JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

I've just been wondering what you carry with you when you go out to take photographs?

Well Pat since you asked. i just put my camera in my purse andleave it there incase I run into a photo op. I also have extra batteries. I am planning to get a bigger camer bag, the one I have now only holds the camera. I want one that I can put  my little tripod in and I am going to buy  a big tripon that goes to 52 inches, however it folds down to 20 inches and has it's own case. But i do want to just put my wallet and cell phone in the camera bag and only carry that. TMI.

I have been carrying my camera in my purse, with extra batteries.  Also plan to buy a bag to carry things....lately, have only been taking pictures in the garden.  Have to expand my horizon's, eh???

Hmm, let's see . . .

my camera
my telephoto lens
a cord for something (USB, maybe? maybe a charger)
batteries for something other than my camera (I dunno how they got there)
Circular Polarizer
Neutral Density filter
Lens wipes thingys
Business cards
Extra memory stick(s)
Extra battery (If Nards isn't using it)
A couple of dollars

And on occasion, a sippy cup, diaper, and diaper wipes. :-)

uiba

Hmmm ...
- a couple pins that I like
- a couple toonies and loonies for emergencies
- extra batteries
- telephoto lens
- lens cleaning fluid, a soft cloth, and a blow-brush thingy
- polarizer filter
- little plastic bottle with aspirins, a bit of duck tape (sp?), two or so bandaids (when my little girl falls down bandaids do miracles)
- a pen (no paper though - weird)
- extra CF card
- my cell-phone
- I strap my small tripod to the outside (the larger one I have to carry, so I often will "forget" it, he, he)

That's about it!

Now I'm wondering, why are you wondering?  And ... what do you carry in your bag, Pat?

Well, that was interesting reading...

I have my little itsy bitsy tripod that I bought at the 5 and 10 cent store

My lense tissues

My camera  ::)

My 2X teleconverter

I carry the little book that came with the camera

Extra batteries--I have a charger in my car so I don't carry the charger with me

I got an 8 mg card with the camera, then bought a couple more so I carry them all with me

I have a $5. bill in one of the little zipper containers in case of emergencies

I have some paper and pencil and pen.  So often I've met someone and wanted to tell them about Christian Photographers so I have paper and pen to do this.  Think I'm going to get some cards printed or at least print some myself with the URL on

I always take my cell phone as well.

I have several little Gospel of John booklets and some tracts that Jack wrote tucked in there as well.  You never know when you can give some of them away.

I think that's all.

I have ordered my new camera bag, bigger tripod and neckstrap. But y-all have given me a few more ideas of thigs I should carry in my bag; the little Gospel of John tracts, pen and paper, and lens cleaning tissues. My camera has built in 10X telephoto that really brings things up close and personal. Can't put extral lens's on it.

Okay, is there a prize for the most or the least items?  Everything sounds interesting....

Maybe we could talk about what a good bag is.

As we buy our new cameras, we are investing good $$$ into this equipment and it HAS to be protected.

Some bags are so thin and soft that there's no protection from bumping, etc.

I bought a bag made by Lowepro and it even has a raincoat for the bag attached to it.

There are many sections in it for the various little things I carry and also the sections can be adjusted as they have velcro at the ends of the hard sections and attach to the wall of the bag.

I have an extra section as I alway carry a small Canon Elph camera that takes little cassettes just in case I have a battery failure or some other failure while I'm out and at least I can still capture my image on film to scan later.

Sarah

in my "camera bag" which is really my backpack i have my cameras (2 digital and 1 35mm i think) my wallet with all my info in it, my books usually school books/ reading books, my bible, my cell phone, my cd's, my cd player, some form of gum, pens, paper, probably some trash, charger for phone, batteries for cameras and cd player, adapters for cd player, some form of candy (even though its bad for me) and other things i can't think of at this point.

Etta Sue

Hello, kmcn,

I see you registered way back in March and just today posted.  What took you so long?

Come to New Every Morning and introduce yourself and so we can get to know you and you get to know us.

We don't bite....not much.... :o :o

First of all, my bag is an old bag that I bought on ebay that is very durable and holds lots of gear. I wanted an old looking bag so it would be less likely to be stolen. I don't know if it is technically water-proof, but I did spill a whole cup of coffee on it and nothing got through...plus that adds to the "not worth stealing" look.

