Another update on Keith. He is coming home from the hospital tomorrow (Sunday). Dr. has told me that he has a strong heart and the medical staff at the hospital as well as the Dr's are amazed at his amazing lung capacity. His memory loss has not increased. He has lost some weight in the hospital, it has been hard for him to eat there being in pain and nausea from the medication. They changed the antibiotic, nausea is gone but he had terrible hiccups for along while yesterday. His appetite returned in the after noon and he is eating well now.

Jackie Yes I am a  survivor of all those things and more. I am not that person anymore and Jesus died for me. I am so thankful everyday that He saved me for the pits of hell. Without Him I would not be here today. I love my Heavenly and my Brother Jesus.  Rest assured Jackie it is all part of God's  plan that we remain.

I have a happy report today!!  Yesterday, I got the text of my book to approve; so I spent quite a long time going over it carefully.  I only found two things that needed to be corrected, which were that they had used one picture twice, so I asked them to remove one, and where the word bit was used, it appeared as pit instead.  I should get the galley proof of the corrections on Monday morning for my approval, then they can print the book!   :cheer: :cheer: :laff: :thumbsup2:   :pine: Oh, yes!  That makes me happy!  I've been working so hard on it for about nine months now; and they say I should have the book in my hands in two or three weeks time!!

I just wanted to pop in and let you know.

We took the mobility aids to Diane today, along with the special insoles I ordered for her.  I surely hope they help her.

See all of you later!

Hi Everyone. We have an unclouded sky this morning and no wind.  It is suppose to be sunny all day and get up to 72 degrees this afternoon.  It sounds like a perfect day.  It will start out with Sunday School for me and perhaps Church for both Pat and I.  As usual we will get something for our main meal before coming home to a restful afternoon.  We expect Scott to come out this afternoon.  He is going to put up new curtain rods and black out curtains in our bedroom.  I will watch some pro football this afternoon.  Yesterday was a winning day for the South Carolina and Georgia Universities as Georgia beat Florida and South Carolina beat Tennessee and Clemson beat Florida State.

Marilyn, I know you will be happy to have Keith at home although your work will begin in earnest in taking care of him.  With a good heart and good lungs it sounds like he should be around for a long while.

Good morning Rebot.  I hope this will be or has been a pleasant Sunday for you.

Janet, I am glad for you to be at this final stage of your book preparation.  Let me know what you will be charging for your book and I will send you a check.  Be sure to include the postage cost.

Jackie, this isn't Janet's first book as several years ago she wrote a beautiful book about Beth's journal (and hers as it related to Beth) up to that point. I think she also wrote a children's book shortly after that.

Greetings Larry  Well Thank you kind sir!

Janet

Good afternoon!  Following a really rough night, (for me) we did go to church this morning.  I'm so glad we did.  Being in the presence of God, in the company of other believers is good medicine.  I am still sleepy, but can take a nap this afternoon, so all is well on that front. And after church, we went out to eat with the pastor (his wife is out of town) and several friends, which was so enjoyable.  Darrel missed the first half of the Chiefs-Broncos game, but is watching it now.  Chiefs are leading at this point!

Larry, the book has more pages than my estimate, 299.  I had thought closer to 200.  They set the price of the book according to the trim size and the number of pages, so I did ask that question Friday, and was told the price will be $17.99.  I was hoping it would be less, but I don't control the pricing.  And postage should be around $2.50 for media rate.  (Here I am just "guess-timating" as I won't know for sure until I mail the first one.
So if you want to wait, that will be fine, too!  (Yippee!! My first sale!)   :)

Seriously, I so appreciate you interest!  Thank you!

I got more things packed, took out some I don't really think I need, and still have more decisions to make.  Tomorrow I have to finalize all that!

I need to go switch the laundry to the dryer and start another load.  Trying to not have any extra to wash when I get home, there's always plenty from our luggage!

See you tomorrow!

Larry Hanna - Janet...
...yes I should have known better...I see it..." Rising Above.."

...I am assuming Janets new book is more on Beths struggles with MS, as Rising Above was on her struggles with her Neurofibromatosis...

...hm guessing not getting confused here as there is also an author by the name of Janet E. Damon...Shopaholics: Serious Help for Addicted Spenders...

Hi Everyone. It is suppose to be sunny here all day and this afternoon will get up to around 71 degrees.  I have a quiet day planned.  I am meeting with a friend here at the house early this morning.  Scott will be over later this morning to put up the curtains and spend some time with us.  Yesterday our Church Service was Children's Sunday from Kindergarten up thru 5th grade.  They did the readings, sang songs and basically conducted the service except our minister gave the sermon.  It was a delightful morning and the children were very impressive.  After Church we went to the Sunshine Grill and split a Club sandwich with a side of potato salad.  The sandwiches are so large that there is too much for one person to eat at one time.  We came home and rested for a couple of hours and then I watched some of the football games.  Scott had planned to come over but called about 5:30 to say he wasn't going to make it so we had an uneventful evening.

