DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

From Chris Saunders

John 17(KJV)

While I was with them in the world I kept them in Thy Name:
Those that You gave Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

This is one of the greatest miracles in our Bible quite overlooked by many, our Saviour was attacked at every turn by the scribes, Sadducees, Pharisees and others, they wanted to stone Him, they tried to throw Him off a cliff.
And for three years and more His Disciples were with Him constantly, everyone knew who and what they were, His faithful few.
He had even sent them out to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons, all knew who they were, and yet not a finger was laid upon them, even in the courtyard ..Peter was accused three times of being Jesus's disciple, and although surrounded by enemies he was not apprehended...do we realise the keeping power of Christ!! The young church had it's human foundation kept untouched!
He is certainly able to keep us falling, not just in to sin, but falling under the hand of man.
If Jesus wants us kept safe, then we shall be kept safe.
The miracle of the unharmed disciples is a great one!

Safe in the Arms of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

"The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;"
Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV

Author:  Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Musician:  William H. Doane, 1832-1915

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! 'tis the voice of angels, borne in a song to me.
Over the fields of glory, over the jasper sea.

Refrain

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world's temptations, sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials, only a few more tears!

Refrain

Jesus, my heart's dear refuge, Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages, ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience, wait till the night is over;
Wait till I see the morning break on the golden shore.

Refrain

Safe in the Arms of Jesus was written by Fanny Crosby.

Fanny Crosby

On April 30, 1868, William Howard Doan, a composer and friend of Crosby?s knocked on her door.

He said,  ?Miss Fanny, I have exactly forty minutes before my train leaves for Cincinnati, and I must take that train.?

He explained he wanted a new hymn next month when he attended the state-wide Sunday School convention in Cincinnati.

Turning to the piano William Doan sat down and played his new tune in a rousing and stirring manner.

Upon finishing, Fanny Crosby said    ?Your music says ?Safe in the arms of Jesus.?  What could be more appropriate for boys and girls at a Sunday School convention??

She went to her desk and in less than twenty minutes, wrote the lyrics to Safe in the Arms of Jesus.  Mr. Doane played through the tune several other times, as Crosby continued to write.

Crosby explained, ?Then followed a space of twenty minutes, during which I was unconscious of all else except the work I was doing.?
When she was through, she folded the sheet of paper, placed it in an envelope and handed it to her friend.

Since he was in a hurry, she told him that he could read it while on the train.

The seed for these words may have come from a story told to Fanny Crosby of an  event in New York City in which a little girl fell from her in panic.  The mother whispered ?Hush, my little one, you are safe now, in mother?s arms.?.

Jesus Loves YouThe song was played on August 8, 1885, when American President Ulysses S. Grant was interred.

Ira Sakey wrote of a mother recounting that her daughter asked to sing this song before she passed into the arms of Jesus.

Do you feel the arms of Jesus around you?

Have a great weekend everyone.

For those of you who remember Kevin M. Soileau, and his wonderful dog Jazz..... Jazz died in July.  Kevin is missing him as those of us who have had our pets die know.

The leaves are getting lovelier by the day, soon picture time. This weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving.  We are having Elizabeth and hubby Rob with their 2 kiddies here for dinner on Sunday.  That leaves them free for Monday. Most of you know that Elizabeth got married in July to a fine man Rob Martin.  Ivy and Maddie are beautiful (yes I am prejudice) little girls.

I was ganged up on by 2 dogs.  Zeke a rottie and Rambo John's spaniel. pulled it off very well.  Zeke wined and I told him to "Give it up and lay down", (he got into a skunk this week and we have him in the hall till we get peroxide to bathe him.)  Rambo immediately got in to it jumping up on my knee, and licking my chin. I asked him what HE wanted. he jumped down and pranced his way into the hall.... they both wanted out!!! at least that is what the "said".   What would we do without our boys!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a mostly sunny day with a high once again in the lower 90's.  I am hoping to have a somewhat busy day, at least more productive than yesterday.  I want to attend my weekly meeting this morning and then make a quick stop at Aldi's for just a few items.  I also need to stop at the service counter at Walmart and return a substitute that was put in the online grocery order that isn't what Pat wanted.  I may pick up a quick sandwich before I come home so I can rest when I get back.  There are a number of good football games on starting at noon so will watch some of them later this afternoon.

Janet, I am sorry to read that you are not happy with your publishing company.  I did a quick search on "how to move photos to a flash drive using a Mac" and I find there are numerous articles and instructions.  Perhaps that will help you with a step by step instruction.  At least on a PC you just insert the flash drive into the USB port and use the File Explorer to locate it as it will have a unique letter idenification and also where the pictures are or where you want them and then just drag and drop between the two.  Hope you enjoyed the dinner theater.  It has been many years since we attended one and we always enjoyed them.  However, the tickets were certainly not the price you have to pay now as that would be a non-starter for us.

Judy, thanks for getting us started for October and posting the good reading from Chris as well as the hymn and the back story about how it was written.  It is always a sad time to lose our pets.  Hope you have a fine time with Elizabeth, Rob and the kids for your Thanksgiving weekend.

Carol

Happy Thanksgiving Judy and Pat and all Canadians!

We have been without internet and phone for over a week - my, how dependent we are  on what we now consider necessary.  A repair person showed up suddenly today and fortunately we are in the house because it was scheduled next Wednesday.  I believe we are so impatient too - expecting so very much.  I cannot get the poor Indonesians out of my mind because they had no warning to the tsunami and it hit villages right by the sea.  How dreadful.  Prayers for all.  Our women's prayer group is headed by a missionary who resides many months of the year there and is now in home - it is a big enough country that she would not be near the damage - still a disaster for so many.

We have to take our car in for a check-up because we could not start it a couple of times. Just hoping we make it to the shop on Monday.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another lovely day here in South Carolina and it is suppose to stay in the mid to upper 80's today.  Our main activity will be attending Church.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back and get Pat for Church.  We will go somewhere to eat out.  We are having only one Church service today as it is World-Wide Communion Sunday and this service will be in the Fellowship Hall and be a blended service.  Yesterday was a very busy morning but got accomplished all that I had listed I planned to do yesterday.  I did watch college football and the teams I follow all won.

Carol, glad you got your internet back on line sooner than expected rather than later.  The pace of life has definitely picked up a lot due to instant communication and the ease of doing some things now.

Janet

We went to Hugoton and attended church at My Father's House today.  We hadn't had a good visit with Diane and Jeff in weeks and weeks, just seemed a good day to go.  It's been cloudy and rainy here all day, after a nice .6" rain last night.  I'm sure we got more today, and it's welcome.

My wonderful grandson Curtis came by Friday just as I finished typing the last piece of information the publisher wanted for my book; and he transferred everything to them!  He did in less than ten minutes, what it would have taken me two days to do, even had I known how to do it (Which I didn't/don't)  So, I am very thankful for his help!  The publisher said if I got it all to them before Oct. 30, they will have the book out and available by Christmas.  So I am well ahead of that date!   :cheer:

I'm signing off to get a bite to eat, and plan to retire EARLY (yes, again!) :) :D ;D

Hi Everyone.   It is another clear morning on this Columbus Day here in the USA with the temperatures to stay in the low 80's and isolated Thundershowers this afternoon.  This looks like it could be a pretty wet week here in South Carolina as the projected path of the new Gulf hurricane is expected to come across our whole State.  Yesterday I came home to pick up Pat for Church to find only that her back was hurting her and she decided to stay at home.  She had sent me a text but I hadn't checked it as when I left about an hour earlier she had planned to go.  We did have a very nice blended service and once again nice to be in a congregation of 4 to 5 hundred people.  Then I stopped at Firehouse Subs to get a small sub for me and I waited and waited but wasn't too surprised as I had never seen so many people there ahead of me.  Finally, the shift leader announced they were sorry for the wait but they had a lot of order backed up and were short of staff and if anyone wanted a refund they would gladly return our money.  I did get a refund as they hadn't even started on my order and then stopped at Bogangles to get the chicken nuggets that Pat had wanted and a grilled chicken sandwich for myself along with a side of their coleslaw for each of us.

Janet, I saw that you had sent off your book to the publisher and know that is a relief.  Glad Curtis came by and could help you with those last steps.  Spending time with family over a meal is also a very enjoyable experience.  Nice to see you are getting some rain.

Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for posting that!  Oh, Yes! We have so very much for which to be thankful!  Another good thought I heard or read recently is:  If tomorrow you have only the things you thank God for today, how would you feel?

Larry, we do enjoy visiting with "the kids" and hadn't done that in weeks.
So it was good to catch up.

Our rain gauge now shows a full 2 inches, and it's still raining!  This wet spell is to last still several more days.  It's coming slowly, so is a good soaking rain, the kind that does the most good.  When we left the gym, the water was running through where we parked the car, and was at least three inches deep, so we goth got our shoes and socks--and pant legs soaked!!
Brrrr!  It was cold!

I have to call and reserve a room for us in Madrid, as we have to stay over an extra night to make our flight connections work.  I hope I can do that without too much hassle!  Also have to touch base with Xulon Press and see if everything got transferred satisfactorily.

But right now, it's time to eat some breakfast!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are in for a cloudy 84 degree day with chances of more rain later today.  I checked the radar map this morning from our local TV station and it shows the Hurricane path veering off just a ways to the South of where I live.  However, we do expect some heavy rain as of last nights forecast and some winds.  Each day the picture changes a bit and now it is predicted to start affecting this area late tomorrow afternoon or evening.  It sure looks like it is going to be another bad Hurricane for the Gulf coast but weakening as it makes it way up toward the East Coast.  My main accomplishment for yesterday was to complete the Indexing of the recipes and links to recipes and helpful information for the two cooking discussions in the Homemaking folder.  It was a major job and required a lot of hours and careful attention to detail.  Today I plan on taking it easy but will be meeting with my friend for an hour this morning here at the house.

Marilyn, thanks for sharing that reading.  It is a good one and even in the midst of our own turmoils and crises we also have God's blessing and guidance as his plan for our life that of our loved ones is worked out.

Janet, I am impressed that you have had two inches of rain and going to get rain for the next few days.  It must have been a shock to have to walk through the water to get to your car when you left the gym.  When will you be going to Spain?

Carol

Everything is fixed on our car and we are always thankful to be able to pay the bill.  It was surprisingly average in cost.  I am waiting for Don to rise and shine so we can go to the gym; I would like to go to a genealogy meeting if he doesn't need me for phone calls, etc.  Rain - it sure floods in the desert when it rains.  Everything is fresh and clean and rain is really needed.

A new Hobby Lobby craft store is now closer to us and my project is to make some zipper bags for purses so the coupon I printed came in handy.  Also, it is so easy to make pot holders and everyone keeps them - I laughed out loud when a friend showed me her favorite - it was fabric with mountain animals and I must have made them years ago.

Larry:  It is still hot daily here in Arizona.  The weather is now rain and I mean heavy rains with flooding - the monsoon is late this year.  Prayers for Pat's back pain to ease!

Janet

Larry, we will only be in Spain for one day, at the end of the Morocco trip.  I had no trouble booking a room for us online.  Darrel was really worrying about it, so now he can relax!

It's still raining, and quite chilly here--43* when I looked at the thermometer in the car.  I went back to town and had a nice massage.  Friend of mine wanted to practice doing chair massages, and I was glad to let her practice on me!  I meant to take a few things for my space at the gallery; got them ready yesterday but forgot them in my hurry, so will have to make another trip.

