Beautiful Don.  I love irises.  There are so many varied colours.  This one is beautiful!

Pat

Love this.  Can we all post Irises in this topic, Don?  Would you mind?  I have a few.

Kevin has some interesting ones too.  It would be so lovely to see them all together.

Don

Yes it would be nice if we could get them all in on place. I have more and will try to find them to post.

If anyone has iris photos post them in this thread for all to see.

I wish I had some iris photos!  I have just a few irises of varied colors but never seem to get a picture.  :(

Simple shot, yes.   But the beautiful bokeh of the background accentuates the sharpness and contrast of the iris.  Nice work.

WOW  they are beautiful.

Our Mom and Dad had an Iris that was a peach colour.  Have you ever seen one like that?

Al Moak

I would say "fantastic," but no fantasy could equal these!  That first one is overwhelming.  Oh praise our God, the Lord of artistry.

Janet

Don, those are just gorgeous!  Darrel's parents had so many beautiful kinds of iris; also my first mother-in-law.  She had some I have never seen anywhere else.  She had some of those 'black' ones. They  are outstanding, they are such a dark purple it appears to be black.  And the ones which have one color petals that fall and another color that stand up are also nice.

Thanks for letting us see your photos.

I have a photo of irises that were growing in our apartment parking lot. Will try to get it posted before too long goes by.

Thanks Sarge! Sorry I missed this post until now. We have wild iris growing here on the streams. This looks a lot like the wild ones we have growing here.  Great photo! Thanks for posting.

Here are a couple more after having a drink.

Okay, I'll post some...Irises, and flowers in general, are just amazing aren't they?  I just love the colors and patterns in that one, especially, Don!  I just posted another in the current challenge.  Was trying to decide between the one I entered and the top one here...

The two purple Irises are ones that I had bought my mother for Mother's Day last year, from Pro Flowers.  They were just so beautiful!  She gave me one of each of three color shades so I could photograph them.  I shot them in my dining room with all natural light and a white poster board to fill in any unwanted shadows and a black poster board to isolate the subject from the background.   I also used a polarizer and tripod.

I gave her the one above on metallic paper and matted and framed for her birthday.  She just loves purple!

These two black and white images were taken in downtown Boise at the park by a pond.
They were originally yellow.  The pond was in shadow I used a polarizer, and that's how I got the black background for these two.  Oh, and a little vignetting on the last one.

I know this is a old thread but a customer of mine gave me a start off a Neomarica or a walking iris so thought I would post it here. It's not blooming yet but will soon. The Neomarica is commonly called Walking Iris because the flowering stalks take root after bending over and making contact with the ground. I'll watch it and try to post pictures again when it blooms.

Wow, this will be interesting to see, Don.  I wonder if they grow up here in Ontario.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Don

They are Tropical and Semi tropical but are grown as house plants in temperate areas. The other common name "Apostle Plant" comes from the belief that the plant will not flower until the individual has at least 12 leaves, the number of apostles of Jesus.

Here is more about it.

I'll start you one and you can find out if you want one. I think it would ship just fine. Nope don't want any money, would love to give you one. :)

Can't hardly  :woohoo:  wait to see what color it is and what it is going to look like.

It's growing in my greenhouse in a 10" pot. Here it is. I got this one summer before last,it was just a sprig. They grow pretty fast.

"DSC01707-640"

I have not tried one outside here yet. I have one growing in a 5" pot that I started at the beginning of last summer that I will probably try in the ground to see what happens. Here is the one in the 5" pot. I started it at the beginning of last summer and it was just a sprig also.

This one is inside my greenhouse Judy,I don't know if it will grow in my climate or not. I can control the climate in the house.

It has already bloomed Judy. Look back at the first page in this thread. You must have missed it. :)
