DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

From Chris Saunders

John 17(KJV)

While I was with them in the world I kept them in Thy Name:
Those that You gave Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

This is one of the greatest miracles in our Bible quite overlooked by many, our Saviour was attacked at every turn by the scribes, Sadducees, Pharisees and others, they wanted to stone Him, they tried to throw Him off a cliff.
And for three years and more His Disciples were with Him constantly, everyone knew who and what they were, His faithful few.
He had even sent them out to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons, all knew who they were, and yet not a finger was laid upon them, even in the courtyard ..Peter was accused three times of being Jesus's disciple, and although surrounded by enemies he was not apprehended...do we realise the keeping power of Christ!! The young church had it's human foundation kept untouched!
He is certainly able to keep us falling, not just in to sin, but falling under the hand of man.
If Jesus wants us kept safe, then we shall be kept safe.
The miracle of the unharmed disciples is a great one!

Safe in the Arms of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

"The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;"
Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV

Author:  Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Musician:  William H. Doane, 1832-1915

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! 'tis the voice of angels, borne in a song to me.
Over the fields of glory, over the jasper sea.

Refrain

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world's temptations, sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials, only a few more tears!

Refrain

Jesus, my heart's dear refuge, Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages, ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience, wait till the night is over;
Wait till I see the morning break on the golden shore.

Refrain

Safe in the Arms of Jesus was written by Fanny Crosby.

Fanny Crosby

On April 30, 1868, William Howard Doan, a composer and friend of Crosby?s knocked on her door.

He said,  ?Miss Fanny, I have exactly forty minutes before my train leaves for Cincinnati, and I must take that train.?

He explained he wanted a new hymn next month when he attended the state-wide Sunday School convention in Cincinnati.

Turning to the piano William Doan sat down and played his new tune in a rousing and stirring manner.

Upon finishing, Fanny Crosby said    ?Your music says ?Safe in the arms of Jesus.?  What could be more appropriate for boys and girls at a Sunday School convention??

She went to her desk and in less than twenty minutes, wrote the lyrics to Safe in the Arms of Jesus.  Mr. Doane played through the tune several other times, as Crosby continued to write.

Crosby explained, ?Then followed a space of twenty minutes, during which I was unconscious of all else except the work I was doing.?
When she was through, she folded the sheet of paper, placed it in an envelope and handed it to her friend.

Since he was in a hurry, she told him that he could read it while on the train.

The seed for these words may have come from a story told to Fanny Crosby of an  event in New York City in which a little girl fell from her in panic.  The mother whispered ?Hush, my little one, you are safe now, in mother?s arms.?.

Jesus Loves YouThe song was played on August 8, 1885, when American President Ulysses S. Grant was interred.

Ira Sakey wrote of a mother recounting that her daughter asked to sing this song before she passed into the arms of Jesus.

Do you feel the arms of Jesus around you?

Have a great weekend everyone.

For those of you who remember Kevin M. Soileau, and his wonderful dog Jazz..... Jazz died in July.  Kevin is missing him as those of us who have had our pets die know.

The leaves are getting lovelier by the day, soon picture time. This weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving.  We are having Elizabeth and hubby Rob with their 2 kiddies here for dinner on Sunday.  That leaves them free for Monday. Most of you know that Elizabeth got married in July to a fine man Rob Martin.  Ivy and Maddie are beautiful (yes I am prejudice) little girls.

I was ganged up on by 2 dogs.  Zeke a rottie and Rambo John's spaniel. pulled it off very well.  Zeke wined and I told him to "Give it up and lay down", (he got into a skunk this week and we have him in the hall till we get peroxide to bathe him.)  Rambo immediately got in to it jumping up on my knee, and licking my chin. I asked him what HE wanted. he jumped down and pranced his way into the hall.... they both wanted out!!! at least that is what the "said".   What would we do without our boys!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a mostly sunny day with a high once again in the lower 90's.  I am hoping to have a somewhat busy day, at least more productive than yesterday.  I want to attend my weekly meeting this morning and then make a quick stop at Aldi's for just a few items.  I also need to stop at the service counter at Walmart and return a substitute that was put in the online grocery order that isn't what Pat wanted.  I may pick up a quick sandwich before I come home so I can rest when I get back.  There are a number of good football games on starting at noon so will watch some of them later this afternoon.