I'm really sorry to learn that Nikki Haley has resigned as our Ambassador to the UN.  She did a terrific job, and didn't let anyone intimidate her!!

I want to touch base with my publisher, as I still haven't heard anything from them.  They apparently were closed yesterday.

Carol, I think I finally wore out almost all of the potholders Mom made. They were so much better than any you can buy.  So I'm sure your friends appreciate the ones you make, too.  I've seen a few videos of how the desert can flood, and it's amazing!

One of Darrel's hearing aids fell apart when he took it out of his ear Sunday, so I mailed it in to be repaired.  Sure hope it gets back before we leave!

Hi Everyone. Here in South Carolina we are awaiting the impacts that Hurricane Michael may have on this area.  We are to get a lot of rain, wind and the possibility of tornados.  I see on the Weather Channel that the Hurricane now has winds of 145 MPH.  I am glad we are as far away from the coast as we are.  It is a warm and humid 75 degrees here already.  Pat is up and plan on attending her craft group this morning and I will go on down to the restaurant and have coffee with any of my friends that are there today.  This evening we plan on eating at the Church and Scott plans to come out afterwards.

Carol, it is always a good feeling to know our cars are back in good shape and that the bill didn't break the bank.  Have fun at the Hobby Lobby.  Pat has made a dozen or so pot holders from quilted squares.  The ladies of the Church have their craft sale a week from today and this will be here contribution to the group although she will probably send down a casserole or baked good to be sold. Pat was feeling better this morning.  She awaiting the arrival of a TENS unit she ordered a few days ago and hopefully that will also help with the pain.

Janet, I had forgotten you planned to go to Morocco.  Glad you were easily able to make your room reservation in Spain. I agree with you on Nikki Haley.  She was our Governor at the time we moved here until she went to the UN.  I expect she will run for the Senate sometime in the future although our two Senators are still young.  I really like our young black Senator Scott.

Janet

Larry, I read your post early this morning; thought I would be back in here before now.  I was so tired and aching all over when I came home from the Artery, lay down in my recliner and napped until Darrel woke me to go to dinner at church.  Then we had a meeting afterward; so now I am more than ready to go to bed!

But at least now yours won't be the only post of the day!  Hey, everybody!
Come in and talk to us!

Hi Everyone. Still dark here in North Augusta, South Carolina but it looks like we have been very lucky so far from the Hurricane. It started raining about 2:30 am and then some wind and at 4:30 we lost power for about 20 minutes and then another very brief outage a little later. The Weather Channel has a reporter over in Augusta, Georgia, and he said we have had about 2 1/2 inches of rain in the area and we will get some more rain and moderate winds this morning but nothing severe is expected and then will clear off this afternoon. I am seeing some of the pictures that are showing the terrible destruction that some of the communities in Florida experienced. I am sure a lot more destruction will be visible as the sun comes up and the reporters can get around more.

Pat did go to her craft group at Church yesterday and then we stopped at Zaxby's for our lunch. The Wednesday evening activities were cancelled at the Church so Scott just came out and had one of the meatloaf dinners Pat had put together that we taken out of the freezer. I had gotten a new utility cart like we have in the kitchen that is so handy to use in the garage to get groceries from the car into the house and he put it together for us. I am taking a pass on going to coffee this morning as the old gentleman I pick up on Thursday isn't sure on his feet and a big gust of wind could blow him over plus it will still be raining. I just plan on a nice quiet day here at home.

Janet, thanks for checking in and leaving a message.  Are all of your displays at the Art Gallery in one location or scattered around amoung other works?

Janet

I'm impatiently waiting for that call that was supposed to come at 10:00!  I hope she didn't forget about me!

Larry, all my stuff is together in one place, the space I have rented.  I took a few things to decorate it:  flowers, a plant, and another painting it needed to look balanced.  ;)  If you look at my FB page, there have been photos of it on there.  If you don't find it, let me know and I will post one.  The others were posted by the gallery owner, Tracy.

So much devastation from the weather this year!  Glad you didn't get much severe weather, Larry.  We had a bit over three inches of rain over about a week's time, so nice, muddy road being the exception.  ;)

I'll hit post before my phone rings........hoping it does ring!!

Hello Larry and Janet, I do cme to tread evwry day but sometimes  don't post. Keith seems to be feeling better, He has his pre-op appointment next Wednesday.

I had foot surgery yesterday to remove the big toenail and the matrix killed. There will never be another toenail on that toe or the painful ingrown toenail  that preceded the surgery.

Janet good to hear that you are getting it all  together at the artery. I hope some of your beautiful painting sell for lots of $$$.  ;)

My day so far has been exercising, donating stuff, dealing with computer issues, and I had to rest.  Still some fatigue from whatever bug or food poisoning from the other day.  I paid a bill from the lab work of last doctor's appointment.  It should have been covered but my former doctors office was late in sending in the information.  With insurance, it would have been a lot less but was not covered - $257 for blood work.  See how we have such a crummy system.  That is why we always carry insurance but it sure isn't friendly in the USA.

Terrible and sad news from the hurricane.  Apparently, Georgia has not had a hurricane wind since the late 1800's.  I don't know - fires in the west and downpour and wind in the east and south.

Rebot:  Keep in touch.  It is always nice to see a new face.

Arizona has about 20% felons in the population.  That seems terribly high - I wonder if a lot of them vote.

Pasta and Alfredo Sauce for dinner.  It is my easy night.

Janet:  Good wishes on your sales.

Marilyn:  Hope you mend without any pain.

Greetings Janet  I hope that your paintings sell well and I will keep you in thoughts.   I don't use Facebook, could you send me a photo of one of your exhibits from the gallery please.

Greetings Carol   I watched the news program on Thursday and so much damage from the Hurricane in Florida.

I hope that the hurricane reduces with its wind intensity as soon as possible.

Hi Everyone. It is an absolutely beautiful morning here in North Augusta with clear skies and 53 degrees.  We are suppose to get up to only 74 degrees this afternoon, the first real day of fall weather.  Nothing particular on the schedule for today.  I took care of a lot of little chores yesterday and was really tired last evening and a bit draggy this morning so will probably lay back down for awhile after I finish here in the office and I get Pat's breakfast fixed and read or listen to my audio book.  One of my coffee drinking friends gave me a book on Wednesday.  Scott came out yesterday afternoon to take a shower before he went to work.  His electric was off all day.  It must have been on when he got off around midnight as if it weren't he planned to come out here to spend the night but didn't need to do so.

Janet, I will try to remember to look at your Facebook page to see your Gallery display.  We had a notice from our Homeowner's Association yesterday afternoon saying our yard man had surveyed the neighborhood and there was no damage.  Other places around our town did have damages from trees falling.  I guess that is the one nice thing about not having any large trees in our yards, which are too small for them.  We don't have to worry during a storm.  When I was growing up on the farm we lived on a dirt road and had to walk it daily to get to our little country school and back home.  I remember wading through the mud and snow and also around the barn where the mud would get real deep during certain period of the year.  I also remember dealing with the ruts in the roads.  That was a nice rain you all had.  I think we had between 3 and 4 inches of rain here from the Hurricane but haven't dumped the gauge yet.

Marilyn, sure glad to read that Keith is feeling better and hope that continues until he can have his surgery.  I have a pretty good idea of what you are experiencing with the toenail removal as had both of my big toenails removed a couple of years ago and don't miss them a bit. The daily care of them while they healed was a bit of a hassle and it took about 6 weeks for them to finally heal.

Rebot, of course we missed you posting.  Welcome back.  The terrrible hurricane damage in Florida has overshadowed the damage from the Hurricane in Georgia and other places as it remained a Cat 1 Hurricane for 250 miles inland.

Carol, I have a bill for lab work that Pat had done a few weeks ago to check on today to find out why the insurance didn't pay any of it.  I am thinking she may still have some part of her deductible for the year that hasn't been met although when we got the Rollator that supposedly finished meeting her deductible. I sure do miss Kaiser Health Insurance where we were not constantly getting medical bills to pay like with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  If you haven't heard they announced yesterday the Social Security Cost of Living increase for next year is 2.8%.  That also applies to Federal retirees.  This is the biggest increase we have had since 2012.

Janet

Larry, whatever shall we do with all that extra money?   I hope it will cover the inevitable increase in Medicare!  Well, a little is sure better than none!

We are predicted to have snow here on Sunday!  Kerri (youngest daughter) is coming from Salina to help celebrate Darrel's birthday, so I hope we won't get too much.  It probably will melt quickly, as the ground isn't cold yet.

It's time to go to the gym, and Darrel is ready, so guess I'd better scat!
See you later!

Rebot, how would I send you a photo?  I'd be glad to if I knew how, but I don't have your phone number nor email address!

I need to go to the Artery and take a new picture, since I added some things the other day.

Hi Everyone. It is going to be another gorgeous day here in South Carolina only getting up to about 75 degrees.  It is going to be a nice day for those attending college football games in the area. I am feeling much better this morning and looking forward to a good day.  I plan on attending a meeting this morning and perhaps stopping to get a haircut and a brief stop at Aldi's to pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. Yesterday was pretty much a lost day as had no energy, certainly nothing to write about.

Janet, I am not unhappy with the cost of living increase for next year.  Hope you don't get much snow.  Happy Birthday to Darrel and hope Kerri can be there to help celebrate it.

Rebot, as always you are most welcome.  We are happy to have to joining us.

Janet, you are correct and I checked and Rebot's email address is available there if you click on the little envelope under her screen name.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  You must be well up on computers.  Lovely of you to tell Janet how to contact me.

What is your living increase for next year, or is it information I should not ask you about.

Janet

Rebot, if you scroll back a day or two, Larry posted about our cost of living increase in our Social Security checks.

I have been in an alcohol inks tiles class again today; learned some new techniques, and will have three more Christmas gifts done!

We are waiting for our out of town guests, who went to Hugoton instead of here.  They are working on Diane's AC at her store.  That gives me time to rest for a while, and my back will appreciate that, as it's hurting.

It's 64* now, but cold and snow is on the way, so they tell us!

Flowers are blooming in the desert.  There has been rain and fog for several days more
like a mini monsoon but it is later than usual.  A shrub of mini bright yellow flowers is blooming in the front yard so it is colorful at what we would expect to be a dull time of the year.

The stores are over the top about Halloween.  I don't know how anyone else feels about that day of the year - to me it is a terrible waste of money on costumes and really a dangerous time for the children.  My children are adults and they never drive on that evening and even grandchildren try to stay out of their vehicles - children run straight into the street without looking.

Am so thankful for getting over what seemed like food poisoning this week.

Janet:  I do hope your back feels better - guests coming?  I hope they are good friends too.  They will understand if you have to rest.

Larry:  Your game is on right now.  That is a huge crowd!  We try to stay away from crowds anymore.  Hope your Georgia guys win!

Take care everyone!  How is the weather in Canada?

Rebot

Greetings Larry   I  noticed you talked about a TENS machine, they are excellent in dealing with pain issues.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  I know little about the cost of living.  But I thought it best to look at Larry's post on the topic you mentioned.

