quickly that I don't sometimes realize someone hasn't posted for a few days.  Glad your computer didn't get major damage and the problem could be corrected without a complete reinstall of the software.  Do you have your files backed up?  Gloria in the Seniors and Friends Soda Shoppe mentioned yesterday that the NE USA is now expected to get another nor'easter storm in the next few days.  Winter seems to be hanging on and there are only a few more days before Spring.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi friends,

It's a beautiful day today in Nashville. I was outside getting in groceries that I was too tired to bring in yesterday.

My son who sings country music in Houston has lost over 100 lbs in Weight Watchers, so that magazine wrote an article about him. I received the magazine a friend sent today. I was very proud of him.

Y'all have a good day.

Much love to everyone.

Congratulations to your son, Ruth Ann!  Losing that much weight will likely change his life in good ways!  Glad you have the WW magazine with the article about him.

It was nice here, too, except for the wind!

Tomorrow is the Health Fair, and I'm hoping our Zeal booth will bring us a good number of contacts.  We went out and set things up today.

They're still playing basketball!   :) K-State!   :) :)  Hope they win!

...well done to your son, that is 7 stone...
...please also tell your son from me, from an ( overweight and next week 67 year old lady ) who needs to lose at least 2 to 3 stone...he certainly has a whole lot of determination, which paid off, he succeeded...

Well no sign of snow as yet but we are due it in the south over this weekend before it warms up again...I am assuming, this will be the last we see of " The Beast from the East " as it has now been named...

Hi Everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day.  We are having rain today and just heard a clap of thunder.  There is a big St. Patrick's Day parade planned for downtown Augusta this morning.  Hopefully the rain won't dampen the spirits of the parade (probably not a word that should be used in this context on this day as expect there will be plenty of spirits consumed as there are numerous places to do that on the main street of Augusta).

Pat and I both had a good day yesterday.  However, today I don't seem to have any energy so plan on just staying in and resting.  I have fixed Pat's breakfast and mine and need to grind up some more cheddar cheese and that will probably be it for today.  I will miss my weekly meeting this morning but they will survive without me.

Ruth Ann, what a wonderful achievement for your son and nice that his achievement was recognized by the magazine article.  I used the Weight Watcher's for men diet plan several years ago and lost the weight I wanted to lose.  I should do it again but just not motivated at this time.

Janet, I expect by the time you read this your work at the Health Fair will be over.  I sure hope you had good results.  I watched the K-State game yesterday and they looked good and did win, as I am sure you know.  There was a real upset last evening when Virginia, the number one team and expected to win the Championship, lost to a number 16 team, the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus.  This was the first time that has ever happened in the history of the tournament.  I did watch that game as it came on late. This is the team that will now play Kansas State tomorrow.

Jackie, maybe you will be fortunate and the snow will miss your area entirely as although from what you said it doesn't sound likely that you won't get the snow.

A. Regular rocks are too heavy.

A. Because they're always a little short.

Q. How can you tell if an Irishman is having a good time?
A. He's Dublin over with laughter!

Happy Saint Patrick's day everyone. Keith and I did our regular Walmart grocery run this morning after breakfast. We like to go early. After getting all the groceries put away I took Freckles for a walk in the mall. It his been rainy and cold here so the mall was a nice warm friendly walk. We stopped and visited with people that we know in the various shops and the vendors in the mall walkway.

I  had 3 people come to my Tai chi class on Friday that was so much better than Tuesday when no one showed up and I  had waited for a it to see if anyone would come before I left. I will be taking the instructors certification class over the 15th and 16TH OF April. It is a all day class both days of just doing and perfecting Tai Chi. I may be 78 years old but one is never too oldd to learn something and I have been doing Tai chi  for several years 4 here and 5 in California.

I hope everyone is having a grand meal for St Patrick's day, we are going to have Filet Mignon for supper instead of the traditional Corned beef, Which is always good, but too salty anymore. I don't cook with salt because Keith has Hypertension and I usally have to drink  a lot of water to get the sodium out of my system.

I'm back home, tired out but happy.  We had lots of interest in the Zeal, and have 48 names and numbers to contact.  We were not allowed to sell anything at the Health Fair, only to share information.
I figure if we get 15% of the people to agree to try Zeal for a month, we did great!  I would have been home much earlier, but stayed for the Pioneer Electric meeting.  There is always hope you may win a prize, but that didn't happen.  :)

I know for sure I got one customer today, so will be contacting her on Monday!  :D  We never had a chance to sit down at all, from about 7 to 11:30, and by then I was ready to eat the food we'd been smelling for over an hour!  They served brisket, mashed potatoes green beans, salad, and chocolate or white cake, coffee or tea.  Really good!

Darrel showed up in time to help us take things down and haul it to the cars,
and stayed for lunch.  I sure do appreciate that man!  8)

Larry, I did see the end of the K-State game, was happy they won.  Hope they can win again!  We shall see.

Abby is coming home tonight.  She got a new job and had to work until 3, but Jeff called and invited us to lunch tomorrow at their house, so we get to see her!  Goody!!

Cute jokes, Larry!  Speaking of the wearing o' the green, we wanted to wear green today, and that's the one color I do not have in my closet!  But I found a blouse and a necklace that were Beth's, green was her favorite color, so I had something green to wear after all.  I have never been fond of wearing green.  Maybe it's time to expand my horizons!?!

I'm going to try to take a little nap now.  Not enough sleep last night,
and I was up at 4:15 AM. :sleepy

Hi Everyone.  It looks like it is going to be a very nice Sunday here in South Carolina with sun and getting up to about 75 degrees this afternoon.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church.  I have emptied the dish washer and in a few minutes will fix Pat's breakfast and my own.  Beyond Church and getting something out for lunch my only plan for the rest of the day is to watch some more of the basketball games.  I saw some really good ones yesterday as a number of the games were very close.  It was evening before I started feeling better yesterday and got up feeling OK this morning. However, I was able to finish up and file our income taxes yesterday.

Jackie, from what you said today is the day you get the big snow storm.  I hope you don't get snowed in.  Your area is probably like ours in that your local government doesn't have the equipment to deal with snow as seldom needed.

Marilyn, I also like to shop at Walmart early in the morning as can usually get a riding cart and get my shopping done quickly.  Nice you have a good place to walk inside when needed.  It sounds like your class will grow as more people become aware of it.  The class you will be taking sounds very intensive and all day is a long time to be in class.  We did not have the corn beef and cabbage yesterday as Pat wanted an onion to cook with it and we are out of them.  Instead we had some chili that was in the freezer (thawed out of course), fresh vegetables and dip and some delicious chocolate cream pie.

Janet, glad your Health Fair went so well and you ended up with contacts.  If I recall you have been the winner of those prizes in the past.  That sounds like it was a good meal they served.  Is Abby on spring break from school?  I don't have anything in my wardrobe that is green either and I am part Irish.   Shame on me.  They were able to have the nice St. Pat's day parade in Augusta yesterday as the rain had stopped by the time the parade began.

Janet

Larry, your saying you are part Irish reminded me that I am, too!  I had sort of forgotten about that!  Your chili supper sounded good to me!  Glad you are feeling better again.

Since we get out of church so early, and haven't formed the habit of going to small groups or Sunday School after church, I had time to make a salad to take to Diane's.  They were asking people to please take the left over food from the big dinner yesterday, so I got some green beans, since there were a lot of those left, and will take those as well.  And we still have time to drive the 40 miles and be there when they get home from church!

Weather prediction is that we have good chances of rain today and tomorrow, and possibly even some snow!!  :) :D  Bring it on!!  This poor parched ground is crying for moisture!

Gotta run!

Speaking of Irish - we walked to our friend's house yesterday just to view the surprise mini parade of relatives and friends celebrating Pat's birthday.  A kilted bagpipe player had been hired to head the parade.  It was so much fun to watch Pat's face of surprise & she shed a few tears too.  There was more cake - we didn't stay for all that and finished our mile and half walk heading back.  Today, the weather has changed and it is overcast, and chilly so all went so perfectly yesterday.

we are expecting our oldest son and DIL this afternoon and it will be the last time we see them in Arizona.  They will retreat to the mountain in Colorado.

Hi Everyone.  I awoke to rain this morning and the weatherman is saying we may be in for some stormy weather soon.  I had a nice day yesterday.  Our Sunday School class has now donated $10,000 toward a needed new church bus.  We were $30 short and we agree to add the other $30 from our Sunshine Fund.  I enjoyed the afternoon and evening of basketball.  There were some good close games and some that were not close at all.  My agenda is clear for today.  I just discovered that our new Ring doorbell has been off line the last few day.  I am going to have to wait until Scott is here unless I can figure out how to remove it from the bracket that holds it.  I am not sure I am strong enough but probably just not doing something correctly.  I will see if I can find a video to show how to remove it.

Janet, we hadn't attended Sunday School for a few years before we moved but have really enjoyed the learning and the fellowship of the class we joined.  I found it gave me an opportunity to get to know a number of people and to contribute something besides money to the Church.  I watched the Kansas State basketball game last evening and wasn't sure they were going to be able to win.  It was certainly a hard fought game and the outcome was in doubt throughout.

Carol, that was quite a birthday party.  I bet you had a nice visit with your son and DIL yesterday afternoon.  Will they make the mountain home their main residence or that it just a temporary thing until they can find a home closer to you all?

I have no idea whether the following story is true but it is a very touching story. It is a little long but I found it worthwhile and I agree with the beginning that having a tissue handy is probably a good idea.

The Folded Napkin Story
"By A Truck Stop Owner"

If this doesn't light your fire, your wood is wet!