Janet, I am sorry to read that you are not happy with your publishing company.  I did a quick search on "how to move photos to a flash drive using a Mac" and I find there are numerous articles and instructions.  Perhaps that will help you with a step by step instruction.  At least on a PC you just insert the flash drive into the USB port and use the File Explorer to locate it as it will have a unique letter idenification and also where the pictures are or where you want them and then just drag and drop between the two.  Hope you enjoyed the dinner theater.  It has been many years since we attended one and we always enjoyed them.  However, the tickets were certainly not the price you have to pay now as that would be a non-starter for us.

Judy, thanks for getting us started for October and posting the good reading from Chris as well as the hymn and the back story about how it was written.  It is always a sad time to lose our pets.  Hope you have a fine time with Elizabeth, Rob and the kids for your Thanksgiving weekend.

Carol

Happy Thanksgiving Judy and Pat and all Canadians!

We have been without internet and phone for over a week - my, how dependent we are  on what we now consider necessary.  A repair person showed up suddenly today and fortunately we are in the house because it was scheduled next Wednesday.  I believe we are so impatient too - expecting so very much.  I cannot get the poor Indonesians out of my mind because they had no warning to the tsunami and it hit villages right by the sea.  How dreadful.  Prayers for all.  Our women's prayer group is headed by a missionary who resides many months of the year there and is now in home - it is a big enough country that she would not be near the damage - still a disaster for so many.

We have to take our car in for a check-up because we could not start it a couple of times. Just hoping we make it to the shop on Monday.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another lovely day here in South Carolina and it is suppose to stay in the mid to upper 80's today.  Our main activity will be attending Church.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back and get Pat for Church.  We will go somewhere to eat out.  We are having only one Church service today as it is World-Wide Communion Sunday and this service will be in the Fellowship Hall and be a blended service.  Yesterday was a very busy morning but got accomplished all that I had listed I planned to do yesterday.  I did watch college football and the teams I follow all won.

Carol, glad you got your internet back on line sooner than expected rather than later.  The pace of life has definitely picked up a lot due to instant communication and the ease of doing some things now.

Janet

We went to Hugoton and attended church at My Father's House today.  We hadn't had a good visit with Diane and Jeff in weeks and weeks, just seemed a good day to go.  It's been cloudy and rainy here all day, after a nice .6" rain last night.  I'm sure we got more today, and it's welcome.

My wonderful grandson Curtis came by Friday just as I finished typing the last piece of information the publisher wanted for my book; and he transferred everything to them!  He did in less than ten minutes, what it would have taken me two days to do, even had I known how to do it (Which I didn't/don't)  So, I am very thankful for his help!  The publisher said if I got it all to them before Oct. 30, they will have the book out and available by Christmas.  So I am well ahead of that date!   :cheer:

I'm signing off to get a bite to eat, and plan to retire EARLY (yes, again!) :) :D ;D

Hi Everyone.   It is another clear morning on this Columbus Day here in the USA with the temperatures to stay in the low 80's and isolated Thundershowers this afternoon.  This looks like it could be a pretty wet week here in South Carolina as the projected path of the new Gulf hurricane is expected to come across our whole State.  Yesterday I came home to pick up Pat for Church to find only that her back was hurting her and she decided to stay at home.  She had sent me a text but I hadn't checked it as when I left about an hour earlier she had planned to go.  We did have a very nice blended service and once again nice to be in a congregation of 4 to 5 hundred people.  Then I stopped at Firehouse Subs to get a small sub for me and I waited and waited but wasn't too surprised as I had never seen so many people there ahead of me.  Finally, the shift leader announced they were sorry for the wait but they had a lot of order backed up and were short of staff and if anyone wanted a refund they would gladly return our money.  I did get a refund as they hadn't even started on my order and then stopped at Bogangles to get the chicken nuggets that Pat had wanted and a grilled chicken sandwich for myself along with a side of their coleslaw for each of us.