It mentioned an increase of 2.8%.  Though I noticed your countries inflation rate for next year is forecast to be 2%.  That to me means an increase of 0.8%.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. It looks like it will be another very pleasant day getting up to around 80 degrees late this afternoon.  It is in the 50's right now.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church and have everything laid out to fix Pat's breakfast when she arises in a few minutes.  As of now I expect she will want me to come home and get her for Church.  We will then go out to eat somewhere.  I will rest when we get home and then watch some more pro football games from the comfort of my easy chair.

Yesterday afternoon we went to Texas Roadhouse for our main meal.  It was the first time Pat had gone to a restaurant using her Rollator and it worked well.  When we got to the table I folded it up and set it at the end of the table.  Fortunately, the isles were wide.  I did go to my meeting yesterday morning and then stopped at Aldi's as planned.  Unfortunately, neither South Carolina nor Georgia won their college football games yesterday.

Rebot, I have been using computers for around 25 to 30 years now and have learned more than I can remember now but with the help of the Internet and YouTube videos I can usually find out how to do most things on the computer.  I did teach several classes for our SeniorNet Learning Center during the 10 years I was associated with that organization.  That Learning Center eventually broke away from SeniorNet and became independent and is still in operation as far as I know.  Pat did get her TENS unit in the mail yesterday and was reading the book that came with it last evening.  The Cost of Living increase is based on a formula of where the inflation  increases during July, August and September of the current year compared to the same period of the year before and that determines the rate to be applied to the next year.

Janet, I don't think I ever heard of alcohol inks before.  It is fun to learn something new and you are getting an early start on your Christmas gifts.

Carol, I bet the desert is beautiful if things are flowering.  I agree with you on the waste of money on Halloween.  We try to stay home that evening as well and do not participate in the trick or treating at the door anymore.  We just don't turn on the porch light and have had no knocks on the door for the last couple of years.  Our Family Room is at the back of the house and it isn't easy for either of us to get up continually and answer the door.  There are also no little children anywhere on our end of the street.  Glad you are feeling better.  College football games do draw very large crowds.

Janet

Good Sunday morning to you all!  It is a chilly 32* here, with predictions of a little snow tonight, maybe one inch.

We celebrated Darrel's 81st birthday yesterday evening, with all of our kids and grandkids except the Grandson and wife who are in Florida.  We just went to a local restaurant which is a Mexican restaurant, but now also serves very nice steaks.  There were eight adults and three children, and the restaurant had set up tables for us on one side of the dining room which is behind a half-wall, so was a little bit secluded.  Daughter from Salina came, but left immediately after to go home.  :(  She comes so seldom, I was hoping she would stay at least until after church this morning.  But her guy friend (I think fiance' now) was to be on Security Duty at their church in Wichita this morning, so they took off.  Sigh.....   Well, Darrel enjoyed the little "party", and he was the guest of honor, so that's what counts!  Little Chelsea, the middle great-granddaughter, brought him a yellow balloon which she had blown up and tied off, all by herself; then wrote "Happy Birthday" and drew hearts on it, along with a nice note saying happy birthday, I love you, I hope you have a 'grat' day, with more hearts.   :)  He really liked her efforts!

We have a little meeting with Pastor's wife after church about the Guatemala trip.  We are to bring final papers and payment, along with our passport information.

I now have three endorsements for my book, am getting excited about having it available!

Have a great day, everybody!

Greetings Larry  Could you  let me know what Pat thinks of her TENS machine please.   As its use is related to what was my vocation in life.

My hubby asked me to ask you about the 2.8% increase.  He said does it factor in an inflation rise that might occur after September.  And what if foodstuffs and other household increases occur,  Would the 2.8% increase be enough?

Carol

We have a TENS unit saved from years ago.  It did help with some back pain after surgery.  I am sure it cannot help everyone but sometimes the hospital will loan the unit.

Rebot:  The price on food is rising - especially vegetables and fruit.  We are now into non-growing season and certainly the damage to the state of Florida and other states from the last two hurricanes will factor into everyone's cost of living.

Janet:  How sweet of your great-granddaughter!  Darrel and you must be feeling good for planning a trip to Guatemala.

Two Humming Birds spotted today.  One is a solid green color.

JudyB

Carol we have massive problems with our health system.  Despite what many say, we are out of pocket for many things and waiting times are upwards to a year. Also there are many blood tests that we also have to pay for. We don't have supplementary insurance at all so we are out of pocket.....

Well the tree colour has come and nearly gone.  the tree tops are somewhat bare, and a good wind will remove the rest.  We have had our first load of wood delivered, this is much easier than cutting it ourselves.  Now the work of putting it into the basement.  John has been lighting  the (wood) furnace morning and night for a few weeks now....soon it will be all day.  Buying wood is much less expensive than using oil.

Tomorrow I babysit my 2 grand daughters, Elizabeth's girls. Ivy is now in school and Maddie is a going concern at 15 months.

Well I am off have a good evening everyone.

Rebot

Greetings Carol  Of course, not every patient will not benefit from using a TENS machine.

TENS is not a cure for pain, but when it is being used, it will provide pain relief in the short term.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. Our summer weather is returning for a couple of days as we expect to get into the mid-80's this afternoon.  However, it is nice and in the low 60's this morning but it soon warms up.  I expect to have a quiet Monday at home with nothing special on the agenda.  Pat did join me for Church yesterday and then we went out to the Sunshine Grill for our lunch.  She did use her Rollator for the first time for going into the Church service and then again when we got to the restaurant.

Janet, it sounds like it is time to polish up that snow shovel.  That sounds like a very pleasant birthday celebration with so many of the family gathered together. I bet that balloon is a gift Darrel will not soon forget.

Rebot, Pat plans on using the TENS unit today and needs me to help her get it on her back.  In answer to your hubby's question on the 2.8%, the answer is know.  It uses only the three months I mentioned although that is the year to date inflation rate not just the increase for one of the three months.  So if inflation went on to increase to 3% that would not be considered.  The government measures the cost of living increase in several different ways but the law specifies which of the inflation measurements to be factors in.  One think it does not consider is the increase in health care costs that impact seniors the most and those costs go up every year.

Carol, our daughter found the TENS unit helpful to relieve some of the pain she experienced with her back.  This is a nice unit Pat got that comes in its own carrying case and has large pads.  She got one a year or so ago that we had to return as it didn't work.

Judy, our health system seems to be gravitating more and more to the way yours works.  However, we are not there yet.  I was under the false impression that your health system was free of cost at the time it was needed.  Of course, nothing the government does is free as it is the taxes paid that actually pay the costs.  We haven't really seen any color in most of our trees yet although they are looking rather drab.  Glad you are not having to cut up your own wood this year.  That is very hard work I know as used to help my dad do that job on the farm when we heated with wood.  I bet those two great granddaughters kept you on your toes.

Carol

Judy:  I hope your back is strong - taking care of the toddlers.  As to health care, I see a great amount of money being spent on helping those on drugs - opioids and so forth.  If only society would return to the church, a lot of misery and health issues would disappear.  If the country south of us would shape up and care for their own - it wouldn't fall to us to pay for the high-risk patients along the border.

Larry:  I am glad to read that Pat is using her rollator - it is for her safety and she can keep visiting with friends.  I tried sewing a zipper pouch (small) yesterday and it looks lopsided so something is wrong.

Don is off to Acupuncture this afternoon.  It has helped some years but we never know - for a shoulder pain.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  I do hope Pat does have some relief with the TENS machine.

Hubby said that seniors usually are worse off with increases.

Janet

I managed to get some work done today; spent a few hours cleaning in my studio--it needed it!!

We are still working on getting ourselves strong so we can do the Guatemala trip and do the work required, along with the up and downhill walking.  But the Morocco trip is first, we leave for there a week from tomorrow.  (30th)

I'm tired, will go to bed and read a while.  I'm reading The Paradigm by Johnathan Cahn.  Fascinating!

See you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone. This is suppose to be the last day we are in the 80's, at least for a few days.  We also have a 50% chance of afternoon showers.  This is going to be a busy morning.  The kitchen choirs have been done and Pat's breakfast fixed for her.  In about an hour or so I will drive her down to to Church so she can help in the pricing of the items for the women's bazaar that will be held tomorrow.  I will come home and meet with my friend for an hour at 10 am and then go back down to the Church to get Pat and we will go to Chik-Fil-Lay for a good lunch.  I also contacted an individual to see about getting the outside of our home pressure washed and a repair done on the gate to our fence into the back yard.  He is suppose to call sometime today to set a time to come over and give me an estimate of the cost.  That will be it for today and that is plenty.

Carol, I would like to see a ban put on advertising drugs on TV like they did with cigrarettes many years ago.  By the time they tell you of all the terrible side effects possible with them I have to wonder why a doctor would prescribe them.  I hope Don's Acupuncture treatment brought him some relief.

Rebot, Pat still hasn't used the TENS unit but it is here when she is ready to try it.  I just heard and advertisement this morning for the drug store chain Walgreens saying they have now filled over 2 Billion prescriptions and that is just one drug store chain.

Janet, you and Darrel certainly have a full schedule ahead with your foreign travel.  Our Church is having a "Pancakes for Bolivia" fund raiser to help support the annual mission trip members of our Church go on.  The lady heading this effort this year spoke briefly to our Sunday School class last Sunday and told us the trip costs around $35,000.  We have another mission team that goes to one of the Central America countries annually as well.

Judy, have you heard any more from Pat.  I just read on Facebook that she was headed back to the hospital due to a problem that has developed with her hip and was requesting our prayers.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  I think you will find that all prescriptions that are given to us from the  Doctor, will have a leaflet enclosed about the medication.  Telling us what it is for, when to take it, and the make up of the medication.  What is also listed,  is the possible side effects, that range from very rare cases of side effects to side effect's that might happen occasionally.   Though, in most cases most patients wont suffer any side effects at all.

And some prescribed medications in their 'make up' do have opioids.

I see like me you have the odd 'typo' now and again.  In your post you meant kitchen chores, but said choirs, unless you were singing in the kitchen!  :)

JohnB

Hi Larry. Just to answer your question about Pat. She has not come home from Hospital from her surgery yet. The hospital they are transferring her to has a large rehab program to help patients get back up and going after such surgeries. At the moment that's all we know for now. Hope all is going well with you. I sure wish sometimes that I lived down there where you are. We had our first snow of the season last night. Not looking forward to it coming again. I find that as I get older, I enjoy winter less each year. I would be a good candidate to go south for the winter if we could afford to do it. That's a bout it for the moment. Blessings everyone.

Thank you Jacqueline for the beautiful card supporting Pat!!  It is very kind of you to take the time in making the card.

Thanks John B for the update on Pat.  She is in prayer.

Janet:  You sound pretty busy with a couple of trips coming up and a lot of walking.  I hope the weather cooperates for you two.

Yesterday, I did get some fabric cut for a couple of projects.  That was in between making appointments, etc.  Don had a favorable outcome to the Acupuncture treatment.  He could drive without pain so we hope it works alright.

My neighbor calculate three inches of rain over the last few days.

Janet

Jacqueline, that's a lovely card for our Pat!  Thank you for that, and do come back and visit with us!  We can't bite, from so far away!  ;)

Larry, sounds like you are staying busy, as usual.  And if you do sing in the kitchen, I'm sure it sounds beautiful!  :)

Carol, that much rain in Arizona surprises me!  But the weather has been crazy all over the place.