I try not to be biased, but I had my doubts about hiring Stevie. His placement counselor assured me that he would be a good, reliable busboy. But I had never had a mentally handicapped employee and wasn't sure I wanted one. I wasn't sure how my customers would react to Stevie.

He was short, a little dumpy with the smooth facial features and thick-tongued speech of Downs Syndrome. I wasn't worried about most of my trucker customers because truckers don't generally care who buses tables as long as the meatloaf platter is good and the pies are homemade.

The ones who concerned me were the mouthy college kids traveling to school; the yuppie snobs who secretly polish their silverware with their napkins for fear of catching some dreaded 'truck stop germ'; the pairs of white-shirted business men on expense accounts who think every truck stop waitress wants to be flirted with. I knew those people would be uncomfortable around Stevie so I closely watched him for the first few weeks...

I shouldn't have worried. After the first week, Stevie had my staff wrapped around his stubby little finger, and within a month my truck regulars had adopted him as their official truck stop mascot.

After that, I really didn't care what the rest of the customers thought of him. He was like a 21-year-old in blue jeans and Nikes, eager to laugh and eager to please, but fierce in his attention to his duties. Every salt and peppershaker was exactly in its place, not a breadcrumb or coffee spill was visible when Stevie got done with the table.

Our only problem was persuading him to wait to clean a table until after the customers were finished. He would hover in the background, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, scanning the dining room until a table was empty. Then he would scurry to the empty table and carefully bus dishes and glasses onto his cart and meticulously wipe the table up with a practiced flourish of his rag.

If he thought a customer was watching, his brow would pucker with added concentration. He took pride in doing his job exactly right, and you had to love how hard he tried to please each and every person he met.

Over time, we learned that he lived with his mother, a widow who was disabled after repeated surgeries for cancer. They lived on their Social Security benefits in public housing two miles from the truck stop Their social worker, who stopped to check on him every so often, admitted they had fallen between the cracks. Money was tight, and what I paid him was probably the difference between them being able to live together and Stevie being sent to a group home. That's why the restaurant was a gloomy place that morning last August, the first morning in three years that Stevie missed work.

He was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester getting a new valve or something put in his heart. His social worker said that people with Downs Syndrome often have heart problems at an early age so this wasn't unexpected, and there was a good chance he would come through the surgery in good shape and be back at work in a few months.

A ripple of excitement ran through the staff later that morning when word came that he was out of surgery, in recovery, and doing fine.

Frannie, the head waitress, let out a war hoop and did a little dance in the aisle when she heard the good news.

Bell Ringer, one of our regular trucker customers, stared at the sight of this 50-year-old grandmother of four doing a victory shimmy beside his table.

Frannie blushed, smoothed her apron and shot Bell Ringer a withering look.

He grinned. 'OK, Frannie , what was that all about?' he asked..

'We just got word that Stevie is out of surgery and going to be okay.'

'I was wondering where he was. I had a new joke to tell him. What was the surgery about?'

Frannie quickly told Bell Ringer and the other two drivers sitting at his booth about Stevie's surgery then sighed: 'Yeah, I'm glad he is going to be OK,' she said. 'But I don't know how he and his Mom are going to handle all the bills. From what I hear, they're barely getting by as it is.' Bell Ringer nodded thoughtfully, and Frannie hurried off to wait on the rest of her tables. Since I hadn't had time to round up a busboy to replace Stevie and really didn't want to replace him, the girls were busing their own tables that day until we decided what to do.

After the morning rush, Frannie walked into my office. She had a couple of paper napkins in her hand and a funny look on her face.

'What's up?' I asked.

'I didn't get that table where Bell Ringer and his friends were sitting cleared off after they left, and Pony Pete and Tony Tipper were sitting there when I got back to clean it off,' she said. 'This was folded and tucked under a coffee cup.'

She handed the napkin to me, and three $20 bills fell onto my desk when I opened it. On the outside, in big, bold letters, was printed 'Something For Stevie'.

'Pony Pete asked me what that was all about,' she said, 'so I told him about Stevie and his Mom and everything, and Pete looked at Tony and Tony looked at Pete, and they ended up giving me this.' She handed me another paper napkin that had 'Something For Stevie' scrawled on its outside. Two $50 bills were tucked within its folds. Frannie looked at me with wet, shiny eyes, shook her head and said simply: 'Truckers!!'

That was three months ago. Today is Thanksgiving, the first day Stevie is supposed to be back to work.

His placement worker said he's been counting the days until the doctor said he could work, and it didn't matter at all that it was a holiday. He called ten times in the past week, making sure we knew he was coming, fearful that we had forgotten him or that his job was in jeopardy.

I arranged to have his mother bring him to work. I then met them in the parking lot and invited them both to celebrate his day back.

Stevie was thinner and paler, but couldn't stop grinning as he pushed through the doors and headed for the back room where his apron and busing cart were waiting

'Hold up there, Stevie, not so fast,' I said. I took him and his mother by their arms. 'Work can wait for a minute. To celebrate you coming back, breakfast for you and your mother is on me!'
I led them toward a large corner booth at the rear of the room.

I could feel and hear the rest of the staff following behind as we marched through the dining room. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw booth after booth of grinning truckers empty and join the procession. We stopped in front of the big table Its surface was covered with coffee cups, saucers and dinner plates, all sitting slightly crooked on dozens of folded paper napkins 'First thing you have to do, Stevie, is clean up this mess,' I said. I tried to sound stern.

Stevie looked at me, and then at his mother, then pulled out one of the napkins. It had 'Something for Stevie' printed on the outside. As he picked it up, two $10 bills fell onto the table.

Stevie stared at the money, then at all the napkins peeking from beneath the tableware, each with his name printed or scrawled on it. I turned to his mother. 'There's more than $10,000 in cash and checks on that table, all from truckers and trucking companies that heard about your problems.. 'Happy Thanksgiving.'

Well, it got real noisy about that time, with everybody hollering and shouting, and there were a few tears, as well.

But you know what's funny?
While everybody else was busy shaking hands and hugging each other, Stevie, with a big, big smile on his face, was busy clearing all the cups and dishes from the table.....

Best worker I ever hired.

Plant a seed and watch it grow..

Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting.

Thanks, Larry.  I enjoyed reading that heart-warming story again.  It's always good to be reminded that there are lots of loving, giving people in the world.  We hear too much about the other kind,
and sometimes lose sight of the many good deeds done quietly every day.

We watched the Kansas State game last evening, and you're right--it was a cliff hanger!  Whew!  And there were so many deliberate fouls which weren't called, penalties I didn't understand, etc.  The rules seem to be very different from my high school days.  But our team won!!!

We have been to the gym, I've showered and dressed and am ready to start contacting people who showed an interest in Zeal at our booth on Saturday.
I have prayed over this, and feel it is a God thing.

A friend of many years who also comes to the gym asked me last week if I could use a box of canvasses for painting.  YES!!  So we went by and picked them up this morning.  What a blessing!

Carol, how much longer will you and Don stay in Arizona?  We need to decide when we can go to Florida and visit grandson Mark.

Time to go to work here!

We had a nice meal out with son & DIL - we will see them in Colorado whenever we decide to take off.  First, there is a small roof repair that will be finished in one day and after that, we have 3 separate times of work on the ceiling where the water dropped through - all to be determined by that handyman.  We picked grapefruit for DIL's office people.

Middle son just called - there is 6 in of heavy wet snow on the ground at our house.  Great news for that dry area.  Still very low water for the Colorado river though.  This will be a tough summer fall season.

I just looked out the window and the bags of grapefruit are being picked up - hooray.  Too bad I am out of bags.

Larry:  Great that your group has a bus - you can think of some fun trips.

Janet:  Go to Florida before it gets too hot and muggy. We cannot leave until all is finished and I have a cousin & wife coming for a visit too.  We have enough caffeine in our diet- I know it is a habit.

Fotobirder:  Did you find a new home?  It has been some time since you mentioned needing a different place - how are you faring these days?

Hi Everyone.  We kept getting severe storm warning after midnight.  Fortunately, where I live we only had one big lightning strike and loud clap of thunder and moderate rain for a couple of hours and none of the 40-50 MPH wind that was expected.  However, the storm did hit over in Augusta and at least one business was damaged and more than one employee was taken to the hospital for treatment.  I did not sleep well last night with only a couple of hour after I went to bed and then a couple before I got up late this morning.  We are going to see 78 degree temperatures this afternoon.

Pat and I plan on going over to Dairy Queen for lunch, which will be our main meal of the day, as this is free cone day.  I will also run into Walmart to get a couple of things Pat needs to make the corned beef.  I want to finish up an audiobook that has only a little over an hour to go.  Yesterday I got notice from the library that a John Grisham Book that I have had on hold for quite awhile was checkout to me so will start listening to it later today as well. The new reading lamp that Pat needed came yesterday and I was able to assemble it.  I also got my Ring doorbell assembled.  Today we are to get the Rollator but think I will leave that for Scott to put together tomorrow evening.  I did order a new laptop for Pat's sister and it should come tomorrow.  Rather than having it sent directly to her I am having it shipped to me so I can get everything up to date on it as she knows little about using a computer.  I hope to have it ready and will ship it off to her before the end of the week.

Janet, I think I had read that story before but somethings are nice to reread.  It seems to me the refs are allowing the basketball players to palm the ball as well as letting some very definite fouls go while calling some just touch fouls.  However, I do not know the guidelines the refs have to follow and am not there to see things like they do.  I hope your contact calls went well yesterday.