Canon EOS 10S body

Canon EF 35-135mm lens

Sigma EX 20mm lens

polarizing lens for 20mm

polarizing, enhancing, warming, and UV filters for 35-135mm (one of these days I am going to switch to the drop-in filters with an adapter for each lens so I don't have to buy separate filter for each lens)

flash

spirit level

spare batteries

camera manual

lens cloth

small flashlight for reading lcd screen (for example, at night when shooting fireworks. I bought one after this past July 4th when I had to use the light on my watch and straining my eyes)

pen, tiny notepad

I always take my tripod with me. An economic Velbon that I bought at a garage sale for $20. A good tripod will probably be my next investment; this one shakes if I breathe too hard.
Trust in God, and He shall bring it to pass.

May I add to this discussion? :) I don't even have a camera YET...but when I do., it will be of the softest, most pliable leather i can find. :D
My equipment will be kept to a minimum., as the lighter, the better for me!

I noticed one thing missing...noboody think of lipstick, powder or comb?!!!!!!!!

You never know when you might want someone to take a photo of you  in it....especially, if a good looking guy comes along. ???..Marilyn, Etta Sue, Patzi, and any other widows/divorced I might have missed!.. :-X.Gotta look your best you know....Opporttunity just might "come a knocking, when you least expected!!"

My Motto for you is:  ALWAYS BE PREPARED!!! ;) :-\ :-*

I knew I was forgetting something  :-*

Actually the only makeup I carry is black and orange face paint (see avatar). Seriously, that picture was taken at home when I painted my face to watch a game at home (now there's a real fan for you).
We got to make a trip to Cincinnati last fall and went to a Bengals game in person but my wife wouldn't let me wear it in public. So I couldn't wear it to the game.

I was wondering if that was really you in that makeup Daniel. 8)

Janet

I just got a bag for my new camera.  So far, all I have to put in it are the camera and the extra memory cards, plus extra batteries.  I can't carry heavy items, or my shoulders or back starts hurting, so I like to keep weight to a minimum.  This bag came with a wrist strap, shoulder strap and a loop I can slip the strap of my fanny pack through, so I think it will work pretty well.  It is padded; I was concerned about the camera getting scratched up.  Not much extra room in it at all.  If I had a cell phone, it wouldn't fit in there!

But Pat reminded me that I do have another bag that I got with my Pentax SLR camera, that has more room and lots of velcro things, so if I wanted, I could use that one.  It's quite a lot bigger.

Pat

I've had so many ideas of things that I should put in my camera bag from this discussion.  ;D

I never thought of makeup, Judy!  But you've proved that it's a good thing, Daniel! HAHAHAHA!!  (Are those your real teeth or are they a false set that covers your teeth like the sports guys wear to protect themselves???)

Daniel Neff

Those are my real teeth. They probably look strange because of the face paint.

Janet

My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Darryl Cox

For general protection I carry a canvas and fairly large camera bag that holds all my hardware.

In the bag are the following items:
Sony Cybershot dsc-f828 - Primary camera
Sony Cybershot dsc-f717 - Backup Camera
Four Sony Batteries
Two gigabytes of memory cards
Mindstore Image Bank
Polarizing Filter
Lens/Filter cleaning cloth
Olympus B300 1.7X Teleconverter
Olympus 0.7X Wide Angel Conversion Lens
A small external strobe light.
Camera Manual
Small Note Pad and pen

THEN: When out mamking photographs I put what I think I will need, for the day, in a Domke Photographers Vest and leave the bags in the car. Fifty years of carrying two or three heavy film camera gear on my shoulders and neck has resulted in spinal problems and the vest distributes the load and avoids headaches at the end of the day.

Mark

I generally take everything with me...then leave most of it in the car.  My current bag is a camera backpack.  Well padded and roomy.  I like it!  Righ tnow my bag has:
- my cameras (Pentax film and Sony digital)
- lenses for the Pentax
- memory cards
- batteries
- pen
- lense cleaners
- filters (UV, polarizer, etc)
- lense hood
- film
- manuals for everything
- off-camera flash
- and my tripod when I tie it on

I'll usually haul everything with me in the car and when I get to where I'm shooting, I'll take the essentials and leave the rest in the car.  If the car is going to be too far, I'll just put on the backpack and bring it all with me.

Pat

I went to the Royal Winter Fair the other day with my camera bag and I had a cut up apple in it, some almonds and a toothbrush!  :P ::) ;D

LOL

I was happy that I had a pen and pad in it as I was able to give the URL for CP to a couple of people I met.