Yes, we are going to the gym and working pretty hard to get into shape for the walking required for the two trips.  The Guatemala one is an extra that wasn't planned, but we want to go help the missions team.

John, good to see a post from you, and thanks for the little update on Pat. She has suffered so much over these past three years, I just wish there were some way I could help her.

I agree about the medicine advertisements.  By the time they list all the possible side effects--including death--I say I'd rather keep my original problem, thank you.  Yes, we get all those inserts, but we do not read every word.

After going to the gym, we made a big breakfast, called it Brunch, then went out and cleaned in the garage for a couple hours or so.  Then I came to my computer, sent the back matter for the book, sent three endorsements, got out suitcases and talked about what we need.....been a busy and tiring day!
I planned to do some painting, but don't know if I have the energy left for it now.  Anyway---see you all later!

Greetings   I think the prescription leaflets sometimes are read by patients, before they take the medication.  And in some cases. after the leaflets are read, patients won't take the medication.

Hi, friends,

What a long time to be away! Our apartments are being renovated and, 2 floors at a time, we must either move into an open apartment in the tower, or be sent to a hotel for the period of about 2 months.  Of course I would fall into into the hotel group.  All my possessions were packed up by a moving company and stored in a storage facility, even including my piano.

I did not have access to the internet while away.  Today is the first time I have had internet access.  It has been so good to read posts from all of October.

My fixed up apartment is wonderful  Now, I must get things unpacked and put away.

I must close for the night. May God richly bless each person who comes here.

Ruth Ann, what an inconvenience for you to be moved to a hotel!  But how nice to have a newly renovated apartment, all sparkling and shiny!  Enjoy!  You were missed, and it's so good to have you home again. Love you!

This is Wednesday, so I get to go paint with my friends!!  I enjoy it ever so much.  Also, my book is in production.  I sent the endorsements I have yesterday, also re-sent the "back matter" for the back cover.  I hope to get them everything they need before we leave on October 30 for Morocco.  We will be gone about 15 days.

Time to wake Darrel so he can have his tea before we go to the gym!

Later, Peeps!

Hi Everyone. My morning is starting out at 67 degrees and is to get into the low to mid 80's this afternoon.  Pat did not go and help with the Bazaar setup preparation as it required a lot of carrying of items from one building to another and that is something she can no longer do.  However, she does want to go down and take the Bazaar is this morning so I will be taking her later this morning.  This evening we plan on going back to the Church for our Wednesday Night dinner and then enjoying a time of visiting with Scott. I know of nothing else on the schedule for today.

Yesterday we did go to Pizza Hut for our main meal of the day.  They have a noon buffet 5 days a week.  We stopped at the Pharmacy where we got the Rollator to see about an attachment so the cane could be affixed to the Rollator and they didn't have one in stock that would work with the model of Rollator that Pat has.  I did not hear back yesterday from the man I contacted to pressure wash the house and hope to hear from him today.

Rebot, if I sign in the kitchen it is usually under my breath so that was just a good old typo.  Glad it could be deciphered as to what I met.  Yesterday on the news we had word that new regulations are being considered that would require drug coompanies to reveal in their TV ads the costs any medicine over $35/month.  They said the 5 highest selling drugs cost anywhere from $500 to $11,000 per month.  Apparently there has been a rule in effect that prevented the Pharmacist from advising that there is a cheaper generic drug available.  Both of these chances would certainly be user friendly and sound like a good thing to me.  Of course the drug companies are going to fight in court to stop them and will probably be able to find a judge somewhere who will do so.  We do look at the information sheets we get with medications when first prescribed.  They come everytime with the prescriptions we get from Walmart and from our mail order drug company for non-generic drugs.

John, thanks for the update on Pat.  I am glad to see she will be getting some rehab and hopefully this will be of great assistance to her.  I sure don't envy you the snow and not having it is sure a nice benefit of living in the south.

Jackie, that is a lovely get well card.  I second Janet's comment that we would like to see you posting a little more often.  We miss you.

Carol, it was nice to read that Don had a favorable outcome from the Acupuncture treatment.  Isn't that  a lot of rain for your area?

Janet, unfortunately I no longer have a very strong voice.  I  now very often leading the singing in our Sunday School class and when I come to the higher notes I find I have to shift down and octave or my voice gets strained.  Enjoy your painting with your friends today.

Ruth Ann, welcome back and I am sure you are delighted to get back into your newly refurbished apartment.  How is your sister-in-law doing?

Hi Everyone. Finally we are to have a cooler day only getting up to in the low 70's this afternoon.  This morning it is a pleasant 64 degrees outside.  This is a good morning for a sweater or a light jacket when going out.  I will be picking up my friend and we will go downtown to coffee this morning and after I return him home I will stop at the pickup point and get the grocery order at Walmart that Pat placed a couple of days ago. That is my schedule for today.  Yesterday we did have a pretty busy morning as went down to the Church Bazaar for an hour or so and left a few dollars in the cash box.  We then went to the barber shop where we each got a needed haircut and finally to Walmart Pharmacy where Pat got a flu shot and a Shingles Shot.  I checked my records and found I did have the pneumonia shot a couple of years ago and had forgotten and that I was in error thinking I had to have a second flu shot.  So am down to only needing one more shingles shot and I will be all caught up on shots. I went to the Wednesday night dinner at the Church and Scott joined me and then came out to the house.  I bought a take out meal to bring home to Pat as she was too tired to go back downtown.

Jackie, while I know the test you have or had today is not a pleasant one from what Pat has told me I know it is an important one.  Actually men sometimes do have that test as they can also get breast cancer.

Rebot, I hope you are enjoying some nice fall weather.

Ruth Ann, it is frustrating to lose a post that we have spent time preparing and sort of takes the "wind out of the sails".

Jackie, your comment on reincarnation reminds me of what my kids said.  My husband is such a dog lover they said, "If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as one of Darrel's dogs!" (Just in case you wonder--NO, we do NOT believe in reincarnation!)  They knew that Darrel's dogs always got great care, plenty of love, and good food! Of course, they did, too!  ;)

We are off to Garden City soon as I have an appointment with eye specialist for the five months checkup on the Macular Degeneration.  I'm praying if there is any change, it's for the better!

Ruth Ann, sorry you lost your post--come back and try again, please.

Praying for Pat Scott Halbach today, with much love.

We have quite a long list of things we need to get while in a larger town today.  And I'd like to be back in town by 4:30 to attend a friend's birthday party; then there is church council meeting tonight, where they will be voting on some of the sanctuary remodel things, including the focal point, which I'm on the committee to choose some designs for them to consider.

I must pack this evening or in the morning, as this is the weekend of Comfort Zone, the bereavement camp which Hospice does at Camp Lakeside near Scott City.  John and I are going, I have heard really good things about what a positive time this is.  I've really been missing Beth as I'm finishing up the book (hope I'm done now) but of course that empty place in my heart will remain until we are reunited in heaven.  I don't dwell on it, I am doing well, but as you all know, the missing them is a constant.

I will be back!!

Larry, it appears we were typing at the same time, so I came back to tell you "hello"-- Hello, Larry!   :D  Yes, men can and do get breast cancer!  My Dad had it!  They actually took the lymph nodes from his upper arm (inner side) and he had really bad scarring from that, but they got it all and there was never any recurrence, thank God.

Did you say a second shingles shot?  I had one, and was told wouldn't ever need another one!  We got flu shots for the first time in years, and neither of us had any adverse reaction to them, so that's good.

Well--color me gone again!

Early appointment for my mammogram this morning...only one downside, this was done inside a mobile unit outside in a car-park but the unit was so high up and with two sets of high riggety old outside steps with rail bars but, although at the top where the rail bars ended, I could get myself inside, this was a different story when on leaving, the heavy door that was open seemed too far away for me to take that gamble on reaching, the steps rail bars my near side didn't start until you reached the steps, so I found myself hesitating when on stepping back out...On arrival I got Richard to follow up carrying my rollator only to have to take it back down with him, leaving me upstairs inside the mobile unit without it, as they said he was a man, and the men were not allowed inside the unit, nor was there much room for me to maneuver it around, so back down it went without me...Oh and I have to now wait three weeks for my mammogram results, yet if I had travelled to Poole Hospital, some 23 miles away to have it done, I was told by reception desk girl I would have gotten my results today...and now for the wait... ::)

So far, I have had mammograms yearly with no problems.  We pay for insurance and this is a yearly test and check-up scheduled.  We can get results immediately unless there would be a blip on the screen.

I took Keith to both of the pre op appointments yesterday. The Urologist is going to do the surgery robotically and said that if he  can't get  by the hernia that the surgery will be aborted and a new date set for Laser surgery. If all goes as planned he will get to come home the next day if he can FART. If he can't then when he does fart he can come home. Then we can removed the catheter a week later. He will probably have to wear Depends for awhile until he  is able to hold his urine long enough to reach the bathroom.  That shouldn't take long just until everything is properly healed. We opted for not fixing the hernia, the screen has slipped to one side and probably haas adhesion's surrounding it.

So we need prayer that  the Robotic surgery goes as planned without any difficulty regarding the hernia.

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful but cool morning here in South Carolina with a clear sky and bright sunshine.  How could it be any better.  Our housekeeper will be here soon as another two weeks have flown by.  We had a brief visit from our son this morning which was an unexpected surprise.  There is nothing else on the schedule for today and just hoping for a pretty restful day.

Janet, I hope you were able to accomplish all you had on your schedule yesterday.  That was a lot for one day.  I hope you and John find comfort from the bereavement camp.  Our Church offers a bereavement class and I have heard good things about it.  I hope your ideas for your Church focal point were accepted at your meeting last evening. I don't know if you remember Oscar from Florida, who was a Mensa member, who died from the breast cancer.  I had the opportunity to met he and his wife at the Atlanta Bash many years ago.  Yes, I did say a second shingles shot.  I even got something from Walmart in the mail about it.  The vaccine is called Shingrix and it says the second (final) dose can be given 2 to 6months after the first shot, which will be next month for me and then my shots will all be caught up until the next flu season.

Jackie, glad that test is over for you but it sounds like the next time a trip further would be indicated.  Sorry you have to wait for the results.

Carol, Pat also has the mammogram yearly and has had problems in the past and they watch a spot but it apparently is not a problem and she is back on a yearly test rather than every six months.

Marilyn, I will be praying for you and Keith in the days ahead and certainly hope the robotic surgery goes well and that is requires only an overnight stay in the hospital.

Larry, I used up my energy before the day ended yesterday, so didn't attend the church council meeting.  I had already given my best, considered opinion, and it will not change anything for me if they do something different.  After all, the building is NOT the church, the PEOPLE are the church.  I got everything else on my list done, so that's okay.

I'm packed and waiting for John to come pick me up to go to the camp.  I really expect it to be a blessing to both of us, and I've already prayed that the Lord will use me to bless others there.

Marilyn, I'll be remembering you and Keith in my prayers; also you, Jackie.
Out here, a trip of 23 miles is only next door.  Have you asked your doctor to prescribe  the drug Myrbetriq for the bladder issues?  It's literally been a life changer for me.  Wouldn't hurt to inquire!

Time to go to Morocco is approaching so quickly!  We got a phone call yesterday from our trip leader there.  Guess what his name is?  Yep, it is Mohamed Menai.  (I hope we can just call him "MOE".  Ha ha  He sent his picture with the email, also.