Carol, nice to see that you went out to eat with your son and DIL rather than you having to cook.  We generally do the same when we have guests other than overnight guests when we will fix them breakfast.  Glad to see you got some good snow in the Denver area.  So far we seem to be getting plenty of rain.  Our Church has an old bus that is falling apart and is probably not safe to be driven.  Thus the need for a new bus.  I understand that bus will not be purchased until the $50,000 needed has been raised as the Church doesn't need to take on anymore debt.

Carol

It is too quiet in here!

Weather is so different in Tucson.  We have very cool, almost cold mornings of nearly a frost and now the record-setter will be 90 degrees tomorrow.  Last night on the news, they showed the auto-drive vehicle that hit a woman while going 40 mph and she died.  there was a person sitting i the driver's seat and now there will be an investigation on just what went wrong.  It was the Uber company (like a taxi).

I have packed and set out 11 medium sacks of grapefruit and all have been picked up - it looks like we can get a few more bags and then that it is for the prolific little tree.  The best part is meeting people - who stop walking, riding bikes and golf carts, and a big suburban pulled up yesterday - her name is Carol and she was so excited about getting six free grapefruit.  Made my day.  Plus phone calls from family --what could be better? Our good friend's daughter is visiting her and she came over with a relative to visit too.  My sewing ideas are not getting enough time so all will be carted back home.

Larry:  I hope Pat's sister can navigate the new laptop.  Sad and scary about the office being damaged and someone hurt by the storm.

We have been to the gym, I have put my daily pills in the pill strips for the next three weeks (they fly past so quickly!) and now am ready to get busy contacting people about Zeal, as soon as I finish this post!

Today is the day the housecleaner comes.  I'm so thankful for her help!  I always give her a nice tip because she gets so much done in only two hours!

Our granddaughter Abby came up last evening to visit.  She's on Spring Break now, but is only home for four days as she just started a new job and has to work Friday and Saturday.  She is working at a horticulture business. Since she grew up in her parents' greenhouse, helping with every aspect of that, she surely didn't need to be trained much!  She said they seem to only need a warm body to check people out, as when she tries to help a customer, one of the other employees always comes and takes over.  But it pays better and she gets more hours than working at a church or baby sitting.

Abby is raising support for a missions trip to Los Angeles this summer! I was surprised by the location, but it is sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ,
and sounds like it will be a really good experience for her.  They not only can work at a job while there; they are required to work!  She will start her job search right away, using the suggestions she was given.  She had really good references from a CRU person there at K-State, and they are even allowing her to miss the final two weeks of the mission because she has to be back on her campus for training for the RA position she got.  TMI?

I'm so very pleased that Abby is drawing closer to the Lord while in college,
when so many of our kids are pulled away by professors and other kids who don't know the Lord.  She really wants to learn how to be a better witness for Him.  Of course, Grandma gave her support for the trip.  :)

Carol, there was frost on everything around here this morning!  At least there is enough moisture in the air for frost to form!  That's an improvement.  Still drooling over your grapefruit!  ;)  I'm wondering if the person in the driver's seat of the Uber car was the passenger?  Or the owner?  Sounds as if those self-driving cars need a lot more tweaking!  So senseless for someone to lose her life in that way.

Larry, is your church having its regular Wednesday night activities this week?
Our bulletin said no Wed. night activities for this week.  I think that is because there is something going on almost every night during next week.

Hey!  Some of you need to come in and chat with Larry, Carol and I!  The more the merrier, you know!  We want to stay in touch with all of you!

Carol I could only read your post by highlighting it. I think maybe if you used bold or a different color like Janet has it would be much easier to read.  I have a cataract forming in my left eye and some Macular Degeneration in both eyes.

I've been trying to read through the Psalms, I've already read through Job this year. I decided it was time for me to go through the bible again. It has been a few years since I've done that.

I have received the  Power of Attorney  papers for Keith's signature and we need to go over them together. I've told him that I will not do anything with his finances until he can't make those decisions for himself.  He still needs to get a will done, as do I. I will be doing a POA for myself  with Gilbert as the attorney of record  for when I can  no longer make decisions for myself. One of these days I  either need to go to California during the week or he needs to come up here so I can get him on my checking and savings accounts.

All this legal paperwork  is so daunting and depressing for the reasons why  it has to be done  right now before Keith's dementia progresses  much further. It really gets to me emotionally, so please keep  us in your prayers.  Sunday at church  Keith told someone he didn't know where he was supposed to sit so she took his arm and helped him to his seat. I was unaware of this until she told me.

I am still having problems with typing on our forum, it is ok everywhere else, well sometimes similar problem occurs on S & Fs but, it is worse for me on here...My cursor freezes or goes on a go slow, then catches up with itself...

All this talk of power of attorney is a concern for me as not being married, the legal rights when the person I have lived with for 20 years, as our law stands, I would have very little rights...

Well we had another bout of snow from the Beast of the East, thankfully now it is heading back to where it came from Siberia, our snow now has almost gone but it makes us cut off as we have a very steep downward hill leading to our homes...

Our parkomes Extraordinary AGM meeting did go ahead yesterday evening, if it had of been the day before, I am sure for the second time it would have been cancelled due to the snow, we would have been trapped in where we are living...I never went but Richard did, he said it has now become serious, they are sending a letter off to a solicitor about tht machinery left on site and the uneven roads and so forth...

Tomorrow being my birthday, I will have a dilemma, whether to get myself ready for my monthly MS social gathering and meal, even though the pub-bar scene is not for me, or to stay at home twiddling my thumbs and the possibility of arguments with you know who..guess this is as good as it gets, I shan't have any better offers...he wont take me out for my birthday, he wont even take me to the theatre now, since the day I walked out over the swearing play, he wasn't very amused that I had wasted money...

Good morning!  Or evening maybe, in Jacqueline's case.   :)

I'm up really early, as I couldn't sleep since around 3 anyway.  I was pretty excited when I went to bed, but did sleep soundly for a few hours, so all is well.  I got one person signed up for Zeal yesterday and that really encouraged me.  We are enjoying so many improvements in our health that I do want to share it with others.  And if I hadn't gotten so busy and forgot my afternoon drink of it, I would have slept even better!  ;)

We enjoyed having pizza with grandson Curtis yesterday and hearing about their two weeks in Florida.  He said the most enjoyable thing for him was watching his little girls interact with the Disney characters, and he showed us some little videos of that on his phone.  They made lots of good memories, for sure!

Today is my painting day again!  I got my stuff together last night, so after gym and shower, I'll be ready to go.  We all bring something for lunch, and it turns out to be a feast each time.  That's fun!  I made a confetti salad for this time.  In getting my palette ready, I discovered that quite a few of my old watercolors were so hard in the tubes they wouldn't squeeze out, so they went into the trash.

We have high hopes again for some rain!  We would welcome snow, as the moisture is so needed.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry that Keith is having those problems.  I have a few friends here who are dealing with similar situations, and it's heart-wrenching. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  My thoughts won't help, except to remind me to pray--the prayer does help!

Jacqueline, I have no idea what to say about your situation.  I cannot even imagine living for 20 years with a person who is not even considerate of you, when you have no legal obligation to stay in the situation.  I do understand that you are there for financial reasons, and I'm sorry.  I hope you can find help and advice from someone who knows how to help you.

Good morning, Larry!  I know you will likely be the next to pop in the door.
I wish you a beautiful and blessed day!

Hi, Carol!  I hope you have a lovely day, too!

Time to go talk to Abba Father!

Hi Everyone. We have a bright and sunny morning but will have a cooler day getting only into the low to mid-50s.  The only thing on our schedule for today is dinner at the Church this evening and then spending time with Scott and Jennifer.  We did get the rollator yesterday and I will ask Scott to put it together this evening. He enjoys assembling things and I don't.  We did enjoy our lunch out at Dairy Queen yesterday and the ice cream cone was even better because it was free.  I guess a little of my Scottish background shows.  :)

Carol, it is always nice to make a new friend as the lady who stopped for the grapefruit.  That is quite a swing in temperature in a 24 hour period.  I will try to prepare some good instructions for Pat's sister in using the computer and navigating Windows 10.  If she gets stuck on something she can always pick up the phone and call me and I should be able to walk her through the situation.

Janet, I put two weekly boxes for pills and it seems it is always time to refill them as I will have to do today.  It must be a big relief to Abby's parents and you all that she has chosen the Campus Crusade for Christ Organization on campus to be involved with and not the life style that it seems many young folks take when they get away from home.  It has been a long time since I heard that organization mentioned and am happy to see it is still an ongoing thing.  If you have said I have forgotten what the RA position is?  We are having our regular Wednesday night activities this week.  I am not sure about next week as the Newsletter won't be issued until late today.  I do know there will be services on Thursday and Friday in preparation for Easter Sunday.  Glad you have obtained a new person with the Zeal.  I find being around little ones and seeing the joy they get out of life is one of the best things I do.  Glad that Curtis could take his family to Florida and that they enjoyed Disney World.

Marilyn, your mentioning reading through the Psalms reminds me I need to renew my practice of listening and reading the Psalms when I first lay down in the afternoon.  I am perhaps half through them.  I do hope Keith will cooperate with you and sign the papers needed.  Check with your bank as it may be possible for you just to send the signature cards to get Gilbert's signature and then you present them back to the bank so they know it is legitimate.  I know we did that one time in setting up an account when Pat wasn't with me.

Jackie, Happy Birthday.  These years roll around quickly.  Have you tried using a different browser to write in this discussion. I have had to give up using the Chrome browser on both my desktop and laptop and it kept freezing up.  Do you have common law rights in your country?  You might want to check on that as I would think you would have rights if you outlive him.  I do hope you are up to getting out to be with other folks today.