Janet, I saw that you had sent off your book to the publisher and know that is a relief.  Glad Curtis came by and could help you with those last steps.  Spending time with family over a meal is also a very enjoyable experience.  Nice to see you are getting some rain.

Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for posting that!  Oh, Yes! We have so very much for which to be thankful!  Another good thought I heard or read recently is:  If tomorrow you have only the things you thank God for today, how would you feel?

Larry, we do enjoy visiting with "the kids" and hadn't done that in weeks.
So it was good to catch up.

Our rain gauge now shows a full 2 inches, and it's still raining!  This wet spell is to last still several more days.  It's coming slowly, so is a good soaking rain, the kind that does the most good.  When we left the gym, the water was running through where we parked the car, and was at least three inches deep, so we goth got our shoes and socks--and pant legs soaked!!
Brrrr!  It was cold!

I have to call and reserve a room for us in Madrid, as we have to stay over an extra night to make our flight connections work.  I hope I can do that without too much hassle!  Also have to touch base with Xulon Press and see if everything got transferred satisfactorily.

But right now, it's time to eat some breakfast!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are in for a cloudy 84 degree day with chances of more rain later today.  I checked the radar map this morning from our local TV station and it shows the Hurricane path veering off just a ways to the South of where I live.  However, we do expect some heavy rain as of last nights forecast and some winds.  Each day the picture changes a bit and now it is predicted to start affecting this area late tomorrow afternoon or evening.  It sure looks like it is going to be another bad Hurricane for the Gulf coast but weakening as it makes it way up toward the East Coast.  My main accomplishment for yesterday was to complete the Indexing of the recipes and links to recipes and helpful information for the two cooking discussions in the Homemaking folder.  It was a major job and required a lot of hours and careful attention to detail.  Today I plan on taking it easy but will be meeting with my friend for an hour this morning here at the house.

Marilyn, thanks for sharing that reading.  It is a good one and even in the midst of our own turmoils and crises we also have God's blessing and guidance as his plan for our life that of our loved ones is worked out.

Janet, I am impressed that you have had two inches of rain and going to get rain for the next few days.  It must have been a shock to have to walk through the water to get to your car when you left the gym.  When will you be going to Spain?

Carol

Everything is fixed on our car and we are always thankful to be able to pay the bill.  It was surprisingly average in cost.  I am waiting for Don to rise and shine so we can go to the gym; I would like to go to a genealogy meeting if he doesn't need me for phone calls, etc.  Rain - it sure floods in the desert when it rains.  Everything is fresh and clean and rain is really needed.

A new Hobby Lobby craft store is now closer to us and my project is to make some zipper bags for purses so the coupon I printed came in handy.  Also, it is so easy to make pot holders and everyone keeps them - I laughed out loud when a friend showed me her favorite - it was fabric with mountain animals and I must have made them years ago.

Larry:  It is still hot daily here in Arizona.  The weather is now rain and I mean heavy rains with flooding - the monsoon is late this year.  Prayers for Pat's back pain to ease!

Janet

Larry, we will only be in Spain for one day, at the end of the Morocco trip.  I had no trouble booking a room for us online.  Darrel was really worrying about it, so now he can relax!

It's still raining, and quite chilly here--43* when I looked at the thermometer in the car.  I went back to town and had a nice massage.  Friend of mine wanted to practice doing chair massages, and I was glad to let her practice on me!  I meant to take a few things for my space at the gallery; got them ready yesterday but forgot them in my hurry, so will have to make another trip.

I'm really sorry to learn that Nikki Haley has resigned as our Ambassador to the UN.  She did a terrific job, and didn't let anyone intimidate her!!

I want to touch base with my publisher, as I still haven't heard anything from them.  They apparently were closed yesterday.

Carol, I think I finally wore out almost all of the potholders Mom made. They were so much better than any you can buy.  So I'm sure your friends appreciate the ones you make, too.  I've seen a few videos of how the desert can flood, and it's amazing!

One of Darrel's hearing aids fell apart when he took it out of his ear Sunday, so I mailed it in to be repaired.  Sure hope it gets back before we leave!