I just received the corrected cover photo for the cover of my book.  I didn't like the font they used at first, so had them change it.  I'm trying to be assured I have done all I can on it before we leave for two weeks, as I don't want any unnecessary delays in the production.

Talk to you when I get home from the Comfort Zone.

Greetings Larry  Kept buy at home with hubby, since he trapped his finger in the car door.   As I have to do most for him.  He never complains dear man.

Even when I get him to do his exercises, which must be completed daily.  That's when my training kicks in!

Greetings Janet   When you visit Morocco, try and visit one of the Souks.

Their Bazaars and Market places (souks),  I found very interesting.

Hi Everyone. Today's forecast shows that we will be having a lot warmer and day today than yesterday as we will get up to around 80 degrees and have wind and a possibility of rain. It is to be cloudy all day.  My schedule is light for today as just plan on going to a meeting and then stopping to get the air pressure checked in my tires as have had a low pressure light on the dash for several days.   I look forward to watching some college football this afternoon and early evening.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day with just the housekeeper here and then at noon we went out to eat our main meal of the day.  I was laying down resting and my Ring doorbell rang and it was the man I had called about giving me an estimate on the cost of pressure washing my house and fixing my gate.  He has to get back to me on the costs.

Jackie, sorry you have to endure such problems.  I often fall back on the saying that "it is what it is" and we have to adjust our lives accordingly.

Janet, I am proud of you listening to your body that you had done all you could do yesterday and so missed the evening meeting and didn't push yourself further to attend.  You are right that the People are the Church.  By the time you read this you will likely be back from the camp and I hope it was a very positive and helpful experience for both of you.

Rebot, I printed out some instructions on exercises that senior can do and must get started doing them.  I know you are a big help to your hubby and that he appreciates what you do for him.  Are the souks the small outside market places one sees in pictures from Morocco?

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid to hear you are looking to do some exercises today.  Exercise is vital to our everyday lives, whether we are young or old, abled bodied or like hubby with a disability and other conditions.   I could have advised you with an exercise program.

Not all souks are outside the town, some are in the town square.  One thing they are not is quiet!  From our own experience, they can be very busy!

The sellers can be very persuasive and if they continue to ask you to buy, just say no.

And don't pay what they ask, barter, haggle with them.  always go lower than they ask.

Marilyn

Rebot I am guessing that you live in the UK? Where do you live? I always like to hear about the places people live. I live in Oregon USA. On the coast so the weather is quite nice here, we do get a lot of rain in some years, others not so much, It has snowed here maybe 3 times in the last 10 years around lat November one year and over Christmas another year. this morning there is Fog.

I also have a wonderful Certified Therapy, ( Queensland Blue Heeler, named Freckles) dog that I take on visits to the patients at the hospital and local care facilities and assisted living places. In the spring we go to the schools to teach the K-2 children  how to be safe around dogs and how to be responsible pet owners. We belong to a group called Furry Friend Therapy Dogs of Coos Bay Oregon. At home she  doubles as my Service Dog.  We also have 5 cats, my hubby is the cat person, actually one of cats is mine that I brought home from where i worked, to save his life, they we going to put him to sleep because he tested positive for Leukemia, that was 5 years ago. We think is is just a carrier because none of the other cats have  contracted it from him.

My Hubby has Alzheimers, and I am his caregiver. I am almst 79 and he is 72. However I am, very active, je is not and has never been very active.

Yes, I am home, Larry, and not a bit happy about it.  We were asked to leave the camp because John had been vomiting for 24 hours straight!  They wanted me to take him to Garden City Hospital's Emergency room.  I told them there wasn't a ghost of a chance he would let me do that, and he didn't.  He started to climb back into his bunk, but the camp director told him, "John, you cannot stay here.  For your safety and the safety of all the other campers, you have to leave."  They had one of the fellows pack up his stuff, one of the ladies helped me with mine, loaded it into John's car, and he started to get behind the wheel.  I said, John, I will drive, you aren't in any shape to drive.  He didn't object.  I was very uncomfortable because he had projectile vomited in the car before we got to the camp, made no attempt to cover his mouth, and it splattered all over the wheel, the dash, everywhere.  Ugh.  And he didn't clean it up!  So here I was driving and thinking about how nasty that steering wheel was, it nearly made me want to throw up too!  So I stopped at a convenience store, went into the restroom and wet several paper towels, put soap on them, took some dry towels, too; and went and cleaned the wheel and dash.  Then I used hand sanitizer on the wheel.  He continued to vomit all the way home!
He was throwing up blood, but telling me it was only Pepto Bismol.  I know it wasn't, he never takes any kind of medicine except Alka Seltzer.  He felt so bad I took him directly to his apartment, parked and let him go inside, then called Darrel to come get me.  John is supposed to call me in the morning to let me know how he is feeling.

I was getting so much from the camp, I cried because I wasn't ready to leave, but since I rode with John, I had no choice.  They all felt bad for me and told me I'm welcome to come back next year.  They gave me a number and asked me to call and let them know I got home safely, which I did.
Sorry, I know, TMI.   :(

Now I need to go unpack my bedding and things.  I packed it all in one big suitcase.  Easier than keeping track of several smaller bags.

Yes, Rebot, visiting the souks is on the agenda!

Hi Everyone. It is a cool and crisp but sunny 55 degree morning here and we are headed only to the low 60's this afternoon.  I just finished fixing Pat's breakfast and finishing up the kitchen chores and have only a few minutes before I will need to leave for Sunday School.  I think Pat will want me to come and get her for Church this morning and then we will go out to eat afterwards.  I did get to my meeting and then went to Costco, along with a lot of other people it seemed.  I am looking forward to watching some football this afternoon and that will be it for today.

Rebot, I did walk over 1700 steps yesterday.

Marilyn, glad you have Freckles as know he will bring a lot of comfort and help to you in the days ahead as you care for Keith.

Janet, so sorry to read how ill John was and you terrible experience of getting him home.  I am glad you found a little benefit from the short time you had at the camp and hopefully next year you will be able to stay for the whole time.  I do hope John is feeling better today and if not will go to the emergency room.  That sounded like a nightmare drive home.

Ruth Ann, I hope you are soon able to get your computer setup so it is more convenient for you.

Hi Jackie.  I certainly agree with your comments.

Janet

Jackie, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.  That's a very old saying, and applies about John.  I could have taken him to the hospital, but I couldn't carry him inside, nor could I make him stay.  I asked him why he's so scared of doctors, and wouldn't he rather find out what his problem is and get it fixed, so he could have a better quality of life?  But nothing I say makes a difference.  Several of the men on staff tried to talk to him, and got the same response, "I'm NOT going to the hospital!  I'm NOT going to a doctor!"  So there's really nothing I can do.

Larry, it was a nightmare trip home, and I was so glad when Darrel picked me up and it was over.  John called this morning, said he was better but still "not feeling well" and wasn't coming to church.

Well, it is time to be getting started packing for Morocco!  We will go vote in the morning (early voting) and tomorrow evening we have a meeting with our financial advisor.  There will be plenty to fill the other days this week, as well, I'm sure.

But right now, I am going to attempt to take a little nap!  ;)

Hi Everyone. Hi everyone.  For the first time this season we have our heat on in the house as it was 68 in here when we got up and we like it about 72 or 73.  It has been a busy morning and I am late coming here to read and write.  I did the kitchen chores and got Pat's breakfast.  She needed a few things to make the stew and chili she plans to make as well as some apple butter.  I needed more breakfast drink and had to replace my sunglasses as the stem broke on Saturday.  It was in the 40's outside so a jacket felt good and Walmart always seems to be cold.  When I got home I packaged up three pounds of stew meat in pound bags and also about 4 lbs of hamburger that comes from Costco in half pound pieces but each one needed to be wrapped in shrink wrap and stored in freezer bags.  Those items are now in the freezer and the mess cleaned up.  I told Pat not to expect much more out of me today as think I used up my day's supply of energy.  I may need to fix lettuce salads for us to go with the stew. which I am pretty sure she plans for our dinner tonight.

Janet, John's behavior makes me wonder a bit if he is trying to see his life end so he can be with Beth again.  You are right that you have done all you can do.  I hope you don't exhaust yourself this week so you will be full of energy for your trip to Morocoo.

Jackie, it sounds like you all use a lot of the same sayings we do here and who knows they may have come from you all since your country is so much older than ours.

Rebot, when I told my cardiologist that I had set a goal of walking at least a 1,000 steps each day he said it would be better if I could do 2,500.  I told him that just wasn't going to happen and he didn't argue with me.  I do try to get more than the 1,000 but that doesn't always happen.  Fortunately our house is laid out in a fashion that makes walking pretty easy and if I haven't been out and about I will walk in the house as it is nice and flat.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm taking a break from paper work to check my computer.

Janet, have a good trip. Larry, I, too, am counting steps. Rebot, it's nice you joined the group while I was away. Jackie, it's so good to see your posts. Marilyn, I think of you and Keith often. Carol, thanks for the nice welcome.

If I didn't speak to you individually, I'm sorry.

Love to all,

Good for you, Larry!  I walked a mile on the treadmill at a pace of 3/1/2 MPH and an incline of 3 1/2 %; then did some leg exercises on some of the machines.  NOT suggesting you try to do more, just telling you we are trying to have plenty of strength for our upcoming journey. I was wondering recently if you were doing a bit of walking lately.  You have had a busy morning!  Get some rest this afternoon.  :)

Jackie, I often wonder where some of those old "true-isms" came from.  They still prove right today, after so many years.  The other day a group of us were talking about Ben Franklin's saying "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."  One of the ladies said it isn't true, because she and husband have done that, and are neither very healthy, nor wealthy nor wise.  We told her they are very wealthy, compared to 90% of the people in the world--she agreed.

Rebot, John doesn't have a virus.  Darrel thinks it's likely bleeding ulcers.
Whatever it is is not contagious, and he has been suffering with it for at least five years that I'm aware of, and never once has he gone to see a doctor.  Maybe he is just waiting to be with Beth again, but he doesn't say so.  Just "I'll be all right."  I need to call and check on him again.

Darrel cleaned the hot tub good, refilled it and it's now up to temp again, so we enjoyed it for a few minutes when we got home from the gym.

And......this isn't getting my packing done.  We leave a week f rom tomorrow!

Just popped back to say HI to Ruth Ann.  "Hi, Ruth Ann!!"

Janet:  I hope you don't "catch that bug".

Ruth Ann:  I hope you find the perfect spot for your computer -

Yesterday, I made a crock pot with vegetable soup and today a bit of pasta will be cooked with the leftovers.  Don has a medical appointment this afternoon - thankful for the crock pot being invented.  It was a gift when I returned to the work force and the children were all in school.  Since, I have two sizes and they have more settings.  My mother would have appreciated it when we were young - she did have a Deep Well in the stove and we had what was considered a built in crock pot but we didn't know it at the time.  Chicken and Dumplings or Fish Chowder - and I would start it for oatmeal in the mornings when I was a grade school girl.  Always a nice smell to the kitchen.

Don has an afternoon appointment today - we did get a walk in this morning.  My sewing machine needs some tender care.