Janet

Larry, I am not familiar with the term Rollator.
Is that the same as a walker? (The ones with wheels?) I remember Jackie mentioning that before.

Yes, we are pleased that Abby is making good choices, and hope this continues throughout her life!  The RA is Resident Advisor, and as such, she will have her own apartment to live in (the RA position she got is in the students apartments building.  She will also have all meals, plus a small stipend.  Her duties will be to help other residents with questions and problems, etc.  Not sure what all, as she will have two weeks' training for that just before the Fall term begins.  She is really excited about the missions trip.  I thought San Diego a strange place, but they do one there every summer.  There will be 100 student missionaries, and several advisors who will give them training on-site before handing it off to them.

Jacqueline-- :hbirthday: :hb3: :hb2:  I almost forgot!  If it's too late, then have a happy day after your birthday tomorrow!!  ;)  Hope you go out to your meeting and have a great time!

Hi Everyone on a crisp 38 degree South Carolina morning and we are only headed up to around 60 late this afternoon.  My friend, who I usually take to coffee, is not going to go with me this morning.  I do have some business to attend to at the Credit Union and then pick up a prescription at Walmart before I go on down to coffee for a little while.

Yesterday afternoon around 2 pm the new Acer laptop was delivered and I it took at least 3 hours to bring the Windows software up to date.  My major activities before and after I go out is to get the computer fixed up.  I have decided to keep the Acer and give Pat's sister the HP that I got two or three months ago.  Both are nice computer but the Acer has a HD screen and the keyboard has led lights that come on when you start typing.

Scott went to dinner with us but Jennifer didn't so didn't attend.  He then came out to the house and while he he assembled the new Rollator for Pat and we tested putting it into the car.  We decided the best place to carry it is in the truck of the car.

Janet, a Rollator is a walker that has brakes on it and a seat with a back rest.  This one has a built in cup holder that folds up when not in use and large 8 inch wheels.  It is well constructed and I think will serve Pat well.  I would never have guessed that RA stood for Resident Advisor.  I hope that job works out very well for her and it sounds like there are great advantages for her.  Having her own space and not having to pay for the room and board certainly will help with the college expenses.

Jackie, it sounds like I jumped the gun on my Birthday Wish for you but guess it was the result of our different time zones.  So here is another Happy Birthday wish for you.   :hbirthday:

Carol

Happy Birthday Jackie!  It is usually a beautiful time of the year in your UK.  Enjoy the flowers in bloom.

Yesterday, I drove to the VA and we spent a couple of hours there (really dislike going on Interstate 10 because it is jammed with so many trucks].  Further, we have to be so careful not to turn south to Nogales - it was so crowded with double trucks yesterday.  Don had several appointments and the last one went quickly when a vet left and gave Don his number.

Sometimes, I just pick up the bible and read whatever opens first.  It is amazing.

Sorry about the very light print - I should have checked.

The Uber driver had been seen on video checking his cell phone but he did look up prior to the casualty and I think they are giving him a pass.  The driver ,must sit in the driver's seat - so far.  I am waiting for them to invent a comfy vehicle where I could nap and set the drive to visit relatives in Seattle or Minnesota.   ^-^

Janet:  I remember campus crusade and youth for Christ.  Prayers for safety and a wonderful visit for Abbey.

Larry:  the better picture on screen and lighted keys sound like a plus feature.  enjoy.  I need to visit Walmart pharmacy because the mail order is not working here.

Good afternoon folks, It is a beautiful day here in North Eastern Ontario.
John and I are heading out to the bush this afternoon to tap our maple trees.  He has the snow mobile ready to go and we will go as soon as he is home from the bus run.  Maple syrup season is short, and very labour intensive.  It wont be as big of a challenge this year as it would have been last year.

On top of this we are starting 2 hives of bees in May so we will have our own honey.  Honey is so expensive, and this will pay off in the long run. There will be no more buying sugar, we will use our own sweetener.  We will supply family as well.

Proverbs 24:13 - My son, eat thou honey, because [it is] good; and the honeycomb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:

Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Have a great evening everyone!

We are home from a trip to see the doctor in Liberal, for me this time.  I'm happy to say I got a good report!!  Had lunch with Jeff, then stopped in Hugoton to tell Abby farewell as she left for college again, and a short chat with Diane.  Good day.

AND.....I have called 24 people to invite them to a meeting tonight to learn more about Zeal!!!  If six of them show up, I will be happy.  And should all of them come, I'll be ecstatic!

It's been a beautiful day in our neighborhood, the only way it could be better is with rain!

I'm tired and need to rest a bit before that meeting, need to be at the top of my game for that!  See you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone.  We have a crisp and sunny Friday morning with no wind.  I did spend a number of hours yesterday working on the two laptops and expect to do so again today.  I about have them as I want them but still need to prepare some guidelines for my SIL on how to use the Microsoft Edge Browser and a number of other things connected to the computer and software I have on her computer.  The housekeeper will be here in another hour or so.  Pat and I plan on going to to eat out main meal sometime around noon.  Not much else going on here.

Janet, we see the many trucks on I-20, from the frontage road that leads to our subdivision so have a good idea what you are talking about.  I know that we couldn't live very long without them.  I agree that reading the Bible is amazing as every time I pick it up something new stands out for me that I hadn't focused on before.  The lighted keys are very much a benefit since it seems most of the computers are black with black keys.  I have never used the Walmart mail order service for prescriptions as I can just call them in and then get a text saying they are ready.  I may have to stand in line for a few minutes but I usually get there shortly after the pharmacy opens and get waited on almost immediately.

Jackie, the Easter eggs will get covered but the bunnies will get cold if you have snow on Easter.  We are getting some unusual weather patterns.  We had freeze warnings out here again last night but don't think it got down to freezing.

Judy, hope the maple trees are very productive for you this year.  You both are very hard workers.  I have never had any desire to raise bees but know they are very vital to nature.

Janet, always great to get a good report from the doctor's visit.  Abby had a short Spring break.  I hope you had a good turnout for your meeting.  I see the Kansas State won their basketball game last night beating Kentucky by 3 points.  I didn't watch it as it came on too late.  I had watched the Nevada/Loyola game, which was a close one with Loyola winning by one point.

Ruth Ann, has your SIL returned to her apartment yet or are you still cat tending?  Always nice to see your postings appear.

Janet

Larry, I watched a little bit of the K-State vs Kentucky game after we got home from the meeting.  Darrel stayed up and watch the rest of it, and it seemed to us the referees were definitely in favor of Kentucky.  Every time K-State got up by 6 or 8 points, they would call fouls on them until Kentucky almost caught up by means of free throws. They called 26 fouls on K-State in the last half, and very few on Kentucky, even when their fouls were flagrant!  It is really a test to watch the coach keep his cool in the midst of such things.  And it wasn't just us; the announcers were commenting on the obvious favoritism, too.  It takes the joy out of watching the game for me when those things are going on.  Good thing I'm not an avid sports fan, I guess.  Why get upset over something I have no remote chance of changing?

It's going to be hot here today, and the wind is coming up again.  Still praying for rain!!

Judy, your way of life is so interesting to me, as someone who has lived all my life out in "the flatlands" to hear about tapping maple trees, cutting and hauling wood to burn, etc.  If we cut wood to use for fuel, soon there wouldn't be a tree in sight!  I'll bet the maple syrup is delicious, and soon yu will have your own honey, too!  SWEET!!  ;)

Only one couple I invited to the meeting came, none of the ones the other lady I shared the booth with invited came, but I'm pretty sure the ones who did come will become preferred customers.  So all is good!  I'm not discouraged about it.

I want to try to write some on the book today!

Good afternoon everyone.  We have tapped 25 trees, 19 yesterday and the balance today.  Yesterday the 2 dogs ran their hearts our and because Rambo is overweight we left them both home today.  They were full out as we were heading home John had the skidoo going fast.  So in the interest of their health they stayed home I must say they were pouting.  Yes dogs do pout!
We are tired.  I have used muscles that last night were screaming.  Today is not much better.  The work begins!

Janet we have a bush that is about 35 acres or perhaps more.  We ensure the young trees are clear to the sun.  We take out spruce and black elm.  The third wave of Dutch elm disease has hit, so the dead trees need to come down before they fall down.  The other trees we take are poplar (aspen).  Thus keeping the good trees to grow and fully mature.  If a maple has dead branches we will take them, to keep the bush healthy.

Have a great evening and weekend folks.  God's blessings be yours.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  This is suppose to be a very nice day going into the 70's this afternoon.  I do plan on attending a meeting this morning and then the rest of the day is clear.  I will begin the work on preparing documentation to send to my SIL on using the new laptop.  I talked with her yesterday and she encouraged me to take my time and not stress over the job so will try to do that although once I determine to do something I like to get it done.  I discovered last evening that the problem I was having with the Acer laptop was that the mouse I was using was failing.  I changed that out and no longer had the problem.  I have things laid out for Pat's breakfast and didn't need to empty the dishwasher this morning as we ate our main meal at Texas Roadhouse yesterday and it was delicious.

I loaded the new rollator in the car trunk yesterday and decided it was going to be too heavy for me to handle getting it in and out of the truck as it brought on the angina.  So I will get it boxed up and return it to Costco on our next visit.  In place of it we will get a second light weight walker for her to use when she goes out that we can leave in the car.  I am sorry this isn't working out but it is what it is and she would need a heavy duty Rollator, which is going to be too heavy for me to handle.