Hi Everyone. Here in South Carolina we are awaiting the impacts that Hurricane Michael may have on this area.  We are to get a lot of rain, wind and the possibility of tornados.  I see on the Weather Channel that the Hurricane now has winds of 145 MPH.  I am glad we are as far away from the coast as we are.  It is a warm and humid 75 degrees here already.  Pat is up and plan on attending her craft group this morning and I will go on down to the restaurant and have coffee with any of my friends that are there today.  This evening we plan on eating at the Church and Scott plans to come out afterwards.

Carol, it is always a good feeling to know our cars are back in good shape and that the bill didn't break the bank.  Have fun at the Hobby Lobby.  Pat has made a dozen or so pot holders from quilted squares.  The ladies of the Church have their craft sale a week from today and this will be here contribution to the group although she will probably send down a casserole or baked good to be sold. Pat was feeling better this morning.  She awaiting the arrival of a TENS unit she ordered a few days ago and hopefully that will also help with the pain.

Janet, I had forgotten you planned to go to Morocco.  Glad you were easily able to make your room reservation in Spain. I agree with you on Nikki Haley.  She was our Governor at the time we moved here until she went to the UN.  I expect she will run for the Senate sometime in the future although our two Senators are still young.  I really like our young black Senator Scott.

Janet

Larry, I read your post early this morning; thought I would be back in here before now.  I was so tired and aching all over when I came home from the Artery, lay down in my recliner and napped until Darrel woke me to go to dinner at church.  Then we had a meeting afterward; so now I am more than ready to go to bed!

But at least now yours won't be the only post of the day!  Hey, everybody!
Come in and talk to us!

Hi Everyone. Still dark here in North Augusta, South Carolina but it looks like we have been very lucky so far from the Hurricane. It started raining about 2:30 am and then some wind and at 4:30 we lost power for about 20 minutes and then another very brief outage a little later. The Weather Channel has a reporter over in Augusta, Georgia, and he said we have had about 2 1/2 inches of rain in the area and we will get some more rain and moderate winds this morning but nothing severe is expected and then will clear off this afternoon. I am seeing some of the pictures that are showing the terrible destruction that some of the communities in Florida experienced. I am sure a lot more destruction will be visible as the sun comes up and the reporters can get around more.

Pat did go to her craft group at Church yesterday and then we stopped at Zaxby's for our lunch. The Wednesday evening activities were cancelled at the Church so Scott just came out and had one of the meatloaf dinners Pat had put together that we taken out of the freezer. I had gotten a new utility cart like we have in the kitchen that is so handy to use in the garage to get groceries from the car into the house and he put it together for us. I am taking a pass on going to coffee this morning as the old gentleman I pick up on Thursday isn't sure on his feet and a big gust of wind could blow him over plus it will still be raining. I just plan on a nice quiet day here at home.

Janet, thanks for checking in and leaving a message.  Are all of your displays at the Art Gallery in one location or scattered around amoung other works?

Janet

I'm impatiently waiting for that call that was supposed to come at 10:00!  I hope she didn't forget about me!

Larry, all my stuff is together in one place, the space I have rented.  I took a few things to decorate it:  flowers, a plant, and another painting it needed to look balanced.  ;)  If you look at my FB page, there have been photos of it on there.  If you don't find it, let me know and I will post one.  The others were posted by the gallery owner, Tracy.

So much devastation from the weather this year!  Glad you didn't get much severe weather, Larry.  We had a bit over three inches of rain over about a week's time, so nice, muddy road being the exception.  ;)

I'll hit post before my phone rings........hoping it does ring!!

Hello Larry and Janet, I do cme to tread evwry day but sometimes  don't post. Keith seems to be feeling better, He has his pre-op appointment next Wednesday.

I had foot surgery yesterday to remove the big toenail and the matrix killed. There will never be another toenail on that toe or the painful ingrown toenail  that preceded the surgery.

Janet good to hear that you are getting it all  together at the artery. I hope some of your beautiful painting sell for lots of $$$.  ;)

My day so far has been exercising, donating stuff, dealing with computer issues, and I had to rest.  Still some fatigue from whatever bug or food poisoning from the other day.  I paid a bill from the lab work of last doctor's appointment.  It should have been covered but my former doctors office was late in sending in the information.  With insurance, it would have been a lot less but was not covered - $257 for blood work.  See how we have such a crummy system.  That is why we always carry insurance but it sure isn't friendly in the USA.