Janet

Thanks, Carol.  But John doesn't have a bug, this is a recurring problem he's had for at least five years that I know of.  And still he refuses to see a doctor!   :clobber: :ticked:

Hi everyone.  We expect to get up into the mid-70's today, which will be nice.  I have a busy schedule on tap as have someone meeting me here at 10 this morning for an hour and then we plan on attending the monthly Senior Luncheon at the Church.  I will come home and rest for a little while and then have an appointment at 3 pm to meet a friend at Panairo's.  Then this evening is our annual Homeowner's Association Meeting.  It is held at our fire station, which is about a half mile from where I live.

Yesterday Pat got on a cooking bent and we now have 3 1/2 quarts of chili for future meals and three more meals of the beef vegetable stew that we enjoyed for our dinner last night.  I had to help her quite a bit in getting things out for the recipes and washing up all of the dishes and pans involved.  Today I think she plans on making apple butter today although that could wait until tomorrow.

Ruth Ann, glad you checked in yesterday and that you are joining me in counting steps.  I got about 1700 in again yesterday and hope for about the same number again today.

Janet, that is a pretty good incline on the treadmill and a pretty fast pace.  When I attended cardiac rehab quite a few years ago we had treadmills and leg machine and I would use them but for short periods.  I would also walk a mile around the gym where the rehab was held.  It seems I can always find something to fill my hours each day.  They now have medications that will heal up ulcers and sure too bad that John won't take care of himself and seek the treatment he needs.

Carol, yesterday must have been national vegetable and related soup days.  The stew Pat made was more like a soup than a stew as it has a lot of juice.  It tasted different than any stew she has made before because she used several different spices.  I got out the big crockpot for Pat to use to make the apple butter.  Yesterday she just fixed the chili on the stove rather than the Instant Pot.  Years ago we had our kitchen remodeled and put in a Kitchen Aid cabinet type range that had a deep well and also grill unit that could be put in and taken out.  It was really a mess to clean and I sure would never want another stove like it.

Jackie, I hope you will be able to use your crockpot for some meals as it sure beats standing at a stove and stirring things.  Do you like chili and stews and soups?

Marilyn

Keith is now in surgery and will be there for a few hours, praying that all goes as planned and the robotic surgery will be successful.

Marilyn, sending good thoughts and prayers upward for  Keith, and hugs to you.  Sitting around a hospital is one of the most stressful and tiring jobs one can have.

I also need to use my crockpot and Instant Pot more.  The instant pot has very confusing controls, that's why I have only used it two or three times. We do enjoy soups and stews, though.

I'm so aggravated at the publishing company I'm trying to work with this time!  Seems it's something every day!  Yesterday my project manager emailed me that they needed my photo for the back cover, along with the text for the back of the book.  I had already sent her both those things twice!!  Now she has them three times!  and today I got the proof of back cover, and it isn't right.  Grrrr!!  Lord, please grant me patience!

I must get away from this computer and do something else!!

See you wonderful folks later!

ORANGE????  I guess I hit the wrong key!  Sorry!

Marilyn:  Best wishes to a quick recovery from the surgery.  Good wishes for your energy level when he gets out of the hospital!  I hope all goes well.

There is a bit of time this afternoon for laundry and sewing bindings on hot pads.  It is the beginning of thunder and my dental appointment is in two hours.  When it rains in the desert, we have to be careful not to drive into a flooded area - there are warnings galore.

I like to make soups and stews and it gets to be too much so two of my neighbors were happy to have mason jars filled with leftover.  Don can take only so much with my leftovers - I cook for a big family and it is so hard to cook just a little.

Janet:  I didn't know you were a Bronco's fan?    ^-^  Sorry about your stressful issues with the publisher.

One of the children had a procedure today and just called  - all is well.  How comforting it is to hear those words.  It was not a serious surgery but anything in surgery is cautious in my mind.

Hello there, Don!!  Please don't be a stranger, come back and visit with us.

Carol, I like the Broncos okay.  The Chiefs are having a good season for a change, which makes my hubby happy.  Happy Spouse, Happy House!  :D

John said he was eating again yesterday, so maybe he will go along again the same, until the next bout.  :-\

Darrel finally got a smart phone, so he is on a learning curve.  Daughter asked, "Why did he get a smart phone?  He never uses his phone!"  I told her he decided he wanted one because everyone in the family had fancier phones than his.   ;)

I sent two emails to the gal at the publishing company.  If I don't hear again tomorrow I will call her.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be a beautiful day and hopefully pretty quiet one.  The high is suppose to be around 72 degrees with sun all day.  The only thing on my schedule as of now for today is to fix Pat's breakfast and then this evening we will go to the Church for the Wednesday night dinner.  This is Taco Bar and Ice Cream Bar night for our dinner and who could want more.  Scott starts his week's vacation today and will be off for 8 days.  He has really been looking forward to it.  He will join us for dinner and then expect he will come out to the house for awhile.  The activities of the last few days finally caught up with me and I was very tired last night when I got home from the Homeowner's Association Meeting.  It was pretty well attended and most of the discussion dealt with the landscaping as the landscaper was at the meeting.  The good news was that there will be no increase in our fees for 2019.  They haven't increased all the time we have lived here.  The meeting I had planned yesterday for 3 pm at Paneria Bread Company was cancelled and that gave me more time to rest yesterday afternoon when we came back from our Senior Luncheon.

The man who is going to pressure wash my house and do a few minor repairs and maintenance projects just stopped by and we agreed on a price.  He has done work for us before.

Marilyn, looking forward to the good report on Keith's surgery.  I am sure that was a long waiting time for you while he was in surgery.

Jackie, I understand why you wouldn't want to eat spicy.  I have a small Hiatus Hernia but it hasn't bothered me for many years but is partly why I sleep with my head up to prevent the reflux.  Years ago my doctor told me that almost everyone will have at least a small Hernia like that and may not even know it.

Janet, I agree with you about how unpleasant it is to sit in a hospital waiting.  At least the patient gets to lay down and is put asleep.  For some reason they never seem to have very comfortable chairs or couches for visitors.  Perhaps that is to encourage us to go home.  I am sure you will come to like the Instant Pot after you have used it a few times.  Sorry to see you continue to be unsatisfied with the publishing company.  Are there many companies that a person can use for self-publishing? Glad to read that John is eating again.  I hope Darrel likes his smart phone.  They really aren't to difficult to use as one gets used to using them.  What brand did he get and is it a large one.

Carol, it sure wouldn't be worth taking any chances to drive into standing water.  I understand the flooding can occur very quickly and I remember how the roads were just laid on the contours of the ground.  Fortunately I don't get tired of leftovers and glad we have them as it is much easier for Pat.  We ate our main meal out yesterday, will this evening and again tomorrow as we take Scott out to celebrate his birthday.  Glad you child had good results with the procedure.

Don, glad you stopped by as it is nice to see you post again. I agree with you that God is good.

Rebot, stews and soups make fairly easy meal and are very filling.  We haven't had Chinese very often since we moved as sort of burned out on it before we moved as often went to a Chinese Restaurant.

Marilyn

Update on Keith
He did well in surgery, it took 4 hours. The Dr. went in through the top of the bladder on down to the prostate, which was very enlarged. He removed a lot of the tissue from the inside of the prostate and sent that off to the pathology lab for testing. Keith got up to his room by 12:30 and was pretty out of it trying to get out of bed. I left at 1:30 to come home and do a few things, feed the animals etc. Went back at 3pm. He was doing much better. He carried on animated conversations with all the staff and was feeling pretty good when I left after sharing my dinner with him, He said he wasn't hungry when I ordered mine but was by the time it came, So I gave him most of mine. He is receiving saline directly to the bladder to flush it. He was still all hooked up to telemetry when I left. His cell is here at home and he doesn't want to answer the room phone. He may get to come home today IF he can pass gas.

This has. been a rough day. Slept in, then car trouble and 1/2 hour late for a doctors appointment.

I have a condition the opposite to diabetes. Low blood sugar.  Diagnosed a year and a half ago.... I went to the Dr. to see if there was a drug that I can take that will level out the lows. There is nothing..... I go back in Jan. however what is the use. nothing will change the fact that I have to just live with it.  ya know it is such a pain to always be thinking about food.....I eat most days every 2 hours.....skip a "meal" and I am in trouble.

I don't shop alone, walk alone, do anything alone.....

Doug, our son, said to be thankful for this.....I asked why???? Really confused.  His response had me in tears.... Because Mom you get to spend time with the people you love.

I remember the verse In everything give thanks for this is the will of God concerning you......

John started whistling We Bring The Sacrifice of Praise..

I am so thankful for these two men in my life.

Hi, friends,

It's so comforting to come here and see such excellent messages.

I can't respond personally to everyone tonight, but I read and as appropriate, I pray for you.

Each day I see less clutter from the move back into my apartment. I'm addressing it and deciding where the contents of the current box are to be put.

May our Lord bless each person who comes this way.

Much love,

Hi Everyone.  It is a cool morning here in South Carolina and is suppose to be cloudy all day with a high of 64.  Since this is Thursday I will be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility and we will go downtown for coffee.  Either before or after coffee I have to pick up a couple of prescriptions for Pat at the Walmart Pharmacy.  Today is our son's 55th birthday and he didn't want to go to a nice restaurant as we have done in the past but elected to go to Diablo's.  He has started his week's vacation and he may join me at coffee this morning as I told him I would buy his breakfast.

We did enjoy the Taco Bar and Ice Cream Bar at our dinner last night.  We had all the trimmings one would want with both.  Yesterday I sent off our absentee ballots so that is done for this election cycle.

Marilyn, glad that surgery is over for Keith and that he did well in the surgery.  I hope he will be able to come home today.

JudyB, so sorry that you have this medical condition for which there is no treatment.  At least you know what you are dealing with.  Having to eat every two hours would sure be a challenge.  Doug is obviously a very caring son and I know John is there for you.

Ruth Ann, doing a little bit each day you will soon be settled back into your apartment.

Rebot

Greetings JudyB   My hubby knows what it is like, with  low blood sugar episodes. I know them as hypoglycaemic attacks, or in shortened form, hypo's.

His blood sugar readings can go down from an average of 5.5-7.0, to 3,1 and under.  Recently he had a short synacthen test, this assesses how much of a steroid hormone called cortisol your body is producing.  I will post in about two weeks on the outcome of the test.

Carol

Judy - What a beautiful tribute from your son.  -- Sorry about your problem with low blood pressure.  I hope you can get everything level.  Would having sugar pills or candy nearby help?  Thanks ever so much for the YouTube music.  Peppy and meaningful!  I play "Bless the Lord, oh my soul" 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman and that reminds me of the mega church I attend with my friends.  It is another joyful song - we need more joy in our lives and these songs are a good reminder.

Larry:  Good news that your homeowners fees are not rising.

Don:  Very nice post to read from you.

Ruth Ann:  It takes a lot of energy to put everything back in place and have important things handy.

Today, Don is still sleeping.  He felt light headed early and must be exhausted - I am checking him.  I had a goofy mishap earlier  - sitting in the chair, having a coffee cup and I tried to place it on the pad - I coughed/sneezed and dropped the cup right on yarn and puzzle book (which is always by my chair).  I rinsed the skein of yarn and it is sitting in the sunshine - trashed the puzzle book and cleaned all around.  So, does that mean my housework for the day is over?  Probably not  ;D

Rebot

Greetings Carol  I think Judy was talking about low blood sugar readings.