Janet, glad that K-State won the game even if they had to deal with refs that seemed to be one-sided.  The refs are graded by the NCAA and so it is to the benefit of them to be very fair and objective.  I plan on watching the K-State game this evening.  Sorry you didn't have a better turnout for your meeting but most things start out small.  Glad you are not discouraged about it.

Judy, that was a lot of trees to tap in a two day period.  No wonder your muscles were yelling at you.  To bad your dogs couldn't enjoy a second day out with you all so they could run and romp.  It sounds like you have a lot of trees and thus a source of firewood.  I have forgotten whether you all heat with wood or not.

Jacqueline

Larry Hanna...
...be careful and make sure the rollator you exchange it for will be enough to carry her weight...otherwise it maybe more trouble than its worth...Pats safety and stability is paramount...Will the rollator you bought not collapse, the handles should collapse lower for convenience  and so should the rollator fold but I do understand if it too heavy, they sure can be heavy as my one is...

Good morning!  It's bright and sunny here and I haven't even checked the weather prediction, will see what it does later.

Larry, sorry the Rollator is too heavy for you.  I know that Beth's wheelchair got to be almost more than I could load and unload, before she had to go to the home.  Well, we bought the handicap equipped van before then, and when she was able to use her motorized chair, she could drive up the low ramp into the van.  We took her van to Liberal to Jeff's carwash there.  He has full-time attendants, and when they aren't busy, he has them do detailing work, so they will get it all cleaned up and ready to sell.  It has really low mileage on it, so should still bring a good price.

We still have her manual wheelchair, motorized wheelchair, walker, toilet riser, and several other aids she used.  Plus a hospital bed, rails, etc. and lots of her personal possessions.  Someone came into her garage and stole a whole big bag of her blankets and throws that were in her wheelchair inside the van!  I cannot imagine who would do such a thing, or why.  There were two, in particular, that were special to me that I wanted to keep.  But here,
too, I must remember, it's all just stuff.  Sigh....

Tomorrow is Jeff's birthday, so we are going down after church, I am taking food for lunch, and in the afternoon we plan to go to Liberal to see the movie "I Can Only Imagine."  I've been told it's a really wonderful one.

I'm editing a book for a fellow painter and writer.  He has written it in the form of a play, and has over 800 pages!!  I told him if he doesn't stop soon,
it will be the size of War and Peace!  He is bringing it to me in manageable "bites", this batch was three chapters.  Even though he is a retired school teacher, he says his spelling and punctuation is atrocious!  (It's not THAT bad.)  But the story is strange, not sure I can tell where he's going with it.
I need to be working on my own book, but this is okay, since he isn't in a hurry and I can do it in pieces.  Oh!  I should mention that he taught high school art.  He told me he was a good basketball player and barely scraped by with good enough grades to quality to play.  At least he knows his weaknesses and isn't afraid to admit them.

Jacqueline, what happened during the final two hours of your birthday to mess it up?

I must get busy!  I am determined to get several things done today.  I did pretty well yesterday!

Pat, if you're peeking in, can you just say 'Hi' so we know you're there?
Thanks!

Good Saturday morning to most of us and good night to Jackie on this Holy Saturday.

Judy:  How many people in the world can write a sentence of "going out into the bush to tap maple trees"?  Fascinating.  Wishing you the best with bee keeping as well.

Janet:  Kudos on your health checkup - you have survived immense with faith and acceptance.

Ruth Ann: I hope your spring has finally arrived - cannot tell if you are in the never ending winter area.

Larry:  Prescription refills are so easy over the internet.  Don has the VA send his through mail and I run to the store so often, it is easy to pick it up too.  You wrote about having a "failing mouse" and I thought back to years ago no one would understand what you meant.  I plan to fix my apps today and head off any computer threats.  Who would want my information?

We had a record-setting 91*F this week in Tucson and now it is more normal and still warmer than normal heat.  We have roof repair in a few days and the outdoor part will be finished but there are three steps to repairing the bathroom ceiling all on separate days.  I need to see someone about my headache allergies and have an appointment this week.  Otherwise, just keeping on going through the freezer and trying to cook or bake everything before driving north - home.  Time to update the printer - have a good day - night.

JudyB

Carol up here in the north there are many who tap trees for their own use.  We have a handful of people who will be getting a bottle of syrup from us as well.

We have decided to create a trail into the back of the bush that we can use with our ancient snow mobile.  It will take work and time but it will also make gathering sap much easier, there is a fellow who plows the forced road and as a result it is very muddy this time of year.  There is still plenty of snow in the bush, so that will become our own "private" road to the back.

God bless you all tomorrow, and remember that our Lord and Saviour is alive!

Janice

Good afternoon everyone reading here.  This day has gone by rather quickly it seems.  I have had a lazy day, just getting over a sick 2 weeks.  I very seldom get sick, so it was not fun, that's for sure.  Coughing was the main event, that is rare for me too.  My dtr took me to ER and I got a prescription that helped.
I was supposed to go to Amarillo for eye doctor appt, but had to cancel. I have glaucoma and macular degeneration both. Re scheduled to 2 different days in April. Hope I can keep those, but I already have other things getting in the way, mainly no driver to take me.
Will soon be Easter, seems earlier than usual.  Easter was one of my favorite Sundays, when growing up.  What fun, looking for those eggs!  That seems so juvenile now that I am old.

Adios. Y'all take care, with love from Janice.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Â  Ps 118:24

Janice...
...yes special days now take on a whole new meaning than the happy times of our youth we once enjoyed...Easter Saturday for me was the day I lost one of my beloved dogs...I too once looked forwards to Easter and the expectation of waking up to Easter Eggs...

Janet...
...my end of Birthday was spoilt by " you know who "  once coming back home in the car 8.30-9.pm'ish being his usual self...then once back inside closed four walls...I just dont " play that game anymore " of acting as we are a happy couple whilst in company...this Jekyll and Hyde game that HE will play...

This morning we have put our clocks an hour forwards, I still woke and got up my usual time of 5.am'ish...We are now officially in Spring as from the day before my Birthday.... :) even though there is still talk of snow coming over next weekends Easter Bank Holiday periods...as I am typing I can hear the birds chirping about outside, poor birds are sure going to get confused, isn't this meant to be their mating season?...

Hi Everyone.  We are having a rainy and pretty chilly morning and we will only get into the mid-50's today.  There is a low percentage chance of rain throughout the day.  I did attend my meeting yesterday morning and then stopped at Aldi's for a half dozen items.  Pat put together a really good Reuben type casserole using some of our left over corned beef, a jar of sauerkraut, sliced swiss cheese, bread crumbs and thousand island dressing.  This was layered and baked in the oven and was very tasty.  She made only a half of the recipe and it made plenty for at least three meals for the two of us.

Yesterday I put a program on my two computer and on the one I am sending to my SIL that allows me to take control of her computer.  I will be able to talk with her on the phone and show her what I was going to try to put in words.  Then if she has a problem I can see what she is talking about and guide her as well as do the maintenance on it. It was called Team Viewer.  It is going to save me hours of work and I will be able to ship the laptop to her perhaps even tomorrow.

I only have a few minutes before it will be time to go to Sunday School and Church so am going to make only limited comments here today.

Jackie, we are not going to get another rollator, at least at this time, but just another walker to leave in the car.

Janet, a good idea to hold on to that medical equipment as at our ages one never knows when it might be needed.  Sounds like you will have your hands full editing the book as that is a long one.  It is bad when a school teacher cannot spell or punctuate.

Janice, glad to see you are feeling better.  That coughing problem has caught a lot of us this year and is miserable.

Lest I forget, I want to say a big THANK YOU to Judy for the link to "He's Alive!" by Don Francisco!  That's one of my all-time favorite songs!  And I got to see/hear him in concert many years ago, in Garden city.  Very memorable.

I would love to be able to go with you and your hubby to tap trees, or to get the syrup--how educational and fun that would be!  When I was in Alaska some years ago, a friend of the friend I was visiting took me dog sledding!
I enjoyed that so much, and painted a picture of it!

JANICE!!  I have been thinking of you and praying you were well.  I also have those eye problems, but am thankful that mine is still the dry, rather than the wet MD, so no shots required as yet.  I'm praying my sight lasts as long as I stay here in this body.  If I couldn't read, that would be an enormous change in my life!  Hugs to you, dear one! ((((( )))))

Larry, great idea, to use the remote way of helping your SIL with the computer!  That's how Curtis assists me sometimes, too.  You are so generous with your time and skills!

Carol, I did some cooking yesterday, too.  Well, yes, I do cook; just not all the time!  I made food to take to Hugoton for lunch for us and Diane and Jeff today, and while I was at it, some for John, and for a meal I need food for in a couple of days.  It sounds as if you will be heading back to Colorado soon; when your roof and ceiling repairs are finished.

I called and had John come out to pick up the food I prepared for him yesterday afternoon.  He is isolating himself in his apartment, which is not healthy for him.  I wish I could do something, but all I can do is make suggestions.  He has to want to make a life for himself, I can't do it for him. He usually always comes to church; otherwise just stays at home.  He knows we love him, but he's 59 years old, and has to help himself.

Jackie, I figured that was what had happened, re your birthday.  Sorry.  But please keep going to your MS events; you need to be around other people.

I'll probably check back this afternoon to see what's happening in here!

Happy Sunday before Easter...it's so lonesome around my house.  Dtr on her way to Oklahoma to look after her Gr-son for a few weeks while his mom goes to Washington state on a visit.  I hope it is a short visit!

I still have a lot of pain in back of neck (Degenerative Arthritis)...

I seldom drive myself anywhere I need to go, so I depend on her.  I only have the one dtr as my son died from a stroke several years ago, and he had no children.

