JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I currently mostly use a Canon Rebel XT I inherited from my brother in law. He's moved up to a bigger and better Canon, can't remember the model.

I started my odyssey years ago with a Chinon film SLR, an odd hybrid--slr, but fully automatic, fixed lens. Limited creativity, but great pictures for an automatic.

Moved digital with a cheap, cheap 5mp. Had a used Olympus E500 for a short while, but passed that on for various reasons (great quality machine, though). Recently inherited the Rebel and am very happy with it.

Sometime I am going to get my hands on one of the new Pentax K-X's
(the stormtrooper white one). I'd like to be able to use some of that old Pentax glass I bought over the years. I don't care too much for being able to use all the features, as long as I can manual focus and get a meter reading. I guess I'm old fashoned. When my old spotmatic's battery died I could still take photos. I'd just eyeball it, and it would come out pretty good. I used bulk loaded tri-x exclusively for decades. If a battery dies today, all you have is a doorstop.

I'm still using my Pentax K-10D but I've added new toys to the pile.  I bought a cheap Pro Optic fish-eye which has been fun to play with, and I just got a nice Sigma 50mm f1:1.4 prime that is really sweet.  If you're looking for gear, I highly recommend KEH.com for used (and some new) gear.  Great outfit to deal with!

I use Nikon D40 as my main camera. Still waiting for the D300s replacement before it gets replaced.

I got a number of P&S. 2 Olympus, 1 Sony, 1 Epson, 2 Camera Phones (Samsung & Sony Ericsson). Planning to get a Panasonic Lumix LX5 or Canon S95 this Christmas.

The LORD provides. =)

Wow that is great!  Welcome back!

That's quite a collection, 3934!  How on earth do you decide which one to use?

It's more like a collection really.  ;)

My first camera was an Olympus Camedia C-3000 Zoom bought in 2003/4... can't remember. Then the Sony Cybershot P72 unexpectedly arrived a year later. It was a gift along with my new Vaio laptop.

Somehow the Olympus still takes better stills with all the manual mode. But I use the Sony with movie recording as with the 640x480 as compared to the tiny 30 second limit of the Oly. Sometimes I use the Sony for quick snaps along with the Epson, and the newer Olympus FE-20.

I also had the camera phone. Samsung SGH-E900 and then was replaced by my Sony Ericsson Elm just this month. I still use both of them today considering I live in the Philippines; most people has 2 or more phones from different networks.  ;D

My Epson L-300 was bought used because my old camera's were unavailable and I need to go to an immersion. I can't bring my DSLR as it will be too much of an attention. Now, I am using it whenever I go biking.

Few months later, the Olympus FE-20 was impulsively bought cheap for less than 50 USD in the States during thanksgiving.

I still use my D40 for major events; investing on lenses from time to time when the LORD provides. Now I need a real replacement/upgrade for my Olympus Camedia. Either the Lumix LX-5 or the Canon S95. I will be using it for landscape photography (as it will be carried along my climb to Mt. Kitanglad) and an everyday camera.

My weakness is selling one of these items. Memories and sentimental value lies on every investment I made on these cameras.

I use a Canon 7D and a Canon Rebel XS (a bit of a gap in technology).
I use Canon because I was once told that only Canon-made lenses can go onto the different models (like a 85mm f/1.8 could be used on any digital Canon). Buying a Nikon would mean that everytime I upgraded my camera body, I would have to rebuy all the lenses...I was so new to cameras that I just said "sure, cool, I'll get one of those then!"...good times! Haha! 2 or 3 years later, I still use Canon!

Oh dear my brand the Panasonic is only in the 3% bracket, thought Panasonic was more popular....
Panasonic Lumix...DMC - TZ5...
Talking of first cameras...that would have been the old " Box Kodak Brownie, " well it was my mothers or my grans..and of course being a youngster, was rather a heavy camera...but it was all we knew...Oh and the Kodak factory was not far from where I grew up, the factory was - in Harrow ( UK ) but, I believe it closed down...last year..

Pentax is a great brand (Ricoh now owns them, but wisely kept the Pentax marque).    At any given price point, Pentax outperforms other brands.   I recently purchased a Kp, and I'm very, very happy with it.

And yes, KEH is a reliable and ethical company.    You can be sure that when they rate a camera's condition, it precisely matches their published rating scale.