Janet

Hello, Gang!
We went to Liberal today to get hearing aid batteries, wash the car, and take son-in-law Jeff to lunch.  Stopped in Hugoton to visit a little with daughter Diane.  She's dealing with a lot of pain in her knee; had a cortizone shot in it last week, but today it was hurting in a different spot.  She asked if we have a cane she can use; we do; we also have a good walker (the kind some call a rollator, I think.)  We will make sure to get those to her soon.  I sure hate to see her having pain, even though I know she's not a complainer.  Just want her to NOT hurt!

I'm really concerned about the mob headed toward our southern border with intent of invading our country!  They must be stopped!!

We've had another quarter inch of rain over the past 3 days or so, and it's been pretty chilly.  We are having our high for today right now, at 64* and it feels pretty nice out there!

No news, really, just wanted to come in and see you all!

Hi, friends,

My goodness! Cold rainy weather usually signals winter for us here in Nashville.  Brrr, I'm not ready this year. The temps, while not cold, are in the 50s, and the rains are here.

It is so good to see everyone today.

May our Lord bless us this evening.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Keith is still in the hospital. He has had a terrible time with constipation. They have given him  some different kinds of meds to help him go but nothing has happened. I am praying for fully functioning results so he can come home today.

Hi Everyone.  It is a damp and chilly morning here with a few showers predicted throughout the day.  I just got back from meeting a friend at a restaurant for breakfast.  It was most enjoyable but I didn't care for the dish I ordered so only ate a bit of it and when I got home I had my usual breakfast.  I plan on a very quiet rest of the day.  Scott plans on coming out late this afternoon and is going to fix our dinner for this evening and spend the evening with us.  We did celebrate his birthday yesterday afternoon late with a meal at Diablo's and then he came out and spent the evening with us.

Carol, I agree that we do need joy in our lives and I know I always feel better when I can laugh a bit.  A smile given and often returned is a joyful gift to me.  Those sneezes are powerful and usually unexpected.  However, it sounds like there was no real harm down just a little aggravation.  I hope your yarn wasn't harmed as know that is not inexpensive anymore.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you are experiencing about the same weather we have here this morning.  This evening is the beginning of the Halloween Festival in our downtown area so it is going to be pretty chilly for the activities including a concert by someone I have never heard of before (which isn't unusual as I don't keep up with the music of today).

Marilyn, I hope this will be the day Keith is able to come home.  I am sure those are long hours for him in the hospital and he will be much more comfortable at home.

Janet, it is always nice to be able to have a meal with a child.  Sorry that Diane is suffering from bad knee pain. Since Pat had one knee and one hip replaced she no longer seems to suffer with the knee pains that she put up with for so long.  Is Diane a candidate for a knee replacement?

Rebot, I hope it is a bit warmer where you are than what we have today.  I sort of got chilled when I went out for breakfast and Pat had set the thermostat down a couple of degrees when she came to bed.  I just now put it back to where we normally keep it and the furnace come on so hope to warm up soon.

Carol

Good day all,

Rebot:  I should have typed blood sugar regarding Judy - thanks.

This morning, the first item on "The List" is to go to the store and tell them I paid for several things that were not in the bags from shopping yesterday.  Partly my fault because.... I am always chatting with everyone.

The weekly email came yesterday - the one from my bible study group at home.  One of my good friends lost her husband (our good friend too) last year and she is starting a bible study in her home - once a week and the gals will change homes too.  So proud of her - she has limitations from a hard fall on ice last year with her right hand.  Still always so strong in faith and upbeat.

Janet:  You mention the border crisis - I have to tell you there are leaks all the time.  There is a road we turned  into one year and read a huge bill board.  It said to turn around - dangerous area - do not proceed further.  This is right in the USA.  We turned immediately.

Ruth Ann:  It sounds like sweater weather to me.  Keep warm!

Janet

Carol, I know there are hundreds of illegals sneaking into our country every day!  We need that wall!  Other countries do not allow this, neither should we!  (imo, of course.)  ;)

Larry, I'm sure by now you are all cozy and warm again.  I also dislike being cold.  It's almost time for me to go for my hair appointment.  It will likely be a mess by Tuesday when we leave, then I'm on my own with it until I get home! But I'm sure I will manage.  :)

Larry, I'm pretty sure that a knee replacement is in Diane's future.  But she's young enough that they want to try some other options before going that route.  We might drive down this afternoon to take her the cane, the walker, and also some special insoles I ordered for her that are supposed to help greatly with knee and hip pain.  We don't like to see any of our loved ones (or others!) in pain.

Marilyn, I hope things "turn loose" for Keith so he can come home.  Is he more confused in the hospital than at home?  I know being in unfamiliar places makes it worse sometimes for people with that condition.  Prayers for you, for strength and patience to cope with whatever comes.

Time to go get beautiful!   ;)

Talking of pain...I just want to wake up one morning and find my PP-MS has gone, and not to endure another day of it...but that will never happen...When we are given an illness that " nothing can be done for it, and told it is to get worse " we have no choice but to live with it daily and we do get used to our " new body " but we will never ever welcome our " new  body "...I now have a body that controls me, not the other way round...Anyway, got that off my chest...I am only one of thousands with this degenerative disease...yet only one in 10% or 15% percent with the Primary Progressive type...The only thing I can say is that nobody will ever get through life unscathed, we get what we get...some medical issues can be resolved, some cant...
Anyway, God has my future mapped out...

Just want to add...in my world it is " survival of the fittest " and what I mean by that is when one has endured all three during their lifetime ( and ones life is not over yet ) of physical, sexual and verbal abuse as I have, one can survive almost anything...It makes one tougher and more determined...I am sure our Marilyn can related to this too...I have read your profile...We remain here for a reason...that reason is yet to be known..

Hi Everyone. After a really rainy and chilly day yesterday today is suppose to be clear and up into the 60's.  Our little town's Halloween Jubilee started yesterday afternoon and evening and was suppose to have a concert but due to the damp weather it had to be cancelled. They were expecting up to 25,000 people to attend but sure that number will be greatly reduced.  Tonight there is another concert with Diamond Rio and Mark Chestnut so expect there will be a large crowd downtown for it.

Scott did come out late yesterday afternoon and Pat had decided on a change of menu.  He fixed biscuits and sausage gravy for both of them and I don't really care for that so I had some frozen waffles and I had that for my dinner. This morning I will attend my meeting and then stop at Aldi's for some eggs.  This afternoon I will be watching college football.  This is the big annual weekend where the teams from Georgia and Florida Universities play their game in Jacksonville, Florida.

Carol, I have had that happen when I walked off without all of my groceries.  I hope you got your items replaced.  Home Bible study groups are nice and know you will miss not being there to participate.

Janet, I heard something yesterday about Mexico providing a way for at least some of the illegals to register and be able to stay in Mexico.  Scott's wife also needed knee replacements but the doctor's didn't want to do it due to her age.  As a result she suffered terribly with them and at one time basically was confined pretty much to a wheelchair.

Rebot, thanks for the greetings and I share the same thoughts with you today.

Jackie, I am sure your days are long with the pain and other problems you have with the MS.  We just have to make the best of each day that we can and know that when this journey is over we will be freed from the medical conditions and pain that many of us have. I read the article you linked and so sorry as that seems to take away the hope that some could have of slowing the progression of the terrible disease. You must be a pretty strong person to have survived what you describe.  I seldom watch a movie.

Marilyn

Another update on Keith. He is coming home from the hospital tomorrow (Sunday). Dr. has told me that he has a strong heart and the medical staff at the hospital as well as the Dr's are amazed at his amazing lung capacity. His memory loss has not increased. He has lost some weight in the hospital, it has been hard for him to eat there being in pain and nausea from the medication. They changed the antibiotic, nausea is gone but he had terrible hiccups for along while yesterday. His appetite returned in the after noon and he is eating well now.

Jackie Yes I am a  survivor of all those things and more. I am not that person anymore and Jesus died for me. I am so thankful everyday that He saved me for the pits of hell. Without Him I would not be here today. I love my Heavenly and my Brother Jesus.  Rest assured Jackie it is all part of God's  plan that we remain.

I have a happy report today!!  Yesterday, I got the text of my book to approve; so I spent quite a long time going over it carefully.  I only found two things that needed to be corrected, which were that they had used one picture twice, so I asked them to remove one, and where the word bit was used, it appeared as pit instead.  I should get the galley proof of the corrections on Monday morning for my approval, then they can print the book!   :cheer: :cheer: :laff: :thumbsup2:   :pine: Oh, yes!  That makes me happy!  I've been working so hard on it for about nine months now; and they say I should have the book in my hands in two or three weeks time!!

I just wanted to pop in and let you know.

We took the mobility aids to Diane today, along with the special insoles I ordered for her.  I surely hope they help her.

See all of you later!

Hi Everyone. We have an unclouded sky this morning and no wind.  It is suppose to be sunny all day and get up to 72 degrees this afternoon.  It sounds like a perfect day.  It will start out with Sunday School for me and perhaps Church for both Pat and I.  As usual we will get something for our main meal before coming home to a restful afternoon.  We expect Scott to come out this afternoon.  He is going to put up new curtain rods and black out curtains in our bedroom.  I will watch some pro football this afternoon.  Yesterday was a winning day for the South Carolina and Georgia Universities as Georgia beat Florida and South Carolina beat Tennessee and Clemson beat Florida State.

Marilyn, I know you will be happy to have Keith at home although your work will begin in earnest in taking care of him.  With a good heart and good lungs it sounds like he should be around for a long while.

Good morning Rebot.  I hope this will be or has been a pleasant Sunday for you.

Janet, I am glad for you to be at this final stage of your book preparation.  Let me know what you will be charging for your book and I will send you a check.  Be sure to include the postage cost.

Jackie, this isn't Janet's first book as several years ago she wrote a beautiful book about Beth's journal (and hers as it related to Beth) up to that point. I think she also wrote a children's book shortly after that.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Well Thank you kind sir!

Janet

Good afternoon!  Following a really rough night, (for me) we did go to church this morning.  I'm so glad we did.  Being in the presence of God, in the company of other believers is good medicine.  I am still sleepy, but can take a nap this afternoon, so all is well on that front. And after church, we went out to eat with the pastor (his wife is out of town) and several friends, which was so enjoyable.  Darrel missed the first half of the Chiefs-Broncos game, but is watching it now.  Chiefs are leading at this point!

Larry, the book has more pages than my estimate, 299.  I had thought closer to 200.  They set the price of the book according to the trim size and the number of pages, so I did ask that question Friday, and was told the price will be $17.99.  I was hoping it would be less, but I don't control the pricing.  And postage should be around $2.50 for media rate.  (Here I am just "guess-timating" as I won't know for sure until I mail the first one.
So if you want to wait, that will be fine, too!  (Yippee!! My first sale!)   :)

Seriously, I so appreciate you interest!  Thank you!

I got more things packed, took out some I don't really think I need, and still have more decisions to make.  Tomorrow I have to finalize all that!

I need to go switch the laundry to the dryer and start another load.  Trying to not have any extra to wash when I get home, there's always plenty from our luggage!

See you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone. It is suppose to be sunny here all day and this afternoon will get up to around 71 degrees.  I have a quiet day planned.  I am meeting with a friend here at the house early this morning.  Scott will be over later this morning to put up the curtains and spend some time with us.  Yesterday our Church Service was Children's Sunday from Kindergarten up thru 5th grade.  They did the readings, sang songs and basically conducted the service except our minister gave the sermon.  It was a delightful morning and the children were very impressive.  After Church we went to the Sunshine Grill and split a Club sandwich with a side of potato salad.  The sandwiches are so large that there is too much for one person to eat at one time.  We came home and rested for a couple of hours and then I watched some of the football games.  Scott had planned to come over but called about 5:30 to say he wasn't going to make it so we had an uneventful evening.