My little Boston Terrior Jackie is my pet...she is a lot of company for me these days, but she can't talk!

Hi Everyone.  After a chilly and damp day yesterday we are in for a cloudy and cool day today getting up to only around 55 degrees.  We have only three things on our schedule for today.  Pat has a 10 am appointment at the hospital for the bone density test she had to cancel from last week.  Then we plan on eating at Honey on the Rock restaurant across the road from the country club where the Master's is played.  Finally I have the laptop computer boxed and in the care to send to Pat's sister today.  Hopefully she will have it by the end of the week.

I don't have time for individual comments this morning.  I may come back later today and read what was said yesterday and offer a few comments or I'll join you all tomorrow.

Larry Hanna...
...similar here really...I had my early annual dentist appointment, following on to a nearby RSPCA charity shop to hand over a bag of clothes to be donated, then on the way back we bypassed our turn and headed onto our local dairy where Richard picked up a bottle of milk, then on his suggestion we stayed inside, sat down for a cappuccino, where the only two other occupants were I thought an elderly mother and daughter, a tad near my age, or a tad younger, they weren't related but we held a lengthy conversation and found out the younger lady's father had connections from the areas we moved from...such a small world...

I have to laugh as the reason the elderly lady first spoke to me was she heard me telling Richard that he hardly makes any conversations at all, she then chimed in her hubby was the same...

I am now waiting patiently for metal man to come pay me a visit, this is done through social-welfare services as to whether I am still needing bars placed at the gate-concrete stepping from the back...told he will be planning on leaving 2.pm, and expecting a half hour journey, time now is almost 3.pm...

Good Day all -

Judy:  Thank you for the video of "He Lives".  How fortunate we are to have the technology to save and listen to this inspiring music.

Janice - you have two trips to Amarillo - I hope you have a lot of energy to make that happen and all the tests/treatments are successful.

Larry:  You can keep your sauerkraut -- thanks.  I have never been a fan.  How nice of you to work on the laptop and mail it off.

Janet:  You are doing very well in keeping busy and writing uplifting messages.  Good for you!

Janet

Janice!  How good to see your message!  I wish I could help you feel better; somehow take away the aches and pains, and cure both of us of the MD!  I hope your dear daughter returns soon.  Isn't it wonderful to have a daughter?  They are worth more than gold!

Jackie, nice you had a good outing and an unexpected nice conversation,
even learning you had some similar background!  I've never met a stranger;
I will talk to anyone!  My husband has become more outgoing since we married, but he still usually waits for me to sort of "pave the way" before he says much.

Carol thanks for the nice comment.  I am trying to stay positive and do what I feel God has assigned me to do, but some days I have trouble staying on track!  It feels good to get some deep cleaning done even though it is bit by bit.  Clutter seems to depress me these days; I function much better in a neat environment.  ;)  I don't think you have that problem (clutter.)

Larry, you're always so good about making individual comments, you surely do not need to feel bad about skipping it a day once in a while!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

I enjoyed lunch at Bear Creek Coffee with a friend, and came away with a new Zeal customer!  A double blessing for which to thank God!

Janice

Good noontime, everyone!  I just had lunch and it was good.  I get weekday lunches delivered from the Senior Center, and I really do appreciate it too.  Of course I pay for them, but to get delivered is a big plus.
Yes, my dtr Elaine is worth more than gold! She helps me so much, and volunteers for so many events. She is part of the New Mexico Baptists Disaster Relief team...her first volunteer trip was to New Orleans after the bad hurricane several years ago. And she has gone to Colorado 2 times, one was after a forest fire, and the other after a flood.  Her job is not to do that kind of cleanup, but to feed and do laundry for the men workers.  She took training last week for leadership in the Disaster Relief teams in our state. So, she is willing to help wherever.  She is a talented musician as well.  She began playing piano in her teens, at our little church at that time.  She is currently the organist at our big church.
Now that she is in Oklahoma for awhile, I will have to adjust somewhat, and let some things wait. So glad I have little Jackie to keep me company. Maybe I can
get the latest quilt top finished this week.  I have only two seams to make, and the top will be finished.

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Â  Ps 118:24

Hi Everyone. I awoke about 3:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so got up early this morning.  The only thing on the agenda for today is to attend our Prime Timer's Senior Luncheon at Church at 11:30.  We are to get to the mid-60's later this afternoon and little chance of rain.

Jackie, it seems like we can almost always come up with some clothes or other items to donate.  I need to go through my clothes again and donate what I am no longer wearing.  It sounds like your outing was enjoyable in that you were able to visit with some folks while having the cappuccino.  Yesterday while Pat was having her test there was just one lady in the waiting area with me and I struck up a conversation with her and she must have needed someone to talk with as she didn't stop until we had to leave.  I hope the metal man made it to your home and offers some more suggestions that will be helpful to you.

Carol, I didn't use to like sauerkraut but some of my tastes have changed over the years and I do enjoy it once in a while.  What we had was very mind.

Janet, I know it is hard to believe but I used to be very reserved and fairly quiet.  However, I guess I took after my mother and also never see a stranger.  I think we can enjoy a much happier life when we can stay positive as we can't depend on someone else to make us happy.  Maybe when you "get off track" during the day that is actually what God would rather you be doing.  I am like you in that I don't like clutter.  I try to keep my desk area neat and orderly and keep things where I know they should be or I can find them when needed.  Glad you got a new Zeal customer.

Janice, glad to see you are getting your weekday lunches from the Senior Center and that they are good.  It sounds like you have a very talented daughter and a very hard worker.

Carol

Good morning to all and good night to Jackie.  Nice to have a cappuccino and a chat.

I am smiling from all the comments.  I believe the majority of us like to chat with people - once, I was in a doctor's room waiting for an appointment - it was filled with one seat next to me open.  A woman caught my eye and walked right over to me to tell me that she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer.  So, of course we had a long conversation - I told her I would pray for her and we talked about family and so forth.  I truly believe she needed to vent - and I was the one chosen to listen to her that day.

Janet:  There is a Bear Creek Park just west of Littleton, CO.  Very nice that you had the coffee and friendly chat.  Are you a rep for the beverage?  I have seen it on the internet - sounds interesting. Clutter - I am not as organized as my mother and I really have a hard time giving away fabric scraps for some odd reason.  My worst problem must be with all the different charging cords we own.

Yesterday, I started doing the 1 1/2 mile walk that I need to keep up.  Having coffee with a friend, she mentioned the 104 year young woman in Chicago - my friend had sent fresh oranges to her and the woman replied with an email.  104 years old - using email.  I love it!  Positive attitude and a prayerful woman!

Janice:  There have been several severe floods - I wonder if your daughter worked in Fort Collins or the one near Manitou Springs. Blessings to your daughter for her much needed help.  It snowed today in Denver and that moisture was so needed.  The fire danger is sky high.  Probably so in your area as well.

I am smiling from reading all the nice posts this morning!

We've been to the gym, then we sat in the hot tub for 20 minutes, now we are all showered and dressed and ready for today's challenges!  And I'm pretty sure there will be some.

Janice, your daughter is a keeper, for sure!  Sounds like she has a loving and giving heart--just like her mother!  :)  Glad you get the meals delivered. We are going to the Senior center today for lunch--hamburger stew, should be pretty good.

It's pleasant here, so far today.  We had thick clouds earlier, not so many now, but still overcast.  We are still praying for rain!

Larry, I wasn't always as outgoing as I am now, either.  I was very self-conscious and thought I was fat and ugly.   :o  In just the past few years,
through journaling my prayers and what I feel I hear God answering me,
I have learned to believe what He says about me; not what others in my past said.  What a freeing thing this is!  What a loving, wonderful Father we have, and how he loves us!!

We saw the move "I Can Only Imagine" last Sunday afternoon.  If you get the opportunity, go see it!!  It is wonderful!  (I have a feeling I already told you this.  If so, sorry---but it IS!!)

Carol, I believe the Lord puts those in our paths, as he did with both Larry and you, who need a listening ear, and a word of encouragement.  And doesn't it feel good to know God is using you?

Two more prospects have promised to sign up for Zeal by the weekend! Yea!

Carol, no, I have nothing to do with Bear Creek Coffee.  That's just the name of the coffee shop that opened here about a year ago.  I love going there to meet a friend or friends for coffee or lunch.  Great Christian atmosphere, friendly service, and good food!  Bear Creek is the name of a creek which actually rises over in Colorado, and the only floods our town has ever experienced were when Bear Creek came down.  It rises in Colorado when they get rain in the right  (wrong?) places, and then it comes down to our area.  One of the largest 4-H Clubs here is named Bear Creek 4-H. And I'm sure that's way more than you wanted to know!

I have a real book to work on; I don't need to make this into one!  Sorry!

See you later!!

Yes I am still laughing over our conversation yesterday...I had gotten up to go to the loo, and on coming back and ready to leave I had said to Richard about his lack of conversation but had also said something about my rollator when up piped the older lady and said " yes, I had one of those " I wasn't sure if she was talking about my rollator or Richard so I smiled and answered, " one of what? " it was at that point she said, a hubby who never spoke, rarely ever had a conversation, I laughed and this broke the ice...It is only now I should have answered her with a " do you want another one..."  ;D

Good news on the opticians front...no change, or very little change since the last time my eyes were tested, two and 3/4 years ago, just a few months after my MS diagnoses so, the nice Jewish lady said I dont need to update my reading glasses unless I want another pair but, as Richards parking time was almost up, and I was umming and arrhing over which frames, I gave up and we left, a few pound's better off in my purse, although the eye test is free once we become senior citizens...
Unlike Richard, I prefer the smaller Independently owned opticians, he prefers the (cheaper ) larger places that now do eye testings..