Rebot, thanks for the greeting.

Janet, sometimes we feel much better after attending the Church service even when we have had to push ourselves to get there.  I am sure Darrel was happy that the Chiefs were able to win their game.  I am happy that I will be your first customer for your book.  As soon as you know what the postage will be let me know and I will send you a check.  I have your address as you know.

Jackie, I didn't intend to imply you should have known.  I will let Janet tell you more about her book.

Janet

Happy Monday to you all!  I'm watching my computer for those final approval forms, as I want to be sure everything is a "go" before we leave in the morning!  I think I'm all packed except for my cosmetics and my meds.  I take very few, but also take vitamins, though not many now since we are drinking Zeal.  Taking that along for sure!

Larry, that sounds like a very enjoyable service.  Kids are such fun, even when they make mistakes.  :)  We often split things when eating out, too, and lately we are skipping supper altogether, or dinner, for you more city types.  ;)  We find we just aren't hungry in the evening a lot of days.

Jackie, this book doesn't really deal with Beth's struggles with MS, as by the time they told us she had it, there was nothing they could do to help her; the damage had been done.  :'(  It's mostly about her strong faith and sweet attitude while facing insurmountable odds in dealing with not one, but two debilitating diseases.  I pray it will be encouraging to all who read it. Thank you for your interest.  :)

I'm going to get a chiropractic adjustment and get my glasses adjusted today.  Also want to order flowers for a friend whose mother just passed away.  Trying to tie up loose ends before I leave!

God bless each of us today is my prayer!

Hi, friends,

I'm thankful to hear from all of you this evening. Although I had dinner, I had a blood sugar low, so will make this short tonight since it makes me feel bad when this happens. I've dealt with this for many years, so don't worry about me.

Y'all have a good evening.

Lots of love,
Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will have another beautiful, sunny and mild day with it getting only into the mid-70's.  The maintenance man is to be here this morning to pressure wash the house and start on some minor outside maintenance that will get us ready for winter.  A friend will be here to work with me at 10 am for an hour and that is going to be plenty for today.  I have already fixed my medicine boxes for the next two week and cleared everything off the front porch.  I awoke around 3:30 this morning and just couldn't go back to sleep so got up pretty early.  Yesterday Scott came by to put up the blackout drapes in our master bedroom only to find out that the drapes were not long enough.  Fortunately Pat got them at Costco so they will be an easy return and she has already ordered the longer drapes so once they arrive the project will be able to be completed as she already got the rods.  Pat is giving me a break and is fixing her own breakfast this morning.

Janet, I realize you may not see this before your return but in case you do I just want to wish you a great trip and that you see many interesting things and have a safe return.

Rebot, another wish sent your way that you have a pleasant weather day and an overall great day.

Ruth Ann, I know that blood sugar low can be a pretty scary thing as my former neighbor had it several times when his wife had to call the EMT's.  One time he had it when he was driving and fortunately she was able to get the car to the side of the road.  I don't think she has let him take the car by himself since and probably wisely so.  I know you know what you do when you recognize what is happening.  I hope all is well for you today.

Jackie, I agree we all are concerned about our friends here and it is helpful to know that others care about us and pray for us.  Only ourselves know how we feel. I hope this is a good day for you and the sun is shining or has been shining over your way.

Rebot

Greetings Ruth   What I do when my hubby has low blood sugar episodes, is give him a sugary drink, in addition to two or three glucose tablets.

Janet

Just a really quick hello and goodbye--or, rather, farewell for a while this morning.  I'm so angry at our cat!  She knows we are leaving by the different activities and seeing the suitcases--and she sneaked into the bedroom and peed in the middle of the bed!   :ticked:  Darn cat!
I'd get rid of her if I didn't love her so much.   :-\

Anyway, that means three loads of laundry to get done in limited time, so we don't have that horrid smell when we get home.  Bad enough that we will have to remake the bed when we get home around midnight.  Ok, enough, already!

I will be thinking of all of you and always pray for safety over you and your loved ones.  Thanks for the good wishes on our trip, Larry.

I have to call my publisher one more time, NOW.