Rebot, thanks for the greeting.

Janet, sometimes we feel much better after attending the Church service even when we have had to push ourselves to get there.  I am sure Darrel was happy that the Chiefs were able to win their game.  I am happy that I will be your first customer for your book.  As soon as you know what the postage will be let me know and I will send you a check.  I have your address as you know.

Jackie, I didn't intend to imply you should have known.  I will let Janet tell you more about her book.

Janet

Happy Monday to you all!  I'm watching my computer for those final approval forms, as I want to be sure everything is a "go" before we leave in the morning!  I think I'm all packed except for my cosmetics and my meds.  I take very few, but also take vitamins, though not many now since we are drinking Zeal.  Taking that along for sure!

Larry, that sounds like a very enjoyable service.  Kids are such fun, even when they make mistakes.  :)  We often split things when eating out, too, and lately we are skipping supper altogether, or dinner, for you more city types.  ;)  We find we just aren't hungry in the evening a lot of days.

Jackie, this book doesn't really deal with Beth's struggles with MS, as by the time they told us she had it, there was nothing they could do to help her; the damage had been done.  :'(  It's mostly about her strong faith and sweet attitude while facing insurmountable odds in dealing with not one, but two debilitating diseases.  I pray it will be encouraging to all who read it. Thank you for your interest.  :)

I'm going to get a chiropractic adjustment and get my glasses adjusted today.  Also want to order flowers for a friend whose mother just passed away.  Trying to tie up loose ends before I leave!

God bless each of us today is my prayer!

Hi, friends,

I'm thankful to hear from all of you this evening. Although I had dinner, I had a blood sugar low, so will make this short tonight since it makes me feel bad when this happens. I've dealt with this for many years, so don't worry about me.

Y'all have a good evening.

Lots of love,

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will have another beautiful, sunny and mild day with it getting only into the mid-70's.  The maintenance man is to be here this morning to pressure wash the house and start on some minor outside maintenance that will get us ready for winter.  A friend will be here to work with me at 10 am for an hour and that is going to be plenty for today.  I have already fixed my medicine boxes for the next two week and cleared everything off the front porch.  I awoke around 3:30 this morning and just couldn't go back to sleep so got up pretty early.  Yesterday Scott came by to put up the blackout drapes in our master bedroom only to find out that the drapes were not long enough.  Fortunately Pat got them at Costco so they will be an easy return and she has already ordered the longer drapes so once they arrive the project will be able to be completed as she already got the rods.  Pat is giving me a break and is fixing her own breakfast this morning.

Janet, I realize you may not see this before your return but in case you do I just want to wish you a great trip and that you see many interesting things and have a safe return.

Rebot, another wish sent your way that you have a pleasant weather day and an overall great day.

Ruth Ann, I know that blood sugar low can be a pretty scary thing as my former neighbor had it several times when his wife had to call the EMT's.  One time he had it when he was driving and fortunately she was able to get the car to the side of the road.  I don't think she has let him take the car by himself since and probably wisely so.  I know you know what you do when you recognize what is happening.  I hope all is well for you today.

Jackie, I agree we all are concerned about our friends here and it is helpful to know that others care about us and pray for us.  Only ourselves know how we feel. I hope this is a good day for you and the sun is shining or has been shining over your way.

Rebot

Greetings Ruth   What I do when my hubby has low blood sugar episodes, is give him a sugary drink, in addition to two or three glucose tablets.

Janet

Just a really quick hello and goodbye--or, rather, farewell for a while this morning.  I'm so angry at our cat!  She knows we are leaving by the different activities and seeing the suitcases--and she sneaked into the bedroom and peed in the middle of the bed!   :ticked:  Darn cat!
I'd get rid of her if I didn't love her so much.   :-\

Anyway, that means three loads of laundry to get done in limited time, so we don't have that horrid smell when we get home.  Bad enough that we will have to remake the bed when we get home around midnight.  Ok, enough, already!

I will be thinking of all of you and always pray for safety over you and your loved ones.  Thanks for the good wishes on our trip, Larry.

I have to call my publisher one more time, NOW.

Love in Jesus,

Good Morning everyone. I am so tired this morning. I didn't sleep last night due to Keith being up and down and my foot and legs hurting so bad they kept me from sleeping. Keith will be going to ER today  and I hope back into the hospital so I can get some rest. He managed to get his catheter bag caught on the chair during one of the times he got up and it pulled out his catheter too. the medication makes his urine very dark brownish/orange and it i all over the carpet and bed even on him, What a mess to  try to clean up at 4:30 am. I am going to go to my Tai Chi class today, I need that as a stress reliever. Then I will see about getting him back to the hospital.

Janet:  I should have checked in this morning when I was wide awake and reading at 3 AM.  Safe trip and have a great time.

Ruth Ann:  Don has low blood sugar happen sometimes in the morning - he takes the pills right away.  I know what to do but so far he can take care of it himself.

Hi Everyone.   It is another beautiful day here in South Carolina.  We are suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  The maintenance man did a very good job of pressure washing and even washed out sidewalk.  The columns that were painted look very nice.  There are three little jobs he has left to do.  He put a new threshold strip on the bottom of our front door and now we can hardly get it opened or closed.  He fixed the gate hinge but it needs some more adjustment and he is fixing the top of the two end columns on our front porch so the birds cannot build nest there.  At noon time today we are taking Scott with us to eat at the Honey from the Rock Buffet over in Augusta.  This is his last day of vacation and is also his wedding anniversary, which is always a hard day for him.  I did get a very good nights sleep and plan on just taking it easy today as yesterday did a couple of things that brought on severe angina attacks.  Fortunately they didn't last long but they always leave me feeling extra tired, which may be from taking the nitro tablets.

Rebot, Pat also suffers from hypoglycemia but hasn't had to do anything special other than eat something with protein rather than carbohydrates.  Your background in the medical area comes in handy.

I guess Janet and Darrel are well on their way on their trip.  They sure didn't get a good sendoff from the ornery cat.

Marilyn, I am so sorry that things are already so difficult for you in taking care of Keith.  I hope you were able to get in some rest yesterday as you must take care of yourself.  I hope your own pain has lessened today.

Marilyn

Update on Keith. He is now in ICU on a ventilator for the first 48 hours, After that we will see how he is doing. He said he doesn't want to be on life support, but it isn't necessary at this point as far as we know., The Riley boys and I will talk later if any decisions need to be made.Keep on praying, It is a scary time for all of us especially me,
He had surgery to repair a fecl leak into the hernia sack.

Greetings Larry   In most cases with 'hypos' the blood sugar level will rise once you eat something sugary, or a glucose based drink.  We or should I say. I prefer glucose tablets.  With hubby the blood sugar numbers can go down very low quickly and a simple drink or glucose tablet does not always  have the required effect.

Being from a medical background is an advantage, you would think!!

Hi, friends,

I've been working on financial documents for review by the apartment management team. I must report tomorrow.

I keep sugary drinks, glucose tablets in my apartment and in my purse, and protein and carbohydrates for a snack after those blood sugar lows. If I go out during winter time, snacks and emergency rations are kept handy. One of my diabetes meds has been changed, so I'm experiencing some lows during this adjustment period.

May God be with each of us.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone. We are predicted to have a partly cloudy day with a high of 81 degrees.  This is going to be a long day as I woke up around 2:30 and was never able to go back to sleep.  About 5:30 I decided to get up and get my day started.  I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee downtown this morning.  Then, as far as I know, we will go for our main meal around 1 pm at the Honey From the Rock Restaurant since we didn't go yesterday due to a change in plans.  Pat and I went to Chick-fil-A for a late meal around 4 pm yesterday.

Marilyn, I hope there is some improvement in Keith's condition today and that you have been able to get some needed rest.  I have been praying for both of you.

Rebot, Pat has never had to take glucose tablets and seems to be OK except when she hasn't eaten for sometime.

Ruth Ann, I am sure your financial review will go well for you today.  Is this review what determines your monthly rent for the next year?  I hope you soon adjust to your new medication and that the blood sugar lows don't become more of a problem for you.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  What period of time without a meal are you talking about in Pat's case?

Hubby if he goes more than three hours, normally sees him having  a hypo.

Larry, when the new management bought these apartment towers, they brought new regulations. I never had to submit information to the previous owners. This is for Tax Credit Certification. I could get all but one item within the short deadline time. That will be requested tomorrow.

I'm so grateful that I don't have the blood sugar lows very often.

May God bless us all today.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone.   I am seeing a different interface for this discussion this morning and had to resign in.  There must have been a software update overnight.  Even the font is different.  Is anyone else seeing the difference. I see there is a tab now for Spell Check and there is a bar at the top of the posting space with the settings shown, which will be very helpful.  I like this new setup.

We had a cloudy day and then a rainy evening.  This morning is still overcast but 65 degrees.  I see we have a 100% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon so a good day to stay home, which I plan to do.  I did have a very good night's sleep last night but am not feeling up to par this morning as short of breath the feeling exhausted. This is the morning for our housekeeper who will be here in a little while.  Our plans to eat at Honey From the Rock did not happen and we had leftovers for our dinner last evening. I did go downtown to coffee yesterday.

Ruth Ann, I hadn't realized your building had new owners.  I hope you have no problem getting the document you need today so the task with management can be put behind you.  Is this something you will have to do every year?

Rebot, Pat eats sort of at regular hours, although often on a different time schedule than me except for our evening meal or when we go out to eat.  She just gets shaky when she needs to eat.

Yes there was a software update overnight. Still working out a few issues with attachments and if you uploaded an avatar you may have to upload it again.

The gallery will be returning soon as well - I have to install the new system and work on importing everyone's photos.

I've sinned greatly, but Christ's for real, baby, it's a wonder He saved me and just didn't hate me, so won't you tell Him 'Save me!' and please stand up?... - J. Jackson (http://www.apologetix.com for more info).

They removed Keith's breathing tube yesterday. His vitals are looking good. They cleaned and repacked his wound but he will  still need 24 hr nursing care until his wound is healed, There is no way I can take care of him at home until he is healed. He is still in restraints just in case he  tries to thrash around, However he is sedated all the time so not much chance of that happening. One of his attendants came in and gave him a very nice shave and used a shampoo cap to wash his hair a bit. (it was getting very smelly) He could understand me when I told him to squeeze my hand and grunted   to answer a couple of questions. I just stand there and tell him everything that is going on at home and other things. I know he can hear me even though he is asleep or unconscious. or if he was in  a coma. the hearing is the last to go in any case.

OK I am having problems getting into the admin area to start a new page.... We will have to wait a day or 2 to get the November page started.

We have different numbers for glucose readings than the USA. Normal is 5.5 to 5.9.  For the last 2 years the readings are now a high of 6.5 then rocket down into the 4's, and and even quicker into the low 3's.  Once there I quickly become disoriented, and that is troubling especially when I am alone. As a result when I go out there is someone with me.  I have come to terms with that.  It took a bit, however God is good all the time.
Now back to try and get the new month up and running!!