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a nice warm 82 degree day today but remain partly cloudy.  No rain is in the forecast.  We had a great time at the Prime Timer's Senior Luncheon yesterday.  One of the Methodist churches in Augusta has a seniors chorus.  There were about 30 members in attendance.  We were invited to sing along with them as they sang and they are all the old songs we had grown up with.  They do a secular and then a sacred segment.  We then had a delicious potato with ham soup, salad a biscuit and delicious dessert for our lunch.  In a few minutes I will take Pat down to the Church so she can attend the Gifts craft group.  I think this will be the first time this year she has attended.  I will go down and have coffee with the guys at the cafe and then after picking her up we will stop by Walmart to pick up the grocery order she placed yesterday.  Finally on the way home we will stop at a battery store to replace the battery in the new phone she recently got as it is not holding a charge.  Hopefully that will solve the problem and if not the phone will be returned.  We sure don't want to send it back as it is a perfect phone for seniors who don't want to use a smart phone.  I have already prepared our lunch sandwiches as know we both will be tired when we get back home.  I also grated a pound of cheese.  This evening we will be going to Diablo's with Scott, Jennifer, Elizabeth and perhaps one other.  They will then come out for the evening.

Carol, I keep asking Pat when she might start using the big pieces of fabric that she has a lot of rather than the scraps from other projects she has done.  It must be a quilters thing.

Janet, so glad your perspective on yourself has changed to a positive one.  I think it is what we are inside that counts and not the outer shell.  God doesn't make junk and we each are different and that is the way it is suppose to be.

Jackie, why is it we think of what we should have said in a conversation after the moment is over.  :) I see Janet and I were on the same wave link.  Nice you didn't need a new prescription an your eyes had very little change.

Carol

Lots of overhead noise here with roofers repairing the 3 spots under tile roof.  The two young men have been so considerate and caring of our old chairs outdoors, etc. - so brownies are baking in the oven for a treat just for them.

We are invited to friends - we are the only ones not related but the group always considers us - this is for Easter afternoon.

Larry:  Good to hear that Pat is considering going to the craft group - it means she is feeling better.  What is the name of Pat's new phone.  I don't care at all for the Smart Phone given to me.

Today, I am hopeful that the dr. appointment will help with my headaches - very likely from allergies.

Janet:  Sorry that you felt that way when you were younger.  You are a gift from God!!! Remember that.... I meant are you a rep for Zeal?

Larry, that Seniors Choral group program sounds lovely!  I'm sure I would have really enjoyed that!  Yes, I think of myself in much better, kinder ways now.  I was never overweight when I was young, and now, when I look at photos of my much younger self, I see I was never ugly, either.  It is just sad that unkind and untrue words spoken to a child lodge in the heart and cause years of pain.  But I have had a very happy and fulfilling life now for a lot of years, and it continues to get better.

Carol, thank you for your kind words.  Yes, I am a Consultant for Zurvita,
because I'm sold on the Zeal.  I feel better after a few months on it than I have in 30 years!  And when you are excited at how it can help people be healthier, you can't help talking about it to others you care about.  (And I care about most everybody!)  ;)  So sweet of you to b ake brownies for the repair guys!  Bet they will be thrilled!!

I've been to my Wednesday painting class, and enjoyed it so much!  I got another small watercolor done; would have done more but George wanted me to go over the corrections I made on his manuscript, line by line.  I don't want to use my painting time doing that, so will kindly tell him I can only spare 30 minutes for that.

Tonight's dinner at church is chili, and it's always good.

I want to start typing again on the book!  Mine, not George's.   :)

Hi Everyone.  We are off to a sunny morning with partly cloudy forecast later today and a high of 85 degrees.  I am going to go to coffee this morning and take my friend from the assisted living place.  I will bring him home and then hop on the Interstate and go over to Costco to return the Rollator that we had ordered for Pat.  So glad to bought it from Costco because it will be easy return without having to box it up and send it by UPS as it is really too heavy for me to be lifting very much.  I was not successful yesterday in finding a battery for Pat's new phone but last evening I checked the little book that came with it and there was a website and email address.  On the website was the model phone that we got for Pat and a picture of the battery that was available for $8 so I ordered it.  It will come from Hong Kong.  Before I discovered the website I had written an email asking for help with the battery issue.  Within 30 minutes I had a response saying they knew I had ordered the battery and a little bit later got notice it was being shipped with a tracking number.  Hopefully this will solve the problem as Pat loves the phone and we didn't want to take it back.  We went to Diablo's and had a great meal then enjoyed a nice visit with the group here at the house.

Carol, nice to see that you are finally getting your tile roof fixed.  Kind of you to make then some brownies.  Pat did enjoy the craft group and was there only about an hour.  I had expected it to be longer. She was feeling pretty good when she went but the chairs they have there sort of did a number on her and she was really hurting when we got home.  The new phone Pat got is a VOCA V530 that we got from Amazon.  Pat really likes it and we both were sad that we had thought we were going to have to take it back since we couldn't find the right battery for it.  Now that problem has been solved as I indicated above.  Be sure and check that it is compatible with the phone carrier you use as it won't work with all carriers.

Janet, it sounds like your experience growing up is a good example as to why parents need to be very careful what they say to children as the impact carries a long way.  No child is ugly as we are creations from God and he doesn't make junk.  I hope George is paying you by the hour if he expects you to explain every editorial correction you make to his manuscript.

Carol

We are looking forward to this weekend. There are many church services scheduled and we used to attend all but have cut back now.

There are problems with this laptop typing. Signing out- the space bar has to be hit twice.

Janet

Yes, Passion Week is full of church activities! Monday and Tuesday we didn't have any, but yesterday through Sunday,
there are things scheduled.  Tonight, we have a Living Last Supper with the Disciples telling stories in their own words; (following a potluck supper.)

Good Friday services start at 7:00 P.M.  Oops--no Saturday services; but the youth are serving breakfast on Sunday morning!

My legs hurt so much I couldn't sleep last night, so after several hours of that, I got up to take some Tylenol, but thought, "Why not take another Zeal instead?"  It worked like magic!  In just a little bit, no more pain, and I was able to sleep!  This stuff is a God idea, of that I have no doubt!

Larry. glad you found a source for a battery for Pat's phone, especially since she likes it so much!  We have enough frustrations in life, without them coming from our devices!

We skipped gym today, since I slept late to make up for some of the hours I missed.  I am determined to get at least 500 words written on the book today.  Things keep distracting me.  I must stay determined not to let other things steal my time away from the project I feel God is calling me to do!

I hope everyone has a lovely Maundy Thursday!  I'm not even sure what is involved in that.  Isn't this the day the Catholics put ashes on their foreheads?  What is the meaning of that?  (I need to study that, I guess.) Anyway, be blessed!   :)

Janet...

Maundy Thursday is also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday, Sheer Thursday, and Thursday of Mysteries.

It is a Christian holy day that falls on the day before Good Friday..

It honours the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles in Jerusalem before he was betrayed.

Maundy comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning command, used in the ceremony of the washing of the feet which forms part of some church services.

According to St John's gospel, before the Last Supper Jesus washed his followers' feet to show his humility.

He then said: "A new commandment I give unto you: that you love one another as I have loved you."

This year Maundy Thursday falls on March 29.

Are there any traditions associated with Maundy Thursday? ( our UK tradition )

Until 1689, there was a custom of the monarch washing worshippers' feet in Westminster Abbey.

Food and clothing would also be handed out to the poor.

These days, the Queen attends a Royal Maundy service at one of Britain's cathedrals or royal chapels.

The sovereign hands out "Maundy money" to pensioners from local communities.

What is Maundy money?
Maundy money is made up of coins that have been specially minted for the occasion - they are legal tender and are highly collectable.

The image of The Queen on ordinary coinage has changed over the years, but Maundy coins still show the same portrait, by Mary Gillick, as the first coins issued in the year of her coronation in 1953.

In a tradition dating to the 15th century, as many elderly men and women as there are years in the Queen's age receive the Maundy money.

This year, it has been confirmed that the Queen, who turns 92 next month, will attend a Royal Maundy service at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

Some 92 men and 92 women will receive the Maundy money from Her Majesty.."

I was going  to mention Maundy Thursday as it is the day that Jesus washed the feet of the disciples.  From old customs, there are churches still using burnt palm leaves saved from Palm Sunday the previous year.  Thanks, Jackie - I have not heard of royalty giving special money gifts.  Very touching.  Last week, I mentioned Holy Saturday and it is this week - ahead of myself.

Martin Luther threw out the ashes ceremony but now, even some Evangelicals, Lutherans,Methodists and more  will have the tradition - which began before Jesus.    It is very comforting to a lot of Christians.

We went for groceries and it was packed. Later, we  must buy a ceiling paint for the repair of the bathroom ceiling where the leak is fixed.  A handy man is coming - we can't paint a ceiling anymore much less repair the leak spot.

Janet

Carol, I can't help asking--how would anyone know that you painted a bathroom ceiling in your own house??  Talk about Big Brother watching!  Our freedoms are being eroded so quickly!

Jackie, thanks for that information, some I know well, some I had never heard, like the Maundy Money.  Interesting!  I remember that last year, they put a smear of greasy ashes on our foreheads at the Methodist church.  It made me very uncomfortable, and I still don't understand any Christian meaning behind it.  Maybe I will just not let them do it tonight, or go wipe it off immediately.

I have a chiropractic appointment in a few minutes, as I don't want to wait until Tuesday.  He's closing at noon tomorrow and all day Monday, for Easter.