Terrible and sad news from the hurricane.  Apparently, Georgia has not had a hurricane wind since the late 1800's.  I don't know - fires in the west and downpour and wind in the east and south.

Rebot:  Keep in touch.  It is always nice to see a new face.

Arizona has about 20% felons in the population.  That seems terribly high - I wonder if a lot of them vote.

Pasta and Alfredo Sauce for dinner.  It is my easy night.

Janet:  Good wishes on your sales.

Marilyn:  Hope you mend without any pain.

Rebot

Greetings Janet  I hope that your paintings sell well and I will keep you in thoughts.   I don't use Facebook, could you send me a photo of one of your exhibits from the gallery please.

Greetings Carol   I watched the news program on Thursday and so much damage from the Hurricane in Florida.

I hope that the hurricane reduces with its wind intensity as soon as possible.

Hi Everyone. It is an absolutely beautiful morning here in North Augusta with clear skies and 53 degrees.  We are suppose to get up to only 74 degrees this afternoon, the first real day of fall weather.  Nothing particular on the schedule for today.  I took care of a lot of little chores yesterday and was really tired last evening and a bit draggy this morning so will probably lay back down for awhile after I finish here in the office and I get Pat's breakfast fixed and read or listen to my audio book.  One of my coffee drinking friends gave me a book on Wednesday.  Scott came out yesterday afternoon to take a shower before he went to work.  His electric was off all day.  It must have been on when he got off around midnight as if it weren't he planned to come out here to spend the night but didn't need to do so.

Janet, I will try to remember to look at your Facebook page to see your Gallery display.  We had a notice from our Homeowner's Association yesterday afternoon saying our yard man had surveyed the neighborhood and there was no damage.  Other places around our town did have damages from trees falling.  I guess that is the one nice thing about not having any large trees in our yards, which are too small for them.  We don't have to worry during a storm.  When I was growing up on the farm we lived on a dirt road and had to walk it daily to get to our little country school and back home.  I remember wading through the mud and snow and also around the barn where the mud would get real deep during certain period of the year.  I also remember dealing with the ruts in the roads.  That was a nice rain you all had.  I think we had between 3 and 4 inches of rain here from the Hurricane but haven't dumped the gauge yet.

Marilyn, sure glad to read that Keith is feeling better and hope that continues until he can have his surgery.  I have a pretty good idea of what you are experiencing with the toenail removal as had both of my big toenails removed a couple of years ago and don't miss them a bit. The daily care of them while they healed was a bit of a hassle and it took about 6 weeks for them to finally heal.

Rebot, of course we missed you posting.  Welcome back.  The terrrible hurricane damage in Florida has overshadowed the damage from the Hurricane in Georgia and other places as it remained a Cat 1 Hurricane for 250 miles inland.

Carol, I have a bill for lab work that Pat had done a few weeks ago to check on today to find out why the insurance didn't pay any of it.  I am thinking she may still have some part of her deductible for the year that hasn't been met although when we got the Rollator that supposedly finished meeting her deductible. I sure do miss Kaiser Health Insurance where we were not constantly getting medical bills to pay like with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  If you haven't heard they announced yesterday the Social Security Cost of Living increase for next year is 2.8%.  That also applies to Federal retirees.  This is the biggest increase we have had since 2012.

Janet

Larry, whatever shall we do with all that extra money?   I hope it will cover the inevitable increase in Medicare!  Well, a little is sure better than none!

We are predicted to have snow here on Sunday!  Kerri (youngest daughter) is coming from Salina to help celebrate Darrel's birthday, so I hope we won't get too much.  It probably will melt quickly, as the ground isn't cold yet.

It's time to go to the gym, and Darrel is ready, so guess I'd better scat!
See you later!

Rebot, how would I send you a photo?  I'd be glad to if I knew how, but I don't have your phone number nor email address!

I need to go to the Artery and take a new picture, since I added some things the other day.
