Untill I lived in Northern Ireland, I had never heard of "First Footing" (what Judy is calling "First Stepping")

The first person who comes to visit you in the new year brings a piece of coal all wrapped up and it means that you'll have a lovely heated home during the coming year!  It was fun to be "First Footed" just at midnight or shortly after on New Year's Eve.

(Judy, there are many wonderful Christians who don't celebrate Christmas.  K4J is one of them.  Jack's family never celebrated Christmas over in Ireland either.)

Either.  However, usually pie is #1 & Cake #2.