We have a combined church service tomorrow, Good Friday, at the community center.  The church joining us is a sister church, which we get together with on various occasions.  It is good to worship together as a larger body of believers.

We brought in more sap this morning, there is not a lot yet, the weather is not co-operating, still too cold.

We are heading out to supper tonight, we have to pick up groceries as well.   We are hoping for more sap in the buckets tomorrow.  Because we have no homes behind us we left our snow machine in the bush.  the road we travel on is all mud now and it is too hard on the equipment.

John is now home and we are soon off to the restaurant!

Hi Everyone.  We had rain during the night and early this morning but it has cleared off now and the morning for me started out at 66 degrees and is suppose to get up to 75 degrees this afternoon.  I don't seem to have any energy this morning.  Fortunately I have nothing scheduled for today.  I just now called to schedule the air conditioning repairman to come out on Monday as our A/C isn't cooling.

Yesterday I went over to pick up my friend for coffee and waiting a few minutes and then called him only to learn that he wasn't going to go to coffee due to another appointment.  I went ahead and had coffee with my friends and then went over to Costco and returned the Rollator. I did not attend the Maundy Thursday service at the Church last evening as just wasn't up to going.  My SIL did receive the computer we sent her but is going to have to call ATT this morning and have someone help her get it connected to the Internet.  I did tell her of several things and suggested she explore things on the computer.  However, she had a very bad headache so doubt she spent much time doing so.

Carol, it seems computers sometimes have a mind of their own and just don't behave as they should.  Pat's phone is sending calls directly to voice mail so had to look at it today.  I don't know what it is with phones as always seem to have problems.

Janet, I heard they were doing a dramatization of the Lord's Supper at the Maundy Service at our Church last evening and having Communion.  Nice of the youth at your Church to serve breakfast on Easter morning.  Is your Zeal in tablet form?  Glad it stopped your leg hurting so badly.  Hope you got the 500 words written on your book as you planned to do.  I looked up an explanation of Ash Wednesday and found the following:  Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day of prayer, fasting and repentance. It is preceded by Shrove Tuesday and falls on the first day of Lent, the six weeks of penitence before Easter.  We did observe Ash Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church we attended before we moved but don't remember there being a special Wednesday service at our current Church.  Our Church does meet with several other Churches on the 4 Wednesdays before Easter for special Lenten services.

Jackie, interesting information on the background and reasons for having the Maundy Thursday services.

Judy, it is nice you can have a combined Church service today.   Hope you get some warmer weather soon so you can gather more sap from your maple trees.

Janet

Judy, hope you enjoyed your meal out, and that the mud will dry up enough soon to make getting out to the trees easier to check on the sap.  And Happy Easter!

Larry, no, Zeal is in a powder form.  You add water, shake it well and drink it! There are five flavors, and I like all of them.  I don't care as much for the kiwi-watermelon one, as it doesn't have enough flavor to suit my taste.  But it's the favorite of many!  That's why they have choices!  Thanks for the further information on the different days of Holy Week.

We skipped gym today so I can contact more of my prospects, but I'm not having much luck in catching them!

I need to take information and samples to some people this morning, so must be about it!  TTYL!!

We waited for the ceiling repair guy scheduled for yesterday and I called but no answer.  He is a bit difficult to understand with accent - however, I did catch him this morning and now he says he will be here 8 AM Saturday morning.

Janet:  We could paint the ceiling - but it needs 3 sessions of repair and the painting is included on the 4th. time.

Am on strong anti-allergy meds and they are working but oh so sleepy that I don't dare drive.  A warning on the bottle to stop taking after 7 days - then wait a week between if I need more.

Hi Everyone.  It is a sunny and beautiful morning and in the upper 40's and headed up to low 70's this afternoon.  I awoke this morning feeling rested and looking forward to the day.  I plan on attending my meeting later this morning and then will watch at least one of the NCAA Final Four basketball games this evening.  I think I will check in on the golf tournament this afternoon as well. Yesterday was pretty much a lost day.

Janet, thanks for the information on the Zeal.

Carol, isn't it frustrating when someone tells you they will be there on a certain day and then don't show up and don't bother to call.  I sure hope the guy shows up for you today.  Those sound like some strong medicine you are taking.

The sun is almost rising - there isn't any movement in the neighborhood at this time of the morning. time for  :coffee:  Did anyone read that the state of California is going to require warnings of cancer on coffee?

This is early for me but I have a lot of reading to catch up on - the morning devotions.  So, I will say a good and healthy weekend to all - enjoy Easter.  It is a gift.

Hi Everyone and Happy Easter to all.  We are going to have a beautiful day here with it getting up to 81 this afternoon.  I am going to Sunday School this morning but will not stay for the Church service as the family is gathering at noon for our Easter dinner.  We need to eat around noon as Scott has to be at work at 2 pm.

I did watch the golf yesterday afternoon and then watched both of the basketball games.  While the second game was not very competitive with Villanova trouncing Kansas it was worth watching for the fantastic three-point shooting that Villanova displayed.

Carol, I did read about the warning label on coffee that California is going to require.  I thought we had been told that coffee was good for us.  I doubt that people will give up their coffee.

Happy Resurrection day everyone.

Larry I think it is ridiculous that Ca. has  demanded that coffee be labeled as cancer causing. I tool have heard that coffee is supposed to be good for you.

I am making a breakfast casserole for our brunch at church. We are to be there at 0am for brunch with service at 10:30 as Usual. I am singing two songs that we chosen by thee worship leader for me to sing.  Onward Christian soldiers and How great thou art., T would not have been my choice as she plays is in a lower key than I can sing well. I may have to opt for singing the higher part, which I can do with no problem. I have a pretty good range from low to high. The pastor calls it contralto, although that is not really the definition I would use, I sing lower than tenor and not soprano.

HAPPY EASTER....  We have never had such a different Easter morning. After working yesterday, the repair men said they would return at 8 AM today - Easter Sunday.  I did remind them but they said they would be here so I had to stay here because Don cannot understand them at all.  They just left and plan to come back early tomorrow morning and that should be the end - will give thanks when this is over .

We are invited to an afternoon meal and I have two salads - one is of cottage cheese and pineapple crush, and the other is spinach & I need to cut strawberries & chop walnuts for that one.

All of this work in the house fits the repair guys schedule and we couldn't wait here either because a cousin and wife are coming at the end of this week.

I always name my relatives who drank coffee and ate cake at 10 o'clock at night and lived to 102 and so forth.

Janet

We were served breakfast at church by the youth this morning--nice!  Then we had a lovely service.  Pastor Todd brought out something I had never heard before, nor thought about myself:  That when Mary looked into the tomb and saw the two angels sitting, one at the head and one at the feet of where Jesus had lain; it was a picture of the Mercy Seat, showing that we now have a new and better Mercy Seat, coming to Jesus!  I thought that was neat.

John followed us to Hugoton to Diane's for dinner, as he didn't know how long he would want to stay.  He stayed almost as long as we did, though.

We did hide eggs for the girls, but boy!  It was cold!  They didn't seem bothered by the cold at all, though.

Diane had little baskets of candy eggs at each of our places at the table;
also a pretty iced cookie, wrapped.  A friend of hers had made 400 cookies and sold them as a fundraiser to help her granddaughter go to an art show in which her work had placed.  I think the girl is in 7th grade.  Nice.  Then, Diane had gift bags for each of us as we left!  She's always so good to include John, too.  I know he was very aware of Beth's absence among us; just as I was.

I got over 1500 words added to the book yesterday!

Hope everyone had a blessed Resurrection Day!

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful morning here in South Carolina. It is in the mix-50's and headed up to 85 this afternoon.  This is the big week for this area as the Master's Golf Tournament activities begin this morning with an event for young people.  Many folks in the Augusta-North Augusta area rent out their homes for the week and make very large profits.  Many of the restaurants depend on it for getting their businesses on the profitable side for the year.  People buy tickets for the early days of the week to watch the pros have practice rounds before the actual tournament begins early on Thursday morning.

Only two things on my schedule for today.  The first is to go to AT&T to have Pat's cell phone card checked and to see if I can find her an acceptable phone as the VOCA has stopped making or receiving calls, which sort of ruins the purpose of a phone.  She doesn't want a smart phone.  While at AT&T I will see if I can get them to unlock my iPhone so it is not limited to using AT&T as the carrier. Then after 3 pm this afternoon the AC repairman will be here to work on the air conditioner, which isn't cooling.  This evening I will watch the men's championship basketball game if I can stay awake as it doesn't start until after 9 pm.

We had a very nice Easter dinner yesterday.  Our granddaughter did a fine job on the turkey and the chocolate pies she made and the other dishes also turned out great.  We have enough left overs for our dinner tonight plus a little more turkey that will last for another day or so.

Marilyn, I hope you all enjoyed the brunch at your church yesterday and that you enjoyed singing the two hymns.  Those are both good hymns but sorry they couldn't be played in a key better suited to your voice. I led the singing in our Sunday School class yesterday but no longer can reach the higher notes and just drop down an octave for those notes.  When I sang in the choir I always sang the bass part.

Carol, happy to read that the workman did arrive and do his work and sure hope that today is the end of the ordeal for you all.  You should be all set for your cousin's visit.

Janet, it is nice when the youth do a project like serving breakfast.  It sounds like you had a nice time at the dinner.  I am sure the little girls didn't have time to think about it being cold when they could go and search for Easter eggs.  I am glad that John could participate and apparently enjoy being with the family.  It sounds like Diane is a very thoughtful hostess.  Fifteen hundred words written in a day is a pretty good output.