Love in Jesus,
Janet

Good Morning everyone. I am so tired this morning. I didn't sleep last night due to Keith being up and down and my foot and legs hurting so bad they kept me from sleeping. Keith will be going to ER today  and I hope back into the hospital so I can get some rest. He managed to get his catheter bag caught on the chair during one of the times he got up and it pulled out his catheter too. the medication makes his urine very dark brownish/orange and it i all over the carpet and bed even on him, What a mess to  try to clean up at 4:30 am. I am going to go to my Tai Chi class today, I need that as a stress reliever. Then I will see about getting him back to the hospital.

Janet:  I should have checked in this morning when I was wide awake and reading at 3 AM.  Safe trip and have a great time.

Ruth Ann:  Don has low blood sugar happen sometimes in the morning - he takes the pills right away.  I know what to do but so far he can take care of it himself.

Early morning noise - it is because a crew is re-digging what they worked on last week on the corner.  Just another expensive OOPS.

Yesterday, too much time was spent taking out stitches on a little sewing project.

Praying for all the Jewish families in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who were involved in the shooting.  There is a large area here of ones with the Jewish faith and they have added police protection.  Such a sad state.

Hi Everyone.   It is another beautiful day here in South Carolina.  We are suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  The maintenance man did a very good job of pressure washing and even washed out sidewalk.  The columns that were painted look very nice.  There are three little jobs he has left to do.  He put a new threshold strip on the bottom of our front door and now we can hardly get it opened or closed.  He fixed the gate hinge but it needs some more adjustment and he is fixing the top of the two end columns on our front porch so the birds cannot build nest there.  At noon time today we are taking Scott with us to eat at the Honey from the Rock Buffet over in Augusta.  This is his last day of vacation and is also his wedding anniversary, which is always a hard day for him.  I did get a very good nights sleep and plan on just taking it easy today as yesterday did a couple of things that brought on severe angina attacks.  Fortunately they didn't last long but they always leave me feeling extra tired, which may be from taking the nitro tablets.

Rebot, Pat also suffers from hypoglycemia but hasn't had to do anything special other than eat something with protein rather than carbohydrates.  Your background in the medical area comes in handy.

I guess Janet and Darrel are well on their way on their trip.  They sure didn't get a good sendoff from the ornery cat.

Marilyn, I am so sorry that things are already so difficult for you in taking care of Keith.  I hope you were able to get in some rest yesterday as you must take care of yourself.  I hope your own pain has lessened today.

Marilyn

Update on Keith. He is now in ICU on a ventilator for the first 48 hours, After that we will see how he is doing. He said he doesn't want to be on life support, but it isn't necessary at this point as far as we know., The Riley boys and I will talk later if any decisions need to be made.Keep on praying, It is a scary time for all of us especially me,
He had surgery to repair a fecl leak into the hernia sack.

Greetings Larry   In most cases with 'hypos' the blood sugar level will rise once you eat something sugary, or a glucose based drink.  We or should I say. I prefer glucose tablets.  With hubby the blood sugar numbers can go down very low quickly and a simple drink or glucose tablet does not always  have the required effect.

Being from a medical background is an advantage, you would think!!

Hi, friends,

I've been working on financial documents for review by the apartment management team. I must report tomorrow.

I keep sugary drinks, glucose tablets in my apartment and in my purse, and protein and carbohydrates for a snack after those blood sugar lows. If I go out during winter time, snacks and emergency rations are kept handy. One of my diabetes meds has been changed, so I'm experiencing some lows during this adjustment period.

May God be with each of us.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone. We are predicted to have a partly cloudy day with a high of 81 degrees.  This is going to be a long day as I woke up around 2:30 and was never able to go back to sleep.  About 5:30 I decided to get up and get my day started.  I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee downtown this morning.  Then, as far as I know, we will go for our main meal around 1 pm at the Honey From the Rock Restaurant since we didn't go yesterday due to a change in plans.  Pat and I went to Chick-fil-A for a late meal around 4 pm yesterday.

Marilyn, I hope there is some improvement in Keith's condition today and that you have been able to get some needed rest.  I have been praying for both of you.

Rebot, Pat has never had to take glucose tablets and seems to be OK except when she hasn't eaten for sometime.

Ruth Ann, I am sure your financial review will go well for you today.  Is this review what determines your monthly rent for the next year?  I hope you soon adjust to your new medication and that the blood sugar lows don't become more of a problem for you.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  What period of time without a meal are you talking about in Pat's case?

Hubby if he goes more than three hours, normally sees him having  a hypo.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Larry, when the new management bought these apartment towers, they brought new regulations. I never had to submit information to the previous owners. This is for Tax Credit Certification. I could get all but one item within the short deadline time. That will be requested tomorrow.

I'm so grateful that I don't have the blood sugar lows very often.

May God bless us all today.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann
