wonder adn wander sound the same to me.  Let's chalk it up to regional differences -- kinda like the following.

If you live in the Southern Appalachians, the following two words will sound identical when coming out of the mouth of your three year old

Pair -- Pair of shoes

Power -- The electricity in your house

I know what you mean.

When my son in law from N.C. says rally --he means really.

I think that's what he's saying!!!

When I lived in Texas, a girl from Memphis , Tenn. said that
I had a real thick Brooklyn accent as her words just oozed of
the south.

Funny when I do go South, I start developing a southern accent
